this is embarrassing so im on anon but as someone who is also currently obsessed with tf2 despite never playing it. what are your opinions on those guys. i am very interested
NICE this is content i love to see!! Sorry if you dont see this post it’s probably been sitting in my inbox for a week, but i’ll tag it, so who knows?
This will mostly be about character in the comics, but I’ll throw in who i like to play as well
Scout: he gives off annoying little sibling energy. very entertaining and funny, he talks non-stop in the comics. his daddy issues go deep and it’s probably good that he doesn’t know HOW deep. Before most matches start i pick scout and run around the map, hitting as many people with the fish as I can. 6/10 cool boy
Pyro: baby. I do wish they had more of a personality besides “obsessed with fire and doesn’t live in reality”, but pyrovision is a very fun concept and makes this guy both loveable and TERRIFYING. Pyro is my second most played, because who doesn’t love not aiming and causing extreme carnage? 7/10 chaotic being
Soldier: OK HONESTLY? MY FAVORITE CHARACTER FROM THE COMICS. this poor, lead poisoned, brain dead, psychopath. only blood lust and patriotism consume the mind of this man, but there really isnt much space up there anyway. his stupidity and knack for pissing off literally anyone is fantastic. also, he ends up dating heavy’s sister zhanna and they have a FANTASTIC dynamic (ok, she actually might be my favorite but soldier is close). I don’t play him that much, but rocket jumping is hella fun. 10/10 GOOD HUSTLE, SOLDIER!
Demoman: Underappiciated and under utilized in fan content! I think he has one of the best origin stories. He’s realatively sane for TF2 mercs, and would probably be all the way there if it wasnt for his nasty drinking habit. There’s also a comic where a soldier and demoman on opposite teams become friends and that is such a good one. Valve definitely could have done better on having more characters who aren’t white, but im glad we at least got Tavish! I suck at demoman but i’m trying to play him more to get better. Kinda surprising since junkrat was my 2nd most played in overwatch. 8/10 "Oh, they're goin' ta have to glue you back together...IN HELL!"
Heavy: Due to his appearance in the telltale poker night game, this guy probably has the most complete characterization. Somewhere between a gentle giant and crazy russian, he’s a family man with a doctorate in russian literature and a strong attachment to Sascha, his favorite gun. He doesn’t say much, but he usually says the right thing. God bless him for putting up with the rest of the team, because if he didn’t, they’d all be goners. Heavy playstyle just isnt fun for me so i rarely pick him. 8/10 Legendary Comrade
Engineer: I feel like we hear the least about this dude’s personality in the comics. He’s a genius engineer in a family of genius engineers. His grandfather created a life extending machine (thats kinda important to the comics) that he later upgraded. Dude literally has 12 Phds. I enjoy his general laid-back texan demeanor. I feel like he’d be really fun at parties for some reason. I’ve been playing engineer way more recently and a lot of his voice lines are sarcastic and a bit goofy. 7/10 texas sized yee haw.
Sniper: someone give this man a fucking break. please. my god. the most mentally there of the team, doesn’t seem absorbed with killing, but does enjoy the challange and competition of sniping. has a bit of an identity crisis (in the form of his superman-esque origin story) which is quickly resolved. probably would be the most pleasant of these guys to meet in real life. i only play sniper on the 2 Fort map and I have never gotten a headshot. ever. 6/10 great shot, mate.
Medic: MY MAN LUDWIG! My favorite character before reading the comics. I’d say he’s a fucked up doctor, but thats only the half of it. He isnt even a doctor anymore (its hard to keep a medical license after removing someone’s entire skeleton). For a dude who stole all of his friend’s souls and literally outsmarted devil... he’s not THAT bad. I mean, sure he abandoned his team to fight against them just so he could commit more atrocities against nature. Sure, he only has an evil smile and demented laugh. But uh... he is... nice to his doves? Yeah ok nevermind I cant really defend this guy. Being a little evil is... kinda sexy though (look up medic cosmetic “The Burly Beast”). In game, my medigun is named “Press E To Send Me To Therapy”. E is the call for medic button. I am a medic main and I am so, so tired. 10/10 “ZHAT was doctor assisted homocide!”
Spy: french asshole. seems pretencious and unattached but he really isnt. actions speak louder than words spy, and even if you had to tell scout you were his father disguised as tom jones, at least you did it. if i play spy i get overly excited at backstabbing someone because i suck at it. 6/10 oui oui effle tower baguette i love making fun of the french
not sure if this is what you wanted anon but i had fun typing these! if you ever get steam, here’s a link to my profile https://s.team/p/kpv-bvtv/JPDMQRWV tf2 is basically the only game I play on steam so I’ll probably be doing that 😎

Jensen’s Preferences
Themes and Preferences
tagged by the rad: @bluteamblueprints
aka, things i’ve always wanted to ask people / have people ask me. please remember to repost rather than reblog!  Getting put under the cut as to not clog dashboards.
what types of genres do you gravitate towards?
