"Elements of an effective language instructor."
Hey I'm Adriane alore M. Atraje your language student.
Tumblr media
Being a language teacher: Me vs myself ( knowing your self and fight with your fear)
In the midst of my journey, in becoming a language teacher I faced so many challenges that made it hard for me to bear it. One of those was having a stage fright I often gets stutter and I don't know, what I'm going to say cause I'm anxious. I'm afraid of losing myself in front of people , when speaking, maybe it's about how people view the world? Or it is just because the reality slap us that nothing in this world can actually make us proud and be confident about. But eventually I met someone, some people , in some situation but in so many ways. They help me to be better, I joined publications which I had been an opinion editor for a 1 term. With that opportunity I slowly learned to speak and to have enough confidence to fight with my fear, that fear is just a mere presence of one's mind. Fear reminded me to fight with it. and look at me now I couldn't say that I'm totally the person that I've dream of, but all I can say is I did it!
And I will continue fostering what I've started.
Tumblr media
My Rules and responsibilities as your future language educator:
First and foremost, having mastery of what I'm going teach is one of those crucial part of being a language teacher, cause before sharing my knowledge. I should have studied it well and ready to what will be the possible respond and queries of my students. In addition I will make sure that when I'm teaching you, Your gonna have ur time to be attentive and I will boost ur interest before the start of the lesson, I will make u attentive and attracted to my class. In a result you'll be eager to be in my class to learn a lot from me. And I'll make sure that inside my class, you'll have the environment that is conducive and will also foster positivity and productivity.
Furtheremore, being a language instructor u expect me to be proficient to the use of grammar, pronunciation and how I actually articulate words can make u think twice. I will also teach u and give u the best of my power and attitude to help u guide u to your journey. I will also employ as a language teacher on how to modify and become innovative when it comes in teaching. Cause there's a lot of discrepancy in terms of behavior and level of understanding of students so I must be careful and self regulated in terms of teaching methods and approach.

Communication mishaps:
Assumptions and Misinterpretations:
One prevalent source of communication mishaps lies in assumptions and misinterpretations. People often assume others share their perspectives or understand their unspoken expectations. This can lead to misunderstandings, as demonstrated in the scenario of Sarah and Jake, where unexpressed expectations resulted in a breakdown in collaboration.
For example I'll give u a scenario
Sarah and Jake, co-workers collaborating on a project, face a communication mishap. Sarah, expecting regular updates, feels excluded when Jake becomes absorbed in the task. Unaware of Sarah's expectations, Jake assumes autonomy. Tensions rise until a team meeting unveils the miscommunication. Clear expectations are set, fostering better collaboration and understanding between them.
Communication mishaps can always lead to misunderstanding and chaos so, we are suppose to lead it right. And as a language teacher we must first, understand the concept of comprehension, One cannot understand u if u don't consider their thoughts first, also Thier opinion, in order for the communication to be effective one must understand the other in order for the energy comprehension and reciprocation takes place.
Tumblr media
My journey through unveiling and fostering my communication competency.
At first, I felt like I'm on the dark trying to see the light. Cause no one can actually help me that time, they usually approaching me to say, ohh that's okay you may do it again next time. But that's not actually helpful for me until there was this one person who came in me to say that I have potential the way I articulate words made her see that I'm a moving potential. Suddenly she spoke and told me that why not I try to enter publication and why I shouldn't try being on it. And with the help of her, I had finally became a part of publication in neust throughout my journey as a opinion editor, it was so fascinating to do the job, cause everyday that I have a task, it correlates a learning that made me more well verse in terms of writing. And among those macro skills that I need to enhance , speaking is one of those hard stuff that I encounter so I hope soon I will be a fluent and accurate language teacher. For my goal is to teach in most simplest way possible cause there's a lot of student who can catch up easily so what I can do is to have empathy and make those teaching method of mine be more easy for them to grasp. And until they make the most of it and boom bring them closer and help them foster Thier critical thinking and comprehension.

Importance of balancing Traditional versus Modern Language Teaching Materials: Giving to the new generation the experience they deserve.
Traditional language teaching materials often focus on textbooks and rote memorization, while modern approaches leverage technology, real-world context, and interactive resources. Balancing both can provide a comprehensive learning experience for the new generation, blending the richness of established methods with the innovation of contemporary tools.
Furthermore, finding the right balance between traditional and modern language teaching materials is essential for providing a well-rounded learning experience to the new generation. Traditional methods offer stability and structure, grounding learners in fundamentals, while modern resources bring innovation and real-world context, making the process more engaging and applicable. This equilibrium ensures a dynamic and effective educational journey that meets the diverse needs of today's learners, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for language.
Before I end this, I would like to give you, A remarkable word of mine.
"In the realm of words, where knowledge takes flight.
A good language teacher makes understanding ignite."

