Why do women tear each other down?
I often wonder why women tear each other down? Maybe growing up and being "one of the boys" all my life, I didn't see it and wasn't part of all the girl drama because boys don't have any of that.
I learned of it while watching my two girls growing up as teenagers. I realized that there is so much drama amongst girls. Look, I get it, they want to fit in, be liked, they don't really know who they are and they are searching. It's tough being a teenager nowadays.
I remember telling my girls when they were growing up that the difference between a girl and a woman is that a real woman doesn't need to put down other women. She uplifts them instead. She's the one that will fix another Queen's crown.
Unfortunately, a lot of times, that is not true. What is really sad is that there are women, grown ass women we see on TV and in our own neighborhoods, that are still petty and jealous. They are still the mean girls we knew in high school, still wanting to tear each other down.
Hell, they even made millions off of the television show Housewives of who gives a shit. These shows are based on hateful, bitter, petty women that fight for the title of the biggest bitch.
Seriously and people watch this shit and think it's okay to act like this? To cheat and lie, to put each down and scrape like two alley cats? Is this how low our society has fallen?
But here's the question we really need to ask, does it make you feel better, tearing other women down? Does it make you smarter? Prettier? Tougher?
No, it makes you ugly to the core! Sorry, I have to tell it like it is! I don't sugar coat shit, if you read my blogs you know what I say, I am not Willy Wonker!
You are ugly to the core. The fact that you put others down, demean, belittle and treat others less than, because they are not what "your" idea of beauty is or that they don't have the latest shoes or designer bag or their not the right "size". is not okay. I've learned this recently while working in the corporate world. How women in higher up positions really treated the women who worked beneath her. It was really sad to see this.
I think really? Is that what you base your self worth on? If it is then I feel truly sorry for you, you know nothing about being human, being a child of God, or even being a good person with a compassionate heart towards others.
I know that yes, even in church we have women like that, sometimes they are even more ugly because they are "righteous" and "religious" But hey, my Bishop who is a really smart man says "Sick people come to church"
Yes, they are sick, dying inside and so they are trying to fill the bottomless pit where their souls once were. The only way to take the spotlight off of them is to shine it on others pointing out others "flaws"
How many trolls and haters are there on social media today? So many that the sucide rate is up amongst teenagers by 30% from my generation.
People that have nothing better to do than to point out flaws, put people down, or point their fingers from the safety of their computer screens because they would never have the balls to say it to your face.
Ask yourself, do you reach out to other women? Are you jealous of them? Do you really feel happy when good things happen to other women? Do you encourage and support them? If you answered no to any of these questions you need to look inside yourself and figure out what's missing inside in you. Is it because you are not whole within you, that causes you to need to do that?
Stop and think about why you do what you do and then make a change.
So today my friends, especially my "real" women friends, we need to stick together. We need to teach this next generation what a real woman looks like. That real women uplift, support and encourage one another. And never forget what they say:
"Do not ever look down on someone unless your offering them a hand to get up"
To all of my soul sistas, I could not live my life without you, you inspire me to be better, you are my role models. Amazing mothers and wives, friends and sisters. These women are always there for me with encouragement, with love, a shoulder to cry on and love for me no matter what. You, my friends, are the women I want my daughters to know and grow up to become. Thank you for everything, I love you always!
"Be the change you want to see”

Ok obviously I love Bubbles but the relationship between Ricky and Julian is the core of the show and I think it stops working when it forgets that.
Their dynamic in the early seasons is what sets up their main internal and external conflicts. Julian is driven and ambitious and he wants to make a life for himself. He has plans to go to school, to move out of the park, to start a legit business and be successful. But everyone keeps putting the onus on him to take care of Ricky and (perhaps more importantly) Trinity, and he repeatedly has to sacrifice his own wants in order to do so. Season one ends with Julian making a big sacrifice for Ricky's sake – willingly going back to jail and destroying his relationship with Candy in the process.
Ricky is rash and temperamental and not very smart, but he's also self-aware, insecure, and loving and he really sees and appreciates how much Julian does for him, and genuinely wants to do better for Julian's sake, as well as the sake of his family. When Julian gives Ricky the Shitmobile, he tries to play it cool while Ricky hugs him and repeatedly says how much he loves him; in I'm Not Gay I Love Lucy Wait Maybe I Am Gay (aka the best Ricky/Julian episode of all time), Ricky drunkenly apologizes for fucking up, acknowledges that Julian is always "coming to his rescue", and again reiterates how much he loves him while Julian tries to play it cool.
While both characters do shitty things and make mistakes, they're ultimately both facing very sympathetic plights in the early seasons, and we can understand their motivations even when they're doing "bad" things.
The natural progression of this is that they start to resent each other. Julian gets frustrated with feeling like Ricky is holding him back, and begins to act more selfishly and get more jaded and bitter. Ricky gets fed up with Julian being "better" than him (tougher, smarter, even more attractive to Ricky's girlfriend and a caretaker to his daughter) when Julian hasn't been any more successful than Ricky, and starts challenging him more and acting less vulnerable towards him. This is essentially put into words in Countdown to Liquor Day, when Ray tells Ricky to stop putting all his time and energy into achieving Julian's goals instead of his own.
Unfortunately, maybe because of the huge hiatus in the middle of the show, it feels like we lose track of why Ricky and Julian have become the later-seasons versions of themselves. Instead, we just watch them get worse, and grow further apart, while also hugging and saying "I love you" at the end of every episode. Rock bottom is when Julian co-opts Trinity's wedding money, something season one Julian would never have done. And then he doesn't fix it – the problem gets magically written away, and he doesn't have to change his behaviour.
By the last couple seasons, Ricky and Julian's relationship seems to have completely fallen apart. Ricky is no longer appreciative of Julian taking care of him, and nor should he be – because Julian isn't taking care of him, he's acting in his own self-interest, no matter the collateral damage. The only reason they're still trying to be best friends is because Bubbles keeps demanding they stay together. When Julian leaves between seasons ten and eleven, Ricky gets his shit together, starts a legit business with Bubbles, and starts actually improving. Julian becomes a fisherman (although he is stealing lobsters) and gets a chance to make his own way without having to be responsible for Ricky. Both of them are, pretty clearly, better without each other – and something I wish they had addressed in season eleven is that things would have been better for everyone if Julian hadn't come back.
Things are still bad in season twelve; they get dragged into each other's messes, they commit crimes for each other's sake after attempting to go straight, and they hate each other's romantic partners. On Julian's part, this makes sense – Susan fucking sucks – but on Ricky's part it's the latest occurrence of his longstanding jealously towards every romantic relationship Julian has, and essentially just another way in which their friendship is destructive.
We're going to skip past the animated seasons for now because somehow, miraculously, in the Jail series something different happens: the show course-corrects. We get to see Ricky and Julian without Bubbles constantly present. Ricky gets in a bad place, and suddenly Julian is back to being responsible for him: talking him down at the behest of the guards who clearly know that dealing with Ricky is Julian's job not theirs; yelling at Terry when he gives Ricky dangerous makeshift drugs; doing everything he can to sneak weed in so that Ricky will stop putting himself in danger. When Ricky is lucid, he gives Julian a typically over-the-top grateful monologue, while Julian plays it off. They still bicker and disagree, but their relationship dynamic seems to be heading back towards season one – and contrary to most shows, that might actually be a step in the right direction.

I had hoped that moving out here, getting out of my comfort zone would change me somehow. Make me more sociable, force myself to make friends, and if I was lucky, fundamentally overhaul my work ethic. Pick up a few good habits while we're at it. Nope. I'm just being the exact same person I am but in a different environment.
