The muse list and rules are both being rewritten. Some muses are being dropped, some are being added, and the rules are having minimal changes, but things are still changing.

90% of drafts and memes will be dropped. I am going to strap in to writing today, and whatever is not posted or queued today will be dropped. I need a fresh, or at least semi-fresh, start to get things going again.

I will not do starter calls moving forward, unless they are one-liners, but I will continue to try and post open starters. I know that I have posted starter calls that have received plenty of traffic and then never posted starters - I am often just unable to think of something on the spot, so this will help me moving forward not promise things that I cannot deliver on. I apologize for this being a pattern in the past.

Memes will be replied (or queued) the same day they are posted, in order to keep up and not fall so drastically behind again. If they are not replied/queued that day, they will be deleted from the inbox. I am going to empty the inbox at least once a week, if not daily.

There is a chance that, later today, I do decide on an entirely fresh start, in which I will make a second announcement and launch a new blog. If that is the case, I will always greatly reduce my following list, because I do follow simply too many people that have shown absolutely zero interest in every writing with me. In that case, the same things as above will apply - I will reply to things as they come in when I am able more often, rather than hoarding things and trying to binge-reply.

If you read this much, thank you. I know my activity has been grossly sporadic lately. I won't go into the nitty gritty of how terrible my life has been (despite my appearance on this and other social media platforms, where I put up a surprisingly good front), but it has been absolutely fucking miserable. I miss writing as an outlet and a fun hobby, and whenever I was signing on here to write and have fun, the 300+ things between the inbox and drafts got me incredibly overwhelmed to the point of just shutting my laptop and crying honestly. This isn't something that should cause that kind of reaction, and so I've spent some time ruminating on everything for the past couple of weeks, trying to come up with a solution that doesn't totally fuck over my RP partners, who have been endlessly patient with me, or cause me to have a panic attack over a hobby. Hey besties, as you have likely noticed-—I haven't really been active. Truth be told, I had a pretty bad depressive low followed by some really bad burn out that left me unable to do anything more than a few scattered short things here and there and even those took a lot of like energy to push myself to do. I've been in a very frustrated and restless place with my blog in the aftermath of this.

My drafts are stressing me out. Knowing that I owe shit and can't remember with who or where we were in the thread is stressing me out and kind of hindering any attempts at coming back and trying to be active again. Coupled with the typic Tumblr RPC thing of more or less having to rebuild your blog engagement from the ground up again after taking more than a few days off is very energy-consuming.

With that being said, I want to come back and be active and consistent again. I refuse to give up on this hobby and I love my little bastard man still. However, I think I'm going to have to make some significant changes going forward to make that happen.

DRAFTS.

Unless we have a multi-note and plotted thread going, assume they have been dropped. It's just too much to try and track everything down and remember where I was going with a lighter thread months ago or whatever when I was replying to it initially. It's making me freeze up and so nothing is getting done. Following this post, I'm going to be working on fully culling my drafts and likes of any threads I owe.

ASK MEMES.

I am going to be leaning on these heavily. Not much is changing here as this is my usual. I just will likely not be posting any more starter calls or attempting plotting calls or liking them. I'm going to be 99.9% ask meme interaction orientated. Any plotted or long form shit is going to be naturally pursued when I'm interested or have ideas instead of trying to force myself for the sake of it or because I feel expected to as I have in the past.

NEW THREADS.

Here is where I'm going to lose some of you. I'm going to be a burst RPer more than I have been in the past. That means I am going to be relying on shorter note interactions that may get dropped pretty quickly. I'm going to rely on no pressure threads that we can just mention and build off of in new interactions. A quick but gradual development through shorter lifespan threads, if you will. Sort of like climbing a lot of stairs to a certain point of development instead of trying to climb one giant mountain of a single heavy plotted thread at a time.

Does this mean I'm not going to do ANY plotted point A to point B threads? Nah. I'm just going to be very, very selective with them and I'm going to need both of us to be at the same level of passion, ig. Plotted shit and long term shit takes A LOT for me to keep going and so I need both of us to be 100% interested in the story and each other's characters, etc. I think, at this time, I only have 2-3 of those threads/storylines active.

NEW FOLLOWERS, NEW INTERACTIONS.

I'm not going to close myself off completely to following new people or taking on new followers...but I am done more or less screaming at walls or low key begging people to stop being anxious or intimidated and interact with me. I'm mega anxious myself but I do the bare minimum of being the first to send a meme, to like interaction calls, etc. If I am doing this and being the one to make the first step and I still don't receive any sort of energy returned...I'm dipping. I don't have the time or patience anymore to play chicken with people or to coax them into threading with me and I've caused myself plenty of issues in the past by trying to stick it out in the hopes things change.