What is love, Hae-in?
I was waiting for all episodes to be released for this particular post, but Hae-in's homework was a gateway for me to talk about it. The different forms of love portrayed in Racket Boys.
Racket boys makes a good point of talking about all the different kinds of love, even if it's not explicitly. And yes, I'm going to be lame and use the greek's types of love, and add some more, because I can.
Philia
Tumblr media

Without getting too philosophical, philia refers to a love between friends, and it's directly translated as the highest form of love. This is the kind of love the story centers around. And interestingly, the definition of philia doesn't stop there. Aristotle believed that philia could be divided into three separate forms:
A friendship of utility
A friendship of pleasure
A friendship of the good
I found this interesting because the friends navigate between these as the story develops. Mainly with Hae-kang when he first arrives to town. He starts hanging out with the rest of the kids out of a necessity to do so. They needed him and he needed them. That was it.
Soon, as Hae-kang grows fonder of badminton, the boys start sharing a common interest, to which we can add their love for games. They start growing interested in each other, and a deeper connection starts to form.
As they navigate a different set of experiences, a true friendship begins to develop, where they see themselves as part of a whole that must function together.
So, what is love, Hae-in? It's the way your brother and his teammates fight over the silly stuff passionately, and let go of the heavy ones. It's the way they protect each other even when the odds are against them.
Storge
Tumblr media

Storge often refers to the love between family members, most importantly that which parents give to their kids and vice versa. This one is one of my favorites when depicted in the show, and it also has to do with the nature of this type of love.
Storge often feels unilateral from the parent to the child, and I think it has to do with the fact that the children are often oblivious to the parents' sacrifice. While sacrifice doesn't necessarily mean love, it is noticeably clear that this is the storytelling the showrunners are going for when they depict it.
Hae-kang's mom stopped her athlete career in order to give birth to him, Yun-dam's parents showed him off in the store and bought him his favorite dishes, Yong-tae's dad gives him tonics to make him feel better and buys him a cellphone, and U-chan's dad tries to understand him increasingly every day.
On the other hand, we can also tell how much the kids love their parents, Hae-kang often hides his pain in order to not worry his parents, Yun-dam tries his best at everything in order to make his parents proud, Yong-tae knows everything about plants just like his dad, and U-chan tries to please his parents. The girls too, try to show their affection to their parents in the best way they can.
So, what is love Hae-in? Is the way your brother, dad and you all sleep with their arms raised. It's the way you can all find comfort in each other, and it's the way they all tried their best to explain to you what love was.

This is known as hospitality love, in Greek mythology, it was portrayed as helping a stranger would grant you blessings. Close to christian's belief of "love thy neighbor". This is my favorite portrayal in Racket boys, as the community via this kind of love develops in one more similar to that of family. It started with Hae-kang and Hae-in arriving in town and being welcomed by the elderly, with Hae-kang's bad curry, with the village chief hospitality, and it developed into a lovely mural, a community effort to cheer each other on, and a funeral that was closer to a party.
So, what is love Hae-in? It's the way the city people found their will to live in helping those in the small village they came to die in. The way your brother's curry accidentally showed them love, and the mural showed their gratitude toward the community.

The love of self in here has been portrayed as both good and bad. Hae-kang is the biggest example of this duality, at first, he was overconfident, and lead to him losing a few games. Then, he started both training and still being confident in his skills, making him unstoppable in his quest for success.
Other characters also manifest this love. I think another example is In-sol, who knows what his worth is, and that's why he strives hard to be better at everything.
While Se-yoon is very good at what she does, I don't think she has found her self love quite yet, as she puts the sport and others opinions of her above her own health and needs. It could be argued that Hae-kang is the same, but Hae-ckang doesn't necessarily win to keep others satisfied, which Se-yoon feels is something she must do.
So, what is love, Hae-in? It's the way your brother constantly strives to be a better version of himself, the way each one of the team members know their worth despite losing or winning. It's the way your mother is so confident.
Eros
Tumblr media