New, unfamiliar environment? Make it familiar, by sticking to the same routine for three straight months. I don't think I've really gone out to see the city or really do anything outside of the one rave and student socials I've attended.
Unfamiliar people? Get that weekly socializing in by going to the same student organized lunch of all Asian students, just like your friend groups at home.
Study sessions? Who needs them? You're doing good enough.
Idk. I don't know if I should be disappointed at myself or weirdly proud that in the face of everything, there's a part of the "true me" that just won't let go. That I can be sure will withstand all, come hell or high water. It's kind of hypocritical, actually, that I get so offended by society's old guard being so resistant to change and get with the times when I'm basically exactly the same.
"Chase your dreams, do what you're passionate about, break away from what society tells you is 'valid.'" Yet here I am, in one of the most conservative fields of work, the art of our trade sometimes centuries old. Where rank, prestige, and fat paychecks reign supreme. And truth is, despite the ideals I regurgitate like flash card talking points, I did come for some of that superficial shit. I want to shove it in people's faces and lord over people, and feel like I'm better than them.
But I'm not. I'm a slightly smarter than average kid who just keeps scraping by somehow through luck. Who keeps hoping for an easier time over every hill only to see better, tougher people climbing mountains that I could never. Who keeps pushing forward out of spite, and the fear of what awaits me if I dared to stop.
Next hills: midterm, cover letter, summer job apps, memo, and telling Helen I'm gonna unfortunately miss her wedding because of finals week.

hey there specs.  let me know if i ever say a nickname you particularly are not fond of.  i know this prolly isn’t the time to ask you this and i know that it is always best to err on the side of caution.  but with the way the market is and the fact that i am taking on a better investment strategy than before...would you like me to invest any of the money you currently have just sitting in your bank accounts?  i know, it’s a bit ballsy of me to ask and if it helps any, i can just do this as a “you” thing and not as a “we” thing.  i mean, since i’m doing it for my parents and it’s taken my mom a long time to go along with this because my dad has always been telling her that the money sitting in the bank accrues interest at such a bad rate.  i think she/they got a glimpse of what the money could do, even if i am able to earn “so much” on the market.  i told you that even a 5% increase in what we originally invested would be tops already.  1-2% is still better than what a bank could do.  i’m not selling you a car Love...i wouldn’t do that.  especially when it comes to something important like this and your future.  i’m just saying.  with my parents, they are being conservative and i am investing conservatively for them.  i’m using my account as the “experimental” account.  i told you that i had to learn some “tough lessons”, but i’ve learned them, i’m investing smarter, and i’m okay with where i am at.  with our account, i’m basically using everything i’ve learned, being conservative yet taking some risks where even if 100% of the risks don’t pan out, the conservative part will cover things.  it’s just something that i wanted you to consider but you totally do not have to do this.  i just figure since i’m making my parents money work for them instead of sitting in a bank, i figure i could do the same for you.  either way if you entrust it to me as an “us” or “only you” thing, i’ll be okay.  your best interest will always be at heart for me.  this may be a limited time offer deal.  who knows how much of a dick i really am...*ws*  actually, it’s just more so because of where the market is at the moment.  there is some parts that will be difficult to predict but as i’m telling my parents, it’s good that i have the money there and ready to invest instead of waiting on them and possibly missing out on a moment.  and there is a limited time/window before the economy will start back up again.  if money is invested later than sooner, people will still see a gain, but not as much as the potential as far as sooner.
hey...no pressure on this, okay?  it’s something i’ve been thinking about as far as for you and me but maybe i have a weak spot for you, who knows.  but i thought i’d reach out to you about this.  you don’t have to explain either way if you choose to take me up on this offer or not and you don’t even have to tell me if it’s for you or us.  if you decide to take me up on this offer, just let me know what your thoughts, how you would like me to invest, be it super conservative, conservative, or moderate.  like from a scale of 1-10, 10 being balls out risky, i’m thinking the highest i would go is a 5-6.  you can even let me know the mixture/ratio of conservative to risky investments you want in your portfolio so you have some say and control since it is your money.  just let me know what you think.  this is something i have thought about for a long time, ever since i opened up the account for us and throughout this market randomness.  of course it would mean more if it was an “us” thing but i think for now, we shouldn’t look at things that way.  i don’t want to make things tougher for you.  and if you decide you want to do this but at some point you say, “i want all my money back”, i can just sell off whatever i’ve invested in that moment and do as you ask and give it all back, no questions asked.  gawd i hate that i sound like a car salesman.  i just want you to know that this is something that i want to be able to do/offer to/for you.  like i said, i’m already doing it for my parents, why not do it for someone i also care for.  let’s get this straight...not selling you a car...*ws*  i honestly wish this was happening under better circumstances where this would be happening with the market and we would be able to talk this out and make a decision together...*sigh*  but it is what it is and unfortunately this opportunity is happening when you and i are where we are currently at.
sooo...yeah...
have a good night and approaching that half way point in our week.  hope you were able to smile a little today since we were able to “chat” a little more.  it was a very welcome change to how life has been.  i appreciate it/you.
oh...and apparently you are more cognizant than i am of certain things.  i type with almost no filter.  let me know if i need to modify/delete things like earlier.

Fiona Hill left a legacy for angry women during impeachment hearing
https://www.cnn.com/2019/11/23/politics/fiona-hill-angry-women-impeachment-hearing/index.html
This pisses me off on several levels. If you don't wanna hear that KEEP SCROLLING....still here? Let us begin. It is so FUCKED that so many men don't know how to interact with women. Guys, there are more of them on Earth than you. Also, if you are white that will soon be the case in many more categories so if you're behind on understanding that which is different from you get to learning. This also hit so close to home it's laying next to me in bed. My partner just in the last few months rejoined the workplace after being a full time student or part time unpaid intern for four years. Unfortunately, she landed in a position with not one put two broken men that had no idea how to work with a woman smarter and tougher than themselves. Some would feel bad for those two. FUCK THAT NOISE. Over the course of the last two years since '#MeToo' swept through all our screens I repeatedly see some half assed apology/mansplaining of past offenses. "It was a different time" Andy, it was 2013. "Things were run different then" Mike, it was still wrong to treat a woman different than a man at work. So, reader if you find yourself unsure of a professional setting because of a woman (and yes, that includes 'Identifies As Woman' but I am only working one problem here) the problem is not the changing times. It. Is. You. Now, if you feel like you and those you feel a brethren with are being made out as monsters then allow me to use and pointed quote from Jurassic World:
Monster is a relative term. To a canary, a cat is a monster. We're just used to being the cat.
Knuckle dragging dudes, the day of 'grab 'em by the pussy' is at late dusk. If you don't learn, adapt, and change you die out. That is something that has not changed.
TL;DR : Adapt or be unemployed and lonely.

