Baretang Bikolnon on Facebook: Couple Senior Citizen killed in fake encounter in Cawayan, Masbate
Human rights group and the family demand justice for the killed 2 senior citizens, a couple, in a fake encounter last February 5 in Purok 5, Brgy. Tuburan, Cawayan, Masbate.
According to the Philippine Army (PA), at 7:00 AM, its 2nd Infantry Battalion encountered ten members of the New People's Army (NPA) which reportedly lasted for eight minutes. Couple Pedro Regala, 78, and Florencia Regala, 67, were killed and tagged as NPA members.
The NPA-Masbate, Jose Rapsing Command, expressed that there was no encounter with the military and the victims are not members of their group.
"The Masbate Revolutionary Movement is determined to hold the military responsible and pay dearly for their heinous killing of the elderly couple," said Ka Luz del Mar, spokesperson of NPA Jose Rapsing Command, in their statement. "The weak and defenseless couple was picked up from their home, taken to a remote part of the creek, shot mercilessly, loaded with ammo pouches and brought out [that they were] killed in the encounter."
The Regala Family condemned the brutal killing of the victims and demanded for justice.
"It's hard to accept that you were treated by merciless people like this," granddaughter Eulaica Regala stated in her social media account.
"No one has the right to take life, only God can take back our life," said grandson Lidions Invento. "This kind of incident is not new. We wanted to reveal the truth but nothing will happen because there is no justice for people like us who are poor."
"Go to the place, you will see how much pain happened to the two if it is right for them to experience such brutal killing," Invento said.
KARAPATAN - Masbate extends its condolences and sympathies to the orphans of the victims and is determined to unite and help them achieve justice.
According to Karapatan - Masbate, the recent brutal killing in the province was another reason to abolish the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).
"Contrary to the peace and development of the NTF-ELCAC, it only brought peace to the grave and profit for the few, KARAPATAN - Masbate stated.
KARAPATAN - Masbate also calls on Masbateños who are disgusted by the brutal killing of the Regala couple to join the protest on February 25 to hold President Bongbong Marcos Jr. accountable and its "fascist minions" in their crimes against the people.
"Let's act together for justice," the human rights group said.

I Left My Heart In Buntod Begia
Buntod Begia holds a special place in my heart for a deeply personal reason. It was the last destination my family and I visited together before my mother had to return to Hong Kong. This place symbolizes the precious moments we shared as a family, reuniting with our relatives and cherishing each other's company above all else.
The journey to Buntod Begia was truly enchanting. As we climbed the mountain, the ascent felt effortless, especially when accompanied by the joyful conversations and laughter of our loved ones. We would pause frequently to capture the beauty of the surrounding trees and lush greenery in photographs. It was a rejuvenating trip, a day etched in my memory forever. Upon reaching the summit, we were greeted by statues depicting the life of Jesus Christ. The panoramic view from the top was simply breathtaking, with the vast expanse of the Cawayan Masbate ocean and the serene greens stretching out before us. It was a tranquil haven up there.
Buntod Begia stole a piece of my heart, particularly because it was the final stop before I embarked on my journey to Manila. Even in 2021, I haven't had the opportunity to revisit this place. I long to return, accompanied by my family and close relatives, to relish in its beauty and find solace for a day or two, far away from the bustling city of Manila and the stresses of school.
Buntod Begia holds a special place in my heart not only for the memories it holds, but also for the lessons it taught me. It taught me to appreciate the beauty of nature, to find solace in its embrace, and to prioritize the relationships that matter most. It reminded me of the importance of taking a step back from the chaos of everyday life and immersing oneself in the simplicity and tranquility of the natural world.
I yearn for the day when I can return to Buntod Begia, to once again experience its magic and create new memories with my loved ones. Until then, I carry the essence of that day in my heart, a reminder of the love and joy that can be found in the simplest of moments. Buntod Begia will forever hold a special place in my heart, a sanctuary of peace and love that I will always cherish.

A gunfight took place between the government troops and the New People’s Army around Locso-an Elementary School in Placer, Masbate, on Wednesday, March 22.
Students, school staff, and others rushed into the classroom to hide underneath the chairs. Locals reportedly said that NPA members had been seen handing out posters honoring the anniversary of the communist party's founding, according to a report from the 9th Infantry Division. The public alerted the military due to their anxiety.
Numerous videos pertaining to what happened have been shared on social media. According to a witness, the incident happened around 7:30 in the morning. This is thought to be an unusual occurrence in the area. Both students and school personnel are safe.
