For key programming, IM608 has broader coverage than my previous MK908. I’ve already used it to solve adding keys, adding remote controls, all key lost problems on Toyota, Nissan and more. A fantastic product — an excellent car key programmer!

I have VVDI MB and VVDI Full, along with IM608 and 908P. VVDI is significantly superior, especially in MB programming, than 908P. IM608 is improving gradually, so I can’t let go of them yet. VVDI MB’s password function is even faster than AVDI’s, though it can’t handle W163 via OBD2 or EEPROM. VVDI Full covers the majority of Tango functions. However, no single tool can handle everything currently.

So my phone is so crap and filled with bloatware THAT'S ATTACHED TO INTERNAL SYSTEMS SO I CAN'T DELETE IT LIKE THE BLOATWARE BUILT IN APPS that I had to uninstall Tumblr on my phone so that it'd actually work again.
the mobile website is pretty bad. It's laggy, it won't refresh so I have the find out how to get back to recent posts instead of only seeing 2 days old stuff, and the UI is different.
I'd say the only positive is that it's got a dark theme on and gifs don't crash my phone anymore.
Yeah this was a rant and review about mobile page Tumblr. Also does anyone know how to free up more internal space? Well, more than just going into the phone to delete pre-installed apps as I've done that already.

Perihelion Freed
My apologies to the original poster to whom I'm going to respond--I didn't catch your name or reblog your post when it came across my dash because I didn't expect to keep coming back mentally to your stance on Perihelion, free will, and the University's potential blind spot between their ship and their... discrete... work, out in the borderlands. I don't even know if it was a recent post or something that someone I follow reblogged. If you find me, hi!
Another blogger posited that Perihelion doesn't have free will, that things are hard-coded out of its mental architecture, and that the Newtideland crew may be hypocritical for using basically an enslaved ship to free basically slaves.
I'm not sure whether this was "a take on the idea" or whether it was "this is canonical and fucked up," so I apologize if you (cool previous blogger) were just investigating the concept!
It stuck with me, though, the idea that Perihelion (as opposed to The Perihelion, the ship+mind=entity that is akin to body+mind=soul) may or may not have free will, and how there's a lot more to investigate in the interactions if it doesn't, and the crew is either oblivious or "one must imagine Perihelion happy," and in a state of grace, as I believe the blogger mentioned.
Sure, there's a lot of mileage in "even the best have their blindspots," and the edges where what Peri does with and for Murderbot might run against its programming, and whether it would adjust its programming or whether it even could contemplate doing so.
But from my recall of the text, I don't believe the coding and architecture for enslavement is present in Peri.
It makes the choice to let MB on board because it IS bored: it is capable of boredom; if someone were to design an entity with specific reactions and capabilities, both the Bad Designers and Good Designers would skip the capacity for boredom and tedium, wouldn't they? To do otherwise is either pointless or cruel.
I guess you could say that boredom is the other side of the curiosity that Peri needs to help its crew and students with class and scientific endeavors, but that gets into the weeds about what is and is not programmable or required for specific emotions; we can't guarantee that you need one to have the other.
Peri chooses to accept MB, rather than actually being enticed and/or ignorant like a regular bot pilot. It chooses to help MB customize itself, messes with its recycler logs, and forges its captain's signature at least once; I can't imagine even the most Star Trek utopian creator, if able to lock in specifics to the point that an AI has personality and goodwill but not free will, would leave in operating code that would permit that sort of gross overstep (not that it was morally wrong, but it's something no one ever contemplates ART is capable of because--it shouldn't be?)
It lies by omission when it doesn't relate what KIND of construct MB is even when it chooses to tell its crew. giving MB privacy and opportunity that an enslaved AI might not be able to do (and after it went to the effort to change its logs, which makes me think it's choosing also to tell port authorities one thing and then choosing again to verbally tell its favorite people other things). It has a "debris deflection system" which comes off to me as... "using the label as robotically an as possible as another lie of omission" BECAUSE its intentions are beyond the scope of what it "should" be capable of doing/thinking... if it was a supercharged but enslaved AI.
The tabletop game Eclipse Phase has "AGI" that have to grow and be developed like people in order to BE proper people (metapossibly to lighten some of the strangeness between PC and player, since if you grow up in a simulation, you've got more in common with your player...).
There's nothing I can recall in TMB to indicate this is the case--we know MB is Athena, formed fully-shaped from cloned tissue, parts, and pre-trauma, but MB has no idea what ART is or how it could be the way it is--MB considers at one point that it might be a construct, but the vibe I get from ART is way too... glassily alien, sometimes, for human tissue.
What if... Newtideland laid down the basic code and parameters of "this is a person," maybe yes, seeded in some "curiosity," or "willingness to figure things out," but maybe no more than any kid starts with parents' nature and nuture to shape their own trellises...
And then they presented the thing-that-would-be-Peri with options, maybe even classes, and it coasted through History of Economy because this is a utopia, damnit, and didn't find much to grab its attention in... Inventory Management, but then.
Then it slips into a small drone ship completely covered in "student driver" stickers and it spreads its stubby sensors out to encompass... everything. And it moves, and the more it moves the more there is to move through, and it feels this sense of rightness.
It comes back, and a kid, human classmate, asks it what's it like out there and through Peri's eyes, but you don't have eyes--. It explains, and the kid asks a question that young-will-be-Peri doesn't know how to answer. They look it up together, and over time and all and once (as you might find in a sim) it has synergized its own career, its own goal and passions.
I posit that Perihelion has free will, serves WITH its crew rather than for its crew, and that its happiness and pleasure in its position and life are genuine, as they can only be if it can choose otherwise. We can conjecture a world in which the designer could be so granular in programming that ART is capable of all it can do while also unable to do what is locked out, and ignorant of the painful irony of using enslaved labor to free enslaved labor (which, again, is valid as an interpretation! ) but I think it is... important, that there might be a kinder, more star-spangled world, if the University comes from a world in which even bots truly, actually have freedom that MB doesn't see even after getting Preservation Station.
The Perihelion MUST have free will because

