FE14 Mistletoe Headcanons

Hey y’all, I’m back for more mistletoe headcanons for the game a select few of us especially cool people like, with some potential rare pairs… but isn’t that the fun of it? That’s why I love doing this stuff. Hopefully you are able to enjoy it, too!

If you want to see the ones I did last year, you can find them here. Buuuuuut, for this year… Please enjoy! You can find Hinata/Oboro, Xander/Laslow, M Corrin/Silas, Camilla/Selena, Hana/Sakura, Arthur/Azura, Shiro/Siegbert, and Orochi/Saizo!

Hinata/Oboro:

I feel like Oboro is the one who would fantasize about getting a kiss under the mistletoe, but Hinata is the one who would actually have to go through with planning it, because she wouldn’t have the courage to ask. Hinata probably tries to set it up himself, but he’s not exactly sure how to be romantic, so he thinks he’s going to lure her to him by having some sort of training contest to show off which of them is truly the best of Takumi’s retainers. It’s a real eye roll for Oboro, especially with her weapon advantage, but she goes along with it anyway just to humour him. When she inevitably is able to get the pin on him, he makes a joking death, saying that she can still save her opponent with a kiss… and then pulls the mistletoe out of his pocket.

“You are so dorky, you know that?”

And with that, she laughs, and presses a kiss to his lips. Hinata smiles all the way through.

Xander/Laslow:

These two have to have a spontaneous mistletoe moment because Laslow is shy as hell and Xander canonically has an anxiety disorder, so this had to be like, an Elise-and-Camilla set-up. They wait until Laslow has been called to be lectured by Xander after flirting to try and forgot his crush, and then, while Xander is doing the talking… they catch them both! Camilla hangs the mistletoe above the doorway, and when Xander escorts Laslow out, they’re caught underneath. Immediately, both men’s faces turn red, but they know they can’t shirk tradition. They share a quick, chaste kiss, which still sends a shot of warmth through each of their chests… and makes them rush off afterwards, trying desperately not to think about how enjoyable that was.

M Corrin/Silas:

Look me in the eye and tell me that Silas did not recreate the most adorable winter’s picnic for the two of them just to get his kiss. This is Silas we’re talking about, he’s a notorious sweetheart. He sets up a basket full of good eats he’s made himself, sandwiches and soups and desserts, and gets Corrin out of his work for the day. Corrin doesn’t quite understand why this is happening, but is happy to get to spend some time with his partner. After the two get to settle down and enjoy a good portion of their winter’s picnic, all cuddled up together to warm against the winter winds, Silas says that he has one last treat for Corrin. He’s quite excited to see what Silas has, and can’t help but laugh when he lifts a little sprig of mistletoe from the basket.

“I should have known you would do this.”

“We are best friends, after all!”

With that, Corrin can’t help but lean in and press a soft kiss to Silas’s lips, one that his significant other can’t help but happily reciprocate.

Selena/Camilla:

Knowing that her adorable Selena has a bit of an inferiority complex, when Camilla gets caught under the mistletoe with her, she’s all alight with blushes and mentioning how blessed she is to be under the mistletoe with such a pretty girl. Selena burns bright pink, asks her if she set this up, to which Camilla absolutely will not give a committal answer. She’s all smiles and sweet caresses, asking if Selena would pretty please fulfill this tradition with her. Eyes darting away, the red headed girl agrees, but “only because it’s *you*, Lady Camilla”. With permission given, Camilla leans down and kisses Selena — softly at first, and then with more passion as it goes on. The two of them are kissing for a good moment when Selena finally breaks it off, gazing into Camilla’s eyes.

“That was… amazing, Lady Camilla… but you planned that, didn’t you?”

“Oh, of course I did, dear.”

Hana/Sakura:

Sakura would never have the courage to go after the mistletoe kiss, so this one is all Hana. And even then, I feel like it’s on somebody else’s suggestion. Probably Subaki’s. The girls have probably just finished enjoying some time in the Shirasagi Castle Town market, looking at various fashion items and cute trinkets, when they decide to stop into Sakura’s favourite sweet shop. The two of them are poking about, looking at all of the various snacks that they might be able to purchase, when a young girl points out that the two of them are caught under the mistletoe. Sakura blushes and smiles, and asks Hana if she would be okay to fulfill the tradition.

“Anything for you, Lady Sakura,” Hana giggles, a grin stretching across her face, and leans in to very softly kiss her princess… who can’t help but blush even harder when the little girl starts to clap.

