"I didn't give out any medical advice" lmao you were heavily implying that person's doctor was wrong and that they shouldn't listen to their doctor's advice. that's irresponsible. you're going to get somebody killed with this bs
If their doctor's advice is to lose weight through dieting, it is wrong and I can say that in full confidence because it. (x) doesn't. (x) work. (x) Here! (x) Take (x) these! I am (x) chucking (x) peer reviewed sources (x) at you. (x)
Anti-fat bias is at work here. And so is a weight-loss market worth $3.8 BILLION as of 2023.
In 2013, UCLA researchers Traci Mann, Janet Tomiyama, and Britt Ahlstrom conducted the most comprehensive and rigorous analysis of diet studies, analyzing 31 long-term studies.
“What happens to people on diets in the long run?” Mann asked. “Would they have been better off to not go on a diet at all? We decided to dig up and analyze every study that followed people on diets for two to five years. We concluded most of them would have been better off not going on the diet at all. Their weight would be pretty much the same, and their bodies would not suffer the wear and tear from losing weight and gaining it all back.” (x)
Certain factors biased the diet studies to make them appear more effective than they really were. For one, many participants self-reported their weight by phone or mail rather than having their weight measured on a scale by an impartial source. Also, the studies have very low follow-up rates — eight of the studies had follow-up rates lower than 50 percent, and those who responded may not have been representative of the entire group, since people who gain back large amounts of weight are generally unlikely to show up for follow-up tests, Mann said.
Evidence suggests that repeatedly losing and gaining weight is linked to cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes and altered immune function. Mann and Tomiyama recommend that more research be conducted on the health effects of losing and gaining weight, noting that scientists do not fully understand how such weight cycling leads to adverse health effects.
“We asked what evidence is there that dieting works in the long term, and found that the evidence shows the opposite” Tomiyama said.
Here are some quotes I pulled directly from the study.
It is implicit in this definition that losing weight will lead to improved health, and yet, health outcomes are not routinely included in studies of diets.
Overall, there were only slight improvements in most health outcomes studied. Changes in diastolic and systolic blood pressure, fasting blood glucose, cholesterol, and triglyceride levels were small, and none of these correlated with weight change. There were also very small effects of these diets on lipid-lowering medication use and coronary morbidity and mortality. There were a few larger positive effects for hypertension and diabetes medication use, as well as diabetes and stroke incidence. In correlational analyses, however, we uncovered no clear relationship between weight loss and health outcomes related to hypertension, diabetes, or cholesterol, calling into question whether weight change per se had any causal role in the few effects of the diets. Increased exercise, healthier eating, engagement with the health care system, and social support may have played a role instead. Our findings are in line with a recent meta-analysis (Flegal, Kit, Orpana, & Graubard, 2013) that found that overweight and class I obesity were not associated with higher all-cause mortality. Moreover, Ortega and colleagues (2013) have documented metabolically healthy but obese individuals, and an emerging literature on the “obesity paradox”, whereby obesity appears to confer health benefits in certain diseases (Amundson, Djurkovic, & Matwiyoff, 2010), suggests that a disconnect between weight loss and health outcomes should not be surprising.
We believe the ultimate goal of diets is to improve people’s long-term health, rather than to reduce their weight. Our review of randomized controlled trials of the effects of dieting on health finds very little evidence of success in achieving this goal. If diets do not lead to longterm weight loss or long-term health benefits, it is difficult to justify encouraging individuals to endure them.
See for yourself.

UK feminists, did you know that there are crisis pregnancy centres operating throughout the UK?
I didn't, until last night's (27/02/23) BBC Panorama special. After this I googled "crisis pregnancy centres UK" and discovered that not only do dozens of these places exist, but one of them is operating less than ten minutes from my own home. Maybe it's my own naivety, but I honestly assumed that these were a US-only nightmare.
For those unaware, crisis pregnancy centres typically operate under the guise of a normal women's health or pregnancy/abortion/miscarriage support service. Almost all of these centres obscure or withhold entirely their Christian origins and anti-abortion stance. Their websites describe non-judgemental environments, licensed councillors/therapists, and impartial advice. Pregnant women go to them, believing they will receive unbiased, medically accurate information, resources, and support regarding the termination of their pregnancy. Instead, they are guilt-tripped, isolated, coerced, manipulated into have unnecessary scans, shown traumatising images, and given medical misinformation. Specifically, these centres promote the widely discredited concept of Post Abortion Syndrome as an unavoidable consequence of abortion.
Shockingly, most of these crisis pregnancy centres are operating as official charities, registered with The Charity Commission. Not only does this give them undeserved credibility, it enables them other benefits like tax relief and potentially access to charitable trusts and grants. According to the BBC,
"The Charity Commission in Northern Ireland told Panorama it is already looking into Stanton Healthcare. The Charity Commission in England said it is assessing information provided by the programme."
