Random Bella Sara Thoughts #3: Edana and Jikin are related

So I was looking through the Bella Sara horse pages and while looking through the water horses these two stuck out to me. Edana and Jikin. Both are water horses and Edana is a confirmed hot blood while Jikin is a potential one. Now for some reason it never struck me that Edana was a hot blood as she only visually appears that way in the Magical Friends series. I’m used to her Baby Bella and Royalty versions. Here’s some pics for reference.

Now, back to it. The reason I feel they’re related. Well, hot bloods are already pretty rare. And it’s even rarer to see two hot bloods (well one isn’t confirmed but I’m kinda assuming he is) with a type of horse that would clash with the hot blood element. A water horse. Plus idk they kinda look similar but that might just be the way they’re drawn/the pose. They post have warm colored manes with similar colors and both have front legs with a fish tail where their rear legs would be.

So getting down to it I feel like these two are related. But they’re not siblings. Maybe at most cousins? Though they could more distantly related but for the sake of simplicity I would say cousins. I like to think that one of their grandparents was a water horse and the other a hot blood. I’m not sure about their parents individually but at the very least the hot blood trait was passed down to these two. According to lore Edana burned so brightly that it was hard for others to be near her because she would become too hot. She gave some of her magic to the fire spoofs which helped her cool down. So I like to think that Edana had much stronger hot blood powers compared to Jikin. I like to think he has the ability to light himself up and create flames, but these flames aren’t super hot making the water around him nice and warm instead of boiling hot like how it used to be with Edana.

I feel they’re acquaintances. They like eachother but don’t have much of a bond leading to a more neutral relationship between the two. I think this can be used to explain why they’re not mentioned to know each other. They may have a stronger relationship if they were in the same herd. However, I like to think while they were both born into hers Islandar, Jikin left to join herd Eleymn. Considering he and Lien are close friends I wonder if he left to be closer with Lien. They however are not dating canonically. I like to think Jikin has a huge crush on Lien but is scared to tell her. He also has a fear that he might hurt her considering she’s made out of water and he is part hot blood.

Some lore of my AU Bella Sara

Inupiat & Anisibane are the king and the queen of my own herd, the Herd Dreamwalker. They have 5 "foals" :

1 - Thunder, He has the courage and determination of his father and the power and will of his mother. He doesn't see his family anymore.

2 - Lugh & Blossom, They're twins. Both inspire the serenity, wisdom and power of their parents.

3 - Starfighter, A fearless yearling, always full of stupid ideas. He loves bothering his father and fake fights with him.

4 - Akama, Young filly always with her mother. She is calm, but she likes to race with Starfighter too.

Other family on the herd : - Rauni (father), Osage (mother), Firefly (filly) - Memory (father), Urd (mother), Merrydancer (colt) - Mushu, Ninja, Shadow (, Shaman, Saga) are brothers and sisters - Brigid, Amphitrite and (Kona) are brother and sister, and Islandar's children - Anisinabe, (Rosamund), Mireldis, (Snowdreamer and Rosebriar) are sisters.

Pantheon's first mate was Rêverie, he build his herd with her and they had a foal, Tenebrae. But quikly, Rêverie her son left for another herd. Rêverie became Dreamwalker's mate. Pantheon, his brother Dreamwalker and Rêverie still get along very well together.

Bells was the first filly of Dreamwalker and Rêverie.

Dreamwalker, Pantheon and Elemyn are from the same family but we do not know who their parents are.

Settlements on the ground include Canter Downs (home to the region's largest stables), Canter Hollow (home to Bagatella Row and Artisan's Way, split by a river and connected by the Fountain Plaza), Rolandsgaard Outskirts (connecting Canter Hollow and the Castle), Rolandsgaard Castle, and Darkcomb Hedge

Settlements in the sky include Windhome Skylands floating over Naastrand Sound and Overgaard Skylands floating over the land. Airistos Castle sits on the largest island in Windhome Skylands.

