I really enjoyed watching "The Young Ones" today for the first time! Especially since it really gleefully tickled my "Monty Python fan" part of my brain in TYO series 2 since there's the episode "Nasty" (probably my favourite TYO episode) with Terry Jones as the drunk priest (who was absolutely great in!!) and also the "Cheese Shop" sketch reference in the episode "Time" (which was actually my favourite gag that i had to rewind again and again cuz it's very funny joke that I enjoyed 😁)

In 1938, archeological Professor Henry “Indiana” Jones Jr (Harrison Ford) was recruited once more to beat the Nazi’s to another religious relic, this time the Holy Grail. This adventure reunited him with his estranged father (Sean Connery) and, in an odd turn of events, even gave him a brief encounter with Adolf Hitler (Michael Sheard). (Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Flm)

A tribute to Tony Allen, oft-called The Godfather of UK Alternative Comedy
Here, award-wining stand-up Becky Fury pays tribute to her long-time friend Tony Allen, who died yesterday morning, in London… (Photos from Becky’s collection) Becky Fury with Tony Allen Tony Allen was born like most people but, unlike most people, he was born on March 4th 1945, in the last months of WW2 in Hayes, Middlesex, to working-class parents.  Tony attributed much of the anarchic…

Obscure Thomas Parody: Geoffrey The Tube Train and the Fat Comedian by Alexei Sayle and Oscar Zarate (1987)
Tumblr media
This was such a weird comic... I found it when I was 12 at my local library and I didn't understand it at all beyond the fact it was a Thomas parody...
I bought it off eBay and I've come to understand it as half-parody and half-contemplation on comedy by the Fat Comedian, obviously Alexei Sayle, most known for his stand up and his turn on the Young Ones.
Tumblr media
It's also very, very violent and has a lot of swearing in it. Needless to say its a pretty adult sort of comic.
Tumblr media
Its mainly notable for the art and the fact that the artist seemed familiar enough with the RWS/TTTE to actually make the trains look similar to their RWS/TTTE counterparts..
Tumblr media
Geoffery is definitely meant to be Thomas, "Arnold" is just Gordon.
Tumblr media
Henry is obviously the beaky nosed one and I suppose the one next to "Henry" with the smaller beak to his left is riffing off Edward.
I don't know who the one with the mustache next to Geoffrey is supposed to refer to but he's called "Malcolm".
Tumblr media
It seems to have fallen through the cracks compared to "Thomas the Privatised Engine" and even the parodies of TTTE on Australia's Fast Forward program, probably because its so bizarre and lacking in a real story.
