not sure but a neat subversion I noticed is how Gintoki doesn't always rely on his wooden sword when it comes to climactic fights

like most characters have strong associations to their weapons:

kagura connected to the yato through her use of her umbrella

tsukuyo and her introductions usually involving her using her kunai

the Shinsengumi having two arcs (Shinsengumi crisis and Excalibur lol) regarding their swords

just off my top of my head. kinda like how most Shonen function where characters have strong attatchements to their weapon of choice

but gintoki's wooden sword not only is based on a fabricated story and easily replaceable -- subversion of how iconic weapons are used in most action stories -- it is not always used to deal the killing blow

take for example the benzikura arc where gintoki easily accepts tetsuko's weapon to deal the killing blow. I feel there are other examples that I can't think of off my head but it shows gintoki's adaptability and the story's overall theme of change :P

it shows gintoki's strength through the actions he chooses to make, not the weapon in his hand

my mind is on a lot of au’s as of late (probably because I miss writing as much) but I cannot stop imagining spiritual/light worker!reader x tarot reader!mikasa with an enemies to lovers plot. The reader being a daughter of the Orisha, multi-generational practitioner with divine abilities for clairvoyance and stuff. The pretty spiritual girl with her locs and belly chains, nose rings and third eye necklace. And Mikasa, the hot goth girl who’s always been her rival in everything suddenly blows up by doing tarot readings on social media and amasses this big following. Reader thinks she’s cap, that she’s faking her gifts and only using it to gain money/attention. Something happens in their small town, a bad accident and bunch of strange coincidences that leaves their mutual friend severely injured so Mikasa comes on hands and knees, begging for the reader’s help so that they can prevent these tragedies from happening. And figure out what’s going on…they learn a lot about each other and realize they’re far more alike than they realize. They end up having a long talk throughout all of this and slowly begin to fall for each other—

So @basicallyahedgehog also tagged me in Wip Snip stuff, and thanks to you as well, my love. This is dedicated to you, my love, because I wrote this today for one of my two recent Ideas, and you always talk me down when my negative self-talk kicks in, and I doubt I'd have started this WIP without you. (Also tagging anyone who hasn't been tagged yet!)

Harry sat on the work table on the opposite wall, watching as Draco gripped the hammer in his fist and brought it down onto the steel, still glowing from the furnace. Clang clang clang clang it hit the steel over and over again, the material molding to Draco’s ministrations so it narrowed. Harry noticed the flex of his arm, the sweat beading at his brow from the exertion and the heat of the furnace, the way he grunted softly every so often when he gave it a particularly hard whack.

The sound should’ve been abrasive to Harry’s ears. He should’ve taken his leave then, or at the very least dampened the noise with his palms. But instead he sat there, mesmerized at watching Draco work.

After a while, Draco finally stopped and looked up, glaring slightly. “Gawk at me all you please, Sir Potter, but get your arse off my work table.”

After @moon0xygen amazing work at figuring out that Kotallo has lines if you mount the sunwing around him, I had to experiment on something... also go check it out the videos are linked below:

Just the fact of him having THREE different lines is very odd because we don't have missions with him after On the Wings of the Ten besides What was lost. And let's be honest, WHERE and WHY would you mount the sunwing? At the Zenith Lab the only outside area is after you climb the mountain.

Therefore, I decided to postpone his arm quest (I know, right? Broke my heart) I already posted how the dialogue with him at the Grove plays out here

So, logically I mounted the Sunwing before getting in the Zenith Lab and the only line I got from Kotallo was "Now that's a sight, but I hope you're not planning on leaving me behind", no matter what I did next I couldn't trigger the others.

It's mostly him calling over the focus, also the risk of straying too far from him is high. Plus, when I mounted the sunwing before the scorcher, when he was leading her, he didn't say anything, while FIGHTING the scorcher, also nothing.

SO this really made me think: why add three different lines when you don't even have any other quests with him? You could very likely finish his side quest before she acquires the sunwing and even if you make him wait, you won't have SPACE or REASON to call the mount, even less so enough time with him, and space, to trigger all three. This reinforces to me that maybe, perhaps, who knows, Kotallo could be in the dlc, because it makes absolutely zero sense for them to have all these lines there, why pay attention to this?? What we were expecting was climbing the mount without triggering any remarks from your companions, now including them PLUS a variety of THREE different lines??? Seems to me that they put work to that for something way so minor.
