Wierd, unexpected 2022 election results:

Can we talk about how Democrats vulnerable Senate races where for the most part, not even really that close in a Democratic President's midterm who has pretty bad approval raitings?

Pennsylvania had the democrat running +5 in an open senate seat.

That's the same margin that dems kept Arizona's Senate seat: +5.

North Carolina Republicans held the seat by a mear +3. Somthing that definitely suggests the seat is competitive, and in a environment favoring Democrats they could have taken the seat.

In Wisconsin of all things, Republicans only claimed the open seat by +0.99. Less than 1%.

State Races things got even weirder:

Democrats all but ran the table. In the midterm of an unpopular Democrat as President.

The big states for Democrats: Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Wisconsin has been a particularly sore spot for Democrats for years now, given it's severe rightward shift.

And in states where 2024 was not such a source of concern, such as Colorado, Maine and Minnesota, Democrats were mostly just trying to stave off defeats they feared were all too likely.

Democrats won handily over election denying candidates for Governor in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin of all places.

And in Michigan, Democrats secured a trifecta with both legeslative chambers flipping blue for the first time in decades. Further Democratic House candidates outperformed Biden in several Michigan districts.

In Minnesota Democrats won a trifecta.

They held both chambers in Colorado, Maine, Nevada and Oregon.

Thet prevented Republican Supermajorities able to override vetos of a Governor in the North Carolina House and the Wisconsin State Assembly. They did this while being wildly underfunded in state races.

More on Wisconsin:

Unlike many states, where partisan Secretaries of State oversee elections, Wisconsin uses a six-member, bipartisan elections commission.

Unfortunately this leads to 3-3 deadlocks at times--- as it did last month over rules regarding poll watchers.

Republicans openly talked about shutting down the commission outright and giving the power to the Secretary of State or the Governor. However they didn't take the Governorship or win Supermajorities in the state legislative chambers so fuck those ideas.

In Arizona the Attorney General race is a nail-bitter. Former Republican Kris Mayes, who switched to the Democratic Party in 2019, is just 0.02% ahead -- a little over 500 votes Vs his Trump-backed opponent-- a position that could have major ramifications in 2024.

Back in July Republicans hungrily eyed taking control of legeslative chambers in Nevada, Maine, Oregon, and Washington, adding to their target list of Colorado and Minnesota's statehouses.

(Fun fact, Republicans haven't won a state-wide race in Minnesota since 2006). The DFL Minnesota ((Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL) ) remains in control of the State House and the State Senate flipped to Democratic control.

And liberal superpacs SWAMPED the races in ads. (Forward Majority and the States Project in particular, they posted record spending for Dems).

Further, although close, Democrats held off Republican wins for Governor in Kansas and Oregon.

In 2022. With an unpopular democratic president facing his first midterm, battling high inflation and fierce Republican resistance, after passing a host of landlark legislation (with big price tags) not a single state legislative chamber flipped from blue to red. A party in power hasn’t achieved that result in a midterm election year since at least 1934.

Democrats further kept their decades-old majority in the Illinois State Supreme Court, and overall there was no huge upset in the power balance nationwide.

New York was probably Democrats biggest disappointment. Republicans flipped 4-5 seats (two commandingly).

And in Ohio, a state that's seen a severe rightward shift in the last decade -- so much so I don't even consider it a swing-state anymore -- when like every part of the state (save like two) voted more for Democrats than in 2020. J.D. Vance only won by +6. In 2016 Republicans took the Senate seat by an astounding +20.8 points, roughly in line with their 2010 win in a largely Democratic blood-bath.

Overall the results suggest that the next time these Senate seats are up in 2028 -- another midterm year, Ohio and Wisconsin could be extremely close races for Democrats to win.

Suburban voters have also continued their shift blue, a trend starting in 2018, and continued through 2020, and 2022.

Assuming no large shift in the usual cities being huge democratic advantages and rural areas being huge Republican advantages in races, an increasingly diverse (and Millenial) suburban voter is critical to control of national and state-wide races. These increased voting blue under Trump and that has only continued despite overall what should be Republican-friendly environments.

I know the general consensus is that spamton is the gangs wierd uncle but I can imagine him being a strange and unhinged maternal person. Like, Kris enters the dark world but they have a cold or the flu, and Spamton finds out and he's like "LITTLE [sponge] YOU CAN'T BE [offering lifetime deals!] LIKE THIS!!! ARE YOU [cough syrup, 4.99!]???? MY GOD, YOUR FOREHEAD IS [hot hot hot deals!] !!! YOU NEED TO S LEE P!!!" And it evolves into spamton ramming cough drops into kris's face and constantly checking their temp bc he's scared their brain will melt in their head or something

Makimg a new AU because why the fuck not. Main changes of this is that it merges Deltarune with Earthbound, two of my three favorite games.

