Dexter Morgan x fem!reader
Word Count: 1.9k
Warnings: murder on both the reader and dexters side, cover ups, mentions of crime scenes but nothings too detailed, the reader and dexter are both serial killers, allusions to smut. This is fictional and I obviously don’t condone any of the actions made in this fic
Author’s Note: i miss him <3 :(
Summary: Dexter realizes one of the recent crime scenes he’s been set up to investigate is one you, his girlfriend, committed
I don’t own these characters. They belong to author/director/creator

Dexter Morgan was a nice man. He brought in donuts in the morning and always remembered everyones favorites. You were fairly certain he did it just to maintain appearances but it was nice regardless. You liked that he had his own little section of blood stuff and you liked that his face went dead when he thought no one was looking. You could only imagine his inner dialogue with the faces he made sometimes.
Dexter liked you too. He liked that your desk was facing his desk instead of Debs. If it was Debra she would mention every two seconds when he wasn’t doing something. You left notes on the edge of your desk and he left them back where he knew you would see them. It was his only form of communication some days when masking was harder.
Today he had a sticky note on his desk that said, ‘two lemon filled donuts?’
You were writing something back when you decided you wanted those lemon filled donuts now so you just got up. You walked over to him and knocked gently on the desktop.
“Come on in,” he muttered, face staring at the computer in front of him. You smiled and slid across the floor to where he was sitting.
“Donuts?” you questioned pleasantly. He nodded, shoving the box towards you. You grabbed a donut and had a bite, wiping the glaze off your lips as you chewed.
“I saved yours. Why weren’t you here this morning?”
“Someone kept me up last night. Waiting. Watching out the window. Wondering if he would ever return,” you said wistfully, giving him a look. He leaned back in his chair.
“You know where I was. I can’t rush that,” he muttered, knowing no one was listening to you two but whispering it anyway. You nodded, swallowing the bite you were chewing.
“Well I’m much faster than you. You’re too meticulous.”
“And I haven't been caught, yeah?” “Neither of I!” you whispered. You crossed your arms.
“You have less of a problem then I do, you know that,” he muttered. He went back to his computer. You sat on his desk, looking down at what he was staring at. There was a profile up on someone you didn’t recognize. No case that you were working on.
“Who’s that?”
“A problem,” he muttered. “You’re getting donuts all over my computer.” He handed you a napkin, which you took gratefully.
“Sorry.” You put the donut down on the napkin.
“You coming by tonight?”
“Of course. Are you gonna be there?”
“Depends,” he muttered. “On if this man goes to the gym tonight.”
“You know Dex, you really are charming.” You brushed his hair back and kissed his forehead. He swatted you away but was smiling warmly as you left. You took your donut with you to your desk and went back to your case. You messed with your ring and flicked at the edge of it where there was a speck of red on it. You rubbed it with your thumb until it was gone from the naked eye. You didn’t realize you had been wearing your rings the other night.
Dexter would kill you for that.
Not literally though.
-
You really loved Dexter’s place. Sometimes when you were on your way you took a detour to the water and hung out around it. Dexter liked to take forever to get places anyway so you usually had time. But that night you decided to go straight up the stairs through the front door, using your key to get in.
As you suspected, he wasn’t there when you arrived. You didn’t mind. You walked to the kitchen and opened up some cabinets, wondering if you needed to force him to go shopping again. He was a timely guy when he wanted to be. Shopping was never a time he wanted to be. Your phone, which you had placed on the counter, was ringing. You answered it and put it on speaker.
“Heya!”
“Are you at my brother's place?” Deb asked through the phone. You took out a box of Cheez-Its and opened it, trying to determine if they were stale.
“Yes ma’am,” you said, taking a bite. You made a face and threw the box in the trash. Yeah. He definitely needed to go shopping.
“Awesome. Can you do something for me?”
“Depends. What are you offering me?”
“Nothing. Brownie points. I don’t fucking know, aren’t we gonna be sister in laws one day? Shouldn’t we be helping each other out?” You had a mouthful of packaged popcorn.
