Youth Advocates for Climate Action Philippines strongly condemns the abduction of two environmental advocates.

These are the seventh and eighth incidents of abduction in the region, and they are just two of many human rights violations committed during the Marcos Jr. administration. We urge on the government to #SurfaceEcoDangla and #SurfaceAxielleTiong

do you know anyone who's been reported to the feds for proship junk?

Not personally, no. I, honestly, am not even 100% sure the CSIS (Canadian FBI) is even what would get involved in that situation, since Canada is so weird with their censorship laws to begin with. Like it feels like something the Federal Government would probably leave up to the Provincial Governments to handle.

With that being said, while I can't name exact names so feel free to take this with a grain of salt, I have heard of people in the states getting the feds called on them over proship bullshit. I've also heard of antis getting the feds called on them for going way too far over cartoons (like bomb threats and shit), though.

At the end of the day, I think getting the literal Federal Government involved in fucking shipping wars is absolutely insane, and if you're a person, on either side, proship or antiship, who has or has even considered doing that (not including over active death and terror threats, "shipping war" has been breached at that point), I genuinely believe you might be due for an internet detox, 'cause holy shit.

The Amihan National Federation of Peasant Women condemned the horrific massacre of a farmer family allegedly by state forces in Brgy. Buenavista, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental. At 10pm yesterday, June 14, peasant woman Emelda Fausto (49) and her two children Ben (15) and Raben (11) were killed in their sleep. Their father Rolly was found dead in a sugarcane field near their home. 

Emelda was a member of the Baklayan, Bito, Cabagal Farmers Association (BABICAFA), an organization of agricultural workers registered at DOLE and accredited by Himamaylan City. According to witnesses, their home was ransacked by soldiers accusing them of being supporters of the [New People’s Army]. 

“We condemn the horrifying massacre of the Fausto family. The state and its forces have a dehumanized view of ordinary Filipinos. This is what makes them terrorists: they are capable of mercilessly massacring a mother and her two young sons in their sleep. Their father, a farmer, was slaughtered in the fields. Unarmed, defenseless civilians are killed because of red-tagging without remorse, and without justice,” said Amihan National Chairperson Zenaida Soriano. “We demand justice for Emelda, Rolly, Ben, and Raben Fausto. 

These massacres and militarization against farmers in Negros island and rural communities should be ended. The military forces along with Marcos Jr. should be held accountable for their brutal crimes against the peasantry, especially the women and minors,” Soriano added.

“We urge the public to demand for justice for Fausto family and for all the victims of these atrocities. We call for the immediate pull out of military troops in peasant communities, abolishment of the [National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict] and the junking of the Anti-Terror Law which served as instruments to perpetuate human rights violations. Lastly, we call for the end of Marcos Jr.'s waging a war against the peasantry and the marginalized sector," Soriano ended.

hi i'd just like to rant because of everything that's happening with my country, the Philippines. our government is so anti poor, the supreme court is actually not gonna approve of free mass testing. jeepney drivers resulted to BEGGING for money along highways bc the govt still does not approve of public transportation bc of the pandemic. they are using the pandemic to phase out old jeepneys which will be replaced by more expensive vehicles the drivers cannot afford. the president just signed the anti terror bill which tramples over human rights and freedom of speech. with this bill, we literally cannot meet up with friends in case we are "planning" something. the bill also describes a terrorist in a very vague sense which they can bend and use to let anyone seem like a terrorist. a week ago, i think, 20 people in a pride protest had been arrested and the police cant give out reasons for their arrest when they socially distanced and wore masks throughout their protest. our country is $161.6 Billion in debt bc of the pandemic but it feels like the government isnt doing much. before the govt had this much money, the president actually had over PHP 200B (around $4B), at his disposal, for the pandemic that he got from taxpayers. i didn't even include ALL that's been happening, just imagine how tired we are.

The NUPL Cebu Chapter expresses its strongest condemnation over the killings of Hannah Jay Cesista and four other individuals, namely Domingo Compoc, Perlito Historia, Marlon Omosura, and Alberto Sancho in Bilar, Bohol, collectively known as Bilar 5.

An Iskolar ng Bayan, Hannah earned her Political Science degree from the UP Cebu. As a college student, she joined various organizations aligned with her principles and beliefs - Youth For Christ UP Cebu Chapter, Cebu Students for Justice and Peace, & Kabataan Partylist UP Cebu.

She then enrolled in the University of San Carlos (USC) to pursue a law degree. During her law school days, Hannah volunteered at NUPL Cebu and was instrumental in forming the law students’ arm of the Cebu Chapter.

NUPL Cebu members can attest to Hannah’s unwavering dedication and active involvement in the chapter’s activities in providing legal services to marginalized communities.

She was always the first person to volunteer when lawyers needed assistance in the countless legal work of the organization. She joined community visits for paralegal trainings & discussions on human rights despite the demands of law school. Hannah also passed the 2022 Bar Exams.

Numerous reports have circulated concerning an alleged “encounter” between the New People’s Army (NPA) and Philippine National Police (PNP) at Sitio Matin-ao 2, Barangay Campagao, Bilar, Bohol last February 23, 2024, Friday.

Contrary to law enforcement’s claims, initial reports received by NUPL Cebu show significant discrepancies and expose their possible commission of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) violations.

Several accounts support that no encounter has transpired. Instead, the five individuals were ordered to vacate the house where they were staying. The four men were forced to strip off their shirts. Along with Cesista, they were forced to roll in the mud.

The witnesses narrated that they were pleading with state forces to stop their inhumane acts but to no avail.

Killing Hannah and her companions is one of the many state-sanctioned efforts to harm activists, human rights workers, and dissenters- as part of their futile attempt to conceal the harsh realities of poverty and inequality in this country.

NUPL Cebu expresses its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Hannah. We call on the Philippine government to conduct a prompt and impartial investigation and to hold accountable the perpetrators responsible for the deaths of Bilar 5. Hustisya alang sa Bilar 5!

EMAIL PROTESTS. this is the main thing that is proven to be most effective. i prefer doing this over the petition because petitions have a lower chance of working. what you can do is email our government anoymously about junking the terror bill and the instructions and templates for the email are all here.

please spread this around. this anti terror bill is just a way for them to implement martial law without saying its name. the first time martial law was implemented, thousands of people were tortured and murdered for being activists. this bill is forcing us to be silent, forcing us to stop criticizing everything bad our government has done. we desperately need your help because i cannot emphasize enough how apolitical majority of the families here are. we need your help.
