The Mystery of the Ancient Blade

"Welcome to the adventure of your life" is something that Wu Xie would say, had he known what was awaiting him and the team his uncle, Wu Erbai invited to solve this mystery. But how could he have known that the ancient blade he found in his basement could lead to him finding out more information than he subscribed for? And how could he have known that he would find people who'd save his life?

Of course, there was no way he could've known that the mystery held so much more than just an ancient blade. And he couldn't have known that the people he met would one day turn out to be gods and all sorts of magical beings.

So, Wu Xie tries not to think too much and just... go with the flow? But it can be hard, when there's a man, who looks almost identical to him and another man, who keeps approaching him. Well, anyway, Wu Xie will try his hardest to solve the mystery. And with the Special Investigation Division's most experienced squad there to help him, he's one hundred percent sure they will solve this. Right?

While going down to the tomb seemed easy for the team, what waits for them behind the secret door is less so. Now they have to deal with an army of the living dead and the fight is about as easy as teaching a pig to fly. So, Zhao Yulan turns to the only thing he knows will work: Shadow Blitz.

Chapter 05: The memory of the crow tribe

The tomb proves to be an easier ride than Shen Wei originally thought. But the murals tell a story Shen Wei isn't sure he wants to know. Or remember it all.

Chapter 06: It's all fake

Shen Wei explains the truth behind the memory of the crow tribe.

Chapter 07: The memory of Kunlun

With Zhao Yunlan’s recklessness, the truth is out. Now, he has to deal with the consequences while the team decides to travel all the way to Kunlun Mountain to hopefully find out more about the blade and its backstory.

Chapter 08: How to save a soul?

The team climbs up the mountain (Kunlun) and everything seems to be going great. Until it’s not and now Zhao Yunlan and Shen Wei have to figure out how to save a soul.

Chapter 09: The truth about the Thunder

Shen Wei, Wu Xie and Zhao Yunlan have a talk about the thunder and how Wu Xie actually lost his soulfire

Chapter 10: Important conversations

Both Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan have something important to share

soooo, on a vacation trip a week ago, I stumbled over @xiranjayzhao's Iron Widow in a book shop in Copenhagen and devoured it last weekend. It was quite the fun read. (And I am not that inclined to mechs 😄 but the rage filled female power fantasy and the setting felt rather refreshing to me) And after finishing the book I had to get at least some art out of my system. As usual it didn't end up what I really intended it to be in my head initially, but also, as usual it has to suffice for now or I'll never post it.

We all know how Wu Xie felt during his adventures to find Xiao-Ge's memories, but how did Xiao-Ge feel through the whole ordeal?

Secrets of the Deep retold from Xiao-Ge's perspective.

When a merman saves a drowning young human one stormy night, the young man gifts him with a name, Xiao-Ge, and promises to help him find his memories as thanks.

The search will take them from Beijing to several strange undersea tombs as they follow the only two leads the merman has, an ancient black and gold sword and a mysterious tattoo. However, someone dogs their every step, and both Wu Xie and Xiao-Ge will have to rely on their new friends if they want to survive long enough to find the answers to the mystery of Xiao-Ge's memories.

Snippet:

 Xiao-Ge forced himself to meditate as their train trundled north, anxiety crawling under his skin until he was almost tempted to tear it off. Next to him, Wu Xie struggled to sit still, his leg bouncing as he checked his watch repeatedly. The young man’s worries only began to subside after he finally contacted another of his uncles.

 Behind them, Pangzi grumbled, looking out of the window and drumming his fingers on his folded arms. Xiao-Hua spent hours on his feet, pacing the aisle as he snapped orders into his phone, only sitting down when Hei Xiazi pulled him into his seat.

 The XinYue restaurant felt different this time, Zhang Rishan’s cloud of danger conspicuously absent, replaced with the eerily familiar silence of a spent battlefield. And a battlefield it had been. Smashed glass and porcelain lay scattered across the floor, and tables and chairs had been knocked onto their sides, some even smashed to splinters. Deep gouges and holes scarred the walls and pillars, and even the curtains on the stage lay torn and puddled on the floor.

 Wu Xie ran through the doors, almost tripping in his haste and finding the nearest guard, a silver-haired young man with sharp eyes. “What happened? Is Zhang Rishan OK?”

 The man shifted his attention to Wu Xie, stepping over a shattered vase and gently kicking a ruined pot plant to the side. “The manager is injured but safe, as is his wife. I have been instructed to show you all to the safe house.”