“Is Dexter proposing?”
“No. Well not that I know of. Anyway, please.”
“Yes Deb. What do I need to do?” She breathed out in what seemed to be relief. You looked out the window. The sun was starting to set over the water.
“Dexter has like, a whole box of paperwork. It should be on his couch or something.” You grabbed your phone and walked over. There was a box of evidence sitting right where she said it would be. You opened it up.
“I see it.”
“Is there a red file? Like maroon. Fucking red.” You picked up the only red file and opened it up.
“It is in my hands.”
“Okay awesome. Fucking fantastic. I’m gonna come over and get it.”
“Why?” you asked, opening it up. You held back a gasp. You knew that crime scene. You knew those crime scene pictures. That was your crime scene. Dexter had a file on a crime you committed here and Debra wanted it.
“I’ve been working on some theories but he’s trying to work this one on his own for some reason. I don’t know why I mean, shit all you know, he’s not even an actual detective. He’s just a blood guy. Not that he couldn’t be a detective I just mean it isn’t his juris-”
“I got it Deb. He’s not here, are you sure you wanna come by?”
“Yeah he won’t mind.”
“I don’t know. You said he was trying to deal with this by himself?”
“I’ll see you soon!” She hung up the phone. You cursed under your breath. Why hadn’t Dexter told you about this? You sat down on the couch and flipped through the papers, breathing heavily. You didn’t expect to see this crime scene ever again. You had hidden it well.
The door opened. You stood up, expecting Deb but was more than pleased to see Dexter. He let out a sigh at the sight of you and then froze at the sight of what you were holding.
“Were you gonna tell me your sister is investigating this?”
“She’s not. I’m burying it.” He shut the door behind him and walked to the vent. He opened it up. He grabbed the box from inside.
“How the hell did they find it?”
“I don’t know. I told you to dismember-”
“I know you did. I remember the hundreds of conversations we had on the topic. This is not where I left her.”
“Where did you leave her?”
“In the fucking lake,” you muttered. “Why is she not in the lake?”
“She was found in the woods. I was trying to handle it before you found out. The hope was, you wouldn’t find out,” he said. He put his blood slide in and put the box back.
“How are you going to bury this?”
“Things go unsolved every day. Nothing about you was on the body. I just don’t want them investigating.”
“Well your sister-”
There was a knock on the door. You both turned. Dexter carefully put the vent back on the wall. You handed him the file and he walked past you into the bedroom. You opened the door.
“Hey! Is Dexter back?” Deb asked. You nodded, gesturing to where he walked. He came back quickly, a strained smile on his face.
“Were you trying to sneak attack me?” he accused.
“Yes actually. Where’s the files?”
“They aren’t here. She saw the wrong ones,” he explained. Deb let out an annoyed sigh.
“Stop lying to me. What is with you and this stupid case? It’s just one person, I know, but we still owe it to them-”
“I know that. That’s why I was taking the lead on it.”
“Come on Dexter.”
“It’s not here.” He shrugged incredulously. She let out an annoyed sigh and leaned on the door, gesturing to the kitchen.
“You need to go shopping. I’m going back to work and checking your desk.”
“You do that.”
“It was nice seeing you Y/N!” Deb called as she opened the door.
“You too!” But the door was already shut. You turned to Dexter. “You do need to go shopping.” He rolled his eyes.
“That’s what you’re worried about? You could go to jail if she sees anything I don’t.” You scoffed, walking up to him. You put his hands on his upper arms.
“She won’t. You’re Dexter Morgan. She won’t find something you won't find first.”
“You have a lot of faith in my eyesight.”
“Cause I like your eyes.” You shrugged. “Thank you for doing all this. I didn’t even know about this and you were already covering me. Thank you.”
“I like yours too,” he breathed, semi awkwardly. “Your eyes.”
“I figured.” You backed away. “We’re going shopping tomorrow. For food.”
“I figured,” he repeated.
“Your shoulders were tense.”
