Well just based on the news I think the February lim slot has to be a unit event unless they don't care about finishing the rotation before 3.5. January lim could go either way, but because of WxS World Link, that only leaves January lim, February slots 1 and 2, February lim, and March slot 2

Haruka is guaranteed to be one of the perm February slots. Honami could either be January lim or February 1. I think Ena is more likely to be the February lim than Toya is, especially given how the MV types line up. I mean they could do three 3DMV unit events in a row (with a mixed event in there somewhere) since the last 3DMV would end up in March if they do that, but it feels a little more likely they'd do the double 3DMV events and then the next 2DMV. Ena also hasn't had a lim banner with her as the focus (all of her unit events and both of her mixed events have been perms)

I don't know. WxS World Link kinda messes everything up, and the lim schedule is a mess

okay so first off after the stream it occurred to me that i did a big stupid and Honami 4 cannot be the lim banner this month. Lol. Because that would've required them to announce 3 event songs this wandasho channel.

So Toya4 is Toya/Kohane/An lims end of february. Calling it now. Ena I have my doubts about because you could do Ena/Mafuyu/Kaito because both girls are desperate for lims and n25 kaito will be the next vsinger lim, but considering Mizuki has never been rateup on an Ena unit event and also has the most lims in the game right now, I think a Ena/Mizuki rateup for ena4 is most likely.

I will admit I'm still very stuck on things. At the very least it's pretty much confirmed that Hona4 is slot 1 and Haruka4 is slot 2 for february.

Given Emu skipping the rateup she should've had on the current event i'd say she's most likely to be the lim event (plus i think it's too close to akito's last lim when lots of characters have gone nearly a year w/o, and kanade is capped on 4* cards rn). If we look at the characters who need a lim within the next 4 lim events, we have Toya, An, Ena, Mafuyu, Honami, and Emu. Emu already has been featured on mixed events with Ena, Honami and Toya, and we can rule out An based on the likeliness of Toya4 being lim. Emu/Mafuyu works, since they have an established connection, and n25 kaito should be the next vsinger lim and he works with mafuyu.

Also I've seen multiple JP specs that Akito will be the 3.5 event, which makes a lot of sense now that i think about it. it's either kanade, emu, or akito, and miku usually has a 4* on the .5 events. out of those characters, two of them already have a lim miku for their unit. so you could do something like, akito/miku and then maybe ena? i know she was lim on last year's .5 event but there's that 12 month limit thing that's been pretty consistent. plus, pre-established connection. honestly you could probably put Honami on there too because she has a connection to Ena.

then kanade perm mixed after 3.5 god knows who the cards would be on that.

it's patchy, but here's a visual demo of what i'm thinking rn. with this i'm also assuming Ichika/Saki 3.5 fes and Tsukasa/Emu summer fes. mainly based on the fact the WL gacha will end only 8 days before 3.5 (minori and shiho could get away with it because they at least had two weeks between cards). also saki will need a lim more than emu by that point under the assumption that next event is emu.

HARUKA DEVELOPMENT!!!

Seeing that Haruka's soul is still her child self from her original backstory, I wonder if we'll be seeing a flashback of how her tragedy was averted. Given Isshin XII's statement that Haruka's heart hasn't matured, my supposition last week that Fuuko's soul resembling her appearance from when she just joined the Union symbolizes that she's the same person at heart seems to have been correct. The shape of a person's soul is a reflection of who they are; Andy is an old soul, Fuuko is a member of the Union, Lucy is a free spirit, and Haruka is a scared child. Cowardice has been a core trait of Haruka's the entire time, and while this arc seemed to suggest that she'd grown out of that between loops, this moment implies that just because she's braver doesn't mean that she isn't scared

Presumably the circumstances of her becoming Unbreakable contributed to her soul taking that shape, a moment in her past that she can't move on from. I doubt her father died the same way this time if at all, but even if it was just the shock of seeing her grandfather die of natural causes, I could see that rooting Haruka's heart in a particular time. It would also be interesting if Tozuka uses that plot point to elaborate on why Haruka got into cobbling, what inspired her to make that choice specifically, and how her relationship with Top developed after she saved his friends. I don't know if that's a story that Tozuka is interested in telling, but it's one I'm interested in reading, for sure!

The other major element of this chapter was Isshin XII's advice to Haruka. "Use the power of those who never merely live and die." Therein lies the thesis statement for this arc and possibly the entire series: "[humans] never merely live and die." We aren't alive just because blood pumps through our veins (Victor's original view) or because we have thoughts in our heads (Andy's original view); we're alive because we can form connections, because we can leave an impact on the world, because we can create

A beast lives on instinct. A beast kills and eats to survive and breed, and one day dies so that something else may feed and survive. As UMA Beast said, beasts do not desire coexistence. I would argue that they don't desire anything, their biology simply compels them to eat and procreate, even if they don't have what we would call an "understanding" of the purpose of their actions

There's no pride or craftsmanship in Beast simply growing Unbreakable armor. Does a tortoise build its own shell and take pride in it, or does it simply happen to grow around an otherwise oblivious reptile? Haruka's new Unbreakable, seemingly able to reconfigure her armor to match someone else, suggests that she has achieved that mastery and pride. Unbreakable is not about rigid conformity to one shape, it's about the ability to adapt to the scenario; "the reed which bends in the wind is stronger than the oak which breaks in a storm." Beast has no understanding or appreciation of the effort that forged Unbreakable itself, much less the armor it creates, and thus does not have the pride nor conviction to allow for it to be flexible or adaptable

Beast has Unbreakable, but he does not have the spirit to create. Beast devalues that which proves that one has lived, and that will ultimately be his undoing

A/N ~ This wasn’t requested, but I really wanted to write for Shamour lol. Also, I used Google translate for the French words, so forgive me if any of it’s incorrect!