page turner
*** hey! this is a project i did at college this semester! the prompt was to present on something that gave our lives meaning, so i wrote a letter to my dad. plus i’ve been itching to post, but i’ve been too busy to write something new... thanks for letting me be both corny and vulnerable :) sra ***
When given this project, I was torn on what gives my life meaning. There’s plenty of things that fill me up with joy. Music has always been healing to me, but you can hardly classify dubstep and techno as therapeutic. I really like Trader Joe’s but eating your weight in cookie butter has its consequences. Makeup has always been an amazing way to express myself, but I understand it’s hard for people to believe I can do some sharp ass winged eyeliner, considering I look like I’ve been forgetting to wash my hair for the last four years. Even amongst all these things that make my life sweeter, nothing compares to my family. My dad, in particular. My dad taught me the value of education. He spent weeks on my elementary school science fair projects, tutored half of my high school statistics class over Skype, and even made me a list of 100 books to read before I graduate college. I just started #38 “Ham on Rye” by Charles Bukowski last night, but we’ve got a long way to go. He introduced me to literature, one of my greatest passions. Obsessed with crafting lavish stories that will keep you perched so far on the edge of your seat that you’ll forget to breathe, my dad is the brightest mind I’ve ever known. His consistent encouragement helped me overcome the anxieties and doubt that clouded my potential. Not only did I want to share with the class how my dad brought purpose into my life, but I wanted him to hear it too. Or read it… I wrote this sappy letter, but when I need them most, words fail.
Hey Dad,
It’s strange to think that I’m over halfway done with my collegiate experience, when it feels like just yesterday, you were still helping me with my times tables. For the first time in a long time, I am excited about learning. I am engaged in my classes (after 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep), I look forward to doing homework, and I feel like I might actually have a shot at doing something great when I’m out of here. For months, I panicked about what I was going to study. The devil on my shoulder told me English was a waste of a degree (it’s not). The devil on my other shoulder told me I wasn’t creative or bold or funny enough to ever tell a good story. But you, my middle-aged angel, encouraged me to follow my instincts and tell my story. I’ll never forget when you told me, “It’s the only story you get, so make it a page turner.”
It started in my bedroom when I was maybe four years old. I couldn’t seem to sleep with my closet door wide open and you found yourself sitting at the edge of my bed while I spoke incoherently about the monster that was watching me from behind my shirts and dresses. This was when the joy of story-telling was brought into my life, as you configured a story about the monster. You told me that the monster was scared, just like me, and every time I couldn’t sleep, neither could he. In hindsight, this was probably the biggest parenting cop-out ever, but it cured my nightmares. However, you still found yourself at the foot of my bed nearly every night after since I wanted to know more about the closet monster. What was his name? How old was he? Did he have a little brother like I did? You had me immersed in a world that didn’t truly exist, something that only a true storyteller could do. I was an intuitive little girl, so I knew your stories couldn’t possibly be real, but sooner or later, your stories became ours.
The first true book I ever read cover to cover was “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”. I sat in the cramped backseat with Alex as our overstuffed car inched forward in traffic towards the annual family reunion in quaint Idaho. I don’t know why we always had to reunite with Mom’s redneck survivalist side of the family, but you have very little say in family matters when you’re six years old. Between heaving fistfuls of Cheez-Its and those waxy fruit snacks that Mom always tried to pass off as real Gushers, I sat with a book gripped in my hands, its pages overflowing in my tiny lap. Every few minutes or so, a timid, “Dad, what does this word mean?” would escape from the backseat and be met with a simple definition, an example sentence, and so on and so forth. A grueling nine hour drive later and I had finished my first chapter book; I couldn’t stop gushing about how awesome Hermione was “because she’s smarter and tougher than all the boys”. The constant support I received to keep on reading led me to discover characters that inspired me. I found a sense of identity through intelligent young girls who stood firm in the face of danger. When it was time for us to begin the journey back to home sweet home Nevada, you surprised me with the second book of my new favorite series. I read out loud to the whole car for hours until my eyes got heavy and I fell asleep with another story whirling around my head.
Unfortunately, the older I became, the less I enjoyed reading. High school started to hinder my imagination and I was eventually diminished into just another statistic for the school district. It became less about telling a story and more about being able to analyze a story and condense my thoughts into a well-written, well-structured essay worth half of my grade. MLA style or bust! Reading books with you definitely wasn’t cool anymore (sorry) and we drifted apart. When I was seventeen, you were admitted into the hospital for a severe complication from one of several surgeries. Even with a bleak chance of survival looming over our heads, you still managed to give me a new story every time we came to visit, be it about a nurse you liked or a dumb commercial you had seen on television. Seeing someone so strong become so vulnerable really broke a part of me, but I ultimately became more appreciative of all the great experiences you had given me. I would run to the library before each visit, frantically searching the shelves for whatever request you had scrawled on a sticky note during my previous visit. Sitting by your side for hours, finishing off the pudding cup stash you were saving for me, each of us with a different book in our hands, pages turning every few moments. Even on your worst days, your sickest days, your weakest days, the powerful stories we read side by side outshined every moment of suffering. It was this point in my life that I realized the power of a really good book, and in an instant, my love for literature was reignited.
You made me realize that there is so little time to spend focusing on minute details and irrelevant characters. The only plot I should be worrying about is my own, since I am my own story, all by myself. I will always look back fondly on our weekly Saturday dates to the public library, and getting lost at the bookstore amongst the towering walls of bindings and pages, and staying up all night to finish a novel so you’d take me to the movie premiere, but I can’t wait to make the same memories with children of my own one day. Your love of books helped morph me into the most inquisitive version of myself, always eager to pick up something new to read, but always reminiscent of the texts I cherished when I was younger. “The Poisonwood Bible” (which was the first book I had recommended to you) has a quote that often makes me think of you: “I attempted briefly to consecrate myself in the public library, believing every crack in my soul could be chinked with a book.” You helped me discover parts of me that I didn’t know were there and encouraged me to be proud of all my cracks and dents. Don’t worry, I’ll make you sound totally awesome in my memoir one day. Thank you for introducing me to the whimsical worlds hidden between dusty pages and 12-point font. You helped excavate the purpose that had been buried inside of me all along. I am eternally grateful to be your daughter and I’m excited to see what crazy stories lie ahead for us. How’s this for a page turner?
P.S. I spent that $50 you gave me over Thanksgiving break at Barnes and Noble. I’ll let you borrow the books I picked up. Please send more money.

T’Challa/tony 35
(35- one of them trying to get the other one off of drugs au) Damn, you had to give me a sad one, didn’t ya? I had a little trouble coming up with a concept so hopefully this is alright! Featuring a lot of Killmonger because… I don’t know how that happened? And I flipped what I was initially going to do so uh… hopefully this comes out ok.
***
Tony looks at N’Jadaka and, oddly, they share a moment where they’re on the same page thinking the same thing. It doesn’t happen often thanks to the general anger N’Jadaka had towards… well, life and most things in it, but this is the kind of thing he and Tony had experience with probably in equal parts if with vastly different circumstances surrounding drug abuse in their lives.
It helps that Tony has been a drug addict himself though N’Jadaka hasn’t. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t know what to do though. “I’ve got this,” he says quietly and Tony nods, moving off to find whatever the hell T’Challa was on.
“What is going on?” Nakia asks, confused and scared.
“He’s gunna be okay,” N’Jadaka tells her. Its true but barely. Whatever it was he took it’s probably tainted, but he’s loopy, not totally fucked. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately in this case, Tony knows how to tell the difference.
“That doesn’t explain what’s happening,” Nakia points out and Tony finds T’Challa’s stash easily enough. Careless, he thinks, to hide it in an obvious place like the small Wakandan box he always seemed to keep close. For reasons Tony doesn’t want to guess at now but they’re past that kind of thing.
“He took something,” Tony says softly, “whatever this is something’s wrong with it.”
“I’m okay,” T’Challa mumbles in his native language. Its so garbled Tony only just understands it and he sighs, tossing at least one of T’Challa’s stashes aside and going to T’Challa.
