Questoris Knight-Styrix “Rhadamanth”
Of all the various Engines used by the Knight Houses during the times of the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy, none were more darkly regarded than the Questoris Knight-Styrix. Like the Cerastus Knight-Castigator, the Styrix was built for the express purpose of sweeping infantry from the field. Armed with a lethal combination of a Grav-Gun, twin Rad-Cleansers, and the massive Volkite Chieorovile, it could pin large formations in place before killing them in the most horrendous fashion possible with flesh-boiling radiation discharges and scything volkite beams. However, the Styrix was more than a mere loadout of weaponry. Steeped in cruel slaughter since the dark days of the Age of Strife, the Machine-Spirits of these engines grew cold and malevolent, with a thirst for blood that could never be slaked. Conservative Knight Houses shun them, seeing their demeanor and purpose as below the chivalrous codes of honor they hold themselves to. Other Houses had little such compunctions, fielding massed formations of Styrixs that can scour a battlefield clean of smaller foes, leaving other Knights unmolested to deal with larger targets.
Rhadamanth belonged to the Bound House of Atrax, a particularly pitiful example of a Knight Household. While most Houses are fiercely proud and independent, maintaining bonds with Forge Worlds but never becoming subservient to them, House Atrax is more akin to a leashed dog than an honored ally of its Forge. After being forced into submission by the Magi of Forge World Cyclothrathe, House Atrax was reduced to a mere puppet, independent on paper but little more than a division of Cyclothrathe’s Taghmata. When not in battle their Scions are imprisoned separate from their engines to quash any chances of rebellion until their inhuman masters see fit to unleash them. In battle they unleash all their bitterness and hatred on whoever is unfortunate to oppose them, earning a reputation for cruel slaughter. After Cyclothrathe declared for the Traitor Warmaster Horus, House Atrax had little choice but to follow their masters into treachery and at the planet Numinal during the Manachean War they met their loyalist counterparts in battle. Death held no terror to them, for it would be a merciful release from their hellish servitude, but ultimately their ferocity could not prevail and the battle was lost. Under the command of Scion Andar Thon Rhadamanth claimed four Knight-Engine kills before perishing as part of the rearguard that protected Cyclothrathe’s forces during their retreat.
House Atrax’s unique heraldic traditions were outlawed when Cyclothrathe bound them in servitude. The dour tech-adepts saw little use in extravagant markings and forbid their thrall-knights from using them. Nevertheless, Rhadamanth still bears some heraldic markings. On the pauldron the white daggers on a red field that comprise Atrax’s symbol are displayed alongside the blood-red sigil of Cyclothrathe, although this is less a sign of brotherhood and more a stamp of ownership. The upper dorsal plate and right knee pad bear the cogwheel clenched in an armoured fist, a traditional symbol of the Sidonian Protocols, and on the opposite knee pad Rhadamanth bears the Eye of Horus, symbolizing the allegiance of its masters to the traitor Warmaster. Scion Thon’s coat of arms is displayed on the Engine’s banner: the House symbol, its colors inverted, adorned with triple lightning bolts. However, even this display of individualism is subsumed by the addition of Cyclothrathe’s sigil directly above it, symbolizing its supremacy over the scions of the House.

