HOW TO: Make Animated Neon Text
Hi! No one asked for this tutorial, but this is one of my favorite typography effects as of late — so I thought I'd share how I do it. You can see this effect in the first gif of this *NSYNC Celebrity set and the last gif of this Anthony Bridgerton set. Disclaimer: This tutorial assumes you have a basic understanding of gif-making in Photoshop. It's also exclusively in Timeline and uses keyframes for the fading effect seen on the blue text.
Tumblr media
PHASE 1: PREP YOUR BASE GIF
1.1 – Choose a dark scene. This effect looks best contrasted against a dark background. You can definitely do it with a bright background, but just like a neon sign irl, you only turn it on in the dark/at night — so keep that in mind!
1.2 – Determine the length of your clip. Depending on how much you want your text to flash or fade in, you'll want to make sure you have a scene long enough to also allow the text not to flash — reducing the strain it takes to actually read the text. For reference, my gif is 48 frames.
1.3 – Crop, color, etc. as you would. New to gif-making? Check out my basic tutorial here!
PHASE 2: FORMAT YOUR TEXT
Before we animate anything, get your text and any vectors laid out and formatted exactly as you want them!
2.1 – Finding neon sign fonts. It's easy as going to dafont.com and typing "neon" into the search bar!
2.2 – Fonts I used. Neon Glow by weknow | Neon by Fenotype | Neon Bines by Eknoji Studio
Tumblr media
And to not leave my fellow font hoarders hanging, the font for "tutorial by usergif" is Karla (it's a Google font) 🥰
2.3 – Group your text layers. (Conditional) If you plan on having multiple text layers like I did and you want them to appear connected (like how the last letters of "NEON" and "sign" intersect with the wand icon), I suggest putting the layers into groups according to color (the shortcut to group layers is Command+G). If you don't group your text and just apply the outer glow settings to each individual layer, you'll end up with something like this:
Tumblr media
—where you can see the glow overlap with the line, instead of the smooth connection you see in my final example gif. I'm using 2 colors for my text, so I made a group for red and a group for blue.
2.4 – Apply Outer Glow. Right-click your text layer (or your group if you have several layers) and select "Blending Options" to open the Layer Style menu. Check "Outer Glow" and feel free to play around with the settings until you like the way your text looks!
Your outer glow color should be darker and more vibrant than the color of the text itself. The text should be within the same color family but much brighter and, sometimes, almost white (see Step 2.2 again for my text colors).
Here are the settings for the Red Glow (the glow color is #FF3966) and Blue Glow (#00F0FF):
Tumblr media
These aren't always my exact settings but they're pretty close to my standard. I always set the blend mode to Hard Light and usually have the opacity at 100%.
For every gif I use this effect on, I like to play around with Spread and Size. Spread will make the glow look denser and "expand the boundaries" (source: Adobe) and Size will diffuse the glow and blow it out so it covers a larger area (Adobe says it "Specifies the radius and size of blur").
2.5 – Duplicate your text layer/groups and remove glow. We're only going to be animating the glow on our text, and since doing this affects its opacity/visibility, we want to preserve the base text by creating a duplicate.
I just hit the Command+J shortcut to duplicate my groups and delete the Outer Glow effects, making sure that the "No Glow" version is above the "Glow" version:
Tumblr media
I also put all these groups into one group called "Text" for organization and so I could apply a drop shadow to all the elements for better visibility.
PHASE 3: CREATE THE FLASHING EFFECT
This is for the effect you see on the RED text in my gif!
3.1 – The 0.03-Second Rule If you've read any of my animation tutorials before, you're probably already familiar with this rule. In my experience (and for reasons I can't explain), Video Timeline pauses every 0.03 seconds (try clicking the forward button a few times, you'll probably find a "duplicate" or paused frame). So, keep all your layers a duration of 0.03-second increments (e.g. 0.06 or 0.09 seconds can also work) and align them on the Timeline at 0.03-second intervals. If you don't follow this rule, you'll get duplicate frames when you export, resulting in a choppy final gif.
3.2 – Trim and arrange your text layers. Only on the layers/groups WITH the Outer Glow effect, trim them into several segments of varying lengths where the glow will be "on" (visible) and leaving spaces where the glow should be "off."
Typically, I'll have a mixture of 0.06 and 0.03-second text. That's when the glow will be visible. Between each "flash" of visibility, I've got a 0.03-second blank space, baby *pen clicks* and I'll write your name:
Tumblr media
The layers shown above are arranged with a few flashes and two long segments of no flashing. This is the order and duration of each segment shown above (purple = visible segments):
0.06 blank, 0.06 visible, 0.03 blank, 0.03 visible, 0.03 blank, 0.03 visible, 0.03 blank, 0.24 visible (the long bit where "FLASHING" doesn't flash at all), 0.03 blank, 0.03 visible, 0.03 blank, 0.12 visible
(I only did this for the text that says "FLASHING" to give it a glitching effect. The other red text keeps the glow visible starting at the first long segment.)
PHASE 4: CREATE THE FADE-IN EFFECT
This is for the effect you see on the BLUE text in my gif!
4.1 – Animate using the Opacity Keyframe. Again, we're only touching the layers/groups WITH the glow effect. If you only have one layer of text, you'll find the Opacity Keyframe by clicking the film reel icon:
Tumblr media
If you're working with groups like me, you'll find it in the Timeline panel under the group when it's expanded:
Tumblr media
As you can see, I already added my keyframes (lil diamond babies). And luckily, it's super easy to do!
