Chaewon

Love: I believe that Chaewon is still in her relationship, however her partner is currently overseas for work which is giving her some opportunity to enjoy being alone by herself and spend more time with her friends and members 

Career: she thought that her career would stay as it is, but I see some issues concerning her sponsorship inside the company. Hopefully this will be solved to avoid any problem in the future 

Self: she has been very stubborn lately and the only thing in her energy and mind is money and how she should spend her money. I believe that Chaewon might have developed some unhealthy wealth lifestyles. 

Sakura

Love: she is back at being single (although she wasn’t dating in summer and now but she had been seeing someone regularly). However lately the person havent shown any interest in seeing her. She has been trying ti distract herself with other people 

Career: she feels like she is giving too much of herself. Sakura is probably overworked and has many rsponsabilites in the group, some that she struggles to solve and go through. Too many burdens that cause her health to detoriate 

Self: despite everything, she is very happy with he recognition she is getting so far, and she keeps working hard to keep it. I feel like Sakura is the type of person that depends way too much on public opinion to be okay 

Yunjin

Love: single too, she havent seen many people lately and has been way too much drown on her work to think about her dating life. Yunjin also feels like being too distorted with love at the moment. She wants to be left alone 

Career: just like sakura, she also feels like her work ii staking way too much of her energy. She feels exhausted. She probably have been dealign with some chest pains as well during her schedules. She needs rest urgently 

Self: she is going through a rough time, a lot of chalenges head of herself and she still doest know how to deal with all of it. I also feel like Yunjin is in competition with another LSS member 

Kazuha

Love: Kasha has been rejected by her crush after she has confessed to them. Ever since she has been repressing her emotions a lot while pretending she wasn’t affected by it (but in fact, she was). 

Career: she is very restless and I start believing that all members feel exhausted with their schedules and with all the pressure they receive. Kasha has also been very impulsive and whenever she feels overwhelmed she can lash out on other members 

Self: her mental health isnt the best at the moment. She probably is suffering from anxiety and perhaps some depressive episodes that can be quite harsh on her. She feels lost 

Eunchae

Love: for now, Eunchae is still dating her partner that she was already dating later in summer 2023. It seems that for now things are going back to normal and a little less toxic that what it was back then. Yet I still believe she needs to be careful 

Career: she has lost a very important opportunity of sponsorship due to her schedules being to tight and having no way to assume the responsibility of doing these project. This have left her very upset

Self: at the moment she is going through a period of self doubts and decisions that she needs to take for her life and her career. Things aren’t as easy as she thought it would be

imagine, if you will, jack kelly birthday:

he wakes up and the first thing he hears is the shouts of other boys, already singing happy birthday to him and calling him an old chap. it's always a big deal, birthdays for the newsboys, and the guys don't let it go for the entire day - maybe they even treat jack to a drink at tibby's (or jacobi's, whichever you prefer to think of) or race gives him a cigar.

jack takes it all with a smile, enjoying that everyone treats him nicely and loving all the dicking around.

what he doesn't expect is that david seemingly forgot? or he's ignoring the fact that it's Cowboy's Birthday today, because when the guys loudly remind him, david just nods, not bothering to say anything to jack, going with his usual routine of selling papers.

jack is kinda sorta really sad because of this because, hey, his best friend just forgot? but he doesn't push it.

the second thing jack doesn't expect is what happens over at david's. he gets an invitation for dinner, and he agrees. david's parents, sarah and les also don't mention the specialty of the day, but hey, at least the meal is warm, so jack isn't complaining.

then it gets weird. when everyone's done, there's some leftovers left - logically, jack gives them to les, knowing him well enough to know his appetite. everyone else though, including les, ushers him to eat instead. then, when jack gets up to gather the dishes and carry them over to the kitchen, he gets practically yelled at. confused, he finally agrees to stay in the kitchen and eat the leftover kasha while the entire jacobs family carries a few plates to the kitchen.

and then they come back, with a cake and singing for jack, and jack is left there, surprised, his fork halfway to his mouth, and he can't help but laugh a little, just because he's delighted. he feels a warm fuzziness in his chest, he feels dizzy with the idea that the jacobses (who lately barely make ends meet because of mayer's injury) went out of their way for *him*.

they eat the cake, jack gets personalized birthday wishes from everyone, and even a hug from mayer- then, when he's about to leave, david nags him to follow him up to the rooftop.

when they're up there, david fumbles with something hidden behind the planter while jack looks down at the streets of new york and rambles about something. and then, david pulls out a little package, and walks over to where jack is standing.

