We have a new baby! 🐱 Her name is Cleo! Her full name is Cleopatra Custard Pie. She is a domestic short haired dilute calico. 💜 She looks like a baby Athena! We visited Pasadena Humane on Sat Aug 20th for their "Clear The Shelters" event. We arrived at closing to "have a look at the animals." 😊 They told us there were no more kittens and only 10 cats left. But they did have a kitten! Custard! 🍮 She was the last kitten to be adopted probably because she is feral! Her brother Peaches 🍑 was already adopted, otherwise we would have kept them together. Gemini's ♊️ born on June 3. Custard has big ears and big green eyes with dark black around her eyelids. Lee chose to rename her Cleopatra and I agree this is the perfect name for her. We also kept her name Custard and added Pie (like we did for Athena Beana Pie and Apollo Cecil Moon Pie.) We tried on other names, Greek names, and Biblical names, but the names didn't fit her. She looks like Cleopatra. And she is goddess and a queen. It was a nice surprise to learn that the name is of Greek origin and also has a holy meaning for us. It was meant to be! 🙏 Cleopatra comes from the Ancient Greek Kleopátra (Κλεοπάτρα), meaning "glory of the father", from κλέος (kléos, "glory") and πατήρ (patḗr, "father"). She is already eating a lot of kitten food, drinking lots of water, and using the litter box. She is so sweet, cuddly, and warm. She is still a bit feral and big brother Apollo has already taught her how to hiss, except she sounds like a baby snake 🐍. She has long legs and big paws and so, it's no surprise that she already jumps like a gazelle! She wears tiny white mittens and long white boots. She also has a tiny crook at the end of her tail. She has a sort of Harry Potter mark ⚡️️on her forehead (like Athena) so she is a Muggle (or maybe not 🪄). 😀 Hello Cleo! We love you! The lil bean would It be at the front desk organizing some books that wasn't on the shelves. When they listen the front door opening, Bina would go there forgetting everything that they were doing.

Bina wouldn't take the stairs this time, but use their wings to go to the second floor where the door was. And when they finally get there, they would welcome the visitor.

"H-hello. Welcome to the North Stars Big Library! Can I help you with something?"

Arthur glanced around as he took the steps towards the large doors of this --- building.

He continued to the door, opening it to peer inside. He didn’t know exactly where he was or how he got here, but.... he was here now, and this looked like a public building at least. Maybe someone could help him out.

Inside was...extravagant. Gorgeous architecture he could get lost staring at. It was well lit, columns along the first floor and an arching stairway just in front of him that led down. Stained glass shimmered above on the far wall, assembled to look like a star in the circular window. Tucked between pillars on both floors were hallways, likely going to different rooms, and the edge of the balcony of the second floor was lined with an intricately decorated, waist-height and sweeping banister. It curved near the window, forming a lip overlooking the first floor, similar to the one just in front of him on this side of the building.

Arthur blinked, not exactly sure what he’d expected to see behind the solid wood doors. He does so again when he sees the person-- flying up to him, wings flapping until they land near him on the second floor.

“Oh. Uh. Hello.” He isn’t sure what to say yet, but he offers a shy wave. “Um. Library, huh...? That’s neat. But um...where exactly are we...?”

Beans through the ages. I came home from work today and what had seemed like last night was a quick trip to the vet visit turned into I need to let my sweet baby girl go. Her name was officially Rina. Named after the nickname of the big boy I hade just lost, Toby/Toblerone. She came into work and looked just like him with dumbo ears and tiny, so we jokingly nicknamed her Toblerina. A couple weeks later and I just had to take her home, I had fallen in love. She was laid back and sweet with everyone. Always the easiest intros with beans. If you wanted to cuddle she was your buddy, if you wanted to climb gates and explore like there was no tomorrow, she was your landing party leader. I’m so sad that she’s gone! But she left quickly and peacefully. She can be buried next to her sister Lily and they can frolic over the rainbow bridge now. I’m so blessed to have had her in my life. Yes, of course!

