I want ask what is your idea for a skin line based on masked slashers. You can choose four operators. Here is my example The operators are Vigil, Totter, Sesa and Broca.
Here is the descriptions of the outfits.
Totter is the free skin. Totter wears a white mask with no distinct features except that the mouth closed and the mask prevents the eyes from being scene notably it doesn't cover his hair. His clothing looks like his regular outfit except in more darker colors with the exception of his gloves which actually cover his entire hands.
The description: The hunter, a man who gave up hunting animals and moved on hunting bigger prey, people. The reference is from the movie hush and a bit of Micheal myers.
Broca is an 18 OP skin. Broca is wearing a large black hood with a hockey mask that looks like parts of it are stitched and stapled on. He wears a black robe with an apron that looks dirty. His chainsaw is modified to look like a chainsaw and a cleavor combined. The description:The executioner was a man who has seen the unjust must punish the unjust as his mission. The reference is Jason voorhees, a bit of leather face and pyramid head.
Sesa is the 15 OP skin. Sesa is wearing a half comedy and half tragedy mask and you can see his hair and horns. He wears a large black coat with the ends of the coat ripped with an print of his mask but the tragedy and comedy half's swapped places in a red hue. The descriptions of this skin, The gamemaster, there were once two brothers but one lost a game. Now there is one. Some say it's the younger. Others say it's the older but none have lived to The reference was mostly Scream, the parody Scary Movie and the devil ghostface cosmetic from dead by daylight.
Vigil is the L2D skin and the 21 Op skin. Vigil is wearing a demented smiling wolf mask with teeth shape. He wears a tiny crown on his head. His outfit has a long cape with a fur lining on the top. The cape has a black and white checkered pattern. The rest of his of his outfit is a prince's outfit mixed with suit in black and white.
Fun fact I was supposed to make a final girl counterpart to this with Penance as the limited 2D skin.
I will tag these peeps to see their reactions. @waheelawhisperer @shuttershocky @yakourinka @cerastes

Hey, here's a concept for artists who love drawing Tarot cards with fictional characters, especially from Arknights, I present to you: Specter Alter in her skin as a Major Arcana representing "The Lovers." I rest my case.

[Content ID: a screenshot from Arknights of part of Saria's module story. The entire story follows.]
'Saria stared at the old gloves before her.
They had originally been locked away in a closet in the Director of Defense's office, Rhine Lab HQ. Her departure had been too rushed to take nearly any personal items. And they should have cleaned out her office long ago. So why save these? Why send them to Rhodes Island? And why now?
A few days ago, at the intervention of the Maylander Foundation, construction ceased on dozens of unlawful experiment sites. Certain people had bribed officials in the municipal planning department to circumvent the necessary auditing procedures, and used fabricated plans to deceive the ethics review committee. Business as usual. Saria had spent months on the move to find evidence of their illegal dealings—fortunately she'd gotten ahold of Anthony Simon, along with his sources. Ultimately, over half of the test sites shut down had belonged [to] Rhine Lab. Maybe that was why these boxing gloves turned up now. A warning, or even a reminder.
They were hardly the first boxing gloves she'd ever owned. Those would be the ones her father gave her, clearly unfit for a child, which always chafed her skin to the point of bleeding. But she persisted and did as her father told her, pounding her weakness into a sandbag, along with all her *impractical* emotions, punch by punch. Others had minds filled with openings, so one moment of complete disarray was all she needed to shatter their defensive line in a single punch. Saria was never as enamoured with fighting as so many other boxers were: for her the skill was simply a means to survive until now.
Unconsciously, her fingers read the ridged words along the back of the gloves. 'Trimounts Institute of Technology'—she'd once taken part in an intercollegiate tournament with these. She spent many a late night in the boxing club back then, always with a plus-one tagging along. That certain someone wasn't a fan of the sport, nor was she interested in the tournament, but hung around simply because 'varying your environment prevents your mind from getting stuck in certain lines of thought.' She wasn't joking: not much later she proposed the concept of a hand-mounted exoskeletal operating system, based on observation of Saria's own movements. That system was still in use to this day, in the office of Rhine Lab's Control.
Though they hadn't seen use in so many years, the gloves looked as snug as ever. Saria very nearly put her hands in them, but a slight ache from beneath her shoulder blades held her back—apparently a call to adjust the dosage of her painkillers. The mercenaries outnumbered her in her last investigation, after all: a whole platoon against one.
It meant she was gradually getting close to the truth.
A few minutes later, Saria let go of the gloves, stowing them in the lowest drawer of her temporary desk, and once again picked up Ifrit's latest physical report.