“Odd thing to note considering my girlfriends murder victim was just found and is being investiagted by my sister.”
“I was referring to your night. Was it eventful?”
“Always.” You walked back to the kitchen and leaned against the counter he followed you.
“Where’d you put the folder Dex?”
“Under my pillow. Well, it would be your pillow if you wanna sleep over tonight,” he said, standing in front of you. You looked him in the eyes.
“Only we would chat about bed arrangements after murder.”
“I like it about us. I think it keeps us fresh.” You smiled gently and shrugged.
“It’s certainly unique.” You kissed him. He hadn’t ever really liked kissing before he met you. Now it was pleasant. He wasn’t obsessed but he certainly never minded when your lips were on his. He put his hand on your hip out of pure instinct. You were comfortable with each other and he always appreciated that.
“I’m gonna shower,” he muttered against your lips.
“I’m gonna head to bed soon anyway.” He nodded once, kissing you gently and then backing away. His hand lingered on your waist until he was too far away to touch you.
“Join me?” he mused as he was walking away.
“Thought you would never ask!”

Do you ever sometimes do something stupid, and immediately regret it? And do you ever sometimes make a big mistake to try and correct the last smaller mistake, then another to try to correct the one before that, but instead, it just snowballs until you’re in an avalanche of shit?
Well, Debra Morgan does, often. And she does it all at the exact same time.
Arguably, her first mistake was becoming a vice cop in the first place. But that life choice aside, the precursor to her current dilemma was undoubtedly getting involved with the most dangerous man on her side of the country. Not only was her physical safety at stake every day she spent with him, but even being away from him was dangerous, especially when the rivals who hated and envied him paid close attention to the associates he seemed to keep closest. She supposed it shouldn’t have been as much of a shock as it was when she was abruptly pulled into a blacked out SUV by two known associates of the local street gang that had been mostly ousted ever since the rise of the Third Street Saints. With her hands zip-tied behind her back, she’d tried to call her undercover handler for help... but instead of managing to hit the name of Sergeant ‘Mordini,’ she, instead, dialed ‘Michael,’ and left the line open.
Probably forty some minutes later, in a dumpy little warehouse that the mules had spent fifteen minutes loudly arguing about its location, and with a bruised, throbbing cheek and split lip earned from that sassy, sarcastic mouth of hers, Debra kneels over one of the men, barely conscious on the floor, her knee in his back and the mouth of her government issued handgun pressed hard against the back of his skull. His partner had left only a few minutes ago, and Debra had taken the opportunity to fight for her life before he returned with the authority to off her. After a brief and somewhat frightening struggle, Deb shot a round right beside his head, and bashed him over it in the recoil. Her ears were still ringing, which is perhaps why she didn’t hear the door open and the approaching footsteps a few moments later.
“You stupid dirtbag, calling me a fucking whore. You don’t know who the FUCK you’re talking to—!”
Tumblr media
Her attention is drawn abruptly by a shadow that extends over the body, and with a gasp she quickly retrains her weapon onto the intruder with a precision that no simple street girl would have. It takes less than a full second for her to feel her stomach drop and her heart fill her throat, jaw dropped in shock.
“W--What the fuck?” She says, so softly it’s nearly imperceptible to her own ears. “How... uh...” Stunned, she looks down at the body sprawled under her as he releases a pained groan, and then quickly moved her sights off of the ‘friendly’ face before her and back toward the male’s head. When she looks back up, and clears her throat to speak a little louder. “M-Michael... baby,” she tries to sound relieved, happy, despite feeling nothing but horrified. “I’m-- thank God you found me...” Worth a shot. It’s been a nice life. // @torfol !!!

LEARNING DISABILITIES
Name of strategy:  Repeated and monitored oral reading
Use of strategy:  For use in all content areas and grade levels
Focus of strategy:  Fluency, comprehension, phonological awareness, alphabetics
Explanation of strategy:  Repeated reading is simple to execute and can be done with any type of book. As a sample, you can follow these guidelines for choosing the right text.
