WAIT I HAVE LORE FOR THIS All the rich people who wanna suck up to the gang keep buying her CAT kits for birthdays and all sorts of religious holiday stuff so she just has a ton of them laying around unassembled but she definitely made a couple as a kid. First one was with Von Kuronar though and ended up going terribly because he's kind of weird and has no social skills and is overly passionate about machines (AS HE SHOULD BE OMNISSIAH BLESS AMEN BROTHER YEEHAW) and she was like, a toddler. Atleast WAY too young. So he yelled at her until she cried and then built the thing himself in classic Von Kuronar fashion. He still considers it an excellent bonding experience though his zero self awareness having ass has no clue how terrifying he was. Second one she built by herself and since she literally had no friends besides just, old as hell cyborg people and half dead lobotomite servitors, she just treated this thing like it was an actual person and talked to it and had entire conversations with it as if it could talk back. She used to play pretend with it and make stupid skits with its recording program and send those skits to the gang. Literal stupid kid stuff Kalanis would be in the middle of some big scary important interplanetary meeting with an inquisitor discussing how he totally Did Not embezzle money and should not be impeached, and then he'd just get a video of Kat beatboxing. It was dumb as hell though and got stuck under her bed until she found it a few years later, so then she started using it for her experiments and curiosity and all that. Literally sends it through the sewers with a little scraper thing duct taped to it because she wants a sample of sewage slime to add to her funny creature experiment. She once sent it to the lower hive levels because she wanted to look at The Poors but was too scared to go there herself. Unfortunately they just beat it up and dismantled it so they could resell the parts. Kat got upset and sent Lyrane to go retrieve all of it and he certainly did do that, but in the mass civilian casualties sorta way. Absolutely no one steals and dismantles CAT units ever again the entire populace has heard tales of The HorrorsTM. She still has this thing its just broken and she hasn't gotten around to fixing it yet. It's on the backburner. Lyrane will probably fix it if she never does though. He'll inherit it.

World Building Proposal: Let me know if this vibes with what you and your friends have got so far:

Archmagos Von Kuronos has set aside sections of Ineptus Anser's surface for "Development by Off-World Benefactors." These areas are FAR from his home in the capital hive city. They were also formerly the domains of some annoying challengers to the Archmagos authority. Now they are the homes to the following three groups:

A tau expeditionary group led by a water caste spy-mistress and her ethereal wife. Their relationship is forbidden but they don't care. The ethereal never wanted to be a leader, she was just born into the job, so she lets her wife call the shots. This has resulted in a lot of support for water caste projects while everyone else gets secondary priority. The other castes are getting a bit disgruntled by this favoritism but are too paranoid to act, because of the spies. Life for humans within their territory is almost utopian, with conditional access to food, shelter and health-care. The Tau pay their dues to the Archmagos by importing food to his hive.

Ork Mek-boy clan called "Da Scrappa 'Eads" that are more interested in tinkering with "Tekmologee" than doing a waaaaugh. Scrappa'Eads own several reclamation facilities, a squig-power plant, and an "Aka-dumb-me fer Runts!" Because of mandatory enrollment in the academy, the vast majority of the orks are Mek-Boys and Bionorks. Runts that attempt to escape their education, as well as rebellious human slaves, will get arrested and imprisoned by The Git-Catchers, a grot and squig police department. Speaking of squigs, the orks were able to breed the beasts to be able to convert toxic waste into high quality fuel. Which is what they use to pay rent to Kuronos.

Chaos warband consisting of a Iron Warrior Warpsmith, an Alpha Legion Biomancer, a thrice-bound Daemonhost known as The Guardian and The Host, and a Word Bearers Preacher. The four (five) of them had come into possession of thousands of mysterious artifacts from raiding a space hulk. They needed some place in the middle of nowhere to sort, test, and store their loot, and so they chose Ineptus Anser. Archmagos Von Kuronos has been very accommodating to the war band, only demanding that he paid in artifact testing data in exchange for use of facilities.

So this is what I've got. I understand if it's too much and you won't use any of it. But hopefully you enjoyed reading it.

Yeah this is definitely something these morons would do all sorts of things can go down on this planet 💀💀💀 maybe not von kuronar because he's racist and the most dogmatic of the gang but the other two (who i literally NEVER post about rip all the lore just sits in my brain and never sees the light of day) would definitely just outvote him and then do some silly chaos and xenos stuff.

Not sure if it's been asked before, but why is Mordekai Kat's favorite uncle?

Because he encourages her shenanigans. The gang's got a weird dynamic and they're all sorta very bad at being tech priests. They've done so much silly illegal stuff and are so dysfunctional that practically all of them would be considered hereteks and shot on the spot if they weren't out in the middle of nowhere and literally running a planet, but Kalanis and Von Kuronar are in denial about it and SWEAR they are loyalists because Omnissiah forbid they come to the realization that they suck and strayed so far from their home forge world indoctrination being isolated on frozen ice hell planet that they're practically dark mech now. Mordekai is more self aware and accepting that he's a blatant heretek. He just doesn't care. He wants to study whatever, literally going for a 100% completion run in Practically Everything. 16 Universal Laws? Literally who even asked.

But what ends up happening with Kat is that she has no real reference as to how things are SUPPOSED to be. She sees Kalanis and Von Kuronar telling her NEVER to do THIS THING, and then watches them do the exact same thing and possibly even WORSE. Like how is she supposed to follow literal Holy doctrine if the people she's supposed to be learning from don't even follow it themselves? They're hypocrites and it confuses her. And she sorta is trying to get validation, but just can't pinpoint how to get it from the other two goofballs, so she makes her silly creatures and experiments and gets super excited about her discoveries then gets shot down and doesn't understand why.

But because Mordekai is like the most """sane""" and doesn't have an identity crisis lol, he can hype her up and encourage her antics and tell her to go get more knowledge. Probably not very good that he does that she's gonna end up doing a classic kat oopsie moment and make little nurglites that spread everywhere and kill everyone all because she read about it in an illegal book and thought it'd be cool and funny 🤷‍♀️

But also because her only other uncle figure is Kalanis and Kalanis is kind of a power hungry snake so mordecai regular show is the better option
