Kang Young Hwa is a firefighter-turned-bodyguard who has no memories of her past life. Han Ri Ta is a noblewoman from Daegaya, a city-state that existed during the Silla Dynasty. She is the sole survivor of her family after a tragic incident. The drama will follow the fate of these two characters as they encounter Han Jun Oh, a top star whose time has stopped after being killed by his lover. Han Jun Oh is also the reincarnation of Do Ha, an elite aristocrat from Silla. He will be played by Kim Young Dae, who is known for his roles in “The Penthouse” and “Cheese in the Trap”.

She also learned how to ride a horse and speak in an ancient dialect. Pyo Ye Jin expressed her excitement and gratitude for her first leading role. She said, “I’m very happy and honored to be part of this drama. I’m doing my best to portray both Kang Young Hwa and Han Ri Ta with sincerity and passion. I hope the viewers will enjoy watching their love story that transcends time and space.”

a change of plans
@witcher-bows-and-arrows day 6: confession
(geraskier, established relationship, tooth-rotting fluff, 474)
read on ao3
Jaskier rouses to the gentle brush lips on his bare shoulder and strong arms around his waist. He shifts, shoving his face further into his pillow and stretching his body from head to toe with a soft groan. He hears a familiar rumbling laugh in his ear, feels it through the firm chest pressed against his back.
“What are you doing here, Witcher?” he asks, his voice muffled by the pillow.
He isn’t complaining, of course. Waking up in Geralt’s arms is among Jaskier’s top-five favorite things, but the Witcher should have left for his contract hours ago. The only reason Jaskier agreed to sit this one out was because it involved getting up before dawn. It wasn’t anything interesting anyway, just a minor nuisance for the local farmers.
“Change of plans,” Geralt mutters. ”Taking care of it later.”

magic word
@witcher-bows-and-arrows day 5: promise
(geraskier, friends to lovers, getting together, fluff and angst, 1.4k)
read on ao3
For a Witcher, there is no such thing as a guarantee. Geralt can’t say with any kind of certainty where each day will take him, not even from one hour to the next. A peaceful day of travel can turn on a silver mark to disaster. The path he walks is dangerous, unpredictable. It has only grown more so since Jaskier marched into his life.
The bard is a magnet for chaos. Half the Continent wants to murder him, and the other half just haven’t met him yet. Despite the admitted improvement to Geralt’s reputation, he finds himself chased out of towns about as often as he ever was; the only difference now is that he’s running from angry fathers and cuckolded spouses rather than bigots with pitchforks. He never knows when he’ll have to abandon his warm bed at an inn to save the bard from an impromptu execution, or if a hunt will go awry by Jaskier’s presence even though Geralt told him to stay at camp.
With an existence so marred by uncertainty as his, Geralt makes an effort to avoid making promises. The bard’s added complications should only make him more resolute in that regard. Yet, since he met Jaskier, Geralt finds himself making more promises than he has in his life.
The first one hardly counts as a promise. Jaskier has been following him around for a few weeks, and Geralt hasn’t abandoned him in the middle of the night for a reason he can’t pin down just yet.

If you're looking for a prompt, can you do something inspired by that vlogger comic?
Congrats and hope you're having a wonderful day ❤️
(part 1/ part 2//)
i really did intend to do something super short but i should have known better than to think i’m capable of that lol
the art in question is this adorable modern au comic by @zellydoodle, definitely check it out!!
thank you so much for the prompt - enjoy <3
~
The next time Geralt sees his new neighbor, they’re both squeezed into their building’s tiny laundry room, neither of them looking their best. The only clean shirt Geralt had left was the lime green tank top Lambert gave him as a gag for his birthday a few years back and, based on Jaskier’s mismatched pink t-shirt and bright orange shorts, he’s on the last scraps of his own wardrobe.
Geralt had half a mind to turn around the moment he saw Jaskier loading a machine. Call him a coward, maybe he is, but being in close quarters with the cute guy from next door after the conversation he had with Lambert last week was the last thing he wanted.
‘Conversation’ is probably generous. It was really a string of incomprehensible key-smash texts and laughing emojis on Lambert’s side and pointed refusal to respond on Geralt’s. Somewhere in the middle of it all was a link to a YouTube video from a vlogger with almost a million subscribers. A vlogger who looked very, very familiar.
Geralt didn’t even need to watch it to know what it was about. The title said it all.
my neighbor is so hot :(