4.2 – Add the ending Keyframe first. We're starting at the end because our layers/groups are already at 100% opacity. Drag the playhead (the blue arrow attached to the red vertical line) to a spot where you want the glow to be 100% opaque — this is where the glow will be fully "on" or visible. [Again, follow the 0.03-Second Rule. You will get duplicate frames regardless when using keyframes (this will be explained in the note in Phase 5), but abiding to the rule will mitigate the amount of dupes you get.]
Then, click the clock icon by "Opacity" to place a keyframe:
Tumblr media
4.3 – Add the starting Keyframe. Go backward from the ending Keyframe you just placed (I went back 0.12 seconds — but you can play around with the duration of the fade, just keep it a multiple of 0.03):
Tumblr media
And drop another keyframe, this time by clicking the diamond icon by "Opacity":
Tumblr media
4.4 – Reduce the opacity on the starting Keyframe. Keeping that keyframe you just placed selected, go to the layers panel and reduce your layer's/group's opacity to 0%:
Tumblr media
Now, this Outer Glow will slowly fade from 0% to 100% opacity.
And just for a visual aid, here's where my fade-in keyframes are in relation to my flashing segments:
Tumblr media
To refresh your mind, the 0% Opacity Keyframe starts when "FLASHING" is visible for 0.24 seconds (the first long segment of visibility).
With these keyframes, you'll get a smooth fade-in à la ✨light switch with a dimmer✨
PHASE 5: EXPORT
Yay, we're finished! Convert from Timeline back to Frames and export your gif!
Tumblr media
NOTE: If you only did the flashing effect and followed my 0.03-Second Rule, you shouldn't have any duplicate gifs. BUT if you included the fade-in effect using keyframes, you WILL have duplicate frames. 'Tis the nature of keyframes. 🤷‍♀️ I had 4 extra frames where the fade-in starts, which I deleted. So, as always, I recommend checking your frames when you convert from Video Timeline back to Frame Animation — and manually delete any duplicate frames.
Sorry this tutorial is so long 🙈 I over-explain so you're not just mechanically copying steps, but understanding the WHY behind each step! Thanks for bearing with me
If you have specific questions about this tutorial, feel free to send a message to usergif and I'll try my best to help! :)

Microtrends: The New Way to Stay Ahead Of The Fashion Curve
Tumblr media
Have you ever looked at what’s popular in fashion and thought, I wish I had known about that trend before it was so mainstream! If so, then you’re not alone. It’s hard to stay on top of all the trends because they come and go faster than ever before. But there’s an easy way to stay ahead of the curve—look out for micro trends instead of just macro trends. In this article, we’ll explore what micro trends are and how you can use them to your advantage in today’s fast-paced fashion market. Clothing, food, housing, and transportation are essential for people's life. Nowadays, with the increasingly high-level development of science and technology and the economy, people's pursuit of better is more and more obvious. They should not only wear warm clothes and eat enough, but also wear beautiful clothes, wear fashion, and dress to attract others' attention. If you are looking to create your clothing line, expand the swimwear market, or develop trendy swimwear for your swimwear brand, Welonswimwear is a good one among many swimwear manufacturers. You can learn more or realize more of your design ideas.
1.   Understanding Microtrends
In the fashion world, a microtrend is a very specific trend that gains popularity for a short period. Unlike regular trends, which can last for months or even years, microtrends usually only last for a few weeks or days. While they may not seem like much, microtrends can be very important for fashionistas who want to stay ahead of the curve. Understanding these smaller trends allows them to know what’s going on in the industry and what will come next. There are so many factors that go into predicting future trends but knowing about them before anyone else does is key to staying one step ahead of everyone else. For example, wearing jeans with a crop top was once considered by most people to be an inappropriate style choice. Fast forward two years and it's now common practice for girls as young as 16 years old to wear this combination at school without feeling ashamed. Knowing about microtrends ahead of time could have saved some people from having to experience this shift firsthand.
2.   Small Changes Add Up
In fashion, as in many other areas of life, change is the only constant. And these days, it seems like fashion trends are changing faster than ever. If you want to stay ahead of the curve, you need to start paying attention to micro trends. These changes may seem small, but when added together they can have a major impact on how people dress and what designers create.
There are three types of micro trends that you should know about if you want to keep up with the latest fashions.
How to Create a Personal Brand
Your brand is what makes you unique and different from everyone else. It's what sets you apart from the competition and helps you stand out in a crowd. Creating a personal brand takes time and effort, but it's worth it if you want to be successful in today's world. Here are five steps to help you get started:
1) Define who you are and what you want to be known for.
2) Do your research and find out what other people are saying about you.
3) Figure out how you want to express yourself through social media, which platforms work best for your niche, and when and how often you should post content.
4) Determine your message and write a bio that reflects that message so that people know what they're getting before they follow you on social media or see your business cards. If you have an Instagram account, make sure to have a professional-looking profile photo with some information about what you do and where you're located.
If there are any mistakes or typos in your profile, take care of them now because you don't want someone taking screenshots of those mistakes once you start getting more followers! Make sure everything is consistent across all channels--you'll look more professional and trustworthy this way.