In the town of Cawayan in Masbate, there was also an attack by the New People's Army that resulted in the death of CPI Antonio T. Rarreno, according to Cawayan, Masbate Police Station.
The Department of Education (DepED) released an official statement regarding the incident that they “vehemently condemns the alarming rate of communist rebel activities in Masbate, causing undue learning disruption in the province. These acts of terrorism perpetrated by the New People’s Army (NPA) have caused trauma to learners and school personnel who witnessed the senseless violence.” But DepED continued that there will be no suspension of classes and it is up to the school heads and administrators whether they should continue to implement face-to-face classes or switch to blended learning for the meantime.
Further details as stated by the Department of Education, Vice President and Secretary of Education, Sara Duterte and Army Division, have promised to protect the affected individuals in the area.
Although the investigation is ongoing, the authorities have not yet responded to the Vice President's request to visit the affected districts of Masbate.

PART-TIME JOB
Heyyy guys I'm Jessa and this is my first blog and today I'm gonna share with you my experience as a part-time jobers. I was working in a crab plantation in Cawayan.
Tumblr media
Being working at this young age I already help my parents in some of our financial needs. I started when I was 15 and still I continue my study. Bring by the poverty I enter this job no one push me to do this even my parents but I insisted for I to help them. Doing job and study at the same time was not easy I need to divide it properly. Sometimes I need to absent because I don't have a money to go at school and I go to my job so that for the next day I have a money but I do not let that I will be last in a lesson I pursue to catch it up when Ive been absent.
Tumblr media
This pandemic really destroy all job in public nor private sectors. When the pandemic strike my job has stop and only the capable can continue there jobs. Between March and August 21 below are not capable to go out side and I stayed at home for that long time without my part-time job. It was hard facing that I won't help my father in finding money. I know his job dont have a big salary that can afford all our needs financial so staying at home with so jobs to help him really sucks. Luckily after a many months I started my job in a new normal mode because still we are fighting in this pandemic. We followed health protocols to be us safe in the virus. It was hard because it's not the same thing we usually do but we need to used it. Now I'm still have my part-time job and still continuing reaching my goals. And that's all for today's blog and I hope you enjoy reading my personal experience.

This day, I wake up a little bit early than the usual, 'cause you know, there's this event in school that I participated to, and this will be absolutely fun! really! for this is my first time to join in a colored fun run and I really look forward for this day to happen, since then.
And right at this moment, I am rushing doing my thing, ahmm and yeah? because the gang is already here. I mean, right in front of our house waiting for me so that we can already go to Nasugbu altogether. So right now, we just got off from the jeep and we're late, but we still need to go and find a shoes to buy for Jamaicakakak, and after some minutes of such "tawad" talk to the vendor, we started walking instead of "running" because we are superrrr late and we can't do anything about that, so might as well chill while we can, right? While we're on our way to reach each destination, we're the ones who pour the colored water or whatsoever to ourselves that is inside the container.
We continue to walk, walk, walk, and walk not until we see an old, rugged stairs with its intricate design. Curiosity kills the cat, that's why we decided to go and take pictures that will serve as a remembrance to us when we're gray and old. After taking pictures, we walk again and after some time I just suddenly mumbled to myself "WTH? Kill me now, please!" because the participants of the colored fun run is already walking back home while I, with my friends didn't reach Cawayan Cove yet which is the final destination of the said event. But after that embarrassing moment, we continue on walking and we, the gang (jamaicakakak, jubita, ricaness, lunard, rhea and kobe) decided to go to jamaicakakak's home. While walking on our way , we take off our shoes from our feet because it feels numb, we continue on walking AGAIN like forever~~ while barefoot and the heat of the cruel rising sun is not helping anymore because it adds up the hurt that I'm feeling on the sole of my feet. We buy snacks on one of the sari-sari store because obviously I'm hungry, and so they are too which only leads to one thing and that is WE are all HUNGRY (chour hahaha) well, kidding aside.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyways, the thought that we will be at Jamaicakakak's house in any minute now, excites the shit out of me despite of the weariness that I'm feeling. (Weh? Hahaha)
When we're in the house we rested for a bit and then I waited for them to go back because they are the ones whose gonna buy the ingredients and condiments for the fish shanghai and pottage made of upo. So while waiting, rhea and I started to remove the fish' bones and then when they arrived we wrap it in the wrapper. Now, we're ready to experience things that I haven't experienced before and honestly today is my first time riding a boat and i feel nervous because I can't swim but at the same time happy because I will do it with my friends and together we will face our fears. And while we're in the middle of sailing, the sea waves is getting stronger and stronger but at this very moment I don't feel scared but it's the opposite of it, and I'm happy to know that.