Questoris Knight Styrix
Tumblr media
The Questoris Knight Styrix is amongst the rarest patterns of Imperial Knight armours ever produced. Housing Machine Spirits which some say became too accustomed to wholesale slaughter during the Age of Strife and the Great Crusade that followed it, many of the more conservative Knight Houses consider the Styrix to be a dark and malevolent pattern of armour, the wanton slaughter it unleashes being beneath the dignity of a true Knight. Other households hold no such reservations, loosing entire formations of Styrix Pattern Knights to mercilessly annihilate their foes.
Armed with a devastating Volkite Chieorovile and backed up with a Graviton Crusher and twin-linked Rad Cleanser, the Questoris Knight Styrix is easily able to eliminate large numbers of infantry at range. Whilst in close combat, its immensely powerful Hekaton Siege Claw can smash vehicles and tear buildings asunder, making it a powerful addition to any army.
History
The Styrix Pattern Knight armour is the equal of the Magaera in technological sophistication, and has been meticulously designed to facilitate the efficient eradication of infantry formations and supporting vehicles. Blasts from the Styrix's integral Graviton Gun can pin hapless targets in place while scything volkite beams and flesh-boiling rad-cleanser discharges reap a heavy toll of lives. The anima of these armours, steeped in slaughter and death in its most visceral sense, often develop distinctly malevolent machine spirits, and have garnered something of a dark reputation in many of the more conservative Households, who view the wanton slaughter of impotent infantry as beneath a true Knight. Among Mechanicus-oathed Houeholds, the Styrix is held in higher esteem, especially among those scions who have undergone extensive augmentation in honour of their enigmatic patrons and share their antipathy for the weakness of flesh. The pitiless thrall-Knights of House Col'Khak are renowned for fielding entire formations of these machines in support of the Legio Atarus ("Firebrands"), sweeping clear enemy infantry from the Titan's feet in a furious blast of energy beams and cleansing radiation.
Wargear
Volkite Chieorovile
Graviton Crusher
Reaper Chainsword
Blessed Autocimulacra
Throne Mechanicum
Empyreal Preysight - An upgrade to the Knight's Occular sensors enabling a far greater degree of visual acuity, including the ability to 'see' enemy infantry through cover.
Ionic Flare Shield - An upgraded version of the standard Ion Shields used by most Knight classes. The Ionic Flare Shield is a combination of the standard Ion Shield and a Flare Shield, providing a greater degree of protection to its user, especially during melee combat.
Titanic Feet - The weight of the Knight alone is enough for to crush enemy units beneath its behemoth tread.
Optional Wargear
Hekaton Siege Claw with built-in, twin-linked Rad Cleansers
Occular Augmetics (31st Millennium Only) - An upgrade to the Knight's Occular sensors enabling a far greater degree of visual input during low-light conditions, such as night-fighting.

Just a little fun with a friend’s Armigers. I was otherwise occupied, today, and didn’t have a chance to build my own - although I did knock out half a squad of autocannon Marines and an Eldar Shadow Spectre Exarch.
I managed to pick up enough Skitarii Rangers to do the Secutarii Peltasts and Hoplites that will accompany my Warlord, if I ever get a chance to work on it - which won’t be this week, since I also managed to pick up some work building a Necron army.
As for my own Armigers, I’m currently undecided as to how I’ll utilize them. I’ve settled on Legio Astorum, the Warp Runners, for my Titan Legion, which hails from the Forge World of Lucius.
Unfortunately, Lucius doesn’t have an affiliated Knight House, so the current plan is to run the more Mechanicus-styled Questoris Knights Magaera, Styrix and Atrapos, in the same colors as the Lucius Skitarii, supporting the Titans.
I could throw the Armigers in with them, but aesthetically they fit more in line with the Household Knights than the Mechanicum variety, so I may just have to do a separate force of independently aligned Knights later on.

Uploading because I wantsta upload it somewhere. Putting it here so a certain few friends can't see it before I bring this baby along to our games day. Only took me half a year, and I also have not much clue and to start in doing. Questoris Knight Styrix painted in Metalica paint scheme, as far as I can work it out.

Working on basically speed painting the Styrix half of my Knight collection. Layers one through four (leadbelcher spray, averland sunset base, yriel yellow layer, casandora yellow shade) are down on the yellow, need to highlight it one more time with yriel yellow then start cleaning up over-paint at the edges and working on other colors. Haven’t decided which portions of the claw need hazards, but I have decided I’m going to try to work in some Cherenkov Radiation blue glow into a couple parts of the mini. Kinda experimenting a bit on this to see what works for the rest of the AdMech, trying to get it done before I travel so it’s done done since it can’t travel with me the way I plan to with the rest of the army to work on it.

Lascutters probably make a syncopated “vwaam” sound when they’re operating.
I suppose this is nominally the same weapon as Sir Hekhtur’s, but I think it’d look pretty sharp as a swap on a Questoris Knight Styrix or Magaera. You know, if you want to run something other than a giant volkite or lightning cannon
