Can't add on to the fairy diet discussion post bc I think OP has me blocked but I think different fairy species have different dietary requirements. So like, elves, centaurs, and sprites would be primarily vegetarian, while species like dwarves, goblins, and pixies are primarily omnivores.

The Artemis Fowl series isn’t actually about a boy learning how to make friends and save the world with the help of fairies, it’s actually about a boy learning to become a fully-fledged necromancer.

Butler, half eviscerated, looking at the gigantic bull troll and deciding to put on a SUIT OF ARMOR and square back up because the thing hurt his little sister IS the best moment in the first Artemis Fowl book. Like that is what sibling loyalty is
Also him trying to trash talk the Troll is. *chefs kiss*

ROUND 2, MATCH 18
NO MAGIC, POWERS, WEAPONS, OR ADDITIONAL HELP FROM OTHERS
Tumblr media
Spiders Georg:
““Average person is good at fighting” factoid is actualy a statistical error. Spiders Georg, who wins over 1000000 battles a day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted”
“Please it would be funny”
Domovoi Butler:
“Extremely strong, fought a troll”
“Homeboy went toe to toe with a troll.  The Artemis Fowl books are just Butler kicking so much ass, normally ass which has more high-tech gear than him, but he just outplays and outperforms them all anyway.  With his Sig Sauer and brute strength, he can beat many a foe. ”
“He's canonically extremely highly trained in a variety of forms of combat”

I wish there were more af x dp and af x dc content
Artemis is prime adoption material as a child genius with black hair and blue eyes, and the clone and time travel stuff with Danny would slay
Post TLG: “You… overshadowed your clone?” “He was empty.”
Tim may have figured out the Batfam’s identities as a wee lad, but Artemis discovered and finessed a fae government
Holly has to fight a rogue (from either dp or dc)
Danny meets another weird rich person who is at least a little evil and obsessed with something inhuman
Orion and the batkids become besties
Artemis is rich: there could be gala shenanigans
Artemis starts studying ghosts since he’s on better terms with the fairies and the Zone is confused by this pallid living boy and his tank of a Butler
There’s even a chance for reformed rogue nonsense since he was raised to be an unscrupulous figure
Everyone bonding over the massive responsibilities they have despite being children
Bonding over the lack of real recognition
Arty and Timber bond over their absent parents and batshit (heh) shenanigans
Perhaps even Artemis (post character development) bonding over being slightly annoyed about needing to protect and always be better (Danny or batfam tbh)
Liminal!/Halfa!Artemis since he’s died before
Butler and Alfred know each other
Bruce trained at Madame Ko’s for a stint and met Juliet or Domovoi
Danny brings a message from Root/informs the poor man about what Holly is up to with everyone’s least favorite Mud Boy (and maybe angst where they meet again??)
Would Orion be in the Zone?
Arty and Damian bond (first over scathing judgements of others, then over shared interests, or they fill in each other’s gaps of knowledge, and they both have issues with their parental figures that remain unresolved)
Damian bullies Artemis for being weak and having generally bad reflexes (he’s so stabbable)
Artemis helps Danny modify his parents’ inventions (and/or gets into a friendly competition with Foaly and/or Tim to do so, Mulch tries to steal it)
Mulch tries to rob Bruce Wayne and gets in over his head
Goblin in Gotham
Troll in Amity Park
Ghost in Fowl Manor
Constantine is desperately avoiding the LEP
Holly blows up the Nasty Burger in a mission gone wrong (why is the sauce so flammable???)
The Riddler just can’t get one over on Artemis Fowl II
Tucker and Artemis end up in a hack-off with Foaly as the ref (or any combo of that lol—maybe even toss the dc computer batkids in there)
The Batfam finds they can’t speak another language to avoid being understood by Holly
Damian giving into whimsy and trying to disguise it as a diplomatic/vigilante/“just curious” thing when asking Holly about elves
Foaly messes with the batfam or tucker (or even the fruit loop)
Arty and the Bats are allies, find Holly, and when they take her in, she says something like “reminds me of the time Artemis kidnapped me” (Cue concern and confusion from BatFam, or, alternatively, “yeah, that sounds right”)
Batsy adopts another emotionally constipated child with a moral compass that knows where North is most of the time, but doesn’t like facing that direction
Barbara powers through some interference trying to defeat a rogue and discovers the LEP
Portal issues lead to Arty and the gang in the Zone or Gotham
Lazarus is a portal to the demon world, explaining the hair change (and possibly rage)
Dick trains Artemis to get more flexible, Jason bullies him into lifting weights or working on his punches, Damian keeps him on his toes with the whole stabbing thing—
Danny is enlisted by the LEP to tail Mulch underground, finds BatCave
There’s so much that could happen
This was so fun and exciting to think of, but I can’t do any of them justice
I am not a fanfic writer but I want this so bad
If anyone has any more concepts or perhaps even a snippet, please tag me!!

