Nine Percent Reacting to Your Depression
Pairing: Nine Percent x Reader (multiple scenarios)
Requested by: Anon
Prompt: Nine Percent reacting to you confessing about your depression
Genre: Reactions; Bullet Point Scenario
Trigger Warning: Depression; Mentions of Self-Harm; Mentions of Self-Esteem Issues
Word Count:  (total)
A/N: I’m only sticking to the confession and how they come to that point in this. The thing with depression is that there’s a lot of ways in which it plays out– depending on the individual and the type of depression (bipolar depression, for instance is different than unipolar depression in it’s symptoms). Also this feels mildly ooc for the members because honestly, I don’t know how China views depression and other such disorders so I don’t know how much they’d know about it.
Idk what you’re facing, dear anon who dropped this request but I hope you’re okay. If you need someone to talk to, always feel free to drop in. Love you and I’m sorry about delaying this so much.
Anon, this is so many years late, idek if you're still on tumblr but ah. This spiralled me into an episode of my own and then life got extremely busy. Here's what little I'd written until then, unedited mostly. I hope you're here with us still. Love you.
Cai Xukun:
Tumblr media
Xukun found out when found you crying with the medication in your hands because you were too tired of all the medications and still having to deal with “this shit” as you described it to him. It wasn’t easy for you to tell him about it because you didn’t want to burden him with your problems when he was already dealing with so much– what with being the leader and center of Nine Percent and the lawsuit with his old company and crazy fans.
“Just because I have problems doesn’t mean I can’t listen to yours,” he told you when you tried to explain to him how you didn’t want to burden him. “You always listen to me, Y/N so it’s the least I can do.”
Before you knew it he was hugging you, patting your head,  cooing gently because unbeknownst to you, you’d started crying at his words. Once you’d stopped crying, you told him everything– explaining everything slowly and as you best could.
“I’m sorry,” were the first words out of his mouth. “I know that doesn’t make things okay,” he continued, “and that there’s probably nothing I can do to make things okay. The only thing I can do is promise you that I’ll always be there if you want me around– even if I’m not physically there, I’ll always be there.”
Chen Linong:
Tumblr media
Linong has always known– even if he didn’t know the exact words, he’s noticed and he tries his best to cheer you up when he notices that you’re in one of your blue moods.
It’s on the day that he finds you crying over your books because you feel so worthless and drained that he asks you why– “why are you crying, Y/N?”
It’s a simple question but he’s sitting next to you, his eyes full of concern and worry at how the person he loves is falling apart. “Why do you love me, Nongnong?” you ask him instead of asking, tears falling as you meet his eyes. “You could do so much better than my sad, pitiful ass. Why do you even love me when you deserve way better.”
The question shocks him and his worry hits the roof– this is a side he’s never seen, not with him in particular anyway. He knows you have bad days and days when things are hard but this– this is new, you’ve never doubted his love for you or your relationship before. “Because I do,” he tells you. “Why would you ask me something so sad– you know how much you mean to me, Y/N.”
“Because I am sad, Nongnong,” you say, wiping away tears, “and I feel like I’m always sad.”
He pulls you into a hug, rubbing your back gently. “Why?” he asks.
That’s when you explain to him– how you were diagnosed with clinical depression, the symptoms, how there’s nothing to make things better because “it’s all in my head for real because my head is a messed up place” and all the medication you need to take. He listens– not interrupting you even once as you explain things the best you can.
“It’ll be okay,” he says, quietly once you’re done. You open your mouth to protest, to tell him that they won’t but he cuts you off before you can. “I know they don’t seem like they will be– or maybe I don’t know enough about it to feel the way you do– but Y/N, you have to believe. Maybe they won’t permanently be okay but they’ll be better than how they are right now– you’ll feel better than you are now. Maybe it’ll take ages to even get to that point, but I’ll be here throughout the way. Even when things are hard, even when they’re good. I’ll always be here for you. So you don’t have to deal with this alone ever again, I promise, okay?”
Fan Chengcheng:
Tumblr media
Fan Chengcheng knows depression– maybe not first hand– but he knows it because he’s seen too many of his sister’s famous friends deal with it. He’s read about it because no one would tell him and he’s felt himself relating to some of the symptoms on some days. So he knows depression.
He also knows you– he’s known you for a long, long time and the world would be damned if he can’t tell something is wrong with the person he’s loved for years. He’ll also be damned if he can’t recognise some of the symptoms he’s read about.
So when he drops the question to you– extremely casually, as if he was asking you about the weather– he’s hoping that it’s only his overactive thoughts and that you’re not actually going through it. The question and the casual tone shock you enough to ask how he knows, indirectly confessing.
His eyebrows furrow with concern. “Why didn’t you tell me, Y/N?” he asks you, his voice more serious than it had been just moments ago.
“There’s nothing to tell, Cheng,” you say, sighing. “You can’t do anything about it, can you?” you add, and he bites back whatever he was going to say.
“I know I can’t,” he concedes after a few minutes, “but at least I could have been there for you rather than you dealing with all of it alone– I’ve seen so many people deal with it, I know it isn’t easy for you and I’d want to be there for you no matter how bad things get. So please, Y/N, let me be there for you.”
Huang Minghao/Justin:
Tumblr media
Minghao is worried– it’s been a week since you’ve showed even the slightest interest in anything he’s been saying– all you offer him anymore are indulgent, polite smiles and he’s slightly hurt and very worried because while he’s used to being treated like a child by everyone but he’s never had you treat him in this manner.
So when you smile at him and politely refuse to join him for a round of Counterstrike, it’s the final straw before he blows up.
“Just what is your problem!?” he asks, hotly. “Why are you of all people treating me like a child? Are you tired of me? Do you want me gone?”
The outburst leaves both of you silent and when you look up at him, he’s crying. “Hao,” you say softly, guilt seeping through you– you never wanted to hurt him.
“Don’t call me that,” he says, petulantly as he sits down on the seat in front of yours. “I’m mad at you. That nickname is a cheat.”
His childishness makes you smile your real smile for the first in the week. “Hao,” you try again, “I’m sorry, baby. I didn’t mean to hurt you like this at all.”
He turns to look at you, frowning slightly. “Then why’d you do it?” he asks. “Is everything okay?” he prompts when you don’t answer.
“Not really,” you reply honestly after a few minutes. “Everything isn’t alright.”
Minghao doesn’t respond, waiting patiently for an explanation that he knows he’s almost gotten out of you. You sigh, bracing yourself before you tell him about your depression and everything that comes with it– the lack of motivation to do anything and the constant feeling of loneliness and hopelessness that have been weighing you down all week among other symptoms that come and go as they please. He listens patiently, interrupting only when he needs an explanation for something.
There’s silence once you’re done as he processes things. “I’m sorry,” he says, after a few minutes have passed. “I didn’t know at all. I really thought you’d grown tired of me.”
You smile sadly and hug him. “I’d never be tired of you, Hao,” you tell him. “I’m sorry I made you feel that way. I was so caught up with myself, I didn’t realize I was hurting you.”
He pulls away, frowning. “Don’t apologize, it’s not your fault,” he says. “You didn’t ask to go through all this and I’m sorry I couldn’t be there for you. I promise I’ll be a more reliable person for you from now so that you don’t have to feel like you’re fighting this alone ever again.”
Lin Yanjun:
Tumblr media
When Yanjun walks in, your apartment is a mess and you’re nowhere in sight. It’s surprising because you usually keep everything organised– you love keeping things in place and making sure everything got done on time; it was something he’d always admired about you. He steps over the massive pile of shoes and crumpled paper near the door and invites himself inside deciding that something has happened and whatever it is, it is a pretty big deal to make such a slob of you.
He finds you curled up on the bean bag in the living room in front of an open television– which he switches off promptly, rolling his eyes part amazed at how good you are at falling asleep anywhere, anytime. You turn in your sleep, facing up and Yanjun notices the tear stains on your face. He frowns, his concern cementing.
“Y/N,” he whispers, shaking you gently.
You wake up almost immediately and he smiles. “Hey, sweetie,” he says, leaning closer and planting a kiss on your cheek, making you smile even though you’re tearing up at the gentleness with which he treats you.
“I’m so sorry,” you tell him, when he wordlessly wipes a tear away. “I’m a mess today,” you add, laughing half-heartedly.
“A hot mess,” he smirks playfully even as he pulls you into a comforting hug, his careful and concerned gestures making you cry even more. “What happened, baby?” he asks, when you don’t stop crying even at the greasiness of his pick up line. Something was definitely not right if you didn’t even tell him to stop using greasy pick up lines.
You sigh, wiping your eyes– a little too roughly for Yanjun’s comfort. “I hate this,” you tell him. “I hate how I am– how I’m feeling.”
Yanjun raises an eyebrow wordlessly, waiting for you to elaborate. “I hate being so fucking sad all the time,” you say, evidently angry. “I hate not having enough motivation to do anything. I hate crying all the time. I can’t even remember the last time I ate something which wasn’t ice cream from the freezer. I hate being depressed,” you go on, angry tears beginning to fall.
Yanjun instinctively hugs you, burying your face in his chest as he gently strokes your hair. “I hate it so much, Yanjun,” you say between sobs.
“I’m so sorry baby,” he coos, rocking you gently. “I’m so sorry you have to deal with so much and that I’m never there.”
“Please don’t leave me,” you mumble into his chest. “I know I’m sad and pathetic but please don’t leave. I don’t want you to leave.”
“I’m not leaving, Y/N,” he replies, kissing the top of your head and tightening the hug he has you in. “I’m never leaving. I love you and that means I’m here for your good and your bad, okay? I’ll always be here, baby.”
Zhu Zhengting:
Tumblr media
Telling Zhengting isn’t hard. On the contrary, it’s probably the easiest thing you’ve done this week– it’s also the only decision you’re proud to have made. You’re not a believer of “our love can fix everything wrong” because it’s not true but when Zhengting pulls you close wrapping his arms around you and burying his nose in your hair– you let yourself believe that love can fix everything for a brief moment.
You’ve always known you were drawn to Zhengting partly because he was so caring: looking out for everyone around him came so naturally to him, you both resented and admired it. When he had extended that care to you, inevitably making you a part of his close-knit world, you’d fallen hard and fast– both thankful and flattered for the tender, careful manners with which he treated you.
It’s one of the few things you admit to him when you explain that you hadn’t meant to scare him when he comes over to your apartment– breathless and adamant, asking for an explanation for why you’ve drawn progressively away from him all month. It scares you a little, both the thought of losing him and the thought of him caring so much.
“Please tell me if you’re okay,” he pleads. “If it was something I did– just tell me. Please.”
It breaks you to hear how tired he sounds– how scared he sounds and your tears fall of their own accord after a month of running dry. They only fall faster when Zhengting pulls you into a hug, concern evident in his voice as he repeatedly asks you if you’re okay. “I’m sorry,” is all you can muster through the tears.
He sits with you, waiting patiently for you to stop crying and then making sure you’re hydrated as he makes an off-hand comment about all the takeout boxes in your kitchen. And then he waits some more as you explain everything you’ve felt over the past month– the repetitive thoughts telling you that you’re worthless, to give in and finally let go; the anxiety of not being wanted and of not being good enough and by the end of it, you’re crying again.
“I was so scared, Ting,”  you admit between sobs that make his heart wrench in pain for you. All he can do is pull you into a hug because he doesn’t want to make unfaithful promises of things getting better when the future has always been so uncertain.
“I know, baby,” he mumbles, burying his nose in your hair. “I’m so sorry. I’m here now, okay? I’ll be here now– you don’t have do this alone anymore.”
Wang Linkai/Xiao Gui:
Tumblr media
Telling Linkai is simple– explaining to him is even simpler. It surprises you for a little while when he listens to you quietly as you explain to him why you’ve been avoiding everyone and everything but the surprise soon gives way to realisation when you remember how much time he has spent around Xingjie and who he is as an artist.
“You could have told me sooner,” is all he tells you, however before he leaves almost as soon as you’re done explaining.
Linkai can’t lie to your face and he certainly can’t lie about two important things: He can’t tell you that you’ll necessarily be okay because he’s going to be there for you from here on out– that’s in the future and he can’t guarantee the future no matter how much he wants to. He also can’t lie and tell you that he isn’t hurt because he is. He’s hurt and angry that you didn’t trust him enough to tell him sooner even though he understands why you couldn’t have.
So he leaves.  He aware that leaving without any explanations is the last thing he should do but he needs a walk to clear his head and sort his thoughts. All he can hope is that you don’t take his leaving in the wrong way and wait for a little while until he can find the right words to tell you.
It’s past midnight when he returns to your apartment, only to find you in the living room curled up on your couch cuddling with the cat he swears is your actual boyfriend. “Y/N,” he calls out, making you turn towards the door.
“Kaikai?” you stutter, your eyes glazing over with relief– you’d been so sure he was gone for good. You want to say something else but he crosses the room to pulls you into a hug– the type that he reserves only for really emotional events. “I love you,” he tells you.
Those are the only words he tells you for the rest of the night. He only hopes you can understand everything he wants to say but can only act on. He can’t do anything for you– he can’t make you empty promises like they do in movies because he knows only too well how unpredictable the future is and he can’t make you okay– but he can stay for as long as you need him. He hopes that his sincerity can reach you when he holds you closer as you fall asleep in his arms.