"happy birthday, jack," he says, and the fond look on his face is more than enough to knock all air out of jack's lungs.

jack unwraps the gift, and inside there's a little book, it has a cowboy on the front. jack is already jittery with the joy he's feeling, but when he looks inside and sees for My Cowboy written so neatly in davey's handwriting, with a little heart next to it, he's pretty much over the moon.

"i thought you didn't want me leaving for the west," he says eventually, stupidly, unable to think of anything proper.

"i don't," davey admits, "that's why i bought you this. you get your cowboy fantasies right here, in new york, in this book, and i get to keep you. it's a win-win," he jokes, but not really, and it's very clear from the glint in his eye just with how much adoration he looks at jack.

jack is smitten, but he tries to keep his cool, a sly smile on his face. "bold of you to think i'd ever leave you."

all in all, the best gift jack got that day was probably the kiss from davey which he got on the roof, under the moon, right where he wants to be forever.

My Opinion About the Vexicons

I touched on this in an earlier post, but I thought I'd discuss it in more detail.

I like the idea of the Vexicons. They were evil counterparts to the Mysticons, but they looked different enough that there wouldn't be an episode of them causing the public to distrust the Mysticons, which is a trope that annoys me (though Mysticons did find ways to make episodes I normally wouldn't like enjoyable, so maybe they'd make it work). Plus, the Mysticons, especially Arkayna and Zarya, were trying to make Proxima feel included. Because of this, and how Proxima felt as though she wasn't part of the family, I think creating evil counterparts to the Mysticons was a good choice.

I also like how Proxima tried to have the Vexicons act like a family, either my wanting them to celebrate Lotus Night together or being angry when the other Vexicons left Eartha behind. This shows that there is the part of her that wants family, making her interesting as a villain.

However, there were some things I didn't like about the Vexicons. The biggest thing was that, other than the family aspect I mentioned earlier, they didn't really use the Vexicons as foils to the Mysticons. Apart from Eartha, none of the Mysticons had an episode where there were parallels between the Mysticons and their Vexicon counterparts. And the thing is, this would be relatively easy to do. For Arkayna, perhaps her bossiness would get the better of her (maybe there's an episode where she gets the other Mysticons to go with her for something that might save her parents, and is too focused on that to pay attention to her team), Zarya could blow off a promise to do something she wants to do, only to see Kasha leaving Willa behind for glory, and maybe Piper could get obsessed with pranks, only to see how careless pranks can get out of hand through Willa (I know that's a childish episode, but I just picked first premises that came to mind).

While Eartha and Em did have an episode where they played off against each other in "Heart of Stone", there is a problem that's unique to Eartha. While her turning good was heartwarming, the fact that she was shown to not really be evil (fighting with honor, etc) kinda cheapens the whole "evil counterpart". It's like they couldn't think of what an evil Em would be like. Also, if the show continued, it would be weird to use the Vexicons, as it would be the four Mysticons against the three Vexicons. In short, while turning good was good for Eartha as a solo character, it hurt the Vexicons as a concept.

In summary, the Vexicons was an interesting idea, and having the Vexicons helped Proxima's character. However, as villains, there were issues that made them les compelling in my opinion.

Hace daño de aire, quita 4 PA y 3 PM (esquivables).

