About the Warships in Armored Core 6
Tumblr media
I'm basically repeating what I said on cohost here because I actually kind of love the designs of the PCA's ships in Armored Core 6.
Now much ink has been spilled about how they're "too weak" and "I wish they were harder :(" which is more just people saying they wish they had more setpiece levels like the STRIDER which, to be honest, same; I'd love that. But the warships are actually gigantic. They're like 300 meters long; comparable to a container ship or a carrier than a warship. But more importantly they have an exposed bridge and pretty rudimentary defenses uptop. The bulk of their defenses are all localized on the bottom. Lasers designed to scour the earth. A bay to deploy LCs and MTs, and a full wing of drones to keep you down. Some units even have railguns on their underside, some have missiles uptop to try and counter the weaknesses of the deck side of these warships, which to be fair, probably would have worked if the Karman Line level didn't give you infinite energy.
Arquebus doesn't really know how to handle these warships. Because they keep on throwing them at you as though they're traditional air-to-air war machines.
When you attack the PCA, they're either flying over the majority of your forces or their ships are outright docked.
Basically what I'm saying is these ships aren't designed for a fair fight. They fold like paper when they're faced with something that gets on the deck.
Because they're subjugation machines.
They are designed to bully a population into submission.
The PCA aren't a normal military force, they're fucking space cops.

I know it wasn’t the point of your recent Chosen post, but I’m curious what you identified as signs of power-creep 👀
I should clarify, when I said "signs" of power creep, I really mean like, the barest hints that are making me nervous. Episode V does a great job of juxtaposing the earth-shaking attacks of Chosen and Dark to give them a sense of scale, by showing how Second and the Color Gang are constantly blown away by the things these two demigods can do (and on that note, Chosen fans have it REALLY good compared to Color Gang fans when it comes to having your favorite characters meaningfully contribute to fights in the main series. It's like Piccolo fans vs. Yamcha fans). But there's still a few parts that irk me.
Chosen is constantly landing laser eyes on Dark throughout their fight, and Dark is always surviving because he blocks with his arms. Then he puts on the wristbands, and his first big demonstration of how much more powerful they make him is... tanking Chosen's laser eyes with his arms. I get that the difference is "being forced to defend himself" vs. "gliding down the attack to interrupt it with one of his own", but it still just felt weird. Part of it was probably the stylistic choice to change the laser eyes from causing massive explosions in 2 and 3 to actually just cutting and burning things in 5 and 6, which I think IS a good change that makes the laser eyes more distinct from his pyrokinesis, but it also means that they just don't feel like they have much meaningful impact anymore. The last time they did was when he sheared off one of ViraBot's limbs with them.
That's kind of the main thing - a lack of impact with a lot of Chosen's attacks. The Mercs are implied to either be tanky enough to survive his attacks or (in the case of Pivot) have some defensive options, but there's that one moment in particular where Chosen gets fired up and launches all three of the other Mercs off of him with a burst of fire... and that doesn't seem to hurt them at all. If you don't give these superpowers the impact they need on a regular basis to establish how destructive they are, it starts to feel like they're pointless; like he'd basically be doing the exact same thing by just punching and kicking with his super strength.
I saw someone claim that Chosen lost the fight against the Mercs because he's going through a moral crisis and wasn't trying to kill them, and I have to wonder if that person watched the same episode I did - if Chosen wasn't trying to kill the Mercs before he started fleeing, why the hell would he go and grab Second Coming explicitly because he remembers how ungodly powerful she was with her powers awakened? It feels like a poor excuse for Chosen just feeling too underpowered lately.
Sidenote: The Box is not an example of this. The Box is genius, displaying that Victim is so underpowered compared to Alan's other creations that he needs to be buffed ten times over and have his opponent reduced to about 1/10th of their own strength, and Chosen still gets the upper hand a few times because he's A) just that strong and B) far more experienced fighting people his own level than Victim is. Seeing how his pyrokinesis completely renders his clones helpless and incinerates them within seconds did a lot of good work towards re-establishing how dangerous Chosen is, not to mention how his ice-defense trick demonstrates how he's not the dumb brute a lot of the fandom thinks he is.
TL;DR: It's somewhat a symptom of Chosen losing so many fights, which really isn't even that valid of a criticism when we're only two parts in to the sixth installment. What bothers me the most is that he keeps fighting people who can seemingly just shrug off his powers, which makes his powers feel pointless.