I think the Artemis fowl series would work a lot better animated specifically in 2D.
Reason 1: Several of it's main characters and enemies are mythical creatures.
Reason 2: Many scenes in the books i.e. the fight with the trolls, the bit with the train in the second book, the majority of the opal deception, the time travel shenanigans in the time paradox, several moments in the last guardian and a lot of the Atlantis complex would need to depend heavily on CGI and would cost quite a bit if money.
Reason 3: there's quite a bit of blood and violence in the books and not to forget the part of the Atlantis Complex where the villain gets turned into goop by a DNA cannon.
Reason 4: Mulch.

Royalty AU: Houses and Kingdoms (and others)
(It’s Royalty AU timeee-)
House of Fowls:
-Ruling Body:
The Fowl Family, consisting of King Artemis Fowl the First, Queen Angeline Starinov, and three princes: Artemis (the Second), Myles, and Beckett.
King Artemis is a quiet, somewhat brooding individual, though he carries a distinct air of regality in his gait and cadence, commanding respect immediately upon entering the room. In politics, he is cautious and meticulous, and not afraid of underhanded dealings to secure the safety of his family and kingdom, though he has come a long way in pulling the family out from the feared shadow of his forefathers. When at home, much of his time is spent looking after his family- it is not uncommon to see his youngest sons scampering around the Fowl Palace’s winding halls, with Artemis and Angeline not far behind.
The Fowls are noted as a strange family, with their bloodline associated with magic- though the magic of The People has been forbidden in the Fowls’ kingdom (and most others) for years now, residual magic in their lands has gifted them odd abilities, the most honed of which being the ability to turn certain materials to gold- a ‘Fowl’s Touch’.
Head of Command:
Domovoi Butler, head of the Fowl army and personal protector of the Fowl Family. He has recently fallen into this role after the loss of his uncle, The Major, to the House of The North’s attack on the Fowl Family.
Originally tasked with the personal protection of Artemis the Second alone (a child prone to seeking out danger), this new role is more than he anticipated taking on so soon, and he isn’t sure if he feels suited to it yet.
Despite his doubts, Butler is a legendary fighter with almost any weaponry, and the only known man to single-handedly face a troll, survive, and win. Many tales exist of his exploits, though he does his best to shut them down when they are discussed in his presence.
Kingdom:
The Fowl’s kingdom is primarily moorland, with a broad stretch of rocky coastline bordering the easternmost border, mountains to the north and broad, impenetrable forests to the west, where The People are rumored to live. The Fowls do not enter these woods, as a general rule (Artemis the Second has hopes to one day map them, fairy folk or not)- they are a superstitious kingdom. To the south, the moorlands eventually rise into sparse pockets of deciduous forest- the southernmost border is marked by a large river, which they use to ship goods to the coast (or to kingdoms further west).
The Fowl family has a tumultuous history with its people, and Artemis the First is doing what he can to make up for the harsh rule of his own parents- generally, he is looked upon more favorably, though still regarded as a somewhat ‘suspicious’ ruler. His close relationship with his family have gone a long way in softening this public perception.
Within the Fowl kingdom, a heavy emphasis is placed on knowledge, with many famous libraries and records being housed within their borders. They are not particularly militaristic and do not have a common religion- superstition surrounding The People is deeply ingrained in their society, however (ex: most individuals wear iron somewhere on their person, whether they believe in the fairy folk or not).
Notes:
- Their house symbols are owls (royal family), falcons (army), and a rooster (populace). Falconry is a common sport within the kingdom, and the Fowls have their own birds for sending messages to other kingdoms (and as pets, in the case of the princes).
- Crowns and royal jewelry consists of iron (day-to-day), with gold being reserved for ceremonial circumstances.
- Artemis the First fights with a pike.
(The Butlers):
The Butlers are a family closely intertwined with the royal family of The Fowls, having historically served as their personal protection in the form of knights, army generals, and bodyguards. It is unknown when this history began, or under which circumstances, but it was established long before any current parties can remember.