IN SUMMARY

I know this portrays me as that dreaded flake RPer who starts shit and never finishes anything. I am hoping dearly that building off these unfinished threads will compensate for that lack of long form threading. I am aware this is going to not track with some of you as it's not an RPing format that is compatible with everyone and I accept that and I totally get it if some of you stop reaching out or unfollow or whatever. However, I'm going to be doing what I need to do in order to actually BE here. I'd rather be a tad bit of a flake but still get something done and enjoy this hobby somewhat instead of just sitting here frozen and getting nothing done because I don't want to be seen as a flake or dissuade people from interacting with me further.

So you may have noticed a big drop in activity as of late! I'm still very much interested in this blog and BG3 as a whole but I do think I may have developed too much of a backlog with my 50+ Drafts. The drop has been for a few reasons, the major one being some life changes that took place not too long ago that I've been coping with and moving past from—still, I do apologise for how slow everything has become and want to change that as well! Therefore, I'm going to do the following: I'm going to change how I keep track of incoming asks and threads and whatnot personally but I will also be doing a cleanse of my drafts, primarily meme asks, and be more stringent on which memes I post and also note when I am accepting or no longer accepting them. Basically, trying to make sure my overexcitement also doesn't overwhelm me again ^^;. sorry if this is a bad question for ur blog but do you happen to have any good recs for how to learn magic the gathering? it looks cool but also i have no idea where to start

sure i mean definitely the number one thing u need is someone to play with, ideally someone that already knows the game. if this is offline then if they already have decks u could borrow one of theirs, otherwise u could get an mtg starter set which i think comes with 2 decks for pretty cheap! if its online thats great because u have literally every card at your disposal assuming youre playing in a commander sim against your friends! our playgroup uses tabletop simulator which works GREAT but theres a 20$ buy in to the application (its worth it. plus you can import 3d models during the game and play other tabletop games there too. its a good app to have on hand) alternatively ive heard things about cockatrice for free but i have no experience. commander is the format that everyone loves to play and build casually where you pick a main guy and build around him but i know theres plenty of people who will swear to you that limited (the draft and sealed formats) are the way to go and youll see a lot of them play with custom "cubes" (custom-built limited draft formats with around 360-720+ cards) and the traditional 60-card formats are alive and well especially on mtg arena! if u have homies that want to play commander or cube id recommend giving it a shot with them! theyll probably have decks theyre happy to let you play with and itll be a lot of fun. if you dont have anyone to play with and you dont want to find people to play with you my recommendation is to sign up for mtg arena where you can matchmake for draft formats, standard, and historic brawl; unfortunately its a profit app run by wotc so you dont have every card to play with and you have to earn enough ingame currency to draft but its still a good environment that plenty of people love. otherwise my advice is just to build some decks! i have probably over 25 commander decks now that ive just been building nonstop since i picked up the format 6 or so months ago. its incredibly satisfying and i promise youll get the hang of it quick :)

Oops, forgot to post my early review of Violet

I found this just chilling in the drafts of my main blog, so I'm gonna post my initial review of Pokémon Violet here, then follow up on it with thoughts now that I'm on my seventh playthrough (sixth Nuzlocke, third Hardcore Nuzlocke).

When I was in the midst of catching Pokémon and progressing the story of Violet, it hit me that I was having some of the most fun I’ve ever had playing Pokémon. The fact that the game runs so abysmally is all the more tragic because other than that, I’m tempted to say this is one of the best games in the franchise. I grew up on Platinum, and White/White 2 are my overall favorites, but Violet is creeping real close. Performance aside, I think the biggest weakness is one that most open world games suffer from—a fragmented story. It’s eerily similar to Breath of the Wild in that sense. The story that’s there is really good, but the world design leads to a loose execution. Compared to Skyward Sword and Pokémon Gen 5, which are suffocatingly linear but deliver a tightly executed story that hits all the right beats at all the right points.

That’s the crazy thing about Violet, too. The story isn’t just good because of the characterizations and themes. The dialogue is just straight up good. It feels like you’re talking to real people and not video game npcs, or at least the most like it we’ve gotten in Pokémon. The localization was clearly done by people who are young and/or in touch. There are so many little gems. A gym leader who is a streamer and tells her audience to smash the subscribe button? The earnest but out of touch school headmaster asking you what “cheugy” means? It’s so good.

I’m surprised with how well the three-prong story fits and comes all together in the end. The gym challenge in your standard Pokémon romp and is fun but honestly the least interesting of the three. Arven and Team Star’s stories are genuinely well-written and touching. They both start kind of weird and forced, but they grew on me really fast.