Nine Percent Mafia Scenarios
Tumblr media
Cai Xukun
Tumblr media
Cai Xukun, a name that is well-known whether you go to the same school with him or not. He was notorious for not only being the heartrob of the school, the best basketball player the school had ever had, a hard-working student and a caring person.
Even so, there was a rumour going around that he was part of a gang. Now, this wasn't your typical school gang or a motorcycle gang but more so a mafia group. Not only that, the rumours has it that he is even a leader of one of the mafia's group.
But despite his reputation, Kun was never one to play with people's feelings. So he would always decline people's confessions as nicely as he could. Truth be told that it was mainly because there was already someone that caught his attention since the first day he came to the school (*cough*you*cough*).
Of course, because of his reputations and all, he didn't really want to make his crush that obvious, especially when he was in a mafia group. Though, his group were more so dealing with the actual scums rather than causing trouble for the authority (which is why the authority would let his group go).
But that would soon change during one of his important matches. Not only was he against his school's biggest rival but also his mafia's rival. If he won the game, it'd be killing two birds with one stone.
Unfortunately, when the match was going fairly well for Kun's side, his rival's side had their own set of tricks. Apparently, some of his rival's group were scattered around the school, finding one specific person, you.
While you did try to put up a fight and all, you were outnumbered and the opposing rival managed to get ahold of you. Once the game was over and Kun's team had won, they had to shake hands with the opposing team which of course, Kun did as well. However, when he got to his mafia's rival, he received a disturbing information.
"It was a good game but looks like you guys could still use some practice" Kun snickered, shaking hands with his rival
"I wouldn't be too cocky if I were you, August" his rival challenged, making Kun tensed up upon hearing his work name
"Don't test me, especially in school. I suggest you leave quietly unless you're starting to pick a fight" Kun barked
"Heh, well, let's see how tough you can get when you're with (y/n)" his rival mentioned, makin Kun gripped on his rival's hand even more
"What do you know about (y/n)?!" Kun growled
"Why don't you come by dinner tonight? I'll send you the location" his rival smirked, taking his hand back and leaving the school along with his team
Kun instantly contacted his own members, asking them to track your phone since he tried calling and texting you but you didn't reply him at all (which is actually very rare unless you told him you had something to do).
At the same time Kun received an unknown message, his members found your phone's location which was completely different to the location in the message.
Kun then split his group to two, with him going to the location he got from the message whilst the others go to the location where they tracked the phone down.
It wasn't that much of a surprised that you weren't at the location Kun went. But that didn't stop Kun from going brutal with the rival gang. After he was done there, he went over to where you actually were on his motorcycle.
Arriving at the scene, Kun wasted no time and just knocked the rival gang even when he was still on his motorcycle. When Kun did get down from his motorcycle, he kept going until he finally reached you and pulled you into a hug.
"Are you alright? Did they hurt you?" Kun asked, concern can be heard from his cracked yet soft voice
"I, I'm alright, Kun. I just got a slight bruise but nothing too serious" you admitted, holding onto Kun's hands that were almost 2x your hand size
"If you ever come near her ever again, I'll show no mercy next time. Now scram" Kun hissed, making the boys run away from the scene
"I'm fine, Kun. Don't scare them like that" you stuttered
"Let's go, let's put some ice pack onto that bruise, hmm? Then we can continue watching that drama you were watching. Let's go boys" Kun mentioned, pulling you to his motorcycle
Chen Linong
Tumblr media
Honestly, Nongnong is just too soft to be part of the mafia. Which is also why he is perfect to be the spy in the mafia XD alright, onto the scenario
So, I imagine that you were one of the bad girls in school. Not bad as in you caused trouble but more so you look like a baddie when you're actually nice to the ppl close to you. One of which was Nongnong.
When Nongnong first came to the school, he looked so cute and soft that you swore that you wouldn't let anybody bully him nor hurt him at all. You even helped him get used to the school.
Time passed by and you and Nongnong were quite close with each other that even went on a few study dates here and there; which Nongnong of course would take you home like the gentlemen he was.
But one study date made you change your mind how you saw Nongnong. All this time you would always feel the need to be the one to protecc precious Nongnong, but this time, it was the other way around.
The both of you stayed a bit longer than expected at the study cafe you guys always come for when you were doing school stuff. But of course both of you have told your parents and Nongnong even told your parents he'll still bring you home safely.
As the cafe was closing, you and Nongnong finally head back home when suddenly a gang of motorcycles came by and stopped right in front of you. Nongnong tried his best to tell them off but for no apparent reason they just burst up and went to charge towards you and Nongnong.
You've experienced fighting before which is why you were still standing, unfeared of what this gang could do. But as you were about to fight back, Nongnong quickly stood in front of you and beat all the people in the gang; scaring them off and even threatening them that if he ever sees them again or even hears about them when he's around, he won't go easy.
"Are you ok (Y/N)? Are you hurt anywhere?" Nongnong asked, his voice turning into his normal soft voice
"I, you, what? Who are you and what have you done to my sunshine soft precious Nong?!" you exclaimed, pointing at Nongnong and at the slight mess he made
"Ahaha, I'm also super Nongnong!! Remember? But for reals (y/n), are you alright?" Nongnong asked in concern, holding your hands in his
"I'm fine. You didn't have to protect me though. You know I can fight" you mumbled
"I know. But you shouldn't have to fight when I'm around. I'll take care of you even when I'm sick. As long as you're fine then I'll be fine. Come, let's go home" Nongnong softly whispered, pulling his signature smile as he pulled you away from the scene and head back home
Fan Chengcheng
Tumblr media
Kay, first of, boy looks like he ready to throw a fit or something XD also, crazy to believe that he was just 18 here. Kay" scenario
For this I imagine that Chengcheng had to attend a wedding of a family member (let's say it's his cousin) and his parents expect him to bring someone or they'll make him mingle around with the people at the wedding.
Because he much prefer to bring someone he knew, he immediately called you to come join him; telling you that he'll find hair, makeup and stylist for you so all you had to do was just join him. Though you're not much of a social person, Chengcheng got you by telling you that there'll be your favourite foods.
Time skip to the day of the wedding
You arrived at the Fan's house and was greeted by Chengcheng's sister, Fan Bingbing. Because you've been to his house several of times, truth is, his parents and Bingbing were thrilled to hear that Chengcheng invited you to join.
Bingbing then directed you to one of the rooms that was filled with different clothes and she even helped you picked out an outfit then brought you to another room where there were people ready to do your hair and makeup.
After nearly 2 hours of getting ready, you were finally done and Bingbing was helping you zip your dress when Chengcheng came in already in his dashing suit. Bingbing then gave a smirk, leaving you with Cheng.
"Wow, you look amazing? You're probably gonna outshine the bride. Here, lemme help" Chengcheng exclaimed, helping zip your dress up then looking at you in the mirror
"Speak for yourself. That glasses really suits your look. Not to mention the slick back hair with a slight green/blue tone?! Damn, Cheng" you replied as the both of you looked in the mirror
"C'mon, I want one mirror selfie then we can go to the actual event" Chengcheng requested as he took his phone out and taking a mirror selfie with you
After several more pictures, Chengcheng's parents finally called you both and the both of you went downstairs; where Chengcheng's parents and sister were waiting.
After around 30-40 minutes of being on the road, you all arrived at the venue, took some pictures and were redirected to where you would be seated.
"I have to go for a bit. My parents made me go see my cousin then his bride. You just stay here, alright? I'll have someone send some appetisers or any snacks" Chengcheng whispered to you
"Sure thing. Go go, then we can play whilst we wait. Justin is waiting for me right now" you mentioned
"Better be just one game. I'll be back. Don't start the next game without me, tell Justin that I'll take his food next practice if he leaves me out" Chengcheng pointed out, walking away
"Oi!! Watch your step!!" you scolded then went back to playing
Chengcheng's POV
"Why do I have to meet her?" I complained
"Because it's to welcome her into the family" my parents replied
"Ah yes, welcome someone we almost never met into the family" I cursed
"Fan Chengcheng, behave. I heard she's quite lovely" my mom scolded
"Fine. But it better not be long" I scoffed as the security opened the door and I went into my cousin's bride room
"Fan Chengcheng!! I'm so happy you could come to my wedding!!" my cousin's bride exclaimed
"Yea yea. Hold it. You....Jia Xiaoli (random name). You're my cousin's bride?! What trick you got now?!" I threatened standing right in front of her
"No tricks, Cheng. I promise!!" Xiaoli smiled
"Cut the act Xiaoli, you bribed me into dating you and if it wasn't for (y/n), my family would be in jeprodize" I barked at her
"Ahhh right, (y/n). I haven't seen her in a while. How is she?" Xiaoli asked
"She's not your concern. Stay out of my sight and (y/n)'s. And if you ever hurt my family, I'll show you no mercy" I scoffed, banging on the door and returning to where I left (y/n)
Unfortunately, when I arrived back, (y/n) was no where to be seen. I scowered the whole venue yet she wasn't there. I then rushed out to the bathroom, hoping that maybe she was there. I even tried texting her but after 30 minutes and no answer from her at all, I got anxious; like something is wrong here.
I then went out of the venue and contacted Justin if he was talking with (y/n) since they were playing games together. Thankfully, I got somewhat of a lead. Justin mentioned that he's actually on a "call" with (y/n) but he muted his microphone because he heard some other people was on the other line with her. Justin also mentioned that he's trying to track down (y/n) and after a few minutes, Justin sent me her location.
Not caring that the event was starting, I rushed to find (y/n) which turns out, her phone was at one of the hotel rooms of the venue. I then listened to the room first and when I heard (y/n)'s voice, I wasted no time and barged in, dodging all the attacks of the men within the room, knocking them all out one by one and took my jacket off, wrapping it around (y/n).
"Are you ok? Did they hurt you? What did they do?" I asked, pulling (y/n) into a hug
"Nothing, thankfully. They made me go with them and when I felt something was off, I called Justin but put the volume at the lowest, hoping he'll know my situation" (y/n) explained
"It's alright, I'm here. I've also asked Justin to come. C'mon let's get outta here" I mentioned, holding (y/n)'s hand
"Justin? Is he invited? What are you gonna do?" (Y/n) asked
"He'll be invited soon. We got a wedding to crash" I snickered, taking (y/n) away from the scene
Justin Huang
Tumblr media
Tbh, I don't think this pose will really fit into the scenario but I will try. Okie, onto the scenario for Justin!!
For Justin, I imagine that you guys were living together along with Chengcheng, Yanjun and Kun for a film shoot and one night, you and Justin were heading out to buy dinner since the geges were basically passed out.
As the both of you were on your way, Justin noticed some sketchy people stalking the both of you. Justin made sure to keep an eye of them but didn't realise that there were a whole lot more of them that blocked your path and while you did put up quite a fight, you were eventually taken and was out of Justin's sight.
When Justin realised you were gone, he didn't waste any time in calling his geges and immediately went to find where they took you. Justin was definitely certain that they were part of the opposing gang that's always trying to get on ninepercent's nerve.
After a bit of running and even getting his geges help, Justin finally found the hideout and instantly barged in. However, the condition he found you in was not a pretty sight.
⚠️ Trigger Warning!! ⚠️
Not only were you bounded to a chair but it seemed that you were being beaten up, there were visible new purpleish bruises on your legs and cheek, not to mention some part of your clothes were ripped, your hair was messed up and even blood was dripping from your mouth, hands and thighs.
At that moment, something in Justin just flipped. As if he turned off his humanity switch (except for you). No-one was going to block his way to you. If they did, he wouldn't care whether they're a guy or girl, he'll put them down.
One after the other, Justin would break their arms/legs, the sound of their suffering even urged Justin to go even further; to the point where Justin didn't care whether he broke their bones, pulled their muscles or so on.
Once all of them were down on the ground, Justin finally managed to get to you. He crouched down to your height and wrapped his jacket over your shivering body and asked if it was alright to carry you which u only gave him a slight nod; and at the same time his geges arrived at the scene.
"It's alright (y/n). I got you, we're gonna go home now, kay?" Justin cooed you as he carried you in his arms
"Justin?! (Y/N)?! Are you guys alright?!" Kun asked as Yanjun and Chengcheng were prepared to shoot anyone
"Sorry to ask this but please take care of them. Oh and make sure they're still alive. I have unfinished business with them. I'm taking (y/n) back first" Justin requested, walking out of the scene
Lin Yanjun
Tumblr media
Tbh, I'm not a fan of this jacket on Jun XD but his gaze bruh, his gaze!!! 🔥🔥 okie, scenario!!
For this scenario, I imagine that you were in Yanjun's hometown in Taiwan and apparently Yanjun's 10th year high school reunion was coming up and decided to bring you along since he only planned on staying for a bit then take you out elsewhere (also to keep all those girls in line before they lashed out on him)
After getting ready and all, you and Yanjun excused yourselves from Yanjun's parents and went out to the bar where the reunion was held. Ofc, when Yanjun entered, so many of his ex girl classmates were thrilled, until he showed up with you, hand in hand.
Yanjun just nodded and waved at his ex classmates before introducing you then he pulled you to the near corner of the table since he knew that you were somewhat socially awkward.
After having a little drink and snacks, it was now almost 9pm and Yanjun wanted to treat you out to the night market before going home. He asked if you wanted to go now which you gave him a slight nod. He told you that he'll go to the restroom for a bit before you leave.
After his restroom business, one of his ex classmates (a girl) went up to him and talked for a bit. At first it seemed like a simple catch up until she started to clustered the space and asked some personal questions about you. Yanjun was quick to know the situation he was in and immediately took control and straight up turned his ex classmate down, making his way to where he left you.
However, he noticed that some of the guys were trying to flirt with you and it seemed that they were getting a bit touchy that you seemed to be quite uncomfortable. Yanjun knew that coming to the reunion was a bad idea. Not only the majority that came were the school bullies but they were also part of a gang which 9% has been paying a close attention to.
Even so, Yanjun know that you could handle yourself and when your gaze met with Yanjun's, you immediately tried to excuse yourself but then one of the guys gripped your wrist which in return you slapped their hand away and even shoved them back down. Just when you managed to get free of these crazy people, another guy managed to grabbed you and pulled you down but at the same time, a dart flew and hit the the person's hand. Everyone then looked to see Yanjun's killer looks.
As everyone was distracted, you pulled yourself up at the same time Yanjun came and stood in front of you, holding your hand softly. Stroking your knuckles, he asked if they did anything else which you shook your head and told him that they just tried to flirt whilst the girls were already somewhat drunk. Yanjun gave you a slight apologetic smile before going back to his cold gaze towards his ex-classmates.
"Can't you tell when a woman is clearly not interested and taken? The next time you do that to my woman or any sort of girls, it won't be a dart flying and the target surely won't be your hand" Yanjun warned, rubbing your knuckles softly before starting to leave
"You think you're all that huh Yanjun?! Just because you made a name for yourself now, you can do as you please, huh?!" one of the guys challenged
"Heh, I'd watch my mouth if I were you. Wouldn't want people to know about your 'illegal business' or the fact that you've been out with 10 different women this past week, now would you?" Yanjun challenged back, slightly smirking as the guy's face suddenly turned pale
"Thought so. C'mon (y/n), let's get outta here. The night market doesn't close until 11pm" Yanjun whispered, giving you a genuine smile as you went out together hand in hand like how you came in together
Zhu Zhengting
Tumblr media
Mama Ting!! That gaze!! I surrender!! I won't play games till late at night!!! Kay", scenario time!!
Ok, for mama Ting, I feel that he's dating with a normal office worker (aka you), you guys met through mutual friends and for some reason, Zhengting feels at ease whenever he's with you (like, not awkward at all, unlike with most girls).
Zhengting was just waiting at your apartment and cooking up some dinner for the both of you since you told him that you might be coming back late due to an important meeting with your boss.
Once he heard the door unlocked, Zhengting welcomed you with his soft smile and sparkling eyes that was full of love (also open arms) which you gave him a tired smile but immediately hugged him when you've put your things down.
"How was work? What meeting was it? Oh, tell me over dinner. I made your favourites!!" Zhengting mentioned, guiding you to the dining area where he has prepared dinner
"Thank you, Ting. It was a confusing meeting honestly. Like, my boss suddenly asked about my relationship with you" you explained as you started to eat the dinner
"Really? Does your boss know me? Like know know or was he just trying to hit on you?!" Zhengting questioned, his tone getting serious
"Not sure. He was trying to offer me another job which paid quite a lot but it has something to do with my relationship. Like, when I told him that I was in a relationship, he gave this weird look like he wasn't satisfied and just dismissed me. Saying that he'll think about it" you elaborated
"Hmmm. Whatever you do, don't take the job unless he gives you the full details, alright? And if you're worried about money because your current job isn't paying you well, don't fret, I'm here!!" Zhengting exclaimed
"I don't want to leach off of you Ting but yea, I'm not gonna take that job. I'm planning to find a job elsewhere and resign once I reached my one year mark" you explained
"Good!! Now finish up then shower so we can go watch some dramas" Zhengting cheered
It's been roughly a week or so since you told Zhengting about the offer and Zhengting was currently at the bar along with Kun because they had to spy on some men coming to the bar; something about opening a brothel or an illegal business of some sort.
When the people were already there, both Zhengting and Kun split up to get some information out of the men. Nothing in particular really caught the two's attention up until one of the men brought up a file containing your information.
"I'm telling you, she's the best looking one in my company. Not to mention, whenever she wears skinny jeans, it just fits her body so well. Anyone would die to take her and our business will blow up" one of the men mentioned, pointing at a picture of your face
"But you mentioned that she's taken. Are you sure you can get her to join?" the other men asked
"She needs the money. Plus, I can always cut her pay and tell her that this job suits her better" the men mentioned, laughing
But oh boi, they picked on the wrong girl. Because the minute Zhengting heard the conversation and was sure that it was your picture that they used, he immediately gave the guy a good punch in the face, knocking him down and holding a gun up right at his temple.
"I take it you like using helpless woman for your illegal money? Not only that, using them then abusing them before you discard them. How annoying. I'll give you a few minutes to confess everything before I blow up your brainless head" Zhengting barked, his gun was right by the man's temple
"So you're her so-called boyfriend, huh? I'll just kill you here and..." the man scoffed but his scoffed turned into a scream as Zhengting shot the man's leg
"I was wondering who was my girlfriend's boss as he was so daring to ask about her relationship but was unsatisfied when he realised she was taken. Well, this is still consider verbal harrasement, right Kun?" Zhengting snickered
"Sure thing. Since we got some evidence here, pretty sure he'll get fired the second we inform this to the authority. Also, he'll probably lose all his wealth" Kun replied
"Wa-wait a minute?! Kun?! As in the Cai Xukun?! Leader of 9%?! Does that mean...you...you're..." the man stuttered
"Zhengting. Zhu. Zheng. Ting. The so-called boyfriend of the woman you're trying to hire into an illegal business. Oh well, save your breath for the court" Zhengting replied, a smirk plastering his face as the man's face turned very pale
Wang Ziyi
Tumblr media
For this specific picture of Ziyi, I imagine it being a bit similar to mama Ting's one. Where you were just a normal worker, not an idol/actress/artist or even a daughter of a famous company owner. You were just you; which, to Ziyi, you were everything.
Now, unlike the in mama Ting's one, you weren't offered a new job at a new location that was completely different to the one you were currently in. However, the boss of your company did pay a close attention to you. He would often try to flirt with you, send you flowers or even directly asked you out; which of course you declined them all.
This happened even before you met Ziyi. But unfortunately, it still happened even after you've been dating Ziyi. However, it wasn't as bad as when you weren't dating Ziyi. You dunno whether its because he finally started giving up or because he knew you were dating someone since you never really told him you were actually dating someone.
But while your boss may not know that you were dating someone, you did tell Ziyi about how your boss has been flirting with you and all. But we all know how patient Ziyi is. Not only was he patient in hearing your complaints and all but he was also patient with your so-called "boss". Well, that is until he ran into your "boss" at the gym.
You and Ziyi have been going to the gym quite regularly (let's all pretend it aint covid) and normally Ziyi would treat you lunch (which is how he got you to go to the gym with him). So, Ziyi would normally go and do some weight training whilst you just went to do some cardio (like on the treadmill or bicycle).
It was going like normal until you were about to do a bit of weights yourself (like that pull-up weight thing) and as you were going to do your thing, your boss suddenly came up to you and you guessed it, tried to flirt with you.
You tried to tell him off nicely but the same time scanned the room to find Ziyi who was apparently at the boxing area. It took a good 5 minutes or so but Ziyi finally saw you and understood your situation.
He was about to tell the guy off nicely until he saw the guy closing in the space between the both of you near a wall. And lets just say, Ziyi was finally at the peak of his patience and just snapped at the dude.
He pulled the dude back and twisted his arm till you can hear a crack. Ziyi then told your "boss" off and even threatened him because apparently throughout this whole time, Ziyi was doing a lil "background check" on your so-called "boss".
"It's not nice to pick on a lady who's clearly taken. Especially when you, yourself is also taken" Ziyi scoffed, pushing the guy further back
"Aghhh, l-let go off, m-me. This isn't even a fair fight" the guy stuttered as Ziyi pushed the guy who eventually fell downwards
"I suggest you leave and not hit on anyone. Unless, of course, you'd like me to tell your wife about it" Ziyi threatened, taking his phone out and showing the guy some pics of his affair
"I, I'll get lost. Just don't show this to my wife or anyone" the guy babbled, rushing to leave the scene
"C'mon (y/n), let's go get lunch at your favourite" Ziyi mentioned, grabbing your hand and giving you his signature (yet sweet) smile Xiaogui
Tumblr media
For Xiaogui, I imagine that he was the owner of a well renowned bar in Shanghai. It's been a tough week for you and when you told Xiaogui all about it, he felt sorry that he flew all the way to where you work, telling you that he'll stay over the weekend so the two of you can have a chill weekend together.
But, on the way back to your place, Xiaogui got a call from the bar about someone looking for him. He asked you for permission which you know that it was his bar and so you told him that it's alright. He gave your hand a light squeeze before speeding up to the bar.
Upon reaching the bar, he directed you to a secret door which led to his private office. He told you to just stay there whilst he takes care of the things at the bar.
However, not long after Xiaogui left, you suddenly had a bad feeling, as if you were being watched or something. You weren't dumb and you knew that Xiaogui hid his gun in his office (I mean, the dude taught you how to do self-defense and how to use a gun). You went over his desk trying to find the gun but the secone you held it, you felt a gun being pointed at the back of your head.
"You know, what ghost around, comes around" a deep voice mentioned, the gun being pressed by your head
"Now be a good girl and put the gun down" the man stated as you slowly put the gun down but only to make him lower his guard so you quickly upperhand him by taking his gun
As you manage to upperhand the attacker, he started to attack you which was not good. Sure, Xiaogui taught you a thing or two but when you're faced with it in real-life, that's a different story. You tried to keep your composure and threw his gun far away so it'll just be a hand to hand combat but you were still at a disadvantage.
You were already being cornered and as you took the nearest object as a weapon/shield, the attacker told you that you were no match for him. But as he was just a hand reach away, the door slammed opened and a bullet was shot right at the attacker's chest, close to his heart. You divert your gaze only to meet with Xiaogui's gaze.
"Touch her one more time and I'll make sure you live a living hell before I actually send you to hell, myself" Xiaogui stated, a signature grin was plastered on his face when he saw the attacker fell on the floor You Zhangjing
Tumblr media
If Imma be honest, this was another hard scenario but here goes nothing.
So, for Zhangjing's scenario, I imagined that you, Zhangjing, Yanjun and Nongnong had to attend this special dinner that the opposite gang was going since they had some deals to handle.
You knew that it was quite a risk by going but they needed someone to come with them so it wouldn't seem too obvious that they were planning on handling the opposite gang. Plus, you get free food so that was a major plus.
Which is how you ended up in a little black dress with your arms linked with Zhangjing and Nongnong as Yanjun was in front of you, all four of you making your way to the ballroom hall of the hotel the dinner was being held.
Yanjun, being Yanjun and the third person in charge in 9% reminded everyone of their jobs. Also reminded you to stay near by them and let any one of them know when you wanted to go somewhere like the bathroom or some sort.
After rediscussing the plan, Yanjun was the first to excuse himself because he was the hitman of the group. Nongnong also left to mingle around and get some information. Which meant, it was you and Zhangjing.
Of course, it was no surprised that the two of you immediately headed to where the food is. The both of you were enjoying the food and occasionally talk with the other guests at the dinner until Yanjun called Zhangjing to request some hacking which Zhangjing proceed in doing.
But in the midst of hacking, you had the urge to go to the bathroom and told Zhangjing that I was gonna go which he told me to quickly go and come right back to his side which you agreed.
After finishing with your bathroom business, you went out to try and find where Zhangjing was but got a bit lost and this dude was trying to get on my nerve even after you declined him so many times. I mean, one Yanjun is more than enough.
But when this guy was persistent, you decided to fight back which he clearly didn't like at all. You knew lots of fighting skills and self-defence stuff by being with 9% for a long time. Heck, you were their most trusted person other than each other.
As you were about to end this little disturbance, the guy was knocked out cold and you saw You Zhangjing out of the 3 men you came with. His gaze could rival Yanjun (emphasis on could XD)
"Can't we just have one night of dinner in peace? Haish. C'mon (y/n), let's go back and enjoy our dinner" Zhangjing stated, extending his hand out as you went to grab it
"You know I had it under control" you stated, pouting
"I know. But I wanted it over with, plus the deal is done and we can go order in with everyone" Zhangjing exclaimed as the both of you skidded through the hall

