The sixtieth free, unedited chapter of my upcoming book, “The Heist at Cordia Aquarium” is now available on its website (or click here to read from the beginning).
The name for this release is “Claws, Brawls, and Balls”. I think it’s funny. Please laugh.
"She saw my face — … — get her — … — I'll finish the job."
In the midst of barreling down the wavy corridor of the Hall of Discovery, sweat turns to ice against Avery's skin. She tilts into her sprint. No. A pompadour-having ogre does not get to murder me.
Then, as if someone ripped open the blinds of a dark room, Avery's mind swallows her up and spits her into a crisp, vivid world of possibility. An intrusive thought as tangible as the monster hurtling after her.
Her viewpoint switches. No longer behind her own eyes, but from the side. A profile view of the hallway and herself running. The man is there too, gaining a couple inches each second. She struggles: pumps her legs and arms even harder to outpace him.
Something tears.
Pain shoots up her leg; pain even her disembodied self can feel. She collapses to the carpet. A single bound is all it takes for him to reach her and...
Avery mashes her eyes shut. "Not now!"
The man calls out, closer than she expects and with a distinct, New Boston accent. "Yeah? Well that ain't an option."
She whips her head around. Whoa, how did I miss an accent that thick?

You've never seen snow before?? Coming from a 907 area code, i think you nailed cold down pact. I don't think i could describe like a beach or something. Do you have resources that help you describe weather you are not familiar with?
Never seen snow! Okay no well I've seen it from a distance in a plane on a mountain, and I saw it from a distance once in the UK on a mountain, lol.
But up until those points, I hadn't even seen it on mountains up until my mid-30s.
As for resources, they're honestly kind of like "the same" as they are for everyone else - the internet, TV, books, etc. I say "the same" because not everyone knows how to research? But I enjoy researching stuff, and I like recreating the sense of things.
But I always did find it amusing that you know the first two really long fanfics I wrote on this site heavily feature snow, snowing, ice, blizzards, ice powers, cold temperatures and so on and meanwhile the place I live hasn't seen snow since like the dinosaurs. :D

Tis' the season where I mentally and physically suffer. Complaining below (feel free to ignore, I'm just venting. I usually do this every year to get most of it out of my system lol):
mmm the fall/winter SAD is indeed in full swing. No warmth + no sun = a bad bad time. I always get so annoyed when ppl assume that I love winter bc I'm a "winter baby", as if that has any sort of divine intervention on instantaneously adapting you to perfectly fit the climate you were born in. NOPE. Silly human superstition. I start to freeze once it hits below 20C. I wish I lived in a warmer climate o|-<
The depresso is probably going to make me very whiny and moody until next spring, so an early forewarning bc I'm EXTREMELY annoying about it this time of year bc it's the only way I know how to deal with it.
But moreso in addition to the physical stuff is how badly it messes with my mind, making me so depressed to the point of just... sitting in non-moving silence where I become stiff as a board (very painful btw) and I isolate, making the bad depresso brain time even worse where I overthink everything bc of the silence and isolation. It's also always the time of year where everyone goes quiet too, which is understandable, but also makes things 10x worse (I am very alone in my life and where I am, and kind of rely on online friends bc they're all I have. I don't even have a pet. I'm literally just, loner mode. I don't really have much family to speak of, and only one family member I do speak to. I have little to no connections at all. But regardless, this is still the best living situation I've been in my whole life, so that's saying something).

i never realized how important warmth is until these past 2 years... staying warm is so important.. blankets. tea. hot water from the faucet. bathroom heater. handheld heating device for when work gets to be too cold. gloves always, always. never walk to the store w/o bundling up. sleep with socks if feet are cold, even if its sensory hell. take care of the air drafts in your house. warmth >>>>> everything else
idk who typed this, me or a cold blooded reptile who desperately needs external sources of warmth to live -_- (both)
