Recently I've been trying my hand at reading box boy stories, and although it wasn't my thing, I am very interested in the pet liberation aspect in some stories.

And, so there's this OC in my head, she jumped out of my head DEMANDING I at least wrote a oneshot about her. It's done and queued for Whumptober. But anyway, let's talk about her.

Her name is Victoria. She used to be a pet, until her Master tried to kill her. Luckily, Victoria was rescued, and she survived the murder attempt. Now she works at a nonprofit for providing rescued pets shelter and help for starting a new life. I think working in the bounds of a nonprofit frustrated her.

While it's easier to get funding, it's harder to aim at the core of the problem. Most of the time Victoria is stuck separating pets from owners with blatant proof had done something wrong, like heavy physical abuse or partaking in fighting rings and unlicensed auctions. But it doesn't even touch the general emotional abuse and dehumanization every box boy went through. So Victoria had a side organization, a lot more radical than the nonprofit she worked at. They faked evidence and sabotaged 'good owners' and kidnapped pets from the bad ones who hide their abuse very well.

As a former pet, what really gets her was the isolation. Her world revolved around her master. That's why she stressed on building a wide support system for recovery. And this is also why she tends to be highly skeptical of former pets who fell in love or choose to live with their Caretaker. If she doesn't see you getting a job and going to party every weekend, your Caretaker might as well be your new Master in her eyes. Not exactly a good trait, I know. But understandable.

I'm not sure of her race and nationality but she did say she's bi and in her mid to late 20s. Gosh, Victoria is only a few days old as an OC and I already loved her. She's just so complex to me, and for an unarguably good character that's a lot.