Alright, and the music is fucking fantastic. Pokémon has always had great music. That’s probably the coldest take in this post. But there are some serious hits in this score. The East Province themes, Team Star themes, and very spoiler-heavy, late-game songs are so, so good. They made a great choice bringing Toby Fox in for more tracks.

In terms of the game design though, I’m a huge fan. Terastylizing is probably the most interesting battle gimmick since double battles introduced in Gen 3. The regional Pokédex is a nice balance of mons from every generation and sits at a very respectable number of 400 Pokémon. I just caught myself a whole living dex up thru Gen 6, so for this playthrough I chose to only use new (Gen 8 and 9) Pokémon. Still, I came into it knowing I wanted to catch every mon I can. I was struck by just how much encounter variety there is. On a second playthrough where I allow mons from Gen 7 and earlier, I can see myself using a completely different team.

Ah, my team. My companions for this adventures were as follows: Zaza the Meowscarada, Li’l Buddy the Pawmot, Blaze the Ceruledge, False Knees the Corviknight, Honey Bun the Dachsbun, Connie the Frosmoth, and the late substitution for False Knees to cover my crippling weakness to fire-types: Norm the Veluza. I can and will go in depth into this team and what I love about it, but suffice it to say that Weed Cat was a great starter.

I do think I’ll need a second playthrough a while down the road before I can say if I love this game, but it’s easily one of my favorites in the series. Again, that’s why it’s poor performance sucks so much. I really, really like Violet, but it can be miserable to play sometimes. I know it can be so much better then it is. So let’s get to the elephant in the room.

Gamefreak needs to slow down. From what I saw of Sword and Shield (I skipped these ones), there are points where you can tell corners had to be cut. The problem became obvious with Legends Arceus. I love the gameplay, music, art direction, and all the little experiments the designers took, but holy Arceus above, the game looks like ass. If the devs were given more time, it could have looked so much better. And now we’re here with Scarlet and Violet. The art direction is strong but it’s obvious in one look that the devs were rushed. The only parts of the game that don’t consistently drop frames are the Tera raid battles. I’m sure there are countless people listing every performance issue, so I’ll stop there.

The devs need more time to put out their best work, and the Gamefreak and Pokémon Company execs know that. But. Their main audience is children. As a former child myself, I know that children have no taste or sense of quality. Unless the game is literally unplayable and crashes every other minute, kids will not notice the myriad performance issues. So they will continue to ask their parents to buy them the games, and the games will continue being purchased. The share of Pokémon fans who are A) adults, and B) concerned with the state of the games and franchise, is tiny compared to the primary audience. So unless the next game is so rushed that it actually sells as terribly as it runs, things will never change.

So,,, yeah. I give it a 6/10. Fix the performance and I’d give it a 9.5/10. Good game. They gave me a weed cat.

Alright, that was the review I wrote on December 31st, six days after I got the game. I had just finished my vanilla playthrough of the game. I'm even more conflicted on the score now than I was before. I think I'll itemize it then revisit the overall score.

Music: Easy 10/10. Banger after banger here. Battle themes, boss themes, town themes, area themes, oh man. Almost everything is great. There are some tracks I aren't the biggest fan of, namely the West Province theme and variants. But the sheer quantity of songs I like, and the phenomenal use of adaptive music makes up for it.

Story: 8/10. Easily the strongest story of the series in terms of writing quality and dialogue. I don't have much more to say than what I wrote in December. It loses points on having that weaker execution than Black and White, and if I'm being honest, it still doesn't compare to the better-written non-Pokémon games I've played. Halo 4 or Undertale, anyone?

Trainer/Boss Battles: 7/10. Where are the healing items? Where are the switch-ins? Random trainer battles aren't always easy, granted. The trainers with black dialogue boxes (the strongest trainer of each area) are no joke, especially in Nuzlockes. Boss battles though. Thematically, always reserving their ace for last then Terastallizing works very well. It makes the battles much more predictable. I can definitely feel the lack of healing items, which reduces the amount of strategizing needed. I also dock points for removing set mode. That was legitimately the only form of a difficulty option in this game and they turned it into another input and a time loss every time you KO an opponent's Pokémon. It's especially frustrating when I return to Violet after playing earlier games that have the option. Overall enjoyable though.

Wild Pokémon Battles: 10/10. Phenomenal. Perfect, even. Continuing the mapping of Pokéballs to the X button instead of needing to go into the bag is perfect. Makes catching smoother. Pokéball animations are much faster. Roaming encounters are such a welcome change from random encounters. The only problem with them is that they complicate Nuzlockes, but that's really not the designers' fault.