While romantic love is not very prominent in the story, we can still see it with the city couple, Hae-kang's parents, and the exploration of a love different than those of friends that Yun-dam and Ji-won experience, along with Hae-kang and Se-yoon.
The city couple are the biggest example of a passion for each other, no matter how calm and odd they may be on the outside. They are always taking the other into consideration, and seem to be such an extreme version of passionate love that they seem to be unable to live without the other.
With the teenagers crushes, we can also see how they navigate this change from merely a philial love to that that is more erotic. Of course, they can coexist, but when you start approaching the realm of eros, new feelings can surface, such as jealousy, and sense of fierce protection that can overlap with control if one is not careful.
So, what is love, Hae-in? Is the way your father still looks at your mother as if she were the biggest treasure he could ever find. It's the implicit understanding that the gaze of the city couple's hold. It's the way your brother sometimes seems silly.
I could also touch on agape, but I honestly don't know how this particular form of love is approached in the series.

hey! I have a question as I'm still trying to navigate my way thru paganism n where I wanna take my beliefs: does luciferianism have anything to do w abrahamic religions (like is ur lucifer the same as theirs)? and if He is, how do u connect tht w ur hellenistic beliefs? I'm rlly interested in lilith and hecate but they're both from v different traditions/teachings n I don't know what to think of it
(I’m posting this publicly because it’s something I’ve actually meant to write up on for a while, but please lmk if you want me to take it down and I can just dm you about it!)
tbh, this is one of those things I struggle with myself at times. I’m a pretty hard polytheist and a bit of a pantheist, aka, I don’t really think that there’s just one single true religion. I think that it’s fully possible for the Hellenic, Kemetic, Norse, etc pantheons to all exist seperately at the same time, so when I decided to acknowledge my connection to Lucifer it wasn’t a stretch to say that the Abrahamic god could also exist. Which, yes, I do see the Lucifer (and by extension, Satan) I work with as being from Abrahamic, specifically Christian, mythology and tradition.
Fun fact, Lucifer actually came to me before Aphrodite, but at the time it was much easier for me to accept Aphrodite’s call than his. Lucifer is… I’m not sure demanding is the right word, since I have the right to say no at all times, but he asks for the best and nothing less.
The issue there comes in with interpretation and all that. I was raised evangelical Protestant and I don’t have the most positive view of Christianity, tho I do my best to be respectful and I’m still trying to exercise that at all times. But really, what I’ve come to for me personally is this: if I don’t think that the Hellenic myths are fully representative of the Theoi and that they often show human bias, there’s no reason that biblical Christian myth has to be fully true. I don’t think the Christian god is the true god, and tbh I go towards a slightly gnostic view of Christianity (so, the universe itself is the entity called god, tho I say Chaos bc Hellenic, but there are a variety of deities who have tried to claim the title of god).
Plenty of Hellenics work with Norse or Kemetic deities, so I see me working with Lucifer and sometimes entities associated with him no differently. Also, while it’s def more common on tumblr to see recon and revivalists, it’s possible to just be a pagan who works with an Hellenic goddess but has no connection to Hellensimos.
Lilith is a complicated figure that scholars have a lot of trouble pinning down the origins of, but I don’t see why a similar view couldn’t be used for her.
It’s also worth noting that theistic Luciferianism and/or Satanism doesn’t require one works with Abrahamic figures. While I don’t really see a point in divorcing Lucifer and Satan themselves from Abrahamic myths, Lucifer merely means ‘lightbringer’ while Satan means ‘adversary’. In my personal opinion, out of all the Theoi, Hekate fits ‘lightbringer’ quite well. She’s a kthonic goddess, associated with all realms, a titaness feared even by Zeus, and the one who taught Medea witchcraft. She’s not light in the sense of the Ouranic Theoi, but she is a light within the dark.
But really, at the end of the day, Luciferianism and Satanism are pretty solitary practices. While I think there’s a lot to be gained from us all talking and sharing experiences, we rarely agree on things and oftentimes our beliefs can be wildly different. The so called left hand path is one that oftentimes ends up being created by the individual out of their own necessity.
TLDR bc this got long: I’ve always been a pantheist and hard polytheist so starting to work with Lucifer wasn’t a huge deal, it was more trying to figure out how to work with Abrahamic mythology without making capital G God the ultimate god, Hellenismos doesn’t prevent you from working with other deities, you don’t have to be an actual Hellenic to work with the Theoi anyway, and Luciferianism/Satanism doesn’t have any specific rules anyway
I hope this helps, and if you have any questions about Hellenismos/the Theoi or Luciferianism/Satanism I’m always down to chat! I’m pretty passionate about both lmao