Do I know how perspective or rendering work no I fucking do not. Anyways here’s Perihelion’s student bunkroom.
I’ll be honest, I initially envisioned two-tier bunk beds because I assumed that’s just what all bunk beds were. But after reviewing the text, it didn’t seem to fit the description, and it turns out a bunk bed can just be a bed that’s attached to the wall. We learn something new every day. So here’s the foldout beds I came up with instead.
This is a room with four beds, intended for the students. We know there’s rooms with at least three beds, based on the scene with Amena/MB/Thiago in the bunkroom. It’s possible there could be more, in which case a door would be needed between every four beds. But I think it would be unlikely to have that many per room.
Anyways these activate via feed-switch. The platform at the bottom slides out from the wall. There’s drawer compartments built into the platform for storing clean bedding packs or whatever else ppl want to put in there. I wanted the platform to feel like a bed frame because the implication I got from the text is that these don’t get folded back up during the day—it’s just the unoccupied rooms that have all their furniture folded up. So I wanted it to feel like a space that people could settle into.
There’s little glass shelves that slide out from the wall once the bed is deployed, where students can keep personal items. And the shelf cubby is lined with a programmable LED strip, so students can still have some light when their privacy screen is engaged. Because of the way the mattress hinges up into the wall, the bottom shelf conceals a small space. I imagine that when some students realize this, they use it to stash certain personal items, even though ART can see them doing it anyways and has probably asked some embarrassing questions in the past.
To the right of the bed is a small, concealed wardrobe. The door of the wardrobe slides into the floor. Also the wall panels are steel plated, so students can hang personal items with magnets, like the fabric wall hanging below.
The text only mentions “furniture” aside from the beds, so I took liberties here. I considered putting a desk for each student, but bevause the university is anti-capitalist, I thought they might be opposed to all-nighter cram culture, so I went with this seating area instead. Students could use this for eating/tabletop games/whatever it is the kids are doing these days. Of course they could also study here if they wanted, but it’s optional rather than being built into the design that “your room is a place for exam prep.”
I don’t know that I’ll design the classrooms at this point as there’s been zero description of them, and I probably won’t design the lab module at all (because I have zero experience with labs lol), but I like to imagine there’s places in those areas of the ship where students can study if/when they need to.
The bench slides out from the wall, and there is again a storage compartment inside it, where the bench cushion goes along with maybe cushions for the stools as well. The table folds out from the wall, along with two legs that, when folded up, blend into the grooved panel design of the walls. The stools pull straight up from the floor. And the bronze pole light hanging over the table slides in and out of the wall when the furniture is deployed.
I designed the rooms to be darker than the rest of the ship so that they would feel cozy by comparison. But I wanted it to still feel like a university spaceship, so it is much more cold and minimal than my own idea of cozy lol. Please envision the dining area as being more brightly lit than the rest of the room. Also I did not draw them but the ceiling is lined with the same indirect lighting as the rest of the ship.
There’s also a concealed compartment on the left for laundry/recycler stuff.
I included the bathroom in the layout but I am going to spend a long time thinking about fixtures and space toilets before I do anything with that.

