If you had to recommend just one book on atheism what would it be?

Is Richard Dawkins the best source for modern atheist thinking? I read The God Delusion and loved it because it is an easy read and he doesn’t beat around the bush but generally gets right to his point in an interesting way. But it seemed a bit dated having been written fifteen years ago. If you had one book to recommend, what would it be?

There’s little I enjoy more, than sitting in a quiet room, watching the day come to light, or in today’s case: watching the light fade to night. Today I spent not feeling so guilty for “not being productive”, and reading deeply into topics that excite me and morph me into the better person I want to be. Thinking much about the politicians I know close to home, and far across this country (and world tbh) who sacrifice so much in hopes of making our and their communities stronger and more just. It’s the hardest thing most people will ever do with their lives and I’m so grateful for them. I’ve been reading their stories and the stories of other countries around the world; realizing there’s so much I as an Amerikan, don’t know about how basically ANY other country is run, organized or cared for. I know, generally, about European and American imperialist actions and impacts, and the immense suffering that has come as cost, the world over. But I do not know much more than those generalizations. I look forward to learning more so I can be a better ancestor, even if it’s overwhelmingly depressing information at times. I often think of the quote whenever I need self-reassurance to keep going, through my discomfort, anguish, and even despair: “let this radicalize you, rather than lead you despair” #allpoliticsislocal #unlearning #quietplace #beginningofthesemester http://bit.ly/2MhOI80