“I know you are,” Tony says softly, carefully brushing his thumb over his cheek. N’Jadaka gives him a confused look, as does Nakia, but the reasons are different. Nakia knows what T’Challa just said and clearly didn’t understand Tony’s reaction. N’Jadaka is irritated that, once again, Tony seems to have more access to cultural knowledge that he doesn’t. It isn’t like Tony can help that though, or T’Challa really. This is all the result of someone else’s mistakes but T’Chaka isn’t in the country to blame so Tony gets the brunt of it.
“He said he’s okay,” Tony explains and N’Jadaka rolls his eyes.
“Yeah, you’re just fucking fine T’Challa. You’re only on bad drugs,” he says in a harsh tone. Nakia looks slightly offended at N’Jadaka’s comment but Tony knows his type. Maybe he sounds heartless and harsh, but its because feeling things is hard. And he feels so much all the time already.
“You’ll be okay too,” Tony tells him. Because he will- N’Jadaka is a survivor in ways Tony admires even if they don’t much get along. Or more accurately N’Jadaka kind of hates him while Tony mostly avoids him, though he holds a distant respect for him.
“What the hell do you know about me?” he snaps in his usual fashion.
“Mostly nothing,” Tony admits freely. “But I do know you’re tougher than you look.” Probably because he looks like an art hoe but Tony doesn’t tell him that. N’Jadaka gives him a dirty look and stands, giving T’Challa one last glance before looking away.
“I thought I was done with this shit,” he mumbles more to himself than anyone else and he walks away. Tony is sure he isn’t coming back, not for some time anyways, so he sets to work coaxing T’Challa into a chair instead of his place on the floor. Nakia helps and, strangely, defers to his instructions while he carefully arranges T’Challa into a more comfortable position.
“Why would he do something like this?” she whispers to him when T’Challa falls asleep. Tony makes sure to check to see if its a natural sleep or if he’s passed out and thankfully its not the latter.
“I don’t know, Nakia. But we should be be more worried that none of us noticed.” Tony, he’s never been subtle about addiction though he knows lots of people that are. That just makes things all that much more difficult to manage and monitor. They will manage though- between him, Nakia, and N’Jadaka they’ll ensure whatever the hell T’Challa is thinking will stop.
*
By the time T’Challa wakes up N’Jadaka is back and Tony is, god help him, in intervention mode. “The good news is that for once I’m not on the receiving end of one of these things. The bad news is that you are,” he tells T’Challa. “What the fuck?” he says in place of all the eloquent speeches he had planned in his head because real life isn’t a daydream.
T’Challa sighs, thankfully looking much better than he did a few hours ago. “I just need the extra focus sometimes and-”
“Then don’t do drugs, dipshit,” N’Jadaka snaps. “You had everything handed to you and you’re going to throw it away for drugs? Are you fucking kidding me?” he asks, shaking his head in disbelief.
“I have it-” T’Challa starts but Tony cuts him off.
“Under control,” he finishes. “Let me guess- you also only use them when you absolutely need to, which you consider sparingly, and you think you’re not addicted. You’re preaching to the choir buddy, I used to be an addict so don’t pull that shit with me you’re smarter than that. What were you thinking?” he asks, his tone softer on that last bit.
He sighs, sitting back in his seat and rubbing his temples. “I have a lot of responsibility and I just don’t have enough time in a day- this helps,” he says.
Tony lets out a long sigh but N’Jadaka cuts him off. “You do drugs for Wakanda, really? That’s what you’re going with?” he asks, rolling his eyes. “You do drugs for you, don’t act like Wakanda has anything to do with this,” he snaps.
Its not exactly true, Tony can see it, but N’Jadaka isn’t exactly wrong either. “T’Challa you know how this ends, you literally watched it happen with me. You want that birthday party to happen to you except instead of a crowd of people in your house its a country you’ve failed? I get being under pressure and I get the loads of responsibility you have but you aren’t exactly in this alone. Talk to your Council, your mother, Nakia, tribal leaders, basically anyone. You don’t do drugs about your problems, T’Challa. Believe me, I know that better than most.”
T’Challa looks away, “I didn’t mean for this to happen,” he murmurs.
“Yeah, neither did I,” Tony says softly. “But you’re a lot stronger than I ever was, and you have a lot of people to help you. And we found all your stashes and enrolled you in a discreet rehab facility you’re leaving for in an hour.”
T’Challa gives him a dirty look, “really?” he asks, irritated.
“Get that ungrateful look off your face,” N’Jadaka snaps, “you’ve got more opportunities to improve than most people in your situation so shut up and take it.”
“Are you done?” Tony asks, giving him an irritated look.
“What’s that for?” he asks and Nakia finally rolls her eyes too.
“I don’t know why you think reminding him of his situation will help when that’s what got him here,” she says. “And you. Why didn’t you say something? We all would have helped.”
Tony already knows the answer but T’Challa responds helpfully anyways. “I didn’t want to look weak or incompetent,” he murmurs.
“And your solution was to be a drug addict?” N’Jadaka says. He opens his mouth to say more but Tony cuts him off, knowing something cruel is about to come out.
“Asking for help isn’t weak, T’Challa. Its what normal people do- its what good leaders do when they realize someone else might know better than them. No one would have looked down on you for that,” he says.
“He’s right,” Nakia throws in because she’d know better than him. “None of us want to see you fail, and absolutely no one would look down on you for needing help. So please take ours.”
It takes a few moments but T’Challa finally nods and they all look relieved, N’Jadaka most of all.
*
“You’ll be okay,” Tony tells him, “Nakia has already redistributed all the tasks you usually do so your absence will go smoothly,” he adds. T’Challa has to be worried about that and Tony doesn’t want it to distract him from recovery. And Nakia is frighteningly efficient, like Pepper but with martial arts capabilities. Tony finds her as impressive as he does frightening, but he also knows that T’Challa trusts her more than most everyone else so if he says she’s made sure his responsibilities are covered they are.
T’Challa presses his forehead to Tony’s. “Thank you,” he says softly.
Tony allows himself the moment, letting it sink in for a bit before he pulls away. “You’re welcome,” he says, taking a step back. T’Challa goes to turn around but N’Jadaka speaks first, calling him back.
“Wait,” he says, standing there awkwardly for a moment when T’Challa turns. It takes a few seconds but he eventually moves forward, hugging T’Challa tightly. “I don’t want to lose you too,” he whispers and Tony looks away from the moment. He doesn’t know if its because of how intimate it feels or because he’s about to cry but he gives them space.
“You won’t,” T’Challa assures him. “I’ll be alright.”
“You better be,” N’Jadaka sniffs. “If you think you’d ruin the country imagine what I’d do to it.”
T’Challa laughs, “well, you could always abdicate to Shuri,” he points out but N’Jadaka snorts.
“Hell no, I’ve always wanted to be a king. But I’ll just kick your ass to get the throne instead,” he says and T’Challa shakes his head.
“In your dreams, N’Jadaka,” he says, turning and walking into the facility.
N’Jadaka turns to Tony, “I don’t think he knows how good I am,” he says and Tony smiles.
“He definitely doesn’t, but if you could go easy on him I’d appreciate it.” N’Jadaka grins and Tony knows that’s definitely never going to happen.

FBA master and our handsome friend Chris Jones (also known as "Chrissy J") from the U.K, an Amazon private label seller and brand building specialist with over 3.5 years of experience within the industry, wrote this fabulous article for you, our readers. Chris energizes everyone around him and creates engaging, full of finest pieces of advice articles.
Tumblr media
Amazon product research takes time, commitment and most of all, patience.
Many up and coming Amazon FBA sellers are always looking for that quick and easy fix these days. Wanting to find the best and most profitable product to sell on Amazon with minimal effort put into the process.