beautiful group of people, i will love them forever
Someone decided to put mistletoe all over the school as a sick sort of joke, and you’ve just been shoved under a clump of the stuff by your conniving “friends.” Who are you supposed to kiss, you might ask? Well, your friends are eyeing a certain someone walking down the hall…
- - -
“So anyway, he -” You stop short, glowering at your friends as they immediately look away from each other, looking suspiciously innocent. “Alright, that’s it, what’s wrong with you all?” you snap. “You’ve been like this for the past two days!”
“Like what?” Dinghao asks a little too innocently.
“Yeah, I wasn’t aware that we were acting differently at all,” Huafei chimes in.
You huff, trying to formulate your jumbled thoughts into words. “You don’t pay attention to me when I talk, you’re always whispering with Linkai and his little gang, you keep giving me those strange looks - how can you say you’re not acting differently?!”
There’s a beat of silence.
Then someone grabs your arms and holds them hostage behind your back.
“What the fuck?” you snap, violently twisting. “Let me go, dumbass!”
“Uh-uh-uh,” Dinghao sings, looking very, very gleeful. Next to him, Huafei and Ruotian stifle giggles, while you struggle even harder. “What the hell is going on!” you yell, attracting quite a lot of attention.
Jingzuo looks upwards, smirking, and you follow his gaze, eyes widening in horror as you take in the small plant that hangs from the ceiling.
“Oh hell no,” you mutter, shaking your head wildly. “No, no, no, no, no! Gao Maotong, get your stupid hands off of me, or so help me I’ll -”
Then someone slams into you and Maotong releases your arms, allowing you to collapse in a heap on the floor. Disgruntled and feeling extremely murderous, you grit your teeth and look up, ready to chew your friends out.
Instead, you see an outstretched hand. Your eyes travel upwards, taking in dark clothes, a leather jacket, and then…
Oh my god.
You meet eyes with your crush of two years, Wang Ziyi.
It takes a couple of seconds to force yourself to calm down, and though you want nothing more than to run away screaming, you accept his hand, allowing him to help pull you up. You try really hard to look at his face, but it’s so hard - the whole situation is just so absurd. You drop his hand as soon as you can.
“Sorry,” he says in that low voice of his, giving you that soft smile that never fails to turn you into an absolute train wreck. “My friends pushed me.” He shrugs apologetically.
“I - uh, it’s fine,” you say quickly, willing the growing heat to leave your face. “I’ve gotta go, but -”
“You have nowhere to go!” Huafei snaps. “Don’t lie to Ziyi!”
If your face wasn’t red before, now it is. You shoot her a furious glare.
What in the world are you doing?! you scream internally, hoping she gets the message.
“Y/N?” Ziyi’s voice snaps your attention back to him. “I… I think I know why they put us here.”
You squeeze your eyes shut, cursing each and every single one of your so-called friends. “Yeah,” you reply, your voice tight. “Sorry. My friends are stupid. I - it’s cool if you, uh, if you don’t want to, I totally get it, I wouldn’t want to kiss me either, sorry about everything, this is all a mess, I swear I had no part in planning this -”
“Hey, hey, hold up,” Ziyi says, taking your hand again. You flinch at the suddenness of his gesture but otherwise manage to remain neutral.
His next words, however, have you shell-shocked.
“Who said I didn’t want to kiss you?”
Total silence.
“Sorry?”
His stupid, gentle smile is on his lips again and you can’t think at all. “I asked who said I didn’t want to kiss you.”
“I - I thought - I thought we were just friends?” you squeak. “I, uh, since when…” You let out a little huff. “What the hell?”
Ziyi’s little laugh is even more addicting than his smile. He leans in a little closer, and you can feel his breath puffing slightly on your face.
“You wouldn’t mind, would you, if I kissed you now?” he asks, ignoring the gasps and hoots of the crowd watching.
“For tradition or because you like me?” you manage to spit out.
A shy blush flits across Ziyi’s cheeks and you almost melt. “Because I like you.”
The smile that overtakes your lips is shaky but genuine and you feel like you’re on cloud nine. “Then, no, I wouldn’t mind,” you reply.
His lips press against yours, and your mind goes blank. You can register only the feeling of his lips on yours, his fingers clutching your hands, his hair tickling your cheek. You cannot hear the cheers of your friends, the squeals of the crowd, the claps of the audience. It’s like Ziyi is your entire world.
When he pulls away, cheeks flushed red, you seize on your temporary insanity and wrap your arms around his neck, pulling him close again.
“Remind me to kill my friends later,” you murmur, and you just hear the beginnings of his gentle laugh before you press another kiss to his lips.
. . . . .
Why did your best friend decide to put mistletoe all over the school as a joke? You don’t know. Why did you go along with it? You don’t know. All you know is that you didn’t expect to accidentally stumble under a bunch of it with said best friend. It isn’t just the cold that’s turning your cheeks red, now.
- - -
“How did this happen?” you ask, not looking at your best friend for fear of him seeing your blush. “Why are we so fucking dumb?”
Linkai snorts. “I don’t know about you, but I’m not dumb.”
“Oh yeah? Then who was the one that first walked under the mistletoe?” you snap.
“And who was the one that didn’t realize and walked under after me?” he retorts.
You cross your arms. “Fine,” you groan. “So are you going to kiss me? Or are we just going to walk away and pretend this didn’t happen?”
On one hand, you want him to agree to the second so your feelings for him stay hidden forever. On the other hand, you want him to agree to the first so you can fulfill one of your dreams.
“Tradition is tradition,” Linkai mutters, refusing to look at your face. You can see the pink tinting his cheeks though and for the first time, you think your feelings might be returned.
“Since when have you been a traditional kid?” you push, forcing him to look up. “Never. So how come you’re relying on tradition now?”
The tiny smirk he throws you gives you a heart attack. “Because… maybe I like you?”
You blink once. Then twice.
“Only ‘maybe?’”
A real blush spreads across Linkai’s face and you can see how much effort it’s taking for him to look into your eyes. Understandable, because you want nothing more than to duck and run away into the crowd that’s forming as well.
“Fine. I definitely like you,” he mumbles, ruffling his hair.
You smile a little. “Good, because I like you too.”
Amidst cheers and hoots, you press a short kiss to his lips, leaving the usually confident boy speechless. Then, suddenly, he regains his confidence and pull you to him for a deeper kiss.
Most of the time, Linkai’s mischief gets him into trouble. At least this time, something good came of it.
You smile into his lips.
. . . . .
Holiday season means holiday shopping, no? You hate shopping, but when you come face to face with that cute sales guy you’ve had a crush on for a long time… well, maybe your sentiments will change now that you’ve seen him decked out in holiday gear, looking stupidly, absolutely adorable.
- - -
The bus is full of people, and you curse your stupid, procrastinating self for leaving Christmas shopping for the last minute.
Christmas shopping is a bore.
With a tired sigh, you squeeze onto a seat. You can practically smell the sweat and heat radiating off of the people and you crinkle your nose up with another sigh.
Then, your brain decides it’s the best time to cut in with a stupid thought.
Hey, shopping isn’t that bad. You might get to see that cute sales guy!
You really hope no one sees the blush crawling up your cheeks. If anything, hopefully they’ll think it’s the residual cold.
Cai Xukun is literally the cutest guy you have ever met. He is drop dead gorgeous but down to earth and mellow at the same time. His smile is blinding, his eyes are sweet, his laugh is beautiful… there is literally nothing not to love about the boy.
“And here I am, thinking like a lovestruck thirteen year old,” you mutter, making room for another person as they squeeze by. The bus rattles and belches a cloud of smoke, then rattles away.
You sigh.
It’s going to be a long day even if I do get to see Xukun.
- - -
Ten stores later, you’ve found almost all of your gifts. Your wallet is about to start sobbing, your feet are about to start screaming, and you are about to sag into a tired puddle on the floor.
“One more to go,” you mumble, looking with trepidation at the fancy storefront.
Nine Percent. Your best friend’s favorite clothing store. They have some of the most outrageous items but at least the prices are fair.
Also the place where - guess who - Cai Xukun works.
You drag your sorry self into the store.
“Hello, welcome! Can I help you today?” a cheery-faced boy with a bright smile asks chirpily the second you walk inside.
It’s not Xukun. You hope the disappointment doesn’t show on your face as you give him a slight smile. “No thanks,” you reply. “Just looking.”
“Christmas shopping?” he asks, looking sympathetic. You allow a sardonic smile to show itself before nodding. “Yeah.”
“Shit, sorry,” he laughs. “But let me know if you need any help!”
“I will, thanks.”
The store is huge, but it doesn’t take much effort to find the section your friend loves since you’ve been here so many times. You drop your bags, rubbing your aching hands, before perusing the racks. Minutes later, you’ve found something, and after checking the size you back to the front of the store to pay.
Then your brain short circuits, because your stupid crush is manning the counter. He’s got a stupid little Santa hat on with a stupid green woolen sweater, and he looks like… boyfriend material. There is no other way to put it.
Suddenly, you care a little too much about the knots in your hair, the bags under your eyes that you haven’t bothered to cover up, your oversized hoodie that now seems too casual for this. You want to at least pat down your hair, but then you’d probably knock your bags everywhere, and you don’t want to look stupider than you already do. So you steel yourself and walk up to the counter.
“Hi!” Xukun says with his bright smile. Your heart thumps. “Ready to pay?”
You nod. “Yeah,” you say quickly, pushing the clothing over.
There’s silence as he rings up the items and places them into a bag. You jab your card into the machine and look down determinedly because you are absolutely sure your cheeks are bright red.
“Are you okay? Your face is really red.”
Fuck.
“I’m fine.” You give him an awkward smile. “It’s just… the cold outside.”
The little smirk he gives you as he hands the bag over gives you a heart attack. “I see. Well, have a nice day! Happy holidays!”
What the fuck does that smirk mean?
“Thanks, you too!” you squeak before bolting out of the store.
Outside, the cold air cools your cheeks and after trudging a few streets, you sit down at the bus stop. With a sigh of relief as the pressure is taken off of your aching feet, you take out the receipt from your latest bag to stuff inside your wallet.
What’s on the receipt nearly gives you a second heart attack.
Hey, one of my friends told me you think I’m cute. Well, I think you’re cute too. Here’s my number, text me sometime, alright?
XXX-XXX-XXXX
A strangled sort of screech leaves your throat, causing more than a few concerned looks to be thrown your way, but you’re too busy staring at the receipt to care.
Once you’re settled on the bus, you take out your phone with trembling fingers and input the number. After agonizing over the text for several minutes, you settle for “Hey, you gave me your number on my receipt. Are you sure it wasn’t a mistake?”
One minute passes, then two, then three.
Read.
Typing…
No mistakes were made. I’m Xukun, but I’m sure you know that.
I hope you are Y/N?
You’re almost hyperventilating.
Yeah, I am.
He responds quickly.
Great. Want to go out for coffee sometime? My treat!
It takes all your effort not to scream out loud, but as you type out your answer with a smile on your face, you can’t help but think that maybe, just maybe, Christmas shopping isn’t so bad.
. . . . .
You’ve always wanted to be kissed in the rain, thinking that it’s the ultimate romantic gesture. Well, there isn’t any rain, but maybe snow will do.
- - -
“Why do you love rain?” Linong asks, shivering in the cold. He’s wearing a huge coat and has a scarf wrapped around his neck, while you only have a warm sweater. “Rain is so… cold.”
“But what about when the sun is out while it’s raining? Then it’s warm rain, and it’s like… fun! You can jump around in the rain!” You grin, whirling around with your arms out. “Plus, you’re so tall and fit. How come you’re still cold? It’s just a little snow!”
Linong shrugs, burrowing further into his scarf. “It’s still snow,” he mumbles.
Rolling your eyes, you grab his hand. “Warmer?”
You can see the blush on his cheeks despite his efforts to hide it. “Come on, we’ve been dating for nearly six months, Nong!”
The kiss you press on his cheek seems to increase the blush. “Warm now? That’s what your face is telling me.”
“Stop teasing,” Linong complains.
“What if I don’t want to?” You smile teasingly, squeezing his hand a little tighter.
“So you want to continue teasing? How about I ask you about your fantasy of being kissed in the rain?” Linong tosses back, finally pulling his face out of his scarf.
Suddenly, your face feels warm. Much warmer than before. “How - how do you know about that?” you squeak.
“You shouldn’t leave scribbles in the margins of your chemistry notebook,” he smirks.
Noted.
“Dammit,” you mutter. You can’t even be mad because you were the one who lent the notebook to him.
“I mean, I could help you with that,” Linong mumbles, looking away. His face is red again.
You look up at the sky, almost getting a face full of snow. “There’s no rain…?”
“Snow’s suitable though, right? Until we actually get some rain?” Linong asks, looking adorably awkward. You blush too, but you also place your other hand in his.
“Of course it is,” you say, leaning up.
The falling snow swirls around your faces, resting on your hair, his scarf, and both yours and his cheeks as Linong presses his lips to yours in one of the sweetest kisses you’ve ever shared.
. . . . .
Baking cookies? Not such a good idea when your friends decide to come over and wreak havoc in the kitchen.
- - -
When you suggested baking cookies with Justin, you didn’t expect him to be this much of a mess.
“Even Linkai can follow directions!” you scold, taking the dough out of Justin’s hand. “And stop eating it, you could get sick!”
“But then I’d have you to nurse me back to health,” Justin points out.
“You’re learning too much from Lin Yanjun!” you snap, whirling around with the bowl. Your boyfriend just snakes an arm around your waist as he licks another bit of dough off of his finger.
“Huang Minghao!” you yell, snatching the bowl away from him. “Stop eating the dough or there will be no cookies for you!”
His eyes widen in mock terror and he backs away, raising his hands in surrender. “Okay, okay!”
You sigh. “Didn’t you bet Zhengting that if you could get through a baking session without breaking anything, you’d choose what he had to wear on his next date?”
Justin nods eagerly, and you have to stop your heart from melting at the sight of the sparkle in his eyes. “Yeah! I’m going to make him wear that stupid gag gift Chengcheng sent me.”
“Jesus,” you say, spreading the dough out. “What did he ever do to you? No one should have to wear a sweater that ugly.”
Your boyfriend just shrugs.
“I’m dating an evil idiot,” you mutter, taking out the cookie cutters. “Here. Let’s cut the dough, and then after the cookies are baked we can decorate them, alright?”
“The best part!” Justin cheers.
“You better not eat all of the frosting,” you warn. “The cookies are already enough sugar for you!”
He sticks out his tongue. “No amount of sugar is enough sugar for Justin!”
“If you keep saying stupid stuff, I’m going to kiss you to shut you up.”
“Then I guess I better keep saying stupid stuff -”
Justin’s lips taste like cookie dough. As much as you hate to say it, the sweet flavor is appealing.
“Stop with the stupidity, Justin,” you say when you break away, leaving the boy somewhat shell-shocked and red-faced. “Now help me clear up. Don’t break anything, or else Zhengting’s going to make you wear that sweater to the Yuehua party!”
You eventually clean everything and get the cookies decorated without Justin breaking anything, but not before he sneaks in about a half dozen more kisses.
. . . . .
Your neighbor just walked out wearing the ugliest Christmas sweater you’ve ever seen. You think your eyes are bleeding, but somehow, he still looks… kind of cute.
- - -
“So, Zhengting,” you say amiably, hoping your eyes aren’t too wide with horror, “why are you wearing what you are wearing?”
Justin cackles from inside the apartment and you stifle a smirk. “Was it Justin’s fault?”
Zhengting sighs, eyes narrowed with disdain and helplessness. “Yeah,” he grumbles. “Lost a bet, so now I have to wear this shitty sweater Chengcheng sent him.”
“I hope Chengcheng got that as a gag gift, and not as a real gift,” you say, looking Zhengting up and down. “Ooookay, that’s it, that’s enough, my eyes are bleeding. I can’t look at you anymore. Take that thing off!”
“He’s not allowed!” Justin yells.
“You better let him change, Huang Minghao, or so help me I’ll return every single one of your Christmas gifts this year!” you yell back. “We can’t go on a date like this!”
“Yes you can!”
Zhengting sighs. “Let the kid have his fun,” he says resignedly, giving you a half smile. “It’s almost Christmas.”
“What happened to my strict boyfriend who didn’t put up with shit from Justin?” you gasp in mock surprise.
“He disappeared. Now let’s go out,” he says, taking your hand. “Before Justin thinks of something even worse for you to wear.”
You snort. “He wouldn’t dare. Also, why is this sweater so scratchy?”
“Fan Chengcheng is the worst.” Zhengting shrugs.
“Well, it if helps, you still look kinda cute.” You give your boyfriend a wide smile. He just laughs.
“You look kinda cute too, I guess.”
. . . . .
Every year, you and your neighbor compete over who has the best Christmas decorations outside your house. It isn’t friendly competition. Last year, the kids were flocking over to your neighbor’s house, oohing and aahing over their sparkly lights, and this year, you’re determined not to lose.
- - -
“My decorations are better than yours this year,” you say smugly, watching the kids on your street stand transfixed by the sparkling lights.
Zhangjing huffs. “As if,” he mutters, looking salty.
“It’s the truth, Zhangjing.” You grin. “You just don’t want to admit it.”
Sweet, sweet victory. After two years of losing to your insufferable neighbor over your informal Christmas decoration competition… well, all you can say is victory is sweet.
The red and green lights illuminate Zhangjing’s sulky face and you have the sudden urge to pat his head like you would a small, whiny toddler. “Don’t be so sulky,” you coo.
“I’m not sulky!” Zhangjing snaps.
“Yes, you are. Also, it’s really cold now. Shouldn’t you be inside your house?” You look at him quizzically. “Why are you still out here?”
A small blush flits across Zhangjing’s cheeks. “Locked myself out,” he mumbles.
“You are a grown man, and you still managed to lock yourself out?” You snicker.
Zhangjing does not deign to reply.
“I can try to pick your lock,” you offer once your laughter subsides.
“Pick my lock?!”
You shrug. “Yeah. I used to be pretty good at picking locks until my friends forced me to stop.”
“For good reason,” Zhangjing mutters. “But yeah. You can give it a shot.”
“Cool, let’s go!” you cheer, fishing out a little bag of lock-picking tools from your pocket.
“Why do you have those in your pocket?”
You just grin in response.
- - -
You wiggle the pick inside the lock for a few seconds before looking up. “How come we do this every year? This stupid competition?”
Wind whistles through the air as Zhangjing does not respond.
“It’s weird,” you say, turning back to the lock. “No one ever put up lights on this block before I moved in. How come you did?”
Zhangjing mumbles something completely inaudible.
“What?”
“Yanjunmight’vesaidsomethingaboutgettingchristmaslightssothatyouwouldactuallynoticemebecauseithoughtyouwerecute.”
You blink. “What?”
Zhangjing huffs and smacks his head. “Why did I say anything,” he mumbles.
“Why’s your face so red?” you ask.
“It’s cold out!” he snaps defensively.
“My face isn’t that red… is it?” You shrug. “Anyway, didn’t catch what you said. Just Yanjun, Christmas lights, and… cute?”
A sigh of defeat rushes past your ear as you wiggle the lock pick around again. “When you moved in, I thought you were cute, so Yanjun suggested I get Christmas decorations to get your attention. And then it just evolved into some weird competition. Happy?”
“Uh, no?” you snap, standing back up. “If I’d known you thought I was cute, I would’ve asked you out like, two years ago!”
Dead silence. There isn’t even wind.
“In that case, unless you don’t think I’m cute anymore, I think we should go on a date tomorrow,” you say decisively, turning back to the lock. “I’ll come over at two!”
Snick. The lock opens. “And now your house is unlocked,” you say proudly. “I’ll see you tomorrow!”
The kiss you then press to his cheek leaves Zhangjing speechless.
. . . . .
You love winter, but winter hates you. Every year you get horrible seasonal allergies, complete with a stuffy nose, sneezes, and a rasping cough that drives away everyone within a fifty-foot radius. The only person who cares to stay near is your best friend, which is a little bit of an issue considering you have a sort of kind of massive crush on them.
- - -
“Toss me into a fire,” you mumble, sounding like you’ve got dirt in the back of your throat. “Everything hurts and I’m cold.”
No one hears you, of course. You’re alone.
“And now I’m talking to myself like the dumb, sick, idiot I am,” you mutter. “No wonder no one wants to be around me.”
And of course you’re being overdramatic again.
It’s not that no one wants to be around you normally. It’s just that no one wants to be around your germy, snotty, allergy-ridden self.
Winter is fun. Winter is great. Winter is awesome. You love winter, because it means presents, joy, snow, and time spent with loved ones.
But winter hates you. It always gifts you a stuffy nose and a loud, headache-inducing sneeze-cough that always comes just in time for the holidays, leaving you knocked out at home, taking multiple allergy medications in the hopes that you’ll be better in time for Christmas.
A loud sneeze racks your body, followed by a volley of coughs, and then you sink under your covers again. You sigh as deeply as you can without killing your throat.
Then someone knocks on the door.
Two seconds later, your phone buzzes.
Fan Chengcheng, December 12, 3:00 pm
Open the door!
You blink once, then twice. Why is Chengcheng here? When it’s clear you’re sick and dying?
You, December 12, 3:02 pm
are you trying to get yourself sick
Fan Chengcheng, December 12, 3:02 pm
Allergies aren’t contagious idiot
You, December 12, 3:03 pm
ya but the germs in my snot probably are
He just sends back a puking emoji followed by ‘just open the goddamn door.’
“God help me,” you mutter, rolling out of bed. You’ve wrapped your blanket around you like a burrito and you remain huddled in it, teeth chattering as you trudge through the cold apartment.
“Get inside,” you sniffle, shoving the tall boy inside before slamming the door shut. Even then, some of the cold seeps in, and you shiver underneath your blanket.
Chengcheng sets a bag down on your coffee table and raises an eyebrow. “I didn’t think you’d look this bad,” he says offhandedly.
A scowl spreads across your face. “If I wasn’t so sick, I’d punch you,” you rasp.
“Yeah, I know.” He sticks out his tongue. “But you are sick, so I have immunity. Well, for now.”
Huffing, you stomp on his foot, making him yelp more so in surprise than pain. “I’m going back to bed,” you mumble. “Do whatever you want, just don’t invite anyone over and don’t break anything. And don’t complain tomorrow if you wake up unable to breathe through a stuffy nose.”
There’s a beat of silence, and then Chengcheng lifts you up, and you let out a strangled noise of surprise and embarrassment. Your face is hot and you pray that you can put it down to allergies if Chengcheng asks.
“Put me down!” you yell, the end of your command turning into a hacking cough.
“In your condition?” Chengcheng counters, nearly slamming your head into the doorframe. “No way.”
He almost knocks you into your bedroom wall. “You’re trying to kill me!” you snap.
“I would never!” he gasps, affronted, dumping you unceremoniously on the bed and placing a hand on his chest.
With effort, you roll over, covering yourself in the blanket. “Good night,” you mumble.
Chengcheng laughs, a small, quiet laugh that’s so uncharacteristic of his usual boisterous self that you’re confused for a moment. And then the bed dips as he settles on the mattress, and his hand goes to rest in your hair, and you really want to tell him to stop or he’ll get sick but the feeling is so soothing and calming that you really don’t want him to stop.
“Go to sleep,” he murmurs, carding a hand through your hair. “You’ll feel better.”
As you drift into dreamworld, you hear a faint murmur.
“If only we could stay like this forever.”
You want to answer, but sleep claims you before you can.
. . . . .
Presents are a must at Christmas time, no? But no matter what you get this year, there’s only one thing you really want: you want him to come home.
- - -
“Still moping?” Zhangjing asks, sighing through the phone.
You roll over in bed. “Leave me alone,” you mumble, words muffled by the pillow. “Let me mope in peace.”
“Do you want to come over and see my Christmas lights?” he offers.
“Thanks, but I’ll pass. Are you still having that competition with your neighbor?”
“About that…” Zhangjing coughs. “We’re kind of dating now?”
“WHAT?! HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS? WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME?! I WANT ALL OF THE DETAILS!”
“I’ll tell you when I come over, just please stop screaming,” he begs.
“Fine. Her lights were better than yours though last time I saw,” you joke.
“That’s it, I’m never speaking to you again,” Zhangjing huffs. You can hear him shuffling things around on his end.
“No, no, I’m sorry, Zhangjing,” you relent, rolling over again. Silence takes over the call and your smile slips off of your face as you remember who isn’t coming home.
On the other end, Zhangjing curses. “Damn you, Lin Yanjun,” he complains. “Can’t even come home to be with your girlfriend for Christmas.”
“Be quiet, he’s just busy. And I’m just being an overdramatic idiot. I’ll get over it,” you assure him. The skeptical silence that follows tells you that Zhangjing is not reassured.
“Alright, enough of this. I’m coming over with some of the boys. Chengcheng can’t come though, his friend is sick and he’s taking care of her,” Zhangjing says in his no-nonsense voice. “I have cookies and we’ll cook and then we’re going to binge watch TV shows, got it?”
A slow smile spreads across your lips. “Thanks, Zhangjing.”
- - -
Once laughter is bouncing off of your walls, you don’t feel so lonely anymore. Justin’s and Linkai’s screams fill the rooms, and you find yourself smiling more widely than you thought you would.
“Feeling better?” Zhangjing asks over the yells in the kitchen. You nod and grin.
Soon, all the food is cooked and your tiny coffee table is creaking under the weight of all the dishes. The younger kids attack it all with a vengeance, though they’re sure to leave enough food for the “oldies.”
(“Who are you calling old?” Zhengting’s girlfriend snaps.
“Not you!” Justin yelps.)
You simply sit on the couch, watching from a distance. Seeing them all so happy warms your heart but at the same time, it just makes you remember who isn’t here.
“Dammit, Lin Yanjun,” you whisper, the smile slipping off your face.
“Are you okay, Y/N?” Ziyi asks worriedly from across the room, trying to pick his way along the floor while Justin and Linkai wrestle wildly. At his words, though, they immediately stop, looking at you with wide eyes.
“I think Y/N needs a hug!” Justin announces, launching himself onto you. Linkai follows suit and you groan under their weight. “Help…”
Instead of them getting pulled off, though, more weight piles on, and pretty soon you’re buried under a mound of people. A tired sigh escapes your lips but at least you’re smiling. “Get off me!” you yell playfully. “I can’t breathe!”
In the second of silence that follows your declaration, there’s a loud knock on your door, followed by the doorbell.
“Who’s that?” you ask, wriggling out of the pile. “You think someone’s lost?”
“Maybe,” Ziyi says, shrugging. “I’ll go check.”
“Don’t get murdered on Christmas,” Justin quips.
“Murdered?” Linong asks worriedly.
“Joking, Nong, I’m joking.”
“Y/N, it’s something for you!” Ziyi yells.
Your eyebrows wrinkle in confusion. “I thought packages weren’t delivered on Christmas?” you mumble to yourself.
“‘Something?’ What am I, not a human?”
You freeze.
“Y/N?” Ziyi pokes his head out of the corner to see you frozen. “Oh, there you are.”
“Is he actually here?” you squeak. “Like… I didn’t imagine that just now, right?”
Ziyi smiles. “He’s actually here.”
Two seconds later, you’ve knocked Yanjun into the doorframe with the force of your hug, but none of that matters because he’s home.
“Damn you,” you say, your words muffled by his jacket. “I hate you, Lin Yanjun!”
“I love you too, Y/N,” he says, patting your back. “Now can I come inside? It’s really cold out.”
You let him stumble inside and shut the door before wrapping him in a hug again. “I’m not letting you go,” you mumble.
“Not even to let me kiss you?” your boyfriend asks amusedly.
“Fine, I will make one exception.”
“KISS! KISS!”
“Remind me to slap Justin when this is over,” you say, letting Yanjun go briefly. He takes off his jacket and pulls you to him again as your arms go around his neck. He looks into your eyes with all the love in the world, and then he kisses you.
“I love you,” you murmur when you break away for air, “and I’m so glad you came back.”
“I love you too,” Yanjun says breathlessly before pulling you in again. “Merry Christmas, my love.”

