I have been so busy lately but I swear I’ll get some prompts for the Shallura week in June. (Need to check which week would work).
It’ll be a Shallura Headcanons prompt week, either one you’ve come up with, one you’ve seen and like, a va’s headcanon for their character, etc.
Some prompts ideas:
Shallura first date headcanon
LGBTQ+ headcanons
First time one or both dropped their guard
Altean courtship/Earthling courtship
Childhood stories
A common Altean thing or Earthling thing that just confuses the other
What else is on the castleship??
And of course a free space
If you have any prompts that you’d think would be great please share! Or any of the above really interest you. ☺️

AlluraWeek 2023 Day 2 - Royalty
Allura turned the delicate gold crown in her hands, in awe of the bright blue gemstones that glowed with the power of Oriande. “This is for me?”
Across the room, Emperor Lotor of the Galra leaned against a pillar, crossing his arms. His expression softened. “You are to be the queen of New Altea. Is it not appropriate to indicate such with a physical manifestation of your role?”
Her eyes bubbled with tears as she ran her fingers along the stones. “Oh, but this is…” Her throat tightened up.
Only one person could have re-entered Oriande to gather the gems for the creation of such a work of art.
Lotor tilted his head, his expression carefully schooled. “Are you displeased with this gift?”
She glanced up, breaking with emotion. “Not at all,” she said. “Truly, it’s the most beautiful crown I’ve ever seen. I simply did not expect such a gift for my coronation, much less that you would forge anything yourself, in the middle of your own trials with ruling.”
He raised a hand to his chest, puffing up in pride. “I am an artist, above all.” He then flicked his long hair over his broad shoulder, walking toward her. “It is my privilege to use such skills in the service of your reign.”
Allura watched him, her face heating as he neared. “How can I repay you?”
Lotor quirked a brow with merriment, daring to reach out. He gently curled her fingers around the crown. “Come visit me upon New Daibazaal, once your affairs are in order. I would gladly entertain the Queen of our neighboring planet.”
“Affairs?” she repeated, voice catching on the word. A tease worked its way up. “Is this in reference to my royal duties or to the many suitors that now seek my hand?”
His fingers ticked against her own, and he playfully set his forehead against hers. “The former, I hope, for I should like to be your only affair, Queen Allura.”
And then he swept her up into a sweet kiss, and she giggled against him before offering him a stolen kiss in return, while they yet had a tick to themselves.

Note
hello, is platonic lotura allowed too for the week? even if there are other ships in the background if their friendship is the main focus?
Hello, and thank you for your ask! As long as Lotor and Allura are the focus of the piece, that's what matters. How you choose to portray their growing bond is up to you!
Thanks for your interest in Lotura Week 2023!

Fincantieri To Build New Ship For Regent Seven Seas Cruises
Fincantieri and the US Group Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. signed a contract for the construction of one new ultra-luxury cruise ship for the Regent Seven Seas Cruises brand to be delivered in 2023. The value of the agreement amounts to approx. 474 million euro.
Representation Image – Credits: RegentLuxuryCruise / YouTube
The new vessel will be a sister ship to “Seven Seas Explorer”, which took the sea in 2016, and to “Seven Seas Splendor”, due to delivery in 2020. With about 54,000 tons, the unit will be able to accommodate up to 750 guests on board and she will be the brand’s sixth-all-suite vessel in Regent’s fleet. As her sister ships, the new vessel will be built using the very latest environmental protection technologies. The interiors will be particularly sophisticated, with every attention paid to passenger comfort.
“We are excited to build on the spectacular success of Seven Seas Explorer and Seven Seas Splendor as we embark on bringing to life a new vessel that will set even higher benchmarks for elegance, luxury and style”, said Frank Del Rio, President and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. “This new ship further strengthens our Company’s robust yet measured growth profile with vessels now on order for all three of our award-winning brands, enabling us to expand our presence globally, further diversify our product offerings and continue to drive shareholder returns”.