Main change is that Deltarune has this wierd thing called PSI. Think of it as if it were Magic, but only certain individuals, more common in Humans, but monsters like Sans do have it, can use it, and they are referred to as Psionics, or Psychics. At base level, a Psychic can only move things around with their mind and use telepathy. Powerful Psychics like King Poo and the deceased couple Ness and Paula, along with Ness' elder cousin Ninten, can heal entire body parts, cause a tremendous amount of lightning to strike from their hands, and even shake stars to send small, 4 foot droplets of plasma hurtling towards the enemy. Other, more specific PSI users tend to practice only a handful of PSI, such as Sans and his powerful Telekinesis, PSI Beams (in replacement of Gaster Blasters because fuck those appearantly, they don't exist in canon of Deltarune as far as I'm aware), and Warpslip Ω, an ability thought to only be usable by Ninten as an Alpha PSI ability, can use far more powerful versions of weaker PSI or more situational PSI, s seen with Sans and his PK Beam Ω, which was thought to be impossible to perform before he performed it.

For those who aren't aware of Earthbound, why haven't you played it, the entire series is actually pretty fucking good, Undertale was inspired by the fuckers. Back on track, for those who don't really know how PSI works, I'll just give the three categories and and four...five power levels. Remember that certain PSI do not follow the rules of Power Levels, such as, before Sans cracked the code, Warpslide being only one power level and only ever being used to teleport short distances away from the enemy. The categories are Offensive, Healing, and Support. Offensive are all psionic abilities that are orientated towards harming your foe, utilizing emotions, energies, or brute psychic power to damage foes. Healing is anything that helps heal the body, either from things like Stone, Diamondization, Poison, or healing body parts. Assist is generally Defense, Ability Enhancers, Shields, and certain variations of signature PSI abilities (Ninten used to have Warpslip, Ness has PK Rockin', with variations called PK Origin and PSI Rockin', two twins, who live in Hometown, recently moved, named Lucas and Claus, have PK Love, and Kris has PK Prankin', subject to change, but that's the only thing I got about their personality other than they were somewhat creepy). Now, Power Levels. Alpha is the weakest level, then Beta is the second weakest. Gamma is basically the highest some go, but is the second weakest. Omega isnthe strongest any PSI user can use an ability at, unless you are a cosmic eldritch deity of hate and evil, then nobody can even comprehend your attacks, let alone take the attack without being basically the universe's chosen hero against said cosmic horror.

Not much else changes, except that Claus and Lucas join the Fun Gang, Ness and Paula are Kris' biological parents, Kris is a Psychic, weak at first and better off hitting things with their sword, but will get to the Lightning Power of his mother in due time, and there is no Snowgrave route. The variation is just Kris being consumed by the idea that their Psionic Powers could reach such levels as to kill gods, and basically abandons all reason and becomes a murderous maniac who electrocutes, incinerates, and freezes all creatures in his path, eventually leading them to become possessed by a piece of Giygas (the aforementioned cosmic horror) and Chara is just out of the picture now because fuck them, they backseated the Genocide Run and couldn't kill Giygas even with a timeline reset. If Chara is evil, then Giygas has mastery over them because he is basically the Incorporeal God of Psionic Abilities, Malice, Hatred, and pure and unbridled Evil. Luckily, that is also an alternate timeline to the canon Deltabound AU.

So something I’ve noticed.

I can tell a lot of people haven’t gotten some things about Deltarune, don’t know whether it’s too subtle for them, or if they’re unknowingly just falling back to some now entrenched ideas. The Snowgrave/Wierd/Pepis/Genocide/Mindbreak the Nice Reindeer Girl Route, as well as Jevil-Spamtom-Whoever the bonuses on the later chapters will be also do it, as well as an even bigger problem, that seems to come from not getting that it’s not Undertale 2. More below the cut

it’s not Kris doing these things, in fact Kris seems to obviously not like it. You get back after the Berdley battle and winner winner frozen chicken dinner, and Susie and Ralsei notic that Chris is, excuse the language, fucking horrified at what YOU did, and when he wants to act on his own, he rips out your connection to him, his SOUL. Hell so far the bonus bosses have even pointed this out hard, with Spamtom NEO being so incredibly on the nose that even somebody blind could see it, he’s not the only one in the fight with strings holding him up.

And hoo boy the whole route to getting Spamtom Neo as the final boss, where you, not Kris, but you the player, decide to break the mind of Noelle. It’s subtle, but if you actually pay attention, it becomes a better, “dude, what the fuck” moment than the full Genocide rout of Undertale, because there’s literally no getting around that it’s you the player doing it, it’s you the player using Kris for a bit, just to get into Noelle’s head, she thinks it’s Kris, but who merely whispers their new plaything’s name to snowgrave the Snowgrave Route’s Spamtom Neo after Kris calls for his two friends, and they don’t come? You, You whisper Noelle’s name and like the good, now broken, girl she is, she comes running and kills an enemy. And see above, Kris is likely fucking horrified both because of what Noelle’s become and what YOU have done.