^ Communications to the Vanguard; Letter from the Stranger [Elisabeth "Elsie" Bray]
-----------------------------------------------------
Destiny 2 [Bungie] | Beyond Light [Collector's Edition]
ACCESS: RESTRICTED/REDACTED DECRYPTION KEY: ekeriPC6N$ spoof REP #: 121-EUROPA-BAN AGENT(S): CHA-319 SUBJ: Review of interdict on Europa landings. ASSOCIATIONS: Active interdict; Awoken, military commitments of; Bray, Clovis; Bray Tech; cryohazard; Deep Stone Crypt; Enceladus; Golden Age; Io; Jovians; Nine; Titan, moon of Saturn; Vex
1. Prior to the Taken War, the Reef maintained an interdict upon the poorly navigable Jovian moons. That interdict has failed, allowing Guardians to begin (politely put) "reclaiming" these satellites. The sixth moon, however, still falls under Vanguard interdict. To borrow an old adage: "All these worlds are yours, except Europa. Attempt no bounties there." 2. I have been asked to review this interdict's continued necessity. My first impression is that its Europan files are so heavily redacted as to encourage the very expeditions they are presumably meant to deter. Have you ever tried to tell a Hunter that they can't go somewhere AND can't know why? 3. Europa's surface is hazardous. Intense radiation mangles both flesh and machinery. Peak temperature at the poles never climbs more than 50 degrees above absolute zero; the equator reaches a balmy 110 above. This moon was never T-formed and has no proper atmosphere. Tidal stress tortures and crackles the surface, leading to frequent cryovolcanism. There are many ways to die on Europa, but we are speaking of Guardians here. Risk of death alone cannot justify a no-landings edict.
4. The subcrustal ocean is two to three times the volume of Earth's. Life exists down there, but we have forgotten how to reach it. Rumors of some vague abyssal connection to Titan and Enceladus are unsubstantiated, and in this agent's opinion, probably nonsense. So long as Guardians do not take up sport hunting, protection of native life is not grounds for an edict. 5. A heavily armed platform of Golden Age origin keeps station over the moon. It maneuvers using either Hall-effect electrical thrust or some kind of anchor in the Jovian magnetosphere. Ordinarily this would be worth investigating, but the files suggest that the platform is a rare example of an active and unpredictably hostile Golden Age defense asset. Approach at your own risk. (Interesting note-some suggest that jumpships of the Eon series are not as rapidly engaged - this matches what we know of their designer. Jumpships are rare and valuable, so best to keep a safe distance.) 6. Recent close flybys have imaged a Golden Age compound bearing the Bray Tech insignia built in the Europan ice. The same imagery captures thousands, if not tens of thousands, of hibernating or destroyed Vex. Unlike all other Vex presences on Venus, Mars, Mercury, Io, or Nessus, there is no sign of major construction. This suggests a Vex strike force, rather than a permanent presence. What did they want? We have fought Vex before, and early aggression against their designs has always proven critical. Their simple presence cannot justify an interdict.
7. Through negotiation and horse-trading with her superiors, Awoken Paladin Kamala Rior provided me with a device capable of sundry high-physics measurements I will not detail. It reveals that Europa is saturated and interpenetrated with dark matter loops. This is a sign of the interest and attention of the Nine. Their power and influence depend on the mass of nearby stellar bodies, and Europa falls within the sphere of Jupiter-as mighty a gravitational gatherer as anything outside the Sun itself. But even in this bastion of the Nine, Europa is a focus of particularly intense observation. We have often speculated that Xûr is a construct made from the repossessed body of a Jovian colonist… but there are no known records of colonies on Europa. So what draws the Nine here? Unclear. Their interests are opaque. In any case, the gaze of the Nine is no reason to prohibit Europa- Guardians have gone much further into their influence before. 8. No known signs of Ahamkara or other ontopathic predators occur on Europa. Perhaps there are wishing-sharks in the abyssal deep, but that is purely my fancy. No grounds for interdict here. 9. Europa is a traditional stopover for Fallen raiders tanking up on reaction mass. Mithrax, VIP #3987, relays vague reports of a taboo no-go area around the Golden Age station. This prohibition apparently goes beyond fear of its weapons and could be related to the Vex. There is allegedly "something that cannot be stolen from." Tantalizing, but not grounds for interdict. 10. Many Exos have fragmented memories concerning ice sheets and Jupiter in the sky. Europa would be a logical origin for those memories, especially given the presence of Bray Tech assets. This seems to militate towards an investigation.