“This agreement is the perfect seal of the work our Group has carried out over the years and the role we have gained on the market. We are able to enter and maintain a reference market presence in every niche, including the most unique and competitive as the ultra-luxury one, in which Regent Seven Seas Cruises operates. Quality is the ship owner’s hallmark and it entrusted Fincantieri once again”, stated Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri. “Today we have 10 ships on order for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. in our order book, 5 of which have been secured in the last 5 months, for all the three brands in their portfolio: this result confirms the strength of the strategies we carried out, allowing us to reiterate our leadership in the sector at a global level”.
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings is one of the top cruise companies in the world. Besides Regent Seven Seas Cruises, it operates the Norwegian Cruise Line brand, for which Fincantieri is developing the new “Leonardo” class, 6 units which will be delivered between 2022 and 2027, and Oceania Cruises, for which the Group last week announced 2 new generation cruise ships to be handed over in 2022 and 2025, starting the “Allura-Class”. Besides this, Fincantieri also built “Marina” and “Riviera” at the Sestri Ponente shipyard respectively in 2011 and 2012.

Lotura Week 2023 Day 1 - Space Mall Sillies Drabble
The (Im)perfect Mattress
“Oh,” Princess Allura of Altea—soon to be Empress Allura—whined as she stretched out on a mattress at the space mall. Her blue and purple skirts fanned about her legs in a stiff line. “This is far too hard. It feels like sleeping on the floor of Blue Lion.”
Emperor Lotor of the Galra had lain beside her. His velvet voice was contemplative. “I disagree, princess. In fact, I fear it is not hard enough to support my form.”
She turned her cheek to him, and her curls intermixed with the straight locks of his hair as he turned to her.
“You can’t possibly be serious,” she said. “This is the hardest bed I’ve ever had the misfortune of testing.”
He huffed back at her. “Galran bones are heavier and require significant firmness to avoid misalignment.” His sharp face twisted in a merry pout. “Do you wish back pain upon your husband-to-be?”
Allura moaned, running her hands over her face. “By the stars, this is the third mattress shop in the mall, and we’re no closer to landing on a marriage bed than we were two vargas ago.”
Lotor raised up on his arm, cradling in his cheek in his hand. He playfully narrowed his eyes, which glowed slightly in the mall’s fluorescent lights. “I’ll have you know,” he said, reaching out to poke her sensitive side, “I’m quite fine with this one.”
The princess squeaked, recoiling from the poke and swatting his hand away. “How cruel of you to say. Do you wish back pain upon your wife-to-be?”
His lazy fingers—Lotor had grown more at ease in recent times, more playful—swirled against one of her curls as his expression grew pensive. “In truth, I desire your comfort as much as my own. Perhaps we can cut two mattresses in half and then sew the halves together.”
Allura actively considered the idea, rubbing her chin. “But what if we wish to cuddle in the middle? I do like cuddling.”
Lotor bit his lip as his eyebrows knitted together. Allura’s white curls slid against his fingers. “As do I. Which does pose a challenge to my solution, yes. I suppose you could rest on top of me in such cases.”
Her expression grew mischievous. “Is that an invitation?”
“For all time, princess.”
She giggled, her toes wiggling in her royal slippers. “You terrible tease. We’re already in trouble for, um, holographic interface indecencies during our remote conference with the planet Numoria.”
His eyes blew wide with innocence. “That is besides the point, which is that we have a solution to our marriage bed problem.” His chest puffed out. “We shall graft two mattresses into one, just as we graft our worlds and our lives together.”
Allura, still laying on her back, reached up to stroke Lotor’s cheek. “I do like that concept,” she said, voice soft.
He leaned into her touch, closing his eyes to fervently kiss her palm.
For one brief tick, they forgot they were in public. It took the shifting of elevator music to shake them out of their daze—along with the snapping of pictures from a few reporters from the Intergalactic Gazette, curious of the space royals on their day out shopping.
