i change favorites all the time too, especially when i haven’t gotten used to all of the songs properly. or with 1d, for example, i’m just sometimes more in the mood for something upbeat so my favorite switches to something like that. truly madly deeply is a top tier ballad though, it’s one of their softest songs i could cry just thinking about it ahenfndjej but fireproof, home and end of the day are so good too. there’s too many good ones to choose from ajwnfndkks

funny story, i think zayn was my top artist last year, or at least nobody is listening was my top album and for 2020 it was heartbreak weather ahrntjsje i can’t wait for niall’s new album and apparently zayn’s writing album 4 so i’m 👀 and oh that’s definitely an interesting mix of artists! i love that! if you have some songs of each you’d like to recommend, i’ll definitely give them a try 🫶🏻

okay so idk if you watched/are planning on watching falcon and winter soldier but i watched the first episode the other day and they were speaking french (just a few seconds) and I UNDERSTOOD SOME WORDS DLDJDJ and i was so proud of myself. i‘ve only ever learned french with duolingo lol (i only do like 5 mins a day and that‘s why i was so surprised that i understood some of it!!). and yeah apart from latin i feel like italian, german, french and english are all similar in a sense.. i mean obviously they‘re completely different languages but for example there are some grammatical constructions in french that i think i wouldn‘t understand if i only spoke english? so when i translate those things into english you can‘t directly translate them bc you say things differently, but when i translate them into german then it makes more sense to me. idk that‘s something i noticed so i feel like if you already know multiple languages it‘s easier to learn another language compared to if you only know one language and are trying to learn a second one. even if the languages aren‘t similar then i think you get the hang of it easier.

ikd slsjsjs also i don��t want you to think that i‘m a linguistic genius or anything lmfao, like i‘m only fluent in english and german and i‘m just a wannabe (ew that word) polyglot sksj (yes i had to google polyglot— i do think learning ancient greek would be super cool tho? like imagine studying latin AND ancient greek, whew). and honestly i don‘t think i‘ll ever be fluent in another language bc i don‘t plan on living anywhere other than germany or possibly england and i‘m not dedicated enough to properly learn any other languages esp if i don‘t have anyone to speak the language with. but i still try my best and i just love language/languages as a whole so yeah i‘m happy & just learning as much as i can dkdjh🥰

(I guess language/linguistics are/is my passion (which sounds sooo lame lmaoooo) and the word passion comes from the latin word pati (i think💀) which means to suffer, and in german passion is called Leidenschaft which basically means suffering too, idk why i‘m telling you this maybe you know it already. but ok dumb fun fact, in german you can make compound words with as many words as you like, and the longest official german word is Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz which is a law for the monitoring of labels on beef... this is such a dumb fact but i think about that word like once a day idk why dodjsjsj so... 👁👄👁)

(so in non-covid times i always go to croatia with my dad during the summer, and even before ever watching a shark film i was always kind of scared in water.. but after watching so many shark films wldjdj HELP Like you know when you go deeper into the ocean and you can‘t see or feel the ground/floor? anymore.. then i just start imagining sharks. like i can‘t help it i just imagine a shark sneaking up on me or feeling something graze my foot ABD I JUST START FREAKING OUT SSKJSHSJ. idk. anyway kdkdh i do love the ocean/swimming though but the older i get the more i realise how fucking scary the ocean is ( even if we’re gonna disregard sharks)

I just realized Cruel Summer is also a Taylor Swift song. You and your TS fics. Lol. Anyway - you had a specific lyric for choosing CIWYW, does CS have the same?

but sorta?? i mean the song ciwyw inspired the storyline of ciwyw the fic. i know you obviously have, but if anyone who sees this hasn’t... the lyric was “i want to wear his initial on a chain around my neck. not because he owns me, but because he really knows me, which is more than they can say.” and the whole B necklace was one of the ??? “founding” idk ideas of the fic!!!

but cruel summer wasn’t inspired by the song. the fic was initially going to be called what my little all stars one shot was titled, it ends with you and me, which is a niall horan song. but then once i created vanessa and infused her storyline, the title didn’t really fit anymore. so i knew i needed to change it. i realized i could easily keep it on my swiftie brand with cruel summer bc not only is it quite literally going to be a story about a cruel summer, but there was indeed a lyric that made it super relevant. i haven’t said it yet so here’s some tea! 😁

130503 one direction ‘take me home’ tour in amsterdam - this was my very first concert ever, i was THE biggest one direction fan in 2013 (who wasn’t) and i absolutely bawled my eyes out when they first appeared on stage. trust me when i say 15 year old me is still crying about this

170806 megadeth, alice cooper and marilyn manson at the lokerse feesten in lokeren - so basically in early 2017, whilst also being a kpop fan, i was hugely into metal music and completely obsessed with metallica (kirk hammett is still my baby daddy okay) and when i saw the tickets for this metal day were only 50euros i called my friend and we agreed to go together and it was a wonderful evening (THE ALICE COOPER POINTED AT ME!!!!)

