AVPT has basically replaced all my knowledge of the events in the actual Harry Potter series, which isn't so bad per se, but it did lead to a very weird moment yesterday when I was discussing hp with someone and forgot that no, the Harry Potter series does not end with Voldemort letting Harry Potter go as he embraces his life with his husband Quirrell, that's just something my favourite theatre kids did.

i fully believe avpm voldy would’ve been mortified to find out that ginny had found his diary (journal) from when he was an angsty 15 year old and started talking to it and it sicced the basilisk on a bunch of people and almost killed harry. by his own admission in avpm he doesn’t want to kill harry anymore, or anyone. avpsy for voldy is like the reformed supervillain equivalent of suddenly getting cancelled for something you tweeted like 15 years ago and don’t believe a word of anymore

For a parody Harry Potter musical that was made with such obvious love for the source material and then performed wayyy back in 2012, AVPSY has aged... surprisingly well?

It's set in a world in which people no longer like Harry Potter (for reasons that often have less to do with HP himself/itself than you would think) and is ultimately a story about letting go of things that are no longer helpful or good for you, even if that means letting go of Harry after so many years of loving him.

Like, it's not perfectly tailored to the current situation, not by a long shot, but it feels surprisingly prescient all the same.