However, with the number of centres currently operating (up to 57, from the BBC article) I worry that The Charity Commission will not adequately investigate them all.
Unfortunately, the BBC has not published a full list of the centres active in the UK. I might try to compile a list and add it to this post, but I would encourage everyone in the UK to have a browse and see if any such centres pop up near you. You can make a complaint to The Charity Commission (if they are a registered charity), although without specific proof I have no idea how successful this may be. Equally though, you can make everyone in your local area aware of the damage these places cause and the misinformation they spread.
Many crisis pregnancy centres seem to target vulnerable populations of pregnant women such as homeless women and those escaping domestic abuse. If you work with any groups supporting vulnerable women, make sure they are aware of these centres and the risk they pose. It may also be worth organising local protests or awareness campaigns. I'm sure it's not just me who was woefully uninformed about the prevalence of these centres in the UK.
Learn more about the BBC Panorama investigation here (including where to watch it, UK only unfortunately)

Psych abolition questions:
What will happen with those who need/want medications? How will they be able to get access to safe, affordable, and reliable medication?
What will happen to those who need intervention during extreme states to stay alive? How will this be institutionally handled?
For those who cannot live/function alone and need inpatient, how will this work? Who will pay for the care?
For those who like an impartial neutral party that gives advice and can point out problems you have and legally shouldnt tell people things without your say so(something average people arent bound to), how will they be verified as capable? Will the psychologist/therapist schooling still exist? Will having people whos job it is to talk to other sin this manner still exist?
How will care be paid for in general?
Is the plan to shift to symptom/trait-based resources and help, or will diagnostic labels still be used? If labels are still used, what rigor will go into the process of updating criteria or adding/removing diagnoses and who will decide that?
What is the plan to ensure useful psych tools are available to people and their loved ones? How will the information be tested, synthesized, updated, and distributed?
Note: I am super for psych abolition in theory but in practice I worry about those who rely on some parts of the existing structure so these questions are pretty in-depth. The actual nitty-gritty details like this are what I most would want to know out of everything.
makes sense! these r questions that i think would be really awesome to discuss with other people who are interested in psych abolition, so this is def helpful for the panel! thank you so much.
also after i go to this conference def will upload notes here of what we all talk about and what ideas people have to answer some of these questions if that's something people would like!

BRF Reading - 1st of June, 2022
This is speculation only
Cards drawn on the 1st of June, 2022
Question: Does Her Majesty want Harry back for the Jubilee?
Tumblr media
Interpretation: No. She has invited him back as a matter of strategy, not of affection.
Card One: The Hermit. This is the card for Virgo, and Harry is a sun sign Virgo, so this card stands for Harry. It is a major arcana card, so the focus here is on Harry. The Hermit is a card of retreating from the world, of living quietly, of going within to find wisdom. This is what Her Majesty feels about Harry with respect to the Jubilee. She wants Harry to withdraw from the invitation and send a polite refusal. She does not want the blare of PR that surrounds his every movement these days. If he has to come, she would like him to do so quietly and privately, as his attendance is limited to family events. I think Her Majesty knows that this is not going to happen, but I also think that is what she would like to happen if her preferences were consulted.
Card Two: The King of Wands. This is the card of a fire sign person, especially a Leo, and as such is represents Meghan, who is a fire sign Leo. It is a minor arcana card, showing that the focus of Her Majesty is on Harry, and not on his wife. Wands are PR, so Her Majesty is well aware that Meghan will arrive in a blaze of PR and will continue that way throughout her visit. Meghan follows Harry in the cards, so they are coming as a pair - if you invite Harry, Meghan tags along as well, blowing trumpets to announce her presence. This shows that Her Majesty sees Meghan as an unfortunate side effect of inviting Harry. Sh would prefer that harry stayed at home (the Hermit) and his wife stayed with him, but she is aware that this is unlikely to happen, and that Meghan will surround herself with media articles (wands) as much as possible.
Card Three: The King of Swords. This is the reason why Harry and Meghan were invited to the Jubilee. It is not about affection, as the King of Swords deals in logic. It is about strategy. The King of Swords is the strategist, the person with intellectual power and authority who rules from a place of authority and respect. They make decisions based on logic and impartial judgement, with no sentiment allowed. They are not worried about being caring or sympathetic towards others, what matters to them is looking at the situation impartially and coming to a fair, firm, and impartial decision about what is to be done. The King of Swords can also represent advisers, especially legal, financial, or medical advisers.
