INNER STRENGTH

INNER STRENGTH | read in full… . Where does strength come from? Does it come from the mind? Does it come from the body? Does it come from the divine? . Strength can be measured many different ways, just the same, so can weakness. . We live in a world that caters to the weak and makes it difficult for those of us that work for what we have. On top of that, we are all surrounded by weak people that do not care about anything other than themselves. They do not place others above themselves, they expect others to provide for them and hold them up. . So if the odds are against those of us that have to work for everything that we have, how can we find the strength to keep going? . Yesterday in the Hombu we discussed the difference between setting goals and setting intentions. Both are different yet crucial. We also discussed the importance of understanding expectations and ended with the idea of fear, which will be covered more in tonight’s class. . Although goal setting and achievements can build strength, it is the strength of character that keeps us going. . For me, I have thousands of people all over the world that look up to me in the marital arts for training and direction. I have a small group of personal students at the Hombu Dojo, as well as the people in my life that I love and cherish very much. Being weak and looking for handouts is not the image I want to display at all. Having the inner strength to follow through with personal values is something that can be cultivated by training in the martial arts, and something that I discuss with my assistant Shihan Chantal Jacot all of the time, when we are developing teaching strategies for the students. . After we die, we all get one week where people will find out we died, think about us, feel sad and attend out funeral. After that week is over, most will be forgotten and replaced. Think about that, if you are weak, you will get one week after death. . My question to you… Have you been strong enough to do anything to make people think about you longer than one week after death? If not, why? . Are the relationships in your life, that you hold near and dear to your hearts, are they strong? If not, why? . Are you doing what you truly want to do with you life? If not, why? . The real question here is why?... Is it because you are not strong enough to stand up and go after the things that you want in life? . One of the weakest thoughts you can have is the idea or hope that “it” will be better tomorrow. The moment that you think that “it” will be better tomorrow, you have mentally accepted in your own mind that you are not in control of your own life. Now there are many different techniques that I teach, but changing the mindset slightly can drastically change your energy and the direction that you take in life. . Yes, you should set goals, set intentions and understand expectations. You should plan for tomorrow, but you must live today. There is a difference between living and dwelling.
