Announcing our next TWO picks for CrossingsCon Book Club! Our March read will be This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone. The book club meeting will be a week later than usual, on April 6 at 8 EST, to avoid any Easter weekend conflicts. Then on April 26, we're continuing the Queen's Thief series with The King of Attolia! Thanks for joining us, and happy reading!

man apologies to anyone who came to watch Tim's engagement video, i had no idea that literally 99% of a video titled TIMOTHY'S ENGAGEMENT was going to be random preachers yelling and Jill giving us the VonTrapp family history lmao.
The video Timothy had on his own YouTube is so much nicer and ok, I honestly completely buy into the Jill Hates Heidi conspiracy so much because when Jill made videos like that for her daughters, their engagements were the main event. Tim literally got 2 minutes in an hour and 20 minute video like wtf

My dad read Percy Jackson and Bartimaeus and Leviathan and Hunger Games alongside us so it's a shame my brother and I didn't read Animorphs as children because he would've read that too and I think it would've been an interesting shared touchstone to have as a family. Not necessarily a good one but an interesting one

This feels like an incredible reach but I’ve been dying for a halfway coherent way to rec this for ages, so - if you’ve read The Inheritance of Orquidea Divina and want a large cast of characters and more absolutely wild shit like plants growing from peoples bodies, mythic figures lurking around the edges of stories, people sprouting grasshoppers, and magic houses appearing from nowhere (or perhaps growing legs. Or maybe a volcano in Central Park instead) - you should read My Volcano. It’s literary, it’s speculative, it’s folklore, it’s climate fiction; the vibes are a little different but please read it and come yell at me.
Maybe you can explain the lemons.

sorry i rag on njpw a lot lol - overall i like the show a lot, they have more wrestlers that i like than hate, i prefer their tour concept over weekly tv episodes, i love the backstage commentary, i love their goofiness, their stables, but god it pisses me off that small choices in the booking can make me so upset, it just feels so easy to avoid these dumb decisions

Admitting to being a Disney adult on a public platform... the bravery.
B: But it's like one of those multi-industry companies that needs to do charity campaigns to distract from the big corporate wheeling and dealing that they do. KRISTEN: *fake coughs* Disney. LAETY: Great. Yeah, pretty much. B: *laughs* you said it, not me! KRISTEN: Well I can hate on Disney because I'm a Disney adult!

Fortnight of Books 2022: Day 3
Book you recommended most to others in 2021?
I recommended 84, Charing Cross Road every time a book rec opportunity came up on tumblr. It's so easy to recommend--it's short, hilarious, heartwarming, and it's all about books, so people who like to read are extremely likely to love it.
Book you most anticipated this year?
The Blackout Book Club by Amy Lynn Green. I was impressed by her style of Christian fiction that makes Christianity a part of real life instead of part of a glossy sanitized fantasy world, and though The Lines Between Us was mildly disappointing compared to her first book, I still finished it wanting nothing more than to read another of her books. I thought I'd have to wait until next year, then was shocked at the beginning of November to learn the release date was two weeks away. I was barely able to read anything for those two weeks because I only wanted to read that book. I borrowed it from Hoopla the evening before the release date, and I read it in about two days.
It lived up to my anticipation, with a very sensible perspective, good history, complex and sympathetic characters, and a very fun book club that feels like how actual people approach books, instead of the book-lover's ideal where every book is life-changing. I plan to continue hanging out with the book club by reading most, if not all, of the books that they read--Mrs. Miniver was already a winner.

I still can't fathom how Vic has had three love interests for over 50 years he has existed. He's so weird he should not be fucking.
LMAO? You're right, honestly. He is so weird. I think he's full of red flags, personally, and yet somehow people keep falling for his strange demeanor and weird behavior...... Maybe there's hope for us all.

The fact that Taylor is confortable in going to Harry in the middle of an award show to say hi, I think it speaks to how that relationship ended, they may not be friends anymore, but she doesn't mind that people know they talk, same with Joe Jonas, I think those are the two guys she's confortable with to do that... (And Taylor Lautner, but they're barely in the same place, although I love that his wife is such a fan ahah)
yeah! i also think it’s a real testament to just how popular and influential she is that both joe jonas and taylor lautner ended up marrying fans of hers
