I don't know how accurate this is to BB!DarkStripe but I think it's funny to imagine that the only time he has true power over anybody is when he's in the little Dark Forest Kitchen(more like Hell's Kitchen) and yelling at everybody like Gordon Ramsay. He's screaming at all of these demons - who could very easily kill him in a single second - that their cooking skills fucking suck and they all have their heads down in shame like "Yes chef, sorry chef"

It's accurate. In BB, demons can't kill other demons as long as they're under the protection of the Dark Forest, they'll just pop back into existence the next day if killed.

So even more than having to be nice to the best cook in Hell, if you DID kill him, he would just come back and make sure you get negative servings at the next dinner party.

Tbh Darkstripe living is one if the reasons why I like Bonefall's rewrite. He becomes the DF chef, and its cool

I fucking love what Bonefall is doing with DarkStripe. Thank god they didn't just kill him off because "it's funny". I've always been a big fan of "DarkStripe isn't good at being a Warrior but that's okay, he's amazing at cooking and herb identification and other stuff"

Also bb!darkstripe was given an apron marking because he's hell's line cook and now I only imagine him as sounding like Bob Belcher

You've probably mentioned this before and I just haven't seen it cus I'm a new follower but what is Darkstripe's Land Marr ((think that's what they are called))

I had not mentioned it yet! I'm between two choices, depending.

Choice 1: Blackshade Grove

There were a lot of Worst Moments in his life, but the most shameful was poisoning Sorrelkit. He gave her nightshade, and told her it was blackberry. They're both purple berries, and the eager little kitten always had an interest in cooking.

(This is how Sorreltail got her epilepsy. Nightshade causes brain damage; yew causes heart failure.)

So in this grove, you have to be paying very close attention to the bushes to tell what you're looking at. The strange, clustered nightshades are impossible to discern from blackberry.

Darkstripe takes it on himself to be the test subject, over and over and over. At first it was just the Dark Forest's sick taunt, that he could either get fresh blackberries or "die" a painful death. Once he has friends to feed, it becomes a frustrating obstacle he's determined to doggedly power through.

So eventually the bushes are "marked," safe or unsafe, depending on if they poisoned someone or not.

Choice 2: Bonehill

What's worse than poisoning a lil baby? Poisoning a lil baby for a man who will ALWAYS see you as absolutely fucking pathetic. Throwing away your Clan, your family, your entire life's passion and talents for an idea that would never include you.

So for this idea, the Land Mar is basically this arena-version of the TigerClan camp. There's a nightmarish version of Stonefur who will thrash you for getting too close. There are blackberry bushes that sprout from between the bones of the hill, guarded by "Bonefur" as if he's some kind of dragon.

(Note: this "Dummy" version of Stonefur is not Stone himself. Though I do want StarClan to use this dummy in one of Blackstar's trials, somehow. So I'm not sure if Stonefur made it and they pull it out whenever Blackstar makes another attempt for Life 3, or if the Dark Forest made it and StarClan uses it.)

During Tigerstar's Plan in OoTS, the demons probably appropriated this area. They had to collectively fight Bonefur to "neutralize" it. Tigerstar probably pulled out all the berry bushes off the Bonehill and tossed them away, with Darkstripe not voicing how much it hurt to see Tigerstar toss those away.

Can't admit how badly he wanted to eat them, lest he be seen as weak and distracted again. Before Tigerstar's double death, he was STILL trying to appease him by hiding what he sees as "weakness."

This one fits in with the story better, but it might depend on who else dies in TigerClan. I actually want a demon to have been EXECUTED under the Bonehill, for being HalfClan, having a forbidden love revealed, or some generally disobedient behavior.

(Maybe even in "retaliation" for the others escaping, even though they had demonstrably nothing to do with it)

Show that TigerClan was frothing and radical. Fervent supporters got drowned in its wake along with its innocent victims. So, having that person contribute the Bonehill would be cool.

Lol imagine BB!Darkstripe gets Sainthooded (idk if this is good gramer) as the chef to call on when you fuck up ingredients while cooking. At first he's kinda pissed about it, but he's like you know what? I'll take it. "Okay you mouse brain, here's how you fix this..."

That is VERY funny, imagine fucking up your dinner SO badly that you can't call upon heaven to fix this, no no, only HELL can help you.

StarClan Patrons = Invoked a process where you call upon StarClan to put you through to them, like an operator. More powerful, but informs StarClan itself of your prayer and intention.

Dark Forest Demons = Channelled You make a sacrifice of an item connected to them in life so that they will come to you directly. A forbidden type of magic.