Your shoes clacked quickly and loudly as you ran through the hallway. You knew that was against the rules, but there was no way you’d make it to class on time if you walked. You struggled to see ahead of you because of the large stack of papers you were carrying, adding to the risk.

You’re a teacher at Noble Academy. It’s been your dream job for a long time, so you’re over the moon to be able to teach here. You love your job, and all your students. And to your delight, the students seem to love you too.

But a few weeks ago, something happened that added a unique chapter to your life.

You became what’s called a “Pretty Cure”. From what you’ve learned, you transform into a princess, and fight monsters, which are born from people’s dreams being locked away. There’s a lot more to the story, but it’s been difficult to memorize. But luckily, your teammates, which also happen to be your students, have been a big help to you.

Unfortunately though, becoming a Pretty Cure has caused you to become less organized. And trying to get work done with no organization causes you to work a lot slower. So you’ve recently been late on a lot of things

Your limited vision caused you to fail to see a slightly raised floorboard, and trip. You fell to the ground with a loud thud, and your papers went flying.

“Shoot! Now I’m definitely gonna be late!” You panicked, trying to pick up the papers as fast as possible.

“Miss (last name)! Are you okay?” A voice said from behind you. Turning your head, you saw that it was your student and teammate, Haruno Haruka.

“Hello, Haruka. Yes, I’m okay. I just tripped.” You assured her.

Haruka nealed next to you, and started picking up papers. “Here, let me help you!”

“Oh that’s okay. I’d rather me be late than you.”

“Oh no, I insist! A good princess always helps whenever she can!”

You smiled, and thanked her. Haruka was such a sweet girl, and she was so dedicated to her dream of becoming a princess.

(Time Skip to the End of the Day)

The dismissal bell had just rang, and you said goodbye to your students. You flopped onto your chair, and let out a big, tired sigh. You and Haruka had just barely made it to class that morning, and that wasn’t even the most tiring part of the day.

“Woah. You look pretty beat.”

You jumped, not expecting a student to still be there. You opened your eyes, and saw your fellow Pretty Cures, Kirara, Minami, Haruka and Towa.

“Oh, hi girls. I thought you’d left.” You said.

“We stayed to check up on you.” Said Minami. “We’ve noticed that you’ve been having trouble staying on top of things ever since becoming a Pretty Cure, and that it’s messing with your schedule. Haruka told us what happened this morning, and we thought that you might need help.”

The other girls nodded in agreement.

“You girls are pretty observant. Yes, I am having trouble. But it’s mostly my fault. I’m afraid I let myself get disorganized.” You said, rubbing your temples.

Suddenly, Aroma, a bird-like fairy from the Hope Kingdom, flew in from the open window. “Well, this may just help with that-roma!” He said. In his feet, he carried the Lesson Pad.

You felt your heart start to race in excitement. Not just because the Lesson Pad would help you, but because there was a certain teacher what lives in it that you’re very fond of. Miss Shamour.

Your relationship with her was quite different than everyone else’s. You two often found yourselves flirting during and in between lessons. It’s safe to say that you have feelings for her, and you have a feeling she does too.

Aroma placed the pad on your desk. Knowing what to do, you picked up the stylus, and used it to summon Miss Shamour.

She appeared out of the Lesson Pad, and hopped off your desk, and onto the floor.

“Bonjour everyone.” She greeted, flipping one of pigtails. “What is it that you need teaching today?”

“I uh, need help getting organized. Ever since becoming a Pretty Cure, I’m behind on a lot of things.” You responded.

“Oh, non non non!” Shamour tutted, lightly smacking her paw-shaped wand in her hand. “That just won’t do! But not to worry! I, Miss Shamour, will help you get back on track! Lesson start!” And with that, you and Miss Shamour were sucked into the Lesson Pad.

Your vision focused, and you found yourself sitting in a desk. Miss Shamour was standing in front of you.

“Okay, first part of the lesson. You need to create un horaire, a schedule!” She waved her wand, and a chalkboard appeared out of seemingly nowhere, and some chalk along with it. She waved her wand again, and a piece of paper and a pencil spawned on your desk.

“One of the most important ways to stay organized as a teacher, is to organize your time!”

You mentally prepared yourself for the long road ahead. Miss Shamour was a strict teacher, but you very much enjoyed spending time with her. So you powered through the lesson.

After what seemed like hours, Miss Shamour’s lesson proved affective. You had a schedule, and your papers and files were in labeled folders and binders. You felt a heavy weight lift off your shoulders.

