Ted Lasso S3E7 Thoughts: The Strings That Bind Us

I’m starting to think Ted has inadvertently started a cult with one very enthusiastic believer.

I’m 3000 years late but I was like I DO WANNA ANSWER THESE STILL. I have Fitzy on the mind.

After Dark- what was the strangest and most impactful one-off encounter your f/o has had with someone? do they still remember that person and what happened, or do they only remember the feeling or sentiment that it resulted in?

I wonder, honestly, what the answer to this is. We don’t know much about his past in all honesty! I don’t feel that he had any very impactful one-off encounters in canon plot.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there was someone that motivated him in some way to become rich, or someone who who he modeled himself after in his pursuit of doing so (this may be some projection about the Great Gatsby, since his character does have a lot of parallels with Jay Gatsby, and his author namesake is Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald after all so it’s not a huge leap). In my personal HC I think there was likely someone he took inspiration from and that set him on the path he’s on, as far as rising out of poverty into obscene wealthiness. I think it would be someone he remembers in incredibly detail - a moment he can’t forget, when he realized he could become rich, if only he was willing to commit heinous acts (and presumably some luck).

Vintage Murakami- what are some moments in your f/o’s past that they are most proud on and reflect on positively the most? what are your favourite moments from your f/o’s life?

me, who clearly didn’t read the questions ahead of time: ah his past yes-

I think he’s really proud of having achieved his wealth. But I think more than that he was really proud of his daughter and his family! Unfortunately, his daughter passed away, and he’s fighting tooth and nail to find a way to bring her back. So I think the moments he did have with her are ones he reflects on quite a lot.

Favorite moments from canon include the entirety of s3e7 which I have yelled about a few times - it’s kind of an arc where he does some good things as he works to get his fortune back. It shows that he’s very cunning, good at people management, and fucking adorable. Particularly when he storms into a courtroom with evidence he very deviously collected, tells the judge “when I’m in the room I make the rules”, and then through various means has no acquired an entire company. It was ruthless and also he spared a man from an incorrect murder charge in the process.

There’s also his post anime manga appearances but I’ll skip those for now due to spoilers. But he makes the right choice I think and I’m delighted by it. It’s showing that he definitely has a heart. Fitzy redemption arc???

Norwegian Wood- how do you and your f/o communicate in the face of emotional hardships? how do you solve matters of miscommunication?

This is a meaty question. He doesn’t want to beat around the bush. My SI Aura can be a bit dodgy about serious stuff, but he’s going to try and be pretty direct most of the time. While he generally doesn’t care about other people, when it comes to those who loves and cares about, like Aura, he wants to do everything he can to make sure they’re happy and healthy so he doesn’t want to let anything slide. He’s attentive, though I will say he gets mad fairly easily, and it’s not hard to imagine him and Aura getting into a fight where there’s yelling, given their personalities. But once they both calmed down I have no doubt he’d seek her out to apologize and talk it out, which is good because she will hole up angrily and not seek him out so...it works out well. They both definitely need time to cool off after disagreements before they can talk it out properly.

In an interview Ehasz & Richmond confirm that Aaravos never lies, but..

if you understand where he’s coming from, he’s not lying about anything. But you don’t necessarily know where he’s coming from. He never lies, he always tells the truth.

So, how much is the real truth, subjective truths, alternate interpretation of words, or paltering (misleading by misrepresenting select truths)? Who knows.

But I copied all of of Aaravos’ lines from transcripts if you want to try and guess.

Some are kinda funny in hindsight - “ Preparing you for greatness.” Just meant being able to see Aaravos, who is a Great One. (Or very impressed with his own looks).

S3E6 Thunderfall

Soren: What, you don't want me to smoosh that thing? Viren: Do not smoosh the purple creature. Think of it as my animal familiar. Soren: So, you're saying you've adopted a little bug-pal? Viren: Yes, Soren. He is my little bug-pal. Soren: I'll just ride back here with Claudia for a while. Aaravos: Has our relationship truly escalated to this new height? Am I your "little bug-pal"? We have a long journey ahead. While we travel, there is something I have been meaning to ask you. My understanding is that somehow you killed Avizandum. Viren: I've killed no such person. Aaravos: Avizandum was no person. Avizandum was an archdragon, the great king of all the dragons. The most powerful creature in the world. Yet, somehow, you brought him down. Viren: So, Avizandum was his true name. We called him Thunder.

Aaravos: Please, continue. I eagerly await the great confrontation. Viren: We did not find Thunder Avizandum where we expected to find him.

Aaravos: What an incredible story. I am delighted you took down that arrogant monster. Viren: It sounds like you have a history with Avizandum. Aaravos: Oh, I do. He is the reason I am where I am today. Viren: And where is that? Aaravos: He never bothered to mention where he imprisoned me. Viren: You're imprisoned? Your home looks like no prison I've ever seen. Aaravos: Yes, it's well appointed. But make no mistake, this has been my prison these past few centuries.