Unfortunately, Amazon product research does not work like this..
In this blog, I will guide you through the processes needed in order to find a profitable product to sell on Amazon (not just one that will make you a few sales here and there, an actual long term product that will make you consistent sales and bring you in consistent cash flow).
Ready to jump in? ;)
AMAZON PRODUCT RESEARCH
Just before we begin, I want to make sure I go into enough detail on each and every step to come. If you have any questions whilst going through this, simply drop a message - slide into my Facebook profile (Chris Jones), and I will be more than happy to answer any questions that you might have.
POTENTIAL PITFALLS TO AVOID
Below are some of the most common mistakes that most Amazon sellers make when getting stuck into this business. Please be sure to take note and learn from these pitfalls so you can save time, stress, energy and money when going jumping aboard the Amazon selling train.
1. PRICING TOO LOW
This is such a common misconception when it comes to pricing a product on Amazon. Personally, I believe it comes down to the difference between these two thinking processes:
If I price my product too high, nobody will buy it
If I price my product too low, I am running the risk of devaluing my brand and product
So, where does this leave things with pricing when it comes to Amazon product research?
You have to make the clear choice of either of the following when going through your own pricing marks:
Price lower than your competition (cheapest in the market)
Price the same as everybody else (I like to call this "Stampede pricing”)
Price higher than everybody else (premium in the market)
I know which of the options I would choose..
The most common mistake is setting your sale price like everybody else. This will create a race to the bottom in terms of pricing and can have detrimental effects on your products, brand and overall business.
Seriously, why would you price your product based off what your competitors set their price at? It makes zero sense. None what so ever. You don't know how much their label, product, website, other costs are that come into their financials, so why would you guess that your product costs the same as theirs and you should price the same? Just don’t even go there.
Another point to consider is undervaluing your product and brand. If you price too low, you will run the risk of creating "That cheap brand" kinda name for your product range. This is clearly something you want to avoid, so be sure to pay attention when pricing your products on Amazon (and anywhere else where you sell your products for that matter).
2. FAILING TO DIFFERENTIATE
While you may have heard "It's super simple to make money on Amazon, yo. You just chuck a basic product up and watch it sell!" Ummm, no sir. This tactic may have earned you a few dollar bills back in the starting phases of selling on Amazon FBA, but as time passes, the game gets tougher and customers get smarter and clearer on their buying decisions.
Sadly, you cannot just slap a label on a coffee mug and stroll into the bank to deposit your winnings anymore. In our day and age (early 2018), it would be extremely challenging for you to spontaneously select a product that is selling well and get it on Amazon in its basic form, with zero to minimal differentiation.
Older, current and soon to be new Amazon sellers MUST grasp the importance (and power) of bringing a product to market that stands out leaps and bounds from the competition. By creating such a product (or a bundle), you will have the glorious option of pricing your product on the lower end of the market (no thanks), or to become the premium price seller in the market (yes please), as your product will be different, unique and offer a specific something else that no other product online offers. Sound promising? You bet'cha! ;)
Just to answer the question you are begging to ask me; Yes, a better product (higher quality, better functionality, nicer design etc..) will indeed cost you more money to produce the product, but you will be in full control of your sale price based on the quality you have created to separate you from the other products on market.
"Invest in quality, shine in profits."
- Ya boy, Chrissy J :)
Tumblr media
3. NOT IMPROVING YOUR PRODUCT
This is something I actually executed extremely well starting out when bringing my first product to market on Amazon UK (sports supplement). I focused my energy and attention on bringing a product to market that was currently doing great sales but had products on market with some real bad reviews (1,2 and some terrible 3 stars also). The power of product research on Amazon (when you know what you are doing) is that you have a flood of feedback data for how you can improve your product right off of your competitors product listings.
Someone give me a hell yeaaaaaah!? :)
As a prime example, you might have an average product in the Pet Supplies category on Amazon selling over 400 units per month, but has poor and sloppy low star reviews. I know I could take that product (and so could you), improve on it, bring it to market, generate more sales, better reviews, and of goes dynamite!
Now this is the way to do effective Amazon product research (and capitalize royally on other sellers negatives).
When looking through my competitors’ reviews starting out selling sports supplements, I started to see a pattern merge. Most customers were not happy with the dosage a single capsule contained, the size of the capsules and also the quantity of capsules per tub. All I did then, was take note and apply to negatives from what competitors’ customers were experiencing and turn those into bright, shiny and sparkling positives upon creating my own product.
Then, I created my product page listing to specify the unique points of my product that were not being included with others on market (bigger and MUCH more popular branded products I might add..).
Magic? Of course not. Okay, maybe just a little..
18-months later, that product made me over £100,000 in total sales and maintained the actual Best-Seller tag for the majority of that duration. Not too shabby, eh!? :)
As you can see, there is no such thing as reinventing the wheel here when looking to get ahead in the market, it often comes down to a common sense style of approach with a hint of creativity.
Now that you have dodged some potentially sales and cash flow threatening obstacles, it's time to move on and talk about some strategical moves when it comes to Amazon product research.
THE VERY REAL OPPORTUNITY
With online marketplaces growing more and more in popularity, Amazon continues to own (and dominate) a large percentage of the online space when it comes to this. With over 240 million+ active users on Amazon, the opportunity for sellers to jump on board has never been so great. As Amazon's profits grow, yours can too as an Amazon seller leveraging their sales platform.
But of course, with demand and popularity of a given something, the rise of potential concerns for increased competition and saturation in the market also begins to rise.
The good news is, You can tap in and create your own little sub-niches if you follow the right procedures for effective Amazon product research, helping you to move away from the fast and furious categories that all so many Amazon sellers are trying to get their own slice the cake of.
I'm about to show you how you can ensure proper product research when starting out in this online business so you don't have to fall into the "same as every other seller" category.
One last thing, selling on Amazon in my opinion will continue to grow in popularity. If you are serious about getting started, begin sooner than later. Period.
CONNECTING WITH A WINNING PRODUCT
Just like many other Amazon sellers out there (yes, including myself), have gone through the motions when beginning their Amazon product research and turning it into a trial and error kinda thing (1000% not needed, yo!). It's down to this trial and error phase during my own product research for selling on Amazon that has helped me learn a lot, gain a shed load of experience and to succeed at this business model.
I started selling 2-years ago within the Health & Personal care category on Amazon (selling supplements), and in all honesty, I didn't have the slightest of clue what I was doing with product research. Like not a single clue.. So what ended up happening!? I totally guessed my first product and luckily enough (extremely lucky) managed to sell £100,000 worth over in a 2-year duration.
Do I advise you follow the same protocol as I did? Absolutely not. In our day and age, there are so many tools and resources out there that we can use to minimise risk and maximise gain when it comets Amazon product research. For example, AMZScout is a great tool for product research and selection for Amazon sellers, this is a well-thought option to start.
Also, during your beginning stage of product research, you are always going to get those people saying "Trying to choose a product to sell on Amazon is near damn impossible, I have spent over 6-months+ in trying to select a product and now that I have one, I'm still not sure it will sell!". This comes down to lack of know-how, a lazy approach in the way product research is carried out and also a lack of will to actually commit a nice chunk of time to nail this process down (sorry not sorry cause' it's true, yo!).
My advice to you would be to spend a solid amount of hours (15-25 on average) on Amazon product research in total, taking notes of everything that you come across that might have even the slightest amount of hope in selling well.
It's almost scary that so many newbie Amazon sellers think they can walk onto the platform with 2 or 3 hours of product research under their belt and feel confident in the 100+ products they have chosen ready to sell - LOL!
