Learning More About The Music Industry and Understanding Who Calls The Shots.

There has been quite a bit of discourse in relation to the individual rollouts of the members and their solo endeavours.

BTS gave us an as open and honest intimate conversation as they could within the limits of still being mindful of company and personal business. They told us then and time and time again since then what they wanted to do/show.

Since the festa 2022 dinner what they talked about coming out since then is all but nearly done, j-hope, Jin, RM, JIMIN and SUGA have all released solo projects, showed different genres, different sides of themselves, made video game OST, interned at their favourite video game company, guested on several variety shows, worked with huge global artists, promoted home and abroad, headlined festivals, intimate performances, performed in galleries, performed and won domestic music shows, Disney documentaries and a solo tour!

Jungkook is now at the beginning of his solo promotions as the second to last member of the seven to delve into his solo career.

The members from what they spoke about during the festa 2022 dinner have seemingly achieved what they intended to.

I'm not writing to take any individual member's 'side'.

Some members have been vocal in what exactly they have had their hands in, how happy they felt with their involvement in the creative, marketing & promotional aspects of their solo endeavours.

However the discourse has been building among ARMY in regards to the different ways promotion, marketing, and the perceived level of autonomy/control each member has in their solo career and the perceived level of input/support from their company and members.

I'm not going to talk about those perceptions, I'm not going to highlight the differences in each members solo activities, solo output.

I want to bring back, a tiny bit, the reality of the music industry.

BTS Made Hybe!

No question, when BTS joined Big Hit it was a very small, relatively new company. I've spoke about this in a previous post.

Big Hit, before the introduction of Hybe, housed solo artist Lee Hyun, relatively new group TomorrowxTogether and BTS.

After the general public were introduced to Hybe and til date, several companies have joined the Hybe family, such as Pledis, Adora and others.

We would think that BTS would pretty much run the company alongside their Chairman

However that is not the case and not only that, BTS are now NOT Hybe's main and sole focus.

Some things that I have kept seeing brought up a lot is 'global vision', 'accelerate global operations' and 'formula for global success.'

It is *my* understanding that one of the current goals for Hybe is to be able to replicate BTS' UNPRECIDENTED global success again and again, with current artists under Hybe and new artists. This includes the members as solo artists as well.

Whilst ARMY know the names of each of the members and refer to them personally more often than not, we only know the artists we are allowed to know.

We don't know them as employees and that is what they are under Hybe, employees of an entertainment company.

But BTS are Shareholders!

Though the members are shareholders, in comparison to other shareholders, it is still a token stake in the company at best, less than 1.5% stake in the WHOLE company for bangtan as a whole (if equally split by 7 members it’s 0.2%, that’s the rough hypothetical amount of ‘leverage’ each member has!)

The company still has thousands of nameless, faceless (to ARMY) employees under their payroll, the company still have thousands of nameless, faceless people who are invested in the financial wellbeing of the company, and they will not and do not want to be dependant solely on BTS and ARMY.

Their main concerns and considerations will never be to BTS or ARMY but to what guarantees them money longterm and with the least risk. The company’s unspoken but widely understood goal *in my opinion* is to be significantly less dependent on BTS in particular and any one group thereafter. They aim to prove it’s the company that gives success, not any one group or one member that gives the company success. They don’t want their signees to have power over them, they want to tilt the scales back so it is the company that has power over the signees as it has been historically UNTIL BTS.

When we feel disgruntled with a lot of the product that we get from the members, we need to remember we are seeing the END RESULT.

There is a long line and different processes it goes through before it gets to ARMY & the general public. Who has they final say, who allows what, who pushes what, how much does the company allow the individuals to have control over and when do they tighten the leash?

Ultimately it would start from the top and as much as we would want it to be and believe it deserved, its not BTS at the top of the pyramid, but these two and others.

Okay I was watching a let's play of the end of the 2.0 Trailblaze mission and some things occurred to me, so I wanted to write them down before I forgot. Anyway, 2.0 trailblaze spoilers below the cut

OKAY SO. First thing I'm wondering is... Could Black Swan be behind Firefly's death? As a memokeeper, she might have some influence over the Meme: Something Unto Death, and when she takes us to meet Aventurine, he congratulates her on pitting Acheron and Sam against each other. People have already made connections between Sam and Firefly, and I've seen theories anywhere from Sam = Firefly to Firefly being Sam's surrogate "empress"

(For this, remember that Sam is described as being a remnant of Glamoth's Iron Cavalry. From examing the Glamoth planar ornament set, it appears that the Iron Cavalry were mecha that were psychically connected to their Empress, who could puppet them. Everything they did was in service to and in order to protect their Empress. But we know that this Empress fell, so the mecha became untethered.)