Other man-made points of interest include Roland's Hold Arena, the Bazaar, Starguide Lighthouse, Stonelory, and the Bookends

The main freshwaterway of Trail's End is Frostfroth Falls, birthing Lake Riddlemere, which runs into Fastalon River and ends in Fastalon Drift. The second freshwaterway is the Comb Stream running into the Fastalon West River and. South of Trail's End lies Naastrand Sound, connecting to Stonelory via Horseshoe Bay.

Midwinter Mountains

Home of Herd Valeryk

Settlements include Valeryk Castle on an island in Lake Riddlemere and Hestheim floating over Thunder's Peak

Other points of interest include the Whitemantle Mountains, with the highest peak in North of North, Mount Whitemantle, and Thunder's Peak, a volcanic crater in the center of the Midwinter Mountains.

The waters of the Midwinter Mountains include Lake Wintermere, running into Whitemantle Glacier, which ends in Icewater Bay, connecting to Naastrand Sound.

Ochre Mountains

Frequent (though not permanent) home of Herd Mustang and Wildscape Castle

Runs into grassland to the west and desert on the east

Eastern part turns into the Pinto Mesas in which sits the Valley of Legends

Bordered by the Hope River to the west

Autumn Sands Desert

Home of Herd Shahazar and Shahazar Castle

The sand changes color with the seasons, white in winter, green in spring, blue in summer, and red in autumn

Home to various human settlements, including those of the Desirée, a group of wolf-taming horse-hunters

Bordered by the Hope River to the east. Only other major source of water is the Aria Oasis

Forbidden

A stallion, darker than the coming night, and a mare, more fiery than the sun dwindling on the horizon, make their way down the beach, hoof prints highlighted by the rising moon. Their bodies sway like boats on an ocean, and their glossy coats shine like ripples on the water. Poetic. And, unbeknownst to all, tragic.

Fiona and Thunder have been the best of friends since they were foals, but the two of them have long kept a secret - one of that friendship once having been something more.

Fiona exhales, nickering at Thunder. She plucks a stray burr out of his mane with her teeth as she says, “Our daughter is getting married, Thunder.”

He nods, looking at her expectantly with one of his gentle eyes, waiting for her to say more - because she always says more.

She says, “I just wish she could have her father walk her down the aisle.” Her soft brown eyes for once don’t look piercing, tears sitting on their rims, and they almost melt Thunder’s icy heart. The effect she has on him is the exact reason he’s spent years hardening it. She’s his only weakness, and if anyone knew - it takes everything in him not to shudder at the thought.

“You know why we can’t.” Thunder says softly, but even when he’s quiet his words are weighty. The two of them share the same vision - scenes of the aftermath of Feral’s attack on Rolandsgaard Castle, their friends’ bodies scattered on the ground, blood splattered everywhere. Some of the fiercest warriors in North of North, literally torn apart. Red. Red. The walls are red. The orchids, planted by Sigga herself, are drowning in red. Valeryk’s pale coat, shredded and red. Airistos, nothing but stained feathers. Red-stained feathers. Islandar, body slumped in a fountain, only fronds of their tail visible. In a fountain of nothing but red-

“Thunder!” Fiona whinnies, pulling him out of it. He shakes his head, black mane of curls waving back and forth with him. They all have hidden battle scars. His just so happen to be flashbacks. “I’m sorry. I just can’t put you at risk. Not when they died because they were in love.”

“They died for their love. Why can’t we live for ours?” Fiona says with a stamp of her hoof, tendrils of flame flowing out from under her. “I’m a fair judge of what I’m willing to put myself at risk for. Why can’t we be a family?”

“Because!” Thunder neighs, his voice booming like a clap of thunder, lightning cracking in the sky. “What happens when I lose you?” A tear slips from his eye, the first tear he’s shed since being chosen as a Patron. “I already lost you once, and my daughter with you. If we’d never been made Patrons, we could have had a family. But now, after all this time? We could be separated like Sigga and Prince Archer, or if our love is even allowed by the Alfather, you could still be killed by Ivenna, or Feral, or some other enemy of North of North. If you lose me, you at least have a daughter to mourn with. If I lose you I can’t even suffer together with my daughter. If I sound selfish, it’s because I am.”