11.The instruments Paladin Rior provided are extremely unreliable in the vicinity of Europa. I cannot determine whether this is a result of poor construction, my own inexpert use, or the presence of something aberrant. 12. This is hardly a well-vetted piece of intelligence, but something about the imagery and lore I've collected gives me an extremely bad feeling. Something is wrong here. 13. In conclusion, I cannot find strong strategic reasons to maintain the interdict on Europa. We lifted the interdict on the Moon not five years ago, resulting in a series of strategic key victories and intelligence findings… but also triggering the arrival of Oryx, an event that gave Ghaul his Light-suppressing technology and ultimately led to the awakening of the lunar intruder. Perhaps Europa will prove as consequential? We cannot shrink from new discoveries simply because they may lead to new challenges. Victory, after all, requires escalation.
I recommend LIFTING THE INTERDICT. MESSAGE ENDS [Recommendation refused on grounds of compartmentalized information. Unable to share; please trust that your analysis has not been ignored or discarded out of hand. Regrets - IKO/0061]
----------------------------------------------------- Guardian- This is an artifact of Darkness, and now I entrust it to you. Do not take this charge lightly. I have seen firsthand what its power an do Guardians who wield it… even to you. Like all new ground, it can prove treacherous to walk. Listen to your Little Light, and remember that you will live with choices forever. it you. My grandfather came to Europa before the Collapse to seek immortality. He thought he was chosen to lead humanity to the future. His experiments to this end were… hideous. Despite my qualms, collaborated with him. I accept my responsibility in full; I would have, know everything. "O nymph, in your orisons, be all my sins remember'd." You, nymph, but the principle holds, yes? We must know what he did with the power you now grasp. I have included a hard copy of the logs I've deciphered so far. Reader beware. My grandfather was worse than you know. Your stranger I remain, E

dare not say that a man forgets sooner; i have loved none but you
The Dead on Main fanfic I promised. AO3 link here! First chapter is short.
(Edit 3/6/23 for clarity)
Chapter One: The Invite
Constantine knew that, on occasion, he had the seemingly-supernatural ability to get himself into some really, truly, utterly bonkers situations. Being a magician in the first place would be a good starting place, much less having effectively escaped death itself by selling his soul sixty ways to Sunday.
But this?
This was the shit frosting on the particularly radioactive, glowing-green shit cake.
Really, his day had been going pretty well before all of this happened. Comparatively. There hadn’t been any major crises or bullshit that he’d been dragged into, or forced to consult on. The only thing on his docket was the meeting at the Watchtower he was being “asked” to “advise” on, regarding a JLD matter that had the potential to need the daylight League. See, he knew it wasn’t necessary, but the damn Bat was so paranoid he’d jump at a shadow if it so much as flickered the wrong way, so.
Watchtower it was.
The meeting had progressed relatively normally, to his relief, but close to the end, right when he’d started considering actually lighting the cigarette that dangled between his teeth, right when he’d started properly zoning out… power zipped down his spine, shocking him into sitting straight up. Cold shot down his arms, gooseflesh rising at the sensation as he blinked, then cursed. Captain Marvel shot up as well, looking around like he’d been hit over the head with a pan.
Death magic.
“Get back from the table, you bloody-!” Before he could even finish the curse, a glowing green hole in goddamned reality ripped open in front of his eyes, hovering above the table. It hurt to look at, frankly, the sickly neon green turning to black to green to purple to white to green--
Augh, Jesus. He tore his eyes away before the not-fully-in-reality hole could melt his brain. “Don’t look at the damn thing,” he barked, shielding his eyes slightly with a hand.
“What is it,” Bats growled, every line in his posture screaming defense, tenseness, ready to fight.
“It’s-”
A sharp, comical, almost cartoonish pop hit their ears, once again cutting the Brit off as two envelopes fluttered to the meeting room table, the hole in reality just. Disappearing. There one second, gone the next before he could even process.