“Congratulations, Miss (name). You’ve passed the lesson!”

You gave yourself a little cheer, almost causing you to drop all your folders. Miss Shamour pinched the bridge of her nose in slight disappointment, though she clearly found it amusing, as she was smiling.

“Oh my. Just what am I going to do with you?”

You laughed. “Well, if you wouldn’t mind, maybe you could give me another lesson sometime?”

She locked eyes with you, her tail swishing in curiosity. “Oui? And what might the topic of that lesson be”

“Oh, I dunno�� maybe… how to ask a cool, cute, fellow teacher out on a date?” You asked shyly.

Shamour chuckled, clearly flattered by your date proposal. “Oui. Though that lesson may best be carried out in your world. How does Sunday sound to you, Miss (name)?” She flirted back.

Overjoyed, you leaned into her side, a way of hugging her without using your arms. “That sounds tre magnifique!”

Kohei: Seems like somethings about to start, you guys, stay quiet okay?

Ujigawa Gen: Everyone, we would like to extend our gratitude to everyone for attending despite being so busy. Today, we are here to give Duck River’s habitual thanks alongside an important announcement, hence we have decided to use this event. It may be a humble party however we do hope you all are enjoying yourselves.

There isn’t a single murder that is completely fictitious and doesn’t happen in real life, so maybe they happen in our world too, and maybe we end up forgiving someone who shouldn’t be forgiven. Maybe it’s something you watched on the news today, and it’s a case like that. I really hope Milgram can help you see the world from a new perspective. That’s the kind of entertainment Deco*27, Otoirosan and I aim to deliver. We want to make contents that will accompany your life. ➳ notes: i clearly can’t decide what format i want my posts to be in, but enjoy! i’ve had this sort of thing happen to me and it sure was a mood killer because you’re goin on about something you love n your partner pretty much says they don’t really care or they admit that they don’t listen, they just wait for you to stop ._.

𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐬 + 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭

quiet murmurs filled the bookstore as you wandered the shelves with a small smile plastered to your lips. briefly scanning the signs indicating which sections contained which genre, your smile brightened as you spotted the young adult section. haru followed behind, vastly less enthusiastic than you were about book shopping and the wave of tiredness had started to show.

you stood in front of the bookshelves, dragging your index finger along the spines of the other books, stopping at the book you wanted and pulling it from the shelf. your smile widened as you happily danced on the spot. turning to haru, you failed to notice the fatigue in his eyes as you rambled to him about the book series.

‘i’m really curious to see how mark of athena goes, because the lost hero focused on leo, jason and piper, but the son of poseidon focused on percy, frank and hazel, so now that they’ve started to combine on top of annabeth being part of the main seven, i have no idea where they’re gonna go with this, and now that camp half-blood and camp jupiter have sort of integrated into one, the interactions between greek and roman traditions and lifestyles and how they’ll mix, but also-’

‘didn’t you buy another book, like, a week ago?’ haru asked bluntly, interrupting your train of thoughts.

‘well, yeah, but i’m close to finishing it and i figured i’d get the next one in the series so i wouldn’t have to wait as long,’ you explained.

‘there are other things to do that aren’t reading, you know,’ he said, shoving his hands in his pockets and yawning. 

your smile was immediately wiped off of your face as you realised he didn’t care for your hobbies and your gaze flicked to the ground. humming in thought, you reluctantly put the book back on the shelf, subconsciously hugging yourself as you continued to stare at the floor.

‘can we go home now?’

‘yeah, i guess...’

the journey back home was quiet, not only because haru was tired and desperately wanted to get back home and have a bath, but because the energy you had previously possessed had vanished in a cloud of smoke and you no longer had anything to talk about. after all, your boyfriend had effectively told you he didn’t care to hear about your interests.

when you got off the train, you allowed him to hug you goodbye, but turned away disappointedly when you parted to make your separate walks home. haru watched as you walked away, slightly hunched in on yourself and a frown came across his face. he thought about what he said to you before and in his tired state, he sat back down on the bench and waited for the next train to the town he’d just come from.

when he returned to the bookstore, he navigated his way back to the section you made a beeline to. scouring the shelves, his eyes landed on the book you had picked up before. he knew you burned through books at an alarming rate, and recalling what you’d said about nearly finishing the son of neptune and wanting to buy mark of athena to continue the story without waiting. glancing at the shelf, he saw the remaining books for the series, then at the price sticker on the back of the book he held in his hands. holding it to his chest, he took the other 2 books left in the series and stacked them on top of the one you had almost bought and made his way to the counter.

on the train ride back, he pulled mark of athena from the bag and read the blurb. shrugging to himself, he opened the book and began to read to pass the time. when he arrived back at the station he would get off on, he was a couple chapters in and he couldn’t lie.

he was kinda hooked.

the fatigue he felt when he brushed off your excitement was long gone and he was pretty much dying to ask you a question as he jogged to your house. knocking on the door, his chest heaved while he waited for you to answer, making sure to keep the bag of books behind his back.

‘haru?’ your figure stood in the doorway, a confused expression on your face. ‘what are you doing here?’