Arthur/Azura:

You just know that Arthur wants to go out of his way to make her feel like the princess she is, and that it all goes wrong in a terrible in a way that she still appreciates. He probably plans this whole dinner date near this mistletoe spot, but as he’s taking her by the hand and leading her to it, there’s just this COLOSSAL fall, where he tumbles over their dinner set-up and worse, drags her with him, until they’re laying under the mistletoe. Azura is on top of his chest, her face hidden by her cascade of hair, and at first he’s worried that he’s ruined everything. Then, suddenly, he starts to hear laughter spill from her lips.

“You just wouldn’t be my Arthur if something like this didn’t happen,” she snickers, leaning down to kiss him. He tucks some hair behind her ear as their lips meet, the remaining fingers tangling in her blue locks, happy to have at least had some success with the mistletoe… even if it wasn’t exactly what he was envisioning.

Shiro/Siegbert:

Siegbert probably got roped into this situation by like, Forrest. Shiro is too oblivious, Siegbert is too nervous. Nobody for sure knows who sets up their mistletoe, but when the two princes are caught under it, their faces sure burn bright. Siegbert pretty much loses his ability for speech altogether, but Shiro assured him that they don’t have to kiss if he doesn’t want to. Siegbert feels awkward, but still thinks they should go through with it, so Shiro is more than ready to just plant a sweet one on him. It’s a little awkward, and probably kind of sloppy because Shiro’s leading, but it’s still nice.

Up until they get caught by their dads, that is. Then it’s embarrassing. Not that Ryoma and Xander mind much — just a few knowing, fatherly chuckles.

Orochi/Saizo:

Orochi, naturally, terrorizes Saizo into trying to get a mistletoe kiss. She runs around with the sprig, trying to get a kiss at random moments. Training? Smooch. Keeping an eye on Corrin? Smooch. Talking to his liege? Where’s Orochi’s kissy? Saizo, of course, follows through on none of them, which makes her quite pouty… Which makes it even better when Saizo eventually catches her on the way by, dangling a little bit of mistletoe over top of his head and beckoning her over. She flies over to him almost immediately, and with a pull down of his mask Spider-man style, the two of them share a loving kiss that Orochi will be thinking about forever…

It's Percy and Shigure as brothers. Shigure is Azura's son, Percy is Arthur's. So if Azura and Arthur marry, Percy and Shigure will be brothers. And I ship Azura and Arthur, it's one of my favorite Fates ships. So since there is very little art of them as bros, I commisioned Lynn!

This might be an unpopular opinion regarding the recent Ninja banner but I honestly think that Beruka would’ve been more fitting for this banner since the recent Ninja banner consists of Wyvern Riders.

Also, the reason why Beruka would’ve fitted more is asides from being a wyvern rider, she’s a professional assassin for one and she just gives me ninja vibes.

Nah, I don't think that's unpopular, I think that's actually a way better choice than Camilla getting a ninth alt.

... Like holy shit, Camilla has nine alts. Ugh.

I personally feel like the "Wyvern Ninja" theme was too restrictive as it was anyways, because that's such a limited number of Heroes to choose from. I guarantee they just wanted an excuse to put Camilla on the banner and everyone else was just an after-thought. Like I've been waiting for YEARS for Ninja Shura, especially because he was a legitimate ninja in Fates who was professionally trained to serve the royal family. It would be AMAZING to see him as a ninja!

... But sorry, yeah I got side-tracked. Anyways you're right, Beruka would have been the superior choice. Given that she can support with Saizo and has a background in assassination, seeing her in ninja garb would have been awesome. She's been in since day one like Cherche, but still hasn't gotten her alt yet. Plus her getting to enjoy a festival would be great for her character.

Unofficial Gay Fates 2.1.0 Is here! This update adds in 64 new supports, as well as implemented the new Custom Endings I showed off before! This release features 105 custom endings.

Big thanks to sketchi, who not only commissioned the code patch for the endings from Tildehat, but also wrote quite a few of the ones in this update! Also shoutouts to Tru and Tsunny, who wrote most of the other endings implemented, as well as their usual help coding supports.

Speaking of coding supports, this update would not have remotely as many new supports were it not for Cherrycrow, Mathcat, and Sylvie, who did the bulk of the coding work this update!

Hey Cyn, if you don't mind me asking, any thoughts on the Conquest cast?

I am absolutely happy to answer!

So I believe I am roughly half-way through the game, so this is a half-way impression. I will make a final one when I finish the game! (Haven't played Birthright yet).

So far I am loving Conquest.

I love Corrin. There is a lot of interesting elements and character development with them through Conquest's storyline. I find them compelling.