Tumblr media
3.   Get Creative
With fashion trends changing so rapidly, it can be hard to keep up. That's where micro-trends come in. Micro trends are small, specific changes that can be easily incorporated into your wardrobe. By following micro-trends, you can stay ahead of the curve and keep your style fresh. Whether it is a new way to wear a shirt or a new pair of sunglasses, micro trends offer something for everyone. Here can some trend custom swimsuits, swimsuit fashion, high quality, can be customized according to your idea.
Read on for our top 10 favorites Micro Trends in Fashion!
1) Neon Colors In recent years, we've seen neon colors take over everything from sneakers to skirts. Even though they may seem overwhelming at first, they look great paired with more muted shades like navy blue or black.
2) Kneehigh Boots It doesn't matter if you're going for an edgy vibe or want to look classy and feminine-knee-high boots are a must-have this season. For example, try pairing them with flared jeans and a button-down blouse for a sophisticated daytime look.
3) Bow Ties For men, bow ties are the perfect accessory to any suit or formal outfit. And for women, they give any simple dress or skirt an elegant touch.
4) Turtlenecks Although turtlenecks were once reserved for winter attire only, designers are now adding them to their spring/summer collections too! They make a great addition to any outfit and can even be worn as separates.
 5) Heels with Sneakers We all know how difficult it is to walk around in heels all day long. So why not swap them out for sneaker wedges? They still give off the same polished appearance without sacrificing comfort.
6) Oversized Blazers are always flattering on everyone- but what happens when they get too big? To solve this problem, just size down! Oversized blazers are trendy because they make you appear taller and slimmer. But the best part about oversized blazers is that you can roll up the sleeves, roll up the pants, or belt them for different looks.
7) Ruffles A vintage trend that never seems to go out of style, ruffles will never disappoint. From dresses to tops, ruffles add femininity and charm to any ensemble.
8) Wide-Leg Pants Whether they're cropped or maxi length, wide-leg pants are the hottest thing this year! Pair them with a flowy tunic top for a bohemian feel or team them with booties and sweaters for everyday chicness.
9) Neon Faux Fur Coats Have you ever wanted to be a unicorn? Well, now you can with these bright and beautiful faux fur coats. Plus, they're the perfect way to stand out in a crowd.
10) Maxi Skirts If you thought maxi skirts went out of style with the '80s, think again! Not only are they stylish and practical, but they also show off your curves.
4.   Be in it for the Long Haul
Anyone in the fashion industry will tell you that trends come and go, but the one constant is change. To stay ahead of the curve, you need to be constantly on the lookout for new trends. This can be a full-time job, but it's worth it if you want to stay ahead of the competition.
5.   Stay Disruptive
Micro trends are the new way to stay ahead of the fashion curve. By definition, a micro trend is a small, specific trend that has a short shelf life. These days, it feels like fashion trends are changing faster than ever and it can be hard to keep up. That's where micro-trends come in. They give you just enough time to find your next obsession before they fade into obscurity. Take sneaker styles as an example. A few years ago, everyone was wearing Nike Air Force 1s. Today, the style you'll find on people's feet all over town is almost always Adidas Ultra Boosts. Microtrends give people more opportunities to get their hands on coveted pieces before they sell out or stop being trendy altogether - something we've seen happen with every single designer collaboration this year!

Someone said they wanted a Cricut tutorial, so here goes:
First of all, disclaimer, I do not really want to give Cricut money. This means I'm doing this with the least expensive tools I can find. Literally the only reason I went with Cricut instead of another brand is that Cricut sells the Cricut Joy, which is like $120, making it the cheapest computer cutter out there AFAIK.
One of the parts of the Cricut line that I don't have is a subscription to Cricut Access. Cricut Access is an online library of assets that are all digitized for the Cricut and are ready to use. I didn't get my Cricut to make baby onesies that say "Sorry I made big bad poopoo pants" on them or whatever the cricut wine moms make. I got a Cricut to put my own designs onto stuff.
So, if I'm doing a cricut tutorial, I'm going to start by showing how to make your own designs for the cricut. While this normally requires some kind of digital art software, which is going to get its own tutorial, here's a really fast technique that doesn't require that.
Part 1: draw thing.
Tumblr media
Part 2: Using some kind of dark marker to color in your design. You can get more detailed than this. However, make sure that you're keeping in mind that these shapes need to be cut out. You can only get so detailed with this before the machine can't figure out what to do.
Tumblr media
Part 3: take advantage of your portable, pocket-sized* image editor. Your phone usually has some kind of image adjusting options. You need the black outline to be as dark as possible, and the white to be as light as possible. First, crop the image so that it is as small as it can possibly be without cutting your design. Then, I started by putting a stark black-and-white filter on it, and then adjusted the sliders until that dark part on the bottom-right corner was gone.
____ *okay, depending on your pockets. I have some pants that won't even fit an iphone 4 or a motorolla razr
Tumblr media
I've never used the Design Space mobile app, so I just emailed the picture to myself and uploaded it into the desktop version. After repeatedly declining Cricut's offer of a free month of Circut Access and just $9.99 a month after that, we're ready to upload the image.
When the software asks you what kind of image, you hit "simple." Full honesty, I feel like any image that makes you hit anything other than simple probably needs to be reworked on my end before trying to make Design Space understand that.
Tumblr media
After you've uploaded it, and declined the offer of a free month of Cricut Access and just $9.99 a month after that, you'll get access to these tools.
If your image is good, you can start by just clicking the magic wand tool into the white areas of your design. This will erase them and make them transparent.