171129 ‘throwback thursday in het sportpladijs’ in antwerp - this concert was basically a celebration of 20 years of ketnet, which is a dutch children’s channel my generation grew up with, they invited all the singers from the children’s shows from the 2000s and the kids from eurosong for kids and i absolutely loved every single second of it because it brought me back to my childhood

180316 ‘harry styles live on tour’ in antwerp - ok SO i went to one direction’s concert in 2013 and this was the first time after i ever saw one of them back on stage and it gave me honest to god chills, the entire concert gave me such good vibes and i experienced it with some really good friends and we both cried when harry sang medicine, all in all 10/10 experience and i would definitely go to another concert of his

180430 niall horan ‘flicker’ world tour in brussels - CAN I JUST SAY I LOVE NIALL okay this entire evening was amazing, i study in brussels so it was easy for me to get to the venue and the vibe throughout the entire concert was hands down perfect, everybody was dancing to the upbeat songs and everybody cried during the slower songs, it was a one of a kind evening and i loved every single moment :(

180701 ed sheeran and anne marie at rock werchter in werchter - ok so there were a shit ton of people there to watch ed sheeran bc it was on a festival site and on a sunday so a lot of people could come, not to mention it was well above 30 degrees celsius that day and i sweated my ass off, BUT hearing him sing live was a gift in and of itself, his voice is truly something else and i knew the words to each and every song of his and i cried so hard when he started singing i see fire because i’m a huge tolkien fan and my friends thought i was v weird. and anne marie’s vocals were on point, girlie can sing like damn. also, getting home from werchter was total shit but the concert was 100% worth it.

181013 bts ‘love yourself’ world tour in amsterdam - here we are again at the ziggo dome, five years later. hands down my favorite. concert. ever. i remember waking up at ass o’clock in the morning because of nerves (trying not to wake the other ppl in the room bc my friend & i slept in a shitty hostel) so i spent the entire morning on twitter with major butterflies in my stomach because holy fucking shit after almost five years of stanning i was FINALLY GOING TO SEE BTS LIVE, so my friend woke up at 8:30 and then we got dressed and walked around the city center of amsterdam before getting breakfast at 10:30 and then we took the tram towards the ziggo dome and we were there by 12pm, which okay we had seated tickets so totally not necessary but anyways, we cringed a lot at v cringy armys, we saw a lot of armys with these cardboards that read “looking for tickets” and it nearly made me cry, walked around the interior design mall next door bc we had to kill time, went to the media markt and played a game and won a poster and a keychain, ate lunch in a place called booven, walked around some more before joining the queue at around 5:30pm. we were SO nervous. both of us talked w the armys in front and behind us, we made some friends, and then it was time for the security to check our tickets, we were both really scared that we wouldn’t be able to get in bc we both bought our tickets through resellers but everything went fine and once our bags were checked and we were really inside the venue we just started jumping around bc holy fucking shit it was gonna happen. it was really gonna happen fuuuck what the fuck okay. put our stuff in a locker and went to find our seats, went back to the hallways again to charge our phones, said goodbye abt 30mins before the concert started to go to our respective seats (not too far from each other luckily) and saw that there were like 7 front row seats still free. texted each other, “if 10mins before the show no one’s sitting there we will”, agreed and 10mins before the show moved to the front row. counted down. seven minutes. sang the songs. five minutes. screamed. two minutes. heart beating so wild. one minute. i’m about to fall out of my fucking chair. five. shaking. four. crying. three. about to die. two. screaming. one. music comes on and lights go down, i swear my heart stopped. everybody was screaming so loud and then suddenly they appeared on stage and it’s like the entire fucking universe has aligned bc my seven angels are RIGHT THERE i’ve never cried like that before i swear. the entire concert was just filled with so much love. them speaking dutch!!! them singing. them being them. me nearly fainting. it being so fucking hot inside the venue. the thrill of sharing that moment with thousands upon thousands of other armys. i just. miss it so much.