Lotor’s elfin ear flicked, and he turned to the store windows, the heat in his eyes sapping with a mild embarrassment as his cheeks flushed a deep lavender.
Allura turned to follow his gaze, and she froze, making a noise. “Oh. Um. It appears we’ve attracted quite a following.”
The emperor set his jaw, face still hot. “So we have,” he murmured, voice halted. “Have they been following us all along?”
“I don’t remember them around the first two shops,” she whispered. “Perhaps they congregated upon making the poor shop keeper whine that we are impossible to please.”
He turned back to her. “I do not wish to cause an incident, but I’m afraid pictures of us testing mattresses may inspire…strange headlines.”
The princess giggled despite her embarrassment. “What do you suppose we do?”
“…In this case, perhaps we retreat,” he said. And then he regally slipped off the bed and onto the softest mattress nearby—designed for the water beings of Wutrax II. With royal grace, he sunk into it with his heavy Galran bones, nearly disappearing from sight.
The princess giggled and then stood from the bed, calling, “Oh, but how will we manage to get you out?”
From out of the material came his muffled voice, somewhat in awe. “I’m not sure.” And then there was a beat of silence before he added, “But do you know, this is not entirely uncomfortable. Rather like being cocooned.”
Her face faulted. “Oh. Oh no. Lotor, no, please. Tell me you jest. What was that again about requiring some form of support?”
“I do entreat you to try it with me, and at least you will not be seen by the crowds.”
Allura bit her lip, glanced back at the store windows, and then dared to lean into the water bed, only to squeak as she slipped down into the heavy depression. She found herself lying atop a warm and perfectly firm but perfectly pliable Lotor.
The shop owner walked by, shaking his head as Allura’s giggle echoed up.
“Oh,” came her delighted voice. “Actually, this is quite nice, yes.”

Lotura Week 2023 Day 7 - Cooking Up Chaos
In Which Cats Invite Chaos
Emperor Lotor of the Galra entered his private study and stopped short in surprise, unsheathing his sword to wield against spies and soldiers. But the individual stooped over his desk—with all of its secrets of the empire—was no spy and certainly no decorated soldier that he knew.
Instead, a beautiful woman in an iridescent dress sat atop the wood, frozen, with Lotor’s own cat in her arms.
Lotor lowered his sword in disbelief, as before him sat the living image of the renowned Princess Allura of Altea.
She squeaked, releasing the cat before hopping off the desk in a manner most would have considered un-royal, her skirts lifting in the shuffle to show dainty ankles and a shadow of a slim, toned leg. “Oh,” the princess exclaimed, her elfin ears flicking back. “Oh, I’m so terribly sorry, whoever you are. You see, this darling creature stole my attention and guided me back here.”
Lotor’s split pupils lowered to the sight of the princess’s hands, which trembled as she moved to clasp her skirts.
“I am Princess Allura of Altea,” she babbled, moving to curtsey before him. Her thick, white curls slipped down her shoulder. “Please do not kill me, sir—my father would be very unhappy, as he would have to start a war, and really, no one wants a war anymore.”
The Emperor swallowed hard. He’d barely heard a word she had said, for his attention had swept to the princess’s bare shoulder and the glimmer of the gems in her hair. “I—” He cleared his throat, then straightened his spine. “I thought the planet Altea had not accepted my invitation at all.”
The princess stood up from her curtesy, eyes widening. “Your invitation?”
He tilted his head and swept out his clawed hand. “You are in my private study,” he said, his heart pounding. “And I am Emperor Lotor, the host of this ball.”
Allura’s slipped feet disappeared under her thick skirts, as did Kova, who continued to purr happily against her legs. Her chest heaved with fearful breath. “You’re Emperor Lotor? You?” She awkwardly began to backstep.
Most oddly, the more she stared at him, the more heated her cheeks grew, which Lotor could visibly see by the brightening glow of her Altean marks.