If Firefly were acting as Sam's surrogate Empress, he would have acted to protect her. This might be why she got locked in that room, to keep her away from the Something Unto Death, but she found a way out that ultimately led her right to her death anyway. With his "empress" dead once again, Sam may have gone on a rampage of vengeance, resulting in all the scorched Dreamjolt Troupe members we find.

We know Black Swan has the ability to remove obstacles in the dreamscape and to create entry points between areas there. Maybe that passageway to the lobby didn't exist when Sam presumably locked Firefly in that room. Maybe Black Swan created that hallway, knowing Firefly was likely to use it to escape, and then lured/compelled the SUD into killing her. Black Swan may have known this would send Sam into a fury, and planned it to distract Acheron. Black Swan has warned us that even she could be lying.

EXTRA EDIT: Sampo says during the Black Swan/Sparkle companion mission that only the Garden of Recollection has the ability to kill someone in their dreams. Extra evidence for Black Swan being responsible for Firefly's death? She claims right after that not even a memokeeper can breach the protections in Penacony's dreamscape that prevent visitors' deaths, but again, she could be lying.

My second theory is also related to our conversation with Aventurine at the end of the mission. He claims that Acheron is in Penacony under false pretenses and that she is responsible for the death of Duke Inferno off-screen. He also claims that she swiped Ifrit's invite to the Charmony Festival.

But there's a problem here with his explanation. Remember when the Astral Express crew tried to check in at the beginning of the Penacony plot? We ran into a MASSIVE roadblock because the Trailblazer's name wasn't on the list for the invitation. We wouldn't have even been allowed in if Aventurine hadn't vouched for us with Sunday. If we, even with the recognized members of the Nameless, weren't able to bypass that checkpoint, how the fuck did Acheron check in alone using the Annihilation Gang's invite? Her name most certainly would not have been on the hotel's approved list, and she hasn't been shown to have connections to any high-ranking individuals in the Family. I doubt they would have allowed her to check in with just a music box like Aventurine claims.

Did she sneak into Penacony then? I don't think so, as we see her check in at the front desk in a teaser at the end of the Game Awards candidacy video. (Scrub to 1:20 for the teaser clip) The fact that she's in the hotel (and the VIP corridor at that) later in the game suggests that she was able to successfully check in, so she must have been on the list or at least had an invitation.

Black Swan claims to verify what Aventurine tells us about the Annihilation Gang and Duke Inferno, but as she tells us 0.2 seconds later, anyone in Penacony could be lying, even her. So is Ifrit dead? His tarot card burning up in Black Swan's Myriad Celestia trailer (scrub to 2:10 if you don't want to watch the whole thing) seems to support that statement, but I'm not convinced that Acheron was responsible. In that same trailer, Black Swan says something along the lines of "The menacing infernal fire absorbed by the vast, profound sea." And we know that the Memory Zone has been referred to a couple times as a sea or an ocean. So would that imply that whoever or whatever did kill Ifrit is actually associated with Penacony or the Memory Zone? But who? And where did his invite go if Acheron didn't take it? If Black Swan and/or Aventurine are lying about Acheron being the killer of Ifrit, could they also be lying/mistaken about the rest of the Annihilation Gang disbanding?

My pronouns are she/her and as for appearances I am 5’2.5 with brown hair that's dyed purple underneath goes just above my shoulders it sorta resembles a wolfcut. My eyes are hazel. My style mainly consists of cargo pants, Doc Martens and some sort of Band shirt. Most my clothes have an army colour palette aswell dark green, blacks, light browns.