This card tells me that Her Majesty views Harry and Meghan's attendance at the Jubilee as a matter of strategy. The invitation, if given, was given as the best strategic option of those available, and although Her Majesty was hoping that Harry would have the sensitivity and courtesy to decline it, now that he is coming the visit is viewed as a matter of strategy. She may have some cold and unwelcome decisions to communicate to her grandson, especially in legal and/or financial areas. She may have some other strategic reasons for inviting him. It is very likely that she has listened to her advisers and followed their advice so Harry and Meghan are placed at certain events that clearly indicate their standing within the royal family, and to show the world that they are not members of the British Royal Family/working royals/The Firm. Her Majesty wishes to communicate a message with respect to Harry and Meghan (Swords are the suit of communication) and she will use this visit to do so in a very clear fashion.
Underlying Energy: The Queen of Swords. This card is sometimes used for the official birthday of Her Majesty (held in June = Gemini = air sign), and so it represents the official celebration of her birthday this weekend and the surrounding Jubilee celebrations. The Queen of Swords is the only court card not married to the King, instead she is a widow or an unmarried sister, and as the widow she represents Her Majesty. The Queen of Swords, like the King, is all about logic and truth, making decisions with the head and not with the heart.
As the underlying energy, this card says that the Jubilee is all about Her Majesty and her 70 years of reigning, and the Queen has no intention of letting it get hijacked into the Meghan and Harry show. Her Majesty knows what she can control and what she can't control. She will not be trying to do the impossible and muzzle the press, instead she will use her position to send some very clear messages about what her reign is about.
Major Arcana: The Hermit. The focus here is Harry and how to put him into retirement for the jubilee celebrations, i.e. make sure his thirst for PR does not dominate the celebrations.
Major Suit: Swords. Swords is the suit of air, of communications, of legal matters and medical matters. It is cold, strategic, and logical. If Harry is expecting a warm and fuzzy welcome, he is in for a shock.
Conclusion: Her Majesty is not filled with joy and family feeling over the arrival of Harry and Meghan for her Jubilee celebrations. Her focus is Harry, and she would much rather that he has taken the hint and stayed away. As he has decided to attend, she will be dealing with the visit in a cold, logical and strategic manner. It is her celebrations for her Jubilee and she intends to use those celebrations to send a very clear message about exactly where Harry stands in the hierarchy of the royal family. She may have some other, private messages for Harry concerning legal and or financial matters, and those messages will be based on cold logic and a clear strategy for the future, not sentiment. It is likely that the Queen has taken professional advice as to how to deal with Harry and/or about legal and financial matters concerning her grandson. Harry is going to face the cold, logical, strategic monarch who does what is best for the monarchy, and not the loving and doting grandmother.

Metaphysical/supernatural books I didn't finish fully before sending back to the library but I made an opinion on before DNFing, go! ✌🏽
Tumblr media
The Devil Came to Saint Louis, by Troy Taylor
The author spent about a third of the book at least on exorcisms that had nothing to do with its title subject, couldn't remain impartial on the subjects he was covering, and seemed way more interested in the spectacle of the supposed possessions rather than the utilitarian covering of the subject matter. As someone who's worked with disabled persons, mental health subject matter, and medical topics, the coverage of the exorcisms is super fucking weird and exploitative in tone, even without the real names being used! Considering that this is a secondhand source that's translating the material for viewing from its primary sources, I would have expected better from the author. 1/5. Go find the primary sources if you like the topic so much.
Tumblr media
A Haunted Road Atlas, by Schiefer and Schulz of "And That's Why We Drink".
It basically only covers already popular cities like New York, Philadelphia, etc. I was hoping for something more...actually road-trippy? No one's crossing the country along this path, that's for sure. People die in NYC all the time; there's only like five murders covered in the whole section on the city? I'm aware that this is largely just meant to be a book on alcoholic beverage recipes, but I don't drink and I take the titles for what they promise. This doesn't deliver. For a real road trip experience, try Atlas Obscura, or something more local, like Weird NJ, or something regional, like Magical Destinations of the Northeast, which I HIGHLY recommend! 2/5, get one of those local indie-published murder books from those tiny bookstores instead. Unless you just like alcohol, in which case, I don't have enough experience to form an opinion.
Tumblr media
The Art of Scrying and Dowsing, by Jenny Tyson
(Apparently forgot to take a picture of this. Whoops! I had a library copy so it's gone now.)
I think that some of the more fiddly semantics didn't hit right with me, but that may be a difference in our social circles or in our training. Otherwise, the author gives a large range of techniques to try to refine one's inner eye, including blind or double blind divination training techniques and tips and tricks when working with tricky subjects (or querents). This book is largely what I would consider "dowsing" more than scrying, but it has a sense of reason that is well-established, offers advice worth trying, and I believe my original goal when checking it out was to test at least a few before the library recalled it. Alas, I overestimated my abilities to finish it on time. 😅 4/5, seems very helpful for intermediate practitioners looking to hone this specific skill; would be a higher ranking but I haven't tested the techniques yet.