Accessibility: 1/10. Abysmal. Disclaimer that I almost never use any accessibility options in games because I don't need them. But there's no options for disabling or toning down animations. No button remapping. No color blindness options. No text options beside changing the speed. Forgive me if I forgot some. Again, I don't use them so I don't usually think consciously about it. Besides, GameFreak forgot all of them. I give one point because falling of cliffs is made harder by a buffer, and you can warp back up if you do fall. Nintendo-published games need to have more accessibility options and I can't believe they keep getting away with their absence of options.

Presentation: 4/10. Oh, this is rough. Character and Pokémon models are fantastic, manmade structures are great, but almost everything natural looks terrible. I don't see any anti-aliasing. It's terribly optimized. Performance issues abound. And what's with the pace of battles? The higher ups needed to let the devs and QA teams cook. Damn.

Overall: ... 8/10. In some ways, ScarVio knocks it out of the park. In others, it falls flat on its face. But the most important part to me personally is whether the game is fun. And I stand by my previous take. It's some of the most fun I've had in Pokémon game. If my seven playthroughs (four complete, two Nuzlocke wipes, one in progress) are any indication, I like this game quite a lot.

An Introduction to the Beta Editor

Hello all! I’ve gotten some feedback that the tutorials on using the new Beta editor and xKit Rewritten has been confusing a few people, so I wanted to make my own! I’ll try to cover everything below, but if something isn’t clear or you need extra help, let me know please! This post is gonna be pretty long, but I sectioned it up so hopefully you can find what you need with ease.

Step 1. Switching to Beta

You very well may be able to skip this part, because all new blogs are automatically switched to the newer editor. But if you’re still using an older blog, don’t worry, it’s easy! There should be a big purple button in the corner, pretty hard to miss. Should look like this!

Go ahead and hit “Let’s go!” and, well... let’s go!

Step 2. Getting to Know Beta

The Beta editor is very, very different from what we’re all used to. But really, it’s kind of intuitive in a lot of ways. You have to know a lot less shortcuts. Whenever you highlight your text, you’ll see this little guy pop up:

Now, from left to right, here’s what we’re looking at: strikethrough, bold, italics, small text, link in text, and colored text. Most of your keyboard shortcuts should still work (I can’t speak for all computers, but the shortcut for small text no longer works for me with the Beta editor), but we also have handy-dandy buttons now, too! We also have the 'Regular' drop down menu, which opens this:

This one is pretty self explanatory, and it shows what the text will look like if you select that option. 

Step 3. Finer Details

I’m still personally getting used to a lot of the smaller details that come with the Beta editor, but here are some that I’ve learned! Hopefully I’ll be adding to this list when more troubleshooting comes into my realm of knowledge.

Auto-Readmores: For whatever reason, Tumblr has taken to cropping any posts over a certain length by itself? Annoying, but this is something you can toggle on/off in your Dashboard Settings!

Editing Tags: This isn’t something that needs to be fixed, but it was big news to me! Instead of having to delete your tag completely when you’ve made a typo, you can just edit your post and edit the tag! Handy!

Links on Gifs: This isn’t a bad thing, it’s just new, different, and weird. But if you dislike it, there is a way to stop it from happening! It’s just a manual task. When you copy and paste a gif into your reply, you’ll see three little images on it. We’re going to click on the circled one below.

That’ll open up a link box, with a link to your gif. Just backspace that, hit the ‘Done’ button, and boom! No more link at the bottom of your gif!

Step 4. xKit Rewritten

I know what a lot of people’s main concern is: cropping replies. This is how we get to that point. The first step is going to be to download the newest iteration of xKit. You do not have to uninstall your old one to do this, they coexist on purpose! New xKit and xKit Rewritten have different features, so I’ve found it best to have both and utilize all the features! 

xKit rewritten is a Chrome extension, and it can be found at this link! Just follow the instructions on that page to install it. Once it’s all good and installed, it’ll be found next to your other extensions, or by the URL bar on your browser window. Looks like this!

Now you have xKit Rewritten!

Step 5. Cropping Replies

Alright, this is where the money is. Just like with regular xKit, you have to toggle on the setting that allows you to cut replies down. Once you click on that purple X icon, you’ll see a drop down with lots of options. I’ve underlined the one we’re looking for right now, "Trim Reblogs."

Once you toggle that little switch on, you can go ahead and start replying. If you’re replying to a starter, then there is no need to worry about this feature. You have nothing to crop, so don’t worry! But if you’re replying to an active thread, here’s what you’re gonna do. Type out your reply, format it however you want, and then draft it. Then we’re gonna go into our drafts.