Arknights 4th Anniversary Summary
First part of the stream is that they showed old concept art of the game as well as the concepts for NPCs, the setting, Closure and Kal'tsit etc. I recommend reading more into this once there are translations bc its so interesting to see the thought process behind the world of arknights!!
01 | New Sidestory
Tumblr media
Rhine Lab focused event where they appear to focus on the evolution of Terra (and might go even to space??? Endfield moment????)
New stage mechanics where you play catch with a hyper realistic eye that acts as a roadblock
elevator mechanic????
Tumblr media
02 | New Operators
Tumblr media
6* Tactician Vanguard Muelsyse
Places a blob that doesnt take deployment space and has no melee/upper tile restrictions
It appears that it copies the stats and range of the operator so for example, if you place down a Fartooth, the summon gets her range and her stats as well.
One of her skills makes her make 3 more summons and they can shift(?)
Tumblr media
6* Core Caster Ho'olheyak'
Can levitate enemies like Irene but she can also silence them
Her Skill 2 is like Amiya s2 except she randomly levitates and silences 2 enemies
Skill 3 makes her have sniper range and summons three tornadoes per lane.
Tumblr media
6* Welfare Abjurer Silence the Paradigmatic
Talent 1: All allies in range have shelter, the lower their HP, the higher the effect
Talent 2: Allies in range with low HP will gain regen, effect doubled for rhine lab operators
Skill 1: ATK up
Skill 2: ASPD up, can summon a drone that enhances talent 1, will self destruct when skill ends
Skill 3: ATK up, talent 1 enhanced, when an operator in range tales lethal dmg, instead keep their HP at 1 for a few secs Can only use a few times per battle, can manually turn off
Tumblr media
5* Heavyshooter Sniper Melanite
No known info
03 | New Skins
New Bloodline of Combat skins for Orchid, Ebenholz, Specter Alter, Ch'en Alter, Kal'tsit, Justice Knight
Live2D skins for Spalter, Chalter and Kal'tsit, with kal'tsit being 24 due to new voicelines
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
04 | Other major updates
Operator module update for Hexer ops (Gnosis, Pramanix, Shamare), Melanite, Rosmontis, Greyy Alter, Ho'olheyak', W, Kal'tsit
Implementation plan for Lee's detective agency ops
Tumblr media
New game mode (no translated info as of yet)
apparently its contract-based??? def not the new cc update
New robot Defender Friston-3
Tumblr media
Integrated Strategies 4
Based on the Northern Regions of Sami, the least known region in the Arknights lore and the place where actual demons reside in
Santalla might be potentially be the welfare op
Tumblr media
These nordic runes might be used to get foresight on the paths???
Tumblr media
New boss
Banner update
Tumblr media
Basically a wishlist where all operators before Phantom can be chosen. You can ONLY GET the 6* and 5* ops that you've picked.
This banner gives blue certificates which able to get you a specific headhunting pass for this banner as well as buying the ops themselves (note the shopping cart icon on ceobe and astesia)
Tumblr media
Destiny 2 Collab
05 | Merch, Anime, etc.
Tumblr media
Official Arknights Terra Concept book
Second Artbook (get a free Lava the Purgatory skin if you bought it)
Tumblr media
Tabletop game??? Apparently its a collab with China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation
1/7 scale figures for Kal'tsit, Summer Surtr, Summer Mudrock

Consider it my Christmas Gift to you :D
DISCLAIMER: It will be of the same quality of that Qanipalaat skin I mocked up. I will begin tomorrow once I check my inbox! Also please only drop me one at a time, or else I'll struggle to keep up.

my random off the cuff theory about the Kal'tsit look-alike in Endfield (besides the obvious out of universe money+appeal reasons that game companies (especially gachas) make characters look similar to prev characters)
is that she might be either a... hmm, i don't want to say failed, but a failed clone or reincarnation of Kal'tsit. we don't know yet how Kal'tsit's immortality works, her Remnant skin seems to suggest she has either some plans in place when she dies or confidence in whatever force(s) are at work keeping her alive, she's recognizing that she'll be going soon, but also that she'll be back.
so that makes me wonder if this lookalike, if she is indeed connected to Kal'tsit, could be, or have been, part of her contingency plan, either a form that her consciousness might reincarnate into but hasn't yet, or maybe one that she already has and then moved on from.
unrelated to Kal'tsit: looking at the Endfield-ers so far, the name Perlica reminded me of something, the character on the left is Persica, from Girl's Frontline (which i fell off of but still respect), which Lowlight also worked on before making Arknights, and in some draft art for GFL you can see the concepts/designs that would become W and the Doctor.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so i'm now wondering if Endfield's Perlica might be a similar reworking using GFL's Persica as a starting point.