Blessings!

Men with excessive levels of damaged sperm DNA are less likely to get their associate pregnant and have double the risk of miscarriage. You can then move ahead with extra info on your fertility journey. In the same research, the TUNEL assay confirmed no vital correlation with embryo or blastocyst high quality and the SCSA assay was not predictive of any ART consequence (Figures 3-5). SpermComet® expertise has been proven to have excessive sensitivity and moderate specificity in predicting being pregnant following ART (Table 3).

Women in Northern Ireland are still being prevented from accessing accurate information about abortions online which has led to them seeking help from a controversial pro-life organisation, i can reveal.
Those seeking abortions are having to rely upon just a few charities for help and information, nearly three years after it was decriminalised in Northern Ireland.
Limited information is also available via regional health trusts.
Moreover, NI Health Minister Robin Swann – who is openly against abortion – has failed to publish any information about abortion services on the Department for Health website. i checked the website and there is no advice at all on abortion law or how to access a safe termination.
This means that when people enter a Google search for abortion in Northern Ireland, they can often end up on the Stanton Healthcare Belfast website – a controversial pro-life organisation accused of masquerading as a healthcare service – which appears high-up on the list of results.
The group is part of Stanton International, an American Christian organisation, which describes itself as a “revolutionary organisation that seeks to replace abortion businesses around the world”.
Stanton Belfast is championed by anti-abortion group Precious Life, known for protesting outside abortion clinics. Leader Bernadette Smyth gave a speech at the Stanton opening ceremony, deeming it a “historic day in the pro-life movement in Ireland”.
The Stanton Belfast website claims to provide women with ‘options advice’ about their pregnancy, ultrasound scans and post-abortion care and does not mention “pro-life” views.
Politicians and women’s rights charities are calling for the UK Government to push for accurate information to be made more widely available in Northern Ireland.
Paula Dennan, co-convener of the Abortion Rights Campaign, said: “Pregnant people seeking information on abortion and support should not have to deal with anti-abortion agencies masquerading as impartial sources of medical information.
“Deciphering facts from disinformation is not something abortion seekers should have to do to arrange abortion care, yet we know this happens all too often.”
Rt Hon Caroline Nokes MP, Chair of the Women and Equalities Select Committee, said it remains “virtually impossible” to access advice and support and called for progress to be made so women are not forced to turn to unsafe procedures.
This comes as the overturning of the landmark Roe V Wade ruling in America has already triggered automatic abortion bans in some states, meaning millions of women will have to travel to access safe treatment.
Closer to home, women in Northern Ireland still have to travel to England for an abortion if they are over ten weeks pregnant, despite decriminalisation in October 2019.
In 2021, at least 161 pregnant people travelled from Northern Ireland to England or Wales for an abortion, according to government figures. This does not include those who did not give a Northern Ireland address or who travelled elsewhere.
MPs voted last week to allow the UK Government to directly commission abortion services in Northern Ireland.
In late 2019, Westminster passed laws to liberalise abortion legislation in Northern Ireland while the government at Stormont had collapsed.
But three years later, the individual health trusts in Northern Ireland are still only offering early medical abortions on an ad hoc basis and Health Minister Robin Swann has allowed the Executive to block the commission of services nationally.
Northern Ireland Secretary Brandon Lewis last week suggested a telemedicine abortion option is set to be introduced in Northern Ireland when services are fully rolled out.
The lack of abortion services is partly due to the influence of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), which describes itself as a pro-life party, but also because of some politicians who are against abortion from the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP), including Mr Swann. The UUP, however, has a mixed stance on abortion.
Last week’s vote by MPs means that Northern Ireland’s health department no longer needs to seek approval from the wider Executive to commission abortion services.
Secretary of State Mr Lewis, said the Executive and the Department of Health have “failed” women and girls in Northern Ireland, and called for abortion services to be “delivered and properly communicated” as soon as possible.
i understands that he asked pro-choice group Alliance For Choice to keep their website up-to-date with all the relevant information because it is not online through Northern Ireland’s health department.
But small charities such as Alliance For Choice and Informing Choices NI say they do not have the resources to fill the online gap left by the Northern Ireland Department for Health. This had led to some women turning to the controversial pro-life group Stanton Belfast because it appears high-up on Google when searching for how to get an abortion in Northern Ireland.
“The reason it’s so easy to accidentally end up at Stanton Belfast is because the Department of Health in Northern Ireland don’t have any official information on the services that are already available online,” said Emma Campbell, co-chair of Alliance For Choice.
She said people may end up booking an appointment at Stanton because it comes across as a legitimate abortion clinic. On the website, it claims to be a “safe place where women are empowered to make their best choice”, without mentioning “pro-life” views.
