I know we all have our own opinions on P.A. Works throwing this line into the ending of the final episode:

BUT!! The English dub is now out.

In the English dub, Miri says this phrase a little differently. She says that Kazuki “went out drinking with the ladies.”

This sounds a lot less like a pathetically belated attempt at no homo and a lot more like saying the ladies are his friend group, which would make sense, seeing how Kazuki immediately made friends with the daycare moms back when Miri was little.

It’s a small change, and honestly could just have been a logistical (mouth flap) choice, but it blends in with their prologue far better than the original phrase in Japanese had done. It’s even more open-ended to the nature of his and Rei’s relationship than the original, which I think is a smart choice, given how many potentially queer categories they can fall under when no label is given.

The English dub for this show has been a delight from start to finish, really, so this was the perfect way to end the series, imo. I’m gonna miss them. 🥲

okay i don't think i need to go in detail about how fitting it was that he died unable to speak, and he and his creepy ass book of last words were burned before he could write them down bc others have but i do wanna say i think that's the most like, poetic justice-y death i've seen in a show ever BUT

i thought it was... a little weird that they put so much focus on his gurgling but then i rewatched the manor attack and came across this

good cause i've been crying at our precious finale, it was beautiful, it was everything i ever needed and wanted out of a finale for buddy daddies.

props to kazuki and rei for quitting the organization, and to rei finally standing up for himself against his father, beautiful moment, wonderful.

MIRI IN HIGHSCHOOL, we've come so far with this little family

and i hope, that we get to see more of them again, as daughter daddies and dealing with a highschool miri!