The fact of the matter is that this takes time to master, just like everything else worthy of having or being successful at in this world.
BRINGING BACK THE BASICS
Most people will always look for the more "advanced methods" and "secret strategies" when it comes to product research for Amazon, but when it comes down to the real thing, sometimes basic just works best.
Below are the research criteria that you should look at following when searching for a product to sell on Amazon:
SALE PRICE: Always allow for respectable profit margins (I would opt for between $20-$50 as your sale price on Amazon).
NON-SEASONAL: Search for products that are going to be in demand and able to sell year round (avoid seasonal items).
LOW RISK: To minimise refunds and danger, choose products that are less risky as you could end up with a high refund rate (i.e.; a set of kitchen knives).
EASY TO SHIP: Look for products that are light in weight, small in size and that won't get damaged during shipment overseas.
ZonLifeZinger - Leverage AMZScout's sales estimator to see the velocity of sales and revenue of cash flow (accurate mostly data) for products you are looking to sell on Amazon.
While the above may seem very simple, these are in fact the criteria that all must begin with when searching for a product to start with (everybody has to start somewhere).
Okay, who's ready to ramp up this product research stuff into more depth and detail, yo!? ;)
BEAST MODE AMAZON PRODUCT RESEARCH
Below, I will include some of the "more advanced" methods of product research that you are all so needy to find out about. It's time to turn that "vanilla" style Amazon research into "double choc-chip with a fresh chunk of brotein" homies. Let's do this! :)
1. SPYING ON YOUR COMPETITORS
This is an incredibly powerful tactics that many Amazon sellers swear by (myself included). Being able to find out how your competition is doing in terms of sales and revenue per month (using This awesome product research tool) and also seeing whether their customers have a smile or a frown on their faces after they have made a purchase with them.
You can head on into your competitors store fronts on Amazon and scout through to find their best selling products and capitalise on those top sellers into creating a much improved replica of their product(s) ;).
All you have to do in order to be able to do this is to.. On second thoughts, i'm just going to create a video for you all to show you how..
Any further questions on this? Hit me up on my Facebook profile (see bottom of blog) and I will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have.
2. LESSER COMPETITION MARKETS
For a new Amazon seller going into a market, you might find yourself being up against some pretty hefty competition. I recommend you look for an average review count in the market of under 50-150 (product reviews). You want to enter a niche that has potential for sales even for a new seller, so look for the other listings in the marketplace that are doing a large amount of sales (300+ per month) with smaller amounts of reviews.
ZonLife Zinger - Product reviews can be very challenging to generate these days, this is why I advise going into markets with lower count of reviews so you can successfully compete. Then focus on building up your reviews to match and take over your competitors review numbers faster than you could in other higher review categories.
3. ENTER A FRESHER NICHE
In the world of selling on Amazon, competition (as well as mind blocks of motivation) can be a great concern for new sellers. In the last few months, I have taken a step back to really evaluate the Amazon product research process to spin some structures on their heads in order to carve out fresh, newer and exciting niches.
This in my opinion, is where the magic really starts to happen. I mean common, you see the average Amazon seller jumping onto a hot niche that everybody else seems to be in all of the time, what is the point of that when there are already so many sellers in the market?
Imagine finding a product that is selling 400+ units per month and with the highest review listing in the niche being 60 or even less? That is an absolute goldmine! You now have the option to enter a up and coming market that is already in demand being searched and purchased by customers, and you get to avoid the trap of falling into a gloomy (and often aggressive) market where every other Amazon seller seems to be hanging out.
You'll be less stressed in pestering customers to clock up hundreds of reviews, and a lot less worried about not making sales.
Does the juice sound like it's worth the squeeze on something like a newer market to enter? Absolutely! :)
ZonLife Zinger - If you can find markets like this on Amazon (and trust me you can), just imagine if you created an even better product than the ones currently selling well in this new niche? The potential of making a crazy flow of sales would be incredible!
While there are other processes with Amazon product research in selecting a killer product to sell on Amazon, the above information will get you started off on the right track.

Will the storm pass?
“Keep the faith, the storm will pass” tweeted a good friend of mine this week as Social media reached boiling point after Tuesday nights horror show in the Lancashire derby. I`m not sure it will, I thought to myself as I reflected on the tweet of someone who has an opinion I have great respect for. There is usually a sequence of events when a manager has taken a club as far as he can go. Usually starts off with him blaming bad luck, then poor refereeing, then injuries, then blaming the players. After that it sort of descends into desperation. Alex Neil has blamed the lack of fans or noise but surely that is the same for every team, it is just that other managers seem to get their teams up for the occasions. I think John Beck once had a spirit exorcised from Deepdale and Paul Simpson had a pop at Elvis as I recall. This was a bit unfortunate as the King had been dead 30 years, I disgress! Alex Neil has had his fair share of injuries that is for sure and several of his better players have been sold from under his feet. I think North End fans sort of expect this, after all we are a selling club and always will be under this regime and many before it I might add. However it is the type of football being played, particularly at Deepdale that is making a growing percentage of fans call for change. If you look at Alex Neil`s record in the three full seasons he has been here we have finished 7th, 14th and 9th, which gives us an average of 10th. Now many will  think that is indeed a very good achievement all things considered. Well it is until you factor in some of the garbage that has been served up at home in this calendar year and the managers persistence with playing one striker at home. One shot on target in two home games against teams that were both below us before the respective games started sort of underlines my point. I am still with the manager as we speak ahead of the games at Watford on Saturday and Bournemouth in the week. These are two tough games and not really games or results the manager should live or die by. However if nothing comes back in the next few days from Vicarage Road or the Vitality Stadium then my support for the current managerial regime will have expired. I have never been one for calling for the head of a manager but two more defeats on top of continual poor quality at home may well be enough.
Reflecting on the past seven days it was not the best week we have ever had even though we started off with a home win against Sheffield Wednesday last Saturday. The sending off of Windass certainly helped our cause but the fact that Tom Barkhuizen`s winner at the start of the second half was the only effort on target probably says more about the game than another five paragraphs could. On Tuesday North End fans took a real body punch as we were beaten 0-3 at home by local rivals Blackburn Rovers. The sending off of Joe Rafferty just before the break certainly didnt help but the game didnt swing on that decision. Rovers were slicker, smarter, more agressive and just wanted it more than North End and with Tyrhys Dolan scoring the third goal it just about pput the tin hat on it as far as North End were concerned.
Looking ahead we have a very difficult week coming up with trips to Watford and Bournemouth but with some of the away results this season who knows what North End will serve up. No doubt in my mind that those thirteen points on the road ahve kept Alex Neil in his job and he needs to produce some more of the same as we head down the M6 ahead of these games. I fancied Watford to bounce straight back but they have had more managers in the last few seasons than my local Morrisons. However it is not the easiest place to go to with a full squad never mind with eight first team squad players missing. Anything from this game would be a good result and I suppose the result at Watford might affect the managers thoughts for the game at Bournemouth, which will be as tough if not tougher. We must bring something back from these games but just as important at this crucial point in our season is the performance. Two defeats and I fear Steve Thompson will be caretaker manager for the next home game.
And finally this week :- most of the football world mourned the loss of Diego Maradona who died from a heart attack this week at just 60 years old. Maradona was undoubtedly one of the the all time football greats on the field but I think saying he was the greatest ever is a step too far in my opinion. He was a tortured soul, perhaps misguided and some may call him a cheat for an incident in Aztec Stadium in the Summer of 1986. He was raised in Villa Fiorito, a shantytown on the southern outskirts of Buenos Aires, Argentina and grew up to be the Messiah in his homeland. Love him or hate you have to respect his greatness as a footballer and I do just that.