Ms Campbell told i that women have sought help from Alliance For Choice after mistakenly turning to Stanton Belfast for support. She said she has been told by some women of Stanton staff lecturing and judging patients, and even telling them that they would be at a higher risk of breast cancer if they get an abortion, which has no scientific basis.
Sexual health charity Informing Choices NI also told i that it had been contacted by women who claimed to have experienced “distressing” interactions with Stanton Belfast and that the organisation had offered scans that delayed access to abortions.
Google reviews written about the service accuse Stanton of being anti-choice and failing to offer women any information about terminations.
The reviews say some women were left upset by their experiences with Stanton and had stated the organisation should be upfront about being “anti-choice”.
In response to some of the negative reviews, Stanton claimed that the comments are an “attempt to discredit” the organisation, adding that their clients are treated with “respect and care”.
Stanton Belfast did not respond to requests for comment.
Paula Dennan, from the Abortion Rights Campaign, said: “It is long past time the NI Department of Health ensured that abortion seekers are not misdirected to groups or clinics that will not provide the abortion they need.”
This is not just a problem in Northern Ireland, she added, as rogue crisis pregnancy agencies posing as impartial healthcare centres have existed in the Republic of Ireland for over a decade.
Crisis pregnancy centres are a widespread problem across the US, but some also exist in England.
“There is a concerted effort by anti-abortion groups worldwide to prevent or significantly delay pregnant people from accessing the timely abortion care they need,” said Ms Dennan.
‘I felt so deceived,’ said a woman who sought help from Stanton by mistake
Emma Campbell from Alliance For Choice told i about a phone call she received recently from a woman who wanted an abortion but sought help from Stanton Belfast by mistake.
The woman, who cannot be named, tried to book an appointment with the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) but did not hear back in time.
She got in touch with Stanton instead, thinking she had booked an appointment at an abortion clinic.
They sent her for two scans and when she came back after the second scan still insisting she wanted to go through with the abortion, she claimed that their tone changed suddenly.
“They’ve been so lovely up until that point, and she really felt like they were looking after her,” Ms Campbell said.
A staff member allegedly insisted that she would get “post-abortion syndrome” – a suggested alternative to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) that does not exist according to experts.
Feeling suspicious, the woman went onto the Google reviews of Stanton Belfast and found many negative comments.
“When I read that they purposely delayed other people by sending them off for unnecessary scans, I suddenly realised that they had no intention of sending me for an abortion,” she told Ms Campbell.
“I felt so deceived. I trusted these people. I told them my life story,” she said, adding: “It doesn’t say anywhere on their website that they won’t give you an abortion.”
Politicians and women’s rights groups are calling for access to abortion services in Northern Ireland to be drastically improved.
Chair of the Women and Equalities Select Committee, Ms Nokes, described the current situation as “dire” and called for progress to be made quickly.
“Despite changes in the law the situation for women in Northern Ireland seeking assistance with a termination remains dire,” she told i. “It remains virtually impossible to access advice and support and I welcome the renewed efforts of HM Government to make sure services are commissioned.”
The Conservative MP for Romsey and Southampton North added that progress remains “painfully slow and uncertain”, with some women still having to travel to get an abortion if they are over ten weeks pregnant.
“The stark reality is that by continuing to deprive women of safe and legal help, they are too often pushed into risky procedures out of sheer desperation,” Ms Nokes said, adding: “I am sure none of us want that.”
Mr Lewis, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, told Stormont’s Department of Health last month that a fully-funded abortion service must be set up “within days to weeks” after the High Court ruled he had the legal authority to intervene.
“It is absolutely unacceptable that the Executive and Department of Health have failed women and girls of Northern Ireland, meaning they cannot currently access the same basic abortion healthcare that is available to those in the rest of the UK,” he told i.
“I want to see this vital healthcare service delivered, and properly communicated, to women and girls across Northern Ireland as soon as possible,” he said.
Women’s rights groups have also called for drastic action to improve abortion access for women in Northern Ireland, amid a global uproar following the fall of the landmark Roe V Wade decision.
Kerry Abel, Chair Abortion Rights UK, branded the limited access to abortion for women in Northern Ireland “appalling”, and called for further intervention from the UK Government.
“It is the government’s responsibility to ensure that full and accurate information about how to access abortion provision and where to go is widely publicised and available across Northern Ireland,” she told i.
“In the week that we have seen Roe V Wade overturned in the US, it is vital that we don’t allow anti-abortion campaigners to block women and pregnant people from accessing the reproductive health care they need.”
“No one should need to travel across the Irish Sea anymore to access safe and legal abortion services,” she added.
Leader of the Women’s Equality Party, Mandu Reid, said it is a “travesty” that women in Northern Ireland are still denied access to safe abortions, and branded the “deliberate failure” of anti-abortion politicians to roll out services “disgraceful”.
