CM Kejriwal moves motion of confidence in Delhi Assembly
Tumblr media
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday moved a motion of confidence in the Assembly which the House will discuss on Saturday.
Seeking the vote of confidence in the Assembly, he said, "Two MLAs had come to me saying they were contacted by BJP members offering them Rs 25 crore each. They were told that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be arrested and the government will be toppled."
Claiming that the Delhi excise policy case was false, he alleged the BJP wanted to topple the AAP government.
A Delhi court has asked Kejriwal to appear before it on February 17 on a complaint filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for skipping summons in an excise policy-linked case and noted that prima facie the AAP chief was "legally bound" to comply.
The ED had moved the court after Kejriwal skipped the fifth summons by the probe agency for questioning in a Delhi liquor policy-linked money laundering case.

AAP only “Antidote” for BJP: Arvind Kejriwal in Gujrat!!!
Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal this Monday held a roadshow in Mehsana district while showcasing the expansion of the Aam Aadmi Party in poll-bound Gujrat. He terms AAP the only antidote for the BJP. Mr. Kejriwal addressed the people and hit out at the ruling BJP in the state and said, “people are scared to speak anything against BJP”.
The people said that if they speak anything against the BJP, then they are threatened and beaten. There is no need to be scared as Gujrat is about to change.”
Later on this year, Gujrat is slated to go to the Assembly polls. During his day-long visit to the western state where the AAM Aadmi party is hoping to spread wings after its thumping victory in Punjab, Mr. Kejriwal said “AAP is the only antidote for BJP.
Earlier, he also slammed the BJP for the recent incidents of target killings in the Kashmir calling it a “massacre of Kashmiri pandits”.
He also added “The massacre that is happening with Kashmiri Pandits is not right. In the last 30 years, Kashmiri pandits had to migrate twice and both happened when BJP was in power. I would appeal to the government that takes whatever step needs to be taken and provide them with security”.
He lashes out at the center over the targeted killings of Kashmiri Pandits in Jammu and Kashmir and he also said that Kashmiri pandits were being forced to leave their homes while asserting that the “BJP is incapable of handling Kashmir”.
When addressing the Jan Aakrosh Rally at Jantar Mantar, he said that “Kashmir was ours, belongs to us and will remain ours. Kashmiri pandits were being forced to leave their homes, a repeat of what happened in the 1990s”.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Monday urged the Centre to take steps to ensure the security of Kashmiri Pandits in the wake of the last week killing of a government servant from the community.
Rahul Bhat, who had got the job of a clerk under the special employment package for migrants in 2010-11, was gunned down by terrorists inside the tehsil office in Chadoora town of central Kashmir's Budgam district on Thursday.
"A Kashmiri Pandit was killed inside his office by terrorists. It seems it was planned. The Indian Army gunned down two terrorists in a day. But the incident has left Kashmiri Pandits scared," Kejriwal said in an online briefing.

Kejriwal Expresses Gratitude to Rahul and Kharge for Backing AAP on Delhi Services Bill
The Delhi Services Bill took center stage as Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal extended his heartfelt appreciation to Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge and MP Rahul Gandhi. Their resolute support for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) against the GNCTD (Amendment) Bill, 2023, was acknowledged by Kejriwal with gratitude.
In individual letters addressed to Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, Kejriwal conveyed his thanks on behalf of Delhi's populace, numbering two crore. He lauded their party's stance in opposing and voting against the GNCTD (Amendment) Bill, 2023. Kejriwal's letters carried his profound respect for the Congress leaders' commitment to safeguarding the rights of Delhi's citizens both within the Parliament's chambers and beyond.
Kejriwal stated, "I would like to place on record the heartfelt appreciation for championing the rights of the people of Delhi inside as well as outside the Parliament. I am certain that your unflinching loyalty towards the principles of our Constitution will be remembered for decades."
The Delhi Chief Minister's remarks also hinted at his collaboration with the 'I.N.D.I.A' bloc, a coalition of 26 Opposition parties. He expressed eagerness for their continued support in the ongoing battle against elements that undermine the Constitution. Kejriwal's letters were in harmony with similar gestures extended to Nitish Kumar, Uddhav Thackeray, Mamta Banerjee, Sharad Pawar, MK Stalin, Hemant Soren, and KCR.
Notably, the Delhi Services Bill triumphed in the Rajya Sabha, garnering a significant victory for the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Securing 131 votes in favor, the bill surpassed the opposition coalition 'I.N.D.I.A,' which managed 102 votes against it. Following this outcome, Arvind Kejriwal passionately critiqued the Central government for their approach and interference in Delhi's governance.
Kejriwal's affinity for his role as 'Delhi ka beta' resonated as he highlighted the consistent support from the people, reinforcing his commitment to governance aligned with their aspirations. As the political landscape continues to evolve, the impact of collaborative efforts and the voice of the people remain integral to the fabric of India's democracy.