Piránime: Solo puede usar este ataque si esta en el estado Chacanubis. Ataque cuerpo a cuerpo que puede usarse 3 veces x turno, 1 vez x objetivo. Hace muy fuertes daños de agua y pone el estado Pacifista x 1 turno

Momístico

Herencia Hipermaga: Este hechizo se activa al inicio del combate. ➤ Si el Momístico recibe daño de tierra, entra en el estado Tierra y empieza a recibir solo el 50% de los daños tipo tierra hasta el inicio de su turno. ➤ Si el Momístico recibe daño de fuego, entra en el estado Fuego y empieza a recibir solo el 50% de los daños tipo fuego hasta el inicio de su turno. ➤ Si el Momístico recibe daño de agua, entra en el estado Agua y empieza a recibir solo el 50% de los daños tipo agua hasta el inicio de su turno. ➤ Si el Momístico recibe daño de aire, entra en el estado Aire y empieza a recibir solo el 50% de los daños tipo aire hasta el inicio de su turno. ➤ Si el Momístico recibe daño de tierra, fuego, agua y aire antes de iniciar su turno, el Momístico hace una animación especial. Desactiva la reducción de daño de "Herencia Hipermaga" hasta que inicie su turno.

Sustitución Maldita: No puede usarlo en el estado Pesante. Ataque de alcance medio, lo lanza 2 veces x turno, 1 vez x objetivo. Intercambia posición con el jugador y le hace daños de agua

Venduso

Moco Erosivo: Si el Venduso es empujado por un jugador, le da un malus de 40% de incurables y un veneno neutral. Ambos efectos duran 2 turnos y son deshechizables Baila como una momia: El Venduso saca los pasos prohibidos y hace daño de tierra en área. Gana 100 de potencia durante 3 turnos.

Cariño: Ataque lineal de buen alcance. Hace daño de fuego y avanza 5 casillas hacia el objetivo.

Malignotep

Monstruo exclusivo de mazmorra Garrasadoras: Lo usa 2 veces x turno, 1 vez x objetivo. Hace daño de tierra, empuja 6 casillas y gana un bonus de +100 a los daños x empuje x 4 turnos.

Llegada Aniquiladora: Solo lo puede usar en diagonal. Lo usa 2 veces x turno, 1 vez x objetivo. Se teletransporta a la casilla objetivo, hace daño de aire y gana un bonus de +100 a los daños x empuje x 4 turnos.

Maldición de la Pirámide: Lo lanza al inicio del combate

La Presencia del Gato en la Cultura Japonesa

Dando un rápido vistazo a cualquier cosa relacionada con la cultura pop japonesa podrás ver que a Japón le encantan los gatos: Hello Kitty, Neko cafés, Orejas de gato electrónicas que responden a tu estado emocional, etc. Pero si bien por un lado les encanta por otro les tienen miedo o a veces hasta un cierto disgusto ya que dentro de su folklore se encuentran a menudo gatos con poderes sobrenaturales y a veces hasta aterradores, desde los caprichosos y mágicos cambiaformas (bakeneko) hasta los horrendos demoníacos devoradores de cadáveres (kasha)

Dentro del folklore japonés se encuentran a menudo gatos con poderes sobrenaturales y a veces hasta aterradores. Nadie sabe exactamente cuándo ni cómo los gatos llegaron a Japón aunque la conjetura más aceptada es que viajaron por la ruta de la seda desde Egipto hasta China y Corea. Luego fueron traídos en barcos, cruzaron el mar hacia Japón y llegaron como cazadores de ratones para salvaguardar los preciosos sutras budistas escritos en vitela o como obsequios costosos intercambiados entre emperadores para ganarse el favor del otro. Existe un primer registro confirmado de un gato en Japón, donde se puede establecer con certeza de que ya por ese tiempo rondaban la isla y esto se encuentra en un antiguo diario escrito por el Emperador Uda allá por el año 889 d.C.: “En el día 6 del segundo mes del primer año de la era Kampo. Tomando un momento de mi tiempo libre, deseo expresar mi alegría por el gato. Llegó en barco como regalo al difunto emperador, recibido de manos de Minamoto no Kuwashi.El color del pelaje es incomparable. Ninguno pudo encontrar las palabras para describirlo, aunque uno dijo que recordaba a la tinta más profunda. Tiene un aire al respecto, similar a Kanno. Su longitud es de 5 soles y su altura es de 6 soles. Puse un lazo alrededor de su cuello, pero no permaneció por mucho tiempo" Y así continúa por unas líneas más, describiendo al animal y la conducta que adopta en las diferentes situaciones que el Emperador estuvo observando. Los gatos llegaron a Japón y a lo largo de los siglos, se multiplicaron y extendieron hasta que en el siglo XII eran comunes en toda la isla. Fue entonces cuando su presencia comenzó a tener transformaciones un poco más sobrenaturales. Desde hace varios siglos, Japón tiene la creencia popular de que cuando las cosas viven por mucho tiempo, éstas manifiestan poderes mágicos. Hay muchas historias antiguas que explican la creencia en esto como es el caso de los zorros, los tanuki, las serpientes e incluso objetos como sillas o paraguas y sombrillas. Sin embargo, los gatos parecen ser algo únicos en el sinfín de poderes que pueden manifestar y su multitud de formas, quizás se deba a que no son autóctonos de Japón.