my favorite bizarre bit of Arknights bowlderization isn't Texas smoking in concept art but eating pocky in the final version (because you can view that as a metaphor for her leaving her old life behind, and in that one skin she's smoking)
it's the fact that chiave is very obviously meant to be flipping the viewer off in his E2 art but instead he's just pointing up

Rin do you know the purge movies. Basically 24 hours of anarchy. I thought that Ayato and Childe would be the perfect Villains for this with Xiao in it as well with zhongli being a surprise villain. I thought that Childe or, Xiao would lure reader in reader into the arms of zhongli or childe. Zhongli and ayato pretend to be your savior only to lock you inside forever or just kill you when your guard is down. (How do i find the images look up League of legends skins, Legends of runeterra, Arknights and Fate grand order).
i think i've heard about that movie. basically you have 24 hours and you can do anything you want w/o consequences right?? like you can get away with murder and all the nasty stuff?
hsdlfkjslkdjf xiao luring reader to zhongli's arms YES I LOVE THIS CONCEPT LOCK ME UP SIR
al haitham as a villain in this scenario would work well too. him with his 400 IQ, stringing you and kaveh along. he makes kaveh into a bad person behind the scene and watches impassively as you jump into his arms in fear of his blonde roommate. he gains your trust, he gets to have you as a new roommate... it's two birds with one stone <3 (alternatively he proposes a temporary truce and hatches a plan with kaveh to make someone else the 'bad guy' so they can share you hlsdkjflsd)

Trying to get back to Arknights again. I've been hiatus since... 2020? I don't think I'm smart enough solving myriad stages on this game by strategy so I'll solve this game by... brute force [by brute force I mean I'll max out some suitable operators which fancy me].
Here's my current main team. Still so many operators to raise... the only maxed one was Exusai. >>
Tumblr media
Here's future operators I wish to raise, tentatively >>
Tumblr media
I want to draw my own Doctor OC too but cross finger! Here's the appearance concept [using picrew] >>
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's not the toughest but able to do drastic if needed. He grew beard to make his scar less visible and since his eyes look so cold he wears monocle to soften his looks. I'm trying to make him appears gentle but you can't help to feel wary around him. I choose darker complexion because i think it's more fun to draw. Wavy, long hair because... i want to draw him with braid. Truthfully it's my first time making OCsona who looks like this: mature man with beard, scars, and darker skin were things i hardly draw so it will be fun. Now I have to think for name. Hmm if he's using my username [Cinnamon], would it be weird? Or would it sounds quirky? Haven't decide his race too... I'll update this later.

https://www.reddit.com/r/arknights/comments/ouhnuq/the_summer_event_controversy_seems_to_be_out_of
Here is a good summary.
No more summer limited banner. - I completely agree. What is this, Fate/Grand Order? They're gonna sell us Summer SSR versions of existing SSRs? Get that outta here.
Promise no more producing alter characters in a lighthearted way. - I also agree. Alternate characters should stick to the Guardmiya / Purgatory / Corrupting Heart thing where there's a real lore reason for the alternate character to exist even if Ch'en in a swimsuit is really hot. I'm especially glad to see the Chinese fans are just as enthusiastic about Brawler Gavial as I am.
Decreasing the 300 guarantee limit until 120. - PLEASE DEAR GOD YES IT WOULD ONLY BE FAIR
Cancel this limited banner and change it to Mizuki single banner. - Don't think this is happening after they put in all the work to make Female Tourist C, but I'd like it if she were the last one.
Change holiday Ch'en's E2 art. - They already adjusted her face to look more like Ch'en and less like Blaze...
Change ALL the old character arts in-game, i.e. Theresa's. - I don't particularly agree with this. I see no problem with Theresa's art.
Explain why Amiya's "Planter" skin and Eureka (the spokeswoman for this event) has G-Dragon's "PEACEMINUSONE" on them. They suspect that HG is committing plagiarism by drawing the "PEACEMINUSONE" on them, which is a registered logo. They look somehow identical. This is not the first time HG was blamed for this. Long ago, someone found out that Lappland's, Liskarm's and Provence's archives were plagiarized from Rainbow Six Seige. Upon knowing this, HG immediately reworked on it and issued an apology. People miss the old HG which responds immediately. - Yeah they should definitely explain this. That being said, I am flabbergasted that Liskarm, Lappland, and Provence's profiles were straight up stolen from Rainbow Six Siege who they would eventually collab with and make canon within Arknights. That's hilarious. Also they need to really check with their collaborators because goddamn, between stealing from Siege and the composer for CC#3 plagiarizing the music for the Permanent Map that forced HG to immediately replace it with a track from Darknights Memoirs, they might get a bad reputation for not vetting who works for them.
Demand Wei@W to explain the issues concerning the in-game character arts and the recently published art book. - I do feel like an art book should be more than just interviews and E2 art yes. Where's the concept art for the operators?
Readjust the contain in the RMB 198 package. - A complaint exclusive to the CN server. I have no comment!
Explain why the pink doggo has been delayed all the time. - WHERE THE HELL IS SHE HYPERGRYPH
Promise that the new module system is F2P. - Completely agree. The modules are free /now/, but so was the game not having a single limited character until Nian came out. They better goddamn remain free for everyone. They shouldn't lock such powerful upgrades behind any kind of gacha system.
Do proofreading to ALL the previous story dialogues and wordings. - Not critical, but yes please
Stop releasing event reruns in one shot. - I don't particularly mind this one actually. A ton of event reruns in a row is fine with me, but I'm just like that.
Give a maximum deadline for releasing each new main story arc and speed up the process. - I disagree with this actually. I think HG should take all the time they need to write chapters. 6 months between story chapters doesn't even begin to faze me. How long was the longest gap between story chapters in FGO? 1 whole year Between LB5.2 and 5.5? These things take time.
Explain that will there be new roguelike events and will they be permanent. The previous Interlocking Competition receives many negative feedbacks because there is too few maps for the players. On the other hand, they are demanding for either the rerun of Ceobe's Fungamist or other new roguelike events because they love it. Also, they want roguelike gameplay to be permanent in the game. This is more of the players' personal opinion. - HELL YES PLEASE BRING BACK FUNGIMIST MY LOVE I MISS ROGUELIKE MODE MAKE IT PERMANENT SO WE CAN PLAY WITHOUT SANITY