Constantine sighed heavily, taking a long, long swig from the flask tucked into his coat pocket before he examined the letter, noting the swirling black script addressed to him. Well, nothing really to lose, he noted, picking it up and breaking the seal quickly.
To John Constantine, Tenant of the House of Mystery, Master of the Arcane Arts, Deceiver of Death, and all other titles that he Lay Claim to;
His High Majesty of the Infinite Realms, of Purgatory, of the Underworld and all other names through History and Time, High King Daniel Phantom, Balance of Life and Death, Champion of All, Ancient of Space, requests your presence at the upcoming Samhain Ball.
Attire is black-tie, masks are optional, and weapons are restricted. All souls upon acceptance of this invitation shall be bound to an oath of peace for the duration of the Ball, which shall last one Earth day, twenty-four hours, or one rotation of the Planet Earth orbiting Sol in the Milky Way Galaxy.
Accommodations for all who request it shall be made in the King’s Keep in the Infinite Realms, with travel, food, and all other necessary needs provided.
The Samhain Ball is dated to October 31st, 20XX to the early morning of November 1st, 20XX.
Please either accept or decline this invitation by October 5th, 20XX so the appropriate accommodations can be arranged.
-Their Excellency, Ancient of Time, Former Consort of King Pariah Dark, Advisor to the King, Lord Clockwork of the Infinite Realms

Vasporan
Tumblr media
Image © Paizo Publishing, accessed at Archives of Nethys here
[Sponsored by Soluman Blevins, from Starfinder’s Alien Archive 4. Isn’t it adorable? I have a feeling that vasporans would be seen like bears and big cats are on Earth; as cute critters suitable for children’s toys that some people have a hard time remembering are actually dangerous apex predators. I know I want a vasporan plush.]
Vasporan CR 9 N Magical Beast This creature resembles a bipedal hedgehog the size of a polar bear, except that its body is a vivid blue color and its face ends in a cluster of tentacles instead of anything resembling a mammalian snout. Parts of its carapace seem to lift and separate from its muscles as it moves, and a patagium stretches between its short, stout limbs.
Vasporans are large carnivores native to wind-swept planets. They drift on their cuticles, constantly shedding parts of them to act as sails, buoyed by lighter-than-air gases that ooze from glands in the softer skin beneath. Despite their animal intellect, they are experts at reading the weather and adjusting to it, and often zip through skies during strong winds to attack animals that are sheltering from storms. They are remarkably stealthy for their size. Vasporans tend to be sky-colored, no matter the color of the sky on their planet, and their strikes are especially lethal to unaware targets.
The ability of a vasporan to molt quickly also serves a defensive purpose. These shed pieces of carapace act as temporary shields and as territorial markers. A vasporan does need to come to land in order to breed, and they prefer to sleep in cliffs or caves rather than on the wing (although they can do so if they must). The characteristic popping sound made by a shed carapace being stepped on acts as a warning mechanism for the resting vasporan.
Sages hypothesize that some vasporans, possibly mutants or exceptionally old individuals, develop the ability to store gases like a rebreather, and that their carapaces become extremely durable to changes in temperature. Such acclimations would allow the vasporan to escape planetary atmosphere, and then ride currents of gas between planets. This has never been directly observed, but it would explain how vasporans have spread from planet to planet, putting new peoples and new ecosystems in the line of fire of these dangerous predators.
A vasporan averages 11 feet long and weighs slightly more than 700 pounds.

It does not suffer penalties to Fly checks in areas of any wind weaker than hurricane force. Flash Molt (Ex) As an immediate action once every 1d4 rounds, a vasporan can molt its skin in response to a melee or ranged attack. It gains hardness 10 against that attack, and may take a 5 foot step if it chooses to. This step does not count against the vasporan’s movement on its next turn. Gaseous Flesh (Ex) If a vasporan is struck with a melee attack that deals fire damage, gases in its cuticle ignite, dealing 2d6 points of fire damage to the vasporan and to all creatures adjacent to it. All creatures, including the vasporan, take half damage if they succeed a DC 19 Reflex save. This save DC is Constitution based, and includes a -2 racial penalty. Spines (Ex) As an attack action, a vasporan can fire a cluster of needle-like spines at a single target. Treat this as a ranged attack with a thrown weapon and a range increment of 30 feet. A creature struck takes 4d4 points of damage plus the vasporan’s  Strength modifier.