Here’s my thread with three tiers to it! The standard is two replies per post, and that’s what a lot of people like to stick to. So let’s make that happen! If you’ll notice at the bottom of that draft, there’s a scissor icon. I drew an arrow to it in the photo above. We’re gonna click on that.

And that icon brings this up! You’ll see it says “Select trail items to remove,” and it shows the trails separately. “Trails” are each individual reblog, and of course, we only want two of those, not three. This is really easy to fix! We’re just gonna select that top “trail,” aka the first reply in the thread, and hit the “Trim!” button.

And once we’ve done that, the first “trail” is gone! You just have the two more recent replies on the post, and you’re good to reblog it!

The one caveat of this is that you can no longer edit parts of other people’s replies, so you can’t format the posts to your heart’s content like we’re used to. A downside for sure, but so far, this isn’t something there’s a fix for. Hopefully in the future, xKit will figure that out for us!

Step 6. That’s All!

Once you have all that down, you’re a master of the Beta editor and a master of xKit Rewritten! Tumblr staff has mentioned phasing out the Legacy editor all together in the future, so it appears this will be our new reality. It is worth it to mention that the Beta editor is still, well, in beta, so it is subject to change. If it does and we get even more features or work-arounds, I’ll be sure to come back and edit this post! Until then, if you have any questions, please let me know! I am here to help!

hi lovely humans. this is a long post. but i need to talk about this. yes, i'm ranting, but i'm genuinely tired of this and i can no longer be the "i'll just deal with it" type. i read every person i look at interacting withs' rules. it's common sense in this community and not doing it at this point is kinda disrespectful in my opinion. TLDR: (although you should read if we interact unless it's been for a long time, i know y'all understand my rules very well) READ MY RULES! a reminder for anyone who wants to interact with me, my rules are important and it's obvious when people haven't read them especially the "female vs male muses". one, i have a ratio rule of 1:1 male:female (i don't have nb/genderfluid muses rn so that's the ratio rn), if you are someone who doesn't care about ratios that is fine, i am happy to give more females if you'd like but my males come with rules. i prefer playing my femmes and being used for my males has irked me to no end over my many years in the rp community. now, to help myself stay on top of this there is a time limit for if you've posted a reply to my males and not my females, i've been giving leeway with it given my own health and the holiday season BUT next year, after my bday i will be enforcing the time limit again (of two weeks). as usual, if muse level is an issue, that is more than okay, i am happy to hold onto your reply to my male until you get around to having enough muse to reply to my female but otherwise, i will drop the thread after two weeks and it'll be a strike against me interacting with you. (note: i, whether queuing or directly posting, will post my male and female replies together/one after the other, this helps me so i keep the ratio especially if someone i'm rping with also finds it important, you can always not reply to my male and wait til your muse replying to my female is musey again. hold it in your drafts, that's fine, i am happy to wait. it's far better than feeling used. i do sometimes give slack with a couple of replies but over the past year it's been harder to do that given how disheartening it is (especially with my rsd).) also, if you reply to male muses starter, reply to a females too OR reach out to interact with one, not doing so makes it awkward for me because i then have to follow up on something that should be a no-brainer given my rules, which you should've read. i've legit been told once that they figured my rules didn't kick in until we interacted a little bit, that's not how it works. two, sadly, f/f threads are still rough, there are a few muses/people i interact with willing to do them platonic and not but they are minimal rn. so most threads are m/f rn. m/m is still open but lower muse too. i get this isn't for everyone and that's totally okay. sometimes i will reach out and ask for f/f and you can do the same but it's not guaranteed. this also connects to three... so, three, i don't rp with all female blogs. i understand some people don't like playing males at all and that is totally okay but this is my preference, especially when i don't have much muse for f/f threads having all female blogs like my posts to interact with me is.... bothersome. like, the f/f thing is on my pinned post and my rules, so you can't miss it if you're looking at my blog. which means you've liked something or reached out without giving my blog a real look at all or you've ignored/haven't read my rules or expect me to just to m/f threads with solely my males with you. that's isn't going to happen. i'm not kidding when i say there have been at least 20 all-female blogs in the past month that have liked interaction posts or reached out to rp. sorry, but it's my preference right now and will not happen.

MOST ACTIVE MUSE? It honestly fluctuates. If I'm not writing a muse, then chances are I have little to no muse for them (even though they remain active. Without writing partners they fall to the wayside.) But I do enjoy writing Ethan and Gage.

EXPERIENCE / HOW MANY YEARS? Five years. All on here and Discord.