The place is really beautiful. This is not my first time coming here but it really amazes me everytime I look on its horizon. The depth of its turquoise blue water is something that makes my mind go crazy thinking of it mystery. It is something that I get scared thinking of and at the same time I wish that I could go deep down there to see and know its beautiful parts that's been hidden and unseen from almost all of us.
We prepare the food on a leaf of banana just like on a boodle fight, we eat a lot, take pictures with the use of various shots that is incredible to post in IG. We swim on the sea but we are more careful for we can hurt ourselves in just a snap because of its rough rock but still it's a wonderful scenery.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This day is indeed a long day.
All the weariness that I'm feeling now is all worth it, I can say. Those long walks that I've never done before is good because I got to know more things about my friends and I've got an opportunity to see that place again which helps me to self-reflect on all the things that just happened this day.
That in every decision we make, in every path we take, and in every place we go there's something that we would learn from our journey. We meet people, be friends with them, and the most heartbreaking part is that, we still part ways, in the end. But ofcourse it's our decision if we would want to meet again. And that's good. That's what everybody wants. But then again, not everybody chose to meet again because they're thinking that on that way they will grow better and I think it's incredulously stupid. Because we can still grow and be at our bestest if we are comfortable to the the ones we're with.
Everything's uncertain and I can't just hold on forever to the things that I'm not sure of. Because not all of our relationships with our friends is a success. So whatever happens in the future and if this friendship is not for a lifetime (which I really hope this would be), I'll just have to accept what would life can give me. Because at least I have memories that's in me that I will probably never forget and let go of even if I have to, because that's already a part of me. And even if it hurts me, I will still hold on to the memories that we have made together. Not because I need to or I have to but because I love to. And I would love to live in the moment and cherish every moment that's only left to us. Hoping to have more travel and experience with the gang.
And IF EVER we would part our ways someday, I would only say jaljinero, chinguya' and see you soon, luvyah!

My blog is about the beach in my home town in Real, Quezon Province... Quezon Province. Have Atleast 14 known waterfalls in town. But I namely nine waterfalls. In all of this is. BAGOMBONG, MALALAGO, KINANLIMAN, TIPUAN, PINAGMINAHAN, NGABNGABAN, MAHANGINHANGIN(CAWAYAN) BALAGBAG and LUNOK(NOKNOK) Among these only few are easily accessible including the last three which I happened to visit.
MAHANGINHANGIN(CAWAYAN) falls Popularly known as Cawayan falls as it is situated in Barangay Cawayan. Is just a short walk from the trailhead at Real-Infanta Road. It is made up of six layers of cascade. The first two are where most locals go for they are easily accessible. The remaining four cascades upstream require a bit of climbing scrambling and bouldering. The last cascade is a towering 40 feet. Drop that flows against a wall into a small yet deep basin..to get to the Cawayan falls, ride the Infanta bound bus in legarda P200 For 4 hours. Or an Infanta bound jeep from Siniloan and get off a Barangay Cawayan in Real, ask the driver to drop you off at Cawayan falls. Before Cawayan garden, both located on the left side of the road. If you are coming from Real Poblacion(P10 to 5 minutes) the first cascade is around 15 minutes by foot from the main road, going to the sixth level will take around 30 to 45 minutes(Entrance fee P10) BALAGBAG FALLS in Barangay tignoan, south of Poblacion Real, are two waterfalls that are quiet mainstream. But majestic just the same. One of which is Balagbag falls. A two-tierred waterfalls. Balagbag falls is a favorite destination for local and non-locals alike. This is no surprise as it is majestic and easy to reach. Just a short walk from the start of the trail at Real-Mauban Road. The first level is 5 meters high with deep natural Pool idea for cliff Jumping. A trial at the left side leads to the second level a towering cascade. At 25 meters high with a catch basin. To get there from Poblacion Real, catch a bus, A jeep or a tricycle(20/Person) to tignoan Dulo (Basketball Court) then transfer to another tricycle going to Balagbag (25/Person one-way for special trip) Going back, just wait for trike (P25/Person one-way) or Jeep going to tignoan Dulo at the main road (Entrance fee P20) NOKNOK (LUNOK Falls) one kilometer from balagbag falls is NOKNOK falls sometimes called LUNOK Falls. A one layer cascade tucked in a foliage-covered area. Also of Barangay tignoan standing at a height is 10 meters. And with deep natural catch basin ideal for Cliff jumping NOKNOK Falls is another Favorite destination for locals due to its easy accessibility, around 10 minutes walk from the trailhead at Real - Mauban Road. NOKNOK Falls is just a short walk from Balagbag Falls. (Entrance fee P20)
HOW TO GO TO REAL, QUEZON. Catch direct Real-Infanta bus in legarda for a 4 hours travel via Rizal and Siniloan - Famy, fare is P200 From Manila.