GERASKIER FAKE DATING
sorry for yelling I'm excited
okay i took my time filling this one but i think the results are worth it - i hope you think so too 😊
~
Jaskier is, surprisingly, a very good boyfriend.
Though being around old school friends and distant relations must have tempted him to abandon his anti-social plus one, he’s hardly left Geralt’s side all day. He introduces Geralt to everyone who approaches them and takes the lead in every conversation to minimize how much Geralt has to talk to strangers. After every interaction, Jaskier leads them inconspicuously to the edge of the room for a welcome break from the buzz of the reception hall around them.
Of course, being a groomsman and brother to the bride means Jaskier has had to step away for round upon round of pictures, but he never goes far and he returns the second he’s able. The only point over the course of the entire wedding where Geralt has had to speak to someone by himself was just after the ceremony, and even then it was only Jaskier’s grandmother.
She was a sweet, stout old woman who smelled of the boiled sweets she pulled from her handbag every so often and popped into her mouth. She ambled up to Geralt the moment Jaskier stepped away, taking his arm as if she belonged there.
“Diedre,” she said. “But you call me Nan, everyone does.”

so where did ciri's training outfit come from?
sure, the shirt and pants came from old clothing tailored to fit her, that all makes sense. but what about her little corset thing?? it's got to be custom made, it's clearly intended to support a young lady so she can run around the woods comfortably. i doubt strongly that they had that on hand and i doubt even further that ciri, a princess who has likely never had to so much as mend a sock, knew how to make it.
what i'm saying is a bunch of wolf witches + ciri hunched over a table of fabric trying to figure out how to make this thing. "the panels should go like this" "that's too much fabric" "how do the strings go?" "wELL YOU DO IT LAMBERT SINCE YOU'RE SUCH AN EXPERT" *various crashing noises*
i'm just seeing a lot of muscley guys crafting into the wee hours to get this kid a supportive garmet and i'm enjoying it a whole lot

i am so happy that taylor is at a point in her life where she can do what she wants when she wants without the fear of the media, her fans, her recording company, or anyone else giving her shit for it. she wants to release 2 rerecords? go ahead. she wants to release a rerecorded single and then not release the album? go for it. release surprise new music whenever she feels like it/as it gets made? i support her
(this isn't sarcasm. i'm genuinely so happy that she isn't bound to some unforgiving schedule. i love that for her.)
also fuck yeah new music