Mamuta (Monster)
Tumblr media
(Mamuta Download by SAB64 on Deviantart)
(I love the mamuta, and I love how evil the captains are to them. They aren't aggressive at all, and even when you piss them off they don't even hurt pikmin! Just plant them! I interpreted them as benevolent fey- although they canonically lay eggs in the game- and kept them at their original size. I also incorporated the fact that these sweethearts have a tendency to get killed!)
CR2 NG Tiny Fey (Earth)
Mamuta are simple, kindhearted fey who tend to the undergrowth of forests, counting clovers, planting flowers, and choosing seedlings to care for until they become great trees. They treat all plant life with love and care, and even when incensed, choose only to quell plant enemies rather than kill them. A mamuta typically chooses a field or clearing about 60ft in diameter as its territory- such a clearing flourishes under its care.
Mamuta have an odd quirk- they are fascinated by rare magical and technological items, and often keep them somewhere on their person or buried in the soil. This, unfortunately, has led amateur treasure hunters to target them for their goods. Mamuta will fight with surprising strength for a creature so small, but still rarely win these conflicts against armed humanoids, leaving their small, delicate plants without a protector.
Mamuta are said to taste like chicken-of-the-woods, and it is believed by scholars of the natural world that they represent the symbiotic relationship between plants and fungi, as well as natural processes growing over and burying items left in the woods.
A NG spellcaster level 7 or higher with the Improved Familiar feat may take a mamuta as a familiar.
This small brown creature has a pair of long arms extending from its torso, and no head- only a pair of soulful eyes buried in its chest.

Happy Thanksgiving otherwise known as Drama with a Side of Turkey... if someone picks a fight with you about current events here is a very brief surface level list of talking points
According to Article 3 of the Geneva Convention and Article 6 of Additional Protocol II collective punishment is a war crime.
Israel Katz himself is quoted as saying "they [Gazans] will not receive a drop of water or a single battery until they leave the world."
Furthermore Article 51 of the Berlin Rules on Water Resources prohibits combatants (in this case the Israeli military from removing water infrastructure.
International Humanitarian Law prohibits any siege depriving civilians of essential goods while Yoav Gallant's "defense tactics" are a complete blockade of Gaza. It is well documented by the United Nations and journalists how deprived the civilians in Gaza are by the Israeli aggression.
The so-called gracious “evacuations” ordered by Israel is a crime according to the International Criminal Court under forcible transfer.
The use of white phosphorus violates Protocol III of the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons as the Israeli army is using it directly against human beings in a civilian setting.
Gaza is one of the most densely populated areas on earth with 47.3% of the population being under 18 there is no circumstance in which any incendiary weapon should be deployed in Gaza let alone community centers.
In case there is doubt, there are videos of white phosphorous being used in broad daylight and on hospitals (Al-Durrah Children's Hospital).
The air strikes themselves violate international law as Daniel Hagari himself has stated that the emphasis of the Israeli air strikes is on damage and not on accuracy.
The Israeli government has carried out air strikes on the Al-Shati refugee camp sheltering over 90,000 refugees from Israeli aggression.
Targeting commercial centers like the Jabalia camp market which has been attacked multiple times since October 7th is a war crime.
It is a war crime to target buildings dedicated to education or charitable purposes.
On October 17th Israel carried out an airstrike on the United Nations Relief and Works Agency school in the Al-Maghazi refugee camp. A United Nations school within a refugee camp.
Israeli officials later claimed United Nations workers are Hamas allies
Medical neutrality as described under the Geneva Convention has been violated as stated by the World Health Organization…
Every hospital bombed is another war crime Israel has committed. Bringing back the white phosphorus issue, Israel hit Al-Durrah Children's Hospital with white phosphorus munition. Bringing back water resources and collective punishment (which I hope we established was bad), the remaining hospitals are collapsing due to lack of electricity and water.
"But Hamas tunnels! Human shields! Guards! Weapons!" None of that negates a hospital's protected status as described in the Geneva Convention.
It is a war crime to attack buildings dedicated to religion regardless of who is housed but especially if its housing refugees... obviously... again its in the Geneva Convention.