190301 a.c.e ‘to be an a.c.e’ world tour in brussels - i didn’t really know a.c.e all that well prior to the concert, i had heard of them and knew one of their songs cactus, so i researched and listened to most of their music and i was really impressed and the concert really helped to get me into them more bc they’re all so so so cute!! when i first started listening to their songs i liked byeongkwan best (he is now my bias) and during the concert, between their songs, i think donghun was talking and byeongkwan was looking in my general direction so i shoot him a finger heart and he saw and he smiled and HE SENT ME ONE BACK!!!! bro i legit died right. there. amazing concert, 11/10 would recommend

190601 bts ‘speak yourself’ world tour in london - no words. just. absolutely speechless. second time i saw bts, second time i was reduced to a crying mess. i love them. i love army. second best night of my life ever. dionysus live was amazing. i cried. yep. take me back. please

190616 eric nam in brussels - i don’t understand why i cry this much during concerts, i just do. eric was an absolute sweetheart. v funny. i had an amazing evening and would love to go to one of his concerts again!!

190907 seongri in brussels - ok so seongri is an idol who participated in produce 101 and is an ex-member of the group rainz which has disbanded, he is an absolute sweetheart and super tiny :( during the fansign i told him he was really pretty and he looked me straight in my eyes, took my hand and told me that i was more beautiful and i blushed super hard and almost fell off the stage. it was a real fun night! he has a great voice and wants to do a sexy concept in the future

EP - Inside Wants Out (9.5/10)

this ep is absolutely brilliant. i came knowing nothing about his discography so listening to a debut project i was not expecting what i heard. it’s so fantastic and portrays his brand so perfectly. like coming with a debut acoustic was amazing bc he really showed his incredible lyrical potential and genuine talent in guitar. his guitar abilities are out of this world in this record. i hope he did it all by himself. i’m shook by this ep but it definitely got me thinking how he made these songs on his own and how they could’ve sounded with more production. still, so beautiful and so good.

great debut album. he def did what i wanted him to do bringing back some songs from the ep and working on them. but it all sounded too much of the same thing so i got a bit bored and felt like i was listening to the same songs over and over.

Heavier Things (8.5/10)

couldn’t really pick a favourite song bc i was listening while cooking so I didn’t pay attention to the song titles and shit. but overall I was super pumped and impressed with the versalitity of the songs. something that i felt a lot in Room for Squares is that it was too guitar-driven so most of the songs kinda sounded the same but in this one he def improved sonically wise but still remained very cohesive. loved it!

Continuum (9.5/10)

am i too biased to say this has been my favorite album so far just because it’s also shawn’s favorite?! lol it’s truly a brilliant album though. generally the first thing i thought was that it was a different frequency from the rest of his discography so far. it’s more jazz-y, slower, calmer and yet deeper. sonically it’s very mature and soothing and so it is thematically. initially it reminded me of Jack Johnson but the comparison faded as the tracks got way more profound and unique than i expected. ooh, and his vocals are sooo good. definitely see shawn getting his vocal inspiration from this record.

Battle Studies (9/10)

as the first track started i instantly thought: this is U2-ish. but it actually wasn’t. i loved the titles of the songs playing thematically with the album title. listening to the album i noticed how john found his genre, his sound and his way of making sonics that are guitar-driven but with great drums behind supporting it. then i noticed he really doesn’t have many collaborations on his discography. half of my heart starts playing and a familiar voice starts backing up his vocals. it gets more and more familiar and as i expected it’s taylor swift’s vocals. apparently she was featured but not anymore lol i like the concept of the track in relation to their relationship and both of them singing it. cute. as the album progresses i feel cool about it. i hear a hint of country music but it is not. assassin is a very interesting song. very different from a “normal” john song with its rock inspirations. crossroads reminds me of old maroon 5 stuff. honestly i think a lot of old taylor swift sonics were inspired by john’s sound. overall, the album truly surprised me. i didn’t have high expectations and thought it would be more of the same when i played the first two songs but i genuinely was surprised. it’s a very good album and beautifully executed. assassin might be one of my new favorites.

Born and Raised (7.5/10)

this is definitely john’s folk-country era lmao the songs are very well produced but i feel like it’s a more chill and grown up record. oddly it reminded a lot of niall’s first album ‘flicker’. each song is unique still. ‘walt grace’s submarine test, january 1967′ and ‘if i ver get around to living’ are such beautifully smart songs. the songwriting, especially in the first, reminded me of taylor swift again. at the beginning i was sure i wouldn’t vibe as much because of the genre but honestly it’s a great album to enjoy and chill out. it’s his harmonica album.