Butlers are traditionally raised under the assumption of eventual knighthood, being sent to study under the Blue Diamond order of knights at a young age (the exact year varies). Up through adolescence and into young adulthood, these Butlers are trained in various forms of combat, espionage, and matters of warfare, as well as wilderness survival- they are then sent across the kingdoms to complete various missions at the hire of powerful individuals in order to hone these skills. At such a time as the Fowls need them, they are called back to serve the royal family.
Butlers are feared and respected across many of the kingdoms, as they have been responsible for many historical feats. That being said, their family is also often the subject of much scrutiny, as they are intrinsically linked to the Fowls even when serving under a different banner- many inherently see their presence as that of a spy or potential turncoat. It has not been uncommon for Butlers to disappear in distant kingdoms (further from the Fowls’ influence), ‘dealt with’ for fear of Fowl interference within foreign borders.
House of The North:
Ruling Body:
King Britva, and he alone- he used to be part of a ruling family. Used to- the rest of his kinsfolk were all exterminated, rumored to be at his own hand. It is unknown what would have caused him to do such a thing, as no clear tensions were evident among he and his kin, but Britva had always been a violent and unpredictable individual (in large part responsible for why he was never married). He ordered any record or name of his family eradicated across the kingdom, seemingly intending to leave no clear legacy when he dies- if asked, he answers that he wants someone to ‘fight for it’.
For all his explosive violence, Britva is a cunning man, and thus while he is forbidden from directly appearing in many foreign courts, still maintains a large amount of political influence. He seems to have currently set his sights on antagonizing the Fowls- Artemis the First describes him as a “truly loathsome individual”.
Kingdom:
The North kingdom, as the name implies, covers perhaps the broadest stretch of territory overall, securing the entire northernmost reaches of the continent. Scattered with vast mountain stretches and perpetually locked in a state of midwinter, what the kingdom lacks in suitable farmland, they make up for in rich harvests of timbers (an important resource in kingdoms further south, where most forests are guarded by fairy folk), furs, and fish. Almost entirely isolated save for scattered routes through which goods are traded, Britva himself rarely leaves save for the most important political matters, sending his lackeys to make the difficult journey instead.
Notes:
- House symbol was a wolf, is now a white bear or wolverine.
- Britva fights barehanded, or with bludgeoning weaponry- he generally dislikes swords/knives or wearing heavy armor. He has a set of spiked, sharpened gauntlets that belonged to his father, though he really uses them more for beating things into pulp than as the slashing implements they were designed to be.
House of Spiro:
Ruling Body:
King Spiro is the only living member of his immediate family- this was largely the fault of the traditional means of ascending to the throne… trial by combat, to the death. Spiro has yet to create an heir himself and seems largely disinterested in doing so- instead, it seems his cousin Costa is being lined up to follow his footsteps, though Spiro doesn’t seem to be particularly confident in him.
King Spiro is loud-mouthed and lacks tact in face-to-face conversation, making him unpopular with other rulers- his own people both fear and respect him, as while he is a heavy-handed ruler and easily offended, he is incredibly powerful. While Spiro is guided by his own self-interest, he genuinely cares about keeping his kingdom running and successful, and shows surprising skill in the actual management of the region… even if his volatile nature makes him unpredictable politically.
His greatest claim to fame is being the only living human to have successfully tamed a dragon- affectionately named ‘Lincoln’, it has grown to a massive size under his care. It’s origins are unknown, and Spiro keeps information about his prized pet under close wraps for its protection- he seems to have a genuine affection for the creature, however, and the two protect each other fiercely. Anyone who harms the dragon in battle is liable to lose their head.
Head of Command:
Arno Blunt, Spiro’s general- and seemingly the closest thing he has to a friend. Originating from overseas, Arno traveled with a foreign military for a long time before eventually deserting that life, favoring the kingdoms. He was a mercenary for many years before joining Spiro’s ranks, and has a wealth of knowledge about other kingdoms and their habits that Spiro heavily relies on when making political maneuvers.
He considers Domovoi Butler to be something of a rival, and at gatherings between kingdoms he will seek the bodyguard out to antagonize him. Domovoi tolerates this with as much patience as he can muster, but their kings have had to order the two to break up sudden scuffles more than once.
Kingdom:
Spiro’s kingdom is divided between mountains and grasslands, with their easternmost border following the same coastline that the Fowls call home further north. The grasslands exist within a ‘rain shadow’, making them more suitable for agriculture than one would typically expect in such an arid environment- within the mountain range lies a wealth of precious metals and stone, the kingdom’s chief exports.