if any racist asshats give her shit, i swear to god, i will Not Be Happy

Top 10 Films of 2023
It was another strong year for movies. Coming up with a “top ten” is always somewhat of a ridiculous job. But it does help you recount and reevaluate the films you’ve seen and provides insight into what themes may have resonated most with you and what trends seem to be occurring in the broader scope of cinema.
This year was more challenging than most. There were several films I recall seeing and commenting, “That's going to be one of the best ten films of the year!” and they barely just made it into my top twenty.
So, after a significant amount of internal deliberation, yet still with a modicum of trepidation, I offer my selections for the top ten films of 2023.
Tumblr media
10. The Creator
Gareth Edwards
The Creator received generally mixed reviews from critics but it’s still one of my favorite films of the year. Some panned it for a lack of substance, but I found its handling of political and technological themes to be delicate and always in service of the narrative rather than trying to make any significant statement. The performances are strong (kudos to youngster Madeleine Yuna Voyles) and the visuals are the best of any movie this past year. We need more creative sci-fi movies like this, not based on any existing IP, to end the onslaught of franchise blockbusters which constantly disappoint.
Tumblr media
9. 20 Days in Mariupol
Mstyslav Chernov
20 Days in Mariupol doesn’t forge any new pathways in documentary filmmaking, unlike some more creative ventures like Tunisia’s Four Daughters. But it is the most powerful of all the documentaries released last year and, therefore, the best at accomplishing what it sets out to do. It is a devastating look at the atrocities committed by Russian troops in southeastern Ukraine. I’m already not much of a fan of humankind, but 20 Days really does expose the darkest of humanity. As one person says in the film, “War is like an X-ray: All human insides become visible.”
Tumblr media
8. The Zone of Interest
Jonathan Glazer
Rudolf Höss and his wife (played by Sandra Hüller) build the life they want for their family on the immediate outskirts of Auschwitz concentration camp, which Höss commands. Even as we watch family life unfurl as it typically may, always lurking in the background — through creative sound editing and visuals — is the ultimate evil. Provocative and poignant, The Zone of Interest is as unsettling as it is intriguing. What makes someone evil, and how much evil does there need to be for someone to “be” evil?
Tumblr media
7. 怪物 (Monster)
Kore-eda Hirokazu
Nominated for 11 awards at the Japan Academy Film Prize, Monster confronts issues of LGBTQ+ identity in young people. It's not as insightful or reflective as my #1 pick last year, Close, which dealt with some similar issues. However, Monster skillfully crafts its message in a unique way through an ingenious screenplay. (It won Best Screenplay at Cannes, along with the Queer Palm.) Bolstered by strong performances by Sakura Ando (Best Actress winner in Japan) and its two young protagonists, Monster is one of the most moving films of the year.
Tumblr media
6. American Fiction
Cord Jefferson
American Fiction is a rare blend of laugh-out-loud funny moments, emotionally engaging storytelling, and penetrative social commentary. Cord Jefferson’s imaginative screenplay is augmented still by a steady stream of solid performances, led by Jeffrey Wright in his career-best work. Jefferson’s experience as a TV comedy writer is apparent in the sharp wit throughout, but American Fiction still surpasses all expectations for a first-time film director.
Tumblr media
5. Past Lives
Celine Song
The year’s best romance, Past Lives is about childhood sweethearts who reconnect in person for the first time in 25 years. Writer-director Celine Song creatively draws us into the mind of each character, asking us to think about their motivations, decisions, and deeply buried emotions. The result is a sensitive and intimate drama with which viewers can find some personal truth or connection. Past Lives is honest and subtle — more interested in character exploration and development than providing any kind of traditional happy ending.
Tumblr media
4. Das Lehrerzimmer (The Teachers’ Lounge)
Ilker Çatak
There’s no other film like The Teachers’ Lounge, and writers Johannes Duncker and Ilker Çatak deserve praise for even coming up with this idea. The Teachers’ Lounge is a 21st-century parable, positing a small school as a microcosm for modern society. What ensues is much like a thriller, though it’s hard to reconcile that designation with the figures you see on screen. Every outcome sensibly flows from the previous event, but how it unfolds and the rapidity with which established social structures crumble make for an engaging drama.
Tumblr media
3. The Holdovers
Alexander Payne
Much like Alexander Payne’s other work, The Holdovers is character-driven, and we are anxious to see how each person comes out on the other end. Each of the three leads needs to confront a troubled past that they’ve allowed to dictate their present. Through openness and compassion, each gains the tools they need to overcome their personal barriers. Despite heavy themes of loss and mental illness, The Holdovers manages to be one of the feel-good movies of the year and may just be a Christmas mainstay for years to come.
Tumblr media
2. Anatomie d'une chute (Anatomy of a Fall)
Justine Triet
Equal parts family and courtroom drama, Anatomy of a Fall is an innovative and refreshing take on the murder mystery genre. Its text-heavy, multilingual script requires the skillful hand of Sandra Hüller, who plays an author suspected of killing her husband. The only potential witness: their blind 11-year-old son. Hüller is stunningly good, but young Milo Machado-Graner also deserves praise for his performance as Daniel. Highlighted by a masterful screenplay, Anatomy of a Fall is both tense and intense, and one of the best movie experiences of the year.
---
And before the big (and ultimately anticlimactic) reveal, here are the films that rounded out my Top 20 in alphabetic order, since it’s too hard to rank them.
Honorable mentions
All of Us Strangers
Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret
Barbie
Fallen Leaves
Four Daughters
Killers of the Flower Moon
Maestro
Passages
Poor Things
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
And now...
Tumblr media
1. Oppenheimer
Christopher Nolan
I know it’s a boring pick, but it’s undeniably my favorite film of the year. Anatomy of a Fall was actually a close second, but even upon leaving the theater after Oppenheimer, I said to myself that this is the best film I’ve seen in a while. For all the reasons I love Oppenheimer, check out my Oscar picks series which discusses the various aspects of the film in great detail. But yes, Christopher Nolan’s magnus opus is my pick for the best film of 2023.