Paradise Valley (6.5/10)

yeehaw johnny! i read beforehand that this would be a more country album so i didn’t come unprepared. love the bridge of ‘wildfire’ (the only part that doesn’t sound like a country song lol) and the frank ocean version is nice. i also appreciate how he incorporated his signature guitar style into these country-ish songs. although it fits the genre they still have a little bit of john in them. again, a very very chill album.

The Search for Everything (8.5/10)

this album was a pleasant surprise. initially it was a big wonder, because i didn’t know any of the songs beforehand and it seemed like it was going to be an unremarkable album. first few songs in, a country sonic demotivated me and my early assumptions were apparently becoming true, so it didn’t really excite me. then, the songs started getting more jazz-y and upbeat (something that i was terribly missing and DYING to hear in john’s discography). the whole record flipped and the songs got really interesting. i even remember listening to one of them aka ‘still feel like your man’. i loveee the interlude track ‘theme for search for everything’ and it bothered me a little bit the title ‘emoji of a wave’ in a track that is so beautiful lol anyways, i ended up loving more than i thought i would because he finally brought back some groove into this discography. to sum it up, i felt like watching a movie soundtrack. that’s how i would describe this album as.

Just to remind everyone who’s freaking out about him performing at the CMA’s... Beyoncé performed with the Dixie Chicks (who are suuuper country) and she obviously sounded amazing and didn’t change her music style?? Personally I’m really excited to hear him sing Seeing Blind with Maren Morris bc it’s one of my favorite songs!! Obviously I’m only gonna watch that part of the show anyways lol.

haha yeah! its super popular for them to bring pop/rock artists on the show sometimes but given that this is actually NIALL’s song they are singing, this is gonna be even bigger for him!

I also love oasis! I gave Louis' music a chance bc of how much he talks about songwriting and also bc of often he mentions oasis and am ❤ I think is more of a am fan thing? And also the 1975 fans too (hate hs)but yes I think most of people who like indie

The am fandom is a mess rn we’re bored so people get weirder lol I think a lot of my friends did listen like the month it was released (again the fandom is a bit bored so maybe they didn’t listen to give a chance but to talk talk shit?) bc some h’s fans are saying we should listen to it? Like sending messages(on insta) I don’t think there’s any chance for them to like it :/ I loved Niall’s album! So amazing! I’m also. I had written you a super long reply but the fucking app crashed and I lost it, so I’m sorry but I think this is gonna be shorter cause I’m almost falling asleep 😭😭 I wanted to welcome you to the pop music world, we’ve got glitters and cookies 💖 also I understand that you might feel still a bit weirded by this, and I can relate. I went through a musical snobism phase too when I was 17, thank god it lasted shortly and I grew up and matured a lot since then, and now I try to embrace pretty much everything. Don’t ever let anyone make you feel guilty about liking something or someone, you’re entitled to your own opinion and you should be free to like what you like and what makes you happy unapologetically, and de gustibus non disputandum est. I do think that most of AM fans sadly listened to H’s album just to criticise it, and as we say in Italy, there’s no worse deaf than those who don’t want to hear. I don’t really care about their opinions, though, cause they’re blinded by prejudices. HS is objectively a great album and SOTT is a masterpiece, probably the best song released in 2017. A friend of mine - who’s a huge AM fan and who mostly listens to indie and folk - loved it and she always says that Harry’s cover of The Chain is the best cover she’s ever heard. Harry is a great artist, and an even greater performer, and he’s also a great, great person and I do think he’s here to stay and to affirm himself as a music icon (I mean, there must be a reason if even Mick Jagger says he’s his only heir and if Mick Fleetwood and Stevie Nicks kinda adopted him as a son lol). I’m actually really sorry you didn’t like his album, even if I respect that, but I hope it’ll grow to you eventually. I don’t really understand what you mean with “the lyrics makes you uncomfortable”? It’s true that some songs on the album are a bit poor from a lyrical point of view (such as Only Angel), but I also think that there are some gems as well when harry was really inspired to write that song and felt it deeply (such as From the Dining Table). There’s no doubt he can and should grow and mature a lot as an author, but he’s got a lot of potential so I’m sure he will (after all he was only 22 when he wrote this album). I’m really excited for the AM’s comeback, but I do hope Alex decides to tone down a bit alcohol and drugs cause when he was touring with Miles he could barely stand on his foot on stage lol. I did went to an AM’s concert once (it was 2014 I think, at the Pistoia Blues Festival), and it was literally amazing. They’re great live, as you said they’ve got a great energy, and the atmosphere was brilliant. One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to xx