Half a Heart (Linong - Nine Percent)
Tumblr media
Word Count: Apprx 2.6k
It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves. -Shakespeare
Soulmate!au
This is it. He’s going to break up with me right now. “I’m gay.” You choked on your tea. While you had expected your soulmate to break up with you, you hadn’t foreseen it to be for this reason. Your now-ex-boyfriend winced at your reaction and patted you on the back as you attempted to cough the hot liquid out of your throat. You have always felt slightly off about your and Zhengting’s relationship. While he was sweet and doting, sparks never really seemed to fly between the two of you. And now you knew why.
“It’s okay. I’m okay,” you rasped and waved him off. You downed the rest of your tea in one gulp and swiped your napkin across your mouth. You reached across the table and took his hand in yours. The matching heart tattoos shimmered gold on both your wrists, even under the dim romantic lighting of the cafe. “I’m sorry. It must’ve been so hard for you,” you murmured as you watched the hearts on your wrists dull to a plain black before half of it disappeared leaving behind an incomplete heart, the symbol of a severed soulmate bond.
The origins of the soulmate bond was still a mystery to people, though there were some aspects of it figured out. When a person turns 18, their soulmate mark appears on their wrist (on the left wrist for guys and on the right for girls). The mark is a simple heart which is styled uniquely to match the one of your predestined significant other. And when you and your soulmate meet, the hearts would turn a sparkling gold: a complete soulmate bond.
No one could figure out why the marks appeared or why the soulmate bonds existed. Over the centuries, scientists grew fed up with researching the phenomenon and let the rumors run wild. The most popular was a legend of how humans were created to be the playthings of the children of the gods above. The children loved to imagine their toys in a world of fairytales where there is a princess for every prince just waiting for him to sweep her off her feet and the soulmate bonds came into existence.
Sounds romantic? No good things ever last. Eventually, the children grew up to be gods and goddesses themselves, no longer caring to play with their humans any longer. However, while they neglected their playthings, the grown children didn’t have the heart to destroy the toys had brought them so much joy in the past. So the soulmate bond was set on auto-run. As time went on, it seemed as if soulmates were no longer carefully selected to be the perfect match for one another, rather just randomly assigned.
And humans eventually found that breaking the soulmate bond was possible. Nowadays, your soulmate was often your first love, but was hardly ever your last.
“Sh!t! I wish I could stop crying. I used my fancy mascara today and it’s all going to waste,” you complained irritably into your phone’s speaker. You didn’t know why you were crying. You weren’t exactly sad. Just disappointed maybe, and a tad bit lonely.
You pouted at the sound of giggling on the other side of the phone. “Chen Linong, are you laughing right now?!” you demanded, feeling offended by the lack of sympathy you were receiving from your best friend. “No?” the voice on the phone replied timidly. “And please stop pouting. The pout mixed with your crying face is almost too ugly for me to bear.” You were about to make a harsh retort about his face before you realized: wait, how did he know you were pouting?
You looked up and there he was. Linong wore a soft smile on his face as he walked toward you, pushing his bike along with him. “Here.” He tossed you a small bag. There were makeup wipes and tissues inside. Linong sat down next to you on the park bench, and waited patiently for you to clean yourself up.
When you were done, you sighed quietly and leaned your head against his shoulder. “This sucks,” you murmured. “What? The fact that you guys broke up?” Linong asks, wrapping a comforting arm around you. “No. The fact that he’s gay! And I didn’t know. Now I feel bad because I was holding him back because I didn’t want to break up with my soulmate. But now that I think about it, there were so many signs. I was just too selfish to admit it to myself.”
“Yeah, you could definitely tell by the way he was eyeing up Kunkun during dance practices.” Your jaw dropped and you sat up straight, “You knew?! And you didn’t think to tell me?” “It’s not that easy-” You cut him off, “You literally could’ve been like ‘Hey y/n, your soulmate is gay and you should probably get yourself out of that relationship because it’s a waste of your time.”
“That’s not what I meant. I’m just saying that it had to happen on your own time,” Linong said gently and you nodded your head understandingly. You sighed again. “Don’t worry. It’s not the end of the world. You’ll get over it soon.” You stared at the black mark on Linong’s wrist. “Yeah, I’ll get over it.” Linong took your hand in his and pulled you to stand up. “Come on, I’ll take you home.” You obediently followed Linong to his bike and hopped on, wrapping your arms securely around his waist.
As Linong pedalled furiously down the sidewalks, he felt you sleepily lean against his back and his breath caught in his throat. The streets were silent, the only sound was the soft metallic clicks coming from the gears spinning on the bike. “I wish you were my soulmate,” you mumbled and Linong almost crashed the bike in surprise. “Do you mean that?” he asked, but you were already asleep. Even though he knew you probably didn’t mean it and you couldn’t hear him, Linong couldn’t help himself from replying with a quiet “me too.”
The next few days were mostly spent indoors hanging out with Linong. The two of you were having a movie marathon, but the movie playing was being neglected in favor of a popcorn eating contest. A sharp knock at the door interrupted your fun.
You tried to brush the crumbs off your face the best you could and answered the door. “Zhengting?” “Hey Y/n, I just came to pick up some of my stuff. I know I should’ve called- Oh hi Nongnong,” Zhengting greeted as Linong materialized at your side. You let your ex inside and followed him to your once-shared bedroom.
It was a bit strange to be in the same room as someone you used to date, hug, and kiss. But at the same time, it also felt liberating to stand next to Zhengting and not be expected to do coupley things (he had always been super touchy while you were not particularly fond of it).
“So are you and Linong official yet?” Zhengting asked casually collecting his belongings, interrupting your thoughts. “WHAT?! No! Where’d you get that idea from?” Zhengting glanced around your room and you followed his gaze. Zhengting strolled over to a picture frame filled with polaroids. “You don’t have any pictures of me in here even though I was your boyfriend for more than half a year, and yet he’s in every single one.” You shrugged, “That literally proves nothing. He’s my best friend.”
He picked a random hoodie off the ground, “This isn’t mine, is it?” You shook your head, “It’s Nongnong’s.” Zhengting wore an expression as if to say ‘there you go!’ You huffed, “Best friends can wear each other’s clothes!”
Zhengting sighed exasperatedly, “Okay, what about how you feel about him then?” You sighed heavily, “I don’t know. I guess...I just never thought about it before. I just don’t want to lose what we have between us right now; it feels-” “Comfortable,” Zhengting finished for you. “See, this is your problem. Y/n, you’re so stuck on feeling comfortable that you throw away all your chances of true happiness. You didn’t break up with me because you were comfortable in our relationship. But did it make you happy?”
You were silent. Zhengting sighed and patted your shoulder as he moved to leave. “The poor guy has been waiting for-ever for you. Please don’t make him wait any longer. And please don’t make yourself wait anymore.”
Stupid Zhengting. Ever he said those things about you and Linong, you felt like you couldn’t see him as the best friend you always knew. Now you were micro analyzing everything he was doing. Did he really like you? That was just crazy talk, right? Zhengting was probably just messing with you. You winced as you remember that one of Zhengting’s most defining traits was his honesty.
Linong held open the door for you to the noodle shop. Was that a sign that he liked you? You groaned internally. This was hopeless. You were hopeless. This seriously needed to stop if you wanted to be normal in front of your best friend. The food the two of you ordered arrived, temporarily distracting you from your internal crisis.
You blew at the fragrant steam rising from your bowl of noodles. You picked up your chopsticks and began eating. Your best friend teasing kicked your foot under the table and you looked up to glare at him. Linong grinned at the sight of your grumpy face with your mouth stuffed full of food.
And, all of the sudden, Linong was just breathtakingly handsome. The corners of his eyes were crinkled with laughter, his lips were split in a wide smile, and his teeth seemed to wink at you under the fluorescent lights of the restaurant. Your mouth fell open because (damn) how had you not noticed before how hot your best friend was.
However, when your jaw decided to unhinge itself, it did not account for the noodles you had been shoveling into it. And as soon as your trap opened, the contents fell out. It was probably a revolting sight. But Linong didn’t seem bothered by it. If anything, he laughed even harder.
“Sorry, I...choked,” you managed to stutter out. Linong flashed you another heart stopping smile. “Just finish eating before your noodles get cold. And here-” Linong reached across the table to dab some soup from the corner of your mouth. He smiled yet again and your heart gave an uncomfortable squeeze in your chest. Was this what it felt like to fall in love?
You were officially freaking out. For the rest of the evening, you tried to keep yourself from ogling at Linong. When you returned home, you had proceeded to look up everything about crushes on the Internet. Then, you had tossed and turned in your bed for the rest of the night, debating your entire existence.
Confess? You didn’t want to be one of those shallow girls that just threw herself at a boy as soon as she had a slight interest. But was it just a “slight interest” though? Of course you had crushes before, but never like this. The rush of warmth you got today whenever Linong’s hand brushed against yours, or when he took care of you. Maybe you had always liked him but was too scared to admit it to yourself.
When you had been with Zhengting, you always seemed to be pushing yourself to do things you wouldn’t have normally enjoyed. Meanwhile, around Linong, you never felt yourself straining to be...something you weren’t. You could just be unapologetically you and Linong would always accept you as you were.
You pressed your face into your pillow and groaned. What were you going to do?
“Hey…..hey!” you whispered harshly in Linong’s direction. When he turned towards you, you threw the crumpled up note to him. The paper hit Linong square in the face, knocking his glasses askew. You winced and mouthed a ‘sorry’ when he shot you an annoyed look and stuck his tongue out.
You felt your heartbeat quicken as you watched him unfold the paper and read its contents. Like a hawk, you watched him scrawl something on the paper before throwing it to you without looking back.
With trembling hands, you opened the paper and stared in open shock at what Linong wrote. Instead of choosing ‘yes or no’ , he had circled the ‘or’ in between. At the bottom of the paper, Linong had written “IS THAT ALL YOU GOT?” (yes, in all-caps). You looked up to find him already looking at you with his chair tilted back casually and smiling innocently. You flipped him off and Linong replied by blowing you a kiss. You flicked the imaginary kiss away and pretended to watch it sail off into the distance.
Linong laughed and his chair, which had been balancing on two of its legs, slipped out from under him. Linong went down flailing, banging his head on the desk behind him in the process. The room went silent. The teacher sighed tiredly and sent Linong to the nurse’s office.
You rushed to the nurse’s office as soon as class let out. “Oh my goodness, are you okay Nongnong?” you exclaimed when you saw him lying on the bed with an ice pack on his head. He groaned in response, letting you know he was alive. “Let’s just go home.”
The nurse must’ve given him pain relievers that made people slightly loopy because Linong was more giggly than normal on the way home. Linong suddenly stopped and grabbed your shoulders, forcing you to face him. “Y/n, my answer is yes.” You wrinkle your brow in confusion, “What?”
Linong huffed and rolled his eyes dramatically, “Yes! I like you.” He hugged you to his side and continued his ramblings. “I waited for such a long time for you! And then you confessed first. Imagine that! Even though it was kind of a trashy confession, I feel like I could die from happiness.”
You crossed your arms and frowned at him, “I spent a lot of time planning that ‘trashy confession’ out. I scoured the web for at least an hour for ideas and then I spent the whole class waiting for the teacher to turn his back on the class to pass you that ‘trashy confession’.” You wiggled yourself out of Linong’s embrace and snarled, “I didn’t even get to take any notes in class today because of you and my ‘trashy confession.’”
Linong leaned waaaaaay in, so that your faces were only a few centimeters apart. “Should I give you a reward for all your hard work?” he asked lowly. You gulped, not used to this side of your bestie who was normally all sunshine and no shade. He smiled and his intimidating aura morphing back to the innocent persona you were used to.
He took your face between his hands and pressed his lips to your forehead. Your breath caught in your throat and you quickly hugged him around the waist. You bury your face in Linong’s chest, hiding the blush on your face.
He pulled away from you and took your hand in his. Mystified, you stared down at your intertwined fingers and that’s when you noticed it. The incomplete halves of the soulmate marks on each of your wrists were pressed together, lining up to form a lopsided but complete heart. Linong’s half look faded and choppy, as if it had been scrawled onto his wrist with a crayon. Your mark was smooth with the stroke enlarging at the bottom, like it was drawn with a calligraphy pen. The heart wasn’t perfect. But love was never meant to be perfect anyways.