Alternatively you can catch a van from legarda to Siniloa for Atleast 3 Hours travel, fare is P120 from Rizal area. Take the Siniloan Jeep at their Terminal in front of Robinsons Cainta /BIG R/ Junction and get off at Real, It is 1 hour travel and fare is atleast P50
Legarda to Real bus (fare P200) Get off at Cawayan Falls, Real Quezon (Entrance fee P10). Back main Road /Ticket to DOT Star or Tignoan tricycle terminal (fare P10) Lunch/trike to Tignoan Dulo transfer to trike to Balagbag Falls (Entrance P20) Lunok Falls (Entrance P20). If they think hard enough, they could trick themself into thinking their passenger--oh, gods, when did they prop their muddy tsinelas on the dashboard-slash-extra seat--was not the God of Lost Things in all their apparent glory, if one could call a ketchup-stained shirt, two sizes too big, and cotton shorts as glorious. At least that black mane they tried to pass off as hair looked like what they were supposed to be. The God of Lost Things, Caitlin, crossed their legs at the ankles, dislodging a good chunk of mud onto the recently cleaned dashboard-slash-seat-which-causes-back-problems.
Or maybe they could not think at all. They haven't decided yet which method to try. They weren't given the chance before the higher-ranking god materialized in the sidecar of their tricycle and tossed a one worded reason for their appearance: "Lapu-Lapu."
As if that was a legitimate reason for making them drive to a city an entire day's travel away from Manila. If one was using a car. They don't want to think how long it would take for a tricycle, motorized or not.
And this was ignoring the bodies of water between the cities. Just what was the god thinking--wait. Is that--yes, they pulled a honest-to-gods laptop out of their hair. Caitlin slid further down on the seat and propped the laptop on their knees, the soles of their tsinelas now firmly on the dashboard, fingers already typing away as if they were chilling in an over-priced Starbucks instead of forcing another god to drive for them while they take advantage of how the title “God of Passages” can be interpreted as "Living, Breathing WiFi Hotspot." Kala couldn't stop from speaking at this point. It was like just being around this god made them lose all sense of self-preservation. "Can't you teleport there? You look strong enough."
They, too, were a god, godsdammit, but that sudden sputter in the motor made their mortal form's heart jerk, and their torso followed through, nearly dislodging them over the motorbike. Their grip tightened on the bike's handles. God of Lost Things. God of Lost Wires. Right. It was possible. They veered left and into the middle of a narrow alley. At the end where the road opens again, they could already see Lucena.
If Caitlin was pissed, or if they even did anything to the motorbike like they highly suspected, it didn't show. As always. It made Kala wonder if even the God of Lost Things wasn't immune to the powers of the God of Lost Things. It must suck, it that was the case, though Caitlin didn't seem to mind at all as they continued tapping away at the keybo--is that a tou--the God of Lost Things was competing in a Smash tournament. ...located in New York. Was it even possible to compete remotely, let alone internationally like this? They were on their fifth win streak with Jigglypuff. How can the Kirby knock-off win--again, they weren't allowed to think about anything, not while they were with Caitlin. Apparently.
"Scenic route," said Caitlin.
Kala choked, nearly missing the turn that would let them skip driving through water to reach Masbate. "Sce--this isn't the scenic route!" They shook their head then pointed with their lips at the road ahead of them. Mobo came and went in a blink. They were in Cawayan now and were already well on their way to Bogo. "I can drop you off here. Take the ferry like the humans."
Apparently, their suggestion was too stupid to notice. Or Caitlin was too preoccupied with the blink-and-you-miss-it disappearing act the laptop pulled upon being found by its rightful owner. Nothing flickered behind those dark eyes. Flipping their windswept hair--gods, it's back into its true form of storm clouds--over a shoulder, Caitlin finally took their feet off the pseudo-dashboard to lean forward, hand slipping under the seat.
They knew there was nothing there, but Kala stole looks anyway as they kept their eyes on the road. They might be the God of Passages, but that didn't excuse them from crappy driving etiquette. They had to be a proper role model, unlike a certain god in their vicinity.
Caitlin slipped their other hand under the seat. There was never going to be anything there. Why--
Kala screamed.