BEST EXPERIENCE? Definitely the friends I've made on here.

RP PET PEEVES? When a blog boasts that its all about communication, but then they don't follow what they preach. I don't expect lighting fast answers or conversations to be daily, but every once in awhile is fair to know they're still interested and/or around. Especailly if there is an issue with the writing, plot, ooc, etc.

Also when there is no interaction with posts. I don't mean rebloggin memes or aesthetic posts, but starters, answers, and the like. It sucks when a potential writing partner and I are plotting, everything is going great, the starter gets put out or replied to, and then poof. Nothing. Not even a like to know they got it. I enjoy writing and it is just a hobby, but I do put a decent amount of effort into what I write. I like it to be enjoyable for both and try very hard to make it feel like you're in the story as we write it. To be ghosted after getting excited to play things out sucks. I would much rather prefer a message or even comment that you're just not inot it anymore than to be left hoping.

FLUFF, ANGST OR SMUT? Angst and fluff. Hundred percent. And smut is a hard no for me.

PLOTS OR MEMES? Either or. Although I'm a big 'get the general idea and starting point, then wing it' plotter. Too much plotting and it sort of ruins the possibilities for me.

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES? Mostly long. I can't help it. Once I start writing, I don't stop until I feel like its finished and at a good point for my partner to continue. But I'm not opposed to a couple paragraphs here and there.

TIME TO WRITE? Whenever I have the time. I have a full time job, three kids, three dogs (one of which is only six months old and still training), and a life to keep up with outside of here. I'm always on the go, so I write when I can get it in. I tend to draft up replies and jump back and forth as the muse strikes until a reply in finished. Very rarely do I have time to just sit at my laptop and write.

ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSES? Yes and no. They all have pieces of me in them, and I use real life experience/stories to develop them, but as a general overall we are all very different.

HOW I RUN MY SHOW SPEED: I am often times a whole tortious. Sometimes I can be on the quicker side, but it usually takes me some time to ponder over our thread and put together a reply. Some threads take longer than others depending on the complexity of the thread and often the headspace that I’m in. Sometimes I can whip them out left and right and other times, I can only reply to one or two things or nothing at all. My activity is sporadic: I have an ass of medical issues and I am also a mom, so I can’t predict when I will or will not be active, though if I know that something is coming up that will prevent me from being on here for a span of 3+ days, I typically make a post to let everyone know.  

REPLIES: Again, I’m often times pretty slow. When you post your reply, starter, answered meme, etc, I tend to save it away in my drafts right away. I often re-read it along with the previous reply multiple times and ponder over what I will write back and how I will word it. Arthur is very complex, so sometimes it takes me a bit of extra time. I also have to be in a certain headspace for certain threads: so I write back to what I’m feeling in the moment when I hop on here. Main’s & exclusives are prioritized here, though I still love and adore each and every partner I write with and those threads will be answered to as I drift along.

STARTERS: I do write starters: especially if I approach you with a plot in mind. Though I typically like to start off with a meme bc I can’t always come up with an idea on the spot as I prefer more organic feeling interactions. If you approach me for interaction, please come to me with a plot in mind. If you don’t have one, just say so and we can brainstorm together, but you have to put in the work with me, otherwise if I find that I’m the only one plotting, I will dip out. I refuse to do all of the work alone and it’s a slap to my face for you to also request for me to write a starter too. If you are the one who approached me first, I highly recommend that you to write the starter: it’s only fair in my opinion because it was your idea in the first place and if I find myself in a situation where I always wind up writing us the starters every single time we plot off of an idea of yours, then I will stop offering entirely. 

INBOX: I am a meme whore and highly encourage you to toss some into my inbox. I reblog memes often and my memes tag is filled with more memes than you can count (none of which have an expiration date!). Sometimes, I do like to do a little plotting with the meme- if so, I will usually approach you with some ideas, but if you have an idea of your own, please feel free to tell me! Memes are great ice breakers and can offer a wonderful start to an organic interaction. I do not answer every meme, if I can’t find any inspiration or if it’s something very out of left field, it’ll most likely get deleted, but feel free to try to shoot me something else.

SELECTIVITY: I am highly selective and mutuals only. I am picky with my writing partners: our writing must blend well, you must put effort into pushing the plot with me and I prefer to write with people who actually acknowledge my existence (whether it’s oocly or silent support through a like or random ooc commentary on a post.) If I don’t see any potential between us, chances are, I will not follow you back. This blog also has mains and exclusives: these are the people who I vibe well with, plot well with and write well with. They are usually prioritized here and I am extremely selective as to who winds up on these lists (for example, I will have no more than three of the same character on my mains list.).  