“Where is your courage, Thunder?” Fiona pleads, the pain on her face clear. “I’m supposed to be a hero, and my own daughter sees me as a villain, because I can’t tell her anything about her father. She thinks I just won’t. If the choice were mine, she would know everything about him. But it’s not. It’s why I spend my life trying to save others, and even then, I’m worried that it will never make up for failing my daughter on the most basic level. Nothing I can ever do, no heroic deed, will ever add up to the pain I cause her every day, keeping your secret.”

“Courage can’t exist without fear, Fiona. The very reason I have courage, is because I’m so scared, every day. I love you, the mare who would have been my wife, had things gone my way. I love our daughter, even if I can never touch her. I love…” He pauses to nuzzle Fiona, and she whickers in response. “I love the way I see myself in her, and I love that I see you in her, but most of all, I love that she is her own being. My courage means not putting either of you in any more danger than I have to. It means spending my days wanting for something I know I can never really have. It means fighting with my entire life to protect North of North, and the two of you with it. It means, if it has to, that I might one day lay down my life for this world, or just for the two of you.” He steps away, walking back toward Rolandsgaard. Fiona tilts her head, confused as to why he’s leaving. “It means focusing on my duty, even if my heart is with you and our foal. You must understand, if I knew how everything would turn out, I would think the same way as you do. But the reality is I don’t know what will happen, and if there’s even a fraction of a chance that harm of any kind could come to either of you, then I can’t do it.”

“We could do it together!” Fiona calls after Thunder when he turns around, and he turns his head to look at her with one eye, the usual coldness having returned to his gaze.

“No, we can’t.” Thunder leaves Fiona alone on the beach, and he’s glad when she doesn’t follow him or argue anymore… because he knows he would’ve given in if she did.

Just remembered I made this a while ago - environment headcanons for Starlight Territory!

What is canon: The Starlight territory does not have defined borders because Herd Starlight is one of the Lost Herds, and thus has been hidden for decades, if not centuries.

The Northwestern waters are part of the Withers Sea, which stretches around NoN, starting at the northernmost part of Islandar, going past the Moonfairy, Shahazar, Pantheon, and Wolf Rider territories, and ending at Starlight. To the West and South is the Sea of Lights, which stretches from Starlight to the southernmost part of Islandar territory, going past Airistos and Sunflower territories.

The woodland covering Starlight Territory is known as the Brighttree Jungle. The mountain range way out East is the High Pass, which separates the Starlight and Bellasara territories. The mountains to the West are the Daybreak Mountains whose tallest peak (on which Dawnstar Castle stands) is called is called Starlight's Bell.

Number 19 on the map is the Coral Causeway, which connects Trails End to the Brighttree Jungle, crossing over the Fastalon River and under the Goddess Wall and Worldtree Mesa.

To the North, where the jungles end, the Wolf Rider territory begins.

My headcanon: Since the Daybreak Mountains are always covered in snow I like to imagine the jungle getting more and more temperate the further West you go, ending up being a temperate rainforest that often gets snow (1, 2, 3, 4).

I interpret the shore as basalt columns (6, 7) which become white cliffs to the North (5), before becoming a rocky temperate forest (24). To the south the basalt columns turn into subtropical rocky shores (8, 9)before becoming sandy and tropical (10). As you move towards Bellasara territory the ground becomes less rocky and more fine and clay-like and the humidity and temperatures rise, turning the landscape into a mangrove (12) and swamp (13) by the shore.

Further inland the swamp water flows into slow canals (14). As you move towards the High Pass, rocks from the mountains have made the ground more solid and uneven, sometimes letting the streams form waterfalls (18).

On the western side of the river, the ground is more rocky which allows clear bright pools to form (16). The humidity is also less extreme here.

Way North the leafy greens of the jungle intermingle with conifers before thinning out and being replaced by plains.
