Horses: Inupiat

Inupiat is an adult male unicorn. He is officially part of herd Mustang. His animal friend is a polar bear. Inupiat was created by Jennifer L. Meyer.

Inupiat is a pure black stallion. His coat, hooves, mane, tail, and horn are entirely black. He has a long mane and tail with a long horn and feathering around his hooves. Part of his tail is bound by a brown/grey strap and he wears a brown harness around his neck with white feathering and beads.

Inupiat is named after the Inuit people, a tribe found in Northwest Alaska and the Bearing Strait. The name “Inuit” means “real people”.

Like most others Inupiat’s stable art follows the original art well even having a slight green shade on parts of him despite the fact under different lighting this shade would not appear. Inupiat had a regular stable which uses the Native Lights card art for the portrait.

Inupiat makes 2 appearances in the card series. He appears in Native Lights as a promo card in the North American release and as a base set card in the International release. Inupiat appears again in the Best of Bella Sara series using the same card art.

Opinions: Inupiat makes the top 10 as one of my favorite horses. Jennifer L. Meyer makes such gorgeous horses especially unicorns. His beautiful figure coupled with the pure black is amazing. Pure unicorns are already not super common in the Bella Sara world so Inupiat being the only pure black makes him even more special.

Headcannons:

- Like the rest of hers Mustang he does not stay in one area.

- He however typically sticks to colder areas.

- He loves to travel around and help people always reassuring them that they are strong.

- He is huge

- He himself is very strong both physically and spiritually as well as magically.

- He has been invited to herd Bellasara but declined to stay with Mustang.

- His magic can summon the spirit of a polar bear and can even control the lights in the sky

- He is well known throughout all of North of North

- Some consider him a myth for how quickly he appears and disappears.

Herd Mustang is definitely one of the more unique ones having no hierarchy and claiming no territory. I think it’s cool how they’re all part of a herd but don’t feel the need to constantly stick together and are able to follow their own path. I like the themes and values of this herd.

Personality

Gen is the unquestionable lead mare and mother figure at Sugar Skull; she has a tendency to take other horses and foals under her wing. But don't let that fool you, Gen can be downright awful at times, especially if she doesn't like you. In which case you will be given a bite and, should it break skin, you will need to be rushed to the hospital right away. The more she dislikes you, the more likely you are to end up [REDACTED]. On the other hand, if she likes you, she is great at keeping you well and will prevent you from getting [REDACTED]. If she is happy, the entire stable will thrive and remain healthy. That said, the opposite will cause mass devastation to the stables. Luckily, this mare is pretty content with her surroundings and is pretty easy going. When it comes to her riders, she pays close attention to their commands and will do as she is told. The best way to upset her is to be unfair with a harsh hand. And she will not forget it. She stands and grooms well but she gets a little nervous around baths. She's great for the farrier, but she's not very fond of the vet, especially when needles are involved (and they almost always are). Muzzles, in this case, are your best option. With strangers, she's wary and will give you a day to figure out if she likes you or not. From then, it's difficult to change her perspective on this person, especially if they've done her an injustice. In the herd, she is the leader and any horse she dislikes MUST be kept away from her for their own safety. Luckily, she isn't one to jump fences for fights and seems to like staying out of trouble in this case. Foals of any type or from any mare can bond with her instantly. It's new horses that are a problem. Gen seems to like crunch treats, especially red candies.

History

Not much is known about Gen; she was purchased from Shadowed Moon Stables when the old owner decided to sell the estate and horses. She's exchanged a few hands, including a male who owned the mare for a few months before he was reported dead from a rare illness. She was purchased by Sugar Skull Stables and has remained there with two of her foals. She remains content and healthy and the barn is thriving exceptionally well.