And speaking of Undertale, dear lord, how has it been nearly three years and people are still acting like this is Undertale 2? Toby might be known for reusing some things (Megalovania, certain other melodies, characters), but he’s from the RPG era I’m from, where even if you reuse models and names, the characters, sounds or even themes can be the same and have it be totally different. Like this is the ear when the Lunar, Mother, and Breath of Fire series were the odd ones out. Where the Mana series/style led to literally YEARS of Secret of Evermore being considered someplace in there even though it’s a totally separate game with no ties. It’s not Undertale 2 so, and I’m going out on limb here, you’re not going to have a lot of the same things that were explained or put in in Undertale (monsters turn to dust, W.D. Gaster being a meta joke about dummied out characters, a simple genocide run, Humans being the special species with DETERMINATION). Hell the Hometown of Chapter 1 kinda points this out with how incredibky weird things are compared to Undertale. Undyne has both eyes, and doesn’t know who Alphys is, Bratty and Catty aren’t friends, hell they’re not your basic queen bee types, Mettaton never got his body, Asgore and Toriel aren’t together, but not because Asgore (intentionally, see the theory on December Holiday) killed kids, but because of something else.

In short on this portion, You are an edlritch entity controlling a troubled kid, who has the power to make his life better or fuck with everybody else in horrifying ways in a world that might have familiar faces, but is vastly different.

Now the second part. The December Holiday incident.

So Chapter 2 (and parts of Chapter 1′s Hometown section) brought to light something that might have really screwed up Kris, Toriel and Asgore’s marriage, The Holidays, and hell might even be the whole reason Kris is absolutely 100% able to be used by you (remember, you are an eldritch being who’s making these puppets, especially Kris, dance on your strings). It’s what I call the December Holiday Incident.

So we know that Noel has an older sister named Dess, and given some context, it’s probably short for December because of the Calendar in Noelle’s, “Algorythmically Generated” Room and the fact that she froze up on an easy word like December at the spelling bee, and her family’s theme naming (Rudolph, Noel-le). We also know that Kris, Noelle, Dess, and Azzy used to play together, and something happened.

My theory is that the Dreemur and Holiday kids were playing around that bunker or whatever it is down south, during the winter (becomes important with Noelle), and Dess went missing, like out of the blue missing. Asgore and everybody starts searching, because the cops really have nothing better to do, Winter turns to Spring (all the while Noelle is searching up to see if she’s turned up somewhere, because she searched December Holiday enough that Queen caught it), and it comes around, and Asgore gives up, either because he found Dess and there was evidence of Kris being involved, or He figured out where she went and likely had Noelle’s mom on his back to hide whatever it was, either way, he looks incompetent, and like he or somebody he knows may have just killed her, leading to his stepping down, Toriel can’t forgive this and divorces him and because it’s because of what happened for him to step down, she gets both Azzy and Kris. Any way it goes, there’s something about December Holiday, winter, her missing, that bunker thing and all of Asgore’s problem, as evidenced by Noelle and certain breadcrumbs about what happened. So no, Asgore probably didn’t kill a kid, but he may have, through intentional or unintentional negligence killed a kid and that’s why he’s where he is, why he’s treatin Rudy (his best friend) like a romantic partner, why Kris (before you et your little fingers in him) is probably a troubled kid, and why Noelle is so big on ice and has her moments of trauma.

Anygays, my brain is semi-dead rn, but I will attempt to continue with the theory thing.

Like I said, it's implied that Kris has made Dark worlds before, with the text when you first save in Chapter 1.

This is reaching into more conspiracy theory territory, but my headcanon/theory/idea is that Kris takes a bit of our Determination when they rip us out, to keep them moving and use it to create the dark world.

However, there is possibly a different source trying to control them as well, one that isnt as good as we're supposed to be. Remember, when we first go into chapter 2, it sounds like we killed Toriel, but she comes up into our room. This is probably then a nightmare, in which Kris either worries about losing control and us making them kill everyone, or this other force making them do it instead.

So I don't have anything to really like directly contradict/argue what you said, but I don't understand how you came to the conclusion that Kris = Knight AND Kris = The one who corrupted Jevil and Spamton?

Like the way Seam talks is that Jevil's corruption happened ages ago, while the Knight comes to the Card World was pretty recent. It's also heavily implied that Gaster is the one who corrupted both Jevil and Spamton, with Seam and Spamton making references to darkness, the garbage noises message with our phone and Spamton's phone, and both Spamton and Jevil's themes having bits of Gaster's Theme in it (this is really weak evidence since G's Theme is a 4-note arpeggio and really simple, but still).

I do agree that I think both us and Kris are being manipulated by someone else. Like I think some other character has an agenda that involves us, the player, taking control of Kris, but I'm not sure WHAT that agenda is. I think it's Gaster again, based on the Tweets leading to DR's release and the text type number during the Vessel creation being 666 (6's are very commonly associated with Gaster but I'd be going off track if I went into that)

I dont know if this is just me projecting, but i imagined Kris as being ~15, i.e just having started highschool. I also headcanon Susie as being a year older than Kris and the others in their class, as she was held back one year. Also, if Ralsei ends up actually being Asriel, hes at least eighteen, which is wierd.
