Blake has had a rough decade. After an unlucky event that turned her into a ghost and a ridiculous amount of family trouble (Which including leaving behind her pet cat), it seemed like the end of the world was coming to top it all off. Just great. This BC seemed like the perfect opportunity. Blake would get to escape from impending doom, and get the chance to meet someone who wouldn’t care about their past. So, who are you? Tell me a little bit about yourself. Name, gender, where you’re from, career path, MBTI–you know, basic stuff.

My names Blake Olwen. I’m non binary - I guess female aligned but I usually prefer they/them pronouns. I’m from Moonlight Falls originally, but glad to be leaving. Things haven't been the same since I mucked up that one spell and became a ghost. It’s about time I start over in a new place. Career path would be author for sure. I’m sure it’s even easier to be a successful author when the apocalypse happens and people are begging for something new to read.

What’s something you’re particularly talented at?

Well I used to be pretty talented at magic. Unfortunately when I started messing with bigger spells my bad luck got in the way and - Well, I’m a ghost now so you can see just how well that went. I guess my talents now are that I’m a pretty good writer. Oh and I can read books pretty quickly but I don’t know If I’d call that a talent.

You don’t plan on using that talent for evil, do you?

For evil? Sure. I’ll speed read the Necronomicon or something.

How’s your family doing? Did they come on the trip with you, or did you leave them to possibly die? (I’m kidding.)

My family have disowned me since I ruined the legacy of every firstborn child being a magical genius. With me disowned they can pretend my younger sister is the firstborn and act like I never existed. Oh well. If the apocalypse comes and kills them they can use their stupid magic to get out of it on their own. The only one I’ll be sad about is the old pet cat Thompson.

What’s your vision for this new life?

A fresh start. Endless time to write my stories and no more reminders of my wasted time alive. Also maybe a pet cat and a person to cuddle with who doesn't hate me for my past. The whole ghost thing has been a huge hurdle in dating.

Do you have any dating history? How’d it go?

The past couple people I’ve dated have said I’m too snarky and sassy to deal with. Their loss.

What are some hobbies of yours? (I did ask about talents, but you don’t necessarily have to be any good at something to like it.)

Taking care of stray cats. Scaring people now that I’m a spooky ghost. You know, the usual.

Consider living here a blank slate from this point on, but… did you have a criminal record back in SimNation? Don’t worry if you did. I did too.

I mean... Technically? It’s illegal to cast the spell that killed me, but since I died in the process no one really attempted to press charges.

How about a random fact about yourself?

Uh, I named my first cat “Snuggle Worm” does that work?

Why’d you sign up for this BC? Besides the obvious “I wanna live, thank you”–you could’ve just come without trying to get in the BC, y'know.

If I’m gonna start over, I want someone to start over with. It’s no fun being alone forever.

How are you feeling right now? Excited? Scared? Numb?

Probably more excited than anything. It’s been a long time since I’ve done something new. I’m ready for whatever comes my way.

🥖 - Food Headcanon?

Already answered for Norbert. As for the others, Douglas would be the barbecue dad of the group, he’d have the corniest aprons and also prefers using charcoal over propane when grilling {don’t tell Hank Hill}. While she’s not usually allowed in the kitchen, the one thing that Melanie can cook very well is her grandmother’s amazingly delicious apple pie. Olwen doesnt like to waste food, neither does she like it when others waste food. Since money was tight for Olwen & Aklaq, there were days where they’d go without food {Aklaq always tried her best to make sure that Olwen was fed though}. Hunting and fishing weren’t always possible back then either, so she appreciates any food that comes her way.

🗡 - Badass Headcanon?

Douglas loves tattoos, he has the outline of a compass on the back of one of his hands and his emblem tattooed on his upper back just to name a few. Melanie is an expert when it comes to training horses, even the wildest of horses are no match for her {they call her the horse whisperer back on the farm}. Norbert’s best time solving a rubix cube is 30 seconds {yes this is badass idc}. Since she trains her mouth muscles to hold one of her swords, Olwen’s jaw strength is incredible. Rumour has it that she can bite through metal, but that can’t possibly be true… or is it?