Choose a text that is approximately 50-200 words.
Select a passage that is decodable but not predictable.
Use a text that is between the student's instructional     and frustration levels—they should mostly be able to read it without your     help but this will mean that decoding and mistakes will be made.
Introduce the passage to them and provide background information as needed. The student should read the passage aloud. You can provide definitions for difficult words that they encounter but let them pronounce them on their own and try to figure them out for themselves first.
Have students re-read the passage up to three times until their reading is smooth and efficient. The goal is for their reading to come as close to authentic language as possible. You may choose to use a fluency chart to track their progress.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name of strategy:  Modeling fluent reading
Use of strategy:  For use in all content areas and grade levels
Focus of strategy:  Fluency, comprehension, phonological awareness, alphabetics
Explanation of strategy:  In order to read fluently, students must first hear and understand what fluent reading sounds like. From that they will be able to transfer those experiences into their own reading. The most powerful way for you to help students is to read aloud to them, often and with great expression. Following a read-aloud session, ask students: "After listening to how I read, can you tell me what I did that is like what good readers do?" Encourage students to share their thoughts. Also, ask students to think about how a fluent reader keeps a listener engaged. Choose selections carefully in order to expose them to a wide variety of subjects including poetry, excerpts from speeches, and folk and fairy tales with rich, lyrical language.  These are all texts that will spark students' interests and draw them into the reading experience with enthusiasm.

 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name of strategy:  Use of graphic organizers
Use of strategy:  For use in all content areas and grade levels
Focus of strategy:  Comprehension, organization, investigation, recall
Explanation of strategy:  Graphic organizers are useful and easy tools that can visualize and organize information. They are often used as prompts for students to construct ideas, organize and sequence information, plan what to write, increase reading comprehension, brainstorm, organize problems and solutions, compare and contrast ideas, show cause and effect, and more. What the students need to do in most cases is to fill in the blanks. The ability to color-code thoughts in a picture can help significantly in understanding and remembering the information. Graphic organizers benefit students who use them in the following aspects:
Help students structure the     writing project.
Encourage students to judge the     pros and cons of making decisions.
Generate, classify ideas     easily, and communicate in brainstorm.
Examine relationships.
Guide students to demonstrate     their thinking process.
Increase reading comprehension
Organize and compare essential     concepts and ideas.
Sequence and break a story into     the main elements (intro, rising action, climax, and more).
There are many types and varieties of graphic organizers that can be utilized, the one below is but one of many.
The cause and effect diagram, also known as an Ishikawa or fishbone diagram, refers to a graphical tool used to display a list of causes related to a specific effect. It organizes these potential causes in groups.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name of strategy:  Summarization
Use of strategy:  For use in all content areas and grade levels
Focus of strategy:  Comprehension, recall, organization
Explanation of strategy:  Summarizing teaches students how to pick out the most important ideas in a text, how to ignore irrelevant information, and how to integrate the central ideas in a meaningful way. Teaching students to summarize improves their memory for what is read and can be used in virtually every content area.  Begin by reading OR have students listen to the text selection.  Ask students the following framework questions:  What are the main ideas?  What are the crucial details necessary for supporting the ideas?  What information is irrelevant or unnecessary?  Have them use key words or phrases to identify the main points from the passage.
·         It helps students learn to discern essential ideas and group together the important details that support them.
·         It enables students to focus on the key words and phrases of an assigned text that are noteworthy and should be remembered.
·         It teaches students how to take a large section of text and reduce it to the main points for better understanding.
There are numerous ways to handle summarization, from simple to elaborate.  A good summary is short and to the point. The following easy summarizing strategies will help students choose the correct details from the text and write about them clearly and concisely.
SAAC Method
The SAAC method is another useful technique for summarizing any kind of text (such as a story, an article, or a speech). SAAC is an acronym for "State, Assign, Action, Complete." Each word in the acronym refers to a specific element that should be included in the summary.
