Honestly it's sooo frustrating that people can't respect lesbianism; something that is already complex, accounts for many different forms of gender non-conformity, transness, and other forms of self expression. Maybe it’s because a stupid teen vampire romance show with female leads is something I’ve been desperately wanting forever… but I really don’t get why everyone’s calling First Kill cringe and saying it’s bad? It just feels like it’s being held to a high standard that it’s not meant to be held to. It’s supposed to be a cheesy romance, it’s not supposed to be a deep thought provoking show.

I just watched this review by Swell Entertainment and she makes a lot of good points… but also some of her complaints seem to have easy answers?

One of her complaints was “if everyone knows about monsters why is the guild a secret”. Idk, maybe because they don’t want an entire town to go into a panicked frenzy and want to secretly take out monsters without anyone knowing? We saw what happened with the Moms Against Monsters group. Maybe everyone knows what monsters are, but it makes sense that the guild wouldn’t want them knowing the monsters are as active as they are.

My point is why is this show being so heavily nitpicked to the point that people are complaining about things that make sense if you think about them for two seconds? It’s a fun teen vampire show. I thought we were all in agreement that teen vampire content is not supposed to be a cinematic masterpiece.