‘umm, can i come in?’ he asked awkwardly. raising an eyebrow at his response, you stepped to the side, opening the door wider as a silent invitation inside. when you closed the door, you turned to face him once more.

‘what’s this about?’ you pressed, fiddling with the bottom of your shirt. he didn’t respond, instead, he held the bag out to you with a shy smile it was almost unnoticeable. taking it from him, you peered inside skeptically, but your face glowed as you saw what was inside. ‘you bought them all?’

rubbing the back of his head sheepishly, he nodded and a faint pink hue spread across his cheeks. ‘yeah, and i kind of read the one you wanted today on the train back...’

your grin widened - if that was even possible - and you couldn’t stop the glee from overtaking your body. ‘and?’

‘...do you mind if i borrow the first 2?’

laughing to yourself, you pulled him into a tight hug, kissing him gently as you pulled away from the hug slightly. ‘of course not. i’ll read them to you if you want?’

haru returned your smile and leaned in for another kiss. ‘that’d be perfect.’

MORE OVERTAKE SPOILERS ep7 holy shit

we're seeing more concrete details of kouya's past now and god, like none of it is especially surprising, we could have already put the picture together more or less

but it really is a perfectly crafted tragedy because it's like kota says, kouya couldn't have saved her whether he took the picture or not but at the same time the public outrage isn't surprising

this isn't like taking a photo of the notre dame as it burns, a kid died. and while photojournalism is about capturing significant moments in history, it's an understandably human reaction to feel outrage at seeing this photo of a child who died just moments after

of course kouya didn't deserve that level of hate, of course he couldn't have done anything either way, but it's just such an expected, inevitable tragedy that its sadness feels especially pronounced to me

although the series has thoroughly impressed me so far, i'm still a bit wary of how the rest of kouya's story will unfold. what he was thinking in the moment when he took that photo, why he published it afterwards, and what caused him to stop being able to take photos (the awful feeling of not being able to do something more than take a photo, or just the fear of being criticized again?)

he's a very sympathetic character to me right now, because it's easy to think maybe he didn't choose to publish the photo, maybe it was taken out of his hands (much like he didn't choose to publish the photo of haruka crying)

but even if he did choose to publish it, even if his fear is of the public outlash... i don't think it would make him a worse character. maybe less sympathetic, but still fascinating and well-written

so it'll be hard for the show to go wrong from here, they've set up honestly a much more nuanced and riveting character backstory than i would have thought possible

moving on from that HARUKA'S FUCKING APOLOGY SCENE HOLY SHIT this was such a prickly standoffish kid at first and his apology was so earnest and from the heart, and kouya DIDN'T EVEN HEAR IT and even if haruka gets the chance to say it again IT'LL NEVER BE THE SAME I'M BITING ELECTRIC CABLES RIGHT NOW

it's kind of incredible to me, from a craft standpoint, that on the surface haruka's journey and kouya's journey are two completely separate things, their trauma doesn't stem from remotely the same thing, they have different goals, they're basically different in every way. and yet there's still a resonance there, that enables them to help and understand each other (which i think is what makes it so much more effective and impactful when they misunderstand each other)

haruka's growth is unfolding brilliantly as well, and though the focus is more on kouya right now, the story still feels so absurdly well-balanced

on a kind of side note i'm also obsessed with kota in this episode, it's a simple thing but the parallel of him like telling arisu to visit harunaga and telling haruka to just go see kouya? god i feel for this kid, he's such a good kid

like these are presumably his two best friends, at least from what we've seen, and his whole role in this episode (kind of in the whole story in some ways) is to push them towards other people

because it's the right thing to do, yeah, and it's what his friends need to hear, but man he should not be alone either!

anyway absolutely captivated, very much looking forward to next week in which my thoughts are sure to become even less coherent lol

ayano is not difficult to imagine as a mom. she's really sweet but scary when angry yknow. probably more than shintaro. well obviously a lot more than shintaro. kids go to him before her when theyre in trouble bc he's a huge pushover and cant handle being mad at them for over a minute. LOL ERMM ERMMM i think ayano's parent flaw (IM GETTING INTO THAT NO ONE IS A PERFECT PARENT) is that shes REALLY into THERE ARE NO SECRETS IN THE FAMILY and struggles giving her kids space bc she's insanely scared of any of them hurting similarly to how she has in the past. like it comes from a good place but it's definitely a little awkward and makes ayano kind of an overbearing parent? not SUPER like she's not controlling or takes away their privacy or anything but she's like. EMOTIONALLY overbearing. friday night after dinner is emotion time where we sit down as a family and list every positive and negative thing of the week and talk it through😊😊😊😊😊 shes a little crazy but means well u_u but she's really just teaching them healthy communication and how to ask for help etc etc but sometimes it goes too far like she projects too much LOL but it complements well with shintaro bc he's usually like Hey. leave them the fuck alone for a moment and ayanos like AUUGGHH 💔💔💔💔💔💔 ok fine💔 also AGAIN ayame littlest of 4 kids but all others are adopted and came into the family with their own lore and most likely tragic past so ayano is USED TO THE PRECEDURE OF HELPING HER CHILDREN HEAL but ayame is like i was raised in a healthy loving home i have no mental issues and my biggest problem in life is having to go to school bc id rather be playing toys and having fun. and ayano's like what the fuck... shintaro we raised an emotionally stable child and shintaros like I SURE HOPE WE DID?????