Well jeepers I’m a fan of balancing comedy and serious shit, and also a fuckin sucker for romantic shtuff. Found family? HOO YEAH THAT’S THE SHIT. I also enjoy a good spicy thread as long as it’s balanced with humor and actual character work.
Action/adventure? Sign me the funck up. Add in magic or fantasy? Sure why in the not? Monstrous characters that can be sweeties also? Check mate, mate. Also just monsters can be fun.
Tragecomedy is neat. I like to mix my genres like a child at soda fountain.
what types of genres do you gravitate away from?
Angst for angst’s sake. Like I said above, I really am more of a “mix and balance” type writer, and often overly angsty threads die fast or at least get... very tiresome. Doesn’t mean I won’t accept an angst based starter or send one, but it might turn a little silly as well since I’m rping in the tf2niverse. in order to keep things gloomy it takes a lot of negating character progression (since people tend to remain sad for a while in real life) and I’m trained to “yes and.” Also it brings back cringey memories from olden days.
Smut without chemistry or character development. Rushed romance lands here too.
What type of characters do you play often?
Oh boy uh. Mmmm.... sarcastic. Characters. Women who are very terrifying and dangerous but also goofy and awkward? Also men who are terrifying and dangerous but also goofy and awkward. And nonbinary characters who are terrifying and dangerous but also goofy and awkward. Characters heavily inspired by the Golden Girls and Hawkeye Pierce. Uh, and self inserts. It’s actually really interesting to try and look at what you, as a character, would do via stepping back and looking at your basic traits and experiences etc.
What kind of characters do you tend not to play?
Flat characters. I’ve tried with dnd npcs. They always complicate and become gremlins with actual purpose.
Any pairing tropes you particularly enjoy?
Both parties being awkward idiots and not seeing the very obvious signals that the other person likes them. Partly because it makes observer characters just so done.
Enemy to lover occasionally as long as it’s not..weird.
Being insufferable together in terms of puns and chaotic antics
Cuddling, lots of physical affection.
Buddy cop type romance
Being trapped in a space somehow together and shenanigans.
Platonic tropes?
Lotta physical affection and being like... cats in a pile.
You know? A good good cat pile.
Getting up to antics like stealing a mannequin from a store going out of business.
Just being super close
FOUND FAMILY (especially found dad/child dynamics)
Being ready to throw down for each other.
Throwing down for each other.
Being honest with each other, even if the other person doesn’t want to hear it as long as it’s for their sake.
Antagonist tropes?
Ahahah hahahah...
Sorry you just ever uh, make a character so awful, vile, and reprehensible that even you cringe when thinking about them? I did. It’s an NPC for one of my blogs, but he has influenced the lives of all my main Tf2 muses.
Frenemies is fun
Antagonists that are equally in the right as the protagonist but with different methods
True redemption arcs like Zuko.
Also Vegeta type redemption arcs. Those amuse me.
Be mean to Messenger I wanna know how she works.
Prefered thread type?
Paragraphs. I ramble occasionally but tend to match length though I never expect my partner to do the same. Not one liners though, just can’t do it in the tumblr format. I don’t regularly use icons (mainly because I OC a lot) but I hope to do that some more with my Spy blog.
Favorite types of Interactions?
Ones where the muses agree to give both muns the middle finger and just randomly go completely off the rails? Like so in character that they get away from us.
Hurt/comfort
Stuff with MEAT and multiple facets/layers
Wishlist.
For @Oldboyjensenrps
Even more interaction with canon characters for Messenger
To eventually actually get “The Jack” interacting on the blog
Familial threads
AUs
Specifically working with Messenger’s 10th class Verse-Mercsenger (under [merc au] tag)
More frands/more stupid, questionably-legal antics
Fight the messenger
adopt the messenger
seduce the messenger-sucker for well done romance and/or smut threads
For @dastardlydapperbastard
Interaction with other mercs
franship with other mercs
fights with other mercs
All the above with ocs too
Good luck romancing him but that would be interesting to see if anyone succeeds
accidentally adopting but he’ll never admit it ocs
awkward scout threads if anyone needs a spy
buddy cop type Scout threads
Interacting with Scouts that aren’t his Scout and accidentally (but again he’ll deny it) adopting them
Crack him open and feast upon his emotions somehow
Open the can of worms that is Jolene. (see bio)
let me be the grumpy old stab man
tagging: I think everyone I interact with is spoken for on this one, so if you’re reading this and haven’t done it you, I tag you pikachu.