Tuesday comment fic! The fabulous MadImagination caught one of my nerdy easter eggs (that Matthew Bellamy of the Luminaria was inspired by Bellamy Blake, from the 100). They wanted to see future fic of Percival being a good dad who is still ridiculously in love with his husband.

Graves Manor, April 1934

Credence woke up and found Percival’s side of the bed empty. He ran a hand across the mattress and found it cold. Percival had been up for awhile.

Yawning, he padded down the hall to the nursery. Percival was probably asleep in the rocking chair with Ellie, which he would probably regret tomorrow.

Elaine was asleep in her crib, as was Gawain. Percival was nowhere to be seen.

Puzzled, now, Credence went back out into the hall. There was a light on in one of the unused rooms in the family wing, past Galahad and Olwen’s rooms. They’d decided it would be Gawain’s, once he was big enough to leave the nursery. He wasn’t quite old enough yet, but Credence still felt a pang at the thought. His babies were growing up so fast.

“Percival?” Credence asked around a yawn. “What are you doing up? It’s three in the morning.”

“Merlin and Morgana!” Percival yelped, the pencil in his hand skittering wildly across the wall.

Credence blinked at him. He wasn’t awake enough for this.

“How much coffee have you had?” he asked, suspicious.

“Eh,” said Percival, clearly stalling for time. “A bit.” He glared at the line he’d accidentally drawn, then made it vanish with a careless flick of his fingers. “You startled me, love,” he said, tucking his pencil behind his ear and reaching for Credence.

He looked, Credence thought, like one of Queenie and Jacob’s artist friends. Percival was shirtless, as was his habit, his soft sleeping pants slung low on his hips. His hair stuck up in random tufts, free of its usual pomade until morning. Percival looked about as far from severe, serious Director Graves as it was possible to get.

He looked like Credence’s husband instead.

Credence loved Percival in the small hours of the night, and the evenings after work. The times just for him, or for the kids. No one else got to see Percival like this, all his hard edges tucked away.

“You should be sleeping,” Credence chided, leaning in to kiss him.

“So should you,” Percival countered.

“We could both go back to bed,” Credence suggested. He wrapped his arms around Percival’s neck, pressed close enough to Percival that there would be no doubt as to his intentions.

“Yes, dear,” Percival said, a wicked gleam in his eyes.

Everyone said that Percival took after his father, just like everyone said that Galahad took after Percival. Dindrane, everyone agreed, was the one who took after their mother.

Having finally met the portrait of Geraint Graves, Credence could see why everyone thought so. Percival had Geraint’s devotion to MACUSA; to duty. He had Geraint’s unyielding sense of honor, his determination to stand between their people and anything or anyone who might mean them harm. Being an Auror was who Geraint and Percival were. It was in their blood.

Vivian’s influence was harder to spot, but it was still there. Percival had inherited her love of stories as well as her knack for telling them, and he’d gotten her artistic talents as well. Little sketches littered his notes to Credence, his letters to his niece and nephews at Ilvermorny, and occasionally even during the margins of his paperwork during especially boring meetings.

“It’s just marginalia,” Percival had said dismissively, the first time Credence asked about it. He’d found a sketch of himself on the back of a memo about properly filling out requisitions forms when Galahad was about six months old. He hadn’t realized that Percival could draw before that.

“It’s beautiful,” Credence had insisted. “You never told me you could draw.”

Percival had shoved the sketch in his desk. “It’s nothing,” he’d said, but the little sketches started cropping up after that.

“So,” Credence said, sprawled over Percival’s chest and listening to Percival’s heartbeat gradually return to normal. His own heartbeat and his breathing weren’t quite back to normal yet either, for all that he felt boneless with satiation.

“Mm?” Percival asked, toying with Credence’s hair.

“What did you decide on?” Credence asked.