He could hear her heart pound in the same rhythm as his own.
And then he could sense it, even beneath her juniberry perfume.
Out of all the woman who’d come to the ball for his hand, it was the Princess Allura who found him attractive.
Lotor said to Allura, his velvet voice light and unassuming, “My apologies, princess. I did not mean to intimidate you. This is simply an odd spot to meet my most elusive neighbor from Altea.”
She flushed deeper, her marks a bright glimmer of pink. “Oh, I—I feel I’ve made a terrible bungle of things. I was supposed to—” she cleared her throat. “Well, I was quite hoping to represent my planet appropriately, and here I am chasing a pet.”
He smiled, his fangs glimmering in the low light of the study. “Kova is known to enchant all, but he rarely chooses to return the attention. That must make you special, Princess Allura.”
Her elfin ears—so sleek and delicate—flicked with the praise.
The heat off of her radiated to him, along with the maddeningly fast pound of her heart. His eyes began to dilate in response to her pheromones and the tension of the space between them.
Princess Allura swallowed hard visibly. “How, um, should I make up for this social faux paus, Emperor Lotor?”
Lotor hummed, then held out his hand. “I would request a dance with the Princess of Altea, if she is agreeable. And if she can untangle Kova from her skirts.”
The cat’s tail swished lazily from beneath the hem of Allura’s dress. He had lain over her slippered feet, purring loudly in contentment of her warmth and scent.
Allura made a noise, delicately lifting up her skirts to reveal the sleepy cat. “Am I allowed to dance with your owner, little one?”
Lotor’s eyes caught sight of the princess’s dainty ankles once more, along with the glimmering gems of her slippers. He had difficulty looking away.
The cat meowed in a pout before rising up, slinking away with a look at Lotor.
Lotor glanced back at him, quirking a brow.
The next thing he knew, the princess’s fingers gently grabbed for his own, and her scent enveloped him in a delightful haze.
“I do not know Galran dances,” she admitted quietly, raising her eyes to him. “But I am willing to learn if you do not mind to teach me, Emperor Lotor.”
He glanced back at her. The tension between them heightened.
“Perhaps,” he murmured, “you could teach me an Altean one in return.”
Her face lit up with a bright smile, her cheeks glowing once more.

Lotura Week 2023 Day 3 - Beach Day Bliss / What's the Weather
Sun and Water
Emperor Lotor of the Galra peeked out from behind the curtain of the changing room, cheeks visibly heated. “And you’re sure this is…socially acceptable clothing in human environments?”
Princess Allura leaned against the wall in her bright pink bikini and glittering sarong, admiring her own suit. “Oh, very.” She leaned in and added, “I think it’s freeing after so many years stuffed into thick clothes and armor. Don’t you?”
The alien man’s slit eyes narrowed, and his blush deepened. “The Galra do not…show themselves in this way. Typically.”
“Are you afraid to partake in opening swimming? How then do your people ever enjoy an ocean or a sea?”
“We have swimming suits,” he complained, “and do not trounce about half-naked.”
“But such dress doesn’t mean nakedness here,” Allura said as she placed a hand on her hip. “Come on, if I can do it, surely you can as well. I thought you said you like exploring new cultures, besides.”
He made a noise in the back of his throat, then disappeared behind the curtain again, mumbling under his breath. In time, he pulled it back to reveal himself in navy swim trunks and a white, open button-down shirt, carrying an orange and blue-striped beach towel under his arm. “I am doing this only because you have partaken in the wearing of the bikini.”
Allura’s cheeks heated upon glancing over his form. Lotor’s armor was fitted to his lithe body, but the sunlight streaming into the changing rooms shined bright over his scarred lavender skin and sleek, corded muscle. His long hair glowed about him.
“Oh,” she said, eyes wide. “On second thought, do hide, or else I shall have to fight for my claim when all others see how handsome you are.”