The Church of Saint Porphyrius, the Al-Gharbi mosque, Yassin mosque, and Al-Sousi mosque have been directly attacked
The intentional targeting of journalists is a war crime according to the Council of Europe.
There are 31 journalists who have been killed along with their families being targeted.
On October 10th Israel bombed a residential building (war crime) which also contained journalist offices (war crime). You can take a pick of whether they were targeting civilians or journalists, either way it’s a war crime.
Killing surrendered civilians OR SURRENDERED COMBATANTS is again a war crime.
Israeli officials still have no comment on the video of IDF forces executing four unarmed Palestinian men kneeling on the ground (one of which was waving white clothing).
Videos have also surfaced of IDF soldiers violating international law by assaulting detainees and committing sexual humiliation.
Israel has expanded their attack to neighboring countries by carrying out air strikes in Lebanon, ready to fulfill their manifest destiny of Greater Israel.
Under the 1998 Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, Israeli settlement of Palestine is a war crime. Obviously that is beyond a lot of peoples willingness to comprehend so lets reiterate what is happening right now.
The average age of dead people in Gaza is 5.
More facts: Israel does not reflect the Jewish people or Jewish values they are a settler colonial state enacting apartheid and committing genocide. Conflating Israel with jewish people is anti-semetic. Evangelicals are the largest zionist group in the world because they are anti-semetic. AIPAC is the largest donor to politicians. Israel has systemically harmed holocaust survivors (1/3 of survivors in Israel are in poverty, they called them "soap bars", and said they were "inferior" as they were like "sheep to the slaughter"). Israel has violated Ethiopian Jewish woman's autonomy (Depo-Provera (contraceptive) every three months in Israeli clinics without their knowledge) and police brutality. Israel is a safe haven for pedophiles.

1. Mr Satan has a silver tongue and a heart of gold. He is so full of precious metals. Becasue he is precious 💛
2. Yes it's a rat-like thing to parade in there like hes gonna beat him up, and then just become his poopboy servantboy. But we can all see how the situation called for No Alternative.
3. BUT THE WORLD NEEDED A HERO ... and THAT'S the hero it needed..!! It couldnt have a hero who could take out Majin Buu. So the next best thing was someone who could tame Majin Buu. It looks snakelike becasue it is - BUT THAT'S THE HERO THAT THE WORLD NEEDED!!! He isnt doing it the way he said he would, but Mr Satan IS saving the world!!!
4. But here is what is so remarkable... Mr Satan has the softest most golden heart. He couldn't blow up Majin Buu and the dog. Detonating the dynamite would have done nothing of course, but he thought it would have done something, and he couldnt justify blowing up the scene. It's not right to hurt a puppy. And they looked so peaceful together. You could call him a coward, or say he has a weak constitution. But in the most dire of circumstance, he shined with the most courageous and valuable thing ... An inclination for peace and joy. He couldn't break that up. Two wrongs dont make a right.
5. Mr Satan isnt all cowardly. He has a list of shortcomings, and most of them come to rise when hes wrapped up in the vice of his cape - hes king Leo The Lion and he gets carried away. But he is still a just man. When those two random button-pushers came and shot the dog, Mr Satan went over there and took them out himself. He spat on the ground. "You make me sick." He knows the difference between a senseless fight and a just one. Violence will only solve what it wroughts, as in, it is useful only in defense. It's a crime against nature to abuse and kill; and it's a further crime against nature to not give that force its due push-back. Actions have consequences. Goodness isnt for those who cant be touched by its meaning. Attacking those guys was the only appropriate recourse, and Mr Satan knew that. He had just told Majin Buu to stop destroying, and he didnt see his own violence as a contradiction to that - becasue it wasnt.
6. MR SATAN IS THE BRAVEST MAN ON EARTH: he took a look at the beast who was responsible for the death of 80% of the world's population at this point, and he had the courage and strength to EXTEND UNDERSTANDING AND COMPASSION. Call it Stockholm, call it a desperation for hope, CALL IT IDIOCY, but just as well you can call it bravery. He saw how Buu had been misled by his creators, and he saw his potential for good, and he didnt shy away from that. It has horribly difficult moral implications, but Mr Satan didnt tie himself up in the feckless philosophy - he saw good and he stuck to that with conviction. End of story. That's all that matters. Mr Satan is the type of character who can be stubborn, regressive, and foolishly blind, but when the world needed him most, he answered to love.