RIP Diego - one of football`s all time greats

2020
#Whirlwind of emotions. #Ups and downs, #highs and lows, #dips and valleys, #tough moments, #JOY of fatherhood, #emotional wreck, #trough of sorrow, #points of uncertainty, #desire to do better - to have what i haven’t had by doing what i hadn’t done, #falling forward.
2017 -I have been here before, a moment of zero fulfilment, of depression, being less of myself, difficulty and challenges. I rose from it, I grew from it, I had faith, i wasn’t discouraged, i never held back, i gave it everything i had, i flourished and blossomed again, I conquered.
2020 - I hit my deepest lows, i got hit again and again and again, but i will RISE UP LIKE THE WARRIOR I AM, i am responsible for my happiness, I will get it.
Desires, Passion, Quitting, Resentment, Hardship.
I wont stop, I wont quit, I wont cave... I would succeed, I would accomplish, I would keep trying, I would get what i never had by doing something i never did. We’ve been here before. I have been successful in my own way which reminds me that... I am a Warrior, my mind is tougher than I believe, I am smarter than i give myself credit for, I am on a path to accomplishment, I am a winner. Note to me - Keep scrapping, keep working hard. You don't have to impress anyone but you. Now is the time to build. Fold your sleeves up, get your hands dirty, pray to God for direction and guidance and you'll reap and enjoy the fruits soon, keep going and don't look back. You don't have to worry or hurry to live the dream, it's coming, at its time - The right time. Jul 03, 2020. Hafiz The biggest challenge working on an idea in these early days is the wavering thoughts and emotions of whether it’s going to be a success or failure. One minute I feel sure and boisterous about it all, another minute I am in so much doubt I loose all the energy and desire to even do anything about it. I remain unflappable and will keep bursting my ass to get it off the ground and see it through to immense success. It’s so tough glueing all the pieces needed together but we won’t back down. We evade roadblocks not turn back. Jul 13,2020. Hafiz
Don’t be afraid to fail big, dream big, dream without goals are just dreams.
I have seen a pattern in my growth over the last decade. In 2011, i devoted myself to making a 2:1 and better grades. By 2012, i achieved the latter a lot but it became clear I wouldn’t be able to graduate with the grades i wanted. I took all my efforts and channeled it into programming, studying entrepreneurship, networking and creating good relationships at CCHub and also getting mentored by a Google Engineer - Toki. I abandoned school. I never attended classes, was highly anti-social and only wore tracks all through - I was done on the inside. My ultimate aim was to get into Huawei, to be hired as a software prodigy. All the programming, extra hours and tough moments learning Data Structures and Algorithm paid off. All the dedication and devotion paid off. Huawei welcomed a whiz kid. It was no mean feat... Alhamdulilah!   In 2013, the year i got my famous scars, the year i spread myself so so thin, worked my tail off at Huawei. I needed to prove i was more than hype, that i was the real deal - I DID. Colleagues, bosses, and peers were amazed at the prospects i demonstrated. I got stifled by the new HR who didn’t understand why i was so celebrated. I was super anti-social again as all i did was focus on performing my best to seal my role as a Solutions Architect - The first time a college grad will be hired straight to a senior role. Unfortunately I wasn’t given the role officially but i kept performing and excelling while functioning at it. In 2015, the year i grew balls. I found out that i didn’t want to live on salaries and the pennies Segun and I squared from small side gigs with Solar89digital. It was time to play amongst the big boys. It was a moonshot but with a lot of zest, 5X tenacity, we landed a fantastic gig with the Government. It burnt us out but we learnt a lot and made a lot of money - millions. Made my first million and more. Moved into a very big apartment, got a land, travelled to SA and became Product Management Certified, enrolled into Edinburgh’s MBA programme, and picked up my first car from home - A Mistibushi Gallant. Did all these by being super anti-social, focused only on the things i wanted to achieve and grew tremendously in belief, wisdom and experience. In 2018, after just getting married, i knew i didn’t want to be stuck working an IT job in a law firm. In the previous year, i was fired by Huawei for refusing to come to work. My brother connected me to the Job to get me back on my feet. I did get married on the job and was able to put myself together.  However I believed I was better than staying on it - my gut feeling and my soul knew, I just had to prove to myself. Interviewed with NIBSS, Mainone, Andela, Paystack, etc. I finally did great at Interswitch but eventually got sent to Arca/Clane by them. So much joy through the internal hardship of self-doubt and the What ifs. A lot of reflection into my achievements in the previous 5 years and how it would all have culminated into working as an IT guy in a law firm? NO NO NO. Glad i was able to make a switch back into proper Corporate work after a 1 year hiatus. Was humble though and learnt a lot through it all. I did what i needed to do to get what i wanted but then I had to move on from it. Great place to work though. Learnt about foreign culture and human interaction.
2018 further sharpened my mind. I shifted my mindset to how I can test my mettle on an international scale. I started to look out for opportunities in diaspora and this was another moment of digging deep again. I wanted nothing but such move. I was desperate and I wanted it so bad. It however took over 100+ applications, 25+ interviews, and 3 final stage rejections to land at PayJoy. Bottom line, I’m a 100% all-in guy once I’m gunning for something. I don’t fear neither do I frail. My mind is stronger than my body and my brain is blessed to have me to try to make the best of it always. Along those lines, i had a stint at a Big name company to make my resume look good, but we eventually landed where we wanted. This is 2020. Another year of intense growth. I’ve been here before, how hard, tough and painful it feels when expanding, stretching my limits and going to territories I have never been before. I know this feeling, I can tap into this mindset, and now it’s activated - Full Mode. With God on my side, I’m willed, I’m powerful, I’m grateful, I’m tenacious and I won’t stop till the desired accomplishments are achieved. Stepping into 2020, we knew this is what we’d have to go through, and we were ready. Mabrouk came along and there came extra motivation being a father. Yes it comes with a lot of erring and downsides - being Anti-social, excessively private and unwavering in my cause, It’s just how i know best to do it. It’s how i have got results before and it has worked many many many times over and over and over again for me - Why change or break it? I have been locked up in a jail (my house) for the past 3 months, grinding out myself to execute on my entrepreneurship quest. I haven’t stopped thinking about it for a second and i have possibly researched the most in my entire life these last months - even paid for and conducted a lot of research. This is the year it starts and we have to throw the kitchen sink at it if need be.
I am not in a hurry to do the flashy things like getting an exotic car, buying extravagant things. I’ve the money but there is no rush because these things will come whether i want it or not. The money for it will come in abundance and i would even be tired of it and start doing a lot of charity.
I will keep on going till i see my objectives to fruition, no backing down from it, no anxieties. At the end, i would either be a very successful entrepreneur or a failed founder with a lot of experience that can be used to pursue another challenge or company with an even bigger purpose and ambition. I would not have wasted the time. All i will keep doing is “Rinse and Repeat” and if i unfortunately never become that successful business man, in a few years or within a decade, i’d have enough knowledge from all my experiences to be a mentor, a coach or a consultant, which would then make me a lot of money regardless which i can conveniently use for my kids as they grow or live the comfortable life. As far as I see it, there’s no loosing embarking on this mission - Only winning.
More pain, daunting task ahead as we keep Vysend moving forward. Blessed to have Valentina Valencia in our corner. She’s remarkable, pushing the living day light out of us. Had a session on roadmapping and focus before we speak to Sebastian from Seedstars tomorrow. We keep pushing

How to Warm Up Properly and Avoid Injury
Getting hurt sucks!