Lotor gave her a half-pleased and half-miserable look as he reshuffled his beach towel and awkwardly placed sunglasses atop his head—an action still new to him. “And you do not think I must anticipate the same for you?”
She beamed at him and held out her hand. “The humans are quite used to this state of dress and to me, but I do love your flattery. Come on, let us go together, then, and we shall make it quite clear that we are claimed by each other.”
He paused before he reached out and intertwined his long, calloused fingers with hers. “…Together,” he agreed.
The two alien royals stepped into the warm sand of the Earth. Lotor glanced down at the sensation upon his bare feet, curious of the pleasant softness of sand between his toes, and then he glanced back up at the crowds before him.
Human children laughed, chasing one another, while other couples walked hand-in-hand, with several adults sunbathing or chatting beneath large, blue umbrellas.
Lotor’s ear twitched. In the background was the gentle cresting of waves as they crashed against the beach. Among them, the Paladins of Voltron played a game with a multi-colored ball. With all the activity, and the several other aliens lounging about humans, the crowds paid no mind to either Lotor or Allura besides a friendly wave as they passed by.
And the Earth’s sun—it pleasantly heated his skin, so unlike the cold darkness of space.
In great curiosity, he inhaled the scent of the sun and the beach. It was an airy, salty scent that inspired a lightness in his heart. A sense of cosmic alignment.
Allura tugged on his arm and pulled him along to the edge of the waves. “You do know how to swim, yes?”
He followed her without complaint, glancing about all the activity. “Of course, but I do not swim or traverse a beach for pleasure as humans seem to do.” The waves crested against his ankles, streaming past to cover the sand, and the water cooled his warm skin. “I’ve always seen swimming as a survival skill only.”
Allura pouted in a cute way, tightening her grip on his hand. “It pains me that you’ve known no fun whatsoever for ten-thousand years.” Her fingers stroked against a harsh scar that ran along the side of his palm.
Lotor squeezed her hand back, careful of his claws. “But I am here now with you,” he said, voice rising with merriment. “Teach me all the ways of fun, for I am a quick learner and quite interested in the concept.”
That lit up Allura’s eyes. “Oh, there’s lots of ways to have fun at a beach. Perhaps we should start with simple fun, as I would hate to wear you out after the latest battle with rift creatures,” she said, pulling away. Her sarong glittered in the sun as she leaned over, grabbing onto one of the free sand chairs.
“I could do without rift creatures,” he agreed and moved to help her.
Soon, they sat side by side in the sand chairs, their towels tossed farther up the beach. Lotor reached out in pleasant awe as a wave crashed over his outstretched legs, the water splashing up his heated arm before it receded.
They still held hands between their chairs—a slack, comfortable grip.
“I see now why humans do not wear armor at the beach,” he said. “The water and sun are pleasant here.”
Her expression softened. “Isn’t it?” she agreed. “Back on Altea, our oceans contained giant Eravutes—large nightmare creatures that made their nests on the beach, and could be occasionally be tamed into pets. It always made for an interesting time but certainly not a relaxing one.” She sunk back into her chair, breathing deeply as she closed her eyes. “I could get used to this.”
Lotor made a noise of agreement, glancing down to peer curiously into the clear water. “As could I,” he murmured. “It seems that simply enjoying the atmosphere is a popular pastime at Earth beaches.”
“Oh, quite.” She peeked open one eye. “Do remind me to slather you with the sunscreen lotion sooner rather than later.”
His white eyebrow quirked. “You would encourage touching in such a way while we are underdressed in public?"
Her nose crinkled with laughter, even as her face heated up from a different energy than the sun. She pulled away to pile her white curls into a top bun before saying, voice prim, "It's about sun safety, above all."
Lotor leaned in. "Do I get to return the favor of the slathering of sunscreen?"
Allura tightened her bun and waggled her eyebrows. "Of course."