Maybe hes shallow, or afraid, or cowardly, or delusional - but he's also exceptionally resilient to show up to this with empathy and a soft heart.
This is why he is the best dragon ball character ....

Martyr Masterpost
He said he’d die for his cause. But death would be easy compared to what awaits him…
Wraith was born for battle, and his calling found him early, when he took up arms against Earth’s invading soldiers. He’s left a trail of blood in his wake, and he has no regrets. He will sacrifice anything to protect the Martian rebellion—and the man he loves.
Isadora, the head of Earth’s brutal security forces on Mars, sacrificed every shred of humanity in her heart long ago. If she can destroy the rebellion, it will be worth the cost.
Now Wraith is handcuffed to a chair in Isadora’s interrogation room, with nothing but his razor-edged wit and his mask of arrogance between him and the annihilation of everything he holds dear.
Isadora plans to strip away every one of his defenses. He represents her chance to vindicate every sacrifice she’s made—because if she breaks him, she ends the rebellion.
But his fraying resistance hides more secrets than she knows. And what he’s holding back has the power to undo her.
---
Martyr is sci-fi interrogation whump (light on the tech, heavy on the war crimes), with a defiant whumpee, a cold female whumper, torture, emotional whump, and devastating personal realizations on both sides. This story is novel-length, and is complete at 30 chapters. Many of the chapters are whumper POV.
The story is best read in order, but  if you just want a quick whump fix and don’t necessarily need to understand what’s going on, might I suggest:  - Chapter 5 (interrogation, broken fingers)  - Chapter 14 (interrogation, forced to watch, non-fatal stabbing)  - Chapter 16 (forced to watch, fatal beating, begging)  - Chapter 19 (interrogation, forced to watch, hand stabbing)  - Chapter 24 (severe beating, out-of-control whumper)
Chapters
Chapter 1: The Rebel Leader Chapter 2: Sweet Victory Chapter 3: An Unexpected Challenge Chapter 4: Up Close and Personal Chapter 5: A Game of Control Chapter 6: Cold Chapter 7: The Temptation of Weakness Chapter 8: A Civil Conversation Chapter 9: True Believers Chapter 10: Playing His Part Chapter 11: Dangerous Respect Chapter 12: Lend Me a Prisoner Chapter 13: Making It Personal Chapter 14: Incentive Chapter 15: The Occasional Luxury Chapter 16: No Reason, No Mercy Chapter 17: Very Sensible Reasons Chapter 18: Now We're Getting Somewhere Chapter 19: The Truth This Time Chapter 20: Taxonomy of Love Chapter 21: There Always Comes A Moment Chapter 22: So Close Chapter 23: Laughter Chapter 24: Floating Chapter 25: Nothing Chapter 26: Gratitude and Dread Chapter 27: Almost Like Starting Over Chapter 28: Not Over Yet Chapter 29: Better Things to Die For Chapter 30: A Good Emptiness

does combine apc from half-life 2 count?
Well, it's got armor and it fights. So, sure.
The Combine APC
Tumblr media
A quick little armored truck to move the local forces of oppression from one place to another on post conquest Earth.
Now I can't really say what this is based on because I can't tell, It seems to be an almost wholly unique vehicle. That being said I am thinking a little bit of the Alvis Saracen.
The four wheeled chassis is a honestly basic choice for a vehicle of this type, with large tires that will help with crossing rough terrain. It's fast and maneuverable enough to get troops where they need to go.
It's got enough armor to protect it from small arms fire, but not enough to resist explosives, but at least it won't explode at the first grenade that rolls under it.
For self-defense has a heavy pulse-rifle and multipurpose guided missiles. Not too shabby.
There's this big dome thing in the middle which would give great visibility and not-so-great protection to whichever crew member sits there. In addition to that there are four periscopes in the troop compartment, and I'll just go ahead and assume that they're for firing ports in the rear of the truck.
I don't have any definitive numbers on crew put one or two are reasonable guesses, along with maybe five dismounts.
We've go a decent assortment of hooks, handles, and hatches in all the necessary places on the hull; along with some exposed suspension.
The APC can also be used as a mobile generator when parked.
FINAL SCORES
Credibility: 9/10 - Dangerously Credible
Coolness: 6/10 - Forest MultiCam