As for my personality it depends on who I'm around. Like 3 People who are energetic and really loud I'll tend to keep a more motherly role, but i think that's cause Im thinking of the consequences there actions could cause. But if I'm around people who are more mature in nature I'll be the loud and stupid one. I can make friends very easily though it you see a group of people at school its likely that I'll know or at least recognize one. Some girl I my class drew me once to become friends with me they said I looked cool, I've never felt more appreciated I bragged about it for months :) not in a mean way it's obvious I'm joking (within the break I took in between writing this I've befriended two 10-year olds) I like kids there very interesting. My humor is very dark and a little mean but I wouldn't make a joke if I know the person isn't okay with it

I don't really have a type when it comes to people I think if they can like me I can like them but I'd think I'd like someone who wouldn't judge me for everything and who can respect boundaries. I also tend to like people who are really passionate or striving for something. As for what I wouldn't want is somebody with to toooo much energy i mentally would not be able to keep up.

And my likes I am in love with music I was dead ass in the top 0.2 percent of Artic Monkey listeners this year I also enjoy sleeping because I can have really vivid dreams to the point were I feel like I've got 0 sleep. I'd say my main hobby is building things with instructions Lego sets in particular, I have a bunch of Starwars Legos in my window in fact when I was a kid we spent thousands on Lego for me the living room was full of them, eventually I even got my own room for them. Unfortunately we moved and now there all in boxes down stairs. Since Lego is expensive I tend to use this pack I found on Minecraft that you build a little city with. I also like video games not shooting ones I like stuff like genshin or stardew valley I was really into this detective game a while back but I finished it all 🥲

She additionally noted Mimikyu's immense popularity with fans since it was revealed, a statement echoed by Catrina Dennis of Inverse. The mobile games are a little weird because they kind of spanned different time frames but if you want a little bit of extra understanding in KH3 then it’d be good to watch the KH Unchained/Union X otherwise it can wait until after. And then Dark Road definitely after KH3.

I honestly hated the mobile games systems so I didn’t beat either of them on my own (I probably could have done Dark Road but after I got a new phone my progress was deleted womp womp) but watching videos or reading the important info is just fine imo. Plus they’re both out of service now anyway lol

Edit: also melody of memory is great if you love the music of the series but if you’re not a melody game person I would say it’s perfectly fine to just watch the last part of the game on YouTube because it’s the only new content other than Kairi giving voice overs for previous games.

now that I've played kh3 here's a short summary on my feelings of each of the games

kh1: janky little game, but really heartfelt and has a really inventive combat system for its time. I remember it fondly for its simple but earnest narrative, but it has plenty of rough edges

re:chain of memories: ROUGH EDGES AHOY. the combat system utterly jokerified me even though it was initially interesting. I think it may have been better on the gba. writing is an improvement on the first game I think, almost utena-esque stuff going on here

kh2: ouuggh I love this one so much. combat is extremely polished, I like that you go to each world twice (which honestly reinforces some of the themes the first game was going for, friendship transcending distance and all, also makes it better paced). story has some proper gut punches but also some really strange decisions, still got me quite emotional at the end.

kh358/2: a really compelling tragedy, and the repetitive gameplay reinforces the mundaneity of the life in the org. sadly, playing it several hours each day burned me out on it and I ended up watching the hd cutscenes instead. definitely meant to be played like a mission or two each day during commutes. best damn final boss music.

kh3d: this one made me lose my sanity. it succeeds in having a dream-logic style story and does some story twists, both good and bad (some people claim them to be retcons and mostly no??? villains lie??? a lot of it was foreshadowed, too???). takes the birth by sleep combat and introduces pokemon and parkour, making it so much more convoluted I had no idea what was happening a lot of the time. the rooms were way too big, to accommodate flowmotion for sure but if you die in them you have start all over. bizarre decisions were made. DROP TO YOUR BOYFRIEND, NOW!!!!!!

The Gatcha Games: watched compilations on youtube. does some interesting things with the backstory of the setting but the serialised release of the story makes it really drag on when watched in one sitting.

0.2: my girlfriends made sure I remember shirtless mickey and they sure did deliver on that. the gameplay is an excellent mix of all the games up to this point, love to see them iterating on things for once. the cosmetic options were a really bizarre choice tonally for this game specifically.

kh3: the single most video game put into a video game. there's so much going on in all fronts. the pixar worlds are great, the disney worlds are mostly boring retellings of the originals. the worlds are all incredibly long and have some gimmick to them, it feels like a billion games taped together. combat is the same as 0.2, good all around. since the disney worlds weren't allowed to advance the main story, the finale goes at a breakneck speed and resolves so many story arcs in a blink of an eye. the ending was pretty underwhelming tbh, no one turned into a boat this time.