“Women in Northern Ireland are being held hostage in a way that is nothing short of barbaric,” she told i.
“Efforts by anti-choice campaigners and politicians to restrict access to abortion by preventing women from accessing vital information reveals the ugly truth behind their ‘pro-life’ facade: their real motive is to restrict women’s freedom and bodily autonomy.”
“Abortion is healthcare and it should be free, safe and legal,” Ms Reid added.
Abortion laws in Northern Ireland
If you are up to ten weeks pregnant, you can currently access an early medical abortion in four out of five of the healthcare trusts in Northern Ireland.
The Western Trust, which suspended its early abortion services in April 2021 due to staffing issues, is expected to restart the service as early as July.
Ten weeks means no more than nine weeks and six days since the first day of your last period.
Anyone who wants an abortion can call the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS), according to the Alliance For Choice advice page.
Under the law, pregnant women should be able to access abortions up to 12 weeks, but clinics are not currently providing this service.
You can still access an NHS-funded abortion in England if your gestation period is over ten weeks.
In Northern Ireland, from 12 to 24 weeks pregnant, you can legally get an abortion if continuing the pregnancy would involve a “risk of injury to the physical or mental health of the pregnant woman which is greater than if the pregnancy were terminated”.
This needs to be signed off by two healthcare professionals and does not just have to be a serious illness or foetal abnormality.
An abortion over 24 weeks is permitted in Northern Ireland if:
the termination is necessary to prevent grave permanent injury to the physical or mental health of the pregnant person
the continuance of the pregnancy would involve risk to the life of the pregnant person which is greater than if the pregnancy were terminated
there is severe foetal impairment or fatal foetal abnormality
A spokesperson from the Department of Health in Northern Ireland said there is ongoing planning surrounding how abortion providers can make information “available and accessible”.
They said: “Women residing in Northern Ireland who require advice, counselling or access to abortion services, including early medical abortion services currently available within Northern Ireland or other services currently being provided in England, should contact the central access point provided by the British Pregnancy Advice Service (BPAS).
“Contact details are provided on Health and Social Care Trust and on BPAS websites. Women can also consult their GPs who can advise and signpost them to the appropriate information sources in accordance with their healthcare requirements.
“Ongoing planning for the commissioning of abortion services will include further consideration of how providers make information available and accessible to those requiring these services.”

HSH Febuwhump Day 26 - Forced to Choose
Another to follow the Sky - Wars storyline
----
“If you want my advice, I'd take the deal. It’s the best one he’ll get. And you need to convince him of that.”
“I know,” Warriors murmurs. He lets his frustration seep through his teeth.
Commander Eagus sighs quietly. The man stands beside Warriors in the hospital wing of the barracks, looking in through the window. Sky lay in the hospital wing, on his side so the deep lacerations on his back can be tended to. The knight is asleep, still heavily medicated to help manage his pain. He’d been awake earlier when Sun visited, expression light for the first time in days.
Warriors isn’t looking forward to shattering that happiness.
“I know that he’ll want to stay. He has talent. In just a few short years he came up to be the best of the best in the Loftwings. But that’s not in the cards anymore, son. Even if he stays, he can kiss his career goodbye.” Eagus says in a low voice.
“We could fight it in the trial.” Warriors points out uselessly. He knows it’s not a viable option already. But he can’t help but cling to some vain hope. “There’s a chance his accomplishments will overshadow the insubordination.”
“The Court Martial would just be for show - the higher ups won’t let him get off scot-free. Even though he saved the princess, he did it while directly disobeying their orders. To let Sky get away with it would be to admit they made a foolish choice that would have doomed her. Not to mention the fact that they couldn’t control one of their best pilots. And that he stole his bird for personal use.” Eagus checked over his shoulder to make sure there were no extra ears listening in. “It’s all political. If he isn’t guilty, then they lose face. And you know they won’t let that happen.”
Warriors exhales through his nose. He works hard to unclench his fists. Best to look unaffected. There’s no telling who might be spying on them right now. “What about if Sun testifies?”
“Not happening. And even if it did, by some miracle, it wouldn’t matter. If they want you to be guilty, then you’ll be guilty. You’re not exactly going to be judged by an impartial force. This is a military trial, not a public one.” Eagus frowns sadly at the younger man. “I’m sorry, but you’re not going to win this. At best, he’ll be dishonorably discharged. At worst, jailed for desertion. Talk to him. Convince him. This deal is a one time offer and it’s the best he’s going to get.”
“It’s bullshit.” Warriors grinds out. He has to struggle to keep his voice down. “Leaving quietly is the best option? He worked hard to get here-”
“I know.” Eagus turned to face the young man fully, letting him see the full depth of his sympathy.  “Believe me, Warriors, I know. More than you do. Who do you think trained him to fly? I watched him from his first take off right up til his last cobra maneuver. I’ve seen him rise to every occasion, blow every expectation out of the water. I’ve seen him sweat blood and tears to get where he is. I know how much this means to him. But… this is where it ends. I’m sorry, but there’s no going any further. He made that choice the moment he disobeyed his commanding officer and abandoned his assignment.”