Note: with the way this process works, you don't actually need to fill in the whole of the dark areas, as long as you outline them dark enough and have no gaps. I did it anyway for this design, to make it easier to see the process. However, if you have a more detailed design, you can get sharper lines by just using a 1.0 sized multiliner and leaving your fill-ins blank.
I also went in with the eraser to make sure that the gaps between my pieces were large enough to stop the pieces from touching.
Then, you upload it as a cut-type image, and it'll open in the canvas.
Tumblr media
Since we're using the Circut Joy here, I went into the size box in the top right and set the smaller of the two dimensions down to 4.5. 4.5" is the maximum width that the Joy can cut, so this will make the piece cut as large as possible.
Since the Joy can also cut 24" long, you could combine a lot of little designs on the Design Space canvas and make a file for a border print. However, it's probably a better idea to learn the basics of an image editing software and do the combining there; Design Space likes to crash on me if I load too many images into one cut.
Tumblr media
Then you just cut it out and stick it on something.
Final notes:
1) This is a really great technique if you know calligraphy, which I do not.
2) Because your lines are not as smooth as a computer-generated one, the blade is going to jitter when it cuts. This is normal and won't her the basic cutting blade. It might really annoy the knife/rotary blade, but I don't know for sure, because I don't have a Maker.
3) A brayer is a useful tool for sticking transfer tape onto your cut vinyl, and for sticking your vinyl onto things. If your local craft store is a Joann, be aware of this:
Tumblr media
Cricut products are ineligible for coupons, even when they are no on sale. Mod Podge products have no such restrictions. If your store doesn't have the Mod Podge on in the glue aisle, you can check the scrapbooking section next to all the embossing powder and Zim Holtz stuff.
4) You can totally reuse transfer tape if you're careful.
5) it's pronounced "cricket". If you want to say it wrong, that's your right, but if you're going to rudely "correct" a craft store employee who got trained by the company, and you're wrong, be aware that you WILL be mercilessly mocked by that employee and several of their coworkers in the break room. If you want to be wrong, please be polite.
Okay, so that's your easy shortcut way to digitize without having to learn any software. Stick around for other ways to digitize your stuff, and that tutorial about making border prints with it.

After thinking it over for a bit, I've decided that I might as well do a proper underrated 3DS game rec list. I'm a bit of an ATLUS junkie and that's gonna be pretty disgustingly apparent in this list, but it's not my fault that they released hit after hit and all of them were duly ignored.
Due to tumblr's 10 image limit (and my struggle to keep motivated to do one thing for more than three hours) I'm definitely gonna have to break this up into parts and I'm fairly certain one of these lists is just gonna be MegaTen games lmao but I'd like to let people know about these excellent titles and see if I can't at least get people interested in them so they can get more traction.
So, without further ado:
Some 3DS Games that were criminally slept on (part 1)
Monster Hunter Stories
Tumblr media
God, where do I begin with this game. Well, the basics: It's a JRPG spinoff title of the now widely successful and popular Monster Hunter series featuring a different take on interacting with the varied and intricate monsters populating the world: Riders.
Yep, instead of hunting the beasties, you play as a young rider who's completed their intiation ritual and can now bond with 'Monsties' as they've cutely labelled the usually ferocious monsters of the wilds. The great thing is that you still fight Monsters--tons of them in fact but this isn't a paid review and in my humble opinion, the most impressive thing about this game is the visual style. The landscapes, the armour, the way they redesigned and 3DS-ified the classically hyper realistic and monstrous beasts to not only be absolutely adorable but still capable of being intimidating when the time calls for it, the stellar animation of special moves and combination attacks--it's delicious, nutritious, stupendous, I can and will consume it like it's part of my recommended caloric intake.
It's very akin to Pokemon in the way its basic gameplay premise is set up, however, instead of catching--or even indeed befriending--the Monsties in the game, you rummage through their nests and steal their eggs, later hatching them and getting yourself a brand new lightly kidnapped monster pal!
Other general things about the game:
Pros:
The armour and weapon sets for both male and female characters slap along with the general character customisation options. They're incredibly diverse (though limited in body type) and you can switch around traits and features whenever you want from your house.
The POGS--these porkers are everywhere and they serve as tiny little achievements for exploring every odd and end of the world. Also they have little outfits. They're so cute. 🥺🥺
You can actually ride the Monsties. All of em. Or, at least the ones that you have available to be your buddies. They all have exploration skills and traits that not only make exploring much more interesting but encourage you to swap out your active Monstie and play around with your options a bit.
Y'all breeding Monsties is complicated and I live for just how intense and ridiculous you can get with optimal builds for these things.
The story is really competently put together! The characters, character designs and even the internal conflict with your starting trio of characters is really compelling along with the mystery of the blight that's infecting Monsters across the world. It's not anything worth awards but it's compelling and it makes you care about the characters if that's what you're in the market for.
Amazing sound design, expansive world, everything about the presentation of this game oozes that Monster Hunter charm even if the art is cutesier than usual. You'll never get bored of its stellar visual presentation!
Available for around twenty quid on the Google Play store, so if you want, you could actually get the full game on your smartphone or tablet. Note though that it would be a battery nuker.
Cons:
If you're on a regular 3DS, frame rate drops are a given. This game kinda pushes the visual capabilities of the 3DS to its absolute limit--a lot like Okamiden did back on the DS.