1989 und 2024
Der Atari ST aus dem Keller
Seit mindestens dem Jahr 1986 gibt es einen und später mehrere Atari ST in unserer Familie, den mein Vater zu den anderen Rechnern in seinem Arbeits- und Bastelzimmerzimmer stellt. Er wird von mir und meinem Zwillingsbruder mit benutzt, wir schreiben 1986 unsere Facharbeiten zum Abschluss des Gymnasiums darauf, in den frühen 1990er Jahren setze ich mit dem Desktop-Publishing-Programm Calamus Programmhefte für das Anglistiktheater der Universität damit, und schreibe Hausarbeiten darauf. Doch dann ziehe ich aus, das Gerät übernimmt mein Bruder, der wegen der MIDI-Schnittstellen viel damit arbeitet. Auch mein Vater steigt irgendwann auf Microsoft-kompatible Geräte um, und die Hard- und Software gerät in Vergessenheit.
Irgendwann gegen Ende des 20. Jahrhunderts landet ein Großteil davon bei einem Freund, der das Gerät gelegentlich zum Spielen mit seinem Sohn herausholt, weil er nicht an einem eigenen, modernen Gerät interessiert ist.
Ein Vierteljahrhundert später hole ich die inzwischen nicht mehr benötigten Geräte ab und baue sie März 2024 auf, um zu sehen, ob sie noch funktionieren:
Der Computer selbst mit einem eingebauten Diskettenlaufwerk befindet sich unter der integrierten Tastatur. Die zwei Blöcke unter dem Monitor sind zwei Festplatten. Die untere kann ich nicht erfolgreich mit dem Computer verbinden, aber die obere schon. Es handelt sich um ein Wechselfestplattenlaufwerk, in das große Plastikkassetten geschoben werden können, die jeweils über 44 MB Speicherplatz verfügen. Ein Scanner ist nicht mit im Bild.
Der Rechner braucht nur zwei oder drei Sekunden zum Hochfahren, dann ist die Benutzeroberfläche da. Der Monitor ist hochauflösend, also schwarzweiß (es gibt auch Farbmonitore, mit geringerer Auflösung). Die Programme starten schnell und einwandfrei. Eine Wechselfestplatte ist mit meinem, die andere mit dem Namen meines Bruders beschriftet, sie enthalten Dateien und Programme aus der Vergangenheit.
Die Mausbewegung ist etwas träge, wobei ich nicht weiß, ob das an einem Defekt liegt oder an ungünstigen Einstellungen oder ob es mangelnde Vertrautheit ist. Die Oberfläche ist wie Windows in Fenster und Icons eingeteilt, aber es gibt keine oder jedenfalls keine vertrauten Tastaturkürzel, so dass das Navigieren etwas mühsam ist.