WISHLIST: I don’t really have one, though I do have a desires tag that I share random photos, gifs and plots (if I come across any) there. Idk, I just toss ideas I like as I think of them or see them to those who I’d like to write them with (typically my mains & exclusives) and see if they’d be interested. HONEST NOTE: I always fear that I sound super strict and uptight, but in reality, I just have chronic anxiety and depression and I really can’t handle feeling overwhelmed by the amount of drama that happens on this website. My blog functions in the best way suited for me and based off of past experiences (the good, bad and the ugly) I’ve had and I will continue to tweak how it functions based on my personal experiences. I'll just login on my ooc blog by default for this month and login on my rp blogs when I have the time AND the right mood to rp. Lately I am lacking either time or mood (or both) and it's a pain. I DO wanna provide my moots with actual muse talk, rps and meme replies again instead of ooc shittery like some lame ooc & aesthetic-only blog, but I'm mentally so depleted for different reasons. Well. I might clean up my drafts & inbox a little in January, but not radically. I contemplate softblocking some mutuals that never really interact with me (anymore) too. I'm hoping that a reminder of my inbox- & starter calls in January will bring in some interactions with muses I don't have (m)any threads with yet. The silence I was met with after introducing new muses on Muses-Inn was a little... disheartening. I mean, I still have my other muses and I still rp them, I just would like to return to some other old loves of mine again as well.

I wanna work more actively on relationships and arcs for my muses on technodromes next year. Especially for Grum. Some things didn't go as I had intended and I feel like my writing on them was poorly executed.

My Facebook Page's Comments Section Wanted A QB Rankings Article. Now You'll Suffer, Too

For the record, I hate QB ranking articles. I hate listicles. I hate blogs that force writers to do listicles (and still don’t pay flat fees for them). Unfortunately, however, I have fostered a community of degenerates, and us degenerates love a chance to spew hot takes from the fires of Lake Minnetonka. We love to see who has the balls to go out on a limb and defend themselves in the comments section.

As we revel in the hilarity, however, we also practice a slight bit of intellectualism. Here at 904 SAD, you can have any opinion you want.

Well, as long as you can back it up.

This is why writing an article about the best returning quarterbacks in college football is difficult for me. Shedeur Sanders was the best QB in HBCU football last year, but North Carolina Central’s signal caller (and his Right Guard) put on a clinic in the Celebration Bowl last year. Also, NFL wise, we can’t tell who is worse between Zach Wilson and Trey Lance. Mainly because Trey Lance never plays. All that aside, Zach Wilson and Trey Lance were superstars at BYU (a Group of 5 Independent) and North Dakota State (a 1-AA powerhouse). They both went in the Top 3 of the NFL Draft and each of their franchises regret the picks to this day.

So, pro-level projections aren’t gonna be a thing in this article.

A numbered list won’t be present either.

Instead, we are going to use the written word to find out who the *best* returning starter in FBS or FCS college football is. Sorry D2, D3, NAIA, and NJCAA gunslingers. I’m not being an elitist. Unfortunately, us small school alums know all too well that you’re just gonna end up transferring to a D1 school the first chance you get either way (Why, Austin Reed? Why?).

THE LANDSCAPE

Even if you take out the pro potential of the guys available for evaluation, Caleb Williams probably shouldn’t have won the Heisman last year. Come to think of it, Drake Maye wasn’t even a finalist for the damn thing. Unfortunately, that happens when you go 9-5 with a Power 5 schedule. Meaning ya lost 5 games. Meaning it’s hard to be the best player in college football when you can’t beat the best players in college football at least ten times (Lamar Jackson Somewhere: Hey!).

Also, picking Caleb Williams or Drake Maye is too easy. I mean, after all, the correct answer is either one of them. One is being coached by Lincoln Riley and the other one is what Arch Manning is supposed to be.

To make matters even worse, there are a lot of pedestrian fifth-year seniors and pandemmy-waiver dynamos who haven’t even broken 5,000 yards in their entire careers yet. There's also guys like Bo Nix who had one of the best offensive lines in the world, put up some phenomenal stats his first year in a new environment, and still couldn’t leverage his years of SEC experience to make a real run in the Pacific 12. 10-3 ain’t a bad record at all, but Oregon has been pumping out future Hall of Famers and All-Pros for years now. Eventually, somebody has to do what Marcus Mariota did that one time (That One Guy In The Distance: make a fuckin’ playoff, you dorks!).

So, winning obviously has to be a metric when determining who the best returning starter is. Before you guys start: Yes, I’m about to be extremely hypocritical. I wouldn’t be a proper sports journalist (*DEEP COUGH*) if I wasn’t.