Food Fantasy: An Analysis on what killed a Golden Goose (1/3)
So first things first, disclaimers! I do not claim nor pretend to know every nook and cranny, ins and outs of the history of FooFan's conception, existence and uncertain future. I do not own the game nor its characters, only the opinions and thoughts stated hereon out.
This was born to vent out my frustrations with how a game like this was abused poorly by its own developer and publisher instead of being nurtured to become its full potential that could have overshadowed and remained better than the likes of Tencent's Tales of Food --I could dream, but it honestly had the potential to be.
Out of respect for the main tag, I personally will not be tagging this post and the following two with the main tag. If you want to tag it yourself with it, that's your choice. Only followers of my blog will see this.
This analysis is divided into three parts: Funtoy, Elex, and the Community. It starts under the cut. Well let's get started.
Funtoy
Ah yes, the creator. The developer. You'd think that with their sudden rise to fame during their global launch, they'd have used the massive profits they earned within the first quarter of 2018 to improve certain things about the game and then trickled it down as quickly as possible towards Global, right? Yeah, I thought so too.
After playing the game since launch, I've seen and experienced way too many things that just hammer in the fact that this is one of the most unfair gacha I've played in years. Some reasons being the following:
(Note: These are experiences ONLY on Global's version, it may also apply to CN being the original server)
⦁ The game's gacha model is aimed towards maximum predation on its players. F2p are forced to either spend some money (and thus tempt them to keep spending after getting a taste of it), or risk not even getting a good ascension of the unit to be useful at all. Paying for the event packs also doesn't guarantee that you would be able to secure a spot in the ranks. In fact, if you can't comprehend how the battle mechanics work, you could even de-rank. Fun way to burn that 800$, huh? At least you have the skin from rebates.
⦁ A little less known thing and probably theoretical at worst, the long joked about spaghetti coding of the game along with an outdated spine technology for the sprites could very well be the reason why a 2D game like this experiences the shittiest lags. Also how easy it is to hack this game with the right know-how.
⦁ Speaking of bad gameplay mechanics, did you know you could spend over fifty Mirrors and not get that final enhancement from +9 to +10 simply because there's absolutely no tangible safety net before +10?
⦁ If you're F2P, this game is terrible in giving you resources to stockpile. Because Funtoy certainly doesn't have a lot of weekly/monthly or even friendly events wherein you can get resources without spending another kind of resource. The Hawthorne event's rewards are lackluster at best, Bingo is severely limited in what it gives, and Recall also doesn't give much for a big event that only happens (supposedly) every 6 months. Did I also mention that daily resource rewards also kinda suck compared to how much you burn in just one event?
⦁ Monthly subs are a scam. Yes, you heard that right. My point of comparison here is Arknights. A monthly in AK allows you to have enough to 10-pull after 30 days, on top of a bit of stamina to help you. In FooFan? You have two monthly subs that do different things and even then, you won't have enough to 10-pull by the end of 30 days, nor is the stamina you get enough to even stockpile and ease the pressure of your need to save for the Gates or that stamina event that suddenly popped up.
⦁ A conga line of 'Must procure this unit at a high ascension to do well in the following events!'. You missed the first Pizza event? Missed the first Turkey event? God forbid, you weren't able to 5* your Beer on his debut? Well sorry, that 5* Black Tea of yours isn't gonna do squat to give you good damage. No, your 2* B-52 also isn't going to do much of anything with his lackluster damage capabilities. If you want a chance to get those event URs again, you have to wait for their pool with laughably limited pulls... and a bloated price to even pull.
⦁ The events starting after the first iteration of Turkey event get even more paywalled. As far as I remember, by the time Minestrone rolled around, an F2P with ample crystal resources can only get 2* at best. 3* and above are paywalled.