Chen Linong ♡ 》 Ataraxy
Tumblr media
Pairing: Condemned! Soulmates Linong x Reader
Genre: Supernatural, Angst, Romance, Possible triggers.
Please don't be upset with the mature way Linong will be depicted in this imagine because this all came to me in my dream. I was thinking of substituting an older member but then decided to keep it how it originally was because Linong deserves angsty stories too. Sorry.
You were never happy with your soulmate.
It was almost like a curse that went back way deep into the roots of China's history.
What kind of curse is it?
Well, you two are cursed to be together for 2000 lifetimes.
Meaning, you two will be together as long as 2000 births and deaths.
You were bethroted to him in every single life and you could not bear that.
So you two often killed one another, at least one of you lived happily away from the other.
The enchantress who watched over both of you had often showed displeasure for why you two can never get along as well.
You would also remember one another in the next life and the frustration about how you died would keep on increasing.
It was now 2018 and the times have changed.
You two were getting too sick of killing one another so you just stayed away from each other.
"Let's just have a truce for now."
"Yeah, let's just stay away each other's paths."
It was going well.
With that, you both tried to be nice to one another.
Cooking meals for two people.
Doing laundry for one another.
Truth is, it felt good to both of you.
You felt like you were learning about each other.
It actually made both of you realize that maybe being married to one another wasn't so bad after all.
But you still tried to stay away from one another.
Your parents of this life told you that you both were to attend a party together.
Both your parents were business people and you would often attend with them to this fancy events but this was the first time where you two were introduced as an engaged...pair.
You hated these events as much as Linong. It was filled with superficial peopoe who just wanted connections to bring up their already dying businesses.
"I'm going to get a drink." Linong told his parents before vanishing away from your side.
You were left alone to explore and you came across an extremely charming man who introduced himself as Lin Yanjun.
He was the son of the Lin AI which was one of the most innovative companies in Asia.
A lot of ladies wanted to marry him but he was not the settling kind.
"I heard you were marrying the Chens' kid. Must be unfortunate to be with such a loser." He said as he took a sip from his martini.
From far away, Linong was watching you.
He strangely felt mad seeing Yanjun hit on you that he failed to notice how hard he was clenching onto his wine glass.
"He isn't that bad, really." You told him as you recalled the little things that he did for you.
"Wouldn't it be better if you were engaged to me, darling? I can make you a lot happier than he could."
You were disgusted by this and was about to retort back but then you felt a strong grip on your wrist.
You winced a bit and looked to whomever that person was.
Linong....and a very mad one at that.
"I would appreciate if you wouldn't steal my wife."
"She isn't even your wife yet."
"She has been for as long as I can recall." Linong spat and you knew it had a double meaning to it.
Linong had to explain that you two were heading home first to your parents.
And as you two were in the car, bound to your shared house...
Linong kept quiet.
There was an unnatural coldness to him.
When the driver left and you got inside, you were surprised to be faced with an angry looking Linong.
"When we said we would stay of each other's parts, I didn't mean you can go around and flirt with other men."
You were offended.
If he only knew how you wanted to defend him.
Instead, it was replaced by annoyance.
"How dare you? I wasn't flirting with him!"
"You were oggling over him!"
"I wasn't!"
You found yourself suddenly trapped against the wall and Linong's frame.
"Stop lying to me." He slammed his hand against the wall which made you flinch.
"What? Are you going to hurt me again? Are we going back to killing one another?" You started questioning him.
"Just tell me the truth that you like him, damn it!" He leaned closer to glare at you and you glared back.
"I am! I don't like him, you idi--"
Your eyes widened as you were cut off by Linong's rough kiss.
In contrast to his soft lips, the kiss was desperate but it was also confused.
You did not know why you didn't push back nor why you started to kiss back.
He did not know why either but he felt so mad seeing you with Yanjun.
He felt jealous.
And he had never felt that way before.
The next day, you two woke up in his room.
It had probably been the first time you had shared a room in your 1560 years of reincarnation.
You were snuggled up in his arms and his chin was resting on top of your head.
You could smell the faint scent of his cologne from the white polo he had worn last night.
Your navy blue dress had already been crinkled from all the kissing and hugging you two had done.
He was the first to woke up.
He was a bit surprised to see you sleeping next to him but then remembered what happened last night.
He had cupped one of your cheeks and gently stroked it with his thumb.
Had you always been this beautiful? He only noticed how you were so by being this close.
Was he in love you? He was certain he was.
All those years made it impossible not to see sides of you that may have got him interested.
When you woke up, your cheeks instantly went red when you noticed how he was staring at you.
You were about to pull away but he only tightened his embrace around your waist.
"Don't."
"But..our deal.."
"Let's set a new deal..." he mumbled as he continued circling his thumb against your cheek.
"What deal...?" You tried to look away from him but he kept turning your head back at him.
"How about we...get married for real this time? Let's live happily."
"But..."
"No buts...I am already in love with you anyway and if I have to...I'll make you fall in love with me too."
There was silence.
A comfortable one at that.
"You don't have to...maybe I feel the same way for you too."
And that was the first time you two had smiled blissfully at one another.
Far away, the enchantress smiled softly.
"You two were so close to breaking the curse but now you two chose to be together forever." She waved her hands and golden dusts spread over the roof of your house.
"May you two be blessed with more happy memories and soon children to call your own."
And it only took six years for those little blessings to come your way.

sunshine ; chen linong
Tumblr media
[hello ! can i request a fluffy chen linong imagine ? thanks ! ♥︎]
(A/N: thank you anon for requesting a linong fluff! he’s actually my ult in the group so my heart was going crazy while writing this. i was actually inspired by the project my school did one time. i really recommend you guys to listen to the songs mentioned below, the songs have good meaning to them. hope you guys enjoy this!)
genre: high school au fluff
requested: yaAAASSS
your high school had this project where you can dedicate a song to someone during lunch break, but the thing is, you have to have an anonymous name when you request
and for the past 3 days you’ve been getting songs dedicated to you from a person who goes by the name
sunshine
personally, you don’t know anyone who would go by the name sunshine
today sunshine dedicated another song to you
‘this song is dedicated to y/n again! wow, 4 days in an row. anyways it’s from sunshine again and this song is called falling for you by peachy. have a sunny day!’ then the announcer started playing the song
all of your friends were legit screaming because they were so happy for you
‘y/n sunshine is literally so cute!! i wish i had someone to dedicate songs for me’
while they were all so busy fangirling about this mystery person of yours, you were busy listening to the lyrics of the song
‘but i can’t help it i’m falling for you and i can’t quit it cause i’m stuck on you’
these lyrics hit you in the head so hard
this sunshine person likes you
you weren’t really sure how to react to this
so tried to not think about it that much
‘someone likes me?’ was playing again and again in your mind
you didn’t even realize that it was already the last period
well good thing you have someone to talk to while going home
your best friend in the whole wide universe, linong
you two have been friends for god knows how long
you told him all about what happened today
‘nongnong they did it again! but now i think t-they like me?’
‘oh, really?’
‘yes! ugH the song’s lyrics was stuck in my mind for the rest of the day.’ you complain
‘i mean it’s flattering and all, but i really like someone else’ that someone else was right next to you
when you turned to linong you saw that he looked sad
‘hey, why are you sad all of a sudden?’ you ask
‘ah, its nothing. i just think you should give him a chance’
as he said those words, your heart sank because linong was the only person in your heart, nobody else, but just for the sake of making him happy you told him that you’ll give sunshine a chance
the next day you went to your locker and there was a note, and it said ‘meet me in front of the student council room during recess :)’ it didn’t say who it was from, but you were assuming it was from sunshine
as you enter the classroom you see that your friends along with your classmates were crowding your desk
‘come here y/n!’ almost all of them shouted, so you came to look what was on your desk
it was a bouquet of your favorite flowers
you smiled at the sight of the flowers and thought about what linong said, maybe you should give sunshine a chance to express himself
during recess you went to the student council room to...maybe...see sunshine ????
you saw a guy walk in so you went near to see who it was and,,,,
XUKUN?????
xukun is sunshine????
xukun is your friend and the president of the student council,, but he has a girlfriend soooo WHAT???
‘hey xukun!’ you yelled at him
‘are you sunshine?’
‘whaAT no way dude, i’m loyal to my girlfriend, and besides you belong to, sunhiiiiine!’ he mocked you playfully
‘anyways they wanted me to tell you that you’ll be meeting them later behind the school fountain.’
‘okay, thanks kunkun’ then you hugged him tightly
during lunch you weren’t expecting them to dedicate another song to you since you two are already meeting later, but they did
‘this song is dedicated again to y/n, it’s a song called love by finding hope, and for the last time, have a sunny day!’
again while your friends were all melting from all this, you were carefully listening to the lyrics of the song
‘i know i can't keep chasing after you if you don't feel some way or feel the same about me i know i can't keep chasing after you and babe if that's the case, just know that...’
i love you
your heart was aching so much
you thought about linong while listening to the song
now that you think you’ve found someone who likes you and you would actually give them a chance, you can’t think about him anymore
you can’t be flustered whenever he holds your hand
you can’t be all giddy when he’s around you
you can’t love him anymore
for the rest of the day you only thought about whether you would consider their love
or you would listen to your own feelings, and reject them
finally the last period ended
before going to the fountain area you went to linong to tell him that you weren’t going home with him, but he also told you that he wasn’t going home too because he has some errands to do with his mom
while going to the fountain your heart was pumping so fast
you were nervous
you still haven’t decided what to tell them
so you were leaving it up to fate
when you arrived there, you were so shocked to see ruibin with a bouquet of roses in his hand
‘r-ruibin you’re sunshine?’ you pointed out, but he just chuckled and gave you the flowers, then went behind the tree
next in line was kaihao who was holding balloons that were heart shaped, he then gave them to you and followed ruibin and went behind the tree
and then after kaihao was linong but he wasn’t carrying anything, nor does he have anyone behind him
which means
‘linong a-are you sunshine?’ you asked again
he just smiled which made your heart flutter and beat so fast
‘hey! answer me already’ you hit his arm while there were already tears in your eyes
he still didn’t answer, but instead he kissed your forehead lightly not wanting to hurt you
you now realize that he is in fact the one and only, sunshine
you suddenly hug him tightly and kiss his cheek
‘i-i thought you like someone else?’ he questioned
‘silly you, that someone else is you because i didn’t know that you were sunshine’ you laughed
you two hug again before leaving the campus and heading home with a happy heart

he’s always so giggly and blushing
he never knows what to do with himself lmao
ur just so cute n pretty and hasjdjdjsfjds

“justin do u want ur ass kicked”
but poor bby is so under pressure
bc he just likes you so much nd juSt wants to hold your hand all the time :((((
so he shows up at your house with a bunch of daisies
and he’s just kind of like “dOn’t throw it at her”
bc he’s so nervous and justin really almost convinced him to just throw the flowers at you and run back home
once you open the door he literally holds the flowers in your face
and ur kind of just like.............................................uh
“linong i kind of have allergies aND THE FLOWERS AREN’T HELPING”
“sORRy i just really like you a lot and liKE i understand if u don’t just pls don’t reject me too hard”
“who says i was gonna reject you?”
he almost faints
bc holy fUck you like him
“am i allowed to hold your hand now”
oK and that leads me to my next point
always always holds your hand
any chance he can get
he is holding it
and at first he’s super shy about it
like he purposely brushes his hand against your to send you the message
but your tiny little brain can’t really understand that
takes you on super cute dates
like the cheesy, cliche ones bc he doesn’t really know what to do
so he just does whatever he sees in dramas lmaoo
and they never really go as planned
like he tried taking you to a park to have a cute little picnic but you end up getting shit on by a bird
“i just felt something fall onto my head”
“uHhhhhhhhhh i think it’s poop”
and that Ruins That
and when he tries to take you to an amusement park
he doesn’t really mention that he gets dizzy a little too easily
and right after your first rollercoaster he kind of...............................throws up on your shoes
and it’s disgusting but hey
he buys you flip flops from the nearest store
and the rest of the day he’s super embarrassed and doesn’t even look at you
“linong you haven’t spoken for like two hours”
“hhhh sorry i just- your shoes”
and you can tell he’s kind of affected by it so you just
grab his face and kiss him really quickly
you’re both kind of caught off guard
bc w h y did you do that
and he’s just like ???? gOd she just kissed me i like her so much wow my heart is beating so fast i’M going to have a heart attack”
“sOrry i JUST omg”
“can we.................do that again?”
and at that point it looks like you just got the life slapped out of you bc your cheeks were so rEd
and he kisses you again super quickly
and then looks away so you can’t see the smile on his face
wow i m crying
he laughs at everything
so it’s easy to make him laugh
and it’s so nice bc you get to see his pretty smile all the time and it’s probably your favorite thing in the world
he’s super giggly
and likes giving ur nose little kisses :((((
he is very whipped but he doesn’t care
likes doing your hair :(((
he sucks at braiding but he does it anyway
and he likes to brush it after you shower
and always offers to blow dry it for you
i’m crying oh my gOD
but probably dries one spot for too long and almost burns ur scalp lmao
when you’re sad he gets all pouty and acts cute to get you to smile again
and it works bc it’s cHEN LINONG
he likes you so much
and it kind of scares him bc bby doesn’t want to get hurt :((
but he thinks you’re so so worth it
and he’s very happy with you
and you’re the same
sometimes when he randomly starts thinking of you, he doesn’t even notice he’s smiling
the members tease him a lot but
hfjsdkasjd you make him so happy :((
im crying