MARK GRONOWSKI - South Dakota State

This MF has already led SDSU to the FCS Championship Game TWICE. Once in the spring (that one pandemmy season) and once in the fall last season. Did I mention that Gronowski is going into his Junior year? No? Well, did I tell you that he’s 22-3 as a starter? No? Damn, did I tell you that he’s been a team captain since 2022?

This man is a WINNER, son.

While Group of 5 guys are stat padding in the basement of the Bowl Subdivision, this man is sending an entire state to a promised land it never knew existed.

Throwing or running for a TD against Iowa would have been nice (would have won them the game in a blowout, actually), but at least he didn’t do what sooooo many FCS guys do against Power 5 teams early in the season: completely tank his squad’s chances of winning. Also, you know a QB has the juice when he is winning for programs that are never televised (ESPN+ matters!), rarely have guys taken in the draft (i’m including RD 7, too), and are in parts of the country that have less than 900,000 people in the entire state. Yes, you read that correctly. There are more bandwagon Patriots fans left over from 2018 than the entire state of South Dakota has residents. Gronowski is doing the Lord’s work.

SAM HARTMAN - Notre Dame

Wake Forest would like a word. Sam Hartman is so honored to play for the great cathedral that is Our Lady in Christ, but he made his initial set of bones playing for a…wait…huh? That can’t be right.

Anyway, Hartman is a 17th year senior who has 12,967 passing yards under his belt. Unless he has a season BETTER Joe Burrow’s in 2019, he won’t be catching Case Keenum’s all-time record for career passing yards (19,217). HOWEVER, Hartman only needs a measly 1,112 yards to pass Rakeem Cato for 10th all-time in the history of college football. That certainly makes him a name my list should respect, as Hartman also has the chance to play for a program with the resources, tools, and schedule to make a run for the College Football Playoff. This means the Irish signal caller could net that elusive First Team All-American nod he needs to be eligible for the College Football Hall of Fame.

SHEDEUR SANDERS - Colorado

HEY, why are you booing me??? I’m right!

Sheduer Sanders led Jackson State to its most relevant era on the field in a minute. Yeah, he lost both Celebration Bowls, but the developing star led his team to a 23-3 record while he was under center. Sanders also won the Jerry Rice Award (Best FCS Freshman), the Deacon Jones Award (Best HBCU All-Around Player), and the SWAC Offensive Player of the Year Award in 2022.

Look, you asked me who the best returning starters in the country were. I answered the question (lul).

Entering into his first Power 5 season, Sanders will have a lot to prove in the Pac-12. Like Sam Hartman, Sanders’ prolific production at his previous school was not enough to earn him a First-Team All-American honor. That means the Head-Buffalo-in-Charge (the Chief Buffalo is his daddy) will probably need to make the College Football Playoff for the first time as a starter to make the media tides swing his way.

JORDAN TRAVIS - Florida State

Mike Norvell probably gets fired if Jordan Travis doesn’t turn the corner last year.

After years of development and struggle, Jordan Travis tossed the rock for over 3,000 yards, led his compadres to a 10-win season, thrashed the Florida Gators (who had a Top 5 NFL Draft pick under center [LUL]), and won a bowl against….

Former National Champion? Check (2019 for West Florida)

Bonkers ass single-season as a passer? Check (9-5 record with 389 completions, 602 pass attempts, 4,744 yards, 40 TDs, and 11 picks in 2022)

Bowl game win WITH the MVP to match? CheckCheck (2022 New Orleans Bowl)

The resume speaks for itself. Yes, the National Title for West Florida was won in Division 2, but Reed made the MEGA D2 to FBS jump last year and did the best thing Western Kentucky (or any CUSA team for that matter) could hope to do - Win. A. Bowl. Game. And guess what, he’s suiting up for a college football team in 2023.

Played against the Heisman Winner in the 2022 Pac-12 Championship Game and blew the Heisman Winners’ Malibu doors off the frame and the hinges.

Spencer Rattler was supposed to be the #1 overall pick. Then he sucked. Then he transferred to South Carolina and got…hmm.

DJ Uiagalelei got Dabo Sweeney to do something he’s never done before: Give up on his guys. Before we knew it, DJU was benched for a Freshman and Coach Sweeney started looking for new coordinators to replace his new coordinators. Damn, son; that ain’t good.

Bo Nix has a chance to break out (like, REALLY break out), but what will it lead to? Will pretty numbers be enough to win? Or will it all just lead to some team taking a “flyer” on him in the 4th round? We’ll see.