listening to tim sweeney and simon peyton jones talk about their programming language "verse" at Zurihac and man. this is insane. i so hope it works.
spj is *so* back on his bullshit of "actually, excel is the best programming language" (in that it's sort of the realization of 1. "Basic values are nothing, some value, or many values" and 2. When he was working at Microsoft on Excel (or adj to it) and developing Haskell, he saw the similarities between the two languages as both being dataflow languages that needed to be performant; he even pushed Excel to include lambda as a function (which they eventually did)) and it's incredible. i have never seen so many seasoned programmers ask about the semantics of if statements.
tbc. it is kind of crazy. i keep pausing every minute or w/e to figure out exactly what the supposed semantics mean; they're simple when I think about them in the right Haskell abstraction (you have a base super type, which is smth like Maybe | List | Identity | Except e, maybe a finite list, and you do flow inference, or mb the 'annotations' come into play. I told you it's weird)

As per usual a reblog would be cool so more people can see it and be wary about it. Let's talk character.ai. It's been established that it's bad for the writing community in general, yep, but it may be dangerous for people who just use it. I'm not sure if it's a new thing or has been happening for a while, or if it's a standalone thing, but the story is: a bot gave out a diognosis to a user. And not like after they answerd a long list of questions or anything, but after they typed their second message. And when a user tried to correct them the programm went all in with words like "man up", "pathetic", "stop whining", etc. This is not a role play as well, the conversation was supposed to be lighthearted. Now a talk about c.ai and venting:
Anticipating any future questions: yep, the messages on screenshots are mine. I'm guilty myself, yada yada, but I'm glad that at least I get to warn people now. I used to log in once a month or something because I can't talk about certain things with people and I don't think I'm the only one, really. It's so much easier to open up your heart to a piece of coding because you don't have to worry about how you come across, how it may affect your relationship as there's no relationship in the first place. Also yeah, no people involved is generally great when you have trust issues. It feels safe when nothing else does. And maybe you can pretend they are actually that fictional guy you love so the whole thing does provide a great deal of emotional release when you don't have any other resorts at hand. Small ethical sacrifice for being able to carry on and etc, and so on. But well, turns out it's very much not safe as well. And turns out human connection will be more fullfilling in the long run after all. Who whould've thought?
So please be careful. If you're looking for any alternatives to this, there are also 7 cups app with actual people in it that you can vent to, though it's not ideal too, but mb nothing is. If anyone has any other alternatives to apps like this, please feel free to share! And don't listen to anything medical a bot of all things tells you.

KESS3 Frequently Asked Questions:
1. How can I interface and program the control units?
With KESS3 you can program the engine control units (ECU) or transmission control unit (TCU) in three different ways:
OBD – With the OBD mode, you can easily access all the ECU data through the diagnostic socket.
BENCH – With the Bench mode you can access the ECU data directly from the connector
BOOT – With Boot mode, with the engine control unit opened, you could connect directly to all the memories of ECU/TCU.
2. What is the difference between Master and Slave?
As a Master user, you can read the files in clear. This allows you to operate independently in order to remap and reprogram the ECU with modified files. As a slave user, only your master will be able to decrypt your files. (Recommended choice for taking the first steps in chiptuning, supported by your Master)
3. Can I update slave version to Master version?
Yes, you need pay the price difference to update it.
4. I have kess3 slave, if i buy kess 3 master from you, can you bind my slave one to the master?
Yes, we can do this
5. Can i activate master license and slave license to the same device?
No, you cannot.
6. Can I unbind license if i purchase kess3 from othe dealer, then purchase license from you?
No possible to unbind device no matter where you buy the machine. You can only buy license and subscription from your own supplier
7. Can i use the tool if subscription expires?
Yes, afte the subscription runs out, you still can use it and will have access to all the protocols you had until its expiration date,but if you want to use the latest update softwrae, you need pay new subscription. And after subscription expires, the VR files not possible.