“She would have died if he’d listened to that fucking, pig-headed-” Warriors spat.
Eagus grabbed his arm and gave him a look, silencing Warriors. Down the hall, a young cadet resumed mopping.
The commander released the guardsman when he was sure Warriors would be quiet. “Yes, she would have. You and Sky would have been hours away searching the coast like you were assigned to, and the princess would have been slaughtered at the hands of some religious fanatic. I’m not disparaging your choice. I’m simply stating the outcome. He traded his career for her life. And that’s not a bad thing, but it is what it is.”
The desire to fight, argue, scream, built up in Warriors chest. Warriors turned away from his commander in a move that would usually get him disciplined. But Eagus didn’t fight him. The commander watched as Warriors took a few steps away to calm himself down. It was hard to when Warriors knew Eagus was right. Sky’s military career was over.
But, bafflingly, Warriors’ was not. “Why have I not been given the same treatment? I committed the same crime. And I wasn’t the one who took down Demise.”
“Yes, but you were the one who realized where the enemy was going to be. A sharp mind is much more valuable to the higher ups than a sharp swordsman.” Eagus turned back to the window. “Sky disobeyed to follow your orders. You disobeyed to make your own choice. These two things are worlds apart.”
The commander sighed again, “If it were in any other circumstance, I’d say you should be proud.”
Warriors let out a humorless laugh. “Proud.”
There was no pride in letting his friend take the heat for a choice they both made.
Warriors paused. Then smiled. Maybe he won’t have to.
“Commander,” Warriors turned back to him, lips curled into something resembling a smirk, “You’re right. I should be proud. I did show up those old farts. Who needs stars when you have skill, right?”
Eagus narrowed his eyes. “Careful what you say. You’re not immune to punishment just because you’re talented.”
“No,” Warriors says flippantly, examining his nails, “I’m immune to punishment because I’ll be leaving with my dear friend here.”
Eagus paused, considering. He didn’t like the sudden shift in tone. It made him feel on edge.
“That’s not how getting discharged works.” He says cautiously, weary of Warriors casual attitude. “The offer to leave with full benefit wasn’t extended to you.”
“It wasn’t, but it will be.” Warriors raised his eyes, cold and sharp. “Because I know why they’re offering the deal in the first place. They want to bury their little blunder. Giving Sky an easy way out keeps them from having to hold a trial. And it’ll keep Sun from speaking out. Quick, easy, quiet.”
His lips curl into a full smile, eyes vivid and dangerous. “Which is exactly why they’re going to extend to me the same treatment. If they know what’s good for them.”
---
Wars: You think I can’t get loud? Just ask my bunkmates 👁👅👁
Eagus: I’ll let you leave just please shut up
And I think that concludes my coverage of the guardboys backstories! They bounce with full benefits on the condition they keep their mouths shut and haven’t really looked back.
Sky was sad to go because I think he really loved being a pilot. He took a lot of pride in it and was top of his class. He could have accomplished a lot but he traded that in to save Sun. He has zero regrets.
Warriors was a bit tough for me honestly. I found it a bit hard to balance his general attitude with his place in the military. They seem pretty at odds sometimes. I think he did enjoy being in the guard and was proud of his work, but he takes much more pride in standing with his friend. He didn’t see a way forward without compromising his ideals so he decided to just leave. Besides that I think he joined in large part to make his family happy, so it wasn’t his dream or anything. It was still a sacrifice because he was very loyal to the royal family though.
And it wasn’t clear but these Wars/Sky events are happening just a few weeks after Wild woke up. Once Purah and Robbie realized Wild couldn’t cut it because he was just too open and trusting and didn’t know how to do anything, they kind of just kept him mostly hidden away to keep him from getting discovered by anyone who’d want to hurt him. When Sky and Wars dropped by to explain what happened and say bye, Purah basically threw Wild at them and told them he’d be getting the same deal if he just left quietly. Wild was thrilled (He did not gel with the strict military regime).

The Law Is On Your Side —Protecting Your Rights After a Car Accident
Many people who suffer major injuries as a consequence of carelessness in an automobile accident may find it difficult to comprehend what measures to take next. The trauma of the accident is still with you, and you're not sure how you might support your future claim. Before pursuing any type of claim or prospective lawsuit, you must complete these procedures promptly following the accident. Taking these steps maximizes your chances of successfully pursuing a claim or lawsuit. You can consult a professional and get legal advice today.
