Am 14.10.2023 stand ich für euch auf dem 1.Fairen Markt, der in dem Park hinter dem Rathaus Lichtenberg stattfand.

Es war wunderbar.

Sehr viele nette Menschen, tolle Gespräche, viele Verkäufe und mutmaßliche neue Kundschaft. Ich hatte wirklich Spaß und könnte mir vorstellen es bald wieder zu machen. Vielleicht seht ihr mich ja bei dem ein oder anderen Weihnachtsmarkt.

HERNO SUSTAINABLE OUTERWEAR FOR SPRING

Italian outerwear company Herno Globe is launching three new collections for men this season with an emphasis on sustainability.

The Fast5Degradable hooded nylon bomber is made from 6.6 Amni Soul Eco polyamide yarn. The jacket can be disposed of in a landfill and completely degrade in only 5 years, as compared to 50 years for regular nylon, decomposing into organic matter and biogas. The jacket is padded with recycled polyester from plastic bottles. The jacket retails for $1,100. The Fast5Degradable hooded cape, with short sleeves and adjustable drawstrings, retails for $680, and a parka without padding retails for $1030.

The Herno Globe men’s hooded bomber ($1,010) is made from bio-based nylon, a completely renewable material derived from the castor-oil plant, a species that grows in dry, untended soil. The functional and lightweight fabric therefore has no impact on agricultural food crops in the agricultural field. A coordinating T-shirt made from GOTS-certified organic cotton, is piece-dyed using colorants that do not pollute the environment or release harmful substances and features an embroidered globe and slogan ($230).

Finally the Recycled Tweet jacket, featuring adjustable drawstrings, is made from recycled polyester that comes from two different yarns, both produced from post-consumer waste. The weft is derived from plastic bottles, and the warp from post-industrial textile waste and PET materials. Both productions require less energy consumption and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The characteristic print on the fabric is an ode to nature. Retail price is $920.

After the success with the i-cord edge around the neckline last week, my motivation to finish my Fiber Artist Sweater has returned. 🙌 #fiberArtistSweater In the past few days I knit two side panels and attached them to the sweater. I am very happy with how they look in between the cables. 😍 Next up are the sleeves and then I plan to finish the sweater with a rib at the bottom edge of the body. 💭LET’S TALK TEXTILE💭 What are your criteria when purchasing products (aside from your budget)? Organic? Free of toxic chemicals? Fair trade? If you’re a consumer who is constantly looking for those ethical, earth-friendly products, and does research on the matter, I know you’ve gone down the rabbit hole trying to get educated on all the different certifications.🤯💫 I’ll introduce one certification, one that is used for all major markets worldwide, in this post to help you look for products with transparency. 🔖GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)🔖 This is a textile processing standard, which is currently the only third-party certification, for organic fibers. The definition of ‘organic’ provided by GOTS is “natural fibers grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, insecticides, or herbicides and GMOs according to the principles of organic agriculture.” GOTS covers the whole textile supply chain: from processing to trading. The raw material, chemical finishes and labor standards within the supply chain are overseen by the officials. The standard provides transparency that allows the consumers to choose fully organic products, and it strives to fight greenwashing that has become prevalent recently. The two GOTS label grades: ① ’Organic’ - contains minimum of 95% organic fibers ② ‘Made with Organic Material’ - contains at least 70% organic fibers For farms that are in a process of converting from conventional ag to organic ag, label grade ‘Organic in Conversion’ is allowed only with the permission of production standard on where the fiber production is based.