takane is also not difficult to imagine i think. sorry takane but... overprotective insane parent she would be fucking INSANE like. takane would be a good mom DO NOT get me wrong definitely the coolest no big deal u can do anything u want kinda parent definitely the fun one definitely the one all next gen kids go to for prank support. you know that pic that's like mom in 1990 helping her kids pass a hard level in super mario. thats takane 100% like she is so COOL but secretly fucking insanely over obsessed protective hypochondriac. like rest in fucking pieces. konoha's the kid arriving to the sleepover with a overnight breathing machine that needs to be plugged in. he scrapes his knee and takane acts like it's the end of the world. haruka not nearly as insane but insane enough to sort of enable takane's overprotectiveness bc he's sorta the same LOL he's not so worried if konoha gets hurt playing but if he coughs 1 time haruka also begins acting like it's the end of the world

konoha is an only kid and ayame has 3 older siblings so haruka+takane and ayano+shintaro are inevitably super different parents bc shintaro and ayano are like experienced and are like the memes of Me when my third kid hits their head (hanging out and not caring) and haruka and takane are like Me when my first kid hits their head (AMBULANCE SIRENS) since im talking abt ayano and takane specifically let me add i think itd be funny if they get into discussions because ayame plays rough (little sister survival) and konoha rides a bike with pillows attached to all his body. so konoha's like coming back home from hanging out with ayame all shaken and hyper and with 1 microscopic scrape and takane's like (shaking) which isnt even ayame's fault konoha is probably clumsy as hell. haruka genes. didnt get the deadly illness👍👍👍 but falls on his face for no damn reason all the time😔😔😔

AS FOR THEIR RELATIONSHIPS i feel bad abt them choosing a favorite THATS SO SADDD i dont think its about FAVORITES it's more like. u have different relationships with both parents??? like i think ayame goes more to shintaro than ayano exactly because ayano is like Sit down AND LETS HAVE OUR SCHEDULED HEART TO HEART and shintaro's like a million times more chill like i generally think ayame's personality is more like his. i think she's sort of like if shintaro was an extrovert♥️ but also when it comes to hanging out outside and jumping around and chasing each other around which is 1000% ayames kind of playing she goes to ayano. shintaro's sitting down on the couch trying to read and his kid(s) (all the older ones join in too) and wife are jumping around him because the floor is lava 🙏💯🔥 literally ratio + playing + having fun.

like IDK. To achieve that, I've continued making a song that will make Kotobuki-senpai shine. That was all I thought about while I composed this song. That's why I can't give up that easily and choose another partner just because Senpai is gone! Please! Kotobuki-senpai…. I’m sure he’s just confused because of everything that happened. I’ll… track down Kotobuki-senpai and talk him out of this! So please, don't accept that resignation letter yet!!

I say that and lower my head, then hear the president sigh loudly.

Shining Saotome: The matter in question… I also find it regrettable.... But, precisely because of that, I don't want anybody else involved in it….

Haruka Nanami: President….

Shining Saotome: But, I’ll leave it to you since you said that much. Bring him back. I’ll let you two participate if he can prove that he actually wants to participate in the Song Festival. BUT, if that feeling isn't there, your request will be REJECTED on the spot!! YOU won’t debut and both of you will be fired!! Is that alright with you?!

Haruka Nanami: It is!!

When I give that answer, the president goes quiet for a bit and then smiles.

Shining Saotome: Understood! Then I’ll put that resignation on hold temporarily!!

He puts the resignation letter in the drawer of the desk.

Shining Saotome: I wanted YOU to participate in the festival without a handicap like this, but that's how it is…. Now, go, Nanami. I wish you the best!!

Haruka Nanami: Yes!

The president closes the drawer.

When I leave the room, I see Ittoki-kun and Ichinose-san standing there with sober expressions.

Haruka Nanami: You two… what’s wrong…?

Otoya Ittoki: We’re worried about Rei-chan, so we came to ask about the situation…. Then we heard that you had been called here by the president….

He looks at me, worried.

Tokiya Ichinose: How is Kotobuki-san…?

I look down in silence, not telling them about the resignation.

Otoya Ittoki: I wonder if he’s alright.... Where did he go all by himself….

Tokiya Ichinose: Whatever the reason, he doesn’t seem like someone who would just vanish without telling anyone where he went.

Otoya Ittoki: What did the old man say?

He says that with a stern face.

I hear Ichinose-san sigh.

Tokiya Ichinose: It's not that I don't understand your feelings, but…. No, this must be what being a “partner” means.

Haruka Nanami: Ichinose-san….

Tokiya Ichinose: Understood. We'll help as much as we can and try to find Kotobuki-san’s whereabouts.

Haruka Nanami: Thank you so much!!

Ittoki-kun clenches his fist.

Tokiya Ichinose: Even so, if by any chance he doesn't show up on time, I'll be your partner if that's okay with you. Don't hesitate to call me then.

Otoya Ittoki: Yes, I’ll help too. We could even do it as a unit if you want.