Spiro’s kingdom is responsible for many of the tournaments, games and gathering events for the various kingdoms, as he is incredibly fond of sports and competition. These events are supposedly neutral ground, though cheating is common- the largest tournament, the Tournament Of Kings, is often hosted at his own coliseum (where Spiro hosts gladiator fights during the ‘off season’).
Notes:
- Spiro’s palace is still The Needle, housed within his capitol, ‘Chargestone’.
- Lincoln does not appear often outside of battle within the kingdom, though he serves as Spiro’s mount when it comes to traveling across borders/in war. He’s trained to come to the sound of a particular whistle, but his commands are hand signals (or foot signals when riding, like steering a horse) and voice command alike, meaning the whistle alone is not enough to control him.
- Spiro fights with a traditional sword or a flail, though he rarely chooses traditional combat when other options are available, given his frail build.
House Valentine:
Ruling Body:
King Valentine has no current heirs or family- in fact, he is not of royal blood whatsoever, and his rise to power is the subject of much mystery and discussion within the social circles he frequents. He does, however, have a handful of wards he is currently watching over in his palace, with an eye on a few of them as potential future kings. He has no interest in starting his own family and grows increasingly annoyed when questioned about it.
Wildly popular within his own kingdom, its surprising that Valentine is a king at all- he was originally a beloved bard. While the circumstances surrounding his rise to power are shrouded in mystery, it is undeniable that his kingdom is currently thriving under his care- trade is booming, and he has made it a point to travel to other kingdoms as frequently as possible to strengthen alliances. He doesn’t seem to quite grasp the political power he wields, treating other rulers as one would a social circle of friends- some feel, however, that this might simply be a clever ruse to disguise his true nature.
Kingdom:
Valentine’s kingdom is primarily coastal, consisting of lush rainforest surrounding several estuaries and river mouths- it is located to the east of Spiro’s kingdom.
A haven of the arts, Valentine’s kingdom lacks a true army in favor of Valentine simply keeping himself out of wartime- a ‘neutral party’ in almost all affairs (save for when Spiro is involved), the kingdom also thusly serves as a refuge for countless criminals and underground organizations. Smuggling, drug production, and other illicit activities reign in certain areas, with little effort on Valentine’s part to stop them- in fact, he’d rather have a hand in their management, the price for his ‘blind eye’. In the safer regions, however, one can find beautiful artwork and music, delicious food and all the vices they can get their hands on- taking that into consideration, it’s not a surprise that Valentine is so beloved by his people.
Notes:
- Symbols consist of a serpent or an oleander.
- Valentine is a skilled poisoner and manipulator. By all accounts according to the tropes, this man should be the sinister advisor- but someone has handed him power and he insists on wearing it well.
- Affiliated with the Extinctionists, an order of knights and noblemen with the goal of eradicating magical creatures. Constantly irritating Jon by implying he would ‘very much like a dragonskin coat’.
- Valentine dislikes hand-to-hand combat and generally avoids it whenever possible- he has no particular affinity towards a handheld weapon. Takes on the role of torturer and executioner himself when necessary, however, bringing into question his feelings on violence.
Thieve’s Guild:
Ruling Body:
Foxworth Fowl, the ‘long lost’ brother of Artemis the First. Fleeing his brother’s kingdom at an early age due to fears of being ‘removed’ from the throne’s running by his parents, Foxworth made his living as a thief and bard, eventually becoming infamous across the kingdom through his exploits- after a time, he began to gather other thieves like him and established himself as the leader of a band of criminals under the banner of the Thieve’s Guild.
Cunning, manipulative and somewhat lazy, Foxy prefers to spend his time nowadays in some hideaway or another, surrounded by stolen goods and his occasional lovers as he entertains his followers with charming songs and stories. On rare occasion, he’ll sneak his way into the Fowl’s palace to visit his family, but contact with them is sparse due to him frequently changing location- he visits more often now that he has nephews, however, and will always shelter his family if they should so need it (even if he’ll nag his brother’s ear off about it the whole way).
‘Kingdom’:
Foxworth’s Guild do not have many set fortresses, preferring to roam in scattered clusters that occasionally reconvene at their ‘king’s’ orders for some celebration or another. There is a primary base of operations tucked away in one of the major kingdoms, but none of the rulers so far have been able to uncover it (though not for lack of trying).