Percival had painted both Galahad and Olwen’s rooms, once they were old enough to leave the nursery. Galahad’s room was decorated with different kinds of dragons, their anatomy drawn with painstaking correctness after months of correspondence with Newt. Olwen’s room was a forest, and every now and again a wampus cat would peek through the trees.

“Thunderbirds, I think,” Percival said.

Credence hummed thoughtfully. “We can go to Tucson and visit Frank,” he said. Percival could get all the thunderbird sketches he wanted, and Credence could visit Penelope Ramirez and stock up on more stories from Marco and Seraphina and Percival’s Ilvermorny years. He wanted to know what to expect when Galahad was old enough.

Hopefully Galahad’s time at Ilvermorny would involve less nudity than his father’s. Credence had several utterly mortifying stories stockpiled just to make sure Galahad was too embarrassed to even think of trying half of the ridiculous stunts Percival had pulled.

“It’ll be a nice family vacation,” agreed Percival. “I can get the sky painted before we go.”

Credence cuddled a bit more aggressively into Percival’s side, just in case Percival was thinking of getting up again. “Stay,” he mumbled. “It’s not the same without you.”

“Anything for you,” Percival said fondly, not making any effort to get out of bed at all. Credence fell asleep to the gentle sweep of Percival’s hand down his back, a subtle reminder that he was here and that Percival would always keep him safe.

He woke up that way the next morning, safe and protected and loved.

“IN THE MIDST OF LIFE WE ARE IN DEATH”

An island getaway, remote and faraway from the any sort of civilization. Beautiful and luxurious, the estate accommodates the need of all it’s guests. 12 people are invited to the island on different pretexts (i.e. offers of employment, for a vacation, reunite with old friends). Upon arrival they are assigned rooms and given a tour. Each guest has something in common, somewhere in their past they’ve committed an heinous crime that have either escaped justice or been unjustly acquitted. After their first dinner the guests are all gathered together in the drawing room, where they are informed that they all have been invited to the island to pay for their crimes. And that there is no way off of the island. And that one by one they’ll all die.

Twisted and dark Poe classic pulled to pieces in this provocative and playful adaptation

Based on the short story by Edgar Allen Poe

Underbelly, Cowgate, 3 – 20 Aug 2017 (not 13) 19.20 (20.20)

Nottingham-based company LaPelle’s Factory present a modern, deconstructed and misbehaving retelling of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Black Cat at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this August.

Balanced between the hilarious and the horrific, two performers dismember the process of adapting a classic with violent glee, just as the narrator of this Poe short story turns violently on his beloved pet cat.

What was the inspiration for this performance?

We were initially inspired by the desire to collaborate with a writer for the first time and see whether our hands-on, collaborative, devised approach to making performance could merge with that of a more 'traditional' playwright.

We became interested in adaptation as a vehicle for this because it's a form that (often) begins on the page and then goes through a process of 'daisy-chaining' ideas and forms – so in our case we began with Edgar Allan

Poe's short story written in the first-person, to Mufaro Makubika's modernised two-hander play that updates the themes and makes changes to the plot, to us (Olwen and Ollie of LaPelle's Factory) where we pull both texts apart and comment on them whilst simultaneously 'acting' them.

We also allow aspects of our real personalities to seep into the characters to the division between performer and character becomes much more difficult to distinguish.

Is performance still a good space for the public discussion of ideas?

Regardless of how much technology advances, there is no substitute for being in the same room as a performer or group of performers. Watching artists perform live, making eye contact, joining in on occasion, cannot be replicated; the immediacy of human connection is still very necessary for discussion and discourse. It's the same with watching a band: there's a reason we pay to see them play familiar music in our presence rather than just putting the album on at home again.

How did you become interested in making performance?

We both did fairly experimental degrees

(Olwen at De Montfort University in Leicester; Ollie at Bretton Hall, then part of the University of Leeds) which exposed us to a whole body of theatre and performance beyond traditional plays. Separately we became excited about the liveness of the event and the connection possible with an audience that contemporary practice champions.