Liner Notes (January 20th, 2024)
This week’s newsletter looks at Green Day’s new album and sprinkles in some other thoughts on the music and entertainment I spent time with last week. This week’s supporter Q&A post can be found here. If you’d like this newsletter delivered to your inbox each week (it’s free and available to everyone), you can sign up here. A Few Things * I (for obvious reasons) enjoyed this article from Joan Westenberg arguing that forums have some real benefits over places like Slack/Discord. I continue to like our community and how it looks/works over any other online platform I’ve played around with. * I saw some sad news this week. Former AbsolutePunk writer Tony Pascarella passed away. Tony wrote some of my favorite reviews back in the day, and I’ll remember him for never being afraid to tackle a takedown of a popular artist. Rest in peace. * I asked Alexa about the weather this morning. It gave me the weather and asked if I wanted headlines for the upcoming NFL games. Has anyone written the definitive piece on what went wrong with this product? Every “did you know…?” prompt makes me want to throw this thing through a window. In Case You Missed It * Paramore Cancel Festival Appearances * Sum 41 Announce Final World Tour * Green Day to Play ‘American Idiot’ and ‘Dookie’ on Tour * Graduation Speech – “No Confidence” (Song Premiere) * All the Billion Things * The Spill Canvas Announce New Tour * Finch Post-Up Teaser * Chorus. fm’s Top 30 Albums of 2023 * Yellowcard Announce New Collaboration Album * Albums in Stores – Jan 19th, 2024 Music Thoughts * This week’s big release is Green Day’s Saviors. I think it’s a wonderful return to form after quite a few years of the band wandering in the wilderness with mediocre songs (and the straight up unlistenable last album). It’s an album that embraces the best parts of the band and has some of Billie’s most inspired songwriting since American Idiot. Highlights for me are “Goodnight Adeline,” “Dilemma,” and “Living in the ’20s.” There’s an awesome energy to “Living in the ’20s” that I didn’t think the band had in them anymore. There’s still a few duds (the last three songs drag a little, and the chorus to “Coma City” bugs me), and the album feels its length at 15 songs, but as a whole, I’m extremely happy to have a new Green Day album that I thoroughly enjoy. I’m still holding out hope that the band could do a whole album of songs like “Goodnight Adeline,” “Corvette Summer,” and “Suzie Chapstick” that would feel like a spiritual successor to Warning — a great start to the music year. * The new Strung Out song has me buzzing. Quickly climbing my most anticipated chart. * I like the new Taylor Acorn single; I hope to see a full length this year. * The rest of my week was spent rediscovering MxPx’s Secret Weapon, doing an Alkaline Trio discography run, and sprinkling in some old school Bad Religion at the gym. The Stats: Over the past week, I listened to 25 different artists, 46 different albums, and 459 different tracks (581 scrobbles). Here is my Top 9 from last week, and you can follow me on Apple Music and/or Last.fm. Entertainment Thoughts * I loved Ms. Marvel (the TV show). I liked Captain Marvel. Adore both actresses. And I still thought The Marvels was a total mess. It felt like four scripts badly edited together. It was cut extremely weird, made little sense, and the story’s core was boring. It’s been a long time since I walked away from a Marvel movie excited. * Self Reliance was completely fine. * I’ve been keeping up with my goal to read more in 2024. Of the things I’ve read over the first few weeks, I liked Small Mercies by Dennis Lehane the best. I also finally read Travis Barker’s book. I’d give that a solid 2.5 stars. 2.5 is also the number of pages Travis can apparently go without mentioning how many women he’s slept with. There are some good Blink-182 tidbits throughout, and I would have loved more of a dive into the recording of those albums,… https://chorus.fm/features/articles/liner-notes-january-20th-2024/