Si combinamos la naturaleza misteriosa natural de los gatos, su capacidad para estirarse en proporciones aparentemente antinaturales, el poder caminar sin hacer ruido y sus ojos brillantes que cambian de forma en la noche resulta ser la receta perfecta para tenerlos por animal mágico. La primera aparición conocida de un gato sobrenatural en Japón llegó en el siglo XII donde según los informes, un enorme gato de dos colas, apodado nekomata, acechaba en los bosques de lo que ahora es la prefectura de Nara, para devorar hombres. Dado que la zona estaba rodeada de montañas y bosques, los cazadores y los leñadores iban regularmente a estos bosques alrededor de la ciudad para trabajar y comerciar. Siendo siempre precavidos de los peligros comunes dentro de un bosque, este monstruo mágico estaba mucho más allá de lo que estaban acostumbrados. Según los diarios locales de la época, hubo varias víctimas de los nekomata que por descripciones de los que habían sobrevivido a sus ataques, se parecía más a un tigre de dos colas que a las mimadas mascotas del emperador Uda. De hecho, al haber ya comercio con China y el continente, el nekomata bien pudo haber sido un tigre, posiblemente como parte de una colección de animales salvajes. Hacia finales del siglo XII, las historias de los nekomata y los gatos sobrenaturales quedaron en el olvido por varios siglos. No fue sino hasta el período Edo (1603-1867) cuando la población de gatos mágicos de Japón se desbordó ya que el país experimento un florecimiento del arte y la cultura con el teatro Kabuki, las pinturas Ukiyoe, las Geisha, las primeras impresiones de material de lectura. Con esto los artístas y escritores descubrieron que podían crear y representar sucesos mágicos y seres sobrenaturales que se conocieron con el nombre de Yokai.

El bakemono podía transformarse en humano y salían solo por la noche. Con todo tipo de creaciones fue en esta época que apareció una nueva especie de gato sobrenatural: el bakeneko, que cambia de forma. A medida que Japón se urbanizaba, las poblaciones de gatos y humanos compartían el mismo espacio y como los gatos estaban por todas partes, no solo como mascotas domésticas y cazadores de ratones, sino también los había que no tenían dueño y se alimentaban de las sobras que les daban los comerciantes, pescaderos y cocineros. El bakeneko podía transformarse en humano y en las casas japonesas, al estar iluminadas principalmente por lámparas de aceite de pescado, los gatos lamían el aceite lo que hacía que por la noche, a la luz brillante de la lámpara, se proyectaba enormes sombras en las paredes, aparentemente transformándose en enormes criaturas de pie sobre sus patas traseras mientras lamían el aceite, haciéndolos parecer humanos. Se creía que los gatos que vivían más de lo normal se habían convertido en estos bakeneko, habiendo matado a sus dueños y ocupando su lugar. Alrededor de 1781, comenzaron a correr rumores de que algunas de las cortesanas de los distritos amurallados en la ciudad capital de Edo no eran humanas, sino que se habían transformado en bakeneko. Eventualmente, estas historias se expandieron más allá de estas mujeres para abarcar también a los actores de kabuki, artistas y comediantes. Se creía que cuando estos gatos salían de sus casas por la noche, se ponían kimonos, sacaban sake y el shamisen y básicamente organizaban fiestas desenfrenadas antes de escabullirse de vuelta a casa al amanecer. Estas historias resultaron irresistibles para los artistas que produjeron ilustraciones donde mostraban el mundo salvaje de gatos bailando y bebiendo hasta altas horas de la noche. Los gatos fueron representados como híbridos humano-gato antropomórficos (aunque los bakeneko también eran capaces de cambiar de forma a formas completamente humanas). Se movían en el bajo mundo, fumaban en pipa y jugaban a los dados.