We became less focussed on work which pretends the audience is not there. And now we make work which we hope is different and progressive without needing an arts degree to be understood. We try very hard to make sure our ideas are presented clearly enough that the work can be accessed by anyone, not just those familiar with the form.

Is there any particular approach to the making of the show?

We make devised theatre, so we did lots of background research and had a lot of discussion in advance of developing the piece. We watched other adaptations of the same text (mainly on film) – and having Mufaro's blessing to do what we wanted with his text was very important.

Does the show fit with your usual productions?

This piece started on the page which is unusual for us. Normally a script or performance score will develop through improvisation and subsequent editing within rehearsal so there is no one 'author'.

We wanted to challenge ourselves to working with a different (arguably more traditional) restriction and see if we could devise ways to break the rules.

What do you hope that the audience will experience?

A fun, funny and slightly dangerous piece that examines the slipperiness of words and what it means to recycle ideas, turning the familiar into something new.

What strategies did you consider towards shaping this audience experience? We knew some audience members would be familiar with Poe and some wouldn't, so we had to devise a strategy that meant this didn't matter. Both groups will have a different experience but neither is better. It's the same as watching a film: you'll have a different understanding if you read the book first, but it isn't incomprehensible if you didn't.

We also wanted to find a strategy to bring the story alive without going too far down the 'actorly' route. This has involved using element of ourselves: our personalities and histories. This, we hope, adds to the 'realness' of what we present; and hopefully the sense of threat and danger too.

We also aren't afraid of being silly. Often contemporary theatre gets a reputation of being overly serious and intellectual. We've found ways of countering these presumptions with the dark humour we've woven into the performance.

Poe’s story is closely related to his famous A Tell-tale Heart, concerning the growing insanity of a guilty mind, and touching on alcoholism, mental health and emotional violence. Led by performer-devisers Olwen Davies and Ollie Smith, LaPelle’s Factory’s disrupted retelling revels in the darkness that hides just under the surface of the tale.

With metatheatrical play, The Black Cat is a surprisingly humorous tale which was developed with scratch performances at Derby Theatre, SPRINT (Camden People's Theatre), and First Bite (China Plate/MAC Birmingham).

Olwen said, “We can’t wait for our company to make its first visit to the Fringe. The Black Cat is also our first adaptation, but being us we don’t play it very straight. It’s dark, weird and wonderful, and has a very cheeky glint in its eye. It’s perfect for the murderous backstreets of Edinburgh."

LaPelle's Factory is the creative partnership of Olwen Davies and Ollie Smith. They make playful and provocative contemporary performance that questions expectations, relationships and modern ideals. The company is an Associate Artist with Attenborough Arts Centre (Leicester) and In Good Company, based at Derby Theatre. Their first show, CLOUDCUCKOOLANDERS (2015), explored mad couples, personality cults and the changing face of cinema. This was followed Desperado (2016/17), which riffed on rock gigs, dance marathons, school sports days and rodeos to push its performers to physical and existential limits.

Olwen Davies premiered her first solo performance, Fridge Logic, in 2011, at the Circuit Festival and the Hatch:Fresh festival. Olwen has also collaborated with Zoo Indigo in the devising of their performance Blueprint, a cross-generational celebration of motherhood. Ollie Smith is a regular devisor and performer with Michael Pinchbeck. Their work together includes Bolero, which toured internationally; and The Trilogy, a body of works exploring contemporary tales on Shakespearian stage. His solo show 27 was an obsessive and drawn-out suicide note from the world's least rock n roll star.

Mufaro Makubika is playwright living in St Ann’s, Nottingham. He is a graduate of the Royal Court Young Writers’ programme, including the super group, and a BBC Writersroom 10 winner. Credits include How to Breathe (Nottingham Playhouse) and Hood-The Legend Continues (Theatre Royal Nottingham/New Perspective Theatre). Mufaro is currently under commission to Nottingham Playhouse.