Lotura Week 2023 Day 4: Free Day
(1718) The Pirate Princess and the Water Demigod
A VLD AU drabble
It was said that in the late 17th century, humans bound a chaotic ocean goddess to a mortal form through dark magic. In the legends, kings and paupers, pirates and governors, had joined forces to defeat her, having discovered her secret name to use against her.
Lotor shut the book, his calloused hand sweeping across the soft leather front. “The legends are not quite correct,” he murmured, glancing up at his audience. He stood in the grand navy and silver coat of his father’s fleet, his white hair pulled back in a low ponytail. “The goddess tricked humanity with a false name and even later walked among them, delighting in the trinkets of the human world.”
His audience was a lone woman who sat within the captain’s chair of the great ship. She wore an ornate tailcoat jacket of blue and purple, her legs crossed to reveal sleek, thigh-high boots. She tapped a feather quill in her hand as she tilted her head, her curls cascading down her shoulder.
Her hair was white as well—a sign of being touched by the gods.
“But it was not she who saved me all those months ago,” she said, voice wavering. “I felt the ocean carry me to warmer waters, to this abandoned ship with which I could collect a remnant of my people.”
Survivors of the land-based invasions had scattered far and wide after their great king, Alfor, had fallen in the same targeted shipwreck that had left Princess Allura an orphan.
She stood up and continued, setting down her quill. “No, I’m certain it was not this old goddess. And in fact, the more I gaze upon your face, good sir, the more deeply unsettled I am.” She swallowed, a vulnerability breaking the determination that had hardened her face. “You came here to negotiate terms for the country that grew rich from plundering my father’s ships and lands, and which now complains when I take back what they stole. But I feel as though we’ve met before.”
Lotor held her gaze. “I promise you that we have, Captain Allura.” He cleared his throat, looking slightly wry. “But I had last called you princess, for that was your title as you drowned in your heavy skirts. You had worn pink—the color of mourning to your people—for you were on your way to marry a man you did not love, all in the name of expanding your father’s coffers for war.”
The silence between them thickened.
Captain Allura’s eyes brightened with fearful tears. She reached for the sword at her side on instinct. “You are not human to know such details.”
“Not entirely,” he said, tilting his head. He raised his chin, allowing his human visage to slip, holding out his palms. In doing so, his white hair lifted from his shoulders, as if swirling within water, and his blue eyes glowed with the burning light of godhood, as if his form struggled to contain him. His voice carried multiple tones—calming and rushing like the cresting of waves. “The great goddess of calamity is my mother, and it was I who reordered the ocean on that fateful day you were lost at seat.”
Her fingers trembled against the hilt of her sword. “You are a god yourself, then.”
“Demigod,” he said, voice dry, his lips tilting up with a crooked smile. “My father, the Pirate King who established the lands accosting your own, did manage to ensnare the goddess in his own way. And so part of her is yet truly tied to human form, through me.”
The princess’s breath hitched as she blinked rapidly. In that moment, she raised her sword, daring to level it at his throat.
Lotor did not move, neither afraid nor angered as his hair resettled. “Mortal weapons do not work on me,” he warned.
Her face screwed up as the sword’s sharp blade wavered. “You wear their colors. You say you are the son of the man who destroyed my life, and the son of the goddess whose storms battered our coasts and ruined our crops.” Her voice hitched up. “I’ve spent nearly a year attempting to regather the worth of simply my own dowry lost on that wreck.”
He leaned forward, pressing his cheek against the flat of the blade, eyes narrowed in worry. “You’ve spent the last year wreaking havoc, Captain Allura. You’ve grown cold in ways I did not expect—decimating naval fleets and pillaging villages. My mother thinks it all a delightful game, as is her way. In some regard, she even likes you as the fallen princess, but I come to you as an invested ally seeking peace.”
Allura pulled the sword away. “You have come to undo your work, no doubt. To kill me and be done with the ghost you allowed to live.”