❤️ Athena will always take care of Ivy if she ever gets sick or injured, but sometimes she’s so wrapped up in caring for others that she neglects her own well being, so whenever she gets sick, Ivy will make sure she stays home and will often care for her until she’s better.

❤️ Both girls love the other’s accents. Since they grew up in opposite types of places, they’re also curious about what life was like in Boston and New Orleans respectively. So on their anniversary one year, they went and travelled both.

❤️ Athena loves baking, and she’s taught Ivy to make some of her favorites like beignets and king cake. In return, Ivy’s taught her a thing or two about fixing cars.

Mandalorian Chapter 1 Discussion

Putting this under a read more cus I know these are gonna get long, but basically, I’m going through and re-watching each episode to tide me over until Chapter 8.

I know this show is supposed to mirror stereotypical cowboy westerns, and I love westerns so I really appreciate how Mando is introduced

God this dude talking about the bounty’s glands is so uncomfortable and weird (are the glands a delicacy? like... for perfume???)

Mando didn’t even spill this guy’s drink, he’s just ready to fight

Mando: if I make a dramatic entrance I will surely draw attention away from my bounty

Honestly, from the beginning of this episode that Mando was going to be an extremely quiet protagonist and I’m glad he isn’t

He could’ve absolutely let that guy go and didn’t need to cut him in half but I suppose he’s not quite as forgiving before he meets Baby

PEDRO’S VOICE WHEN HE SAYS HIS FIRST LINE IS FUCKING HHGHGHGHG

When I first watched this episode, Mando saying “no droids” came across more like “I don’t trust droids driving” like he was cool with them but he just thought having a bounty with a droid might be a problem

I also had no idea why the bounty was complaining about Mando’s Razorcrest because I didn’t realize he’s essentially driving a beat-up old pickup truck that’s falling apart

Like the bounty brings up it being pre empire and all, but it still never occurred to me that Mando might not be the best with keeping his ship updated. He wants it running smooth and correctly but in the end its an old ship with old parts and he most likely isn’t the most skilled mechanic

Mando is just so unnerving when he sits there silently while someone tries to talk to him

It dawned on me that Mando’s ship is the way it is (no sleeping quarters, open backtube, tight spaces, different weapons/storage compartments) because it was most likely some kind of war/transport ship that wasn’t meant to be lived in

Ah yes, the first time Mando horror movie stalks his opponent

God, I always loved the practical effects Star Wars did with their characters, even the background ones. All the makeup and costumes for even the background characters are chefs kiss

I love that this show is making a point to tell the viewers either verbally or visually that by this time the Empire and the Stormtroopers are all but myths/black market people. In the movies, they’re always a strong power but we’re also always seeing it from the jedi/rebellion perspective, here it’s from the perspective of people who were never in the front lines of the war and were never taught what the force was or how it worked

While I want to delve deeper into just what happened to Mando, I’m happy with how they did the flashback montages. It doesn’t feel out of place, it doesn’t slow anything down, and it shows us just enough to understand some of who Mando is and how he came to be where he is

despite Mando’s feelings toward droids, he still takes the time to ask IG if he’s ok, and i think it’s really telling of who Mando is, or can be, as a person

I said it once and I’ll say it again: Pedro Pascal does a wonderful job at conveying emotion through body language!

Even before Mando stops IG, we can see him tilting his head at the baby, observing it and taking it in. He’s most likely having multiple trains of thought at once “Should I kill it?” “it's so cute” “its 50?” “what do I do?” etc. And then he makes the decision: he's a man of honor and this is a child. He shoots the droid who he literally just fought next to and asked if it was alright, all while watching the child. His eyes never once leave it, and then his head tilts and he reaches out, wiggling a finger to the baby. He has no idea what he’s going to do, but he knows that this child deserves more than death, and maybe it’s because he gets a bigger reward for it alive, or maybe because he was once a foundling! Either way, Mando is captivated by the child and honorable.