State:     the name of the article, book, or story
Assign:     the name of the author
Action:     what the author is doing (example: tells, explains)
Complete:     complete the sentence or summary with keywords and important details
5 W's, 1 H
The Five W's, One H strategy relies on six crucial questions: who, what, when, where, why, and how. These questions make it easy to identify the main character, important details, and main idea.
Who is     the story about?
What did     they do?
When did     the action take place?
Where did     the story happen?
Why did     the main character do what s/he did?
How did     the main character do what s/he did?
 First Then Finally
The "First Then Finally" technique helps students summarize events in chronological order. The three words represent the beginning, main action, and conclusion of a story, respectively:
First:     What happened first? Include the main character and main event/action.
Then:     What key details took place during the event/action?
Finally:     What were the results of the event/action?
Give Me the Gist
When someone asks for "the gist" of a story, they want to know what the story is about. In other words, they want a summary—not a retelling of every detail. To introduce the gist method, explain that summarizing is just like giving a friend the gist of a story, and have your students tell each other about their favorite books or movies in 15 seconds or less. You can use the gist method as a fun, quick way to practice summarizing on a regular basis.

Name of strategy:  Peer tutoring spelling game.
Use of strategy:  For use in all content areas and grade levels
Focus of strategy:  Written expression, phonological awareness, fluency, comprehension, recall, interpersonal skills.
Explanation of strategy:  The game was designed to improve spelling accuracy on weekly tests by increasing "opportunities to respond" through the use of several procedures (social and token reinforcement, team competition, distributed practice, error correction, peer tutoring, and team competition).  Vocabulary words are chosen to assist the students with their daily quizzes. Students should be randomly paired with other students and placed on either the red or blue team each week that the game is employed. Students participate in tutoring for a total of 20 minutes a day. Students act as both tutors and tutees, switching roles after ten minutes. Points are earned for correct answers and added to their team’s scores after each day’s session.  This exercise has been consistently very effective in raising spelling test scores as well as improving students’ ability to work with their peers.

— what happened to dexter morgan that made him a serial killer?
A happy childhood ended in tragedy, to create two boys who would grow up to be serial killers. ... His now adoptive sister Debra asks their father why he never told them what happened to Dexter's real parents, something Dexter looks to his father about for answers as he knew they died but didn't know the true facts behind it … [Dexter Wiki]
PROBABLY ONE OF THE MOST famous fictional serial killers in modern history is Dexter Morgan, from the American tv-series Dexter. With over one-hundred victims spanning over the course of twenty years, he is one of the most successful killers. An important question is why he became a serial killer in the first place.
childhood: from a happy childhood to a traumatic memory When Dexter Morgan was still a toddler he witnessed the murder of his mother. This was the starting point of what was going to happened to him in the future. Before his mother's murder, however, he enjoyed a relatively normal childhood. He was born as Dexter Moser on 1 February 1971 to Laura Moser and Joseph Driscoll. He had an older brother, Brian, who he lived with together with their mother on 1235 Mangrove Drive, Miami, Florida.
Dexter would later state his earliest memory was his time spent at his mother's house, playing hide-and-seek around the house together with his mother and brother. As a child, he was energetic, happy, who always seemed to be laughing. In contrast, Brian was more quiet, more reserved, but he showed strong affection for his "baby brother" often holding him in his arms, as of protecting him from an unknown force. This type of childhood would continue, for instance, after Dexter hurt himself while riding a skateboard, Brian comforted him with putting a band-aid on his scraped knee.
It was not always great, however. Laura Moser was a drug addict, likely stemming from her boyfriend, Joe Driscoll, returning from the Vietnam War, starting his drug problem just after. It would never affect her relationship and love for her sons, but it would put her to risk with law enforcement. Eventually, she would meet Detective Harrison "Harry" Morgan, leading to her being his informant in the Estrada cartel. Laura would provide information that would help bring down the kingpin. She was, in the beginning, worried that it could be a risk to both her sons and herself if she excepted, but Harry assured her that nothing dangerous would happen.