⦁ The game has incompetent balancing. The devs themselves likely have little experience in gameplay design and balancing, especially for a game with a growing roster of characters . A prime example of them launching a character not knowing it would pretty much unbalance the game? Look no further than Beer. The guy had to have a couple of nerfs done to him because he was just too meta. You know what's sadder? Before the 'switch' to Brave meta, almost all meta units was built to benefit off the Beer meta.
⦁ Artifacts. Do I even have to explain how the introduction of such a game feature so early into the lifespan of this game essentially fucked over the balance even more? Not to mention, all the more reason you'd be crying with the Gates of Trials demanding so much out of your stamina and crystal resources. F2Ps are again, the ones that suffer in this part. What's their reason? Profit, of course.
⦁ The nerf of resto chests. This was the primary source for people who were saving up stamina for the Gates... until Funtoy decided they were being too generous to their playerbase and dropped the stamina probability rate to 1% or less.
⦁ Terrible UI layout and design. Come on, be honest now, you've lost several thousand of your hard earned crystals buying screws in the fishing shop because you didn't notice that shiny warning in small text and a green button with the crystal image slapped on it, didn't you?
⦁ Look at all these SRs! All of them! Wow, they even outnumber the Rs by at least 80! What's that? There's more URs now too compared to Rs and Ms combined? That can't be real. But seriously, you'd think Funtoy could make some of these SRs into Rs and add them to the perm pool/shard fusion so people aren't stuck pulling Macaron or Dorayaki every time. They could have also populated the Team Up rewards with SRs instead of Rs. But you know... that won't bring them profit. Haha... haha.... Oh and I haven't even told you about the SP class...!
⦁ Lore. Yes, I'm sure by now you're aware that the in-game lore is different from the ones in the non-SP Food Soul bios, in the SP Food Soul bios that sort of ties in with the New World story (that global will never be getting btw). At this point, Funtoy handwaves the confusion away by saying, 'they're all different timelines'. Yes yes, an easy and cliche move to explain how shitty the writing direction went after a while. I don't know what happened, all I know is that lore got weird(er) when they introduced SP Rice.
⦁ They. Keep. Adding. More. Characters! They fail to see that a lot of their earlier players have imprinted on the first few waves of Food Souls and they sadly also fail to properly give some of them more story expansion... or skins. At the moment, they're shelling out so many JP-centric Food Souls because... as I see it? They're pandering to the last bastion of whales they have.
⦁ Merchandise. And I mean a variety of merchandise that isn't using the same official art every time. Like they couldn't afford to commission a couple of artists one or two times to make unique merchandise that would sell. They started too late on that train, and they even made it too hard for anyone not in CN or JP to even procure what already exists. Not to mention, they keep using the same 'popular' set of characters for their merchandise and never really expanding out to making merch for other characters.
These are all the things I can list off at the top of my head why Funtoy as a developer sucks ass. They could sweeten their words all they want, it won't change the fact that they've certainly made way too many bad decisions and found out about it too late, and now they're desperate to keep Food Fantasy alive to keep their profits coming in to make whatever that cat girl game they have and that supposedly 'side-game' FF2 they announced.
There may have been problems out of their control that I or you do not see, but one thing is for sure, they were blinded by greed for the money they were raking in on all their servers at the start, and never actually bothered to invest in more manpower in the right places to improve the game, both gameplay-wise and worldbuilding wise. It's actually saddening that this game could have been so much more with several QoLs and a more fleshed out lore, perhaps even spacing out the number of new units they keep introducing while going back to giving their old units more attention.
That's it for Funtoy. We're moving onto Elex in the next part and boy is that also a trip.