LittleMighty is an independent producer based in Leeds that works nationally with remarkable artists to make brilliant theatre happen. Their other shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this year include Eamonn Fleming’s Confabulation! (Pleasance Courtyard) and Silent Uproar’s A Super Happy Story (About Feeling Super Sad). In Good Company develop artists, provide opportunities and support exciting new performance in the East Midlands. In Good Company was born out a consultation with our community of artists in 2014 and is now a multi-venue partnership made up of: Derby Theatre, Attenborough Arts Centre, Burton Brewhouse, Lincolnshire One Venues and Mansfield Old Library. 👀 ofc!! sorry that this was late I haven’t been feeling well!! ;~;

- Olwen doesn’t need her swords to be seen as a threat. Her body itself is considered to be a dangerous weapon.

- She has a long lost older brother, who’s 8 years older than her. While Olwen grew up in Mistral, her brother grew up in Vacuo. Her grandfather thought it’d be best to keep the two of them apart... for their protection. Olwen finds out about her brother years later from her grandfather.

- Aklaq came up with the name Olwen, based off of the small white paw mark on her right paw pad.

- During V2’s dance arc, Olwen goes to the dance with Blake instead of Sun (they’re only going as friends though). She was originally going to ask Emerald to be her date, but to Olwen it seemed like she already was going with someone else.

- Olwen prefers boxer briefs, she finds them comfy & easy to wear.

Here’s a list of all of the nicknames that Olwen uses for some of the canon RWBY characters. As a side note, I will also be including whether or not the nickname{s} are used as a term of endearment or as a form of contempt. More will be underneath the cut!!

Ruby Rose: Red {endearment}.

Weiss Schnee: Ice Imp or Imp {contempt}. After Weiss makes up for her past treatment of Olwen and they become friends, she starts referring to her as Schnee.

Blake Belladonna: Belladonna or Teacup {endearment}.

Yang Xiao Long: Goldilocks or Sunshine {endearment}.

Jaune Arc: Rookie {contempt}, she’ll always refer to him as being an, “amateur”, saying that the gap between them in terms of strength will always be huge. She also doesn’t respect him for faking his way into Beacon, instead of working hard to get into an Academy like she did.

Nora Valkyrie: Short-Stack {endearment}.

Pyrrha Nikos: Nikos {endearment}.

Lie Ren: Ren {endearment}.

Penny Polendina: Polendina or Freckles {endearment}.

Sun Wukong: Bozo {contempt}. Olwen really didn’t like Sun at all in the beginning. Eventually after clashing a bit on Menagerie, she eventually calls him Goofball as a term of endearment.

Neptune Vasilias: Try-Hard {slight contempt} because she saw that he tried way too hard to be, “cool”, which she found to be annoying. Eventually calls him Brainiac instead, after finding out that he’s actually kind of a nerd {part endearment, part contempt}.

Velvet Scarlatina: Velvs or Shutterbug {endearment}.

Ilia Amitola: Amitola or Rainbows {endearment}.

Emerald Sustrai: Em, Emmie {endearment}. When they begin their, “friends with benefits” relationship, she calls her Babe or Hon. After she betrays her at the Fall of Beacon, Olwen refers to her as a Treacherous Snake. When Emerald starts to work with RWBY & the others, Olwen refers to her as Sustrai and also brings back Em & Emmie. When they give a romantic relationship a shot, she calls her Gemstone, while also bringing back Babe & Hon.

Mercury Black: Smug Git or Jackass {contempt}.

Cinder Fall: She’ll often refer to her as a heartless bitch... after all of the pain that she’s caused not just her, but to Emerald and everyone else that she cares about... without a hint of remorse.

Neopolitan: Half-Pint {contempt}.

That’s all that I have for now, I might make a part 2 to this post if I think of anymore nicknames. Also here’s two bonus facts, just because I felt like it.

The first is that to anyone that she refers to by their last name, it means that she respects them quite a bit.

So, last time I shared the leader of DMNO Douglas Craig’s bio. It’s now time to talk about my yeehaw daughter, Melanie Hertz! If there are any errors, I will go back and fix them eventually.