Soft Kiss | CollegeAU Chen Linong
Tumblr media
Notes: So I used to write these scenarios things for other groups when I was like freaking 12 or 13 when I had the writing skill of a bad middle schooler and the relationship experience of nothing but really cliche romance animes. But now I’m 18 so let’s see how this goes lol. Also my first scenario writing in like 4 years pls go easy on me. Would very much appreciate feedback cause I’m not sure this is good or not asdfghjkl.
Words: 2.7k (haha I need to chill)
okay so i get nongnong is the soft shy boy but I think we can give him a lot more credit to think he'll take some initiative.
not saying boy would be full ‘in charge’ but I think he can really be confident in his feelings once he's confident in himself
SO i wrote this because there are too many ‘soft boy nongnong doesn’t know how to relationship’ or ‘too shy to tell you how he feels uwu’
welp im here to show a little more forward but still sweet nongnong
so buckle up cause i got real into this
okay, nongnong would probably fall in love with you from a far or being he's met you in group settings but never really had a one on one conversation with you
but he sees how cute your mannerism is when it comes to how you laugh with your friends or how you light up when you talk about something you're really passionate towards.
he notices these cute things about you just by watching
he's w h i p p e d
'h o w can someone be so cute???' he's probably thinking
you and him have mutual friends like zhangjing and yanjun
yanjun being nongnong's roommate and you having to study english with him that’s how you guys meet
yanjun introduces you guys
at first, yeah nongnong thinks you’re cute and all but doesn't have that big of an impression on you
but his interest peeks when you spend the day 'studying' with yanjun
and by ‘studying’ I mean you guys only studied for the first hour before ordering food and started playing video games
nongnong hears yelling from outside his bedroom and he walks in to you guys playing mario cart and eating pizza
"wow yanjun" he says with a hint of pain in his voice
you both stop to look at him
"you guys dare to play my mario cart and not invite me???"
so obviously nongnong joins in on the fun
and while you guys play he starts to see how you are, beside from your brief introductions
he realizes just how cute you are when you’re having fun
to your adorable reactions as you jump in your seat when you get hit with a shell or how antsy you get when yanjun dares to pass you into 1st place
in the end you constantly beat yanjun for first while he gets second and nongnong is just content with his stable 5th or 6th place because seeing your little victory dance and teasing of yanjun as you win everytime is enough for nongnong to feel like he's won
cause w o w he never knew he could come across someone as adorable as you
okay but that's just the surface of you guys path's crossing
you and zhangjing are best friends
but zhangjing and nongnong always get food before their history class so they can cram/get hw done last minute
zhangjing eats your food whenever he comes over your place
that damn freeloader
but you'll never actually stop him, rather you see opportunities for future food purchases from him.
so you're hungry as heck one day after class and you have no money
that's when you see your best friend rushing into one of the food places on campus
"hey zhangjing!!! buddy do you have any money on you :) "
"what why??"
"remember MY leftover pizza you ate in my fridge last weekend? :))))"
you pull out the receipts and he cant find an excuse so he reluctantly buys you food
you guys meet up with nongnong after and you recognize him
I mean how could you not
he wasn't that talkative but he was a sweetheart from what you remember
*cough* and not to mention was pretty cute *cough*
"oh hi y/n!"
nongnong lights up when he sees you
"you guys know each other??? dont you just stay inside all day, how do you know peo-”
you step on zhangjing foot hard enough so he can feel it but not hard enough for him to scream
and cue the explanation story of how you guys met to zhangjing
suprise zhangjing is good friends with yanjun too and grew up together
suprise suprise its a small world and you guys decide why not all of you hangout cause mutual friends?
the four of you then started to hangout
often had study sessions or more mario cart races as 4 people and you and nongnong got closer
nongnong, getting to know you fell in love with you even more and just really loved being around with you even tho you guys never spent time alone.
time was always spent together with either yanjun or zhangjing and he doesnt think he has any courage to even be in the same room with you alone
yanjun and zhangjing have figured out nongnong's painful obvious crush and try to help him out
zhangjing as your best friend definitely approves of nongnong cause at least he's a good kid unlike the flirt yanjun is
but anyway yanjan and zhangjing have enough of pinning nongnong and tell him he should just confess or you and his relationship will never change
he knows but he's scared
he's never dated let alone have his first kiss
he thinks its sad cause he's in college but relationships were never something he really sought out till he meet you
he never had his heart quicken so fast for someone, feel his stomach in constant knots or felt lost for words like this until he meet you
you caused all these bubbly feelings in him and he couldn't stand it, he had to tell you
nongnong decides to ask you to come over and hangout that weekend
yanjun gets kicked out but its okay cause him and zhangjing decide to hangout and spam nongnong cause they want all the updates
“yo 10 bucks he kisses her” zhangjing says while they wait for nongnong to text back
“pfft he won't do it”
“wow, doubting our nongnong”
“yeah I'm not even sure he'll go through with telling her”
“oh, if you're so sure how about raising the stakes and buy me whatever meal i want if im right”
”you’re on”
little does yanjun know, zhangjing is your best friend and he knows you
so you actually have a thing for nongnong too you’re just better at hiding it
like nongnong, you fell from the little interactions and observations
you thought it was endearing to see him always try and lighten up the mood when someone was down
or how he'd remember little things like yanjun and zhanjings favorite foods or drinks so he could get some for them when they seem to be down, eventually even doing this for you too
he gave you thoughtful advice and help when you needed it from someone besides your best friend
overall he was someone you wanted to depend on and fell for each and every time you saw him
when he asked you to hang out alone you're shocked
‘h o l y  c r a p  I've never hung out with him alone what do I do???’
you're a nervous mess but you don't want to pass up this opportunity
so you say yes
that weekend you get to his dorm and at first its very awkward
but nongnong tries super hard to lighten the mood by telling you funny stories about yanjun or doing silly things
you guys break out in laughter after listening to nongnong's story about how yanjun got a girls number only to give him a Chinese take out number and when he asked again about the ‘wrong number’ she gave him a different take out place
“I can't believe he asked again after she gave him a fake number the first time!” you laugh
“you gotta admit though it's clever she had another take out number on hand for the 2nd time”
you two are a mess of giggles and have closed the space there was previously between you 2 on the couch when you first got there
you didn't know when the two of you got so close but you and nongnong had your legs and arms brushed up against each other
every so often you would lean into nongnong's shoulders while you were in your laughing fits
and nongnong took notice to the distant and could literally feel his heart popping out of his chest
you obviously noticed the distance as well cause oh boy his smile from this close and his laugh humming in your ears made it feel like you were gonna die from how much it filled you up with this warm feeling
up close you notice little things like the cute mole right below his nose or the sweet but minty scent that probably comes from his shampoo or cologne
you both kinda come to a calm and eventually stop laughing
your eyes meet and that's when the heat rises into your cheeks and the butterflies in your stomach run loose cause his gaze into your eyes is so gentle looking
“hey y/n”
you die a little inside cause you've never heard him ever call out your name so softly like that
its timid and delivered sweetly like it was something fragile on the tip of his tongue but had a hint of fearfulness to it.
“y-yes” catching you off guard
he catches his breath
“I like you”
you kinda look at his serious expression and you're a little too shocked to say anything
nongnong sees the shock in your face and starts to panic
“oh god um- I didnt mean to scare you or anything but i just couldn't wait any longer to tell you cause you looked so cute so i just had to tell you- but it was so abrupt what was I thinking, you don't have to answer or a matter of fact you can just pretend this didnt happen if you wan-”
“I like you too!”
his panic halts and you see the visible red as his face heats up
“you do????”
“yes, I've actually liked you for awhile now”
cue nongnong's redness to increase tenfold and he breaks into that signature smile
“so does that mean if i asked you to be my girlfriend you'll say yes???”
you giggle out a ”mhm”
and he's so happy he pulls you into a hug and you both break out into giggles
f i n a l l y  he could hold the big cutie that you were and call you his
nongnong holds you for quite some time while telling you how cute you are and goes on to list what makes you adorable
“the way your voice perks up with you get nervous or the way your giggle sounds so cuteeee” he goes on and you're heavily embarrassed
“nongnongggg please noooo” you're blushing so hard from the compliments you might actually die
he then lets you go and stops with the listing before he brings a hand to your cheek.
he runs circles with his thumb against your cheek and smiled ever so brightly
“im sorry its just- I've fallen so hard for someone as precious as you.”
man you're seriously gonna die from the sweetness of this boy
you then proceed to spend the rest of the night talking about when you started to like each other and finding that personalness you guys missed out on cause you never got the chance to hangout alone until today
later when you get ready to leave for the night nongnong stops you outside his door
“wait y/n before you go, can I hold you for a bit?”
u m  y e s
but in reality you just nod yes shyly before he pulls you into a hug where his big frame just sallows you up
hes so warm and sweet smelling when your face kinda presses into his chest
it’s the sheer definition of comfort and warmth and you never want to leave
once he lets go you wince a little cause the pleasant feeling of his embrace disappears
but before he entirely pulls away he plants a little kiss on your forehead
“goodnight y/n”
you say the same and you walk off literally stumbling and disoriented cause he's so precious your heart cannot comprehend it, you’re soft from this precious boy
nongnong probably texts yanjun and zhangjing in a group chat later that night
’guys i did it! I told her and now we're dating!!!’
zhangjing: ‘okay cool but did you kiss her???’
linong: ‘on her forehead i did’
zhanjing: ‘IT COUNTS, I CALLED IT’
yanjun: ‘FUCK'
yanjun’s wallet is then screwed
anyway after all this your relationship takes off
it starts out a little awkward but you guys start to adjust in time
Nongnong is constantly shy as heck when it comes to pda and holding your hand and thats all he can handle in front of other people
he can barely do that tho when yanjun and zhangjing constantly tease
but even though he's not blatant with his affection in public he’s still someone who tries to give subtle touches
to quick back rubs if you're walking side by side to when your arm rest on tables while you study he’ll lightly squeezes them while you work
he's tends to have trouble knowing what right words to say if you're upset or mad but is a great listener
he doesn't tend to get upset as easily as you would but when he does its a pretty big deal to you
he tries his best to not let any of his ill emotion get to him or let it out on you
and he tells you how he feels but often is really reluctant to talk unless you give him lots of convincing
he even likes to put on a smile for you like he's okay but you can tell he's not
he lets it build up so when he spills to you his feelings he tends to cry and holds on to you like his life depends on it
It’s hard for him to always keep a happy face so he really values these times
your touch and warmth calms him down when he breaks down like that
his affection maybe hard to convey in public but he lives for your embrace when it's just you 2
at first he always asked if it was okay to hug you or hold your hand
he wants to make sure you're comfortable
but you guys get to the point where he doesn't have to ask but naturally he just intertwines your fingers with his or cuddles up to you when you'd be sitting on the couch or his bed alone together
now kissing is a different story
at first he could only give you kisses on the forehead or your temple
progressively he started getting bolder sneaking pecks on the cheek or even lips (he apologized probably the first time he randomly kissed you on the lips but you gave him a quick kiss back and he died)
he constantly gives soft pecks because long kisses aren't something you have done yet
until one day
you're sitting on his couch watching a show when he nudges you a bit
you look at him and he moves in to plant small kisses on your forehead, to your nose your cheek and then softly your lips
doing this makes you giggle and he loves it to bits
Nongnong is gentle with kisses
kissing you so delicately like you'll break under his touch
he plants a soft kiss on your lips doing it again and again and again before the soft but fleeting kisses stop and he just doesn't pull away while kissing
he keeps his position and presses his lips onto yours just as delicately but it's far more passionate then the quick kisses from before
you're a little shocked cause you wouldn't expect him to kiss you like this but nevertheless it didn't stop you from kissing back
he presses into your lips slowly and tenderly while bringing his hands up to cup your face
the kiss is long but never rough just soft and sweet
you pull away and he's dazed before he can really comprehend what he did
“oh.” slips your mouth
“oh?”
“that was uh…”
“was it bad?”
“no it was good, um really good”
he lights up
long soft kisses are now your new killer
especially when you’re caught off guard he tends to do them the most
He usually doesn’t try to get you flustered but he wants to do it once in a while
so he loves how flustered they get you because of the kisses and definitely plans on doing them more
so ultimately this boy is definitely gonna be the death of you

金継ぎ
Tumblr media
Pairing: Chen Linong x Reader
Requested: Nah,, I just felt an intense to write this.
Genre:  Angst (oops?)
Trigger Warning(s): Self Harm
Word Count: 2,193
A/N: “What on earth did this turn into?”  – Top 10 Questions Science Can’t Answer and Neither Can I Even Though I Wrote This. I really hope it’s worth it though and I hope I didn’t romanticize this stuff.
Also about the title:
金継ぎ or ‘kintsugi’ is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver or platinum. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object rather than something to hide. [Wikipedia]
Chen Linong is invisible. Maybe not literally, but he might as well be considering how he passes people without them noticing– his face almost always down covered by his hoodie, the sleeves pulled so far low that his hands are barely visible. He barely talks to anyone, if at all– speaking only when someone asks him anything which is rare. He isn’t cold, anyone sharing a class with him will tell you that; on the contrary, he’s helpful– picking up after people silently and unnoticeably– which isn’t hard considering how no one seems to notice him in the first place. Chen Linong isn’t memorable because he barely gives anyone something to remember him by and that’s how he manages to be invisible– nothing more than a ghost who people don’t approach unless they absolutely, desperately need something.
Chen Linong is invisible but if you were being completely honest with yourself, he’s all you can see when you’re in the same space as him. He’s silent and passing but he’s always there on your mind. Your head is filled with thoughts of him– of wanting to slip off the hood he covers his face with and of pushing back his fringes so you can see his face. Chen Linong isn’t memorable because you can’t ever reduce him to just a memory– not when every little detail about him seems to be seared into your mind, ready to be recalled the second you close your eyes. If he was a ghost, your mind was haunted by nothing but the thoughts of him.
***
Linong’s eyes light up a little when you step inside the small cafe his family owns– it’s even better since you’re alone today. Lately, he feels that the only time he sees you is when you’re with people and honestly while he’s really happy you’re making friends, it makes him feel a little left out– like there’s nowhere he belongs anymore and that’s a feeling he’s too familiar with.
You smile when your eyes meet his and when he smiles back, a familiar feeling of warmth pools inside your gut. You’ve known Linong for almost all your life and you’ve loved his smile for at least half– if not all– of it and the feeling is intensified because he rarely smiles anymore, especially not at other people. It makes you feel a little special.  You exchange greetings and proceed to take a seat at the counter and look around waiting for him to join you with your orders.
The cafe is nearing closing time and the crowd has thinned considerably; the only people who linger around are old customers or a few university students who’re killing time before returning home after their evening classes. You’ve always been a little in awe of the cafe the Chens run– it’s small and homely with an endless playlist of Yiruma playing in the background like an afterthought. It’s the sort of cafe where you could easily get lost doing your own thing and that had always been what Linong’s parents– especially his father– wanted the cafe to be. A wave of sadness hits you at the thought of Linong’s father– it’s been almost two years since he passed away and you miss him a little– you can’t say you knew him well but he was always sweet and funny and helpful whenever you came over to the Chens’ house or their cafe. Admittedly, your sadness comes more from knowing that Linong misses his father much more than anyone would imagine– it was after his death that Linong began receding into a shell and stopped smiling as often as he did, becoming the ghost of the boy you’d known all your life– the very ghost that most of your classmates knew now.
You’re mulling over the memories of how he used to be, your heart breaking slowly at all the changes he’s undergone when Linong returns. “Here you go,” he says quietly, offering you a small smile as he takes a seat next to you. You smile gratefully and wrap your hands around the cup of caramel macchiato that he’s set before you. “Thank you, Nongnong,” you whisper and he offers you another small smile.
The next few minutes pass quietly as the two of you get absorbed in your own thoughts, drinking your coffee. The silence is comfortable with Yiruma’s If I Could See You Again playing quietly in the background. It’s a silence both of you are used to probably from all the evenings you’d spend in middle school at his house completing due homework– working silently alongside each other and speaking only if you needed to cross check answers while his parents played an assorted mix of Yiruma and Beethoven and talked quietly in the background.
Linong uses this time to admire you and the way the lighting of the cafe brings out the warmth in your skin making you glow as though you have a million small suns inside you. He’s always in awe of you lately– with how you’re unmissable even in a crowd and with how no one he’s ever known could deny how easily you draw people to you. He’s known that he was in love with you for a long time but now, after everything in his life has happened, he’s also extremely grateful for you– because even though you may not know it, you’re the only person besides his mother who makes him want to live anymore. A part of him wants to tell you but the thought of voicing how he feels instinctively makes him run his thumb over the scars on his arms that he keeps hidden with his oversized hoodies. They would never love someone like you– they deserves much better, the voice inside him tells him. And so he keeps his feelings to himself and admires you silently.
It’s you who breaks the silence once you’ve finished your coffee. “How are you Nongnong, really? How is therapy?” you ask, placing your cup down and turning all your attention to him. Linong sighs, your voice breaking his train of thought and meets your gaze making the butterflies in your stomach flutter around like they do in spring.
“I’m okay,” he replies after a few moments, the words coming out slowly as if he’s trying them out. “Therapy is good– my therapist is nice. He’s funny… Kind of reminds me of dad.” The smile on his face is bitter with sadness. “But I guess it’s supposed to be this way,” he continues, “Freudian concept of transference and whatnot, right?”
You nod. A part of you wants to ask him more but you’re afraid of how he would react if you did. “You’ll be okay, Nong,” you tell him instead. “Things will get better from here out.”
The words make him look at you you’re afraid you’ve said something wrong because he looks angry– like he wants to snap at you for your hopeful optimism but instead he just nods absently and begins to clear the table you’ve been sharing. “Thank you for coming over today, Y/N,” he says and you know that the evening is over. “I hope they will.”
You offer him a smile. “Talk to me in school sometime,” you mumble almost to yourself. “I miss your voice sometimes.” Nongnong hears it anyway but he pretends he hasn’t– instead letting you see yourself out of the cafe as he makes his way back into the kitchen. You don’t deserve her, he tells himself over and over.
***
So much of pop culture around you was filled with the idea that a masterpiece was essentially broken– irreparably so for that matter. There were countless songs and books and films based on that idea; of someone falling in love with a person who was broken– drawn to the thrill of the sharp edges that come with broken pieces and to the idea of fixing what was broken– of joining the pieces like a puzzle and filling the remaining gaps with something akin to the Japanese ‘kintsugi.’
You didn’t believe it. You didn’t think people were masterpieces, not specifically when they were falling apart– when the tremors started, leaving cracks in their wake. You didn’t think people could be saved by love, every crack filling up in liquid gold and creating something beautiful. It wasn’t something that happened and yet, every time you saw Linong– in the fleeting moments that your eyes met his in the corridors and classrooms of your highschool and on evenings that you spent with him at the cafe– you wished it was true that love could fix everything because the heavens knew that given the chance, you would give anything to see Linong happy again.
You told him that one evening at the cafe– the words slipping out of you when his smile didn’t quite reach his eyes as he told you about how good therapy was turning out. “You don’t mean that,” Linong replied, pulling away ever so slightly. “You don’t want that, Y/N– you shouldn’t.”
“I do, though,” you answered back, holding his gaze. “I really do, Linong. Sometimes, it’s the only fictional thing I ever want being true.”
“You really shouldn’t,” he mumbled, his gaze flickering both concerned for and unsure of you– especially when you reached out for his arm, cautiously pushing back the sleeve. “What are you doing, Y/N?” he asks you, his voice is so low it would have scared you if you couldn’t feel his pulse quickening as your fingers ghost over his scars.
“I’ve known you all my life, Chen Linong,” you whisper, your eyes trained on the half healed scars covering him, “and I’ve probably loved you for all of it, too. I’ve seen you for so long… you’ve been my best friend, Nongnong and I’d like to believe that I’ve been yours too– so I’d like to think I know you well enough to know that you’ve gone through so much in the past two years and it’s hurt you and it keeps hurting you.”
You look up at him, your fingers caressing the scar closest to his pulse. “I am in love with you Chen Linong and if my love for you could fix you, I’d give up everything to see you smile properly again.”
Linong doesn’t speak for the longest time– not to answer your confession, not even to ask you to stop. A part of him doesn’t want you to stop– you say your love can’t fix him and he believes it because love can’t fix anything but when your fingers run over the cuts, he swears he can feel their sting lessening. Your love can’t save him but he really wishes it could but only as long as you don’t injure yourself in the process.
However, that’s a fool’s wish and he knows it– he knows if he gives in to his urges and tells you how much you make him want to go on living he’ll pull you into the sinking ship that he sees as his life and won’t do that to you– he can’t do that to you.  You deserve so much better than me, he thinks to himself when he meets your gaze.
“Nongnong?” you ask him, your voice gentle as if you’re afraid he’ll run and truthfully, he wants to at that moment because everything– from your touch to your voice to the way you’re looking at him– is so gentle and filled with hope, it makes him feel like an asshole for doing what he’s about to do.
“You should leave,” he tells you, seriously. Your eyes widen in shock because of while there were millions of reactions you’d imagined him having, this wasn’t one of them. “You really should leave, Y/N,” he repeats, tugging his sleeves down and hiding the scars, gathering your empty cups. “I appreciate the sentiment, honestly but I don’t need anyone to fix me– especially not you.”
With that, he walks away leaving you alone, resisting the urge to turn back and look at you because he knows that his resolve will falter if he turns back and he can’t let do that to you. It’s for the best, he tells himself. They deserve much better than me and the mess I am.
You stand in your spot, confused and hurt, for what you feel is an eternity– leaving only when the tears start dripping down your face, furiously wiping your tears to make them stop until you can return to the safety to your home. Linong watches you leave from the kitchen and wills himself with every inch of his being to not chase you down the street. They’ll be much happier this way, he assures himself half-heartedly.
Pop culture is full of broken characters looking to be fixed and Chen Linong has read and heard and watched enough to know that all of them are self-absorbed and over-grandised assholes. He hates most of them but as he watches you leave and when you avoid his gaze in school the next day, he knows he’s added himself to the same list as them.