Game Title: Arknights

Yostar Limited. (2020). Arknights [Mobile Game]. Retrieved from: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.YoStarEN.Arknights
Arknights is a tower defense strategy game that allows players to place characters at certain locations on the map with a variety of different abilities they can use to take out their enemies. It is a simple concept filled with complexities. I absolutely love this game and am currently still playing it. I love the idea of setting up a defense fortification to thwart the enemies’ plans of destroying your base. The game’s aesthetic is based on eastern anime art styles which is right up my alley of games I enjoy playing. The only thing I don’t like is that the game has a lot of “dead” periods where there is not much content and you are just stuck waiting weeks and weeks for something new to do in the game.
The game plays very well. It is very responsive to your inputs and you can even slow down or pause the game to think of your next move if needed. The characters’ abilities are very detailed and easy to understand so coming up with ideal placements for your units is a skill that can be mastered quickly. The only thing I would do is to make the patches come a little quicker so there aren’t long periods of waiting for content. This is probably going to be my main source of inspiration for my capstone game. I want to make a tower defense game with many different kinds of characters that are used to defeat the enemies. The main idea I would want to take from this game and add to mine is the anime art style and map layout where they use tiles on the floor as locations to place units down.
Since Arknights is a originally a game from China, the global version of the game did not receive some of the special edition skins that only the Chinese version has which I hope will change one day.
 Game Title: Alchemy Stars
Genre: Puzzle, Strategy
Target Demographic: Teens and Up
Monetization: In-Game Purchases
Reference:
Proxima Beta. (2021). Alchemy Stars [Mobile Game]. Retrieved from: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.proximabeta.baiyeus
Alchemy Stars is a puzzle strategy game where you have to have your character walk over as many tiles as possible that are matching in the same color in order to attack the enemy. There are four colors and each of them represent an element (Fire, Water, Forest, and Thunder). You can make your own team composed of characters of these elements in order to defeat the enemy. The characters all have unique abilities such as changing the color of the tiles to match the one you want and enhance your characters abilities like allowing them to attack twice in one turn. You can strategize and plan your path accordingly and defeat the enemy. This is a brand-new game that just came out about a week ago and I am already addicted. This matching tile mechanic is very simple to understand and makes you feel great for getting multiple matching tiles in a row, resulting in big attack combos. It is hard to say anything negative at this moment since the game is so new, but I can say that there is a stamina system in this game which you must use to play the game. Once you run out, you have to wait until it replenishes itself over time in order to play again.
The game plays very well and is responsive to your inputs. It felt clunky and slow when I tried to play on an emulator like Bluestacks, but runs perfectly fine on my Android phone. This game will be another huge inspiration for my capstone game, with its simple mechanics, but complex routes to plan out in your head. One thing I would want to carry over from this game to my capstone game would be adding a long-term goal for the players to achieve. Alchemy Stars has a special character you can unlock for free, but the requirements are very long and tedious. However, the character is extremely powerful and looks amazing so it is something I look forward to putting in the work to obtain, giving me a reason to want to play the game every day.

Epic Seven is a turn-based role-playing game that consists of a team of four characters with various abilities to defeat enemies. I was super into this game for awhile but I stopped playing after reaching the end game. At first, I loved everything about the game. It had nice vibrant anime style characters which I loved. The mechanics were simple and easy to learn since it was turn-based. You had an unlimited amount of time to decide what your next move was going to be so you can plan out all the different possibilities in your head. As I progressed, through the game I noticed that your characters needed to have better gear in order to progress. I was okay with that but then I found out that in order to get good gear, you had to do to this same dungeon for an extremely long time. The gear you received had random stats on it so it was based on luck and chance that you got a piece that your character can use. And you needed gear for four different characters. I ended spending a huge amount of time doing this single dungeon and it killed the fun for me. I did not want to play anymore because of this reason.
If not for this reason, this was still a great game. The visuals and mechanics were great. For my capstone game, I would like to incorporate some of the abilities of the characters that I really liked into my characters. I think it would help make my characters unique and fun to play.

Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius is a turn-based role-playing game based on the Final Fantasy franchise. You create a party of five characters from the Final Fantasy Universe. Each of them has special abilities that you use to defeat waves of enemies and bosses. I was into this game when I played, but I have since stopped. I enjoyed the combat and the art style was an old school 2D sprite style that was popular in the early days of gaming on consoles like the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo. This brought a lot of nostalgia for me since I grew up playing games on those consoles. However, this game has a unique system that I was not too fond of. Each character has an item that you can unlock when you obtain the character. You basically have to build a friendship gauge to 100% to get the item. To increase this gauge, you simply had to use him/her in your party. However, it was not guaranteed to level up the gauge after a run. It was based on chance that you would level up. In addition, each level up was only 1%. This meant that you had to do an obscene amount of runs to fill it up making the game very tedious and unfun.
The game ran smoothly on my Android with no problems, but it seemed like you had to spent a huge amount of money to get the units you wanted, which I did not like as well. It makes me think that the company is greedy for money instead of caring about their players. However, regarding my capstone game, I would like to implement some of the 2D sprite art style characters into my game in order to create a sense of nostalgia for other people like it did for me.