Alias: The Sizzlin’ Striker, The Monster Duo {an alias that she shares with Olwen, that was given to them by the Atlas Academy student body}.

Hair Colour{s}: As of right now, honey brown. When she was younger, she had much lighter hair, but it got darker as she got older.

Emblem: An outline of a burning heart, with the bottom points separated and curved outwards like a cow’s horns and a miniature heart in the center. The burning heart outline is burnt orange and the miniature heart is honey orange.

Weapon{s}: Blazin’ Buckaroos.

Blazin’ Buckaroos are a pair of buckaroo-style cowboy boots, with a firing mechanism built into them {similar to Yang’s Ember Celica & Mercury’s Talaria}.

The Buckaroos are primarily beige, with honey orange fire designs etched in and mahogany brown bottoms. The branding iron soles are copper, with a rusty look. The spurs of her boots are bronze, with built in flint.

Alongside her kicks, she’ll primarily fire explosive rounds or streams of fire {almost like a flamethrower} from her boots.

Using fire dust, she can heat up the branding irons at the soles of her boots, causing her feet to become searing hot. Clicking the spurs at the back will ignite the boots completely, causing her boots to blaze up for a short amount of time. Combining these two elements is a deadly combination that adds tremendous fire power to Melanie’s kicks.

Dust can be inserted vertically into the two chambers located in the heels of her boots.

The boots are made with a fire-resistant leather.

Types of Dust Used: Primarily fire dust. However, she’ll sometimes use rock dust in tandem with fire, creating a magma element. She’ll also use air dust, allowing her to kick in order to jump higher into the air {it looks as if she’s walking on air}.

Other Equipment:

Dust Pouch {where she keeps her dust crystals and it’s kept on the right side of her belt. It is hickory brown}.

Fighting Style: Melanie’s fighting style is a combination of Savate {French foot fighting}, aggressive precise kicks, and grapples. Sometimes she’ll incorporate quick jabs as well.

Semblance: Engine Burst - A semblance that allows the user to develop engine-like protrusions made of aura that manifest around her calves. This grants the user increased speed and extra kicking power for a brief period of time. She can only use her semblance in short bursts, otherwise it will cause her legs to lock up for about a minute or two. There are three gears, First, Second & Third. First gear is the standard, Second will give a bit more of a boost, and Third is the semblance’s, “overdrive”, mode. As of right now, Melanie can only access the first two gears, but cannot access the third. She’s attempted once, but this caused her legs to lock up for 24 hours.

Vast knowledge of farm animals & how to take care of them.

Has good driving skills, thanks to learning how to operate farm equipment at a young age.

Even without the use of her semblance, she’s the fastest member of her team on foot.

Early Life {Backstory}:

Melanie was born and raised in the Kingdom of Vale, in the agricultural district.

She grew up on a ranch called, “Woolwood Meadows”, that primarily raises sheep for wool. The ranch was started by Melanie’s paternal grandfather years ago. Her grandfather also started up a forge on the property called, “Hertz Ironworks”.

For most of her life, it’s just been herself, her father Ignatius, and her older brother Phlegon. Ignatius attended Atlas Academy and soon joined the military after graduation. Eventually he decided to settle down with Melaina and take over the ranch from his father, Hephaestus. Phlegon has taken over the forge on the farm and lives on the property with his wife Ashley and their daughter Hestia. Phlegon will eventually inherit the farm when his father retires.

Melanie didn’t know her mother Melaina very well. Her mother passed away when she was around 3 years old. Melaina was a Huntress who sustained fatal injuries while out on a mission. Her death was unexpected and the family took it hard… especially Ignatius. From then onward, he became overprotective of both of his children.

Phlegon decided that he wanted to inherit the farm when he was older, so he wasn’t the one he had to worry about as much. His worry over his son disappeared over time. Melanie on the other hand has always wanted to become a Huntress just like her mother… that worried Ignatius beyond belief and he continued to worry over his daughter’s safety.

It took plenty of convincing and begging from Melanie for Ignatius to allow her to attend a combat school. However, he wanted her to attend a school that was close to home and she would have to call him every weekend to let him know how she’s doing. So, Melanie decided to attend Pharos Academy.