One save file :( It's pretty much for the same reason as above but still.
If you're playing as the girl, you can't get male armour and vice versa. Since there's only one save file, you'll never be able to have all of the armour sets in a single playthrough and that's criminal because both of the sets for the genders are absolutely breath-taking, thank you.
I 👏can't 👏make👏my👏 own 👏Palico👏
Multi-player for this game is pretty dead seeing as it's almost five years old by now and never got much press or traction. Usually this wouldn't be an issue - this game is 99% singleplayer and you don't really need to fuss about with multi-player to have fun, but if you want to collect all the Monsties, you'll need it since the only way to get Glavenus is through pvp achievements. :/
Final thoughts: Play it if you find yourself getting tired or disappointed with 3DS Pokemon games but still want something that feels as fantastical as Pokemon. It outshines the 3DS Pokemon games at every turn and I will never be over just how thoughtfully put together and fully realised these games are. Of course, if you've ever played Monster Hunter, then you know just how intensive these games are with the lore, biology, cultures and world of their Monsters but seeing that translated into JRPG format was just very sobering and it's a game that, to this day, continues to awe me with just how much love and attention went into it.
Last note: If you're still unsure about it, there's a demo available on the e-shop of the 3DS that allows you to play through the entire initial area of the game. Your data does carry through to the full release and to give you an idea of how much I've been able to squeeze out of it - my playtime for that demo is currently sitting at 22 hours. Make sure to get a hold of that Cyan-Kut-Ku!

7th Dragon III Code: VFD
Tumblr media
The title may sound intimidating but the premise is not! A mysterious disease called Dragon Sickness spread by the Dragonsbane flowers that have cropped up all around the world. You and your team are recruited by the Nodens game company after you display extraordinary prowess in their hit virtual reality game 7th Encount. As you go through the adventure, you are tasked with finding out the truth behind the Dragon Sickness and asked to stop both it and the Dragons that are destroying the world.
This game is fun. It's another turn-based JRPG however, in this game you create all of your characters yourself from the myriad of classes available to you from the jump. Different classes of course have very different specialisations - Samurai focus on high powered cutting damage with their swords, Duelists are summoners who can influence the element of the battlefield as well as summon monsters from each element, Agents can hack into your enemies and inflict a barrage of nasty ailments, just to name a few - and you are given three teams of three characters each to experiment with different team comps and find the balance that works for you. There's also a wide variety of Dragons to hunt and kill in the game, which directly affects how infected your world is with the Dragon Sickness causing Dragonsbane. Along the way you will also come into contact with many interesting characters, concepts and confrontations that will make the task of saving the world all the more imperative.
Pros
1. The character creator and differing classes give way for tons of experimenting and playing around with your own unique approach to combat and carrying out your missions. Granted, 'character creation' is generous, it's little more than palatte swaps but the classes are really where VFD shines. Eight main classes may not sound like a lot, but the expaniveness of the character skills, their synergy with their fellow classes and the uniqueness of some of the classes in and of itself allows for so much flexibility and creativity in approaches to even tougher bosses. It also encourages the switching about of your party members to really finagle with the options available to you.
2. God this game is pretty. The locations, the character art, the creature design - all of it is gorgeous and this game capitalises on every bit of the 3DS's presentation limitations as it can.
3. You can romance anything and everyone - yes, you can even be gay/lesbian/poly in this game. In fact, one of the main characters - Julietta - is gnc and he's a constant source of joy as well one of my personal favourite characters, right behind Yuma.
4. Exploration is very very forgiving as the game has healing spots and teleport nodes all over the world to allow for quick, seamless travel between quest points without feeling like anything is too much of a hassle. There are also special enemies that allow for quick grinding as well as quick farming of money. In general, the game does a really good job of making sure that the grind is never unbearable or inconsiderate of your time.
Cons:
1. This is the fourth game in a series the West has never seen any other title for, and from the looks of it, will probably never see any other titles for. Because of that, there are some elements that may seem confusing or revelations in the plot that may seem to come out of nowhere.
2. While the visuals are great, the OST of this one is pretty short making for a lot of reused soundtracks that can get really annoying if you're like me and need your audio to be interesting or consistent so it doesn't distract you too much.
3. This one isn't really a con but it is divisive: This game gets pretty difficult at times. A few of the main dragon enemies including and especially the final boss can give you a serious run for your money in the annoy-o-meter in terms of the kind of absolute JRPG fuckery they can pull out of their magic bag of bullshit movesets and while I generally enjoy that kind of thing, I know it's not for everyone. Most regular combat shouldn't be too tricky once you have a team comp that works well together but you also need to pay attention since the same team that carries you to victory one time might be worth beans against another dragon.
Final thoughts: This is... a really good game. Interesting story, really interesting characters, pretty world and a battle system that really makes you sit down and think. There's also a demo for this available in the e-shop and while your data doesn't carry over - you do receive multiple perks for carrying over your demo data including some exclusive items that, while not game breaking, do help a ton in the early stages of the game.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This isn't a final list by any stretch of the word; I only have the energy to do these two right now, but the next games up for coverage are Ever Oasis and Stella Glow! If you're interested in my full plan of games I want to cover here then my current lineup includes: Theatrhythm: Curtain Call, Project Mirai: Deluxe, Culdecept Revolt, Alliance Alive, Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology, Etrian Odyssey V, Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker and Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse.