Nine Percent scenarios my brain thought of when I first saw their pics
Tumblr media
ALRIGHT FIRST OF ALL!! SILVER KUNKUN!! I’M DEAD!! NEXT OF ALL, I HAVE 2 DIFFERENT OF SCENARIOS WHEN LOOKING AT THIS PIC, MKAY!
SCENARIO 1: Kun saw you attending an event that he was also attending (let’s say mafia/gang meeting, which you have no idea of) and he asked for one of the staffs to guide you to another place so he could meet you and ensures your safety
“Please ensure her to the other room, I’ll be there shortly”
SCENARIO 2: So, second scenario, I can imagine Kun seeing a guy eyeing you from afar (let’s say it’s still the same meeting he was attending) and other men were either trying to come up to you/flirt with you (which, Kun does not approve whatsoever) and he requested permission from the staff so he can go to your side.
“I want them, in a room. Alive.”
Tumblr media
ALRIGHT BOI!! THIS SMILEY SUNSHINE JUST FLIPPED 180 AND BECAME LIKE A CEO (NAHHH, ALSO THIS IS SCENARIO DOESN’T REALLY HV YOU BUT IT INVOLVES YOU, JUST HEAR ME OUT!!)
So, I imagine that Nongnong and you were very close, working under the same company and all. Then, our precious nongnong (because of his hardwork and sunshine smile) was promoted into the CEO of the company and he appointed you to be his assistant. THEN!!! Y’all had to attend this meeting with a business partner which was fine and all until the freaking representative of the business (a guy) was eye-f*cking you, would even discuss the business more with you instead of Nong (because let’s be real here, who would’ve thought this soft boi is the CEO). Time skip to after the meeting, Nongnong requested to meet this representative, alone!!
Then, Nong was like “How about we talk real business here. Like how you were eye-fucking (OMO CURSE NONG) my assistant-girlfriend”
Tumblr media
ALRIGHT, “BEATEN UP” CHENG IS LIKE HAWT?! LIKE HOW?! ALSO, THIS SCENARIO MAY BE A QUICK ONE BUT LIKE, THIS IS WHAT MY BRAIN THOUGHT OF SO YEA...
This pic, I imagine, something happened to you and Cheng was not going to let it slide that easily. After taking care of you and making sure you were safe and rested, he went out and hunted searched for the very people who hurted you. Not letting any of them to catch their breath, putting them down (not permanently, but feel free to imagine this), making sure they know who they were dealing with when they went out to hurt you, even if it means that he’s risking his own life.
“They should’ve gone for the head when they had the chance. Oh well, their loss. What’s done is done”
Tumblr media
Alright, this may be slightly similar to Chengcheng’s scenario but not really. Let’s get to it!!
So, when I first saw this, I immediately thought of both you and Justin were held captive by another gang (9% is a gang of their own and Justin was just so happen to be with only you, not the others, and was busy protecting you, being outnumbered by a lot, hence why you both ended up being held captive). Both of you were in the same room and though it was just Justin getting beaten up for information at first (which he does not leak whatsoever), it wasn’t long before the gang decided to beat you up for information as well, or even to break Justin, making him leak something. INSTEAD!! What they got was a very pissed off Justin who eventually broke free (specifically, when his geges have arrived to save them and it distracted everyone).
Justin then had a one vs one fight with the one that beated you up and the building was starting to collapse. The opposite gang thought that maybe Justin was done for. BUT NOPE, CUE THE PICTURE!! HE SURVIVED
“I’m going to give you a light head-start. By the time I count to five, you better hope that you’ll be able to find an exit because, you’re nex7 (LMFAO CAN’T HELP IT)”
Tumblr media
SOMEONE HELP!! I’M DED (AGAIN). QUICK TALK, THIS HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF THE BEST PHOTO SHOOTS HE HAS DONE!! LIKE THE HAIRSTYLE, OUTFIT, ACCESSORIES (THAT STICK) IS JUST *CHEFS KISS*. ALRIGHT, ONTO THE SCENARIO BEFORE MY BRAIN FORGETS
So, I imagine that (again, 9% was a gang/mafia of their own, that is for a good cause!!) Yanjun was supposed to meet up with a “business partner” which he was not excited to begin with. But when he heard the news that you were hit on by the “business partner”, something in him was just burning up that he decided to invite them to his (more like 9%)’s bar and have a nice talk fight.
“I heard that you like playing with people’s feelings and emotions. Well, I like to play too. I like to play with pool, drinks, *shifts to dark gaze* the items in this bar that will soon fly around and not to mention blood”
Tumblr media
Alright, first things first, let us ignore the yellow fluffy jacket he has and imagine he was wearing a suit XD But alright, just like Kun, I have 2 different scenarios for Mama Ting!!
Scenario 1: He was fighting with a bad guy/person that “accidentally” hurt you and the guy ended up being limp, trying to escape Zhengting. Buth oh ho no boi, you mess with the wrong person. Thanks to his long flexible legs, he managed to get through every obstacle and following the limp guy in the escape stairs.
“You should really save your energy to say your last words instead of escaping from me. Because, let’s be real, you can’t escape. I (actually the whole 9%) own this building”
Scenario 2 (a bit darker/yandere-ish): you had just found out that your boyfriend, Zhengting was basically “obsessed” with you. He doesn’t mind if you were with your friends that are girls. No, he’s actually happy that you have a good social life and maintain it. However, when it comes to guys, that was definitely not the case.
Sure, it seemed that he was the typical “jealous” boyfriend and he tried his best to not let it get the best of him. But when he found out that you and one of your best friends (that is a guy) went out together with your other friends and play an escape room together, to say Zhengting was jealous was an understatement.
He felt slightly betrayed that you didn’t at least let him know that you were going to play an escape room with your friends and one of them just so happened to be your guy best friend. Ho-hoh, beware my friend because you were in for a treat.
What seemed to be a fake horror/thriller escape room quickly shifted to a real one the minute you and your friends heard screaming, realising that the scream came from your guys friend, all of you decided to run for your life. Shouting for help. When you saw Zhengting in the escape room, you were first relieved that your boyfriend came to save you. But when you found out he was the one that killed your guy best friend, you knew you had to escape. Unfortunately, escaping Zhengting after what you had done was nearly impossible.
“Sweetheart, where are you going? You know you can’t outrun me. I think it’s best for you to just give up. I wouldn’t want to harm you”
SORRY FOR THIS SUDDEN TURN OF EVENTS!!
Tumblr media
First and foremost, can someone cast Ziyi (along with his bros) in like an action movie or something like dayum!!!
Alright, this is going to be a short and sweet one. You were basically held hostage and Ziyi finally came (with his bros, don’t worry) to save you. He looked at the situation and quickly diverse a plan so you wouldn’t get hurt anymore.
“Alright, Xiaogui, Cheng, create a diversion. Once they’re distracted, Jun, Justin, take them out but not kill them, we need information to what it is they want from (Y/N). Then I’ll try my best to release (Y/N). Afterwards, Nong and Zhangjing, quickly take her to safety”
Tumblr media
Can I just say, dayum Xiaogui!! Boi skipped motorcycle, car, truck and straight for the plane (JK)
Alright, for Xiaogui’s scenario, I feel that him and the others managed to rescue you and some other hostages/victims from the enemy. However, the enemy manages to “escape”. Well, not really, since Xiaogui and Zhengting already devised a plan just in case if the enemy does manage to escape. Which is basically hijacking their system and transport. In this case, their plane 😎😎
“Hi, yes, captain Linkai a.k.a Xiaogui speaking. Do fasten your seatbelt as we prepare to head to prison shortly *cue him putting on those shades*”
Tumblr media
OMO!! YOU ZHANGJING IN A BAR?! LIKE!! GUYS!!! HE’S NOT JUST OUT FOR THE FOOD BUT THE DRINKS AS WELL!! OKAY OKAY, SCENARIO!!
The scenario I thought of when looking at this pic of Zhangjing is that he was spying on you and your friends (who were out partying) when the opposing enemy of 9% were at the same bar. At first, Zhangjing would be subtle with the situation. Not really showing himself and all. But when he saw you sitting at the bar and an enemy of the boys decided to hit on you (out of all the girls/guys in the bar), he just bluntly went behind the counter (because let’s be real, I’m sure the boys have enough money to buy a bar, LOL).
“Hi, welcome to our bar. How would you like your drink? Hot? Cold? Or punch? Like what I’m about to do to you if you do not get your hands off of her”
Tumblr media
SORRY SORRY, I JUST HAD TO INSERT THIS GIF XD

[13:22]  “Linong!”  You call out, running after the man.  The park was sunny and there was a light breeze, stirring the scent of the flowers planted along the path.  As a family is wont to do on nice days like this, the park was filled with the sounds of laughter and shrieking children chasing after each other.  Dogs were playing with their owners and you’re almost fairly certain you saw an elderly woman with a lizard at some point.
Unfortunately you weren’t able to enjoy any of this at the moment due to a certain person with a sunshine smile who stole your ice cream right from you.  You thought you and Linong were going to have a lovely date in the park, enjoying the other’s company.  It’s been a few weeks since you’ve been able to hang out due to classes and work and you missed each other.  You didn’t think that this was going to end with you running after Linong who was in sneakers while you were wearing sandals.  The sounds of your sandals slapping on the pavement rang out as people moved out of the way, most with smiles on their faces as they recalled their memories of romances like this.  Linong somehow managed to not drop the ice cream and after a few more moments that felt like an eternity, he started slowing down and you caught up to him.
“Chen Linong!”  You exclaimed, panting slightly.  The smile he gives you when you lightly hit him on the arm is almost worth the whole ordeal he put you through.  You can only maintain your angry façade for a few more moments before a smile bright enough to match his appears.  The sun shining on him and the sound of families laughing in the background fills you with such a sense of affection that you lean in towards him, fluttering your eyes a bit, causing him to lean towards you in return.
You swipe your ice cream from him, turning your face away from his as you bite into the cold treat.  “Love you,” you say, laughing at the face he makes.

Baker Boy - Chen Linong
Can I request a Linong soulmate au in which you can’t smile to anyone who isn’t your soulmate, please? Or any soulmate au, I don’t mind! P.s: your Yanjun scenario is AMAZING! And I can’t get ove it!!!
It’s short but sweet and I hope you enjoy, anon~
Pairing: Chen Linong x OC/reader
Genre: fluff, soulmate!au
Word Count: 1.6k
Linong is a sweetheart, and even though you live in a world of predestined soulmates, you find yourself hoping it’s him.
Masterlist
Tumblr media
HE’S SO FUCKEN CUTE
“Hey, Linong!” you call, entering the bakery. You’ve spent a long day sewing for your mistress, but it’s all worth it when you’re finally free to spend the evening however you wish.
And today, just like most other days, you wish to see Linong, the resident baker’s son and your absolute best friend.
The baker’s son greets you with that mesmerizing smile of his, so bright it lights up the room. “Jiayi!”
The Chen bakery is your second home. Though you currently live with your mistress, you don’t really call her house a home. More like a workplace. However, the bakery is welcoming and cheery at all times of the day, so you find yourself in there whenever you aren’t busy.
You came to the city to get work as a seamstress, using your extensive skills at embroidery and sewing. The city is bustling and loud, and though you enjoy it, sometimes you miss the quietness and charm of your home village. That’s where the bakery comes in.
Linong’s parents came from your village and are long-distance friends with your parents. When you come over, you all speak in your hometown dialect, and Linong’s mother always cooks something with the village’s distinct flavors. The bakery sells so many things, but always among those goods are the traditional breads and sweets of your village.
And then there’s Linong.
You gaze at him affectionately, nibbling at a piece of bread as he busies himself with the next baking of sweets.
Oh, Linong.
He’s just one year older than you, already with his soulmate marking. It’s a tattoo that wraps halfway around his wrist in the shape of a wheat stalk, like half of a bracelet. Sometimes you find yourself hoping that you’re his soulmate, but you always do your best to push those thoughts away. Still, as you near your eighteenth birthday, you glance at your wrist more often, hoping you’ll have a tattoo that matches his.
Nongnong is a breath of fresh air after the hustle and bustle of the city. He’s fun, but a calm kind of fun, with his cheerful smile and bright eyes. He was born in the city, so he’s never seen your village, and whenever you come over he asks you to tell him stories of you and others so he can see the village through your eyes.
He’s sweet, clever, and always so kind, the exact traits that your hometown places so much value on. He doesn’t know it, but he’s the embodiment of what your village considers a perfect boy.
Linong, even though he’s never seen the village, is a taste of home.
“Is there something on my face?” he asks, dusting the flour off of his hands. You squeal a little at the cloud of white, ducking away as you laugh. “Well, a lot of flour, but that’s a given,” you reply.
Linong makes a face, sticking his tongue out at you. “I’m just kidding!” you laugh. “You just have a smudge here.” You reach over to his cheek, patting the place where the flour is.
A little red blush coats Linong’s face when you touch it, but you don’t notice, too busy chewing the piece of bread in your hand. “Is dinner ready?” you ask, oblivious.
Linong gives you a look. “You’re literally eating right now!” he accuses, pointing to the bread in your hand.
You swallow your mouthful, looking up at him innocently. “I’m not chewing, so I’m not eating,” you point out, dissolving into laughter when he just rolls his eyes. “Dinner is ready,” he finally admits. “I just needed to put the last of the bread away. Let’s go, I know how much you love Mom’s cooking.”
“I do!” you exclaim, rounding the counter to follow him up the stairs to where he and his family live. “It’s just like my mom’s. It reminds me of home.” You smile contentedly.
“She told me she’s going to cook something extra special for your birthday next week,” Linong says, gazing at your smiling face. He thinks you’re absolutely adorable, with those crinkled eyes and that smiling mouth, and his heart skips a beat.
Your smile just grows wider at the thought of something even better than her everyday cooking. “Wow! It’ll make up for the fact that I can’t go home this time around.” You pout a little, but you’re already resigned to it.
Linong smiles a little. Still, to divert your attention from unhappy thoughts, he asks you to tell him more about He Liu, your old village.
“You never tire of the same stories,” you laugh. “I’ll tell you at dinner. Promise!”
And you deliver on that promise, telling and retelling all the stories you can remember. As you laugh, Linong can’t help but smile softly when he sees just how happy you are.
You don’t know it, but he hopes just as much as you do that he’s your soulmate.
. . . . .
Your soulmate marking doesn’t appear until the exact time you were born on your birthday. Since you were born in the evening (you’ve already apologized to your mother), you have to wait the whole day to see your mark.
Sewing, sewing, and more sewing. Your mistress does gift you a small but beautiful hairpin for your birthday, but there is no avoiding work. Your usual hours apply, so you embroider and sew all day, finally putting the needle and thread down at six.
It’s your birthday, so you freshen yourself up a bit, washing your face and brushing your hair before walking to the bakery. Linong’s tidying up the shop with his father when you come in, and you simply admire the way Linong looks for a little bit before they notice you.
“Jiayi!” His father notices you first, putting down the broom to pull you into a big hug. “Happy birthday!”
You laugh, wrapping your arms around his broad chest. “Thank you, Uncle!” He finally lets you go, a large smile on his face, before leaving you with Linong.
“Happy birthday, Jiayi,” he says a little more quietly, giving you one of those soft smiles that make your heart flutter each time. You nervously smile back, glancing down at his wrist and at that wheat stalk tattoo. “Thanks, Nongnong,” you reply happily.
“Eighteen already,” he sighs, crossing his arms. You laugh. “You sound just like an old man,” you tease, watching him bristle in mock anger.
“I guess you don’t want your birthday present then,” he retorts, sticking out his tongue. “I take everything back!” you screech, eyes widening. “You’re not old! Not at all!”
Linong rolls his eyes teasingly, fishing a small package out of his pocket. “Don’t get too excited, now,” he says fondly, passing the gift to you. “It’s not nearly as fancy as that hairpin from your mistress.”
“I don’t care,” you say, carefully unwrapping the paper. “It’s a gift from you, and that means more to me than anything my mistress could give.”
Linong’s heart thumps loudly.
You carefully lift the object out of the paper, marveling at how it looks in the light. It’s a roughly carved wooden star, not quite symmetrical but smoothed to perfection. A thin ribbon threads through a small hole in the top, and you eagerly slip it over your head, beaming at Linong.
“I love it!” you exclaim, crushing the older boy in a hug. “Thank you, Linong!”
“Are you sure-” Linong wheezes, since your hold is a little too tight- “that you’re not just being nice?”
You let go of him, eyeing him with scowl, before punching his arm. “Who do you take me for, Linong?” you say, crossing your arms. “I wouldn’t lie to you!”
Linong laughs, tugging your arm. “I know, I was joking. Let’s go eat dinner now, alright?”
Dinner is lively, with loud laughter and easy conversation flowing between all the people around the table. The talking becomes more muted, however, as you near the time you were born.
The clock in the room shows 9:33 pm.
You swallow. “One minute,” you murmur nervously. Linong’s arm wraps around your shoulder, his touch calming your nerves.
The room is silent, all eyes fixated on you and you only. You nervously look between the clock and the table, gasping when the minute hand finally points at thirty four.
Immediately, a searing pain envelops your arm, forcing tears from your eyes as you clutch your wrist. Linong pulls you closer before yelping in pain himself, hand releasing your shoulder to grab his own wrist.
Finally the pain ebbs, and you wipe away the tears of pain, staring in awe at your mark.
A thin tattoo rings your wrist, half of it exactly the same as Linong’s- a stalk of wheat. However, the other half of the tattoo is what seems to be a needle, a piece of thread threaded through the eye. You glance at Linong’s tattoo, and a rush of joy runs through your heart.
His tattoo is now completed with a needle and thread, just the same as yours.
A loud laugh sounds from the other side of the table, and you and Linong jump, staring at his parents. “I knew it!” his father shouts, laughing with his wife. “We old people can really sense these things!”
Redness creeps up your cheeks and you hide them with your hands, smiling so wide your mouth is beginning to hurt. Linong just smiles at you, that sweet, soft smile that always had you melting at his feet, before pulling one hand down to entangle his fingers shyly with yours.