S3E7 Hearts of Cinder

Viren: So, what is the plan? Aaravos: To fulfill your wishes, of course. Is your wish to rule Xadia? Viren: I wish for humanity to flourish. And it cannot flourish with a knife forever at its throat. Aaravos: So, you wish to conquer Xadia? Viren: No! No, my goal is a bright future for humanity. Aaravos: Right. And this bright future will require us to conquer Xadia? Viren: Yes. Yes, perhaps. Aaravos: The key to achieving your noble aims for humanity is simple. It's the same as it has always been. Viren: The key is the Dragon Prince. Aaravos: Yes. You must take down the Dragon Queen and capture the baby dragon. Then you will have the attention of all the world, and the power to do what you want. But first, there is something we need here in Lux Aurea. Viren: You want us to attack the stronghold of the Sunfire elves? But we need to preserve our forces for the final confrontation. Aaravos: Viren, I'm nothing if not elegant and efficient. We'll risk as few lives as possible… one. Viren: Ah, mine. Aaravos: Yes.

New episodes, new asks!

ANON: “quick question.When are we presented Lois and Clark's relationship before Jon's appearance?Also,is Arthur the child of Orin?”

We weren’t. But still. Jon Kent and Damian Wayne! AAAAAAAAAH!!! The Super Sons will rise hopefully in season four! I’m so excited! And, yes. Arthur is the son of Queen Mera and King Orin, aka the previous Aquaman. I almost forgot about him, to tell you the truth

ANON: “spoilers ahoy but you know what nobody seems to be talking about? when vandal and lex were talking, savage mentioned a 'project' and then lex said something like, 'ah, yes, rutabaga. I'd forgotten.' like????”

Yeah, that was weird and very ominous. What could Rutabega mean? I don’t even really know what a Rutabega is, so I couldn’t tell ya. If anyone else has any idea what this could be, please let me know!

ANON: “There are bigger chances for Jaime and Traci to get together since they are in a relationship in the comics.If you check wikia they mention this fact.”

They were a couple in the comics, but the wiki will also tell you that, after the Rebirth storyline, Traci was remade into a lesbian. While I will admit that there is a very strong chance she and Jaime may be a couple, I maintain my belief that she will go on to date Natasha Irons, as we’ve seen that Steel is already a character and thus Natasha will likely become one as well, and that Jaime either is or will be dating Bart at some point. That could be going on now, or it could be after he and Traci break up, or it could be never. You never know, but you can always hope for what you want.

ANON: “Imagine Wally coming back just to find Artemis and Halo having a cute interaction togheter.Then Artemis is fully aware of his return and Halo just watches the entire scene with this man she is not familiar with.Artemis makes the presentation and Halo and Wally start building this relationship and I could see them pulling pranks on Artemis.Or Halo seeing the way Artemis and Wally act and slowly learning things about relationships from the two of them.That would be super cute!”

I never knew how much I wanted to see this happen until right now! That would be AMAZING!!! Honestly, I just want to see Artemis being a mother figure to Halo more, but now preferably with Wally after he returns.

Considering we now have baby Jon Kent and baby Damian Wayne, I think we’re definitely due for another time skip. And it’ll probably be a big one from the looks of it. Sorry, Nonnie. We just have to accept this as something Young Justice does every season at this point.

Although, I will say that I do believe Will might have already tried something with Artemis and failed after his conversation with Lynn in episode nine. Either that, or he’s secretly harboring feelings towards her. Hopefully, nothing will happen since we all know Artemis belongs with Wally, but who knows at this point?

ANON: “SPOILERS for S3E7 but uhm. can we talk about the person who looked human that vandal and darkseid used to fight those aliens? because it might just be me but my mind immediately jumped to 'oh my god they're keeping wally on apokolips and are using his powers as an energy source and a weapon.' like... we didn't see his hair or anything, but he had the freckles. plus, we all know young justice isn't just gonna show something like that and not mention it again. it's leading up to SOMETHING.”

That’s definitely something people should be talking about more, but I don’t think that guy was Wally. Because...

Wally doesn’t have freckles. See? Sorry, Nonnie. While it is possible that Apokolips could have a living Wally captured and controlled, that kid they used against the Starro aliens was not him

The only time it had any kind of consequence was when another friend of ours accidentally forgot some boxed restaurant leftovers in his car and he didn’t notice for like two weeks until someone else got in the car and noticed the stench.

So glad we’re finally getting the scene of Dutch and Johnny meeting.

I am all for debates about morality during wartime and wondering whether its okay to trust the Cleansed, but it makes no sense for Turin to out of the blue hate and distrust the Cleansed. Like he was working side by side with Fancy and suddenly he wants to lock all them up?

D'avin has every right to chew Dutch out for taking off, btw.

Soooo… Dutch is a clone of Aneela? Or a younger version? That is a whole nother level of weird. I guess it makes sense, though. And I guess the reason they’re the same age is because the Green keeps Aneela young or something. Did no one Dutch’s whole life in the harem tell her 'actually the Yardeens ran away years ago. Strange that you haven’t aged since then and know none of this?“

At first I balked at the idea of Dutch handing over control of the army to D'avin, because hello she’s the main character and I don’t want her sidelined for him. But actually it makes sense. As previously mentioned, Dutch doesn’t do well being responsible for other people’s lives. She’s more likely to flight when something goes wrong. And that’s what makes her a good Killjoy, but it makes her a horrible general. D'avin has military training and knows when to appease people and when to fight them, as we saw.

I am really dissapointed with the direction they took Turin in. He was becoming this interesting, morally grey character. Then, for no reason we really understand, he’s back to being a dick.

Ah well, we are clearly revving up for the finale, so let’s proceed.