Fandom thing : well tf2 of course u.u
SEND ME A FANDOM
I’ll tell you:
The first character I first fell in love with:
Okay so the very, very first character was Medic. Like… Iunno. He was just iconic to tf2, like you can’t think “Tf2” and not think medic. But honestly, my view has broadened a lot since which leads us to…
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now:
SOLDIER!! I LOVE MY MAIN!!! Yeah I’m a filthy soldier main but I /adore/ him, at least the way his kit works… Man… He has so many options too! The most versatile class! People who don’t understand the game don’t get exactly how much soldier can turn the tables with his banners, and how strong his mobility is, along with how much potential he has both as a roamer and a pocket (This is in homage to all the medics who have pocketed me and gotten me to the top of the scoreboard I love you and thank you and I’m sorry for all the times you have died because I overextended). I just love my boy. I need to get better at rocket jumping bc… God you have no idea how good it feels to soar over the battlefield and fucking murder everyone, or do a successful sync jump, or finally beat a level in a jump map that you’ve been stuck on for LITERALLY A MONTH. Like… Fuck man it’s just so enjoyable it’s the closest you’re gonna get to flying, and it’s easier and less risky than sticky jumping. I just gotta remember to stop accidentally blowing myself up by shooting walls. I promise it only happens when I’m really really tunnel visioned on something.
The character everyone else loves that I don’t:
Uh… None of them? If I had to choose I’d say scout, but only bc some portrayals of him really really turn him into like… A “wahh wahhhhh I’m a little kid (nowfuckme)” kind of way which is very. Decidedly. Uncomfortable. Bc. That’s. No thanks. But most of the time he’s tolerable.
The character I love that everyone else hates:
There isn’t one? All the characters get a TON of love from the whole fandom. Like there isn’t any particular character that anyone hates I guess?
The character I used to love but don’t any longer:
Uh… Medic I guess. I don’t love him as much anymore mostly bc of the fandom sometimes really really fucking him up. Besides, I’ve found a new favorite and that fav is spy.
The character I would totally smooch:
None of them. Most of them are old enough to be my parents or my grandparents.
The character I’d want to be like:
Probably Spy…? Mysterious and shit… Maybe that’s why I play a Spy muse lmao
The character I’d slap:
Probably Saxton Hale bc I know he won’t fight me. I can literally pass as a 12 year old boy, and if you saw me you would also agree.
A pairing that I love:
Uh…..????? Idk??? I love a bunch of them… But I guess the one I obsessed over the longest was medic/spy for obvious reasons. But I also love freedom fries. Also obvious reasons.
A pairing that I despise:
Okay don’t send me hate for this but I literally. Cannot. Stand. Snip.er/s.cout. I. Can’t stand it. I cannot believe it’s the third most popular ship tag on Ao3, second being sniper/spy and the first being heavy/medic. Maybe I’m dumb, maybe I’ve never really read the comics (which isn’t true, I’ve read them all and I don’t see the interaction happening or making sense), and maybe I just really dislike both sniper and scout (which is true I don’t really like either of them that much I’m sorry y'all I don’t. Scout ocs are cute though. Sniper ocs are also cool. But the canons… I just… Dislike them. Idk why. I just don’t like them). It’s just because I see Sniper as a fairly reclusive character. He isn’t socially awkward, certainly, but he probably also prefers to be alone? And the only character than can be more abrasive and intrusive than Scout is Soldier and not by a very large margin. I guess a lot of people don’t really understand how introvertedness works but being a die-hard introvert who can still survive in social situations… I just can’t see Sniper putting up with Scout’s loudness unless you seriously make them out of character. Come to think of it I don’t really ship scout with anyone… Most of the team is close to his dad’s age (they’re all probably a good chunk of years older than him) and even Pyro… Like I just… I also can’t ship pyro with anyone it just feels weird bc if you do you’re gonna have to come up with a face claim and all that…
Maybe if someone did a cross-faction enemies fic I might be able to get behind that bc lemme tell you when I played sniper I was shot by more scouts than back stabbed by spies and I wasn’t even playing with a razorback. But otherwise no thanks. It doesn’t mean y'all can’t ship it, it just literally means I cannot get behind it and ship it as much as y'all do… Come to think of it, most of the popular ships in this fandom are kind of distasteful to me idk. It goes like heavy/medic, sniper/spy, sniper/scout… Sniper/medic…? And then so on and so forth. The only one I can kind of get behind is heavy/medic bc I can clearly see the care and respect between them, and same team sniper/spy I can also get (especially after comic #6) and their dynamic is actually interesting (professional bushman and gentleman rogue), unlike some of the other ships… Like I just don’t see scout taking the time to get to know sniper, especially with how fucking deep in he closet he has to be if he’s gay/bi/pan. And I don’t see sniper willingly reaching out to other people, especially loud people who are probably young enough to be his kid. Iunno man I just don’t see it and probably won’t see it.