Whoops
Member: Chen Linong
Word Count: 605
Genre: drabble; pure fluff!!!!!; papa!nongnong
Tumblr media
kickstarted by a convo I had in a gc with @zhengtin where m shared this photo and tbh I have no idea what this is
A dreary, cold day cannot hinder Chen Yuyan’s energy. Already at three years old and three feet tall, her energy gathers from her feet, to her knees, to her belly, to her arms, to the everything in her face, before exploding out of her like a cannon ball whose fuse has finally reached the gunpowder at the end. She frequently knocks into and over things, and honestly thank god her parents covered all of the sharp corners in the house before she could even crawl, because, ow.
She shoots up onto the couch, almost pawing her head and torso up above the couch’s back to look through the window behind it. Seemingly from the grey sky floats a green leaf as vibrant as the shirt she’s wearing, though at the opposite end of the color scale. It sticks to the rain splattered window instead of sliding down like she thought it would, and she jumps up and down, clapping in delight, before scrunching her eyebrows and repeatedly tapping the leaf on the other side of the glass.
It does nothing, save for making a faint tinking sound whenever her nail hits the glass and a thud when her flesh does, and her fascination with the leaf quickly dissolves in an improv drumming session. She starts rapping on it with her knuckles when the front door opens.
“Baba?” she says, head turning quicker than a blink. After a footstep, she repeats, “Baba!” and propels herself off the couch, through the living room, into the foyer, and onto her father’s legs.
“Yuyuan,” Linong says, eyes disappearing in crescents to match his daughters’. “How was your day?”
She starts babbling about tangerines and rain and how you’re still sleeping but she left you when she woke up from your shared nap first and then slipped out of the bedroom, and Linong smiles fondly. She’s energetic, yes, but already incredibly independent, and he understands what his friends say about children growing up quickly.
“What’s this?” she asks, hitting the ring on his belt. “Why is your face shiny? Do you have me— mu— makeup?”
He picks her up and places her on his hip. “I had a rehearsal for my concert,” he tells her and she giggles.
“Concert!! Am I coming?”
“It’s not up to me,” he tells her, bopping her on her nose.
“Heng! I wanna come.”
He laughs, putting her back down onto the floor, patting the little pigtails sprouting from the sides of her head.
She starts pulling at the loops again, and Linong’s about to tell her to stop when suddenly his legs are free of fabric.
He bursts into mortified laughter, trying to cover his legs, and eternally grateful that he’s wearing boxers.
Yuyuan shrieks, cackling at him, effectively waking you up.
You come into the living room, groggy but scared because Yuyuan wasn’t next to you. That doesn’t last very long, as you, too, dissolve into peals of laughter seeing your husband on the floor, your daughter sitting on his head, and your husband’s pants draped over his legs.
“Help me up,” he moans, his pained smile still frozen on his face.
So you do. After taking a video of your daughter continuing to pull at his hair, press her thumbs into his cheeks, and make unintelligible noises and sending it to your parents and in-laws.
“What even happened?” you ask as you pull him up with your right hand, Yuyuan’s hand in your other one.
“My pants for the concert have metal rings,” he begins explaining, shaking his head, and you giggle. “She started pulling them, and everything just kinda went whoopsie.”

How Should It Be - Xiao Gui/Wang Linkai One Shot
[a/n: ah yes back at it again with another cringey one shot. i meant to post this on 5/20 but i couldn’t get my brain juices to work and finish it until tonight. i hope you guys like it. big reminder that i love wang linkai ❤️. sorry if the fic is a mess btw lol.] / master list
He sags down in his seat, visibly defeated by whatever was on his mind. A pout is prominent on his lips as his best friend cracks a smile, clapping him on the back before wrapping his arm around him, their bodies crashing together.
“Why the long face, Gui? Don’t you know that frowning gives you wrinkles?” he asks. If Linkai wasn’t so down in the dumps, he would’ve smacked the exaggerated frown right off of Chengcheng’s face right then.
Fan Chengcheng has never been the kind to just let Linkai live in his misery. Oh, no. Fan Chengcheng has to twist the knife after he stabs you. Sure, the guy’s quiet when you first meet him. But once you get to know him the way Linkai knows him, it’s a done deal. Your soul is his and there’s no getting rid of him.
“You saw my butthole once, Kai. We’re practically blood brothers now.”
Don’t ask. Linkai is begging.
“Nothing,” he shifts back into the ratty couch. He thinks for a second about how Xingjie is always babbling on and on about how he should replace it (as if Linkai has the money to replace this old hand-me-down couch. He’s a soundcloud rapper. How much does Xingjie even thinks he makes off of his beats?). Something about how just because it’s old, doesn’t mean it’s vintage. Linkai thinks that maybe the spring that pops out of the second cushion of the faded blue sofa may have caught Xingjie by surprise one too many times. That’s why Linkai always sits on the arm rest or lays like a starfish on the floor during movie nights. You’ll never catch him squished in the middle of Yanchen and Xingjie on their Thursday night Grey’s Anatomy marathons (per Yanchen’s request because how could one look at the actual sun and say no?).
He’s picking at the frayed edge of the sofa when Chengcheng says, “It doesn’t look like nothing.” He suddenly snaps, reaching into his pocket before pulling out a pair of his (nonprescription) glasses. He pushes them up on his nose then opens his phone to his notes. Linkai sees him type “WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH GUI TODAY” and watches him not only put it in bold print but italics as well. “I think we should start a diary of some sort. My sister has one of those and she says it’s all a part of a healthy life style. Wait, should we buy a Password Journal for you? Okay, wait Chengcheng. Too far off track. Let’s focus on the now.” He recomposes himself before saying, “First of all, do you know your rising sign? It could help explain a lot of things.”
Linkai thinks that there’s a reason for everything. He thinks that you never meet a person by mistake. But sometimes...he has to question his life mottos as Chengcheng waves his hand and tells him he’ll make his birth chart from scratch, all he needs is the time he was born (because Chengcheng’s already memorized that he was born on May 20, 1999 in the Fujian Province).
“Chengcheng, I promise on my mother that I won’t judge you. Just tell me if you were dropped on your head as a baby or not.“ He’s desperate at this point. There’s no way somebody just wakes up and makes the conscious decision to be Fan Chengcheng. Not any sane person, that is.
“Astrology is a very serious science, Gui and I will not stand for your bashing!” Chengcheng whines.
Likai gives him side eyes. “Didn’t you only get into astrology because Justin said you were a Gemini and he liked that?”
“No!” But the blush rising on his cheeks says otherwise. “Look. This isn’t about me! This is about you! What’s your deal?”
The older one shakes his head, throwing himself back against the couch and hoping that the weird stain to his left would manifest into a blackhole and swallow him hole. He crosses his arms and taps his shoe against the ground, eyes glued to the ceiling popcorn and wondering who the hell even thought that shit was cute. He starts to wonder how much he could pay Chengcheng to eat it when the doorbell rings.
“I’ll get it,” Chengcheng says. “I’m expecting a package!” As he gets up, he throws a cushion at his roommate before hopping away.
Linkai shuts his eyes, too exhausted to even fight back. Maybe it is his package. Maybe it’s Justin. Maybe they have another “date” in Chengcheng’s room (it’s not a real date if Justin doesn’t know it’s a date).
He’s about to drift to sleep when another cushion hits his chin, causing him to bite his tongue.
He’s on his feet and ready to throw hands when his eyes land on (a very pissed looking) you.
Honestly. He’s not surprised. You have this sour face all day and all night and it’s to the point where he’s starting to consider having Chengcheng put together your birth chart so that he can understand just that much more about you.
He crosses his arms. “And what is the problem today, princess?” he raises his eyebrows. He leans down, teasingly close, and wrinkles his nose. “I was just thinking about you.”
“Don’t look so stressed,” you scoff. He pokes your forehead, causing you to stumble back a couple of steps. “Hey!” you whine, rubbing the spot. He can just hear you screaming in your head about how he has dirty finger nails or how his hands are always so cold and boney. You huff. “You’re gonna give me a headache.”
“You give me a headache every time you walk into the room,” he shrugs, pulling back. He throws himself onto the couch again and hears the floor rattle beneath him. Another complaint that you’ll throw at him is how he and Chengcheng should just move out of this ratty old place. (“And go where exactly?” “I don’t know! Go live with Zhengting! I heard he needs a roommate!” “You want us to live with Zhu Zhengting? He’ll be on China’s Most Wanted after he kills me and Chengcheng.”) You roll your eyes instead. “But go on. What did your best friend Wang Linkai do to piss you off today?”
“We had a lunch date!” you stomp your foot.
“A lunch date?!” Chengcheng repeats as he exists the kitchen, choking on the piece of bread he had shoved into his mouth. “You two go on dates?!”
Linkai snorts. Ever since Chengcheng found out the story of how you and Linkai met, he’s been begging for you two to fall in love. (“You met in college when she dropped her books and you helped her pick them up? Fingers lingering, eyes glazing over. Love blooming like spring cherry blossom-“ “Chengcheng, shut the actual hell up. I only helped her out because I’m not an asshole.” “Not an asshole? Have you met you?”). Chengcheng says that he’s read a lot of fan fictions. He knows how this will turn out. Apparently, he’s taking bets alongside Chen Linong and Lin Yanjun as to when you two will finally get together. But jokes on them because you are denser than a book.
According to Chengcheng, it’s not your fault because apparently Linkai has terrible game. His idea of flirting with you is to flake on you half the time, watch you get riled up then pat your head and walk away after you get done ranting to him. Linkai doesn’t call that game. He calls that tolerance because some of this shit you put him through makes his head spin in circles. Plus, he’s got an image to uphold. Xiao Gui AKA.IMP cannot go around braiding flower crowns and singing to the birds like this is some kind of Disney film. He’s still trying to live down that time Xukun posted a picture of him coloring in a coloring book on his instagram story (Ziyi still sends him children’s coloring books every holiday since. Whether Linkai fills them out or not is his business and his business only).
He thinks today is going to be a bad day. He thinks it’ll be one of those days where the two of you will fight to no ends and there’s literally nothing he can do to make you feel better. He hates to admit it but he likes those kind of days because they always end with the two of you laying in his bed. Those are the nights he’ll hold you and wipes your tears, whispering a mantra of “Yes, I’m an idiot” and “I’m sorry, it’s my fault for not cherishing you.” He likes those nights because even though you get on his last nerves, he’ll be willing to admit defeat if that means he’ll get to wake up with you beside him.
“Honestly, Linkai. I don’t even know why I try with you sometimes,” you groan, setting down the bag of food in your hands onto the coffee table with one too many water stains. “Chengcheng, come join us for lunch.”
“Oh, I don’t wanna intrude on your date,” he says.
You smile at him. “It’s not an actual date.“
There’s a weird look on your face as you say that. It’s a look you get that Xiao Gui has never been able to read. Your smile is big but your eyes never seem to match. Your shoulders visibly sag and your movements slow for a second before you seem to realize what you’re doing and get back to being normal. “Come!”
“No,” Linkai plops down on the floor next to you. “He has a lab with Justin due at midnight tonight. He needs to leave.”
“Hm? You keep tabs on me?” Chengcheng has a shit eating grin on his face which quickly disappears as Linkai scoffs.
“No. You’re wearing cologne for once and don’t look oily. From just that, I know you’re going to meet Justin,” he says. “You usually smell like terrible B.O. and your hair looks dry. As for your project, you have it written on your calendar inside of a big red heart. I saw it when I went to steal the five bucks from your dresser earlier.” Chengcheng sputters, face red with embarrassment.
You swat Linkai’s shoulder. “Leave him alone,” you frown. “Don’t worry about him, Cheng. You always look and smell great to me!” you grin encouragingly before turning back to Linkai again to whisper yell. “He has a crush. Don’t tell me you’ve never gotten dressed up for somebody you liked.”
“Hey!” he says louder than you expected considering this was supposed to be a hushed conversation. “I’m wearing the jeans you said make my ass look fat,” he retorts. You simply roll your eyes before returning to Chengcheng. Once again, you’ve reminded not only Linkai but the world that you are denser than a book. He makes a face. “You expect me to read your mind and yet you never seem to be able to read mine,” he mutters under his breath, forcefully stabbing into his rice.
“What was that?” you turn back to him. He shakes his head, shoveling a load of food into his mouth to keep you from pressing. You thankfully don’t and once again, turn to Chengcheng. “I think you look amazing. Really. Go get him! He’ll be in your arms in no time!”
“Thanks, jiejie!” the dopey boy grins. “I’ll be on my way then. Be back tomorrow morning. Don’t have too much fun while I’m gone!” he winks. He’s out the door before Linkai can kill him (as if Linkai even had the energy to do so).
He’s too busy dissecting his meat to notice your cold stare. You have to clear your throat for him to look up and see your face. He groans, “What the hell did I do now?”
“You should be more supportive of Chengcheng.”
“More supportive? Any more supportive and I might as well just text Justin and say ‘Hey dinghead! Chengcheng is in love with you!’” he scoffs. “Honestly, it doesn’t get any more supportive than me.” He’s actually offended that you don’t think he’s all for Chengstin. Linkai is the vice president of the Chengstin fanclub, only coming second to You Zhangjing. “Who do you think always makes sure there’s ice cream in the fridge when Justin comes over? Who do you think hops off our shitty ass wifi when Justin comes to watches movies? Who the fuck ran across town just to fight with sneaker heads to get Justin the newest pair of shoes because Chengcheng was stuck in class? Have you ever had to fight a sneak head, YN? Have you?” His eyes are wild as if he’s seen some things he’d rather not talk about.
You sigh. “I just think you need to be nicer to him,” you shrug.
“Last week you told me not to let Chengcheng step all over me,” Linkai points his chopstick accusingly at you.
“Because you were deadass tired and up doing his laundry while he slept!” you exclaim.
Linkai snorts. You’re honestly a walking contradiction when it comes to him. “Just eat and be quiet. I’ve already got a headache. Don’t make my stomach upset too with all of your nonsense.”
“It’s not nonsense, Linkai!”
“If it’s coming from you, it is.” He shuts his foam to-go plate and stands to his feet before you could give him another earful. “I’m gonna go get a drink. Want anything? Water? A soda? A shot of vodka?”
“Ten more minutes with you makes the last option sound more appeasing than it should,” you pinch the bridge of your nose.
“Nobody is forcing you to be here,” he reminds you, patting your head as he walks away. When he returns, he’s made two pretty drinks and winks at you. Bottoms up, his eyes say.
“Really? Drinking on a Tuesday?” you scoff.
“Whether it’s a Tuesday afternoon or a Saturday night, you will always find a reason to complain,” he replies. You roll your eyes, taking a sip and feeling the alcohol burn down your throat. You grimace before setting it back down on the table. “So what do you wanna do now, hm? Watch a movie? Make me watch you online shop?”
“Maybe I could put make up on you and do your hair,” you suggest.
It’s his turn to roll his eyes. “You say that everyone elses’ boy friends do this for them and yet, I feel as though I’m the only one.”
“Boyfriend?” you repeat, completely disregarding anything else he had said.
“Boy. Space. Friends,” he says before leaning back onto his hands. “Why? Do you wanna remove the space in between us?” he wiggles his eyebrows before swooping in close to you, noses bumping. You freeze at this. “What?” he smirks when you don’t push him away like usual. “You actually thinking about kissing me this time?”
You scoff, shaking your head and moving away from him. “Wang Linkai,” you scoff again. “You really are something else. You know that? Kiss you? My best friend? I’d rather eat sand or-“ You stop, looking at him and seeing the way his eyes cast down for a second. “What?”
He looks back up. “Nothing,” he says before pulling himself to his feet again. He stretches his arms over his head and yawns. “Come. Let’s go shop. Or something. I don’t know.” He shakes his head and reaches for his drink. Maybe he shouldn’t have poured so much alcohol into his drink. One sip and he’s already a mess. “What?” He notices you still haven’t moved from your spot on the floor. “Hurry up and put on your jacket. Or do I have to so it for you?” He makes a swipe to grab your arm but you pull back, holding it against your chest. “YN, what?” he sighs, a bit annoyed. “Are you mad at what I just did? Look, I’m sorry. Let’s just-“
“Linkai,” you frown. “Why do you look so sad?”
“It’s nothing,” he replies, walking around and looking for his keys.
“It’s doesn’t seem like nothing to you.” Your words are careful, almost as if you’re trying to find the right wire to cut in order for the bomb not to explode. It’s always like that when the two of you argue this deeply. And sadly, it always ends with somebody crying.
“Because it’s never anything to you!” he throws a hand down dramatically. “So like. Let’s go because I’m not going to do this today!”
“Do what today?” you ask, standing to your feet. He shakes his head and makes it towards the door when you grab his arm. He instantly spins around and pins you against the wall, arms encasing you. You narrow your eyes at him. “What’s your deal?” you huff.
“It’s not even a bit obvious to you?” He’s smiling like a deviant. Like you’re just playing into one of his cold jokes. “Are you really that stupid?”
“What did I do to you?” you cross your arms.
“Everything,” he says, eyes casting downwards. You feel your heart starting to hammer as you realize he’s staring right at your lips. “You waltz into my life and make it absolute hell. You expect me to just know what’s on your mind. You expect me to just know what makes you happy and what makes you sad. You expect me to just know these things and I don’t and it makes me so tired and yet...” he laughs coldly. “And yet when I look at you, I want to be defeated. I want to fall at my knees at your mercy. It’s been like this since the day we met.” His hand slowly makes its way up to your cheek, cupping the glowy red flesh between his fingers. “C’mon, YN. How should it be? What do I have to do to make you like me as much as I like you?”
“Linkai, you idiot! If you liked me, you should’ve just told me!” you pout.
“And then you would’ve found something to complain about then as well,” he rolls his eyes. “Honestly, YN. Just lighten up with me sometimes. I’m trying.”
“You’re always trying,” you smile. “That’s what I like about you.”
“You wanna know a secret?” he asks, leaning in closely. “I only try his hard for you.”
And as his lips finally land on yours, you realize that this is exactly how it should have been all along.

MASTERLIST | College! AU | Nine Percent
This is a special masterlist for the College! AU series for Nine Percent.
-> Normal Masterlist <-  In case you wanted to go there and not come here.
There are multiple endings to it, with different endings are different storylines.
Think of it like Mystic Messenger or something, like, you get to choose your preferred route so the first 4 parts are like day 1 of Mystic Messenger, it’s constant, non-changing.
However, not every member gets their own ending. You Zhang Jing and Wang Lin Kai (Xiao Gui) won’t be getting their own happy/bad ending because I can’t figure out how to make one for either of them. They will still be mentioned as like, maybe a wingman or something tho.
With each happy ending, Y/N might have to break other members heart too. But I won’t be spoiling anything, you’re gonna have to read it to find out.
The endings have nothing to do with each other.
And if Y/N is already with one of the members, the others will back off automatically, that’s like, basic rules please, you don’t flirt with your bro’s girlfriend. If you do, sucks to be an asshole.
Please read the first 4 parts before choosing your preferred ending.
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
Endings : Cai Xu Kun
Fan Cheng Cheng
Latest Update : 19.04.2020 @ GMT+8 0504