When it came time to pick the next academy that she’d be attending, Melanie wanted to attend Atlas, but her Father wanted Melanie to attend Vale instead because it was closer. This caused the two of them to have the biggest argument that they’ve ever had and they didn’t speak to each other for about a week.

Phlegon stepped in and got the two of them to talk to each other. Ignatius finally opened up about how losing his wife made him fear about what could happen to his children if they weren’t careful. Melanie understood where her father was coming from, but that was no excuse for how he was treating her. Melanie finally told her family that the reason why she wanted to become a huntress was because she wanted to use her strength to protect those that couldn’t protect themselves. She also says that she wants to attend Atlas because it was the school that her father attended in his youth. She states that her two biggest inspirations in her life are her mother & father, that they’re the ones that inspire her to do what’s right.

Ignatius reconciled with his daughter and promised that he was going to try and ease up on his over protectiveness. He supported his daughter’s decision to attend Atlas and Melanie promises that she’ll call home every single weekend to check in. Not because she was instructed to, but because she wants to.

Baggy Button Up Shirt {honey orange, top two buttons left unbuttoned, long sleeved but they’re rolled up halfway}.

Atlas Academy Uniform:

Melanie pretty much wears the standard Atlas Academy girl’s uniform. The only exception is that she wears her cowboy hat with the uniform.

Bull Rider Cowboy Hat {straw, with a mahogany brown hat band, brim & chin strap, usually wears it whenever it’s hot outside or during battle, when not in use it hangs on her back from the adjustable chin strap around her neck}.

Button-up Blouse {orange & brown plaid, first three buttons are left unbuttoned, short sleeved}.

Henley Shirt {daisy white, top two buttons left unbuttoned, sleeves cut off halfway}.

Leather Horseback Riding Gloves {hickory brown}.

Leather Belt {mahogany brown, with a gold belt buckle, dust pouch hangs from the right side of the belt}.

Denim Dungarees {brown, with mahogany brown straps, gold buckles, with belt loops, her emblem is on the front, the front is left open on the right side, while the right strap hangs from her side, she moves the right strap back on her shoulder during fights, pant legs are always tucked into her boots, 100% flame resistant}.

When not wearing the Blazin’ Buckaroos, she wears a pair of carpenter boots {hickory brown, with beige laces}.

Other Notes About Appearance:

Has dimples.

She doesn’t have a tattoo yet and is still trying to decide what she’d want.

Used to have her ears pierced as a child, hasn’t re-pierced them in a while.

Has a burn mark on her left calf. She was around 10 years old and there was an incident where she accidentally burned herself.

If She Had a Voice it Would Be: Cassandra Lee Morris.

Misc. Trivia:

Melanie’s reasons for making her weapon a pair of cowboy boots was not only because of her fighting style, but also because she finds them very comfortable to wear. She has around 10 pairs of cowboy boots in her closet at home.

On the ranch the family deals with sheep, alpacas and goats. However, each member of the family owns a horse, Melanie’s is named Autumn. There are also the three dogs named Bramble, Hazel & Maize. All of the dogs are Border Collies. Finally, there are the three barn cats named Pumpkin, Butternut & Big Max. All of the cats are all tabby, except for Butternut who’s a Maine Coon.

Melanie can play the fiddle, the banjo, and the guitar. She prefers playing acoustic guitars more than electric because It fits her style more.

She speaks with a strong Southern accent. When talking to someone that she likes {whether it’s platonic or romantic}, she’ll often refer to them as, “Sug”, which is basically the short form of sugar.

Aside from becoming a Huntress, other careers that Melanie has thought about pursuing were professional kick boxer, physical therapist or firefighter.

Melanie’s last name Hertz is derived from the German word herz meaning, “heart”, and was used as a nickname for a big-hearted person. Melanie and most members of her family are often described as some of the most big-hearted individuals in all of Remnant.

Melanie never skips leg day.