“No,” he said, voice softening. “I should like you to live, Princess Allura. Or Captain Allura, or whatever you wish to be called nowadays.” He straightened his spine and raised his chin as he dug into his coat pocket. His long fingers pulled out a golden chain, with a large blue gem. “You had worn this necklace on the day your ship was attacked. It had snapped from your neck in your thrashing as you nearly drowned, and I watched it slip to the bottom of the ocean in interest of saving your life.”
Allura’s full lips dropped open as she stared at the necklace, which had been a gift from her mother and father. “How did you find it?”
Lotor offered the necklace to her. “I can retrieve for you all the riches you lost to the ocean, in exchange for peace against the coastal villages.” His expression carried a terrible humanity to it—a vulnerable edge of hope. “They’re simply fishermen and merchants and the children of pirates who had nearly starved on the seas, Princess Allura. Do not exact your grief upon them, for they are not the ones who killed your father or invaded your lands.”
She grabbed for the necklace, her form seeming to grow small as she brushed her fingers against the gemstone. Tears slipped from her eyes in awe at having the jewelry returned to her, pristine as if it had never been gone. “And you would so freely offer to help me, when I know your father’s edicts call for my death?”
Lotor leaned in as he walked around her, his voice a soft and steady murmur. “I can keep you safe from him and my mother, for as long as I search for your jewelry and inheritance across the ocean floor. But after that, princess, I may require compensation for my efforts.”
Her eyes flickered up and then narrowed in fear. “What sort of compensation? Take care, sir, I’m a Captain, not a strumpet.”
He managed a smile. “Oh, I very much know what you are, and that is why I like you. But there are certain…relics in in this world that decrease my power. Humanity still seeks to have full dominion over the ocean, and their wielding of magic grows more sophisticated. I need someone who can play both the demure princess and the wicked pirate captain, to obtain and destroy these relics.”
Allura’s ship, the Oriande, rocked under weaves, as if to jolt her into a decision.
Her lips trembled. “My father said never to make deals with gods.”
Lotor slicked his hair back and gave her a handsome smile—one that caused her heart to skip a beat. “Well, princess, I am only half, if you recall.” His glow dampened, and he stood before her as a man, save for his white hair that people assumed meant he’d only encountered the gods. “What say you? Your dowry for safety. And if you still desire to pillage and plunder with that dark heart of gold, then an ongoing partnership to protect each other from our respective dangers.”
Allura eyed him hesitantly. “And you would trust me to handle relics that disrupt your power as a demigod?”
“You have a heart blinded by pain,” he said, eyes narrowed with knowledge, “but you are still an honorable princess, and you dislike debts. A part of you has longed to know who saved you from drowning, so that you could repay them.”
She swallowed hard. “And…and given that you are born of a chaos goddess and the Pirate King, how do I know you are trustworthy? Or that I am not a pawn in some much larger scheme?”
Lotor brushed dust from his velvet sleeves. “I do have my visions for a more peaceful future. As a demigod born of the ocean goddess, it is our shared sacred duty to ferry souls lost at sea to the afterlife.” His expression broke. “And I tire of the death and the wrecks and all the pointless war. As I watched you struggle to swim in those heavy skirts of yours, I realized you were like me. Trapped.”
In the silence, he stepped closer to her. She did not flinch or move away.
“I will tell you my true name, in the language of the gods,” he murmured, “and with it, you may call upon me or even control me. I am willing to offer this to you as a sign of good faith, that one day you and I will explore the world of the living, free from all this madness.” His voice broke on the last word.
The fallen princess turned the gem of the necklace in her hands, her eyes watering with tears. “Did you ferry my father’s soul to the afterlife, then?”
“Yes, princess. He knows no pain and resides in bliss now, knowing that you are safe and alive.”
Her voice wavered. “And what is your true name? You introduced yourself as Prince Sincline.”
He glanced each way before leaning in. His lips nearly touched the sensitive edge of her ears as he whispered, “You may call me Lotor. Do use it when you need me.”
And between them, a raw power shifted, and she gasped, feeling hot and cold and unsteady and entirely in control all at once.