Finally, if anyone has played any of the games I mention, cover or plan to cover PLEASE REACH OUT TO ME, I AM SO LONELY IN MY FORTRESS OF SAND. On a serious note, I'd love to hear what other people who've played these games think!

ok @the-defiant-pupil i'm just gonna go ahead and make a new post bc this is about to get too long for my adhd ass
(context: continuation of this post)
1. funny thing is, i've actually read most of your sources already. they get really, really boring after awhile though, bc all of them start to say the same thing: yes there are differences, but there are also similarities, and scientists have yet to figure out the significance of this.
i'm not gonna go through each and every one of your sources, and i shouldn't be expected to either. when it comes to biological research, find the most recent articles with the most solid evidence/conclusions and call it good. don't dredge up an entire archive. i could find you sources that only characterize lichens as 2 symbiotic organisms rather than 3, but that wouldn't be correct bc the most recent research says otherwise. so yeah, just bc you CAN find that much info out there doesn't mean all of it is viable and should be used.
also, you can't just list a bunch of sources and expect it to be enough. you should contextualize them, explain them, tell your audience why each one matters. if you're really going to have that many, then be prepared to give a short annotation for each one bc i can guarantee you no one has enough time on their hands (or in my case, attention span) to read that many sources
your "plain as day" source by the way?? says this as well:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is what i was talking about earlier!! do you actually read, contextualize, and analyze what you read? or do you just find the first line you agree with and run with it?
bc what i got from reading that article is that even after years of research and the largest study to date, scientists STILL don't fully understand what they're looking at, and they might never. so we, as people Not Actively Researching This Subject should be incredibly hesitant to draw our own conclusions when even the researchers can't do so.
i also like that the author mentions how socialization can affect brain structure and development — did you know that domestication causes visible differences in gene structure between the ancestor and current-day species? bc of selective breeding, humans changed the genetics of dogs, cows, crops, etc.; genetics changed bc of domestication, domestication didn't come about bc of a change in genetics. and i KNOW that you're going to tell me this has nothing to do w what we're talking about, but it does hold a similar concept: it's not just genetics and bodily functions that affect behavior, the environment has an equally important role.
similarly, gene expression in almost every species is highly regulated by the environment just as equally as it is the body (and for clarification: environment means anything external, body means anything internal). as are hormonal responses, reflexes, emotions, etc. all of which can have subtle but lasting impacts on the body! i don't actually think that anti-transmeds are trying to deny science when we say that how your brain developed is not the only thing that affects gender identity! i think it's kinda actually the opposite!
2. i've haven't heard of this tumblr biologist, so please direct me to their publications, i'd actually really love to read them
3. science literacy is a whole other beast than literacy in general. like, yes, you have to be able to read, but suddenly specific word choice and HOW you read articles becomes important. it goes from reading chronologically (english literacy) to reading section by section and contextualizing what you've read in previous sections and articles so that by the end you understand the initial hypothesis, if the evidence ACTUALLY proved it, if their methods were sound, and why it matters in the particular field.
i'm not trying to say that people who aren't studying science can't read peer-reviewed articles and understand them, but you do have to realize that it's a completely new skillset you have to practice over and over again, not just something you can pick up on the fly
4. i think you completely missed my point about the anti-vaxxer movement. the reason it started was bc McBastard Wakefield published his article and before any other research could be done to refute it or back it up, the greater population picked it up and ran with it. 7 or so years since it's been debunked and he lost his medical license, but people still believe him bc he got published, and to some of the most accredited journals at that.
my point was that just bc the research exists doesn't mean we should accept it at face value until the medical/scientific community can undeniably say "this is what this is, and what it means." and they're STILL doing further research, which means that hasn't happened yet. bc the whole point of science, and by extension research, is to never be satisfied w your results, and instead continue to look for more than you can currently see. or at least that's what i've been taught.
bc to look at published articles and assume that they MUST be true bc it's PUBLISHED SCIENCE is...exactly what the anti-vaxxer movement began on. and i'd rather not repeat that.
(please show me, by the way, how """tucutes""" 1. actually exist and 2. harm anyone by simply living their own damn lives)
5. yeah """""tucutes""""" don't have any science bc uh.....there really is none. science is a process, and we're currently in the research phase which means NO ONE should be using it as proof. it's good to say "hey this exists" but to completely invalidate someone's existence based on studies that scientists are still trying to understand? that's called abusing and misconstruing results
6. i'm guessing you don't actually care, but sure. i'll explain mating types of fungi to you.
in short: genetic diversity is advantageous for survival, and fungi are nothing if not crafty little bastards, thus 1000s of mating pairs for better chances of sexual compatibility
in long: each mating type is determined by a set of genes. really, you can think of mating types as extended alleles, since each distinct allele has a distinct mating type.
so as for 5 different mating types and how they're different...there you go. that'd be like asking me to tell you 5 different alleles of the same gene and how they're different. the only difference is in sequence and then how they're expressed due to differences in sequence.
usually we don't categorize every single mating type since that'd be a bit...much.
however, we can and do categorize fungi by how they reproduce! i.e., what kind of syntamy do they display? can they go through diploid selfing? can they inbreed or only out cross? what's their primary stage of life: diploid or haploid? do they rely on sexual reproduction or asexual reproduction? if it's an ascomycete, do they form pericarps or ascocarps?