I am utterly perplexed with the hatred of Corrin. 'They're stupidly naive' they literally have been sheltered for their entire life? Didn't even know what BUGS looked like (Silas Support). 1/2

Also they are not nearly as naive as people make them out to be. They acknowledge how screwed up Nohr is. The idea to change within is extremely smart. They are hopeful. 2/2

'Everything centres around them' because they have ROYAL siblings in Nohr and Hoshido? They have influence in the ruling families, so of course all focus on Corrin??? Also wow siblings love their sibling or are angry with them so of course they'd focus on them???

I love the Nohr siblings so much. Each one of them is distinct. You can see how they truly care for one another, through one-on-one, a few at a time, and altogether. You can feel the love they have for Corrin and one another. Positive sibling bonds whoo!

Xander is playing the politics well. We don't see a lot of politics, but we still have an understanding of it through how he knows how his father acts. Kind and stern older brother.

Camilla is fascinating. She either acts sultry around others to appease them or to lower their guards, or overly doting mother-figure to the siblings (clearly they didn't know their mother well). Far smarter than she lets on. Love that.

I love Leo acting as 'I am a true Nohr noble, father; I do not care about bonds' in front of Grado, but we see that it is an act to not be seen as being far kinder and compassionate then he lets on.

I love how Elise, while being chirpy and optimistic, is no fool. The fact she's all 'if you kill Corrin, Father, then kill me too' with zero hesitation shows that she is unfortunately used to his abuse and rule. She's also shown to be cunningly smart like Leo.

I love how they are actually plotting against their abusive father without trying to rouse his suspicions.

Azura is way more fascinating than I expected! Eager to get her supports with the Nohr siblings (or if I miss out: watch online). So far my favourite supports have to do with her.

I love the dichotomy between Nohr siblings and Hoshido. The Hoshido group give me a vibe of 'royals first, family second', and I don't really feel that Takumi is close to his siblings. Nohr feels like 'siblings and royals'.

Silas is a wonderful character that needs more love damn it!

Jakob has more going for him than I thought when checking certain supports (Azura)! I like him!

Arthur is a caricature, sure, but I find him strangely endearing? I guess because he is so over-the-top (and reminds me of Sky High from 'Tiger and Bunny').

Effie is a godsend in battle.

Benny's taciturn nature intrigues me, funnily enough!

There's something likeable about Kaze, even though I don't know much about his personality through story.

I feel nothing for Nyx, Selena, Berkut and Gunter so far. Mainly because I benched them, and not a fan of the 'Awakening gang is here too; do you remember Awakening!?? (Selena, Laslow, etc).

Niles, Odin (Awakening I know), and Peri being 'torture chamber time' just makes me grin. What a bunch to be retainers to the Nohr siblings!

Charlotte is great. I laughed at her introduction. Her story is fun; acting cutesy to bag some rich partner, but actually has a sailor-mouth (well, the more kid friendly version).

Keaton's introduction also made me laugh, but he seems like a fun character!

The Fates Bracket Qualifier! Starts September 11th at 3pm EDT

Here's how it's going to work:

There are going to be 10 qualifying polls (six for the men, four for the women)

Pick your favorite from each poll

Polls will run for one week (I’d prefer 3 days but alas Tumblr doesn’t offer the option yet)

The top 32 male characters and the top 32 female characters will qualify for the men’s and women’s brackets

Qualifier 2 (Hinoka, Kagero, Setsuna, Oboro, Camilla, Peri, Selena, Beruka, Nyx*)

Qualifier 3 (Sophie, Mitama, Caeldori, Rhajat, Selkie, Soleil, Ophelia, Nina, Velouria)

Qualifier 4 (Candace, Daniela, Mikoto, Layla, Cassita, Arete, Reina, Orochi, Scarlet)

I am also adding a Google Form to submit characters for an enby bracket so Limstella, Kyza, and Bramimond don't get left out. These can be characters from any game as long as there is canon basis for them being nonbinary.

Characters who are excluded from voting:

Anyone who obviously both looks and acts like a literal child. Some characters are borderline so discretion may be used

Generics

Anyone who lacks either a portrait or a unique name

Characters not in human form (e.g. Human!Anankos is included but Dragon!Anankos is not)

Characters who are technically included in Fates via Einherjar or Amiibo, but would fit better with another game's poll (e.g. Marth)

*Yes I know Nyx looks young, but considering she's canonically very old + her entire thing is that she actually acts her age even if she doesn't look it, I've decided to allow her

**Forrest canonically refers to himself as a man so he's going with the men

***Hana and Effie are not included because they are canonically supposed to be around the same age as Sakura and Elise respectively. Given the absolute oldest Sakura can possibly be is ~15 (and Elise is likely younger) it seemed fair to exclude them too.