Ittoki-kun smiles.

Tokiya Ichinose: I’d like to avoid that as much as possible but… Well, if it comes to that, I’ll do it.

Suddenly, Ichinose-san smiles as well.

Looking at these two smiling, I feel encouraged somehow.

Haruka Nanami: Really, thank you so much.

I lower my head deeply once again.

Then, Ittoki-kun and Ichinose-senpai begin helping out.

We keep splitting up to search for Kotobuki-senpai whenever we have time.

But we still learn nothing of his whereabouts. Even when I phone his family home, I'm told he hasn’t returned there.

Kotobuki-senpai…. Just where could he have gone….

Then, one day, I have an unexpected encounter.

Haruka Nanami: Otonami-san….

Kei: It’s been a while.

He says that with an expressionless face and glances at me.

Haruka Nanami: About that time….

Kei: I’ve heard Kotobuki-kun is nowhere to be found.

Haruka Nanami: That's right….

Otonami-san sighs faintly in response.

Kei: I don’t know where you found my contact information, but two boys called Ittoki-kun and Ichinose-kun came as far as to ask me if I knew of his whereabouts.

Otonami-san hands me a piece of paper.

Haruka Nanami: This is….

Kei: It’s the address to Kotobuki-kun’s family home. I found it in an old notebook—you can try looking there.

Haruka Nanami: But I already called his family and was told that he wasn’t there….

Kei: That was his doing. He must’ve told them to keep quiet. He’s clever, I’ll give him that....

He smiles faintly.

Haruka Nanami: But… why….

Kei: I heard what happened from Katagiri. I also resented Kotobuki-kun for a long time, thinking that he had abandoned Aine…. We made him the bad guy to lift the responsibility of what happened to Aine off ourselves. That's what we wanted to think. After all, we couldn’t help him ourselves either.

Kotobuki-senpai, Otonami-san, Katagiri-san…. They all treasured Aine-san; I understand them so well it hurts.

Kei: But…. Listening to Ai Mikaze’s song, I realized that nothing would change by doing this. He’s not Aine, nor a replacement for him. That song proved it. We were just following after Aine’s reflection in him. When I listened to him sing, I thought that Aine wouldn’t want that. I understood that immediately. We were just running away from reality. Besides, Kotobuki-kun should be set free too. The price he has paid is already more than enough. When I saw him singing your song, confronting the music seriously, I thought that that is what being an idol is about. I want to see him shine more. I want you to show me the dream that Aine and I couldn’t fulfill. I think the only one who can do that is you.

After Otonami-san says that, he bows slightly and leaves.

I look down at the note he gave me.

I don’t know what Kotobuki-senpai was thinking when he decided to hide.

But everybody is waiting for him. Katagiri-san, Otonami-san, the people from the agency…. And me too….

I want to communicate that to him clearly.

after a long, tiring week of back-to-back exams, you just wanted to stay in the comfort of your covers all day. you've been staying up late reviewing your notes for the past couple of weeks since you really needed to ace these tests. adding to that, you had to help your significant other with studying aswell, considering how much she was struggling with understanding some of the lessons. though it wasn't that difficult since the rest of vbs were there to help (excluding akito someone save that man), all the pent up stress from school and your other worries ended up with you overworking yourself. which ended up getting you sick.

you didnt think it was that much of a big deal, telling yourself its gonna go away soon enough, so you just sucked it up and continued on with the week

past noon, the scarlet-ish sky indicating that the suns going to be down soon. the bell already rang awhile ago, but mafuyu got called over to finish some stuff troubling the committee she's in. she told you to go ahead since it would take her awhile to be done, but you ended up waiting for her anyways. though that might've not been the best idea.. here you are hunched up on the bench, temperature rising with a really bad headache hitting you at the worst time ever. “i should've stayed at home today...”

god heard your prayers and thought "okay i guess thats enough suffering" and boom mafuyu comes out of the room finished with whatever she was doing

turning your head, you see your lover blankly staring at you. a few seconds pass. then that turns to a minute, both of you having a staring contest. eventually, its broken by her asking you why you're all hunched up and you mumble out a response, “nothing.... im just having a headache but it's nothing too bad.” cue her getting some kind of cold-compress for you (out of nowhere???????) and her suggesting to walk you home

the walk there was quiet, but it wasnt awkward. if anything, it was the opposite. you felt at peace and happy at the fact that you got to spend time with her. also, its not like you didnt notice how she discreetly took your hand in hers. not at all hehe

anyways, 10/10!!!!! while it's unlikely, she might try to visit you once her mom's attention is onto something else, but even if shes not there to b with you physically she'll talk to you over the phone while shes coming up with lyrics for the next niigo song :]

so like, songs already in-game that i would've liked to have been covered/covered by a diff group?

Setsuna Trip is the first to come to mind. I really wanted that to be Ichika/Saki. I still like the Minori/Airi version but I dunno I just think it would've worked better for Leo/need, especially since the instrumentation felt more pronounced on the sekai arrangement.

Back when we were waiting for the final vbs archive I said I thought Toya and An should cover Hibikase, Haikei Doppelganger, or Fraulein=Bibliotheka, and I still agree with those, even if An/Toya don't get in-game covers.