in fact, one of the main differentiators between fungi is their life cycle, most of which is geared towards reproduction. that's why although basidiomycetes and ascomycetes are the only fungi that can form macro fruiting bodies (as well as many, many other similarities), they'll always be categorized differently.
but i digress. the reason i compared fungal mating types to brain morphology and "sex" categorization is bc i was making an analogy. i'm not a neurologist, as you can probably tell at this point, but that doesn't mean i haven't taken any classes that covered the brain pretty extensively.
what i was really trying to say was this: everything that i've read so far says that although there's definitely some differences between brains, there's also a significant amount of overlap, so much so that when you try to categorize the brain into two distinct types, you're still going to have an incredible amount of variety.
likewise, you could, theoretically, do the same to fungi. you could sequence the genes from each mating type, determine the different SNPs, and categorize them into two distinct groups based on what SNPs they do/don't have. it wouldn't make sense to do so, though, bc there'd still be too much variety within each group.
this was just me trying to relate it to what i personally study but tbh i can see how that would've been confusing, so i apologize for that

Why is it a wise move to switch to LED plant growth lights
Deciding which grow light to use in your indoor garden is a major decision that will not only affect your potential harvest, but also the overall operating setup. There are two main types of indoor plant lights to choose from, high-pressure sodium (HPS) or light-emitting diode LED plant growth lights. The ongoing debate between the two very different lighting options is fierce, and experts are weighing them. As LED lighting companies continue to improve and improve their products, the tide is developing in a direction that is beneficial to them.
Tumblr media
Why does it make more sense for indoor growers to switch to LED grow lights than ever before? The initial cost of LED grow lights has dropped significantly, the technology has been improved to make better use of light science, and manufacturers have also realized the energy-saving potential of LED grow lights.
Many indoor gardeners are cautious about the choice of LED grow lights because they have experienced old, outdated versions that were released long before many current innovations appeared. Today, even long-term growers have decided to switch from the HPS setting to the more technologically advanced LED grow light option; the arguments in favor of the LED grow light are becoming more and more convincing.
Electricity bill
Considering the scale of some indoor facilities in the ever-expanding indoor gardening market, electricity bills can easily become one of the highest expenditures. In a recent study, the statistics provided by the researchers showed that lighting consumes an average of 38% of the total energy use. This is what makes it the largest part of the company's energy costs.
Although LED grow lights have indeed experienced price declines in the past few years, their up-front costs are still considerable compared to traditional HPS systems. According to the research cited above, most LED plant growth lamps will recover their costs through energy saving alone within two to four years.
There is relatively little fair or well-implemented research on the full cost-saving potential of switching to LED plant growth lights. Do you include the cost savings from reducing the burden of ventilation and humidity? What should I do if the burden on the air conditioner is reduced? There are significant differences between the brands of LED grow lights. How do you compare these differences? Some growers try to perform mathematical calculations and estimate that within a year, after switching to LED plant growth lights, they can save 50% to 60% of energy costs.
Efficiency
The heat emitted by the lighting is one of the indicators of its efficiency. Based on the overall performance, about 80% of the energy of HPS and CFL is released in the form of heat, while LED plant lights only release 15% to 25% of their energy in the form of heat. Since LED grow lights use most of their energy to generate light, it is easier to avoid excessive heat that may be harmful to crops.
HPS and LED grow lights
Life span
If you are planning a long-term planting operation, the lifespan of a particular LED plant grow light is as important as its efficiency and upfront cost. HPS lasts about 10,000 hours on average, while led grow lights will run for about 50,000 hours. They need to be replaced every 2 years or less. The lifespan of LED grow lights is much longer than the above options because they can work for 50,000 or even 100,000 hours. Therefore, you can use them for 5 or 10 years before you need to replace them.
Increase room temperature
The surface temperature of HPS bulbs can reach 750 degrees. If you do not use expensive equipment for proper control, it may cause many problems, including short plants, sparse flowers, and rapid drying of the medium, resulting in loss of root quality, nutrient deficiency or toxicity, and even The whole crop failed. The LED grow lights run cool, in fact, no additional temperature control equipment is needed except for the internal circulation fan. Lower light temperature will result in a more maintainable growth environment in which your plants can thrive. A lower temperature can also save water and expensive nutrients that evaporate in a high-temperature room. Colder root zones will produce larger, healthier root balls, which will ultimately lead to higher yields. Lower temperatures will not harm the oil production of plants, and the high temperatures generated by HPS lighting can degrade oils, sometimes completely peeling them from the tops of fruits and flowers. Keeping the plant's natural flowering oil intact will result in better tasting and smelling of fruits and flowers.
Improvements in light science
Another main reason why LED grow lights have begun to occupy the market is that their quality has been greatly improved since the early days. HPS's argument has always been that the light intensity emitted by HPS is much higher than that of LED plant growth lights, so growers believe that the potential for yield is greater.
Although this is true for the old LED plant lights, there is a huge difference between today's high-quality LEDs and past LEDs. The innovation of LED technology does not pay too much attention to intensity (although this has been improved), but to the spectrum required at each stage of the plant's growth cycle.
HPS produces higher lumen output than most affordable LED models, but this situation is changing rapidly. The same is true for our understanding of which types of light plants need which types in their growth cycle. High-pressure sodium lamps emit orange, yellow, and red spectra, but scientists recently discovered that plants need more blue, red, and UVA in the two most important stages: nutrition and flowering. This research has been incorporated into new LED lighting models that specifically focus on the spectrum required for indoor gardening.