OC INFORMATION (+ links)
Hi everyone! This is basically my intro post/oc mega dump for those who are new (which is everyone mostly). Most of my drawings center around my original story and characters. My art can be found here while my fics can be found on ao3 ( https://archiveofourown.org/users/kiraverse77 ). Other than that, let’s get started.
OVERALL STORY- A talent firm in Nagoya licenses all types of entertainment, anything from movies to even metal bands. It seemed almost unreal how many things they could fund and license, however the truth of where their money and connections come from is unsavory. The firm is closely associated with the Matsubara Clan (the Yakuza) and is always being watched by their members. A very popular horror actress, Ayanami Yuriko, is particularly paranoid around the lieutenant of this clan, Ayanami Yuji. Everyone around her thinks she’s gone a bit crazy, however her fears are definitely not fabricated….
CHARACTERS-
Ayanami Yuriko (Yuriko Mérced, stage name)- Yuriko is the same: extremely talented child, witnesses the horrors that her brother faces, moves to France for a while, and comes back to Japan. She’s one of the top performing actresses and her movies sell extremely well. On the inside she is still consumed by guilt and is aware that Yuji can kill her at any moment, resulting in a violent anger problem. She is also aware of all the dirty shit Yuji is pulling but can’t say anything due to guilt and corruption.
Ayanami Yuji- Yuji is also the same, but now with a new last name. His dad did abhorrent things to him until he was 15 and was “betrayed” by his sister but this is where things differ. His mother forced him into Kabuki, being the prime specimen for Onnagata roles. The same abhorrent things happen until he kills his mother and father. He then becomes a prostitute in order to stalk Yuriko and that’s how he became affiliated with the Yakuza. He was very talented with…let’s just say his mouth and violence, which granted him a high ranking spot. His main goal, aside from the ones he was given, is to kill Yuriko/torture her..
Esther Merced- Shin’ya’s assistant who’s being used by Yuji as a double agent. Not actually a Yakuza member, just kind of being used as an informant. She believes that Yuji is her friend, however this isn’t the truth. She has grown incredibly paranoid since her friendship started.
Hantai Morgan- Morgan is the lead sound director and also works in the music department. He has a talent for the drums and is also Dahlia’s step brother. He is also aware of the danger Yuji brings and finds himself as an ally to Yuriko. He used to be friends with Shin’ya, however the two have drifted apart. Overall, he’s a very pleasant guy but average.
Miura Shin’ya- High ranking employee at the firm, basically taking on a management position. He’s very hard working and respects all of the talents there. He lived a very troubled life before being hired, which leaves him vulnerable to unsavory characters. He’s Yuji’s favorite manager to toy with, actually being in a relationship with the other man. He does love him, however Yuji’s true feelings about him are unknown.
Dahlia- Dahlia is an intern who works with Yuriko. The two are actually very good friends and similarly to her brother Morgan, she believes all of Yuri’s fears. Dahlia also has a soft spot for Esther, however she can never get too close to her.
Togami Lucien (Togami Ramin)- Ceo of the talent firm. Yippee.
Joanna Haoa + Kusaru- Much hasn’t changed. They’re still baristas at a coffee shop, however they do investigative journalism on the side. Just pains in the ass.
AGES
Yuriko + Yuji- 23
Shin’ya- 35
Dahlia- 24
Esther- 22
Rilliane- 25
Morgan- 26
Lucien- 56
Kusaru + Joana- 26

Vonda Shepard – The Loft at City Winery – Philadelphia, PA – January 12, 2023
“Ain't it funny how you're walking through life, and it turns on a dime?”
That line isn’t just a lyric from Vonda Shepard’s 1996 song “The Wildest Times of the World,” but it was also somewhat prophetic towards her own career.
Shepard first popped up in the pop culture spotlight in 1987, when she had a top 10 single as part of a duet on the song “Can’t We Try” with balladeer Dan Hill. (This was a comeback single for Hill, who was best known for the 1978 smash “Sometimes When We Touch.”) Shepard was signed up with Warner Records, but her self-titled debut album didn’t sell as well as hoped and she was dropped from the label before her second album was released.
She released a couple of albums on the indie Vesper Alley label (1992’s The Radical Light and 1996’s It’s Good Eve), but it seemed like things were passing her by, until one day when actress Michelle Pfeiffer and her husband, television producer David E. Kelley, caught one of her gigs. At the time, Kelley was developing a new show about a quirky young lawyer named Ally McBeal. Kelley thought it would be an interesting idea to have a singer to bring musical voice to the young litigator’s inner turmoil. And he felt that Vonda Shepard would be the perfect person to be that voice.
Tumblr media
Therefore, Shepard landed in a show that became (at least briefly) a pop culture zeitgeist. Shepard performed in pretty much every episode of the series’ five-season run as the singer at the Martini Bar in the same building as the law firm, performing a mixture of cover songs and some of Shepard’s originals. The song “Searchin’ My Soul” (originally from The Radical Light) became the series’ theme song and was a hit single.
Now 25 years on from Songs from Ally McBeal (who else is feeling old?), the first of four soundtrack albums of songs that Shepard recorded for the show, Shepard is on the road for a very brief US tour (three nights, three cities) celebrating the anniversary, as well as the release of her most recent album Red Light, Green Light.
Tumblr media
This was the middle night of the east coast short trek. (She played in Annapolis, MD the night before, and was heading up to New York City the next night.) She mixed a good cross-section of her solo work and McBeal cover songs, although she did not sing her highest charting hit “Can’t We Try?” (Undoubtedly, she considers that Dan Hill’s song more than her own, even though she was a huge part of the hit recording.)
She brought along a crack backing band, made up of Tina Turner’s longtime guitarist James Ralston, Jackson Browne’s longtime drummer Mauricio Lewak and bassist Jim Hanson, who has played with the likes of Rodney Crowell and Bruce Springsteen.
She started the night with a few of the new songs (about three songs in she apologized to the Ally McBeal fans and said she’d get to those songs soon), doing soulful, passionate takes of “Shine Your Light,” “Red Light Green Light” and “Dirty Laundry Line” from the new album and “I Just Don’t Get It” from her 2015 album Rookie.
Tumblr media
Soon she had worked her way to such fan favorites as “The Wildest Times of the World” and a drop-dead gorgeous cover of The Left Banke’s “Walk Away Renee.” She also did a sweet version of her wistful ballad “Maryland” and a gospel-tinged ride through “Sweet Inspiration” (originally recorded by the band The Sweet Inspirations).
She closed things out with a brace of Ally songs, hopping up from the piano for the only time of the night to do a playful cover of The Exciters’ “Tell Him,” torching the room with a raucous version of “Searchin’ My Soul” and then turning things down, closing out with a wistful and lovely take of the old Jo Stafford standard “You Belong to Me.”
Even though Shepard good-naturedly acknowledged in the middle of the set that her best-selling albums all had Calista Flockhart on their covers rather than her own picture, this show was a terrific reminder of the strong, interesting body of work that Vonda Shepard has been sharing with us for about 35 years.

