Right. So. The amount of phalic symbols (swords) destroying women’s bodies (Saya and Tokiko), coming out of their bodies (Arashi), and being used as weapons (Sohi and Hien are depicted as swords in trc) in x/1999 is so...

I think it was in the clamp in wonderland podcast that I heard the hosts talking about the authorial intent behind the symbolism and I have to agree its a great metaphor for violence against women. 

I don’t always pull the “feminism” card but, at least in the depiction of how the swords are born from Saya and Tokiko, it’s so brutal that it is hard not to make the connection.
