A star-studded benefit show honoring the late Sinéad O’Connor and Shane MacGowan happens at Carnegie Hall tonight (3/20), and ahead of that, many of the participating artists played a rehearsal show at City Winery on Tuesday (3/19). The loose, casual rehearsal was led by Tony Shanahan (who played in the house band), and included Billy […]
Kat Edmonson is one of my favourite singers. She swings, strolls and flies high with her voice. There is a magical effect on the listener once she wraps up her voice around you. She has many albums out. This singer has several genres in her repertoire, jazz, ballads, folk. However, I love her jazz style the most, her way of taking a note and make it fly with simplicity. It comes with experience.
Take the dreamy tune “When you wish upon a star”, she gives spacing to the music to breathe and comes back with a sentimental approach. You could enjoy so many other songs. “Hopelessly Blue” is one of my favourites on the album “Way down low” (2012) with “Nobody knows that”. In addition, her version of “What a wonderful world” on her album “Dreamers do” (2020) gives a refreshing feeling of happiness. Kat Edmonson has one of the coolest way of touching your soul.
« Nobody knows that » dans l’album « Way down low » (2012) sont une réussite. En plus, sa version de « What a wonderful world » dans l’album « Dreamers do » (2020) donne un coup de fraîcheur à ce morceau. Kat Edmonson a une des façons les plus tendres de toucher votre cœur.

The Brit and the Demon on bicycles! Song name: Just Like Heaven by Kat Edmonson. Was gonna do an gif but no motavation (also im sick) 😥. Anyways enjoy! ❤️
the “false coloured eyes” of course makes me think about vampires using small illusions to hide their silver eyes
“you’re written in her book, youre number 37 have a look” I like to think of it as less ‘she has a book with how many people shes slept with in’ and more ‘she has a book with how many people shes murdered in it’
definitely stressing the ‘fatal’ in femme fatale
Darlin -
“You can tell me to go, and tell me i’m wrong
but someone’s gonna love the wolfman when he’s gone”
after falling in with their ‘wrong crowd’ they’re re-learning how to be cared for. they’re free from quinn having that control over them. they recognise that now they have their family and their mate that loves them- it doesn’t matter what he wants from them
Sam -
“Come in close but come in slowly, now
If you love me, let me know”
honestly the whole song reminds me of him it was hard to just pick one quote so ill talk about them anyways!
the “come in close” is something sam has actually said to darlin because hes always wanting to be closer to them when they’re holding eachother.
the line “we’re too weary hearts aglow now” theyve both been through a lot but can find respite in eachother’s presence.
“still ive often thought that words would only get into your way” he’s not a poet guys!
and the calm casual “if you love me let me know” theres never any pressure from him
Asher -
its not the lyrics its the voice!! i’ve always been reminded of asher when listening to certain days n daze songs!
this one especially because of the high-energy and fast pace! it sounds like theyre having real fun recording it and i think of it as asher and a couple other packmates messing around with instruments at school :)
vincent and lovely -
“if a detour through the park lures you further to the dark
where against a beating heart you feel a spark go through you”
absolutely their first meeting! lovely wandering in the dark through the abandoned the theme park, vincent sensing their heart beat as he flirts with them.
the spark can be either the spark of interest in each other romantically/physically or literally the spark of lovely’s magic (vincent saying he saw fire in their eyes but then realising it was actually electricity).

A St. Paddy's Celebration of Sinéad O'Connor and Shane MacGowan at Carnegie Hall
March 20, 2024
by Everynight Charley Crespo
David Gray, Glen Hansard, Cat Power, Dropkick Murphys, Imelda May, Steve Earle, Josh Ritter, Flogging Molly, Lisa Hannigan, Billy Bragg, Amanda Palmer, Gordon Gano of the Violent Femmes, Craig Finn of the Hold Steady, the Mountain Goats, Bettye LaVette, Eugene Hütz of Gogol Bordello, Julia Cumming of Sunflower Bean, Kat Edmonson, and the Resistance Revival Chorus performed the songs of the late Sinéad O’Connor and Shane MacGowan at a benefit concert at Carnegie Hall on March 20.
In the theatre, they’re called “triple threats,” an actor who can also sing and dance. John & Jessica put the spotlight on some performers who have earned the title, such as Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, and Gregory Hines. You may feel talented just being a good actor, but that’s just the third of it.
Playing tracks by Rosemary Clooney, Gene Kelly, Sweet Charity OBC/Gwen Verdon, Tadataka Unno, Kat Edmonson and more." @RadioDeluxe
