Obscure Animation Subject #4: 101 Dalmatian Street

I’m sick of talking about but might as well for this case.

Created and directed by Miklos Weigert, written by Maria O'Loughlin and developed by Anttu Harlin and Joonas Utti, its the 2nd TV show for the 101 Dalmatians franchise.

It is about a family of 101 Dalmatians living in Camden Town, London and… the show aged horrible for me. There are people that still like but I don’t anymore. It feels similar to The Loud House in many areas. I know that the similarities are unintentional but still.

It has a lot of unlikable characters like Dolly for instance, and their are cruel and mean-spirited episodes like The Wow of Miaow and Walkies on the Wild Side. The art style and animation are not bad though, a bit cheap sometimes especially when its recycled but mostly solid.

There’s also some likable characters like Dylan and Da Vinci, and the show has good episodes like the story arc episodes, The Longest Night and D-Factor, but that overruled by the bad unfortunately. The show even contains probably the worst cartoon episode ever, Balancing Act!

Balancing Act is an episode I have discussed before, but for those who haven’t seen it, I consider it the most stupid, lazy, mean-spirited and frustrating thing I saw in my life! Disney probably gave little promotion for the show because of that episode, and that’s saying a lot!

Maybe it could just be me who’s being harsh on the show because I know it has a cult following, so for my recommendation, probably check out a few episodes to see if its for tastes. If you want lore, probably check out the story arc episodes. If not just stick to the 1961 film.

RUMOR: 101 Dalmatian Street Season 2 On The Works At Disney+?

Recently some 101 Dalmatian Street Fans mentioned that Disney ordered a second season of the series but that Atomic Cartoons won’t be part of it as part of a DM with a fan, again take it as a rumor until Disney confirms it. If true then 101 Dalmatian Street will be the first Disney show to get a revival thanks to its boost on views on Disney+ The show was added a year ago on the USA and it seems that the USA audience wants more of this show….

101 Dalmatian Street centers around a large family of 99 Dalmatian puppies whose names begin with the letter “D”, and their parents, Doug and Delilah, the latter of whom is a great-great granddaughter of Pongo and Perdita, They often leave the eldest siblings, Dylan (Josh Brener) and Dolly (Michaela Dietz), in charge while they are busy at work.