Seemingly, Harry Morgan could not be more wrong. On 3 October 1973, Laura, her sons and other drug users were hurdled into a shipper container, by Estrada's henchmen. While the unnamed drug users become victims to a chainsaw, used by Santos Jimenez, Laura did not want her sons to see her be slain right in front of their eyes. The henchmen did not comply with her begging. As a last resort, she turned to Dexter and told him: "Close your eyes […] Mommy loves you" before she was murdered.
The three henchmen managed to exit the area, while Dexter and Brian sat there for two days before the first human opened the container door, Detective Harry Morgan. He eventually spotted the two boys, holding each other by hand. Harry only picked up Dexter, and as the boys were separated from each other they tried to hold on to one another, eventually slipping away. Harry looked into Brian's eyes and saw, what Brian himself would say, "a fucked up kid" and left the container.
Brian was recovered immediately after Harry told the other officers, however, he held onto Dexter, reassuring to the little boy that everything would be alright. As he walked to his car, Dexter looked upon the crime scene without any emotion, a look of a boy who had changed.
adolescence: new family, new memories, new personality Dexter was taken in by the Morgan family at the age of three, but he was not formally adopted until the age of seven. When he was shown the birth certificate, Dexter looked confused, saying that he always thought he was a Morgan. Harry responded that to them he was always one, the difference was that it was now official.
Because of what he has gone through; the loss of his biological mother in a massacre and sitting in her blood for about to days, it is bound to have side effects. Which it did, but the effects did not become evident until his adolescence. The first sign, that at least Harry saw that something was wrong, was the time Dexter had killed a neighbour's dog. Dexter's reason for killing the dog and later burying the body was because it was a "noisy little creep" and that it disturbed his ill mother's sleep. Harry then asks if he ever wanted to kill something bigger, like a human. Dexter answers that yes, he wanted to, just no specific person, but he never did it because he was scared they – his parents – would not like it. Harry from this point in time wanted to shield and help Dexter from killing someone.
After this is where the special code comes in; the Code of Harry. Fearing that someone was psychologically wrong with Dexter, Harry sought help from Dr Evelyn Vogel, a neuropsychiatrist who specialises in profiling psychopaths. After evaluating the stories Harry had told, she not only diagnosed Dexter with the classic traits of a psychopath – the killing of small animals and shallow emotions – but that he had the traits of a will-become killer.
Dr Vogel, recognising that it would be impossible to control all his urges, instead suggested that they could try to control specific ones. Originally, the idea was to control his urges to kill animals, only for them to realise that the killing of animals would not be enough to satisfy Dexter. Thus the Code was created. Harry handled the majority of the details, Dr Vogel created the guidance.
Harry, from the guidance of the Code, trained his son to be normal during his adolescent years, helping him blend into society as well as he could. One of these aspects was the capability of feeling and showing emotion, which Dexter was incapable of doing. An incident that was really important was at the beach. A photo was being taken, a family photo of the Morgans. it is a warm, sunny day, everyone is smiling, except Dexter. Harry catches onto this, and he asked Dexter what is bothering him. His answer is that he does not like the beach, refusing to smile because of the slimy, nasty, sandy feeling. Harry explains that he has to deal with it, not just to make his mother happy, but to also blend in. Dexter nods in understanding, going back to his family, taking the photograph of his first successful "fake" smile.
early adulthood: his first human victim During his first years as an adult, his father had fallen ill of coronary artery disease. Harry was for a time confined to a hospital bed. During Harry's time there, Dexter spotted a nurse named Mary. He noticed that something was off about her. She murdered her patients by slowly overdosing them on morphine, delusional with thinking she was helping them by "taking their pain away."
As Harry was one of her patients, he gave Dexter his permission to kill her, in order to stop her from killing anybody else. He waited inside Mary's house to strike. His method would be mostly the same one he used in his later murders, such as covering everything in sheets of plastic and strapping the victim to a long and flat surface. While Mary did put up a fight, he managed to strap her down and stab her to death, to later dispose of her remains in the Everglades swamp. This was Dexter's first murder.