Problems to avoid when using LED grow lights
Many people around the world grow cannabis at home, whether for recreational or medical purposes. Although some of them do a good job and produce good products, for others, the effect is not very good. We will provide you with the most common precautions when using LED plant grow lights, so that you can grow healthy plants and avoid any unnecessary troubles. This information is very relevant for beginners.
1. Overheating
If the leaves closest to the light start to turn yellow, you know that the plant has absorbed too much heat. If some leaves start to curl, it may also indicate that the plant is too close to the light. Good ventilation usually helps to solve this problem. Experienced growers will install electric fans in the planting tents to help the plants dissipate faster.
2. Insufficient lighting
Planting areas of different sizes need to choose LED plant growth lights with different powers. Think about how many plants you have planted and how many LED plant growth lights you need for normal lighting. You should also know the brightness of the lamp you are using.
3. The distance between the lamp and the plant is wrong
Excessive or insufficient light may be due to the light being too close or too far away from the plant. There is no optimal standard for setting distance, but it is recommended to place the LED plant growth light at a distance of 12 to 18 inches from the plant, and adjust the appropriate distance according to the growth speed of the plant. It is also very important to turn the pots from time to time to prevent uneven light. Cause the plants to tilt too much.
4. Choose inferior products
Light is the most important factor in plant growth because it triggers the process of photosynthesis. If you use an ordinary incandescent lamp, you are unlikely to grow strong, healthy plants. Therefore, in order to get the best results, we recommend using full-spectrum LED plant growth lights. They are specially designed for this purpose and can provide lighting in the precise spectral range required by the factory.
5. Choose the wrong spectrum
In order to grow effectively, plants need different types of light at each growth stage. This is very easy to achieve with full-spectrum LED plant growth lights, but if you choose the wrong settings, the plant will not develop well. You should also consider the conditions of the room you are growing up in. When the plant is in the vegetative growth stage, the plant can benefit most from the blue spectrum. This means that if you set the light to emit light in the red spectrum, it will only hinder the growth of plants.
6. Improper use of lighting
You may forget to turn on these plant lights because you are too busy. Or forget to turn them off, which sounds trivial, but the wrong arrangement is likely to adversely affect the growth of plants. Cannabis requires about 18-24 hours of light during the vegetative phase and 12 hours of light during the flowering phase.
7. Don't protect and maintain LED lights
LED grow lights are your friend and important investment, so you need to store them in a safe place. They bring many benefits to the continuous development process, and a little maintenance and preparation can save you a lot of trouble.
8. Other factors
In fact, growing cannabis indoors saves us a lot of trouble, but in the process of plant growth, we still need to consider many factors such as room temperature, air circulation, soil, nutrients, plant genetics and so on. Be patient and caring for plants, and plants will give us unexpected rewards.
As LED plant growth light technology is developing in an increasingly intelligent way, the arguments in favor of HPS are rapidly dissolving. In addition to the brief argument presented here, there are other reasons for indoor growers to switch. Energy-saving lighting technology eliminates the heavy burden of heating and dehumidification systems, while LED plant growth lamps are usually integrated lamps, making their installation and management techniques easier. Experts predict that LED grow lights will soon be used in all most indoor planting operations.

4 Potential Home Plumbing Problems One of the simplest varieties of home electrical repair is resetting a tripped circuit breaker. Believe it or not, knowing how to get this done single thing will help you solve the majority of all home electrical problems. That way, in lieu of calling an electrician out for any costly service call, you can start the troubleshooting process yourself. If you are able to correct the situation with this simple repair, that's great. If not, you already know you've done your better, however it is time to on-site visit the electrician.
Tumblr media
Depending on the size your house, your electrical system is probably more simple compared to a sizable industrial building or business. That will not, however, mean that it really is any less important. We depend upon functioning electricity every single day, making it paramount that everything operates safely and efficiently. If you have a concern which has a component, step one would be to check your breaker panel. Believe it or not, flipped breakers take into account virtually all all residential electrical problems. When you find yourself without power, start by making sure that none of your respective breakers have tripped. If this will not enable you to solve the issue, then it is probably time for you to call your electrician. Improperly maintained and repaired electrical wiring can result in electrical shocks and fire. As such, it is important to will have them serviced by way of a professional. An apprenticeship may take at the very least couple of years. Working as an apprentice can also be an element of educational training, in the event you enroll in to a course related to electrical engineering. It usually starts by you start with the easiest tasks, like drilling holes and then at a later date go on to connecting wires and drawing plans. After the apprenticeship, many electricians choose to undertake more classes to explore being employed as an electrician and gain in recognition. For instance, they might find out about telephone lines, computer line, and other types of special wiring. Experience is the better teacher and so, you have to see to it that you just hire a professional builder. This is because greater a house builder erects smartly designed and quality houses, the greater they see the dos and don'ts of house construction. Experienced builders are less likely to commit some of the common building and construction flaws that some workers do.

Another thing that a farmer does, is he pulls the weeds from around his plants so that they don't prohibit the growth of the crop. For a farmer, the weeds are unwanted growth that may hinder the development process. I ask you, what unwanted growth is found inside your business? Are you taking inventory with the mindset as well as the things it mat be individuals who are hindering the expansion of the business? What do you'll want to remove? Who do you'll want to remove? What areas of your respective life need improvement so that you along with your business can grow?