Bleach: Brave Souls is a third-person action combat game. You can create a team of three characters that you can switch between during the game and use unique abilities to fight your enemies and progress through the map. There are buttons on the right side of the screen that you can press repeatedly to attack. There are also four other skills you can use as well but they all have a cooldown before you can use them again. I was super into this game for awhile before I stopped playing. This is the first game I tried that wasn’t what I was used to. It was not a puzzle or strategy game. The game was in real time and fast paced. You have to constantly be putting in inputs or else the enemies will overwhelm you. It was a nice change of pace and I liked the fact that it was using the Bleach anime IP for the game. I watched the anime when I was a kid so a lot of the characters made me remember them and brought back memories.
I thought the game was very fluid and the controls were responsive. However, over time I got bored because the combat felt the same to me. Many of the characters had the same type of abilities and not enough variety so I stopped having fun overall so I eventually stopped playing. For my capstone game, I feel like adding in a bit of fast action gameplay to mix it up with the strategy style would be a cool feat to make the game more creative.

Shadowverse is an anime style card game. There are a variety of different classes of cards that you can use to create your own deck of 40. They include: Dragoncraft, Bloodcraft, Swordcraft, Runecraft, Shadowcraft, Havencraft, Forestcraft, and Portalcraft. Each of these classes have a plethora of unique cards with different abilities that can be used in conjunction with one another to beat your opponent. I absolutely love this game and I am still playing it to this day. There are so many different combinations of cards you can play; the possibilities are endless and outsmarting your opponent is a very satisfying feeling. The only thing I did not like was the amount of money you had to spend to create a deck with powerful cards. You have to open packs and there is a small chance to obtain a legendary card. You also needed three copies of the same card in the same deck so you are less likely to brick. Bricking is when you draw cards that cannot help you and you get stuck and lose the game.
The game runs very smoothly on my Android phone as well as the PC version. The art style once again is anime inspired so it has a nice aesthetic touch to it as well. The game comes out with new card about every three months so there is a steady flow of new decks being made with new combinations which keeps the game fresh. For my capstone game, I was also looking into the possibility of making a card game instead of the tower defense game as my second choice. I would love to implement some of the designs of these cards into my game.

King’s Raid is an action role-playing game that consists of a team ranging from 3 to 8 characters, depending on what type of content you are doing. There are a huge number of characters in this game that you can get for free by just playing the game. They do require a large amount of time to level them up though. I played this game and did enjoy it a lot. The characters all have cool abilities and you play them in real time to defeat the enemies. This means that you have to use your abilities in a strategic and timely manner to defeat your enemies. This type of gameplay was a mix between fast and slow combat which made it very fun for me. Timing and countering your opponent’s moves were key mechanics needed to succeed. However, as I mentioned earlier, the characters needed a lot of time and effort before they can be leveled up completely. This game is reliant on a dupe system where you needed multiple copies of the same equipment so that you can enhance itself. Getting enough dupes to max one weapon was also based on chance. The enhancement had a fairly high chance of failing so sometimes you would have to get dozens of the same item to progress your character. This made me not want to play anymore, especially after failing multiple attempts at enhancing my weapon.
The game ran fine on my Android device without any problems, but it crashed quite often when I tried playing on an emulator. I do think that this game has high potential because I was thinking about coming back to the game. The characters have many different customizable options for their abilities and you can enhance certain aspects of many of them which make the game more unique in my eyes.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links is a card game based on the popular anime series Yu-Gi-Oh! The game uses almost the same exact rules as the real card game that is widely popular today, just a little slimmed down to make the games shorter for the mobile game. As a huge childhood fan of the series and collector of the real cards, I was super into this game. The game was a big source of nostalgia and strategy for me. The card game mechanics are simple but the combinations of cards you can use to take down your opponent can get extremely complex. They also use many of the classic popular cards every kid loves from the TV show so that brings a lot of excitement. The only issue is that you need multiple copies of the same card in your deck to make your deck consistent and less likely to brick. This means that you have to spend real money to open packs and look for dupes. This could easily add up if you need the same copy of one card.
The game runs great on my Android device and on the PC version as well. There is a matchmaking system where the game matches you with an opponent of equal skill based on its elo system. Elo is a number that represents your rank. The higher you go, the harder opponents you will face until you reach the top. For my capstone game, it would be great to have some kind of competitive system in it like this one that helps you play against other strong players.