The Guild is a den of thieves and crooks, and they tend to leave behind a trail of missing riches wherever they may go. Methods vary- robbery of traveling merchants occurs just as often at their hand as a con, though Foxy himself prefers less violent methods. There’s a strict code not to harm each other ‘unless unavoidable’, and Foxworth does not tolerate anyone ratting out another, with someone doing so leading to their exile (or death). While thievery is their preferred method of operations, the Guild can occasionally be convinced to spy in other kingdoms, or do assassination work, though Foxy only seems to allow it when it’s for someone he’s taken a liking to.
Notes:
- All Guild members are marked somewhere on their bodies with a particular sigil, used to recognize one another in the field.
- While the Guild is a den of thieves and conpeople, Foxy himself isn’t coldhearted, and as such it has also become a haven for young runaways or those down on their luck due to the kingdom’s rulings. He remembers his time all alone on the streets well enough- if someone wants to hide or is in great danger, there’s a chance Foxy can be convinced to get them somewhere safe, or keep them protected.

oc question things!
14, 16, 41 for literally any one of the lot (or all!)
And A or G for all as well?
Hell yeah let’s do this-
(thought it might be fun to have them answer some of these, lol)
14). What animal do their fear most?
Valentine: “…I don’t really care for horses. They look like they know too much.”
Tim: “Spiders. I’m not a fan of… anything about them, really. The whole ‘skittering’ thing, their webs… gross.”
Jon: “I don’t like mice. Or roaches. Those kinds of things. Usually they don’t make it all the way up the Needle, though, so I’m good.”
Butler: “Trolls. Next question.”
16). What makes their stomach turn?
Valentine: “…Brakes. The sound of brakes squealing. Let’s go with that.”
Tim: “Cooking… meat, I guess? Sometimes I can’t even be in the kitchen while Butler is working- it brings up bad memories. Especially if it burns.”
Jon: “Blood on my suit. Or in my hair. That shit’s nasty.”
Butler: “…I feel like I’ve seen too many people die to give that a fair answer, but the ‘look’ of the dead is something one never forgets. Especially when you have died once, yourself.”
41). How do they feel about children?
Valentine: “Not for me- but I don’t, like, hate them? They’re noisy. They’re funny, sometimes. That’s about it.”
Tim: “I love my own children dearly, of course- more than words can say. But others’ children make me feel… awkward, I suppose? I don’t really know what to do with them, and the looks on their faces when they first see mine don’t feel very good. If their own parents are present to keep an eye on them, it’s fine- minding the twins is enough of a handful for me.”
Jon: “Kids are fun- they got the funniest fuckin’ sense of humor. The world hasn’t gotten to em’ yet. Sometimes I wish I had some, but I’d be a pretty shit parent, I think.”
Butler: “I hardly think Artemis could be considered a normal child, but having helped raise two of them, children are perfectly fine. I don’t think I would know what to do with a child born to a normal life, however. What kind of mischief would that even entail? I’m too used to…” *gestures vaguely at Fowl Manor* “-all of this.”
A). Why are you excited about this character?
I love all my bastard men so much- I don’t really have a set reason as to why, I just do. They’re so fun to play mix-n-match with, situations-wise, and I love that I’ve given some of them a slightly stronger presence in the fandom! Also, I just. Love that people love Valentine, lol- it makes me really happy
G). What trait of theirs bothers you the most?
Valentine- It is very hard for me to word the specific kind of violent/volatile nature Valentine has. I really don’t want to project this idea that he’s a guy who just loves beating up and harming random people, because he doesn’t. He just has very little qualms about killing people in his way, and gets violent specifically with enemies that have managed to piss him off. But it’s still annoying to write.
Tim- Tim… my guy… you have a good heart, I know it, the peace you want and the life and safety you want for your family is all great things… please word the things you say better.
Jon- Honestly, I can’t think of anything?? Like he’s such an asshole but… that’s his whole thing. Jon is a cartoonishly evil businessman, down to the T. If I was mad about that, it’d be like getting mad at The Riddler for riddling or something.
Butler- Butler is so stoic and stubborn about admitting literally anything the Fowls/Butlers/Artemis does is fucked up, or that the whole dynamic thing is fucked up, or any of that. Please my man, recognize that your life and childhood have had a massive thread of “that’s fucked up, actually”… and maybe have a good cry about it. You need one.

Okay but did you remember to brush your hair as you started growing it out, or did you just leave it sticking up every-which-way while you ranted to the boys parents about how, for the past 3 years, their son had alternately kidnapped and been kidnapped by several different kinds of fairies with ray guns?