First things first, did you have a good year? Honestly, no. This has been the worst year we’ve had in a long time and I’m ready for it to be over.
How old did you turn this year? 28!
Do you feel your age? No, I feel like 25 but that might have something to do with the pandemic.
Did your appearance change in anyway? My hair has gone through the ringer this year in terms of color but that wasn’t my choice, nor my fault. But it’s gotten longer and I've adjusted the way that I do my makeup a lot.
Post your favorite selfie. Newp. This is anonymous for a reason.
If you traveled, where did you go? I’m not much of a traveller. We did a few in state roadtrips but that's it.
Which fashion trends did you love? Which fashion trends did you hate? I’ve fallen in love with neutrals and matching comfy sets + square necklines. I don’t looove the Y2K fashion that's come back, just because I lived through it the first time and it was cringy enough then but that’s just a personal preference!
What was your favorite article of clothing this year? Post a pic if possible? I discovered square necked tops and I got one that’s a ribbed texture and a soft brown color and I love it!
What song sums up this year for you? Vienna by Billy Joel.
What album came out and has been on heavy rotation since then? I haven’t had a full album come out that I've been obsessed with in a looong time.
What was your favorite movie of the year? We just watched Spirited on Apple TV+ and it was honestly really good! It also gets bonus points for actually being a good Christmas movie bc those are so rare.
Did an actor/actress catch your attention for the first time this year? I don’t think so?!
Favorite new TV show? Definitely Bluey!!
Which new ship/fandom has taken over a lot of your time, attention, and tears? Also Bluey.
What food did you try for the first time? Did I try any new food this year??? I guess I made a lasagna soup that was a new recipe and really good.
Did you make any big permanent changes this year? I went from a maximalist to a minimalist and that really changed my relationship with money, shopping, and Christmas. It's been a really hard but very rewarding change. I work better without so much STUFF everywhere.
Did you develop a new obsession? I don’t think so?!
Did you vote? Yup.
Did you move? Nope.
Did you get a job? Nope.
Did you get a pet? For like 2 weeks.
Do you regret not doing anything? I don’t think so.
Do you regret doing something? I regret going to the hairstylist I went to and getting a puppy.
Have you done anything that scared you? I have anxiety, everything scares me.
Did anyone/thing make you so mad it stayed with you for days? Oh plentyyyy. My mother, my hairdresser, my husband’s best friend.
Did you lose anyone close to you? No, thank god.
Did you fall in love? Been in love for 10 years!
Did you fall out of love? Newp!
Did you start a new relationship? Again, same one.
Did you go through a break up? ...
Did you have to cut ties to someone? My husband is about to with his best friend. I’ve wanted to with my mom a million times.
Who was important to you this year but wasn’t important last year? No one, the same people are important to me.
Who wasn’t as important to you this year as they were last year? My brother and I have really fallen out of touch.
What was the best moment of the year for you? What was the worst? The best moment was dancing with my husband at the GVF concert. Worst was getting a new puppy.
What are you most proud of accomplishing? I did a massiveeee decluttering earlier this year and it made a surprisingly large difference in my mental health.
What have you learned about yourself this year that you didn’t know in the years prior? I can stand up for myself, it’s just a skill that I need to strengthen.
What do you wish for yourself for the coming year? Less clutter, more living, more love, more peace.