We exercise to lose weight, build muscle, and feel better about ourselves, right?
Well, it’s pretty tough to do any of those things lying on a couch with a pulled hamstring/groin/face.
Okay you can’t pull your face, but I’m trying to prove a point here so shut it.
Every day I cringe as I watch people wander into a gym, immediately lie down on a bench, and start cranking out their workout with a heavyweight within seconds.
These are the people that end up hurting themselves and missing weeks/months due to ignorance/apathy.
Joke time: Which is worse, ignorance or apathy?
Don’t know, don’t care! ZING!
Luckily, you’re smarter than the average bear, which is why you’re reading Nerd Fitness.
Today, you’re gonna learn all about the importance of warming up BEFORE every workout. On top of that, I’ll even teach you HOW to warm up.
My guess is that you’re warming up because you want to make sure you don’t injure yourself while training.
In addition to warming-up, there’s another key component to injury prevention: doing the exercises correctly and having a good plan to follow!
If you’re not sure how to strength training yet, or you’re looking to start with bodyweight training and graduate to weight training, I’m here for ya!
We made this massive free guide that covers all of this in-depth so you have all the answers and confidence you need to get started.
Check out our free guide Strength Training 101: Everything You Need to Know when you sign up in the box below and join the Rebellion!
Download our comprehensive guide STRENGTH TRAINING 101!
Everything you need to know about getting strong.
Workout routines for bodyweight AND weight training.
How to find the right gym and train properly in one.
I identify as a:
Woman
Man
Why warm up?
Above all else, the most important thing you can do when working out is warming up properly.
Now, you might be saying to yourself, “Come on.  Surely it’s not the MOST important thing…”
To which I’d reply: “First, don’t call me Shirley.  Secondly, if you don’t have enough time to warm up, then you don’t have enough time to work out.”
Boom!
So WHY is it so important?
Think of your muscles like rubber bands.
If you spend all day sitting at a desk, hunched over a keyboard, those rubber bands have gone almost completely unused. Now, combine this lack of movement with some cold winter weather – your bands are now extra tight and constricted. Then, go to a gym and immediately start lifting heavy weights or sprinting really fast – those cold, unstretched rubber bands get pulled apart very quickly and will snap.
#Fail.
So, what about just regular, static stretching then? Unfortunately, just doing static stretching before a workout can overextend those muscles and actually rob them of the power and strength necessary for your actual workout.  #failagain
For that reason, dynamic warm-ups are the winner!
Think of it like a pregaming for your muscles – except replace “alcohol” with “awesome.”  By jumping around and getting your muscles loose, active, warm, and ready for action, you will keep yourself strong and injury free.
On top of that, doing a dynamic warm-up can help activate your central nervous system, priming your muscles for a great workout that produces your best effort.
Add “improved blood circulation” to the list of benefits of warming up, which will help you perform well in each exercise.
Need another reason? When your body is properly warmed up, your muscles and joints are ready for maximum flexibility, which means you can perform each exercise with PROPER form (like deep squats, for example) that maximize results and minimize the risk of injury.
So, whether you are running or strength training…a proper warm-up is probably the most important 5-10 minutes of your day.
Still with me?
Good. Let’s take you through my favorite warm up.
The Dynamic Warm Up
Now, this warmup video I have below is relatively advanced, so you might need to make adjustments to suit your level of fitness.
In fact, this particular warm-up might be more difficult than your actual workout, especially if you’re following something like The Beginner Bodyweight Workout.
THAT’S OKAY (I put a second example that’s easier below!)
Do what you can, adjust the exercises in this warm up so you can complete it, and go from there. See the next section for some suggestions on how to scale this warm-up to your level.
Here is this warm-up written out:
2-3 minutes of jump rope (who cares if you mess up, push yourself!)
50 jumping jacks (pull your shoulder blades back, extend arms and really focus on the movement)
20 bodyweight squats
5 lunges (each leg)
10 hip extensions
5 hip rotations each leg (like you’re stepping over a fence)
10 forward leg swings (each leg)
10 side leg swings (each leg)
10-20 push-ups (scale based on your level of fitness)
10 spider-man steps (each leg)
Yes, there is a lot of work put on your hips, butt, legs, and core. As nerds/desk jockeys, these tend to be the muscles that are the tighest and least active, and thus most susceptible to an injury.
If your arms and chest are particularly tight or sore, you can throw two more movements as well:
Arm swings (holding your arms straight out to the side, and then swing them and cross them in front of your chest)
Shoulder rotations (holding your arms straight out to the side, and move your arms in a circular motion, making bigger circles each time)
When it comes time for your workout, if you are doing heavy strength training (with barbells or dumbbells), make sure you do some warm-up sets before jumping into the weight you’ll be training with for EACH EXERCISE. Always start with a set using just the bar to work on your form and get your body used to the movement.
Then, do a few sets of just a few reps with increasing weight (but won’t tire you out) and THEN start your workout.
The BEginner Warm Up: Variations
Here are some other options for warming up if the above seems too daunting:

Don’t overthink this: Your goal is to elevate your heart rate, put your muscles and joints through their range of motion to warm them up and make sure everything is functioning properly, and preparing your body to strength train!
So, marching in place while swinging your arms. High knees. Toe touches. Leg swings. Punches and kicks. Get your limbs moving!
This will get you prepped for a day of getting stronger.

To answer your first few questions…
What if I don’t have a jump rope? Suck it up and go buy one! They’re dirt cheap, and a helluva way to start off any warm-up. Yeah, you might have crappy coordination, and you could even end up with bruised shins (and a bruised ego) to start out. Stick with it, improve your coordination, and get your body primed in just a few minutes.
Steve, I can’t do jumping jacks/I live on the second floor. Now, if you happen to be pretty overweight or live on the upper floor of an apartment building, then jumping jacks might not be an option for you. That’s okay – the reason I love jumping jacks is that they work out all four of your limbs at once and get you bouncing around. So instead, channel your inner Chuck Norris and do punches and kicks with each leg. I don’t care if you can’t kick higher than your shins and your punch wouldn’t kill a fly…just get those limbs flailing and warmed up!
Um, your warm-up is tougher than my actual workout! The dynamic warm-up above is designed for people who are doing serious training. If you are doing heavy deadlifts and squats and overhead presses, a proper warm-up could keep you out of a career-ending injury. However, if you are just getting started with exercise and you’re only doing bodyweight exercises, obviously 20 real push-ups during your workout isn’t possible…
THAT’S OKAY. Think of the above as the warm-up you aspire to complete. In the meantime, do the best you can. Let’s say:
Jump rope for 30 seconds
20 leg swings and arm circles
10 squats
5 lunges
5 elevated push-ups or 5 wall push-ups
Follow the rest of the routine as planned if possible.
In this routine, your warm-up will act as part of your workout, as you’ll be doing the same functional movements. Do the BEST you can, keep track of your results for your warm up too, and improve with each workout.  With enough consistency and persistency (not a word, but rhymed better and sounded way better than persistence), you’ll be busting out the full warm-up routine before kicking ass at your actual workout!
Any more brain busters?
Hopefully, this is a post you bookmark, as it’s probably one of the more important ones I’ve ever written.

If you read the above paragraph and thought “Yes I am doing strength training, please tell me more Steve! More!” Firstly, thanks for saying please – your mom taught you well. Next: we created a guide that answers all of the questions you might have about strength training, weight training, training in a gym, how much weight to lift, and how much to warm up with.