Steps to take after an accident
Following an automobile accident, your first responsibility should be to ensure the safety and well-being of all those involved. If anybody is injured, call 911 and report the collision to the police. Even in small crashes, a police report can be useful since it gives an impartial record of the incident.
Move your vehicle to safety.
When an accident happens in the center of the road, you and everyone else involved may be exposed to additional danger from passing cars. If your car is still functional, move it to the side of the road. If your car is unable to proceed, wait until the road is totally free before relocating you and your passengers to the side of the road.
This protects you all from potential risks, particularly if the collision occurs on a busy roadway.
Seek medical attention promptly.
If you are wounded, get medical assistance right away. This is critical not just for your health but also for recording your injuries, which will be useful if you need to submit a claim. Remember that certain injuries may not be immediately visible.
Exchange information.
Regardless of your feelings about the issue, you must communicate with the other individual you believe is to blame for the collision. Do not assume blame; instead, request the information needed to establish a claim. This may include:
The other driver's insurance company's contact information
The other driver's license
The witnesses' contact information
The other driver's contact details
You will offer all of this information to your insurance company and legal team in order to strengthen your claim.
Report the accident.
When you are able, notify the local authorities and your insurance provider about the accident. Many individuals do not believe that the authorities should intervene, but with major property damage and potential injuries, this is a necessary step. It can help you pursue fair compensation because the police record and your initial remarks to your insurance company can serve as valuable proof.

Handling Financial Emergencies: Tips from a Personal Accountant
Tumblr media
Financial emergencies can strike unexpectedly, leaving individuals feeling overwhelmed and unprepared. Whether it's a sudden medical expense, car repair, or job loss, having a plan in place to handle financial emergencies is essential for maintaining financial stability and peace of mind. In this article, we'll explore expert tips from a personal accountant on how to effectively navigate and overcome financial emergencies, with insights from a Financial Services Expert Witness.
Build an Emergency Fund
One of the most effective ways to prepare for financial emergencies is by building an emergency fund. An emergency fund is a reserve of cash set aside specifically to cover unexpected expenses or financial setbacks. Aim to save at least three to six months' worth of living expenses in your emergency fund to provide a financial safety net during challenging times. Start by setting aside a portion of your income each month until you reach your target savings goal.
Prioritize Essential Expenses
When faced with a financial emergency, it's crucial to prioritize essential expenses to ensure that you can cover your basic needs. Start by identifying necessary expenses such as housing, utilities, food, and healthcare. Allocate your available funds towards these essential expenses first, and then assess your remaining resources to address other financial obligations. By focusing on necessities, you can ensure that you maintain financial stability and weather the storm more effectively.
Explore Additional Income Sources
In times of financial crisis, exploring additional income sources can help alleviate financial strain and provide much-needed relief. Consider opportunities to increase your income through part-time work, freelance gigs, or selling unused items. Look for creative ways to generate extra cash and supplement your regular income to bridge the gap during challenging times. Even small amounts of additional income can make a significant difference in managing financial emergencies.
Communicate with Creditors and Lenders
If you're unable to meet your financial obligations due to a financial emergency, don't hesitate to communicate with your creditors and lenders. Many financial institutions offer assistance programs or hardship options for borrowers facing temporary financial difficulties. Reach out to your creditors proactively to discuss your situation and explore potential solutions such as payment deferrals, loan modifications, or alternative repayment arrangements. By being proactive and transparent, you can often find solutions that alleviate financial pressure and prevent further financial hardship.
Seek Expert Financial Advice
Navigating financial emergencies can be challenging, especially if you're unsure of the best course of action. In such situations, seeking expert financial advice from a personal accountant or a Banking Expert Witness can provide invaluable support and guidance. Personal accountants possess specialized knowledge and expertise in financial matters, offering tailored advice and strategies to help individuals navigate financial challenges effectively. Additionally, a Banking Expert Witness can provide impartial analysis and testimony in legal proceedings related to financial matters, offering insights and expertise that can help resolve disputes and achieve fair outcomes.
Review and Adjust Your Financial Plan
After weathering a financial emergency, take the time to review and adjust your financial plan to prevent similar situations in the future. Assess your emergency fund savings goal and make any necessary adjustments to ensure that you're adequately prepared for future emergencies. Review your budget and identify areas where you can cut expenses or increase savings to strengthen your financial resilience. By learning from past experiences and adjusting your financial plan accordingly, you can better prepare for future challenges and maintain financial stability over the long term.
Conclusion
In conclusion, handling financial emergencies requires proactive planning, resourcefulness, and resilience. By building an emergency fund, prioritizing essential expenses, exploring additional income sources, communicating with creditors, and seeking expert financial advice, individuals can effectively navigate and overcome financial challenges. With careful planning and proactive financial management, individuals can build expert witness financial services resilience and weather the storms of life with confidence and peace of mind.