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee Canceled
Bummer news today. TBS’s late-night comedy show Full Frontal with Samantha Bee has been canceled and would not be returning this Fall.
A Daily Show alum, Bee truly brought it to late night comedy when the series began in 2016 during the 2016 Election and then the Trump era. I even named it one of my Top TV Shows of the year from 2016 to 2020.

Remembering Ray Liotta 1954-2022
Sad news today that actor Ray Liotta has died at 67.
Tumblr media
Liotta (second right) on set of Goodfellas. Meeting of the minds in this picture!
His greatest performance IMHO was his first breakout role as Ray Sinclair in Jonathan Demme’s brilliant 1986 film Something Wild. He comes in about half-way through the film, lays on the charm, and then brings the menacing psychopath into the love triangle. The fact that Liotta was rarely seen before that gave it a sense of discovery that this was a star-making performance. Melanie Griffith actually recommended Liotta as she knew him from her acting class.

RIP Bill Russell and Nichelle Nichols
Here is my combined remembrance of two celebrities who passed away today:
Remembering Bill Russell 1934-2022
NBA legend Bill Russell has died at 88. In addition to being a player on the Boston Celtics and later a coach, he had a few moments within pop culture. He appeared on several TV shows including episode of The White Shadow and Miami Vice. Best of all was when he hosted SNL in Nov. 1979.

This Month In History - March
March 4, 1982: Police Squad premiered
Tumblr media
In March 1982, the Zucker-Abraham-Zucker team brought their laugh-a-minute style to TV with this short-lived parody of TV police shows. It was also the beginning of Leslie Nielsen’s Det. Frank Drebin character, made famous in The Naked Gun movies years later. Around 1991, after Naked Gun 2 1/2, they re-aired episodes to cash in on the film. The series is among the funniest ZAZ productions. Happy 40th Police Squad!

My #1 post of 2022
RIP Taylor Hawkins 1972-2022
I have been laying low on this blog in recent weeks after I was dealing with a personal loss, but I’m back here to pay tribute to one of my favorite musicians who has sadly passed away at age 50. Taylor Hawkins is one of the best drummers of his generation and this truly sucks. Anyone who knows me or reads this blog knows my fanaticism of Foo Fighters and Taylor was a tremendous part of the band. When you are a drummer in a band with Dave Grohl, one of the greatest drummers ever, one needs to rise to that challenge of drumming for a legendary drummer, which Taylor did time and time again!

Taylor Hawkins
I first became aware of Taylor in 1995 when he became the drummer for Alanis Morissette. He appeared in her music video for “You Oughta Know” and toured with her. In the recent documentary Jagged, Taylor was one of the featured interviewees talking about that era. That tour lead to Taylor getting asked to join Foo Fighters in 1997 after William Goldsmith got fired. I had been a huge fan of Nirvana, so I picked up their 1995 debut, which was a Dave Grohl solo project that lead to a band. By the time I saw them in June 1997 at the WBCN River Rave, Taylor was the band’s new drummer who had just joined. He didn’t disappoint. In Nov. 1999 after There is Nothing Left to Lose was released, I saw the band do an in-store in NYC and I met Taylor (along with Grohl, Nate Mendel and Chris Shiflett) who signed my “Learn to Fly” 45 single and TINLTL CD.

𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐄𝐑 𝐎𝐍𝐄: 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐒𝐈𝐃𝐄.
name: Celexa Dust eye optic color: Yellow hair style / color: Short and ‘wild’, silver, with three ‘hair pins’ holding most of the hair out of one side of their face, has twin hair ‘ahoges’ that can be slid into their head, or slid out (depends on how they want to appear that day). Best reference for their overall hairstyle would be this image (but flipped for which way the hair goes). height: 5′ 2″ / 158.5cm (roughly) clothing style: Loose and light, mostly tank tops and long pants (black or dark blue for all clothes) + a jacket tied around their waist (refuses to go out in public without one, unless they’re fighting). They wear only things in grayscale, save the rare moment when they’ll don something that’s dark green, dark purple, or dark blue. best physical feature: “The fact that everyone thinks I’m a guy even now is kinda funny, not gonna lie.”
𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐖𝐎: 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐈𝐃𝐄.
your fears: “Fears I have? Dude, where do I start? Failure, abandonment, being anything less than perfect, losing my family, water deeper than my waist, fucking bees--” your ambitions for the future: “Honestly, at this point? I don’t really have any. Why make any when some new disaster hits Ninjago every six months or so and completely obliterates whatever I was doing? All I really do between battles at this point is try to help repair some of the damage... But If I could have a future again that didn’t involve all of Ninjago being destroyed or not... I guess I’d want to pursue that drawing career I used to think about, back when the multiverse was just a fictional concept.”
𝑻𝑯𝑶𝑼𝑮𝑯𝑻𝑺.
your first thoughts waking up: “Breakfast is at 6AM. The guys will be up at 7:30AM. Wu will be up at 5:30AM. I have thirty minutes to myself...shit.” what you think about before bed: “Honestly... I’d.... Rather not answer.” (Commonly has panic attacks/thinks about a lot of things that make them anxious about the future as they lay there, waiting and begging for sleep to take them. As a robot, melatonin is no longer a valid option for quick sleep... And they have yet to even think about how they could easily ‘turn on’ sleep mode. Adult stupid.) what you think your best quality is: “...my best?...I guess... Kindness?...”
𝑾𝑯𝑨𝑻’𝑺 𝑩𝑬𝑻𝑻𝑬𝑹?
single or group dates: “Single dates. I’ve... Considered group dates before, but... That experience was one I’d rather not repeat. Feel free to ask Jay.” to be loved or respected: “Loved. Because love would imply respect.” beauty or brains: “Brains.” dogs or cats: “Each have their plusses, but... I used to own a few cats, years ago, so... Yeah, I personally prefer cats. Kinda wish the team could adopt a few, but.... Don’t wanna get any pets mixed up in our messes.”
𝑫𝑶 𝒀𝑶𝑼…
lie: “I try not to, but I have.” believe in yourself: “More than I used to.” believe in love: “As a chemical reaction? Yes. As a force of nature? Yes. As a superpower or literal weapon? No.” want someone: “...not sure what you’re implying here, but I am seeing someone.”
𝑬𝑽𝑬𝑹 𝑩𝑬𝑬𝑵…
been on stage: “Yep.- I used to be an actress ages ago, it was pretty fun!” done drugs: “If you count caffeine or melatonin, then yes! If you don’t... Then no.” changed who you were to fit in: “Constantly. Very, very constantly.”
𝑭𝑨𝑽𝑶𝑹𝑰𝑻𝑬𝑺.
favorite color: “Yellow. Always.” favorite animal: “Dragons, close second is wolves.” favorite movie: “Don’t have one!” favorite book: “Also don’t have one.” favorite game: “I guess you could claim Minecraft, since I return to it every other month or so. Y’know, it gets a lot more weird when you can actually put yourself in the game.”
𝑨𝑮𝑬.
day your next birthday will be: “February 21st, though I... Don’t really age anymore.” how old will you be: “Like I said, I don’t age. If you count the death of my physical body as my final age, I’ll always be 25.... If you’re going based on what age of myself I designed this body on... Um... It’s kinda a mix? Just call me an adult and we’re good.... But everyone still thinks I’m a freaking child...”
𝑰𝑵 𝑨 𝑷𝑬𝑹𝑺𝑶𝑵.
best personality: best eye color: best hair color: ”I don’t like to claim that there’s a ‘best personality’, or ‘best eye color’, or ‘best hair color’. I’ve seen memories of my other selves, and plenty of them are with beings that are far cries from Zane... And some are with beings that are incredibly similar. Hell, I know a version of me that’s fallen for Bill freaking Cipher. The guy who tried to cause WEIRDMAGGEDON. And over here in Ninjago, I personally fell for a stoic ice-ninja with a metaphorical heart of gold. So... Fuck saying there’s a ‘best personality’, ‘best eye color’, and/or a ‘best hair color’.”
best thing to do with a partner Zane: “Honestly?.... It’s just... Nice to relax with him after a really rough day. I know his hair is a solid mass, but it’s still fun to run my hand along the top while we just... Chat, or read some books.”
𝑭𝑰𝑵𝑰𝑺𝑯 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑺𝑬𝑵𝑻𝑬𝑵𝑪𝑬.
i love: “--my team.” i feel: “--like I could shatter at any moment.” i hide: “--how scared I am of the future.” i miss: “--having opposable digits.” i wish: “--that this world would stop going through Backstory Events. The record’s five, and I’m---.... I’m at three. No alternate of me has ever survived beyond five before...”