The Room is a puzzle game set in a dark room and gritty room. It seems to have almost an endless supply of puzzles leading to more and more puzzles on you reach the end and escape the room. Although I love puzzle games, I found myself not enjoying this one that much. The most obvious reason I can think of is that there wasn’t a reward that I cared about. It seemed like you just solve the puzzle just to get another puzzle to solve. I like the feeling of being rewarded after completing a puzzle so that I felt accomplished. This game only just game me another puzzle. I guess that is okay if you are just doing for the fun of it. I will say, however, that the puzzles were very creative and well-thought out. A lot of the times you would receive items that you would need to solve the next puzzle, but you had to think outside the box to figure out its use.
The mechanics were very simple and it ran smoothly on my Android device. You had simple inputs like zooming in and out, rotating the camera, pressing buttons to activate certain instances like unlocking chests with keys. I just wish I felt more satisfied after solving a puzzle which was lacking for me and made me not want to play anymore.

PUBG Mobile is an action shooter based on its console and PC counterpart version PUBG. It was a huge hit so the owner of the IP, Tencent, decided to release it on mobile as well. The game was one of the first of its kind in the battle royale genre, where a set number of players would all land on the same map together and fight in order to survive and become the last one standing to win the game. The players would have to run around and loot anything they can to defend themselves. I was really into this game when it came out originally on the PC. I tried this game out on mobile and felt kind of letdown though. It was not the gameplay or mechanics since it was pretty much the same as the PC version. It was only because of the touchscreen controls. I know it is different for everyone, but for me, I couldn’t get used to the controls. It just feels too awkward and uncomfortable for me to play a shooter type game on a mobile device. Your fingers are covering basically half the screen already so you can’t see your surroundings clearly. The movement also feels off to me because when I try to go forward, I can feel my thumb slowly slipping further and further up until I have to adjust them again.
The game runs great on my Android phone, which I was actually surprised at, because I felt like it would need a lot more to run smoothly. There are 100 players on that map so I was very impressed that there wasn’t any noticeable lag. I wish I can say more good things about this game, but I just simply could not get used to the controls. I do want to revisit the PC version again though since I had so much fun over there.

Genshin Impact is a massive adventure role-playing game with very vibrant colors and anime style characters. You play a character in a team of four that you can switch between whenever you want at the click of a button. The characters all have an element: pyro, hydro, anemo, geo, and cryo and can use those abilities in many different and creative ways to feat enemies and interact with the world you are in. This game has a huge emphasis on exploration and fighting based on elemental reactions. I was super addicted to this game as well from the sheer size of this beautiful game. Everywhere you look, it looked amazing and surreal. There are a ton of things to find such as new cities, treasure, secret caves, puzzles, and much more. The main thing I did not like was the long time you had to wait for new content. Once you finish exploring the area, you run out of things to do and just end up grinding one dungeon for gear.
This game runs smoothly on both Android and PC, but I realized that it is extremely hard for me to play on a mobile device. The controls feel clunky and awkward to use since you have to be quick with reactions and timing. You also have to constantly switch between your characters to use their abilities in quick succession, while still running around to dodge enemy attacks which is veery difficult to do on mobile inputs. I found myself only logging on the mobile version only when I wanted to spend money on the game since the PC version did not save your credit card information. It was more convenient to just login to mobile since it was linked to Google Pay already.

Hearthstone is a card game based on its hugely popular MMORPG World of Warcraft. It features cards that represent many of the heroes, villains, and creatures of the Warcraft Universe. The mechanics are fairly simple. Reduce your opponent’s life points to 0 before yours and you win the duel. There are almost an infinite number of ways you can defeat your opponents with the various amounts of cards out there with unique effects. I personally did not like this game that mainly because of the aesthetic. I know that the mechanics are very good and there are many creative and fun cards in this game, but I simply just did not like the art style. I am just as much a visual person as much as a gameplay person. I like to have fun by playing AND seeing. I am bias because I mainly prefer anime style art so anything that isn’t anime style, I tend to be more negative towards it.
This game is very similar to Shadowverse, which is essentially the game, but with a different aesthetic. The kind I love and enjoy. I do not think this is something Hearthstone needs to improve or anything, it’s just having different tastes in art style. I would like to see maybe Blizzard expand on the Hearthstone Universe by incorporating other IPs they own into this game such as Starcraft and Diablo. That would make me instantly want to play this game again with newer themed cards based on those games. They already did this is their MOBA game Heroes of the Storm, where all their game characters are featured in the same game in an all out battle.