Two, not one, (because one was apparently not guaranteed to give Kala a mortal-exclusive heart attack) full-grown, well-groomed, smiling golden retrievers sat crammed in what little space was left in the sidecar. No matter what Caitlin said, that hair was not hair. Their long questionably godly passenger didn't even blink at the stream of sounds Kala tried to pass off as words. That godsdamn hair seized Caitlin's face before they tucked it behind the ears, or what handfuls of hair they could hold onto while the two dogs pounced at their chest, tongues lolling at the side of their mouth to complete the look of "Hey! Hey, let me slobber all over you!" It was a useless act--that dark storm obscured Caitlin's face as the tricycle made another turn.
Kala gave up and focused on kicking this god out of their life. "We're near Lapu-Lapu. Where do you want to get off?"
"Manila."
If the dogs weren't so adorable, now looking at them as if they were the next best thing to exist after commercialized dog treats, Kala would have braked so hard the gods would have to call on Magwayan themself to get their dismembered mortal limbs from the ocean floor.
"Manila?" At least this time their scream came out coherent. Kala brought the tricycle to a halt. Sure, they were at the Sitio Ylaya Chapel, but they were willing to deal with any nearby Catholic anito as long as someone explain this crap to them. "We came from Manila."
"Yes." The two dogs barked, absolutely trilled about Caitlin's answer. They looked at the god as if Caitlin was better than Kala and those godsdamn bone-shaped treats.
Kala changed their mind--the dogs can be shoved back under the seat for all they care.
"Why"--Kala exhaled through their nostrils--"do you want to go back to Manila?"
"Your WiFi."
Kala screamed for the third time in the span of five minutes.
EXTRA:
They were at a loss for words for three reasons. One: they were desensitized to Caitlin's terse way of speaking, if it can even be called that when the last time they replied, it was with a blink of the eyes. Two: they gave up on trying to make sense out of Caitlin's logic of traveling from Manila to Lapu-Lapu and back just so they could use their WiFi. And three: they didn't know enough about foreign countries, but they were very sure Caitlin paid them with bills that were not piso.
Okay, they have a fourth reason: this money surely belongs to a frazzled tourist. It was a lot of money. It was on the level of "entire fund brought along to enjoy a month-long vacation at a tropical country."
"What--" Kala breathed in. Then out. Then they tried again. "I can't use this for gas."
There was that blink again. Kala was starting to suspect Caitlin's slow blinks was their way of saying, "You are so stupid" only this time it was more like, "You are so stupid to think you can't exchange those for piso."
"Someone's looking for this."
Now that blink said, "You are so stupid--of course someone is looking for those."
Kala returned the money without another word. There was nothing else to say.
Caitlin accepted the money and disappeared just as silently.

Northern Samar town seeks protection of major river
#PHnews: Northern Samar town seeks protection of major river
TACLOBAN CITY – Several public hearings have been lined up for the proposed ordinance seeking to protect the Catarman River in Northern Samar and its tributaries, an official announced on Wednesday.
Authored by Councilors Nerissa Daclag, Fernando Carpio, Lito Custorio, and Karl Andre Balajadia, the proposed measure is called "Catarman River Protection and Conservation Ordinance of 2021.”
The ordinance primarily seeks to rehabilitate the tributaries such as the twin Maroyondoyon and Caglangkoy creeks in Molave village as well as the Taguibian River in Cawayan village.
"Let's all work hand in hand to protect our environment for a better and brighter tomorrow before it’s too late," Daclag said in her social media post.
Since Feb. 17, public hearings have been held in the villages of Cervantes, Macagtas, Bangkerohan, and Catarman town center. The town is the capital of Northern Samar province.
The Catarman River, a major provincial river in Northern Samar, divides the eastern and the western parts of the capital town of the province. It is fed by several tributaries.
Under the proposed ordinance building of houses, toilets, pigpens, and other structures within the buffer and easement zones of the river system will be prohibited, Daclag.
Also banned are littering, throwing, and dumping of solid waste; discharge of untreated liquid waste; cutting of trees, bamboos, or nipa palms; use of chemical and other poisonous substances; and dumping of special wastes along the river zones.
Once approved, violators will be fined PHP500 to PHP2,500 and be in jail for 15 to 30 days.
Pollution at the river was due to rampant dumping of garbage, open defecation, and discharge of wastewater into the streams.
The ordinance also seeks to build river control, dredging of Catarman River delta, bamboo and nipa production, trees preservation, and organization of a team to monitor and spearhead regular clean-ups in the river and its channels.
Once approved, the ordinance will create the "Care Catarman River Council" which shall be chaired by the town mayor with the town council chair on environmental protection as vice-chairman. (PNA)
