Traffic Apocalypse Strikes Los Angeles as 10 Freeway Shutdown After Massive Fire: Sends Commuters into Chaos
Early Saturday Morning a nightmare nobody saw coming erupted in the 10 Freeway, congestion after "extensive damage" from a fire in downtown indefinitely shut down both directions of the 10 Freeway between the East L.A. connector and Alameda Street.
Around 12:30 a.m. , the fire was initially reported at a pallet yard beneath the freeway, close to East 14th and Alameda streets. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, it eventually melted some of the steel guardrails on the freeway and damaged firetrucks as it devoured both sides of 14th Street underneath the 10.
Mayor Karen Bass stated that while engineers assess the extent of the damage, it is still too soon to determine if the roadway will be entirely rebuilt or demolished.
“This morning, I want to speak directly to the 300,000 people who would normally drive on the stretch of the 10,” Bass said during a news conference Monday morning. “And to those who live, work or have appointments or schools in the area. As we made clear yesterday, this was a huge fire and the damage will not be fixed in an instant.” said Mayor Karen Bass on Los Angeles Times

Round 2 starts Tuesday April 30th!
With Round 1 having officially come to a close I just wanted to do a wrap up before we start Round 2!
First off, thank you to everyone who participated! Thank you for all the submissions, propaganda, votes, reblogs, and kind words! I can’t wait to continue this fun with y’all in this upcoming round!