I also think it would've been cool if WxS got to cover Buta ni Natte yeah yeah since it's kinda a followup to potato ni Natte iku? Also I like both those songs a lot so it's a bit self indulgent but I still think it would've been good.

Bad End Night or Vampire's Pathos would've been great as WxS covers too...

While I'm at it I'm gonna complain about the obnoxious amount of full unit covers we got last year. Here's some full unit covers from last year that I think should've been duets:

Shiroi Yuki no Princess wa - Honestly I love this cover but the line distribution is a bit messy and I think it would suit being a duet. Any MMJ duet could work imo and I hope we get duet alts at least. Maybe Shizuku/Minori or Haruka/Airi

Aa, Subarashiki Nyansei - whose fucking idea was it to make a duet into a quintet, and then on top of it not even try to keep the line distribution consistent with the roles. Again, don't really mind what pair and ik this is a ship-bait-y song but i'd rather have a wxs cover with good mixing and line distribution than a cover for a ship i like lmao

Kyu-kurarin - Shizuku/Haruka. It's a bit different from what they normally cover but their solo alts sounded really good.

Shinkai Shoujo - back in like. literally 2021 I said I wanted this as a Shizuku/Haruka duet and I'm never letting that go.

Envy Baby - Mizuki/Ena. This is just because I think their vocals are really good there's no actual reason for it. (I know this is from this year but shhhh the point still stands)

[Lucky Number Seven]

"I'll talk about Unbreakable vs. Unbreakable next week," I said, "surely it'll wrap up then," I said...I say it every few weeks, but I really need to stop trying to predict what's going to happen next...ah, am I Untrust?

Funny thing about this week's chapter: last week, I had the thought completely unprompted:

"Huh. y'know, even with their Rules, there isn't any good reason that the Negators are superhumans most of the time. Like just because Andy can't die, that's no reason he should be able to control the flow of his blood. Shen and Feng's martial prowess and inhuman strength are completely unrelated to their Rules, same with Billy's trick shots. I wonder if maybe their non-Negator abilities are somehow tied to their souls"

And I considered bringing it up last week, but it didn't really seem super relevant to what was going on, so I omitted that section cus I didn't want to get super sidetracked, especially with something that was just a wild shot in the dark

AND NOW IT LOOKS LIKE I'M JUST TAKING CREDIT FOR A PREDICTION I NEVER MADE!!! TOZUKA, YOU'RE MAKING ME LOOK LIKE A JACKASS FROM ALL DIRECTIONS!!!

Anyway...this is such a sick development!!! It's a subtle change, but the difference between using one's will to activate their abilities and using one's soul carries such a significant implication for how the power system will develop going forward

For one, the ability to manipulate, shape and project the soul changes the meta drastically since it adds a completely new wrinkle to how battles are fought, basically adding a new tool to everyone's kit in addition to things like Artifacts and teaming up with UMAs while also adding a potential new weakness to every encounter

I get the impression that souls are meant to be immortal since people get reincarnated between loops, but Ruin said that anyone he kills as a Regulator is removed from the loop, implying he can completely kill souls. But is this a unique trait to him, or is it something that anyone can do if they're able to target souls and he's just familiar with the technique?

Then there's the fact that Fuuko was able to impart Unluck without any tools, simply using her raw soul to go straight to meteoric levels. What can everyone else do to augment or circumvent their Rules? Could Chikara project his vision through his soul to lock down enemies from multiple angles without needing to worry about his eyes drying out? Or could he see a target's soul and prevent them from using their powers entirely?

Can Rip damage souls directly and keep them from recovering? Can Billy learn how to copy Rules better by witnessing them directly? Can Shen get a better read on his opponent by seeing their soul's intentions? Can Haruka harden her soul into armor OR harden her body since it's technically external to her soul? Can Sean make his soul Unseen or project parts of his soul to turn others invisible at a distance?

It'd be pretty boring if everyone just started generically making soul chains and soul guns, but if everyone is able to level up their Rules in unique ways, that'd be a great way to further develop the power system beyond what we've seen so far! I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we found out that Juiz has been using her soul to read peoples' visions of justice this whole time, and we'll probably see that in more detail when Julia gains Unjustice

As fun as it is to develop the power system, though, the real question for this chapter is who were those souls with Fuuko? I think it's fair to say that most if not all of us have concluded already that they're the previous holders of Unluck, who have presumably followed Fuuko to watch over her, but that raises a bunch of questions in and of itself

We know that Juiz and Victor never had families, so their continued existence between loops changed nothing (side note: this is a good indicator that Ruin has in fact been present since Loop 1 since he claims to have been created by God directly, which just further goes to show how hard he sucks as a villain), and that Juiz's eventual death led to her soul being incarnated as the child of a childless couple. From this, we can conclude that because Fuuko did not die in L100, her parents didn't have children in L101 as her soul was not present to be born. If these other six Unlucks have been staying with Fuuko this entire time, then that means that none of them were born in L101, as the chain of succession for Unluck could not be reset. How sad! Their ultimate fate was to not be able to live the lives they wanted even in the final "perfect" world! I guess that's still true of any given Negator prior to the current lineup, though, but still, that's tragic in and of itself, isn't it??

