Five Cards Whenever #42-46: Franchy Cordero, NL Average Leaders, Jesus Sanchez, Gerrit Cole, Jorge Alfaro

As opposed to Frenchy Bordagaray?
#43: NL Average Leaders
Average leaders? Sounds like an oxymoron. I want above average leaders. That’s why they’re “leaders.” BITD, all the leader cards came consecutively numbered: average, home runs, and RBI for batters; wins, strikeouts, and ERA for pitchers. More recently they’re haphazard in the way they numerically. (As an aside, I find…

𝗷𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗹𝗮𝘁𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹
When you asked him to teach you after this video
He got SO excited!
He grew up playing baseball, you could practically say he was a professional
Of course he'll teach you!
He texts you an address and a time and gets to work on buying you some gear
When you showed up in a- and this is the only way I can describe it- cosplay of a baseball player
You're so precious
He took out his phone, told you to smile, and it's his new phone wallpaper
You also bought a Yankees hat!
So-
What more could you do to make him fall in love with you?
He got started by gauging how good you were at batting and throwing, before polishing your skill!
He'd come up behind you and show you how to hold the bat, he actually struggled to do this cos you're a lot smaller than he is!
Showed you how his dad would help him break in his glove
Taught you how to throw properly
And after an hour of his teaching, you were pretty good at it!
Baseball kind of became your guys' thing after that.
He'd text you where to meet him, and no questions asked you'd up and leave whatever you were doing to go play!
Rarely would he ever bring friends to play with you guys, that was YOUR time, and when he did, he was begrudging and irritated about it.
You guys go to games together and he'll info dump about all the players
You're like the peanut gallery muppets when you go to games together
NOTE: He also holds your hand the entire time when you go to events like this, he says it's so you don't get lost or wander off without him but in actuality, he just wants to hold your hand. Touch starved things <3
You're throwing out terminology that's DEFINITELY wrong
He's working on getting you guys better seats with his *connections*
You guys just have a good time!
Strangely, he knows a lot of players on a first name basis?
"Nah, sweetheart, ya shouldn't buy that stupid souvenir."
You wanted to buy an extortionately priced ball with a player's signature on it
"I can getcha somethin' better, c'mon."
He leads you through the back hallways of the stadium, before you finally come across a changing room door.
"Schlatt! We can't be here!"
"It's fine, toots, c'mon!"
"No! This is sexual harassment!"
"Okay. You sit here, wait for me. If anyone tells ya to leave, you say you're with me, okay?"
He says, before entering the changing room.
You weigh up just leaving and acting like you got lost or waiting and possibly getting arrested.
But, before you can make a decision, Schlatt comes back out of the changing room with FIVE of the players. He's laughing and joking with them while you're STILL deciding if you should just LEAVE
Things like this don't happen to people like you!
"Toots, this is Oswaldo Cabrera, Franchy Cordero, Michael King, Austin Wells, and Carlos Rodón!"
By some miracle, you manage to get by without embarrassing yourself in front of these PROFESSIONAL baseball players.
Schlatt encourages you to pose with each of them for a picture before they all kindly sign a hat for you and even get the rest of the team to do so too.
Safe to say, you had the best day ever, and he's considering asking you out even more than ever now.
And, those pictures also made their way onto his slideshow wallpaper