Darkstripe's channeling item would be belladonna berries-- nightshade. The type that he used to poison Sorrelkit. He also technically died under his Dishonor Title (as Tigerstar didn't have the authority to change it) so you'd have to call upon him as Belladonnaheart.

(the DF doesn't use that title because they are demons, defying StarClan is sort of their thing, but it would cause a quirk in magic rituals.)

Like imagine being SO embarrassed by your cooking that you can't allow Heaven to look at this. If grannie finds out how badly you bungled her Beejam Bites she'll smite you with lightning. So you channel hell's line cook instead.

i genuinely love your darkstripe. i love that maybe if he had been apprenticed to literally anyone else, he would've been ok. he just wants to cook and help people but was doomed by a poison the minute he was apprenticed to Tigerclaw. he makes me so sad thinking about what he could've been

Sometimes it just takes one bad influence to destroy your whole life, and the worst part is, you won't be able to blame them. They'll make you into someone who does it to yourself. You'll ruin everything with your own two hands, all for them.

Make no mistake; Darkstripe was loved. Sure, he has no father, but he has a mom, Dappletail. His uncle Thrushpelt is the deputy, and absolutely adores him. He was always getting into trouble with his sister Cricketclaw, Bluestar gives up a life killing a badger to save them. He was born into a good family. He wasn't an unhappy child.

But he wanted to please Tigerclaw, more than anything. He wanted to be the best, most noble warrior. He'd do anything for him. He'd be anything. If that meant killing his hobbies, or distancing himself from his family, or sacrificing all of his free time, he'd do it. Anything to strengthen his Clan.

Who could deny that Tigerclaw had raised a fine soldier?

And when he was given Longpaw, in turn, he expected the same of him. And Longtail did it to Swiftpaw. A long line, from Thistleclaw all the way down to the dogs.

There's nothing special about it. And there's not even anything special about Darkstripe. There is no spark of darkness within him, or even within Tigerclaw. Just hurt people, hurting people, who go on to hurt even more people.

Darkstripe wouldn't want your pity, though. Or anyone else's. I think he thinks it's pretty pathetic, really, now that Tigerclaw and the Battle of the True Eclipse are so far away. He threw his whole life away just so he could willingly be miserable. It's fucking embarrassing.

More embarrassing than the satisfaction he gets from cooking a stupid little nice meal for these cutesy happy dumb dopes. So he may as well do this, if he's going to cringe at everything anyway.

My only exposure to BB!Darkstripe is through your Leopardfoot post and I already love him in the df. Darkstripe my beloved. Actually all of the df demons my beloved.

I think it's going to be VERY fun in the end of TBC where Ashfur escapes to the Dark Forest and like half of the demons are like... "Who. Are you."

Arrives in the middle of a dinner party where they're eating black puddingcakes and sauteed rattails and Darkstripe looks up from his cauldron like, "i didnt make extra and im not feeding all of starclan"

He probably ate someone and that scared them into following him right quick... but, there's definitely a noticeable difference between the cats who are doing it willingly (Mapleshade, Adderfang, Houndleap) and the ones who are just scared of permadeath (Darkstripe)

Basically the DF is a whole faction now, just like StarClan.

And Darkstripe is actually going to give up when Rootspring gets possessed by the half-ghost of Hawkfrost. Man gives an effort but as soon as he realizes he's beat he's like, "oh this is bullshit. I give up. I'm so fucking done get off me im not doing this"

Dapple/Graykin drama with Dark as the most controversial center is actually everything to me. Darkstripe taking Graykit and running to save him during the plague. Growing more distant from his family and then leaving them. Helping participate in what Tigerclan did to Storm and Feather (his brothers kids!!!!) and also existing in the Dark Forest at the same time as Blossom (another Gray kid.

The Blossom thing actually really gets me because they were both kind of taken of advantage of for their insecurities. I'm not sure if Dark is self aware enough to connect the dots and see the way he was also kinda taken advantage of, especially since I kinda get the vibe he would avoid Blossom

I wonder if he was her Dark Forest mentor? Weird little dude

If Tigerstar even thought about assigning Darkstripe as Blossomfall's mentor it would make him miserable. Blossomfall is such a Mean Girl she would rip him to shreds lmao

That's before Dark feels like he has the freedom to act on his real talent as a chef, remember. He only begins to explore it once the alpha baboons have choked on the poison garbage (double died in their stupid BOTTE), so at this point he's just a middling lackey with a cringefail history