Secondly, though, what do they mean they chose Fuuko? All this time, I thought God picked the Negators based on what would cause the biggest tragedy for them: the world's greatest doctor inflicts irreparable wounds, the world's greatest psychic can only tell lies, the world champion ends his career by killing his opponent, a child drops his only living family from a cliff, a husband's only memory of his wife is her death...you can't tell me that these are because of the previous Negators!!! The Gods making those choices makes sense because they're both sadists, but the Negators themselves??? No, there's something more going on here

The Isshin family makes sense, at least, since their ability doesn't carry tragedy in and of itself, though it's possible that they're just maximizing its effectiveness by keeping it exclusive to smiths. I suppose the previous Untrust going for Latla also makes sense in that regard since giving it to someone with inaccurate predictions wouldn't change the trustworthiness of their conclusions. Unrepair is best used in the hands of someone with an understanding of anatomy, Unstoppable is best used by someone with good reaction time, Unchange is best used by someone with a strong desire for consistency, etc.

I think what it might be is that the previous users are also trying to find who can best make use of their powers in the interest of defeating God in the long term, it's just that God still decides when the power is transferred. I don't know what the previous Unlucks saw in Fuuko, but I highly doubt they said "that girl sure loves her parents; wonder how good she'll get with Unluck if we kill them." No, they probably heard her say or saw her do something that implied an interpretation of luck that they saw potential in, and didn't anticipate just how much destruction that she'd be able to cause

Bear in mind, there's no indication that Juiz ever executed any of the previous Unlucks, nor was she particularly worried about who would get it next after Fuuko. This implies that Fuuko's potential for Unluck is uniquely dangerous; the ability isn't a threat, she is, and whatever it is that made her that way is what made the Unlucks choose her

This brings us to the matter of the loop itself: why do the same people get the same abilities every time? My original thought was that either A) God designed the system that way for consistency so the looper would be able to make decisions based on experience, or B) once someone became a Vessel, the Rule was inextricably tied to their soul, so it would be drawn to them specifically if they were available when the ability next transferred. There may still be some truth to these ideas, but with the understanding that the previous Vessels have at least some say in the line of succession, it seems likely that upon reset, the first user gets it back and then deliberately passes it on to their chosen successor upon their death because they know it'll eventually lead where they want it to

This in turn further suggests that memories are carried in the soul. We've seen this multiple times, with Julia remembering Juiz's life and Sean/others choosing to be born earlier/later, but for the Vessels to consistently choose the same successors, it gives the impression that once they revert to being souls they remember everything and know what they need to do next. I wonder if they communicate with each other at all to coordinate their reincarnations and selections?

If nothing else, we can conclude that Remember probably accesses the memories present within the soul rather than psychometrically reading their past or storing the memories itself like other Artifacts do. I wonder if Remember's reverse ability actually erases memories or just suppresses them? I'm inclined to the latter, since one could feasibly use the obverse in a later loop and get erased memories back as well, and Victor's memories weren't actually erased. That said, Victor may be a fringe case since losing his memories completely could be a form of ego death, and therefore would be negated by Undead. Victor's not a very good sample for understanding the mechanics of Remember, is the point

I won't guess how long it will be before Tozuka revisits this concept and explains it in more detail, since again, I'm always wrong in these things, but I'm very excited for when he does! I've seen a lot of people concerned about the implications that the Vessels are responsible for the tragedies, and I would like that misunderstanding cleared up ASAP

Getting my niece into Milgram, here are some notes:

I showed them the 'This is Milgram' video first and when it showed all of the prisoners they were baffled and confused to see Amane there. They kept on asking "IS THAT A CHILD!?! IS THERE A CHILD IN THERE!?!"

They're taking notes on the characters, which is really nice :) They know they're gonna need them

I then showed them the Character Trailer next. When I told them Es was genderless/didn't have a confirmed gender they cheered

I told them that they probably needed to put down that Jackalope was 'suspicious and horny' in their notes and they were literally confused.

They put down 'depressed fuck' for Haruka's notes

When Futa came on, they were like "he's ginger!" and also put down 'ew, rude' as part of their notes

I told them Muu was half French and they were confused why they needed to put that down (I forgot to tell them her dad's a landlord I'll tell them later)

I had actually shown them a picture of Shidou a few weeks earlier to see their reaction compared to my older sibling who already hates Shidou (they thought he looked mid)

When Kazui said he was 39 they went 'HE'S OLD!?!' and wrote down 'old man' as part of their notes

When Amane said she was 12 they went 'WHAT!? SHE'S A CHILD!?!' and I just had to giggle.

Mikoto's glitched voiceline was the only one they guessed right

They said they think Kotoko's suspicious, and I feel like that's gonna hit them REALLY SOON

Asa and Yoru are so in sync I love it. Asa even getting better fighting! Because they are one and the same no doubt they learn from each other thus get better with skills.

Also Fami powers and Makima power are kinda similar. Both can control other people and devil. Ironically Fami can only summon devils with nerf on their powers making them weaker than what they are. Which could explain why Gully a silly little guy not killing on command.