Will immerse our medals into Ganga, sit on hunger strike at India Gate, say protesting wrestlers
India's top wrestlers, including Sakshee Malikkh, Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia, said they will immerse their medals into river Ganga on Tuesday and then sit on an indefinite hunger strike at India Gate. Since April 23, the grapplers have been protesting against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh over sexual harassment allegations levelled against him.
Tumblr media
India’s top wrestlers, who were recently detained and removed from their protest site at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, have said they will immerse their medals into river Ganga in Haridwar on Tuesday and then sit on an indefinite hunger strike at India Gate.
Wrestlers including Sakshee Malikkh, Bajrang Punia and Sangeeta Phogat, put out a statement on their respective Twitter handles, saying the grapplers would go to Haridwar and immerse their medals into river Ganga at 6 pm.
“These medals are our lives, our souls. There would be no reason to live after immersing them into the Ganga today. We will stage a hunger strike until death at India Gate after that,” read the statement in Hindi.
Since April 23, the grapplers have been protesting against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh over sexual harassment allegations levelled against him by female athletes, including a minor.
Dramatic visuals emerged from the wrestlers’ protest march as hundreds of cops and paramilitary personnel blocked their advance towards Parliament House on May 28. As the protesters tried to breach the security cordon, a fierce tussle broke out — the wrestlers and cops pushed, shoved and grappled with one another.
In the joint statement, the wrestlers said the Prime Minister “who calls us our daughters”, did not even once show his concern for the grapplers. “Rather, he invited the ‘oppressor’ (Brij Bhushan Singh) to the inauguration of the new Parliament building. He even posed for photographs in bright white clothes. We have been stained by this brightness,” it said.
The statement said, “Where is the place for the daughters of India? Have we been reduced to people indulging in mere sloganeering or do we have an agenda to come to power?”
“We are going to immerse these medals into river Ganga… The more sacred we consider the Ganga, the more sacredly we had achieved these medals by toiling hard. These medals are sacred for the whole country and the right place should be in the Ganga itself,” it said.
The protest, which started on April 23, at Jantar Mantar saw heartbreaking visuals on the day of the new Parliament building’s inauguration when Delhi Police cracked down on them in the midst of their march. An FIR was lodged against the wrestlers for taking out the march to the new Parliament building, mentioning that their protest would hamper “national prestige”.
The wrestlers, who resumed their sit-in last month after the first round of protests in January, have been demanding the arrest of Brij Bhushan Singh, also a BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh’s Kaisarganj.
Opposition leaders, including Congress’s Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have condemned the Centre over their inaction against Brij Bhushan Singh.
The WFI chief dismissed the sexual harassment allegations levelled against him by some female grapplers.

Atishi Claims BJP Switch Offer, Says These AAP Leaders To Be Arrested Soon
Four more senior leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are set to be arrested over the next two months, Delhi minister Atishi alleged today, accusing the BJP of using central agencies in its attempt to crush AAP. The ruling party, she alleged, plans to arrest her, Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, AAP MP Raghav Chadha and party MLA Durgesh Pathak.
Tumblr media
"The BJP has approached me through someone very close. They have asked me to join the BJP and said this will save my political career. They have threatened that if I don't switch over, ED (Enforcement Directorate) will arrest me within a month," she told the media.
She said the person who approached her on behalf of the BJP had said that the ruling party had "made up its mind on crushing everyone in AAP".
"First, they put everyone in AAP's leadership in jail. Satyendra Jain, Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh and now Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal have been arrested. The BJP's plan is to arrest four more AAP leaders in the next two months. They will arrest me, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Durgesh Pathak and Raghav Chadha," she said.
The BJP, Ms Atishi said, had thought that the party would splinter after Arvind Kejriwal's arrest. "But after the rally in Ramlila Maidan Sunday, the BJP thinks the arrest of four leaders was not enough," she said.
The Delhi minister claimed that she had received information that ED may raid her and her relatives' homes in the coming days. "We are Arvind Kejriwal's soldiers, we won't be cowed down by BJP's threats."
Ms Atishi referred to the ED's submission in court that Mr Kejriwal had said AAP's former communication boss Vijay Nair reported to her and Mr Bharadwaj.
"This information is already in ED's and CBI's chargesheets. It is possible that ED took our names so that they proceed on arresting the second line of AAP leadership," she said.
The BJP described the AAP leader's allegations as "baseless". Party leader RP Singh said, "I too can say that Saurabh Bharadwaj called me up and requested me to protect them from Arvind Kejriwal who wants to put them behind bars and make Sunita Kejriwal the Chief Minister. This is their internal tussle, which is coming out again and again in different forms."
"The truth is that action will be taken against all whose names are involved in the matter. It is clear that the fight for the CM post has begun in AAP. Saurabh Bharadwaj and Atishi are on one side and Sunita Kejriwal and Arvind Kejriwal are on the other," he alleged, according to news agency ANI.
Ms Atishi's allegations and the BJP's counter are the latest in the heated exchanges between AAP and BJP leaders in the wake of Mr Kejriwal's arrest in a money laundering related to Delhi's now-scrapped liquor policy. The Chief Minister has been remanded in judicial custody till April 15 and moved to Delhi's Tihar jail. The ED has said he is not cooperating in the probe.