Se creía que cuando estos gatos salían de sus casas por la noche, se ponían kimonos, sacaban sake y el shamisen. Por otro lado, el kasha, un demonio del infierno que se alimenta de cadáveres, alguna vez fueron gatos domésticos normales. Según cuentan las historias, el olor de los cadáveres los llenó de un deseo tan abrumador y de darse un festín que con sus poderes nigrománticos se decía que eran capaces de manipular cadáveres como marionetas, haciéndolos levantarse y bailar. La historia del kasha sigue siendo parte de la cultura dentro de los servicios funerarios. En Japón, después de la muerte de un ser querido, es costumbre realizar un velorio donde se lleva el cuerpo a la casa y se reúne la familia. A causa de lo que cuentan las historias, los gatos se sacan de la habitación donde se realiza el velorio ya como parte de una superstición. Se pensaba que algunas criaturas felinas, como los neko musume, eran híbridos gato-humano que habían nacido de la maldición de un gato sobre los fabricantes del instrumento tradicional shamisen, el cual usa tambores estirados con pieles de gatos. Cuenta una leyenda que un fabricante de shamisen se volvió muy codicioso y fue maldecido con una hija neko musume como venganza. En lugar de hija humana, crió un gato de forma humana que era incapaz de hablar y comía ratas.

Maneki-neko, una de las figuras de gatos más apreciadas en Japón por traer buena suerte. Pero también en el folklore japonés, los gatos son símbolo de la buena suerte y con poderes protectores. Por lo mismo, quizás el gato sobrenatural más venerado sea el maneki-neko que cuenta la leyenda que hace siglos, un señor feudal, estaba parado debajo de un árbol cuando vio a un gato que curiosamente lo saludaba con la mano como pidiendo que se acercara a él. El señor feudal se acercó al gato y un momento después un rayo cayó sobre el árbol en el que antes se encontraba el señor feudal. De esta manera, el noble reconoció que el gato lo llamaba para protegerlo del rayo que estaba por caer. A partir de esta historia muchos comercios, establecimientos y restaurantes en Japón, exhiben la figura del maneki-neko en sus escaparates y ventanas para dar buen augurio a la tienda, al dueño y a los clientes. Y ya para terminar, existe la isla de Tashirojima, una isla donde el número de gatos supera al número de personas por más de cinco a uno, por lo que es conocida como la "Isla de los Gatos".

Pictured below is Rotterdam, NL based band Lewsberg. In November the band will play the Sonic City festival here in Kortrijk, on the Low-curated day, and that makes me happy because I have missed them every time up till now. Not sure if they’re going to be a very exciting live band, but the two records I own from them are very good - It’s too easy to compare them to The Velvet Underground of course, but the latest record “In Your Hands” is even simpler and more sober than their previous work and with that record the band is more introspective as ever and moving slowly away from the jangling guitars into more slow pop oriented ways with spoken word vocals on top of the repetitive riffs. The band releases all their albums themselves and this way they are the definition of DIY. My kind of band. I played the two tracks at the end of the album in this show, the last track is actually a continuation of the one before that and I couldn’t just stop after the first track. So, go and see them in Kortrijk, it will be autumn by then. More music in this show comes from Nag, who were brilliant in The Pit’s, Buck Biloxi, The Cassandra Complex, Ruth, Lizzie Mercier Descloux, Sarah Davachi, Sewer Election & Charmaine Lee.
