Sie kann aus Trikotage sein. Ein Shirt kann es sein. Das kann ein Gewand sein, auf dessen Vorderseite ein Bild auftaucht. Das ist dann meist in Brusthöhe, man spricht manchmal von einem Logo oder einem Emblem, man könnte es auch zu den Schildzeichen zählen, die in der notitia dignitatum, also auf antiken römischen Staatstafeln auftauchen und in der Literatur dazu digmata genannt werden. Das Wörtchen Emblem bezeichnet je nach Regung etwas Eingelegtes oder (wie der französische Verwaltungsrechtler Pierre Legendre mit seinem Pathos sagt) Eingeworfenes. Die Emblematik ist im Bereich der Bildgebung eine ballistische Technik. Im Lukasevangelium (12.5) zum Beispiel taucht das Wort embalein (Aorist) auf. Luther übersetzt die Passage so:

Ich will euch aber zeigen, vor welchem ihr euch fürchten sollt: Fürchtet euch vor dem, der, nachdem er getötet hat, auch Macht hat, zu werfen (embalein) in die Hölle. Ja, ich sage euch, vor dem fürchtet euch.

Hier wirft sich jemand in Schale. Das ist Olli in seinem Städtchen, er will in die Ukraine, kämpfen. Zweimal wurde er zurückgewiesen, also unternimmt er einen dritten Versuch. Jemand spricht von Menschenfassungen, und solche Trikotagen, wie Olli sie trägt, sind auch welche. Bei Olli taucht an der Brust das Bild einer spiralförmig aufgestellten Schlange auf, es wird von ihm mit Metallica assoziiert, bei denen gibt es ein Lied , das im Titel das Motto des Emblems trägt: Don't tread on me. So gehören Bild und Text (google it selber) zu einer Flagge, der sog. Gadsen-Flag, die in den letzten Jahren an heterogenen Stellen auftauchte. Das ist auf jeden Fall das Schildzeichen einer Bewegung. Bei Olli ist der Krieg privat, aber nicht vollständig privatisiert.

Ricardo Wiesinger hat das Bild im Abendlicht und mit langen Schatten aufgenommen, das hat er ikonographisch informiert zu einem kleinen Historienbild aufgeladen. Hier schwebt keine Tafel über Olli, nicht wie das bei Altdorfers Alexanderschlacht und in dessen Dämmerszene der Fall ist. Das Licht gibt dem Bild eine Wendung, es erinnert auch daran, das das größte Polobjekt auf Erden immer noch die Erde selbst ist. Ich frage mich, welche Tabellen, Täfelchen und Tafeln so dem Olli vorschweben, so idiosynkratisch werden sie vermutlich nicht sein. Er hat was gelesen und was gesehen und trotzdem wird er selber denken. Ich will nicht, dass das zynisch klingt, aber wenn man Botschaften über ein Polobjekt schickt, kommen sie nicht so an, wie sie abgeschickt werden. Olli wird für eine Sache kämpfen wollen, vielleicht auch für etwas Unbetretbares und für Freiheit. Er kann wollen, dass man in Zukunft nur noch für Sachen kämpft, nicht für Geld und nicht , weil man über den Tisch gezogen wurde.

eternal optimist syndrome got me always thinking better of mainstream christians. that deep down they’re good people, just that they’ve got some confusions they need to work through first, that they can change and be as full of love and compassion and kindness as they ought to be. then i hear a “praise and worship” song coming from my mother’s radio literally titled “don’t tread on me” and i’m made to realize again

Do you happen to know of any openly non-white and/or LGBT+ run or just non-chud run dog company that custom makes collar and harness patches?

I know that ONE company everyone swears by, but they sell thin blue line and red line and even GADSEN FLAG patches and are complete chuds because they are “law enforcement family” run and behave like it. Unfortunately, I’ve also seen a similar vibe from other places offering similar products.

I know that while they might do it, the last thing I’d wanna do is order a pride or trans flag patch, or god forbid an openly anti fascist one, from them and give them my money.

More commercial brands off the top of my head? No, mostly because patches are most often associated with tactical dog gear which does lean heavily towards those military/law enforcement types. Even if I skew searches towards service dog type patches, you will often find unsavory patches in their collections (such as puzzle peice autism patches).

What I would suggest: small artisans. they don't even have to be dog specific since velcro patches are popular away from dog centric gear. The only thing I would warn is it will be harder to find hooks and eyes/velcro patches that are from non-tactical shops as iron on/sew on tends to be the preference for clothing and fashion.

Paches OHoul is a LGBTQ+ owned shop that has patches (both iron on and hooks and eyes/velcro), pins, buttons etc. I've purchased pride pins from their shop before.

I also like Social Rebellion Patches

For anti fascism patches you're going to have to do a deeper dive, but I'd recommend punk centric shops. You'll have to decide for yourself if you feel comfortable supporting specific creators though because there are a wide variety of mind sets, even within leftist circles (for example a lot of shops that have patches I adore also are actively ARAs or are supportive of that mindset or actively promote violence against oppressors. You decide what you are comfortable with.)

@losech here on tumblr has an etsy shop where they make leashes and collars and has done custom work.

I unfortunately don't have a list of BIPOC owned dog supply companies, although they are certainly out there, I just cannot recommend items I have not tried myself and dog gear as an industry is overwhelmingly white.

Gadsen Flag

Gadsden flag, also called Hopkins flag or Don't Tread on Me flag, historical flag used by Commodore Esek Hopkins, the United States' first naval commander in chief, as his personal ensign during the American Revolution (1775-83). The flag features a coiled rattlesnake above the words "Don't Tread on Me" on a yellow background. "Join, or Die"

It had its origins in the Revolutionary War. The image came out of South Carolina, and symbolized the unity of the 13 colonies. Benjamin Franklin would later use it in his famous "Join or Die" image.

Schools don't even know the history of the US anymore. The Gadsen Flag has zero, zilch, nada, NOTHING to do with race or slavery. But this is what happens when you let a racist "journalist" who has a political agenda write rewrite the history books.
