What if he got more Oni features the longer he was in that state of rage.

Like first it's just the purple eyes, then his fangs start to grow more, a horn starts to grow, one before other, facial markings appear, his hand turns into a claw, and so on until he's either fully Oni or find his students and finally can let his rage out onto the people who took them
